>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Jax: I am planning to make a preemptive bid.

Skye: You better write this down because I'm only going to say it once.

Jason: If you go up against Sonny, you're going to fail.

Carly: You're going to drop me and our family so you can be with Alexis?

Sonny: No.

Carly: Then what?

Sonny: If the baby's mine, I'm not abandoning it.

Bobbie: Scott saved your daughter tonight. What's up with the third degree?

Scott: Anybody here?

Scott: I get this note -- "Help me decipher the cobwebs." It smells like whiskey. I knew it was you, Spencer. You got too much time on your hands now that Laura's gone.

Luke: You got it all figured out.

Scott: Yeah.

Luke: So why'd you come?

Scott: Look, this is a game that you're going to play by yourself.

Luke: Hold it. This is not a game. Now, what the hell happened here, Baldwin?

[Woman moans]

Edward: This moment will go down in history as the beginning and the end of Jasper Jacks.

Skye: Well, you know the old saying -- history is made at night.

Edward: Well, no, I don't know that, but I like it. It's about time a woman beat that Aussie dot his own game. You're able to find out what Jax is offering for Treycon with no problems, huh?

Skye: Not one, and I have the exact figure.

Edward: Good. I'll come in higher in the morning. So what's he offering? Skye? Skye, you there? Hello?

Jason: Felicia, you put up $1 million in cash to buy a pier with Roy? Where did it come from, P.I. work?

Roy: You don't have to answer that.

Felicia: I inherited the money from my great-uncle Geraldo.

Jason: Yeah, Sonny already had a deal in play on this property. Now, if you really did put up any money towards buying it, you'll understand you can only lose.

Carly: Hey. Hey. Come here.

Michael: What's wrong, Mommy?

Sonny: The night we slept together, you got pregnant, didn't you?

Alexis: Uh, excuse me?

Sonny: Excuse you for which thing? All those times you said you were fainting and you told me you had the flu? Lying to me about why you were at Mercy Hospital? Moving out of the penthouse to delay my figuring it out?

Alexis: Has it ever entered your mind that not everything that I do is any of your business?

Sonny: It is my business if it's my child.

Alexis: This doesn't concern you and --

Sonny: Am I the father?

Ned: No. You're not the father. I am.

Ned: You seem as surprised as I was when Alexis told me. It's a very complicated situation and actually, Sonny, we don't really need you here to make things even more complicated. So, you insisted on an answer and I gave you one. We'd really like you to leave now.

Sonny: Is it true?

Ned: I told you. I told you he'd come here and he'd ask and he'd want to know the truth and we'd have to tell him. And now he's going to tell Carly and it's going to be all over town and we're going to have to deal with that. You want the truth? All right, here's the truth. I want Alexis enough to marry her. Enough to want her even when she walked out on our wedding. Enough to let her cry on my shoulder when Carly came back to you. And enough to reach out and hold her one last time, even though I know it wouldn't last because I'm in a relationship with her sister, who's going to be brokenhearted as soon as she finds out, as soon as Carly tells everyone in town, and that's why we wanted our privacy, Sonny, okay? Because there's a third person involved, but it's not you. So, if you'll just excuse us, please?

Sonny: Hey. Was one single word of what he said the truth?

Carly: Hey, what are you doing here, Mr. Man?

Michael: Uncle Sonny's making dinner.

Leticia: Yeah. Mr. Corinthos called this afternoon and said to bring over Michael for a special dinner.

Michael: Why are you sad?

Carly: Oh, you know what? Mommy heard a sad story and you know how Mommy can get sometimes, very emotional. You know what, though? Uncle Sonny had to go -- had to take care of something. Something really important.

Michael: But is he still going to make us dinner?

Carly: No, honey. You know what? Plans have changed, but that doesn't mean we can't go have dinner. What if I hitch a ride with you and Leticia, we go to your favorite restaurant and get burgers and fries?

Michael: And should we get something for Uncle Sonny?

Carly: Um -- honey -- he's busy tonight.

Leticia: Well, I, for one, am starving. Come on. Last one to the elevator is a rotten egg.

Michael: The elevator's here, Mommy.

Carly: I'm coming.

Felicia: We "can only lose"? What exactly does that mean?

Jason: If you sell the pier now, you can double your investment and walk away with a million-dollar profit in one week, no hassles.

Roy: Yeah, thanks, Jason. That's really great, that math lesson, but she can add, and so can I.

Jason: Seriously, Felicia, what do you know about running a waterfront operation?

Felicia: My partner knows quite a bit and I'm willing to learn, just like you were at one time.

