>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Jason: I would never hurt you on purpose.

Elizabeth: That's important to me.

Man: The chances of her survival are slim.

Alcazar: Somehow she got out. I'm certain of it.

Brenda: Push "talk," ask for Sonny.

Man: Where should I tell him to meet you?

Brenda: St. Timothy's church.

Carly: I think you're making a mistake. I think you're walking into a trap.

Alcazar: I want Corinthos dead now.

Sonny: Ok, I'm not going to agree to do anything unless I speak to the woman myself.

Man: He wants to talk to you.

Brenda: No. No.

Man: Then he's not going to meet with you, which is fine by me, but I get the watch regardless. You're wasting everyone's time.

Brenda: Give me the phone.

Man: I'm passing her the phone.

Sonny: Who is this? All right, you know what? Unless I have a reason and a name, I'm not going to meet anybody at St. Timothy's tonight.

Brenda: No, I can't -- no, no, listen, you have -- you have to talk to him for me, ok? You talk to him.

Sonny: She -- she's on the phone, but she won't talk. Well --

Carly: Hey, I got the peppers you wanted. Is everything ok?

Brenda: You tell him it's about Alcazar. You tell him it's important. And -- and tell him -- tell him to come alone.

Man: I'll say anything you want, but I don't think he'll go for it.

Brenda: Well, listen, listen, listen -- tell him -- tell him it's in his best interest. Please?

Man: Again, she says it's about Alcazar and you have to come alone. Oh, and she says it's in your best interest.

Sonny: All right. I'll be there alone.

Man: It's set. He'll show up by himself.

Brenda: Thank you.

Man: You'd better have something good for him. I could tell by the way he talks your friend Sonny doesn't mess around.

Brenda: Yeah.

Man: Ok.

Carly: Go where alone? When?

Sonny: Tonight. Some woman wants to meet me at St. Timothy's.

Roy: It's been arranged. I will finish Sonny tonight. Your yacht sinking is the perfect diversion. He'll be so focused on you, he won't even see me coming.

Alcazar: I don't want reassurances, I want results.

Roy: I can't get to the man where he lives. His windows are bulletproof, he's got guards at all the access points.

Alcazar: It happens tonight or Felicia dies.

Alcazar: Any sign of Brenda?

Guard: A gas station attendant two blocks from the lake said he saw her about 45 minutes ago.

Alcazar: Are you certain it was her?

Guard: He IDd her photograph, said she was asking where to find the nearest pay phone.

Alcazar: What'd he tell her?

Guard: The attendant didn't know of a pay phone anywhere close and he wouldn't give her his, so she took off on foot. We know the general direction, and we're searching, but she could've gone anywhere.

Alcazar: Brenda's obviously trying to contact Corinthos and Jax. We have to find her before she does.

Sonny: Look, you'll be riding over with me just in case, you know, something happens.

Jason: That's what you want?

Sonny: Yeah. Give me five minutes with Carly, will you?

Jason: No problem.

Carly: Hey. Can we discuss this, or don't I get an opinion?

Sonny: You think it's a trap. So do I.

Carly: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: Alcazar had that woman call. He wants me out in the open.

Carly: Yeah, that is exactly why you shouldn't go.

Sonny: Ok, if it's a trap, that means I -- I can turn the situation around into my advantage.

Carly: Ok, but it doesn't have to be tonight. You know, you don't know what Alcazar is --

Sonny: Carly, Carly. We have a child out of the country, you're living like a prisoner, my business is suffering. I'm ending this tonight.

Jason: I'm going out for a while.

Elizabeth: At least I know you're not going back out to Alcazar's yacht. It's already at the bottom of the harbor.

Jason: I didn't put it there.

Elizabeth: Thanks for telling me. Now, I don't suppose you could tell me anything else? Forget I asked.

Jason: You want to shoot a game of pool?

Elizabeth: I thought you had to leave.

Jason: I have a little time. I'll let you break.

Elizabeth: All right, you're on. But I should warn you, I have been practicing.

Jason: Oh.

Elizabeth: Do you ever get nervous?

Jason: About?

Elizabeth: About risking your life, breaking the law, whatever it is you're going to do tonight. Do you ever think about getting caught or killed or you just assume that it would never happen?

Jason: Uh -- huh. I know the risks and I try not to take stupid chances, but it's what I do and what I'm good at. So stop stalling and break.

