>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Jason: Something's changed since the last time I saw you. That look's not in your eyes anymore. You remember, don't you?

Courtney: You just called me a little while ago and didn't say anything.

Coleman: It was me.

Monica: Everything went very well.

Skye: He's going to be all right.

Jax: Put your hand on my leg. I want to see if I can feel it.

Sonny: Brenda is the past, you're the future. Okay?

Felicia: Did you just ask me to marry you?

Roy: I did.

Felicia: I'm sorry. I -- it's just a little sudden.

Roy: Well, maybe. I don't know. I haven't been trying to time it. I just -- I want to start living, you know, in a way that's committed to you and to your daughters.

Felicia: I'm just stunned. It's not what I expected.

Roy: Well, you know, you took me by surprise, too. The way I've suddenly started waking up, looking forward to the day because I know that you'll be making an appearance in my day. It's just -- it's just effortless the way you've woven yourself into every part of me, Felicia. I love you so much, and it would be an honor for me if you would become my wife.

Felicia: It's just amazing. I just can't do this to either one of us.

Jason: See, part of my job is paying attention. And I've noticed a few things about you. You're not searching every face that passes by, just hoping to spot someone you know. You don't tense up when strangers approach, waiting to see if that person recognizes you. You don't need to look for that person or that thing that will trigger your memory anymore because that's already happened.

Zander: What if I do remember? Hmm? What if it all came flooding back? What if I can see my whole life in front of me like a movie -- shooting Elizabeth, trying to frame you, and a million other pointless, stupid things. Is there any chance you could leave it alone?

Jason: Hey, what you remember now is none of my business. You stay out of Sonny's way. You want to start over? I don't blame you. You hurt Elizabeth, we're going to have a problem.

Elizabeth: Is everything all right?

Jason: Yeah, everything's fine.

Elizabeth: Is Jason giving you trouble?

Elizabeth: What was that about?

Courtney: Consider this a fair warning -- if you call me again, I'm going to get the police to come in here and arrest you for stalking.

Coleman: Don't you think that's a bit of an overreaction?

Courtney: Coleman, you call my house, you breathe on the line, you don't say anything, and you --

Coleman: I lost my courage, okay?

Courtney: What do you mean, "courage"?

Coleman: I'm no stalker, Courtney. I wished I would've met you under different circumstances, all right, and acted like your friend from the beginning. And I'd very much like to be a friend to you now.

Courtney: It's -- it's too late for that, okay, and I really don't want to hate you, Coleman, so don't make me. Just leave me alone.

Sonny: You spying on me?

Carly: No. I am just taking a minute to appreciate how much I love you and how happy I am to be able to watch you do something as mundane as reading a paper. You know, the thing I hated most about pretending that you were dead was I just thought God was going to punish me and he was going to take you away for real.

Sonny: Well, it's over. You're back in my life. You're right in the center, right --

Carly: Yeah.

Sonny: Where you're supposed to be. Guess what.

Carly: Hmm?

Sonny: Got to run.

Carly: What? Where are you going?

Sonny: I got a meeting with Sammy Tagliati and the other reps to, you know, clear up any misunderstandings that might've occurred while I was gone.

Carly: Oh, okay.

Sonny: Okay.

Carly: Oh, wait, hold -- hold on, one second. Hold on. Ta-da. You might need this, if you want. You know what? I found it very useful in illustrating a point.

Sonny: Right.

Carly: It's good.

Sonny: Good-bye, Carly.

Carly: All right. Suit yourself.

Sonny: I am.

Carly: Brenda Barrett. Very nice. Take that, bitch.

Skye: I know you doctors aren't psychics, so I'm not looking for guarantees, but you must have some sense of how the operation went.

Doctor: The surgery was complicated, and, so far, there's no way of knowing if your husband's spinal cord was damaged. It's too soon to make a definitive diagnosis.

Monica: Skye, I understand no answer is really hard to take.

Doctor: When Jax regains consciousness, we'll run tests. Once we've ascertained the level of damage -- if any -- we'll be able to discuss treatment options.

