>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Scott: You can't handle these people by yourself! These families are going to reach out with one hand, and with the other hand they're going to stick a knife in your back, Carly.

Man: I've watched you at the Oasis. I'm watching you now.

Second man: You've been shot.

Alcazar: No hospital.

Jax: Welcome home, Mrs. Jacks. Let the celebration continue.

Brenda: Congratulations.

Courtney: Whoever this is, stop hassling me! Leave me alone!

Man: I'm watching you, Daisy.

Courtney: Go to hell. It's okay, girl, it's okay. You're okay.

Courtney: Okay. Okay.

[Rosie barks]

Courtney: Come on. Okay. Okay, okay. No one can get in. It's okay. We're okay. We're okay. Yeah, it's okay, it's okay. We're safe. Okay.

Carly: Marco, make sure you secure the stairs because Sonny's going to be coming up any minute.

Marco: Mrs. Corinthos, we have a complication.

Bobbie: Thank you very much. You've been very helpful. Oh, hi. I'm so glad you're back. I've got everything arranged, and I packed your bag.

Carly: Why -- why do I need a bag?

Bobbie: We're on the 3:30 flight tonight -- or tomorrow morning, around there -- to go to Miami. And from Miami, then we can charter a plane to get to Sonny's private island.

Carly: Okay, Mama, I'm -- I know you're trying to help here, but I'm not going anywhere.

Bobbie: You know, honey, I think we're probably going to be there a couple of days, or maybe we should plan to stay a week. Actually, I think we should plan to stay as long as it's going to take Michael to start a healing process.

Carly: Michael's fine.

Bobbie: Michael is fine, Carly, but that's because Michael doesn't know about Sonny, and I think it's time we told him that his daddy's dead.

Sonny: We have to keep searching for Brenda. We really -- we really need to find her before Alcazar --

Jason: Sonny, once we find her, where do you want to take her? I vote as far away as possible. How about Europe?

Sonny: Well, that's probably where she's going to end up when this is over. But in the meantime, we're going to send her to Puerto Rico. She's going to have to stay in one of the casinos until this thing with Alcazar is resolved.

Man: Here, here.

Man: You have to get to a hospital.

Alcazar: I told you, no hospitals. But I do need a doctor. Bring me one.

Man: Look, you're badly hurt. You need an operating room.

Alcazar: There's no time. I have to get out there and find Brenda now.

Jax: Brenda.

Brenda: Jax, there's -- there's so many things that you can't understand, but the only thing that you need to know right now --

Jax: I never accepted it. I always knew that you were alive. I saw you.

Brenda: You did? Jax, I -- listen, there's something very important that I need to tell you --

Jax: I went to Paris, and I saw you. That was you. That -- that was you.

Brenda: Yeah. Oh, God.

Jax: That was you. That was you.

Jax: My wife -- my wife's inside.

Brenda: I know. My timing's bad.

Jax: Where have you been?

Brenda: Jax, listen, you're in really serious danger. I went to the church because I was afraid for your life.

Jax: You went to the church?

Brenda: Yes.

Jax: You're the one that took the limo?

Brenda: Yes.

Jax: Brenda, can you tell me what happened the night of the accident?

Brenda: Yes, yes. Listen, the night of the accident, my mother and I were in the car. We were driving back from Maine. She was going to come and live with us. I was driving; she was talking about her illness. She seemed really calm to me. I felt -- I felt very close to her. And we went around a corner, she grabbed the wheel, and sent the --

Jax: And sent the car flying into the sea. Yeah, I know. I was there, Brenda. I was in the chopper with Jerry. We saw the whole thing. He lowered me down; I jumped out of the helicopter and into the water and couldn't find you.

Brenda: I'm -- I'm so sorry, Jax. I don't remember anything after I hit the water. I woke up a few days later on a yacht with a bunch of doctors around.

Jax: Why didn't you call me? And why didn't you come home?

Brenda: Because when I realized what my mother was capable of because of this illness, I had to find out if I was sick, too, so I went to a clinic in Switzerland. And you -- you know the rest.

