>> Previously on "General Hospital" --
A.J.: It's impossible to get a job in an afternoon.
Courtney: Then why did you tell me you did?
Woman: Oui, bon jour?
Jax: No one there?
Woman: Wrong number.
Dr. Katz: Your husband doesn't know that you could be infertile?
Carly: He has no idea.
Jason: Stay out of my face, and you do nothing to hurt Elizabeth.
Luke: Honey, it's me. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. It's just me, baby. It's me. Shh. Sorry about that.
Luke: What is it?
Jason: If you want to talk, I'll listen. People say I'm good at it.
Courtney: I just -- I don't understand why A.J. felt like he had to lie to me about getting a job. I mean, doesn't he know that -- that I love him no matter what? I mean, we took vows. You're a Quartermaine. You're A.J.'s brother. Can't you give me any insight?
Jason: You're not going to like what I have to say. And A.J.'s not my brother.
Courtney: Right. For a moment, I almost forgot. You hate A.J., too, because of the accident.
Jason: No, no, no. I hate A.J. because he's hurt the people that I love. The accident doesn't matter to me -- except it made me not a Quartermaine. They like to think I still am, but that's their mistake.
Courtney: You know, A.J.'s made some mistakes, but he's a good person. He -- he's gentle, and he's kind and loving, and I am -- I am really starting to see what he's had to put up with his whole life. He probably lied to me about getting a job because he was afraid that I would put him down and make him feel worse. I'm going to go find him.
A.J.: Well, well. What a surprise.
Skye: What are you doing, A.J? What, are you getting ready to trash your life once again? What, the first 50 times weren't enough for you?
A.J.: Hmm. Interesting. Am I here by myself?
Skye: Well, I was under the impression that you'd fallen in love with your wife -- or so you keep saying -- that you wanted to strike out on your own, start over. And yet there's Courtney, waiting tables at a restaurant, and here you are draped over a bar, ready to get smashed again.
A.J.: I still haven't heard your excuse.
Skye: Clearly you're in worse shape than I am. For God's sake, A.J., I saw you stealing from the family, and do not try to deny it. I saw you with my own two eyes. You are flat-out lying to that young woman who, for some unfathomable reason, has chosen to see the good in you, to believe that you could actually rise above that dysfunctional road show we call a family and start over. But no. No, you will probably get many good reasons from the Quartermaines to justify you sitting there and taking another drink.
A.J.: Amazing. You are amazing. You have this knack for tackling subjects you know nothing about. Yet you have all the answers. Well, you're wrong, Skye. I love Courtney more than I've loved anyone in my entire life.
Ned: Hi. You're back. Something wrong?
Alexis: That twinge?
Alexis: I was neurotic enough to run to the doctor.
Alexis: I went to see Dr. Bonds.
Alexis: Fine. Everything's fine.
Ned: Thank God.
Ned: Well, good. Have a seat. Have a seat. I owe you dinner, anyway, right?
Alexis: I'm not really hungry. Okay, I'm really hungry. You know what? I really am glad that I found Dr. Bonds. I think she's very thorough and she understands discretion.
Sonny: This your file? Hey.
Sonny: Does the doctor know what's causing the headaches? Let me see.
Carly: Sonny -- Sonny, no.
Sonny: What's going on, Carly? Why don't you want me to look in the file?
Carly: Because it's not mine, okay? It's another patient's.
Sonny: Then why are you -- why are you holding it?
Carly: Because I thought it was mine. That's what I get for being impatient. Anyway --
Carly: The doctor said that the test results aren't going to be coming back for a while, and -- you must be starving. I could go for something sweet. Why don't you go get some food or some coffee or something?
Dr. Bonds: Ms. Morgan, your test results are in. I'm ready to discuss them with you.
Sonny: Dr. Bonds, I'm Carly's husband.
Dr. Bonds: Yes, yes --
Dr. Bonds: Mr. Corinthos, isn't it?
Sonny: Yeah. She -- yes, she registered under a different name because -- publicity. You know what I mean? Um -- but, you know, you got to understand, I'm very concerned about her health, you know.
