>> Previously on "General Hospital" --
Courtney: It's actually starting to feel pretty good to have a brother.
Skye: That is booze on your breath. What are you doing?
A.J.: I am celebrating. Let's resolve our differences once and for all.
Sonny: It's over between us, brother-in-law.
A.J.: Champagne. I'm cool. It's tradition to have a little champagne.
Skye: Ooh. Somebody's been busy.
Skye: What is all this?
Jax: You'll find out soon enough.
Courtney: A.J., Wake up.
Courtney: How do you feel?
A.J.: Oh -- a little tired.
Courtney: Just a little? Better get you something for your hangover. You're going to need it. Must've drank a bottle of champagne last night, maybe more.
A.J.: What, you think that I -- I drank until I passed out?
Courtney: I do, and you did.
A.J.: Courtney, Courtney, come on. Hey -- you're exaggerating.
Courtney: You stayed up to drink, A.J. That's what alcoholics do. And you're an alcoholic. You told me that from the start.
A.J.: I wanted you to know the truth.
Courtney: Well, there's something that you need to know about me. I won't be married to a drunk. I want to be married to you. But you can't drink anything alcoholic ever again -- not to celebrate, not for tradition, not for any reason. Promise me.
A.J.: Okay. I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry. I apologize. The last thing I wanted to do was spend our wedding night apart. It's just this Sonny thing -- it just -- you know, he --
Courtney: You know what? Stop putting this on my brother. Sonny's really been trying. I mean, you saw all --
A.J.: Courtney, stop it! Stop it right now, all right? I never want to hear you defend him again ever.
Alexis: Are you going to be okay with your foot? You want me to get you some aspirin or something?
Sonny: No, I'm fine.
Alexis: You know, those stairs coming down your plane are a real hazard. You should sue yourself.
Sonny: You look tired.
Alexis: I am. Aren't you?
Sonny: I slept on the way back.
Sonny: How does anybody sleep? You just close your eyes. You saw me.
Alexis: Yes, I did see you, and it was a little disconcerting, knowing how upset you were about A.J. and Courtney.
Sonny: Courtney made her choice. Yeah, it's a pack of lies, but she was warned. She didn't listen. So now she's going to have to live through the fallout.
Alexis: I didn't think that you would be able to do this.
Sonny: Deal with reality?
Alexis: Detach yourself.
Sonny: I didn't want her to get hurt. There's nothing I can do now. Thank you for helping her -- especially helping me when I lost it with A.J. You were great.
Alexis: So were you. With the exception of you nearly pitching A.J. off the balcony, you were a model of self-restraint. Courtney was very happy for your support. She was very happy that you danced with her.
Sonny: It's easy to lie to someone when they want you to.
Alexis: So, what are you going to do now?
Sonny: You look tired. You should get some sleep.
Alexis: I will. You know, Courtney is going to come to her senses at some point. You do know that, don't you? You know, we'll get an annulment. Figure out the statutes for that. And A.J.'s, of course, not going to have any objection now that you're not trading Michael for Courtney, so I don't think --
Sonny: Um -- do you need some help with that?
Alexis: I think you need to call a locksmith.
Sonny: First thing tomorrow.
Alexis: I'm kind of in the mood for a cappuccino.
Sonny: You're already wound up as it is.
Alexis: Feel better.
Kristina: Oh, I thought I heard voices. Welcome home.
Alexis: Thank you.
Kristina: Don't take this the wrong way, but, Alexis, you look awful.
Alexis: I'm tired.
Kristina: Well, anyways, I got your message. So everything worked out okay with Courtney?
Alexis: Oh, it was peachy. A.J. and Courtney are now married. She's blissfully happy and Sonny paid for the reception.
Kristina: And Sonny is handling this okay?
Alexis: Evidently. Danced at the wedding, beat me at cards, slept all the way home.
Kristina: Wow. So that's good, I take it.
Alexis: I seriously doubt it.
Kristina: Well, A.J. and Courtney are married. I mean, the whole thing should be over now, right? Or is something else about to happen?
Kristina: Oh! Perfect timing.
Alexis: Oh, good. I hope there's caffeine in that.
Kristina: There is plenty of caffeine, keep you up for a week -- not that you need it.