Skye: I -- I really appreciate your attempts to not alarm me, but these vague assurances, they aren't helping very much, okay? Monica, please. Is Jax going to be paralyzed?

Jax: Look, I know that I came through the surgery with flying colors, so go ahead, pinch me, see for yourself. Go on, pinch me.

Brenda: Boy, nothing's changed. You're still the worst at taking orders.

Jax: I hate this bed, you know. I hate this stupid brace I have to wear.

Brenda: I know, it's okay. It's just for a little while. You know, the doctors say you shouldn't move, so you're not going to move. I'm not going to pinch you. You're not going to go running down the hospital halls. No running -- for today. Okay? I'll leave if you want. And I can stay here for as long as you want.

Jax: You're still as -- as bossy as ever.

Brenda: Yeah. I am.

Brenda: Hmm.

Jax: Don't take this the wrong way, but you look God-awful.

Brenda: Oh. Very nice. Very sweet. You know, you used to at least lie to me and tell me that I looked gorgeous even when I smelled.

[Brenda laughs]

Jax: I mean, doesn't surprise me. You -- you've been through hell in the last few days. I think it's time you went home and -- and took care of yourself and got some rest. Yeah.

[Knock on door]

Alexis: Oh.

Jax: Brenda was just leaving.

Brenda: Yes, I was. No jogging.

Jax: I'll rest, I promise.

Jax: Your timing's impeccable as usual.

Alexis: Why were you so anxious to get rid of Brenda?

Jax: Is that what it seemed like?

Alexis: To me.

Jax: It's a good idea for Brenda to keep her distance from now on.

Elizabeth: Zander, I'm serious. If Jason was giving you a hard time, I would like to know about it.

Zander: And what would you do if he was?

Elizabeth: Make him stop, tell him to back off.

Zander: Jason was cool. I -- I explained to him that -- that I want to start over. Any disagreements we had in the past, I can't remember. So can we call it even, and he agreed. All he asked was that I don't hurt you.

Elizabeth: God, you know, where does -- where does he get off? I am not Jason's problem anymore. I don't even know the guy.

Zander: Remind me not to get on your bad side.

Elizabeth: Well, having someone I trust lie to my face makes me mad. I'm funny that way.

Roy: Okay, okay, I don't blame you for being cautious. I mean, you look at my track record; it's hardly the ideal resume for a husband and a stepfather. I mean, I know, you know, my history. I was an assassin and I failed at it. I was an undercover snitch and bartender/owner of a club that barely breaks even, and lately I've been the frontman for the likes of Luis Alcazar. So if you look at me, you know, what's not to loathe? But I know something about myself. I can accomplish anything if I'm properly motivated.

Felicia: Thank you.

Roy: I was even thinking we could, you know, go into business once we get married. We can open up a P.I. firm together, you know? I mean, we make a good team.

Felicia: We would make a good team.

Roy: Yeah. We could, you know, pick locks by day and help the girls with their homework at night.

Felicia: Do you have any idea how smart kids are these days?

Roy: Maybe I'm just too stupid to be intimidated. I don't know. I'll get a tutor. I'll learn algebra. I'm motivated, kiddo.

Felicia: What about all those expensive suits? What about the penthouse with the view of the harbor? What about that feeling that you have that you love being a player?

Roy: Well, that is the stuff of someone with nothing going on, with no love in his life, with nobody to consider but himself. I mean, it would never work for a married man with, you know, a wife and stepdaughters. I know that. But, Felicia, I would never do anything to jeopardize you and your girls. You have to know that.

Felicia: I know. I know. You would put your dreams aside and put us first. The life you love, the high stakes that make you feel alive.

Roy: In a heartbeat.

Felicia: Don't you see? That's why we would never last.

Sonny: Have a seat, gentlemen.