Dr. Bonds: Uh -- let's take this somewhere more private.
Alexis: I can't keep running to Dr. Bonds every time I get a twinge. This pregnancy is turning me into a hypochondriac. And if it continues, I want you to pull my ear until I say ow and make me stop, all right? Talk about much ado about nothing.
Ned: Hey, this is me, Nedley. You don't have to be embarrassed because you're worried about your baby.
Alexis: My baby. I don't know how to have a baby. I know how to produce legal documents. I don't know how to produce children. I accumulate facts. I calculate outcomes. I'm linear. That's the way my mind works. I -- I anticipate. I've already done that. I've already taken the raging hormonal factor into consideration, and I've made adjustments, both practically and spiritually. But I can't wrap my mind around the enormity of what's going on inside my body. There's a baby growing in there. There's a -- a little baby, and it's mine, and it's scaring the hell out of me.
Ned: Hey, hey, hey. You are going to be so okay. You have to trust me on that. Trust me.
Elizabeth: I saw you with Courtney.
Jason: Yeah, I know.
Elizabeth: I wasn't -- I wasn't eavesdropping or anything. I just -- I saw the little moment or conversation or whatever you want to call what you were having with A.J.'s wife, and it looked private, so I -- you know, I'm guessing she's figured out that she's got the bad end of this brother deal.
Jason: Is that a compliment?
Elizabeth: You can figure it out.
Benny: Excuse me for interrupting. Can I talk to you just for a moment? Excuse us?
Jason: What's up?
Benny: Roscoe's gone but his people arenít. They know you did the job, so, I mean, they could be looking to retaliate.
Jason: All right. Thank you.
Jason: All right, let's go.
Jason: Your studio.
Elizabeth: Where are we --
Jason: You need to be off somewhere safe as soon as possible.
Elizabeth: Wait, Jason --
Jason: Let's go. Come on.
Laura: You scared me. Why did you do that?
Luke: I'm sorry, baby. That was really dumb of me. I should have said your name before I touched you. Sorry. I heard you leave the house, and I figured you were coming here. I don't know how I did it, but I beat you here.
Laura: Well, I'm sorry. I guess I -- I should have told you where I was going. But it just seemed kind of silly, I guess.
Luke: No, it isn't silly. Something's bothering you. Does this place seem any more familiar now?
Laura: Um -- yeah, some of the things in it.
Laura: I remember this! This is my mom's record collection.
Luke: Oh, 45ís.
Laura: Yeah. Funny, huh?
Luke: Oh, wow. Hey, there's some good stuff here. Wow. She ought to get a bundle on the internet with this -- I mean, if she sold it, and I wouldn't recommend that she did.
Laura: Oh, my God.
Luke: What's that?
Laura: Oh. It's fashion model Linda.
Laura: My mom and Rick gave her to me one Christmas, and I just loved her. I wouldn't put her down -- even while I tried to make chocolate milk.
Laura: My mother took her away from me. She said I couldn't play with her again until I learned how to take better care of my things.
Luke: She's been up here ever since.
Laura: That's weird. Oh, wow. Look at this.
Luke: What's that?
Laura: Oh, that's from our wedding.
Luke: Oh, sweet.
Laura: Yeah. Isn't that amazing?
Laura: What's that?
Laura: I found it.
Luke: What is it?
Laura: It's my wedding dress. And I think -- I think that's the veil right there.
Luke: I thought you said the dress was missing.
Laura: Well, I thought it was because there was a box just like this over in the attic in the house, and it was empty.
Laura: This is it. This is it. Oh, Luke, I know you don't like to hear this, but this really is a good omen.
Jason: And you can't see me until further notice. That means don't call and do not come looking for me.
Elizabeth: Oh, my -- will you get over yourself? I didn't come looking for you. I don't spend my days thinking of -- of reasons to run into you. So keeping a distance is not going to be a big hardship.
Jason: As long as you do it.