Alexis: Thank you. I have a busy day ahead of me. I know that I want to spend some time looking -- getting a copy of A.J. and Courtney's marriage certificate because I want to see what kind of laws apply if it's in New York --
[Knock on door]
Alexis: Thought you'd be over at your family's, giving them the good news. Sonny's little sister is now A.J.'s permanent hostage. Congratulations. Well done.
Ned: I had no idea they would get married.
Alexis: You know, of course, that A.J.'s lying to her.
Ned: And she'll probably get her heart broken. Happens to the best of us when you put your faith in the wrong person. I trusted you, Alexis. I trusted you.
Alexis: You know that A.J. doesnít love Courtney. You know that he doesn't respect her, that he's going to do nothing to honor their marriage vows. In fact, what he most likely will do is sleep with her till he gets bored and then torture her as a way of getting back at her brother. Is that okay with you?
Ned: I have no idea what my cousin will do. But if you don't like the way he behaves, why don't you take a good, long look at what Sonny did to provoke him.
Alexis: I would be more interested in focusing on a solution. Are you going to do anything about this?
Ned: I don't see there's anything to do.
Alexis: Fine. I'll do it.
Ned: Your sister was the most intelligent woman I've ever met, and now she is -- she's losing it. Her career is shot. She's throwing away her life.
Kristina: And she's breaking your heart -- again.
[Knock on door]
Mike: Thanks for calling. What -- what happened to your foot?
Sonny: Ah -- trying to get on the plane.
Mike: All right. You left me the message that Courtney had married A.J. Now, there has to be more to it than that.
Sonny: I found them in bed together. I tried to throw A.J. off the balcony, and I stopped when Courtney told me that he was her husband. Alexis was there. Skye, Ned, and Jax showed up. I threw her a wedding reception and -- ahem -- told her how happy I was, and then I left.
Mike: Is she happy?
Sonny: Sure, Mike. She got everything she wanted.
Mike: And A.J.?
Sonny: Well, he -- he wanted Michael. He offered a trade. He would break Courtney's heart, show her what a pig he is, and let her go if I gave him back Michael.
Mike: Damn him.
Sonny: You know how you think when you're gambling? How you're sure you're not going to lose anything and basically you're losing all the time? You don't really see the bottom until some loan shark is ready to work you over? That's how A.J. lives his life. He's not just drunk when he's drinking. He lies to himself and everybody else. He killed my son and he thinks I'm going to let him anywhere near Michael? I'm not giving A.J. a chance to hurt my child or, worse, teach him how to hate himself. You learn who you are by watching your father or you learn who you never want to be.
Mike: Look, I -- I'm not saying that you should have traded little Michael, but what's going to happen to Courtney?
Sonny: She's on her honeymoon.
Sonny: In the Caribbean. Some place called St. Sophia. No, no, no. Donít. That is not the way this is going to be handled.
Courtney: I'm going to pretend like you're hung over, your head is pounding, it's making you grouchy, and that's why you're trying to tell me what I can say.
A.J.: I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way.
Courtney: Good. Because Sonny's my brother, and it means everything to me that he got past his anger and wished us happiness. Someday I'm hoping that he will accept that we love each other and be part of our family. We'll be part of his, too.
A.J.: I'd do anything for you, but that's expecting an awful lot from your brother, Courtney.
Courtney: Sonny already made the first move, and I'm grateful to him for that, and I will defend him anytime I want -- just like I defend you to him.
A.J.: Okay, okay. Hey, hey, hey. You're right, okay? Can we just -- can we just start this day over?
Courtney: We just had our first fight. We can't pretend like it didn't happen. But we can let it be finished.
A.J.: Good. I was never angry with you. Just disappointed in the way everything turned out, you know? You're the best thing that's come into my life. The last person I want to take my bad mood out on.
Courtney: Then don't. Take me to the beach instead.
A.J.: Yeah. You know what? I'm sorry, but Sonny's ruined this place for me. I -- I want to leave.
Courtney: And go where?
A.J.: Port Charles.
Courtney: Home? We're on our honeymoon.
A.J.: I know, I know, I know, but I don't want to spend the next three weeks pretending that Sonny and his entourage didn't barge in here. I want us to get on with our lives. That's what I want us to do.