Jax: No. I don't know because I burned the tests. I never looked at them.

Brenda: Well, you shouldn’t have. If you would've looked at them, you would've seen that what I did was for the best.

Jax: For whom? I mean, you made this decision all on your own. You know, I mean, did you ever consider that my life would be turned upside down completely?

Brenda: Did I consider it? Did I -- that's all I considered.

Jax: So you're sick?

Brenda: Yes.

Jax: I'm sorry.

Brenda: Don't be sorry. Jax, you knew. I told you, remember? I told you that I knew I had this. I showed all the symptoms. None of this matters anymore. The only thing that matters is that your life is in danger. The man who rescued me -- I stayed with him, and now he's --

Jax: He's here?

Brenda: Yes. This is what I have been trying to tell you. This is the only reason why I have disrupted your life like this.

Jax: Luis Alcazar. Of course. You're what Sonny and I have in common. So are you with this guy now?

Brenda: This is the man who saved my life. This is the man who took me to Switzerland. He got me the best doctors in the world. He promised me he'd stay with me no matter how bad it got.

Jax: I made those promises, too, Brenda.

Brenda: Yes, I know.

Jax: I made those promises. Why was his word so much easier to take than mine?

Brenda: Because I didn't love him -- at first, and because he lived thousands of miles away. And I didn't want my disease to hurt anyone, and now it has. He's killed Sonny, and now he's coming after you.

Jax: I am no more afraid of him than I would have been of your disease, Brenda.

Brenda: Well, you should be, Jax. You should be afraid of him. Sonny wasn't, either, and he had bodyguards. Don't be stupid. I saw how in love you are.

Jax: You watched the wedding?

Brenda: Yes. And I'm so happy for you. She's such a lucky girl. I mean, you know, who knows that better than me, Jax?

Jax: You know what? This is insane. What am I supposed to do with all this, Brenda?

Brenda: You're supposed to listen to me. Listen to me and take my advice. Newlyweds go on honeymoons, so take your wife, Jax, and leave town and don't let anyone know where you're going.

Carly: Okay, sit down. Listen, I know you're trying to help, but Sonny -- he was my husband, okay, and this is happening to me and my son, and I will deal with it, okay? But in my own way, in my own time, and -- look, you may not agree --

[Knock on door]

Carly: With my decision, but this is what I'm going to do and I need you to respect it.

Bobbie: Okay, I'm going to get rid of whoever that is.

Carly: No, no, I'm going to get it. I'm going to get it. It's okay.

Marco: You have a visitor.

Carly: Okay, well, it's not a good time -- ugh.

Scott: I'm sorry for the interruption, Carly.

Bobbie: Scott.

Scott: Hi, Bobbie. How are you?

Carly: Okay, you want to know what you can do, Mom, to help? I will tell you. Tell your boyfriend to stop persecuting me because this is now the second time tonight that he has barged in on me in my grief. But I guess I should be thankful now because at least he didn't break the door in.

Bobbie: Scott.

Scott: Well, Bobbie, I came here to apologize.

Bobbie: What are you apologizing for?

Carly: I'll tell you what he's apologizing for. I went to this house that Sonny used to keep when he would go -- it's a little out of town because he needed to think or he needed to relax and get away from his business. And I had barely settled in, and then Scott and his storm trooper, Taggert, bust in through the door -- without a warrant, of course -- and they accuse me of hosting a mob meeting.

Bobbie: What?

Scott: Well, Bobbie, you see, it was a misunderstanding.

Bobbie: Ah. Okay. Would you excuse us for a minute, please? I think we need to talk.

Carly: Yeah, you know what? Actually, Mom, I really -- I would very much appreciate it if I could just be alone because I need to think.

Bobbie: This is a short reprieve, though. We're going to talk about this tomorrow.

Carly: Okay. All right.

Bobbie: All right.

Carly: Okay.

Scott: Carly, I'll see you later.

Carly: Okay, get -- don't talk to me, Scott.

Scott: Thank you.