Elizabeth: Okay, look, I know enough not to ask what this is about, but could you at least tell me if Zander's involved? Jason, if his life's in danger, I would at least like to warn him since I'm pretty sure he's not high on -- on your priority list.
Jason: You should steer clear of Zander, too.
Elizabeth: So you're saying he's involved?
Jason: I'm saying the guy's trouble and the smart thing to do is stay away.
Elizabeth: Well, I hate to break it to you, Jason, but you're trouble, too. But thank you. Thank you for the warning. I will give it the consideration it deserves. You can go now. Oh, wait, wait, wait -- first, before you go, let's make a deal. I won't call or come looking for you if you quit bossing me around and trying to dictate who I can and cannot see.
Jason: Now, listen to me. Don't run off trying to prove some point that nobody gets. You'll end up in trouble.
Elizabeth: You don't have to worry about me.
Jason: Yes, I do.
A.J.: You know, I know this is nearly impossible for you or anyone else to fathom, but it's the God's honest truth. I'm madly in love with my wife.
Skye: I can see that -- I think.
A.J.: That's why I told Grandfather to stuff his plan. I suddenly realized what I had in Courtney. And I wasn't going to get her -- I wasn't going to let her get used as leverage to get Michael back for one more minute. I can't tell you how good that felt. Ooh, it felt good. But unfortunately now I'm flat broke. And Grandfather's cut me off of all my own money, and he's made sure I can't get hired.
Skye: That man is such a nasty piece of work.
A.J.: Yeah, you want to know how hard up I am? I even went to Jax.
A.J.: And I asked him for help. He said sure -- as long as I would get out of yours and Courtneyís lives.
Skye: Oh. A.J., I'm sorry. I really am.
A.J.: I'm at the end of my rope, Skye. Watching my wife wait tables, being hit on by losers, being disrespected. That's -- that's why I stole from the family. Okay? That's -- that's why I was about to take a drink. I have nowhere else to turn. I need your help.
Skye: Define "help."
A.J.: A small loan, just until I can get back on my feet. I swear I'll pay you back every cent with interest.
Skye: Absolutely not.
Man: I insist you leave immediately, Mrs. Quartermaine, or I will have to call security.
Courtney: I'm not going anywhere until I see the owner.
Edward: Hey, what's the problem here?
Courtney: I want my stuff.
Edward: Your stuff?
Courtney: Yeah, my things from the penthouse where I used to live with my husband.
Man: I have tried to explain to Mrs. Quartermaine that those items have already been impounded.
Edward: Why don't you run along? Run along. I'll take care of it. Well, this is all rather tawdry, isn't it? Doesn't have to be that way. You and I can both make all these troubles go away. Are you interested in hearing me out?
Kristina: I actually believed you when you said that nothing happened between you and Alexis at the cottage, and now here you are, practically making out in public.
Ned: Kristina, that's not what's happening, okay --
Alexis: Kristina, I was upset. He was making me feel better.
Kristina: Well, then -- then what were you upset about? No. You know what? Forget it. Never mind. Obviously it's a little secret that you two have. I will let you get back to it.
Ned: No --
Alexis: Don't you dare walk out of here on an impulse that you will soon be sorry about. Kristina, there was nothing romantic going on here. The only thing romantic is, I hope, between the two of you. Now, speaking of which, I took the liberty to pick up some tickets that a friend of mine had. The symphony and the concert.
Kristina: Alexis --
Alexis: You two go and have fun, all right?
Kristina: Look, I don't want to seem ungrateful, but symphony tickets, however thoughtful --
Alexis: Oh, damn --
Kristina: Still doesn't explain --
Ned: What's wrong?
Alexis: You know what? I can't find -- my appointment book should be in my purse. It's not, and my whole life is in there. I've got to go.
Kristina: Alexis --
Alexis: I got to go.
Kristina: Well, it looks like you're stuck with the explaining. Why were you holding my sister?
Sonny: So, Dr. Bonds --
Dr. Bonds: Mm-hmm?
Sonny: I'm anxious to hear what's going on with my wife.