Sonny: Thanks for coming. I want to make this short. There appears to have been some confusion during my absence. I want to take this opportunity to clear it up. As you can see, I'm alive and well and more than capable of handling my existing business commitments. Everything's going to go back to normal. No drugs will be run through my territory. There will be no participation in the profits from my casinos, no redistribution of my assets whatsoever. Have any questions? I didn't think so. Please carry my respects back to your respective families and assure them that this minor interruption, while necessary, does not detract from the way I deal with business. Meeting adjourned, gentlemen. Sammy? I will deal with you later.

Sonny: That went pretty will.

[Jason sighs]

Jason: So I spoke to Roy --

Sonny: Yeah?

Jason: About Miami?

Sonny: Mm-hmm?

Jason: He turned it down.

Sonny: Well, that's not good. I mean, it would've been nice, have a little distance from Roy --

Jason: But he made a show of good faith. He and Felicia signed Pier 52 over to us. They don't want to be paid.

Sonny: That's a generous offer.

Jason: Yeah. I guess Alcazar gave them the money to buy the pier, so they don't want anything to do with it.

Sonny: Well, as long as we got it under control, I don't even want to hear excuses or reasons. You know what I'm saying?

Jason: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: But we need to get a holding company to control --

Jason: Benny's already working on it.

Sonny: Well, then it's good. Everything's good. Everything's back to normal. In business, anyway.

Jason: You want to do anything about Brenda?

Monica: I will check on Jax later, I promise, okay? Take care.

Skye: Brenda? Oh, my God. Oh, my God, it's Jax, isn't it?

Felicia: I married Mac with every intention of spending my entire life with him. I wanted the whole deal; I wanted the entire married package. I was so sure that I put that part of myself that loves adventure behind me, positive that I'd grown past that. I was wrong. And what's worse, I was denying myself. I was denying who I am inside. And as a result, I threw myself into an affair with Luke, and I hurt Mac and Maxie and Georgie -- my family. And I swore I'd never do that again, and I do not want to put you in the position to make the same mistake for me.

Roy: It wouldn't be like that with us.

Felicia: Yes, I really think it would be. Roy, you're a power junkie. You love danger, you love making decisions that have consequences and taking chances. You want to win big. And you know what? It's okay to want to win big, but not with me. You're not a suburban dad, and that's what I need. And if you pretend to be one, you're just going to break both of our hearts in the end.

[Knock on door]

Paulie: Sonny's father is here.

Carly: Yeah, show him in.

Mike: You're condescending to let me into my own son's house. I'm -- I'm honored, I truly am.

Paulie: Would you like me to stay?

Carly: No, we're fine, thank you. Hey, Mike, Sonny's not here right now, but he'll be back soon. Why don't you sit?

Mike: That's -- that's good. The concerned-daughter-in-law act. It's almost as convincing as the bereaved widow.

Carly: Mike, that's --

Mike: And you were in on it from the start, weren't you?

Carly: Mike, I did what I had to to support my husband.

Jason: Before when we were taking care of her at the safe house, Brenda said all she wanted, once Alcazar was stopped, would be to go away. Now, "away" isn't real specific.

Sonny: I'll set her up in a house in Europe. She'll have enough money to live quietly until she can't take care of herself.

Jason: She told me she wanted to be institutionalized. I said I would arrange it for her and she was -- she was pretty grateful at the time.

Sonny: Well, yeah, but at the time, you know, she thought I was dead.

Jason: So what are you saying? I shouldn't?

Sonny: Have Benny do research. Find the best clinic that deals with Brenda’s type of illness.

Jason: Okay.

Sonny: Set her up maybe somewhere in Europe, near the ocean, Sardinia. She needs to live, you know, near the water, okay, in a house big enough where she's comfortable with a live-in nurse, you know, if that's what it takes, but just keep it simple because she doesn't -- she doesn't like big houses because it reminds her of where she grew up, her father's old estate. And -- um -- anyway, make the arrangements, okay, and I'll tell Brenda and you can fly her out there and set her up.

Jason: If that's what you want.

Sonny: Yeah, that's what I want. Thanks.

Jax: This has been hell on Skye. The first she knew about Brenda was when she got called to the hospital, that I'd been shot. And my not-so-dead-ex-wife showed up. And instead of being able to reassure her, I had to lean on her to get through the surgery.