Courtney: Okay. Sure. If that's what you want. I am looking forward to meeting your family. They are going to be my family, too, now.
Jax: Anyone ever told you that sometimes you're a little conservative?
Skye: Oh, no one's ever accused me of that before.
Jax: Well, it's true all the same because we could've woken up in Provence this morning.
Skye: Well, to all appearances, we have.
Jax: Since you wouldn't let me fly you there, I had to, you know, think of the next best thing.
Skye: You must know the name of an awfully good French caterer. You'll have to give me his name.
Jax: Actually, they're a husband and wife team. They have a shop in this 200-year-old converted barn.
Skye: In Port Charles?
Jax: No, in Vitrolles.
Skye: Provence? You had this flown in from France?
Jax: No, I didn't. One of my pilots did. Here. Have a croissant.
Skye: Mmm. Oh. This is -- this is real. This -- this was baked in France.
Jax: You sound surprised.
Skye: Uh-uh. Not anymore. Not by you. You really are this good, aren't you?
Jax: I'm just getting started. I got something for you.
Jax: Here. Go ahead, open it.
Skye: Jax, you didn't have to do this --
Jax: Quit stalling, Skye. Just go ahead. Open it up.
Skye: Okay. Moonstones.
Jax: You know what they are. I'm impressed.
Skye: They're beautiful.
Jax: Do you know what they mean?
Skye: That you were thinking of me?
Jax: I was. They represent new beginnings, and they make wishes come true. And that's why I -- I thought you should have a whole necklace of them.
Skye: You're making that up.
Jax: No, it's -- it's in the, you know, gemstone encyclopedia. If you look it up, says right there -- "Wishes come true."
Skye: How do you know that? Please don't tell me you read gemstone encyclopedias in your -- for your enjoyment.
Jax: I donít. I -- I learned from my dad. He -- he once prospected for opals.
Skye: I guess he just happened to tell you all these fabulous things about moonstones.
Jax: That's right. When I saw that necklace, I remembered some of the things, like new beginnings and making wishes come true. So I thought it was only appropriate to give you something that represents both of those things.
Skye: Wow, this is all so incredibly overwhelming. I --
Jax: Let me put it on you. Turn around.
Jax: There we go. You know the best thing about being here? Is that no one knows where we are and we can do whatever we want.
Skye: No. No, Jax, you have to stop this right now.
Skye: Do you even know who I am? You saw what A.J. did to Courtney, how he used her. Well, I'm just like him. I am. I can do anything to anybody and justify it. You don't know. You don't know what's inside me, what I'm capable of.
Jax: You know, I'm not as naive as you think. And even if you are as despicable as you say, why are you telling me this now?
Skye: Because you need to know who you're sleeping with, okay? Who you're giving breakfasts and jewelry, who you seem to think that you want to make happy.
Skye: I -- I was once well-paid to wreck a marriage, and I took the money gladly. I once changed the results of a man's paternity test just to hang on to him. I didn't tell him the baby was his. The same crime that I accuse my grandfather of -- you know, that injustice I seem to pull out whenever it suits me -- I did the same thing to someone else. I could do to you what A.J. did to Courtney. I could turn on you any moment, Jax.
Jax: So, what are you saying? I should just walk out of here and not look back?
Edward: Reginald, what was that ridiculous excuse for a meal that you and Cook tried to pass off as lunch?
Reginald: It's called low-cholesterol cuisine. It's recommended for heart patients. Mrs. Quartermaine requested it for you specifically.
Edward: Well, you may tell my wife that no one ever died of a lamb chop. Certainly not me today. I have too much to live for because A.J. is bringing Michael back to us. Huh?
Reginald: Yeah. Well, if you're banking on A.J. getting anything done, you may want to check on that medication, okay?
Edward: Oh, come on.
Alan: Hey, Reginald, will you see if you can get Cook to make me a sandwich? I know she doesn't like to do that, but lunch was kind of sparse.
Reginald: Sure. See what I can do.
Edward: Hey, while you're at it, tell her that I want an egg salad sandwich on toast and some French fries.
Alan: Father, what are you talking about? You have a chronic heart condition.
Edward: Well, Alan, you have a chronic marital condition. I see that Monica has booted you off to the east wing again.