Bobbie: You're welcome.

Carly: Oh -- oh.

Sonny: Nice work.

[Carly sighs]

Courtney: Come on.

Woman: Rosemead suites. How may I direct your call?

Courtney: A.J. Quartermaine, please.

Woman: One moment.

Woman: I'm sorry, Mr. Quartermaine isn't answering. Would you like to be connected with his voice mail?

Courtney: No, that's okay. Thanks.

[Courtney sighs]

Courtney: Pretty scary night, huh, girl? No TV, no radio, no light to read by. To be perfectly honest, I -- I am pretty creeped out. No, make that really creeped out. Okay, desperate times, right?

Courtney: Come on.

Jason: Hello?

Courtney: Jason, it's Courtney. I'm really sorry to bother you.

Jason: What's wrong?

Courtney: Are you busy?

Jason: Sort of, but go ahead.

Courtney: Oh, God. I didn't know who else to call.

Jason: No, no, it's okay. Tell me.

Courtney: This probably sounds ridiculous, but I think that someone might be stalking me. A.J.'s out of town, I'm here alone. I --

Jason: I'll be right there.

Sonny: What's going on?

Jason: That was Courtney. She sounded upset. I'll check in later, okay?

Sonny: Yeah.

Courtney: There. Jason will be here soon and we'll be safe. Oh, God.

[Rosie barks]

[Pounding on door]

[Rosie barks]

[Pounding on door]

Operator: What is the nature of your emergency?

Courtney: Someone's trying to get into my apartment. I'm alone.

Mike: Courtney! Honey, it's me!

Courtney: Dad? God, I'm sorry, operator. I overreacted.

[Courtney sighs]

Mike: Honey, didn't you hear me knocking? Thank God you're home. I really -- I really needed to see my little girl.

Courtney: Dad, come in. What's wrong? Have you been drinking?

Mike: Guilty as charged. I didn't -- I didn't have anything else to do, so I decided since I couldn't make things better with Sonny, I thought I would honor his memory by tying one on and losing real big in a poker game tonight. You know, your brother used to love being right about me, and without fail, I always made sure that he was.

Courtney: Come on. Nobody's perfect. You know, least of all, Sonny. We all make mistakes, okay? You did the best you could.

[Knock on door]

Courtney: Oh. That's Jason.

Mike: Jason? What are you doing out socializing, Jason? Why aren't you trying to find who killed my son?

Carly: I hope that's vintage because it'll go really well with the chips and dips. Did you hear me? Hey.

Sonny: Huh?

Carly: What's going on? Where'd Jason go? Did you get a call? Did you get a call from Alcazar's people? Do they suspect that you're alive? What's going on? What --

Sonny: Okay, whoa, whoa, whoa. Everything -- take it easy. Everything's fine.

Carly: Yeah, but I know you better. I offer you chips with wine and you don't even blink.

Sonny: Um, I'm not hungry, that's all. I'm just not hungry.

Carly: Okay, you're not telling me something here.

Sonny: What do you mean?

Carly: All right, no, sweetie. I mean, don't -- by now, with your whole death and everything, haven't I proven to you that I can handle things? I'm a safe place for you to share what's going on with you. How many ways do I have to prove that?

Sonny: You don’t. Jason got a call from Courtney. He said she sounded upset, so he went to her. She probably feels bad about her dead brother. I don't like this. My sister grieving, Mike -- it's not right.

Carly: I know, Sonny. I hate it, too. I hate it, okay? But the alternative is, what, you really being dead? I think it's much better. You know what? It'll be over soon, like you said, and then Courtney -- she won't hurt anymore. Instead, she'll be really mad at you. Come on, sweetie, you know what? I'm actually having a good time in the meantime because I think it's the best time we have ever spent together.

Sonny: Yeah? How does that work?

Carly: Well, I have you exactly where I want you.

Sonny: Yeah? Where --

Carly: Yep. You can't go away, you can't make any calls or leave without telling me, take any meetings -- you know what? You're my captive, and you are at my mercy.

Sonny: Is that an invitation?