Alexis: So you want Brenda to stay away in deference to Skye, not because you're drawn to her on any level?

Jax: I think Skye was the best thing I've ever done. She's an amazing woman. I made the right choice. I don't regret it.

Brenda: I'm not a doctor. I could be wrong.

Skye: Look, you need to tell me exactly what happened, okay?

Brenda: Okay, just listen to me. Jax asked me to pinch him, and I did -- hard -- and he didn't feel anything.

Skye: My God. How did he react? Did he ask to see a doctor?

Brenda: No, no, no, he doesn't even know. He couldn't see what I was doing, so I just told him to rest and I pretended like I never touched him.

Skye: Thank you. Thank you. Jax does not need to be alarmed right now, and Dr. Bennett said there might be some side effects and Jax is going to make a full recovery.

Brenda: Wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Did the doctor say that any paralysis could be temporary?

Skye: No. I just -- I know my husband, okay, and that's who he is. He doesn't give up. He doesn't just accept things. He fights for what he wants and he's going to get that. But thank you, again, for not saying anything, all right? Positive attitude is really the key.

Brenda: Wait. Could you just -- if you don't mind, if you could just keep me posted or let me know if there's anything I can do for you guys.

Skye: Well, you -- you don't need to worry about Jax anymore. Brenda, you've done your part. Now it's my turn.

Brenda: Oh, God.

Taggert: Ms. Barrett?

Brenda: Uh -- Det. Taggert.

Taggert: Well, actually, it's Lieutenant. I got a promotion.

Brenda: Well, good for you.

Taggert: Listen -- actually, I'm glad I ran into you because I still have a few questions about Luis Alcazar, Sonny, Jax.

Brenda: Yeah. Um -- not now, okay?

Taggert: Well, one second. One second.

Brenda: Oh.

Taggert: I know, I know, I know. Listen, you see, these -- these guys, they have absolutely not one thing in common -- well, actually, they have you. How did you cause so much trouble?

[Music plays]

Roy: I want you to listen to me. I have spent my whole life reinventing myself. Every assignment meant a new identity. Some I liked more than others, some were a better fit. The life I liked least was my own until you. Honey, from the moment we got together down in Texas to save Luke and Laura, through all the craziness this summer, I've been spellbound by you, baby. By your courage and your smarts and your incredible beauty and your loopy sense of humor.

Felicia: "Loopy"?

Roy: Way loopy.

Felicia: Hmm.

Roy: I mean, you constantly surprise me, Felicia. And I -- I know it would be a great thing to get old with you. I mean, I can reinvent myself again, as your husband, as Roy the suburban dad, and I'll be happy doing it. I don't give a damn about all the rest of that stuff. What I was about before -- I had been a power junkie. I mean, I've been driven by that since before I can remember. But it's insane, it doesn't go anywhere. It's like this delicious itch out there somewhere that you just -- you want to scratch so bad, but you can never get your fingernails on it. Baby, it's -- if I keep reaching for that, I'm going to lose you.

Felicia: If you don't, you'll lose yourself. I want to know that you're out there somewhere being true to who you are and not dying a little bit inside every single day trying to fit in to what it is you think has to work in my life.

Roy: Well, if this is the part where I'm supposed to thank you for not marrying me, I'm not going to be able to do it.

Felicia: This is the part where you say, "I'll never forget you." Because I'll never forget you, and I loved every moment that we had together.

Roy: Then I don't see why we need to walk away. I don't see it.

Felicia: It's not the right time for us.

Roy: Does that mean there's a possibility down the road?

Felicia: Yes.

Roy: Felicia.

Felicia: You take care of yourself and you have fun because you have to remember it's important to have fun.

Brenda: I've -- I've told the police everything, so --

Taggert: I'm just trying to get the facts straight. So you claim this Alcazar tried to abduct you at gunpoint, he shot Jax, and, in turn, Sonny shot him?

Brenda: Yes.

Taggert: Was it possible that Alcazar wanted to kill Sonny and Jax because you asked him to?