Alan: And how many times has mother locked the door on you?
Edward: Well, Lila is forgiving soul. I can't say the same for Monica. But this time I do not blame Monica because it's shameful of you, the way that you've turned your back on your own child.
Alan: A.J. is not a child. And why is it you never have anything good to say about him unless he's done something despicable?
Edward: Because he is showing some backbone for the first time in his life.
Alan: By antagonizing Sonny Corinthos?
Edward: Why the hell not? Alan, that man stole your grandson. I should think you'd want to retaliate.
Alan: Yes, I would love to take revenge on him, but not at the expense of A.J.'s life.
Edward: You're exaggerating again. Sonny has not seen fit to kill A.J. so far. What makes you think he'd do it now? And A.J. is taking a very calculated risk trying to get little Michael back, and I, for one, admire him for it.
Alan: Yeah, well, you didn't have any trouble trying to make a deal with him so you could hold on to E.L.Q. Where was your great love for Michael then? By comparison, I got to tell you, Sonny's a better choice than you are.
Monica: So you are choosing a career criminal over your son?
Alan: No, what I'm saying is there's no point in A.J. provoking him because no good's going to come from it anyway.
Edward: Alan, he is acting like a father should. He loves his little boy, and he wants him back.
Alexis: Wanting a child is one thing. Preying on someone else's child to get him is quite another.
Sonny: Why are you going after Courtney?
Mike: You know why. I'm her father.
Sonny: You mean that?
Mike: Damn you, Michael, I don't have time for this. Yes, I was a bad father. Yes, I walked away from you and I turned around and I did the same thing to your sister. But the difference is I still have a chance to help Courtney.
Sonny: You're going to help Courtney the way she needs, not the way you want. You don't get to play hero, go and grab her away from A.J. and make her understand that A.J.'s garbage.
Mike: I'm not going to stand by and do nothing.
Sonny: That's exactly what you're going to do, Mike. You're going to wait, and when she comes home you're going to bring her flowers in a big, silver bowl like the one you brought Carly and me. You're going to tell her how proud you are of her, you're going to give her a kiss on the cheek, and you're going to be the supportive, loving father she always dreamed of having.
Mike: You want me to lie to her?
Sonny: You don't have to lie. You don't have to lie, Mike. Just make it real. She's always needed you. This is your chance to come through. If she slams the door in your face, try again. If she asks you if I sent you, then you tell her what you told me, you know? It's too late to be my father. Make her trust you. And when she does, don't fail her.
Mike: You don't get to order me to love my daughter. And no matter what you might think, I have loved you both all your lives.
Sonny: Then don't let anything come between you and Courtney. Not even me.
Mike: What do you mean, not even you? What are you going to do? What are you going to do?
Mike: Answer me. What are you planning on doing?
Sonny: This is for Courtney. Benny will get you more if you need it. If I find out that you gambled any of it, then there's no going back, no more chances, we're done.
Mike: This is a fortune.
Sonny: I have cashed out some of my legitimate holdings. The Feds can audit every dime if they want. It's all clean.
Mike: Why are you doing this?
Sonny: I already told -- I told you, it's for Courtney so she can go to college, Europe, whatever she wants. If she needs anything, you can give it to her without having to steal or make a bad bet.
Mike: I'm not going to front for you.
Sonny: I'm rich, Mike. You're not and you never will be. That's nothing to be ashamed of. I've never looked down on you for that.
Mike: The hell you didnít.
Sonny: You walked out. You failed my mother. If you were rich as God, I'd still despise you for that. I've never cared that you were broke. That's another thing you don't understand.
Mike: You're the one who can't understand. The things you value -- your strength, your pride -- they crush everyone around you, Michael.
Sonny: You always call me "Michael."
Mike: It's your name! "Sonny" is someone you made yourself into -- an ice-cold, unreachable, absolute bastard. Do you know how much I hate Sonny Corinthos? Do you know what I would give to have one day with my son, with my child? Why the hell do you think I've stayed around all this time, knocking on your door, swallowing my pride, begging to get in?
Sonny: I don't know who you dreamed your son would be, but this is what you got. Part of it's your fault. Most of it's mine. But I am whatever I wanted to be. Now, I never -- I've never -- I've been very careful not to ask you for anything. Now I'm asking you for my sister. Take care of Courtney.