Carly: Oh -- ah -- I'm so sorry.
Dr. Bonds: It happens.
Sonny: No, I got it, I got, I got it. I got it.
Carly: Sorry. Did I break anything?
Sonny: No, no harm done.
Sonny: So -- what caused her headaches? Do you know?
Dr. Bonds: Well, there's nothing indicated that would account for headaches. Caroline is in fine physical condition, and the tests run by Dr. Katz show nothing out of the ordinary.
Carly: So, could the headaches -- could they be from -- I don't know -- posttraumatic stress disorder? Something related to the accident?
Dr. Bonds: When it comes to stress, anything is possible.
Sonny: So she's -- she's all right?
Dr. Bonds: I'd like to schedule a follow-up. But just relax. Caroline is fine.
Sonny: All right.
Sonny: Do me a favor.
Sonny: Next time you decide to knock something over, give me a heads up so I can move out of the way. What is really going on here, Carly? And I don't want to hear "nothing."
Sonny: I'm waiting. Why did you deliberately knock over that tray?
Carly: Because I was petrified, okay? I was looking for a stall.
Carly: Because I was afraid of what you might hear. Look, I am happier than I have ever been, Sonny. We are back together, and I am so happy that we're alive, and I am petrified that something is going to take that happiness away. And so -- like, what if -- what if the results of that test showed something was really wrong?
Sonny: I think I know where this is coming from.
Carly: You do?
Sonny: Because of how I treated you in the past -- slammed the door, shut you out of my life. That's not going to happen again. Let fate throw what it wants at us because I'm not walking -- I'm not walking away and I'm not going to let you get that far, either. No matter what those test results would've been, I'm with you, no matter what comes. So I want you to stop worrying because nothing will stop me from loving you.
Man: Well, looky here. If it isn't Jason Morganís little girlfriend.
Elizabeth: Oh, no. No. No, no, no, no. I'm no one's girlfriend.
Man: You better hope Morgan thinks otherwise. In fact, you better hope he's madly in love. Your life depends on it.
Laura: It's completely destroyed. I don't think there's anything I can even salvage.
Luke: Come on, baby, it's just a dress. It's not an omen -- not a good one or a bad one. It has nothing to do with our future or our wedding. And, besides, didn't we say we weren't going to reconstruct the past? We were going to make this wedding about who we are today.
Laura: I know, I know. I just wanted to take a piece of lace, you know, for -- for good luck.
Luke: Why don't you try the veil?
Laura: Okay. That's a good idea. I mean, maybe that'll be -- I hope this is the veil. You know, I'm almost afraid to look. It's probably just as damaged as the dress.
Luke: Could be, but let's have a look. Come on.
Laura: Well, I -- I guess that's the veil. But, where's the headdress? Well, at least I found this.
Luke: Yeah. That's in good shape.
Laura: It is, isn't it? It'll still look nice.
Edward: Does anyone stop to realize what this terrible rift in our family is doing to me personally? Look, lineage is very important to the Quartermaines, and I would like nothing better than to reinstate A.J. to his rightful place as my heir. And I would spare both of you any further humiliation.
Courtney: You know you're lying, and so do I.
Edward: What, no --
Courtney: Do you really think I am so stupid and gullible that -- that I can't see where this is going? You want Michael back, so you're hoping that A.J. and I are beaten up and desperate enough to do what you want to make that happen. Well, think again, you horrible, manipulative old man.
Edward: Oh, bravo, bravo, bravo, young lady. You know, before that little speech, I was going to offer you and A.J. a loan -- at the going rate of interest, of course. But I've given up all hope of regaining custody of little Michael, and I am looking elsewhere for the future of my family.
Courtney: Yeah, well, if that's true, I feel sorry for whoever that turns out to be. And if I have anything to say about it, it won't be A.J. Now I am more convinced than ever that breaking away from you was the best thing that could ever happen to him.
A.J.: You're serious? You won't help me?
Skye: I really won't.