Carly: Yeah, you bet it is.

Sonny: What about, like, trying to keep my strength up?

Carly: Okay, well, honey, then just don't fight me, okay?

[Knock on door]

Sonny: Okay. Shh.

Carly: Shh. Take that.

Carly: Marco, I am closed for the night, okay?

Marco: It's Sammy Tagliati. Should I send him away?

Alexis: I'm serious. I'm thinking about giving up criminal law. It's just -- it's too hard. It's too much pressure; it's too much drama, too many hours, too many criminals.

Ned: So, from a high-powered attorney to a stay-at-home mom in one easy step?

Alexis: All right, why do you have to take everything to the extreme? Or is that what I do? In any case, never mind. There are a lot of lawyers -- I know there are a lot of lawyers that have reasonable hours, that have never set foot in a police station or a jail cell. I'll just take an extended maternity leave and I'll figure out a more suitable specialty. There's always tort. There's, you know, trust and estate --

Ned: Marital mediation --

Alexis: Hmm. Probate --

Ned: Hmm.

Scott: Hey, Bobbie, look at all the candles. Look how romantic this is. Come on, we can't be fighting now.

Bobbie: Scott, you are not going to charm your way out of this one. You've got a lot of nerve, using my daughter's pain as a steppingstone for your career.

Scott: That's not what I was doing.

Bobbie: I overheard you at the police station admitting as much to Taggert. And when I confronted you on it, you put a spin on it just like you always do. But, Scott, there's no way to put a spin on this. How dare you stage a raid on Sonny's second home with his grieving widow inside? Carly must have been terrified.

Scott: Oh, now -- now, wait a second. I think Carly's being a little overly dramatic here, you know? I have a legitimate reason to think that there was a meeting of the Port Charles mob chiefs going on.

Bobbie: Well --

Alexis: Sorry to interrupt, but of course you're talking right where I can hear you, so naturally I have to ask you -- did you have a warrant? I didn't think you did. Just so you know, he can be charged with criminal trespass, for starters -- unless of course you want me to go on.

Bobbie: Please do. I think I'd like to hear this.

Nurse: Dr. Quartermaine?

Monica: Hmm?

Nurse: You forgot to sign Mr. Jackson's release papers.

Monica: Well, I'm not surprised. That was a long surgery.

Nurse: It was an honor to be on your team.

Monica: Well, thank you.

Nurse: Get some rest.

Monica: I'll try. Oh, my pen --

Man: Sorry, Dr. Quartermaine. You're not done for the night after all.

Brenda: I understand if you don't want to listen to anything I have to say, but you have to listen to this. You need to protect yourself, you need to protect your wife, you need to leave town.

Jax: Brenda, Brenda, you need to slow down a little bit here, okay? And excuse me if all this is a little much for me. But you pop out of the shadows four years after you died as Alcazar's -- what? His wife? His girlfriend?

Brenda: I never would've married anyone else.

Jax: Oh. Meaning I did?

Brenda: No. No, I didn't mean that.

Jax: Of course, you had me at a slight disadvantage because you knew that I was alive and I thought that you were dead. Do you have any idea what I went through? I grieved you, Brenda. I mean, all the light -- all the light went out. There was no joy in the world anymore. And it took a long time. Then I finally accepted it as the price I paid for finding the one great love of my life. You know, it's better to have loved and lost, and all that -- that I, you know, shouldn't expect any joy or light. But then a miracle happened, and her name is Skye. And she's my wife and she's inside right now. God, Brenda. This is my wedding night.

Brenda: I'm so sorry. I'm sorry.

Jax: Why didn't you call me sooner? I mean, where have you been since Sonny died?

Brenda: Jason grabbed me. I tried to get away, but I couldn't.

Skye: Jax?

Jax: I have to go.

Brenda: Of course.

Jax: Hey, hey -- this is not over. I need to see you tomorrow.

Brenda: No, you can't see me again. I'm leaving. I just came to warn you.

Jax: No, Brenda. Brenda -- you cannot do this again. You can't leave and just leave things unresolved, okay? You owe me that much.