Mike: With your money?
Sonny: Well, you said my pride wrecks people. Prove you're better than me. Take the money.
Mike: Okay. I will take your money and I will spend it on your sister, but I'm telling her where it came from.
Sonny: Fine, but that's all you get to tell her. If she decides she wants to hate me, write me off, spit in my face, do whatever it takes, just stay close to Courtney. That's your job. You got that?
Mike: You know, Courtney doesn't hate you. She's trying her best --
Sonny: Do you -- do you understand?
Mike: I think so.
Mike: I love you, too, Michael.
Alexis: Is anyone here aware that Courtney is married to A.J.?
Edward: You don't -- you don't say?
Monica: He married her?
Alexis: In a private ceremony. Sonny and I showed up sometime later, then Ned and Jax and Skye showed up, and Sonny offered to throw Courtney a wedding reception. And while Courtney chatted it up with the guests, A.J. took Sonny out on the terrace and offered to trade her for his son.
Edward: Well, if Sonny chose to see it that way, it's certainly not A.J.'s fault.
Alexis: Edward, let me clarify the language for you. Your grandson tried to coerce my client into revoking Michaelís adoption in exchange for the return of his sister. That's extortion. It's illegal. So is fraud, which A.J. perpetrated against Courtney by marrying her under false pretenses. Not only is he despicable, he's a criminal, and I will take great pleasure in proving that.
Edward: If that's why Sonny sent you here -- to threaten us -- you may tell him that the Quartermaines are not to be intimidated.
Lila: Alexis is right, Edward.
Kristina: I saw what went on between you and Alexis just now. Ned, I heard it in your voice. It wasn't the words that you were saying, but it was what was underneath the words. It was passion.
Ned: No. That's what anger sounds like --
Ned: And frustration and wishing you could reach out and shake this person to see what kind of mess they're making of their life.
Kristina: I can't believe --
Ned: But they're so consumed by their own --
Kristina: I can't believe that you would be so blind! Or maybe I can believe it. You know, I have been walking on eggshells around Alexis, trying not to hurt her just in case she still had feelings for you. And in all of my new-age awareness, you know what? I think that I was wrong. You're the one who is still tied to Alexis.
Ned: If you don't want to believe that I am over Alexis, I really don't know what I can possibly do --
Kristina: I do, I do --
Ned: To convince you.
Kristina: I do want to believe it. I care about you so much. If I didn't -- if I didn't want this, you know what? I would've walked out on you a long time ago. But what is this? I mean, who are we? We have fun together, we laugh, we have a good time, but what is it that we want? It's like -- it's like Zander said. You know, if two people really love each other --
Ned: Wait -- hold on. Wait a minute. Hold -- you're discussing our relationship with Zander? And you're taking his word over mine?
Kristina: No, Zander is just a friend of mine. But you know what? In this case, I think he sees things a hell of a lot more clearly than I do or you do.
Ned: You know, I have been -- I have been dealing with my -- my crazy family this last 24 hours, and I'm really tired. And I'm also really tired of trying to convince you that what you think you see between me and Alexis isn't there. And I just -- I just want to drop it, okay? I just really don't need this right now.
Kristina: Yeah, you know what? Neither do I. Because the more I see what's going on, the more I see that you just see me as Alexis without the baggage.
Alexis: A.J. made it clear that his sole purpose for marrying Courtney was to trade her for his son.
Edward: He was only trying to get his child back.
Lila: That will be enough, Edward. What A.J. is doing is wrong. This family must put a stop to it.
Alexis: Thank you, Lila. I can always count on you to be a voice of reason.
Lila: Thank you, Alexis, for coming. And, please, give Mr. Corinthos my very warmest regards.
Alexis: I will.
Edward: Lila, why you continue to flirt with that man -- through his lawyer, no less -- when he has brought nothing but misery and discord to this family is beyond me.
Reginald: Misery and discord are your best events.
Edward: No, no. My sole concern is the welfare of this --
Alan: Oh, put a sock in it! Because of your incessant badgering, A.J. has taken this business just so far, I don't even think Mother can stop him. I don't think anybody can.