A.J.: I don't believe this. You're turning on me again. Skye, this isn't about me. This is about my wife. Courtney deserves better than slinging hash and eggs to a bunch of creeps who can't keep their eyes off where they don't belong looking. And she deserves to live in a decent place.
Skye: A.J., I just think that it might be really good for you to work for something for a change.
A.J.: Oh, don't give me the "poverty builds character" speech. Not from you, of all people.
Skye: Hey, you got yourself into this hole. It is not my responsibility to make it easy for you to crawl back out.
A.J.: Figures, you know? The story of my life -- finally something good comes along and I find a way to screw it up. Of course, you've probably forgotten what that feels like since everything worked out so peachy for you.
Skye: Yeah, well, I -- I wouldn't be so sure about that.
A.J.: Do I detect a little trouble in paradise?
Skye: Feeling the need to gloat?
A.J.: No. I thought you might need a friend.
Skye: Jax lied to me. He told me he was going to do business in Australia, and I found out that he was really going to Paris. So you know me. I just couldn't resist the urge to check up on him. And so I tracked him down to the hotel Georges Cinq, and when I called there, a woman answered. So I headed for the nearest bar, just like you.
A.J.: You still do understand.
Skye: All too well. Bartender? I'd like to order something.
Ned: Why can't you hear me on this?
Kristina: Because I saw Alexis in your arms and I heard her scrambling to cover for you. You know, for an attorney, Alexis is a really lousy liar.
Ned: Okay. All right. Okay. It's true. There is something that Alexis and I aren't telling you.
Nurse: Ms. Davis -- back so soon?
Alexis: I think I left my appointment book here.
Nurse: Dr. Bonds, right?
Alexis: Yeah. It's a little embarrassing how dependent I've grown on this little book full of squares.
Nurse: I understand. Did you leave it in her office?
Alexis: Or the examination room. I don't remember. I'm pregnant. I think I'm losing brain cells.
Alexis: So, how's Carly? I mean, is she all right?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah, she's fine.
Alexis: Oh, good. I'm glad, then.
Sonny: I doubt you're here for Carly. How you doing? Everything -- everything okay?
Alexis: Yes. Oh, sure, everything's -- everything's good. I was here earlier because I was interviewing an expert eyewitness for a case that I'm working on, and I left my datebook here. I'm glad that Carly's all right. I mean that.
Sonny: I know you do.
Dr. Bonds: Ms. Davis, I have your datebook.
Ned: The reason Alexis was keeping a secret from you was because she hadn't -- well, she hadn't really come to a decision yet, okay, and she didn't want to worry you unnecessarily. But now she has reached a decision, and that is she's going to move out of the penthouse.
Kristina: So that's why she was so upset?
Ned: Yes. This incident with Zander getting beaten up convinced her that Sonny is bad news, and, I mean, you know how long she's been defending him and justifying what he does, and it's been a battle for her to admit that she was wrong.
Kristina: So she decided to avail herself of the opportunity to cry on your shoulder. I get it. I see.
Ned: Well --
Kristina: What kind of a fool do you take me for, Ned?
A.J.: Thank you.
Skye: And keep it coming. We're living dangerously tonight.
A.J.: Oh, is this your version of hell or tough love?
A.J.: Love me less, lend me money.
Skye: A.J., come on. That is the absolute worst thing that I can do for you.
Skye: But, you know, it did make me realize something.
Skye: That you really love Courtney. When did that happen?
A.J.: It wasn't one specific thing that changed my feelings, Skye I wasn't even paying attention. My objective was to get Michael back, and Courtney was a means to that end. It didn't register with me that everyone in her life and mine was telling her I was scum and that she should bail on me. She didn't. Instead, she looked at me with love and respect and belief. And, of course, arrogantly, I assumed was because I was smooth and clever. But then after Grandfather took everything I had, that look didn't change. How could I possibly not love Courtney back?
Skye: You do realize that you'll probably lose her if you start looking for your reflection in the bottom of a martini glass.