Skye: Jax, where are you?

Jax: Listen, the cottage is vacant. Okay, listen to me. The cottage is vacant. No one is going to look for you there. Take my phone and promise that you'll meet me there tomorrow.

Jax: The cottage, tomorrow. Will you be there?

Skye: Jax! Where are you?

Brenda: Yes, I'll meet you.

Jax: Okay.

Skye: There you are. I was beginning to think you abandoned me on our wedding night.

Jax: No. Not a chance. You look incredible.

Jax: I don't think you've ever looked more beautiful to me.

Skye: Oh. You don't have to say that.

Jax: It's true.

Skye: Well, I'm glad you feel that way, but I think for the first time in my life I actually feel beautiful, you know? And it's not just because of the way I look but because, for the first time, I am in love with an amazing man who loves me back, and there are no secrets and there's nothing that we have –

Max: Looks like Jax and Skye have settled in for the night.

Jason: That's good. Just keep your distance. But stay alert, and if anyone else shows up, you call me.

Max: So far, there's been no sign of Brenda or Alcazar.

Jason: Well, that could change.

Mike: You know, you are a man to be reckoned with on a cell phone, issuing cryptic commands. But I'm not impressed with your performance in the line of fire. If you had done better, my son would be alive right now!

Courtney: Daddy, don't. I asked Jason to come.

Mike: Why?

Courtney: Because being with Jason makes me feel closer to Sonny.

Mike: Oh, I see -- unlike being with me.

Courtney: No, that's -- that's not what I meant.

Mike: No, you're -- you're right, sweetheart. You know, you're right. No, no, no, Sonny considered Jason a friend. He even trusted him, and that's more than anyone can say for me.

Courtney: Come here. Sonny would not want you to beat yourself up like this. He'd want us to move on.

Mike: All right, I'll try, honey, but I don't know if I can.

Courtney: Wait. Dad, why don't you stay the night?

Jason: Yeah, Mike. You shouldn't drive.

Mike: Look, don't worry about it. I left my car outside of some dive down on Courtland Street. I've been walking ever since.

Courtney: I feel so awful for him.

Jason: I don't know if I can help him, but maybe I can help you. Now, what's this about a stalker?

Alexis: There's criminal trespass, there's harassment, and then of course we get into civil rights violations.

Scott: Do you ever get tired of representing the lowlifes in this town?

Bobbie: Excuse me. Is this how you refer to my daughter?

Scott: No, no, no. I wasn't talking about your daughter. I was talking about, you know, the mobsters like Sonny, enforcers like Jason, and, you know, killers like --

Alexis: Luke?

Scott: Luke's gone. Sonny is dead. So why are you still bugging me? Shouldn't you be home knitting up some booties, sipping some herb tea? Your hormones must be going crazy. You should do everybody a favor and plug a pickle in your mouth.

Ned: Why don't I plug something in yours?

Carly: I appreciate your concern, but as you can see, I am just fine. I've got plenty of candles, plenty of guards at my beck and call, and I'm certainly not afraid of a little power outage.

Sammy: I got to hand it to you. You got spunk.

Carly: Spunk?

Sammy: I like that in a woman. And you're smart. I like that, too. There's a lot I like about you, Carly. You're used to leaning on a very powerful man. Now that he's gone, you're going to feel the void. I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way.

Carly: How about that? The lights are back on, and the helpless little widow survived. Which means that I don't need you to hold my hand or try and pick up where Sonny left off. Because you can’t. No one can.

Sammy: Your grief is obviously clouding your better judgment. I can be an ally to you during the coming power shifts. Now, there's a meeting of the families tomorrow. Why don't you let me escort you and give us a chance to get to know each other a little better?

Carly: Okay, how many times do you need to hear this? I am not interested in you. I will handle this meeting solo like I handled the last meeting, like I will handle all future meetings. Marco? Mr. Tagliati is leaving. Will you please show him to the elevator?

Sammy: I'll try not to hold this attitude against you.