Brenda: What?

Taggert: Is it possible you don't remember? I mean, you do have a mental condition, right?

Ned: Leave her alone, Taggert.

Taggert: Just questioning a witness.

Ned: Not anymore, you're not. Brenda will fully cooperate with your investigation as long as there's an attorney present and a response to a summons or a subpoena. What she won't be doing is answering any more of your questions today. Thank you.

Brenda: Thank you.

Taggert: Thank you. Good deal.

Brenda: See you later. Ah! Nice work!

Ned: Brenda -- it really is you.

Brenda: It really is you!

Ned: Come here.

Brenda: I missed you!

Ned: Oh. Welcome home, sweetheart.

Brenda: Thank you.

Carly: Mike -- I know you're hurting, but taking it out on me isn't going to make you feel any better.

Mike: I'm trying to spare you pain. Cut your losses, Carly. Walk out of Sonny's life before he forces you out.

Sonny: She's not going anywhere.

Mike: Well, if it isn't my one and only son risen from the dead. That is some act.

Carly: Okay. You know what? I think the two of you need to talk, and I have to talk to Jason, too, so we'll --

Sonny: All right.

Carly: Step out.

Jason: What's up?

Carly: I need your help. I need $500,000. I'm not doing anything illegal and it's really --

Jason: Okay --

Carly: You really don't care about the money, so, Jason, please, can you just give it to me?

Jason: Carly, just wait.

Carly: What? It's not for anything illegal. I promise it's for something good.

Jason: Brenda's already leaving. Okay? So before I go and give you 500,000, or you come up with some crazy plan to have her kidnapped by gypsies, just slow down, take a deep breath, and look what's in front of you -- Sonny loves you, and Brenda’s leaving.

Mike: So, do you -- do you feel good about yourself, Sonny? You know, in one grand gesture, you managed to deceive all the people who love you. I mean, did you have us under surveillance? Were you rating our grief? Our pain?

Sonny: Mike, I'm sorry that I hurt you. I -- you know, I did what I had to do, so I don't know what you want me --

Mike: That is the final and biggest irony of all. I finally get it, Sonny. I get what you've been telling me all these years -- "sorry" isn't good enough. "Sorry" means nothing at all.

Carly: Okay, come here. Come here, I love you. It's going to be okay. It's okay.

Skye: Hey.

Jax: Hey. You've been gone a while.

Skye: Oh, miss me?

Jax: Yeah. Where'd you go?

Skye: Well, I hate to be the living, breathing cliché of a nagging wife, but you really should be resting, you know?

Jax: I don't want to rest. I don't want to sleep. I want you to tell me about that beautiful honeymoon that we're going to take in the south of France. That is, if you still want to go to the south of France. You know we can go anywhere you want. Just tell me. I'll make all your wishes come true.

Skye: You already made my biggest, best wish come true, Jax -- the day you married me.

Brenda: Jax -- he could be paralyzed.

Ned: It's that bad?

Brenda: I tried to pinch him and he didn't feel it.

Ned: How's he taking it?

Brenda: He doesn't know.

Ned: Okay, well, listen -- have you had any sleep?

Brenda: Oh, no. I haven't slept in, like, a month.

Ned: Okay. So it's time for you to get a good night's sleep. Grandmother has prepared your old room at the mansion.

Brenda: No, I shouldn't impose --

Ned: Brenda, you're family. You're staying with us whether you like it or not. So just say thanks.

Brenda: Thanks.

Ned: Let's go.

Roy: Thanks for coming, my man.

Jason: Is that Coleman?

Roy: Yeah.

Jason: Thanks.

Roy: It's a small down. I'll keep this simple. I have reconsidered Sonny's offer of that position in Miami. I want to take it.

Jason: Hmm. Good. Sonny will notify his people that you're on the way. All your travel and setup expenses will be taken care of. The sooner you get there, the better.

Roy: I thought I'd leave tonight.

Jason: I know we've been through a lot, but Sonny appreciates your help and the show of good faith by signing over the pier.