A.J.: It kills me that I have nothing to offer her, Skye. I mean, I was once the guy that could lay the world at her feet, and now look at me. It's hard to swallow, believe me.
Skye: A.J., Courtney loves you for who you are inside, not because you're rich or you're poor. That makes you lucky. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't think you've got a chance in hell of keeping Courtney unless you get yourself together and start making some money. But what Courtney really needs from you doesn't cost a thing, and that is your love.
A.J.: You're right. I see that.
A.J.: So I guess baring my soul wasn't enough to get you to change your mind and loan me a few Gís?
A.J.: Ah -- just checking. I'm going home to my wife.
Skye: I think that is an excellent idea.
A.J.: Yes. Hey -- thanks for the coffee.
Edward: Oh, thank God it's just coffee. I thought maybe you'd slipped.
Skye: Oh, and don't pretend you wouldn't be thrilled. Sorry to disappoint you, Grandfather.
Edward: Wait, wait, not so fast. There's something I want to share with you about Jax.
[Knock on door]
Zander: What --
Elizabeth: Let go of me! Somebody help me! Get your hands off of me!
Laura: Well, I'm glad I at least found that.
Luke: Right. So this wasn't a complete waste.
Laura: No, it wasnít.
Luke: What do you say we get out of here?
Laura: Yeah. I'm going to take this with me, actually.
Ned: All right, all right, that's it, that's it. Look -- would you just stop walking away and assuming things? I care about you. Okay? Do you want me to just announce it to everybody in this room? I will do it. Excuse me --
Kristina: No, stop Ned --
Ned: May I have everyone's attention?
Kristina: Stop it. Stop it.
Ned: All right, fine. No words -- if you do one thing. Come here.
Ned: Come here. Dance with me.
Kristina: Oh, Ned.
Kristina: You're insane.
Ned: Mm-hmm. Insane for you.
Skye: If you feel the need to tell me something about Jax, you go right ahead. But know upfront, I'm not interested.
Edward: Thank you for indulging me, Skye. I was going to pay you a visit this evening.
Skye: Ooh -- and why would you do that?
Edward: Well, I've been doing some thinking since -- since last we spoke, and I've been remembering the ups and downs of my long journey with Lila. And I've concluded that it is only right for you to believe in Jax and to stand by him -- as long as you are informed with what you need to make a wise decision.
A.J.: I'm glad you're home.
A.J.: There's so much I want you to know.
Courtney: You look a little flushed. Are you all right?
A.J.: Yes, that's the point. I'm better than all right, and that's because of you. Look, you remember when I told you that I could deal with being broke? Well, the truth is I haven't done so well. And not only did I lie to you about getting a job, but I -- I stole something from my parents' house and pawned it to get some money. I was so caught up in myself and my wounded pride. I was looking at everything except the beautiful woman that's standing in front of me now, who didn't miss a beat when the money went out the window, who stood by me. I don't know what the future will bring, but I promise you I'll do the best I can to be the man you think I am. Just tell me it's not too late.
Courtney: There's no such thing. Don't you know it yet? I love you. You've got me for life.
A.J.: Thank God.
Zander: They took Elizabeth. I saw it out the window. I couldn't do anything.
Jason: Wait, wait -- slow down. Who took her?
Zander: I don't know. It was two guys. They shoved her into a car, and one of them used to work for Roscoe.
Jason: Let's go.
Sonny: Well, I'll leave you two to do whatever you got to do. Dr. Bonds?
Dr. Bonds: Mm-hmm.
Sonny: I'll see you later.
Dr. Bonds: Mr. Corinthos.
Alexis: Thank you. Thank you for being so patient with me. I know I'm acting a bit neurotic, but this is my first pregnancy and I -- I just want to make sure that the baby is okay.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Laura: What happened to Gia?
Lucky: Nikolas happened to Gia. The prince wants to make her a star.
Felicia: Roy is complicated, and I am concerned about you.
Jason: She's leverage. They need to keep her alive until they get what they want.
Zander: What if they kill you as a message to Sonny? What happens to Elizabeth then?