Elizabeth: That doesn't mean that things can't go wrong.

Elizabeth: How much do you remember about that morning I found you shot in the snow?

Jason: I remember you kneeling over me, yelling at me to get up and walk. And how -- man, how bad it hurt once I did, but at the same time, I knew you were saving my life.

Elizabeth: You know, if I had decided not to go for a walk that morning or even stop for a cup of coffee first, you'd probably be dead. I would've never spent that Christmas with you or gotten a piece of red glass or my post card from Italy. Those things changed me. They made my life after you different from my life before. I was kind of hoping that they would've changed you, too. I know that's not fair of me to ask --

Jason: No, it's fair to -- to want someone you care about to stay safe and to ask where they're going and when they'll be back. It's -- it's all fair, Elizabeth. But it's nothing I can give you.

Sonny: All right. Good night, Michael. We love you. Seems like he's having a real good time.

Carly: Well, I'm glad that we called him before you left.

Sonny: You can still fly down there if you want, be with him.

Carly: Why? So I can sit there and wait by the phone and see how this turned out? No, thank you. You know, I don't have to agree with what you're doing, but I'm certainly not going to hide from it.

Sonny: This is the first time Alcazar's shown any kind of weakness. He didn't sink that yacht of his on purpose. Jason says that, you know, he was going crazy when he thought his girlfriend might've been caught onboard.

Carly: Yeah?

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: Well, maybe Alcazar knew that Jason was listening, and the truth is we don't know what he's doing and the whole thing could be a damn setup.

Sonny: Maybe, but, you know, I've been playing catch-up from the start, and it's my chance now to turn it around. I need you to hold it together, Carly.

Carly: Oh, you think I'm going to panic?

Sonny: Well, it's been known to happen.

Carly: Ok, you know what? I did not stay here to make things harder, I stayed here to help. I mean, why do you think I am sitting here fussing over these wines, ok? It's because I don't want to go to you and wrap my arms around you and ask you to stay. Ok, look, just the sooner this is over, the better, ok, because then you and I, we can get back to life as normal -- or as close as we come to that.

Sonny: You're such liar.

Carly: Oh. Ok. Well, you knew that when you married me for the third time, so, you know, you don't get to complain. Can you just see that I am being a supportive wife and just appreciate that and don't critique my performance?

Sonny: I appreciate you. I know what you've given me.

Carly: I love you. And I'm with you.

Sonny: I know.

Elizabeth: Wherever you're going, it looks like you're going to get wet.

Jason: Is the storm going to bother you?

Elizabeth: No. No, it'll give me something to think about besides waiting for you to come back. Or maybe I should just work on my pool game since I'm not quite as good as I thought.

Jason: You know, if things work out, you'll be able to go home tomorrow.

Elizabeth: Oh. I guess I should be happy about that.

Jason: You're not?

Elizabeth: There's a lot more room here than in my studio, and the view -- the view is just spectacular. You don't have a whole lot of furniture, but what you do have is comfortable, and the pool table is a plus. I'm not crazy about the guards outside, but, you know, it's not really your fault.

Jason: I like having you here.

Elizabeth: Are you going to miss me when I go?

Jason: Yeah.

Elizabeth: Enough to call and ask me out, maybe take me for a ride? Or are you going to go back to avoiding me at Kelly's?

Jason: I can't really tell you because I don't know what's going to happen or how either of us are going to deal with it. But I do know what I get from you, Elizabeth. You're so beautiful, smart. You make me see things I've never even noticed until you've pointed them out. You have a lot of dreams, and that's good because I -- I hardly have any, so I can believe in yours. That's what you bring to me. I mean, what can I give you? Motorcycle rides and pool lessons. That's about it.

Elizabeth: You listened when no one else could hear me. You trusted me to live my own life when I didn't even trust myself. You make me happy. You make me feel free.

Carly: Hey, it's raining out.

Sonny: Yeah, I know.

Carly: Don't you want your overcoat?

Sonny: No, I'll be in the car or in the church.

Carly: Why St. Timothy's?

Sonny: Well, I think for someone who's probably never been to Port Charles, St. Timothy's is, you know, central, easy to get to.

Carly: Hey, can you do me a favor?

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: When you're in the church, either before or after the meeting, can you just say a little prayer? Just ask God to watch over you?