Jason: I know, but it's a risky business.

Roy: Here comes the threat, right?

Jason: It takes a lot of time, a lot of money, and some serious connections.

Roy: "Connections" would be code for "Sonny." This is where we're supposed to get scared. You tell your boss we're not impressed, and we're not selling.

Jason: This isn't about business for you, Roy. It's personal.

Skye: You ready?

Edward: Of course I'm ready. I thought I got cut off.

Skye: I need 10 cases of your house draft.

Edward: Oh. Jax is there, hmm?

Skye: That's correct. I need 10 cases exactly.

Edward: Or you're trying to tell me something. There are 12 bottles in a case, right?

Skye: Right.

Edward: 10 times 12 -- that's 120. That means that Jax's opening bid is 120 million, right?

Skye: That's correct. When can I expect delivery?

Edward: Well, we can have your two-timing pirate bankrupt by the end of the fiscal year.

[Edward laughs]

Skye: Oh, I'm afraid that's not good enough.

Edward: Well, you hold up your end and he'll be panhandling on Courtland street by fall, if not before.

Skye: Well, if that's the best you can do, but if you can do it sooner, all the better.

Edward: Well, I'll set the ball into motion right now.

Skye: Good. Thank you. Oh. I thought that you were sleeping.

Jax: You're ordering 10 cases of house draft, exactly, at this time of night?

Skye: Well, I've realized that half of the suppliers to the nightclub industry keep the same hours as the clubs themselves. It's just easier to do business with them at that time. Hey, you're the one who wanted me to run Carly's club.

Jax: You know, your order has alarms ringing in my head.

Skye: Why?

Jax: 120 units of specialty draft. That's a rather sizable order, don't you think?

Skye: By Carly's standards maybe, but I have much higher goals.

Jax: Right. What was that about history being made at night? What was that comment?

Skye: Well, I plan on making nightclub history, and the club is a nighttime operation.

Jax: You know, you seem strangely electrified over just a liquor order. There's something else going on, isn't there?

Skye: Hey, if I'm strangely electrified by anything, it's your lips.

Jax: Over the years, I've learned to trust my instincts, and they may have been wrong where you're concerned. Was it a mistake to hand you a club when you're a recovering alcoholic?

Skye: No. No, it wasn't a mistake. Being around booze doesn't tempt me. Now, setting unattainable goals and failing -- now, that -- that tempts me. But thanks to you, I have an attainable goal. Something to make me feel like I'm in control in my life, a way to show what I can do. I owe you.

Jax: All right.

[Phone rings]

Skye: Oh, donít. Don't. Don't get it. Tell them you're busy. But let your voice mail get it.

Jax: This is Jax. Yeah. Yeah, I can be there in 20 minutes. Right, I'll see you then. Business. I have to take care of this. I promise I'll be back as soon as I can. I promise. All right?

Luke: So how is it you just happened to drive by here when the fire started?

Scott: I explained that.

Luke: It was a moonless night. How'd you see the smoke?

Scott: I got a nose for trouble.

Luke: Oh, is that what that schnoz is for?

Scott: Look, Laura's having nightmares. Maybe it's just something simple like she's dreading having to walk down the aisle with you again.

Luke: What happened up here, Baldwin?

Scott: You left your daughter with a teenage babysitter that's got boys on her mind. Where were you, anyways? Down in your wine cellar stomping grapes with a cocktail waitress?

Laura: Hey. What's going on?

Luke: Welcome home. When'd you get back?

Laura: Just now.

Scott: I would've picked you up at the airport since no one else thought to. What's -- what's going on? What are you doing up here?

Laura: I just realized something. And I guess I wanted to check the place out and see how much damage there was from the fire. I guess that's what you two had in mind?

Luke: I've been trying to figure out how it started.

Scott: And he asked me to have a look and, as usual, we don't get along. So what'd you realize?

Laura: That -- you know, France was the -- was the answer. I'm not having any nightmares anymore and -- I don't know. You know what? It suddenly hit me that we're going to be married again and, you know, to quote my soon-to-be husband -- "I'm cured." So, Scotty, would you give us a minute?

Scott: Oh, yeah. Listen, Bobbie is glad that you're back. She's been looking after Lesley Lu.

Laura: Oh, tell her thanks.

Luke: Sweetheart. Hi.

Laura: Hi.

Luke: Hi. Is that true -- that you're not having the nightmares?

Laura: No, they're not nightmares. They're memories. I think I'm remembering something that really happened.

[Car door closes]

[Car starts]

[Car pulls away]

Jason: Roy isn't out to make money, or he would've accepted the offer and walked away with a million-dollar profit. No, this is about going after Sonny and that's a bad idea. I don't think you want to be a part of it, Felicia.