Carly: Yeah, you do that.

Sonny: That's it, I'm not doing this. I'm not doing it anymore.

Jason: When did you get the first call?

Courtney: Um -- there were the two at Kelly’s and the one here tonight.

Jason: Now, Courtney, just relax.

Courtney: He called me "Daisy." Okay, he said he was watching me. I don't -- I guess it probably means that he's a customer at Kelly’s.

Jason: Okay, why do you think Kelly’s?

Courtney: Well, I found a flier from the Oasis there. Let there be light. Um, I feel a lot better now. You know, Jason, thanks for coming, but you can go back to whatever I took you from. Everything's a lot less creepy now that the power's back on. I -- I'm fine. Really.

Jason: I don't think you are.

Ned: Haven't you figured out by now your worst enemy is your own big mouth?

Bobbie: Ah. I'm sorry. You know, we were being really disruptive and you were obviously in the middle of something, so why don't you go finish up and we'll discuss our problems in private.

Scott: What?

Bobbie: Who are you? And what have you done to the man I was falling for?

Ned: You know what scares me? Without a viable opponent, Scott is going to win that election by default. Someone has got to run against him, Alexis -- someone articulate, capable, smart, progressive.

Alexis: A woman couldn't hurt.

Ned: Someone with trial savvy who's got good courtroom demeanor.

Alexis: Okay, I'll do it.

[Music plays]

Alexis: I know what you're going to say. I know you're going to say it's too stressful, it's too many hours. But my daughter is going to grow up in this town, and if I have the means to make Port Charles a safer place, then it is my obligation to do so, up to and including blocking the election of a corrupt incompetent with so many personal axes to grind that you can't even keep track.

Ned: Yes.

Alexis: Huh? What?

Ned: Go for it. Wipe the floor with that idiot.

Scott: Bobbie, I'm the same guy. I haven't changed. It's just that my job is to clean up crime right now. See, that's where we get into trouble because most of the people that you're related to have a bad habit of breaking the law.

Bobbie: Scott, I am trying really hard to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you've got to work with me, you know? You got to try and show me that you're trying, too.

Scott: Listen to me. You are a top priority in my life. I want to make you happy. That's why I let Luke escape, and that's why I'm trying to protect Carly any way I can.

Sonny: We got to figure something out here because I'm going to cut all connections to my business.

Carly: Okay, what, and blow your whole plan?

Sonny: I'm not going to risk you.

Carly: Okay, there's no risk. There is no risk involved here, Sonny. What I'm going to do is I'll go to the meeting and I will tell them that I will honor all of your previous agreements, and then I will tell them to leave me alone.

Sonny: We don't know if this is going to work out, is what I'm saying.

Carly: Sweetie, do you have a better alternative?

Sonny: Yes, I do.

Carly: What?

Sonny: Jason.

Carly: Jason is out looking for Alcazar and his mysterious girlfriend. Do you really want him to stop doing that so he can take a meeting that doesn't matter anyway because you're not dead? Come on. You have told me that this is going to be over soon. So until it is, just let me help you.

Jason: Would you -- would you feel safer if I stayed on the couch?

Courtney: I couldn't ask you to do that.

Jason: Well, you didn't. Got an extra blanket?

Courtney: I sure do.

Monica: Ooh!

Man: This is my boss. He's been shot. It's on you to save his life.

Jax: If you become ill, Brenda, I'm going to use all the money and resources I have to find a cure. And if I can't, I will stay by your side no matter what happens.

[Phone rings]

Brenda: Jax?

Jax: Hey. You said you'd meet me, but you didn't promise.

Brenda: I promise.

Jax: Nobody leaves, remember?

Brenda: Nobody leaves.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Edward: If you plan to win, you should marry your baby's father.

Elizabeth: Can you tell me what you were doing with Courtney all night?

Lucky: He'll step on anybody to get what he wants. That could include you.

Alcazar: If I die, so do you.

Jax: Let me worry about Skye.

Brenda: How are you going to handle it?

Jax: I know exactly what I hall her.