Sonny: Ok, I'll try.

Carly: No, promise me, promise me. Ok, I know you need a little prayer. You say prayers for everyone else, and I just --

Sonny: Sometimes I pray that, you know, for the patience to put up with you.

Carly: All right, well, you know what? I appreciate that, really I do. And maybe I should do the same thing -- you know, ask God for a little divine guidance to deal with you when you're being unreasonable, but that only happens every, what, 10 minutes?

Sonny: I'm not unreasonable.

Carly: Oh, really? Since when?

Sonny: Well, sometimes I ask for simples requests, but --

Carly: Oh, yeah, like do this now when I tell you, don't ask questions, don't have an opinion, and, most importantly, do not try --

Sonny: Try to help.

Carly: Oh -- you're not even pretending to deny it?

Sonny: Well, why should I pretend when, you know, you don't listen, much less do what I ask?

Carly: Oh, I see, you're asking me. I don't know how I missed that one. Oh, it's got to be your speech impediment.

Sonny: Oh, I got a speech impediment now?

Carly: Yeah, well, you have to, you must because it's the only reason probably that your mouth is incapable of forming those words "please, Carly," or "I'd appreciate it if, Carly," or "maybe we could discuss," or -- oh, here's the most impossible and the most unachievable -- which is, "you're right, Carly, I was wrong."

Sonny: You're right, Carly, I was wrong.

Carly: Oh, really? When?

Sonny: Yeah. Every time I -- every time I said we were over, every time I said we were better off apart. I'm better off with you, and I always will be. Please, Carly, will you spend the rest of your life with me? I would appreciate it if we could spend the next 50 years fighting and making up. Maybe we can discuss how happy you make me and how much I love you.

Carly: Don't you see? All you had to do was ask.

Jason: Sonny.

Sonny: Yeah?

Jason: It's time.

Sonny: All right. I'll be right there.

Sonny: Ok. Ok?

Carly: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: All right.

Sonny: I love you.

Priest: I'm father Dade. Can I help you?

Brenda: Hi. Um -- uh, no, I'm just waiting for someone, so --

Father Dade: Ah.

Brenda: Oh, do you need to lock up?

Father Dade: I was just going to start.

Brenda: Well, I'll wait outside.

Father Dade: No, I'm certainly not going to throw you out in the rain.

Brenda: Oh.

Father Dade: Closing up the church at night is really quite an ordeal. I start in the basement, I work my way all the way through, so you got plenty of time before I get to the outer doors.

Brenda: Thanks.

Father Dade: Ok? Is there anything I can do to help?

Brenda: Oh, no, no, I'm -- I'm fine. I'm just -- just waiting.

Father Dade: Ok?

Brenda: He'll either come or he won't.

Father Dade: All right.

Father Dade: If there's anything that you need, I will be right through there, down in the basement. You just give a shout and I will come running back up, all right?

Brenda: Oh, actually, I know this church really well. I almost got married here. That room down there is -- that's where I -- it's where I almost put my dress on. So, how long have you been here?

Father Dade: Three years.

Brenda: Oh, well, it was five years ago, so -- yeah.

Father Dade: You almost got married?

Brenda: Yeah. I picked the church. He's catholic and I always thought this church was really beautiful. My mother's Episcopalian.

Father Dade: Hmm.

Brenda: I don't even know why I picked this church for him to meet me here. I just -- I get a little impulsive sometimes.

Father Dade: Hmm. Nothing wrong with that.

Brenda: Well, ok. There's something wrong with it sometimes, when you can't really trust your impulses and when your impulses don't make any sense. Do I seem rational to you?

Father Dade: Yes.

Brenda: Oh, good. It's just I have this terminal illness and sometimes it's hard for me to think clearly.

Father Dade: I'm sorry.

Brenda: No, don't be sorry. It's fine. I'm used to it. Even before I had it, I always wondered why I did certain things. Now I just get to wonder whether it's my disease making my decisions or me. Like this guy that I was supposed to meet here.

Father Dade: Mm-hmm.

Brenda: I could've given him this message over the phone, but I didn't. I had someone else tell him to meet me here. That's crazy, right?

Father Dade: Not necessarily. Why'd you ask to meet him here?

Brenda: Well, I --

Father Dade: Sometimes it's -- it's good to examine your motives. Why you did something is almost as important as the action itself.