Roy: You going to put the threat on her now, man? What are you doing?

Jason: No, I'm telling her the truth. That's more than you've done.

Roy: You have no idea what I've done.

Jason: Felicia, your choice is to make a lot of money, quick and clean, or lose your investment, waste your time, and get used by this guy.

Felicia: It all comes down to a matter of trust -- you trust Sonny and I trust Roy. Thank Sonny for his generous offer. Tell him we'll pass. Now, what were our plans for the evening?

Roy: Our plans were developing. You still hungry?

Felicia: I am.

Roy: Let's go someplace else.

Felicia: Okay.

Roy: Yeah, good.

[Phone rings]

[Sonny turns phone off]

Sonny: I saw your face while Ned was talking. You seemed a little shocked, maybe, like you were hearing it for the first time.

Ned: Sonny --

Sonny: Is that --

Ned: Sonny, there was a storm, okay?

Sonny: I know about the storm and the cottage and the whole thing.

Alexis: What Ned said is the truth. It is. And the shock that you saw on my face was embarrassment because I was hearing my private life discussed out loud. Everything he said is true. He's the father of the baby and we want to do what's best for the baby.

Sonny: All right. Well -- sorry for intruding, making assumptions. I wish you the best.

Ned: Well, that's a pretty good save, if I --

Ned: What was that for?

Alexis: For hijacking control of my life.

Ned: Did you have a better plan? I didn't hear you mentioning it!

Alexis: Any plan would've been better than that one!

Ned: I was in the kitchen. I was waiting for you to say something.

Alexis: I wished to God you'd just stayed in there. I mean, why couldn't you stay in there a little longer? Do you have any idea what you did? This isn't a short-term thing! Now we're going to have to keep this going for a lifetime. And what about my sister? What are you going to tell her? You know, you got -- you can't tell her the truth. She's compulsively honest.

Ned: What should I have done? Just let you stand there like a deer in the headlights while Sonny appropriated your child? Okay? Go ahead, call him up, tell him I lost my mind. Tell him that I would say anything to keep him away from your child. Tell him I'm a sadist that wants to trash your sister. Tell him I'm a masochist who wants your sister to trash me. Tell him I'm just a silly dilettante who has nothing better to do than to wreck my life. So you, good luck! Good luck to you and the rest of your family -- you, Sonny, Carly, your child, Michael, Jason. I'm going to go find Kristina, okay, and just tell her I had a temporary bout of insanity.

Alexis: Please, wait, Ned. Please.

Sonny: What's this?

Jason: Roy was trying to dupe Felicia with this nice little candlelight dinner.

Sonny: Did you make the offer?

Jason: Turned it down. Felicia's sticking with it. She put up the original million, inheritance from a rich uncle.

Sonny: Baby's not mine. I asked Alexis straight up.

Jason: What'd she say?

Sonny: Well, I mean, she said it was Nedís. It happened after Carly came back.

Jason: The night her car broke down.

Sonny: Yeah. They wound up at Brendaís old place. I told you I saw them through the window.

Jason: Yeah, yeah.

Sonny: They were definitely together.

Jason: So what now?

Sonny: "What now?" I mean, Alexis and Ned are having a baby. My life will go on.

Laura: But it wasn't a dream because I wasn't asleep. I mean, I was just sitting there relaxing. I could hear the traffic outside. I could feel the bumps on the expressway. I just closed my eyes to relax for a minute and suddenly I was back here in the attic. And I was looking into a mirror and it was my teenage face looking back at me.

Luke: Maybe you fell asleep and that was the nightmare.

Laura: No, no, it's not a nightmare. It's -- it's real. It's something that really happened. And it's something that happened here. Because I can remember the sound of the rain on the roof and the lightning. And I was so scared. It's something that happened here.

Luke: So it was something that you put away?

Laura: Something I suppressed. Which means it's probably something bad.

Luke: Sweetheart, maybe you should just slow down a bit, catch your breath. Plan a wedding. Marry somebody who's crazy about you.

Luke: I know denial gets a really bad rap in the self-help books, but, personally, at times I found it very helpful. And if you went to all that trouble to forget those memories, maybe --

Laura: Then why dredge it up now? I'm not. I'm not. It's just coming out on its own, and I want -- I want to remember it all in one fell swoop instead of being tormented by these fragments. That's why I asked the cab driver to stop here first. I just thought -- I don't know. I thought maybe I could jog my memory a little bit.

Luke: Anything?