Jax: You don't think I know you?
Skye: I hurt people. Okay, that's what I do. And I'll hurt you, too. So if you have any brains, you'll just -- you'll just get out.
Jax: Is that what you want?
Skye: Just get out.
Jax: You know, that doesn't really answer my question.
Skye: Look, Jax, you don't know what's going to happen. You're going to end up hating me. I just know you are.
Jax: No, Skye, I donít. I don't know what's going to happen. Neither do you. Whatever it is, we'll figure it out, okay? But I'm not going to worry about what's going to happen down the line. That's not how I live my life. Look at what we have right now, okay? It's just the two of us. We're at this beautiful place together, alone, and we've got nothing to think about but each other. So, please, don't run.
Skye: Ah. Well, you make a very compelling case for not walking out the door.
Jax: Well, I don't know. There's the added consideration that this is my lake house and not yours.
Skye: Oh. So I guess this is all about property rights, is that it?
Jax: It can be about anything you want it to be. I mean, I have very persuasive arguments on every subject.
Edward: Monica, A.J. needs your support. This -- this marriage is the smartest move he's ever made.
Monica: This marriage is a disaster, Edward.
Edward: Come on.
Monica: And Lila is right. A.J.'s got to get an annulment. And when he gets here, I will talk to him. You will not interfere because for once in your life you're going to do what's best for A.J.
Edward: You're damn right I will.
Monica: I hope you're going to call your lawyer so he can draw up annulment plans. I mean this, Edward!
Edward: No. We're going to plan a wedding reception, something tasteful and elegant to celebrate A.J.'s nuptials.
Alan: No, you're not!
Alan: Isn't it bad enough that you goaded A.J. into risking his life?
Alan: You are not going to add insult to injury by provoking Sonny with a big, splashy party.
Edward: Reginald, get that door or you're fired!
Monica: Okay, first of all, this is my house. Second of all, Reginald is Lilaís butler and you have no right threatening him. In fact, you don't have any rights around here at all, Edward. So if you don't stop your obnoxious, overbearing ways, you can just call your hotel, book yourself a room, and go and sit in it. And, believe me, no one around here's going to miss you.
Reginald: I second that. Here's your sandwich.
Alan: Thank you.
Reginald: And A.J.'s here. He brought a guest.
A.J.: Hello, everyone. I'd like to introduce my new wife.
Sonny: You sure about these people?
Benny: Yeah, listen, they come highly recommended.
Sonny: They should be. They charge enough. All right. Small bills, nonsequential, as agreed.
Benny: With all due respect, maybe -- maybe we should wait?
Sonny: Time will only hurt people involved, okay? I want this clean, quick, and over.
Benny: Could -- could we have a word alone?
Sonny: Max, can you wait outside?
Benny: These guys are good and there won't be any evidence, but there also won't be any question that you had a hand in this. And so you're looking at -- well, you're looking at fallout with everybody from your lawyer to your family. Okay, now, if you wait six months, if you can wait a year, right, accidents happen. Now, also, I've been trying to locate Jason, and I -- you know, I -- he's going to check in sooner or later.
Sonny: I waited too long for this. It should've happened years ago. I just want to know that these people can do the work.
Benny: Yeah, absolutely.
Sonny: Okay, I don't want to hear about this again.
Sonny: I don't want to talk about it.
Sonny: Without a trace, Benny.
Alexis: Hello, Max. Benny.
Max: Ms. Davis.
Alexis: If you'll excuse me, I have something I need to go over with Sonny.
Benny: He's very busy right now. There's some -- something involving the casinos. Nothing that need concern you.
Alexis: I'm aware that you and I handle vastly different aspects of Sonny's business, but today mine takes precedence.
Sonny: Did you get any sleep?
Alexis: I get it -- why you're so calm, what you meant when you said you were okay about the way things worked out. You gave the order, didn't you? You're going to have A.J. killed.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Elizabeth: You didn't happen to run into Sarah last night, did you?
Alan: I never imagined --
A.J.: That I'd have the guts to go through with it?
Alan: That you would be foolish enough to provoke Sonny again.
Alexis: Believe me, Sonny, I'll be gone if I don't get some answers. What was in the briefcase that you handed to Benny?