Brenda: I asked him to meet me here because I have to warn him about something.

Father Dade: Which you could've done over the phone.

Brenda: And I want to see him.

[Knock on door]

Carly: Marco, what is it? Something happened?

Elizabeth: Hi.

Carly: Hi. What?

Elizabeth: Um, can I come in?

Carly: Why not.

Elizabeth: Thanks.

Carly: "Thank you."

Elizabeth: Look, I know that Sonny and Jason are already gone --

Carly: If Zander remembered something, really, just write it down because we cannot call them right now.

Elizabeth: Zander's asleep, and I'm staring out at the rain, waiting. I -- I thought that maybe I'd come over and, I don't know, wait with you.

Carly: Oh, nothing like a good old-fashioned catfight to take your mind off problems? Look, you know what? I can't do it because I'm not in the mood right now.

Elizabeth: Ok, considering we're both sitting around, terrified for someone we care about, I think that we actually might be able to, I don't know, help each other? Right -- a temporary delusion. Pay no attention.

Carly: Elizabeth, what do you know about peppers?

Elizabeth: Excuse me?

Carly: Yellow peppers, to be a little more specific. You know, cutting them up, taking the seeds out, marinating them in olive oil, and --

Elizabeth: You mean, like, for a salad?

Carly: Yeah, I -- I have no idea. Ok, I don't know, I am not the cook Sonny is, but this is my big chance to prove to him that I can slice a vegetable. So, I don't know, if you want to be useful, you can show me.

Sonny: Carly and I called Michael tonight. He swam across the cabana pool underwater.

Jason: Good for him.

Sonny: Yeah, I told him I was going to see him do it, you know, once this whole thing is over.

Jason: It's raining pretty hard tonight.

Sonny: Yeah, well, at least it's not snowing. You know how much I hate freezing.

Jason: Yeah, but rain makes it hard to spot movement. In the night, it's almost impossible. Alcazar could put a sniper on the roof.

Sonny: Alcazar's yacht has sunk. You told me he was jittery, he was losing focus. Were you wrong?

Jason: No.

Sonny: Ok, now's the time to make a move. I want to see what this guy's after almost as much as I want him gone.

Jason: Sonny, there are other ways to end this.

Sonny: This is my way to get answers.

Jason: And that justifies the risk?

Sonny: Are you telling me not to do this?

Jason: No, I'm reminding you that you have a wife and a little boy. You're their world, you're the reason Carly gets out of bed and does all the crazy stuff she does. And you're the reason Michael swam underwater across the pool, because you told him you'd come and see it. And he's counting on you to be there. Yeah, maybe you, Sonny, need your answers, but your family needs you more. So be sure about this.

Carly: Oh, my God -- be careful with that knife.

Elizabeth: I'm not going to cut myself.

Carly: No, I'm worried about the knife, ok? Don't nick it, don't dull it -- the edge or anything because Sonny acts like they're made out of platinum, ok? He gets very angry at me if I cut my pizza with it. Ok, and also one time -- one time he got mad at me because I tried to fix the screw on one of Michael's transformers. I mean, but come on, it's a stainless steel knife. Really, how much damage is it going to do?

Elizabeth: You and Sonny must really love each other.

Carly: What, you're just figuring that out right now?

Elizabeth: Well, you make allowances for each other. I mean, you guys have stayed together even though you must drive each other absolutely crazy. You're waiting for him tonight and you don't even seem scared. Is that how you support him?

Carly: Why bother talking about it? You know, Sonny's job, that's his problem. My fear is mine.

Brenda: Is it time for us to leave?

Father Dade: I got to go to my office to do some paperwork. Unless you'd like me to ask you to leave. Would it be easier for you if I gave you a reason to stop waiting?

Brenda: No, I -- I don't want to do the easy thing, I want to do the right thing. Seems like I've been trying to do the right thing for a long time. You know, every time I go to make a choice, I always ask myself, how will this affect the people that I love? Because all I want to do is protect them, but -- I don't know, it just seems in the end I always do the opposite.

Father Dade: And how have you harmed these people?

Brenda: By trusting someone when I didn't know what he was capable of.

Father Dade: Well, you're not responsible for another person's actions.

Brenda: No, I -- I am responsible.