Laura: It just -- it just stirs up so many memories.

Luke: Like what?

Laura: Like when I first came to Port Charles. When Lesley found me and she got the court order to take me away from Barbara Vining. I was so angry at both of them. Then how much I missed Amy. I guess I must've put Lesley and Rick through an awful lot.

Luke: Lesley, Rick, Amy. Anybody else play a major role in your high school days?

Laura: Well, Scotty, but I was never afraid of him. He was always wonderful to me.

Luke: I get the strangest feeling that Scott knows more about what happened here than he's letting on.

Laura: Really?

Luke: Yeah.

Laura: Maybe he does. I mean, he knew me better than anyone back then. But I don't think he would've told you.

Luke: No. God, I missed you. Oh, I missed you so.

Laura: I missed you, too.

Rick: I wish you would help Alan warm up to the concept of corporate hospital management.

Edward: Why would I butter Alan up to be devoured by a business consortium?

Rick: No, no. He would continue with his key role at General Hospital.

Edward: I don't care about that. What's in it for me?

Scott: Excuse me, Edward. I need to talk to Rick for a second.

Rick: Sorry, Edward.

Scott: We got a problem.

Jax: So your average cost is 12. 12 from 20, times a million -- that's one hell of a payday for one deal.

Woman: Hmm. It's not the 8 million that I'm interested in. I have a policy that a brilliant deal deserves a brilliant close. There's a bottle of Dom in my hotel suite and a spectacular view of the river. Shall we close this one on the 10th floor?

Waiter: I'm afraid we have a party of five --

Skye: Shh! Quiet!

Waiter: Waiting for this table. I can seat you at the bar.

Skye: Look, I will pay you for a party of five, all right?

Waiter: The other party has been waiting patiently. I'm afraid I can't allow you to stay here. If you don't move, I'll have to summon security, which would undoubtedly cause a scene.

Skye: All right.

Roy: I'd like to propose a toast to our partnership and its infinite possibilities.

Felicia: In a minute because the possibilities look pretty grim. Like blindly trusting your partner, believing to his every word, ignoring the obvious, and allowing yourself to be used.

Roy: That's Jason talking.

Felicia: Well, Jason made some very good points. Did you buy this pier because you want to make money or is there something else you're not telling me about? That $1 million -- and I'm only going to give you one chance and one chance only to tell me the truth. When we found that $1 million, were you genuinely surprised?

Roy: I was -- I was genuinely, absolutely stunned.

Felicia: And you're not setting me up?

Roy: I'd never seen that money before in my life. It's not a setup -- at least not on my part.

Felicia: So when you bought this pier, it's more about your grudge against Sonny, not about making money. Or is it?

Sonny: When you're alone, you got nothing to lose. But with family, you are totally exposed. Carly and Michael -- they are my family. If Alexis' baby had been mine -- there's no way to handle that, right? I could've stayed with the person I cared about and didn't love and left the person I did. If -- I could've stayed with Carly and let my first-born grow up with a part-time father. I looked down both roads and neither of them led any place good. I'm just glad I don't have to choose, but the problem is Carly is angry and hurt, and I got to deal with that. Make it better, if I can.

Alexis: I'm sorry. I'm -- I'm sorry. Please. There's no excuse for me attacking someone who's coming to my rescue. I think I'm so used to fending off Sonny that I just lunged like a raptor once somebody reaches out. Did I mention that I was sorry?

Ned: Yes.

Alexis: And did I mention that you quite possibly saved my baby's life? Thank you. I mean, you know what happened to his first child.

Ned: No need. I hit that point pretty hard myself. Can you do me a favor, though?

Alexis: Anything.

Ned: Can you help me figure out how I'm going to explain this to Kristina?

Jax: Look, Claire, you're -- you're a beautiful woman, but I'm in a committed relationship, so I'm going to have to decline all but the business portion of the evening.

Claire: Lucky woman. Look, I have those specs that you were questioning in my room. So if I promise on my honor to control myself, will you come back and look at them so we can close?

Jax: No champagne.

Claire: Understood.

Jax: Okay. Let's go.

Roy: Yeah, thanks.

Luke: Mr. DiLucca.

Roy: Hey, Mr. Spencer. Welcome back, you guys.

Luke: Look at you. Darling, look at that suit. Doesn't he look fine?

Laura: Nice.

Roy: Thanks.

Luke: Is this the reason my books don't balance?

Roy: No, that would still be because of your math skills.

Luke: Oh.

Maitre d': Mr. And Mrs. Spencer, your table is ready.

Luke: Thank you.

Roy: Listen, I need a word.