Roy: Yeah. Okay.

Jason: No, no, no. No, I got it.

Roy: You and Sonny watch your backs, Jason.

Jason: Yeah, you, too.

Roy: I'll be in touch from Miami.

Jason: All right.

Roy: One favor?

Jason: Is this the "Roy DiLucca one condition"?

Roy: This is the one condition.

Jason: Okay.

Roy: Keep an eye out for Felicia.

Jason: You got it.

Roy: Thanks.

Mike: I said I wanted another shot.

Jason: Hey, Mike --

Mike: Just let go of me. Just leave me the hell alone. The last person I want to see is anyone connected with Sonny Corinthos.

Paulie: Someone's here to see you.

Michael: Hey! I'm home! Did you miss me?

Sonny: You bet! I'm just -- I'm just a little, like, surprised.

Leticia: Yeah, that's the idea.

Sonny: What are -- Carly?

Carly: Oh, Michael! Hey! Oh, come here!

Ooh, I'm so happy you're home. Whoo! I'm going to -- you feeling better now?

Sonny: Yeah, I feel great. Give me five, bro. All right!

Felicia: Roy. I found you. I took a chance that you'd be here, and I found you.

Roy: I'm here.

Felicia: Well.

Roy: I just -- I just love this view. Isn't that a beautiful view?

Felicia: Mm-hmm.

Roy: So why did you find me?

Felicia: There was something important that I didn't tell you.

Roy: Tell me.

Felicia: I know that it's not right for us to be married right now, and I don't want you to think that I took that lightly. I love you. And a big part of my heart will always be with you, and I just wanted you to know that.

Roy: Thank you. I love you, too, more than you know. I hope that you'll consider my proposal an open invitation. On the day you change your mind, you pick up the phone and call me in Miami. That's all you have to do. Just say yes.

Felicia: I'm going to miss you.

Roy: Likewise, kiddo.

Courtney: Hey.

Jason: Hmm?

Courtney: Thanks for calling. So how bad is it?

Jason: See for yourself.

Courtney: Will you help me get him out of here?

Jason: Yeah.

Courtney: Thanks. Hey, Daddy.

Mike: Courtney -- Courtney, what are you doing here?

Courtney: I want you to go home with me.

Mike: No, no, you -- you go away, Courtney, and you just stay away. I am no good for you. Now, it's my fault that your -- your brother turned into this selfish jerk, and because I brought him pain -- now, he's turned it around and he's inflicting that on everyone else like -- do yourself a favor and you run as fast as you can before I do the same thing to you.

Courtney: You won’t.

[Mike scoffs]

Courtney: And I am not going to walk away from you. You are the only father that I have and I love you. So just come on, Daddy, come with me. Let me get you out of here.

Mike: Okay. Okay, baby, all right. All right.

Skye: Oh, we must go to Provence. We will go there and -- and we will stay in a chateau with a little garden. Then we'll dance out under the stars. Oh, it'll be the most wonderful honeymoon two people ever had.

Jax: It sounds idyllic. There's just one problem, Skye.

Jax: I can't -- I can't feel my legs.

Michael: I want to show you guys how I can swim underwater.

Carly: Oh, we can't wait to see it.

Sonny: Okay, I tell you what -- you can -- we'll go to the pool, right, and you can show your mom and me how you do it.

Carly: Do you know how happy we are that you're home? Do you?

Michael: Uh-uh.

Carly: Well, we're a family now, all together, and we can start acting normal again.

Sonny: Yeah. That's all we want, right?

[Knock on door]

Sonny: Right?

Carly: Ooh, that's probably Jason. I'll get it.

Sonny: Right?

Carly: Well, it's about time. You are never going to guess who is here.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Nikolas: We need to know what Scott has on you.

Lucky: Is it about Sonny?

Sonny: So what do you need?

Brenda: I just need to talk to you for a second.

Mike: Look at this. Jason Morgan hitting on his own brother's wife.

Skye: No, Jax, it's too soon. Really, don't --

Jax: Feel my leg!