Father Dade: Well --

Brenda: I'm responsible. When I found out that I was sick, I ran away because I didn't want anyone that I loved to see me this way. See, I wasn't strong enough, so I ran. I let somebody take care of me who I didn't even know because his heart wasn't open. See, that way there's no chance of me ever breaking it. I asked this person to promise me that he would never, ever let me go home, and that's why all of this is happening.

Father Dade: May I tell you what I think?

Brenda: Oh, please.

Father Dade: When you act out of love and selfless concern for another person, you've done right. You can't play God or predict how others are going to respond to your actions. If you've tried to do your best for the people you love, you can be at peace with yourself.

Brenda: But don't you think it's selfish of me to want to see him?

Father Dade: Maybe you should ask yourself, would he want to see you?

Brenda: I don't know. Uh, you know what? I'm sorry. I'm not even a parishioner and I'm taking up all of your time, so --

Father Dade: It's my job, parishioner or not.

Brenda: Well, it doesn't matter because he's not coming.

Father Dade: Why not?

Brenda: Because he always leaves me standing in the rain.

Sonny: Carly was right, I should've worn a raincoat. I'm going to get soaked.

Jason: Ok, I'm going to get out here, Max is going to pull the car around to the other side of the plaza, which is closer to the church doors.

Sonny: No. The car's staying here. So are you.

Jason: You need backup.

Sonny: She said come alone, Jason.

Jason: I'm not going to walk you up to the church doors. I need to take position so I can see the roof to cover you in case this is an ambush.

Sonny: Wait 10 minutes.

Jason: 10 -- 10 minutes? I need to be in position before you get out of this car.

Sonny: This is an order.

Jason: My job is --

Sonny: This is an order!

Jason: My job is to protect you.

Sonny: Your job is to do what I tell you to do, whether you think it's right or you think I'm dead wrong. It's not your decision to make. Now, you knew the rules when you got the job. Now, you either do what I need you to do or I'm going to have Max take you home, but I do not want you to show up in front of that church --

Jason: Fine.

Sonny: Unless you give me 10 minutes.

Jason: Fine. Fine. My job is to follow your orders, and that's what I'm going to do, but I'm going to tell you right now because I have to -- you are taking an unnecessary risk. You told me the worst thing to do is let something get personal, and that's what you're doing right now.

Sonny: Then I will --

Jason: You're not leaving here because it's smart, Sonny. You're going out there because Alcazar is daring you and you want your answers.

Sonny: Then I'll get what I deserve, right, because I'm a professional and I can't see what's in front of me and make a decision to walk away because this bastard comes out of nowhere, screws up my life, and I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of him!   Yes, it's personal! That's why I'm going to ask you as a friend, stop fighting me with this stuff! Please! Let me do what I got to do.

Jason: Fine, 10 minutes.

Sonny: You know what's funny? Last time I was here was when I left Brenda at the altar. And it was raining then, too.

Carly: You know, Jason used to cook for me.

Elizabeth: Oh, I can't even picture that.

Carly: It was really not a big deal. He cooks like a normal person, unlike Sonny, who acts like it's a cross between brain surgery and, like, a sacred mystery all rolled into one.

Elizabeth: Well, have you ever tried to learn? I mean, maybe cooking would turn into something fun you and Sonny can do together.

Carly: There are other fun things that Sonny and I do together. And for Jason's sake, I hope that you do, too. Or are you getting out while you still have the chance?

Elizabeth: You'd like that, wouldn't you?

Carly: No, I'd like it if Jason didn't get hurt. Ok, he is so busy protecting you, he's forgotten about protecting himself. Do yourself and do him a favor and don't lead him on. Don't bail at the 11th hour and decide that his life is too scary or too intense and that you'd much rather be worshipped from afar than standing right next to him and dealing with whatever happens. You need to figure out what you want and what you can handle, and then you need to share that with Jason.

Elizabeth: Well, are you and Sonny always that honest with each other?

Carly: Yeah -- gotten there. Somehow we have gotten there.

Elizabeth: Enjoy your dinner.

Carly: Thanks. Thank you. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Elizabeth: Thank you for yours.

[Music plays]

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Skye: Those are all symptoms of fear, Jax. I don't get it. I wouldn't think you'd be afraid of anything in your life.

Felicia: Roy is not a killer.

Alcazar: You better hope you're wrong about that.

Brenda: Sonny!