Laura: I can wait for you at the table.

Luke: Okay, darling.

Roy: Good to see you, Laura.

Laura: You, too

Roy: So this is not exactly your usual haunt, huh?

Luke: Well, no. It isn't yours, either.

Roy: Yeah. Listen, man, I got to get out of the club. You know, as much as I appreciate the way you cut me in when I first showed up in town when you gave me that piece, I got to officially give it back now with many thanks.

Luke: What's up? You find somewhere that pays better?

Roy: Well, I just ran into this opportunity, you know, to do something and it -- I grabbed it, man. I'm just not going to have time to hold up my end with you, as much as I'd love to.

Luke: Okay. Where you headed?

Roy: Well, I'm sticking around in town. I -- I purchased a half ownership in a waterfront property.

Luke: Do you mind me asking with what?

Roy: I just came into a little bit of good luck.

Luke: I thought you and Corinthos were on the outs.

Roy: We are.

Luke: But you're going to purchase something on the waterfront? That's his territory, man.

Roy: Yeah.

Luke: With Corinthos, you're either with him or against him. You know, you're taking on a whole lot.

Roy: Yeah, that is the prevailing opinion, but Iíve been watching you a long time, man, and it's obvious that going with the flow is overrated, so --

Luke: What can I say, brother?

Roy: Yeah.

Luke: Good luck.

Roy: Keep in touch, okay?

Luke: Yeah.

Laura: Rick. Hi.

Rick: When did you get back?

Laura: Just now. Have you eaten?

Rick: Yes, I have, and I'm running late on a couple of appointments, but we still have to have our father-daughter thing, right?

Laura: Yes.

Rick: Call me.

Laura: I will, absolutely.

Rick: Bye.

Laura: Bye.

Alexis: Okay, here's what I think. I think that we should just tell her the truth. We should just sit her down and tell her everything.

Ned: Everything? Everything involves us keeping a secret for the rest of our lives, and like you said, Kristinaís not very good at secrets.

Alexis: I can see that she might be tempted to mention --

Ned: Not just tempted, she will tell him.

Alexis: Well, not on purpose. She'll just blurt it out accidentally.

Ned: But the damage will be done.

Alexis: So we'll deny it.

Ned: Look, Sonny is smart and he's powerful and he's determined and he has a thing about the family. The people in it are like possessions to him -- they belong to him.

Alexis: He will take control of everything. He will keep going until he can prove he's the father. He'll take control of me and the child.

Ned: If Kristina tells him. Which she won't if she doesn't know. So, I think what we have to do is just sit her down, okay, and we'll just tell her that -- of the night of the rainstorm in the cottage. It was wet, it was cold, and there was brandy --

Alexis: A lot of brandy.

Ned: Potent brandy. And there was a fire --

Alexis: And -- and, you know, we got drunk, you know --

Ned: Right.

Alexis: And it was raining and we were wet and, you know, we had to take our clothes off and --

Ned: We -- um --

Alexis: Talked about old times --

Ned: Right. Right, good.

Alexis: And -- and, you know, we did --

Ned: We -- we --

Alexis: Something that we would never do.

Ned: And we -- I think I can convince her that it was just a one-time mistake and then we just beg her -- we just beg her to forgive us.

Alexis: She'll be heartbroken.

Ned: Yes, she will. She'll end it with me.

Alexis: Do you blame her?

Ned: Okay, look. We're going to just -- we have to stay together for the next couple of months so we give Sonny the right impression so he doesn't suspect anything.

Alexis: And then you can convince Kristina to forgive you, and she will, and you'll distance yourself from me because I'll be perfectly able to take care of the baby by myself without being constantly questioned by Sonny.

Ned: Yeah. And Kristina and I will have a stronger relationship having weathered the storm.

Alexis: Right.

Ned: Or not.

Carly: Hey, Uncle Sonny is always going to love you. And he's probably always going to love me. And we will always love him, right? So we're just going to go on like -- like we have been with Uncle Sonny in the penthouse and you and me and Leticia right here. Okay?

Michael: Why is it making you sad?

Carly: Oh, because Mommy is silly. But you know what? It's not going to make me sad for too much longer. It's going to stop. I promise. You know what? I'm going to stop as soon as you give me a great big hug. Come here. Oh, come here. Oh, come here.

Michael: I love you.

Carly: I love you, too, sweetheart.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Roy: These are the keys to your new car.

Laura: I have been having these weird dreams.

Luke: Why did she spend so much time up in the attic?

Ned: Alexis is pregnant.

Elizabeth: I'll be okay. I know I will.

Zander: Welcome home.
