General Hospital Transcript Thursday 3/28/02
>> Previously on "General Hospital" --
Carly: What makes you think I did something to Skye?
Jax: I just heard you admit it to Bobbie.
Carly: You can relax. I did not hurt the tramp.
Luke: You're stalling for time. You're trying to let them get away. Don't do that, Gia!
Gia: No, I wouldn't. Luke --
Nikolas: Not yet. You come anywhere near anyone I care about, and I will kill you.
Laura: Who's out there?
[Knock on door]
Luke: It's me. Laura, it's me.
Laura: Luke? What's the matter?
Luke: You're not going to like this.
Laura: Did something happen at Wyndemere?
Luke: It's what I was afraid of -- Helena put the screws to Nikolas, and he helped her get away.
Gia: That was way too close a call with Helena, huh?
Gia: You know, Luke almost found her. I mean, he caught up with you about 10 seconds after she had left. Do you think this will come back to haunt us?
Nikolas: Don't know.
Gia: She said all she wanted was to get away and that she wouldn't hurt anyone, and, you know, I guess I believed her. I mean, I know the woman is seriously ill, but the fact is she'll be arrested the minute she steps out into public. Nikolas, I never wanted to help Helena. I hate her as much as you do. You know that. I just -- I didn't see another way out. And Luke scared me to death when he showed up like that, but you handled it perfectly, like you always do.
Nikolas: Gia, stop it, please.
Gia: Stop what?
Nikolas: Why did you not tell me when you saw Helena was hiding in the stables? Why could you not trust me?
Skye: Jax -- Jax --
Jax: I'm going to get you to the hospital.
Skye: No -- no --
Jax: You'll be safe there.
Skye: He'll get me. His men are looking for me.
Jax: Who will get you?
Jax: Corinthos? He did this to you?
Sonny: Hey. Shh.
Carly: Is Michael okay? Are you okay?
Gia: I trust you completely, Nikolas.
Nikolas: She was there the first time I came looking for you at the stables. Why didn't you tell me?
Gia: Because I love you and I didn't want Helena getting her claws into you again.
Nikolas: Forget about me, please, okay? She's hurt a lot of other people, Gia, and she can do it again.
Gia: Don't you think I know that?
Nikolas: Look, I'm just -- I'm trying to figure out how this all happened, you know? Helena is out there free to do whatever she wants, and it's our fault. We let her go.
Gia: Nikolas, I made a judgment call, all right? And maybe it was a bad one, but --
Nikolas: She is my grandmother. It was not your decision to make. You know? At least not on your own. If we would have discussed this, we could have come up with a better solution.
Gia: Or not.
Nikolas: I don't know what the answer is, okay? I just know that somehow along the way, I ended up doing the opposite of what I know is right.
Gia: And it could still work out.
Nikolas: Just listen to me. Please, listen to me. I looked in Luke’s eyes, and I made him a promise that I would do whatever I could possibly do to bring Helena back into custody. Do you get that?
Gia: Nikolas, I was wrong, okay? I messed up, but I did it for you. Look, when I first saw Helena in the stables, my first reaction was to call Marcus. But then she started to threaten you, and I just panicked. She said that she would tell the police that you helped her escape and that you would go to prison. I just -- I was scared that the truth about the car crash would come out if the police started investigating you, okay? Look, you're in trouble because of me. I mean, if I would have never run that red light, this wouldn't happen, you know? I just felt like it was my mess to clean up. I mean, you've already done so much for me.
Nikolas: And I would always protect you. We're in this together, Gia.
Gia: Well, we couldn't have stopped her together.
Nikolas: Maybe we could have, you know?
Gia: She said that she could prove that you helped her escape from jail.
Nikolas: You didn't actually suspect I might have helped her, did you?
Luke: I gave Nikolas every opportunity to come clean, but he just kept dancing around, lying, not very convincingly, I'm afraid.
Laura: But he would never help Helena unless he was forced to, Luke. You know that.
Luke: Look, I'm not saying he wants to. I'm saying he's stuck. She's got him -- she's got him in her strongbox, only she's got the key. And by now, God knows where she is or what she has planned.
Laura: I can't believe that this is happening again. I -- the lies and the blackmail -- this is exactly how she got me to lie all those years ago. She puts you in an impossible situation. She forces you to make a choice that you hate. And then once you've told the first lie, you don't really have a choice but to continue to lie.
Luke: I know. The only way out of that is to call her bluff, ignore her threats, and tell the truth. Now, we know that, but Nikolas doesn’t.
Laura: She's never going to let go of Nikolas, though. That's probably why she has escaped from prison. You know, that's what this is really all about. This sick cat and mouse game is about one thing. It's about getting control of my son.
Jax: Okay, now, let me take you up to the Quartermaine house, okay?
Skye: No. Sonny's men are looking for me.
Jax: Skye, you obviously have hypothermia. Alan and Monica are doctors. They'll know what to do.
Skye: No, Sonny's men will find me -- find me there.
Jax: Who will? Sonny will?
Skye: His men -- they locked me up, put me in a boat shed, and I can't get out, and I had to go in the water, and I --
Jax: Okay, okay, okay, okay. I promise you, Sonny will not lay a hand on you, okay? I will take you to a place where you will be safe, all right?
Carly: Hey. I can take Michael.
Sonny: I know. Okay.
Carly: Did Leticia call you?
Sonny: No, I just came by.
Carly: To see Michael?
Sonny: Yeah, he was crying, and I guess he had a nightmare, and she tried to put him back to sleep.
Carly: Well, I'm glad you were here.
Sonny: Yeah, me, too.
Carly: So, what was the nightmare about?
Sonny: You know kids. They get them all the time. We talked it through. He's okay.
Carly: Well, I'd just like to know in case he gets it again.
Sonny: He was being chased again.
Carly: By who?
Sonny: He didn't remember a face, just a dark shape coming after him, and it'd hurt him if he got caught, you know. He tried to find me. I wasn't there, and then he tried to call out my name, and I didn't answer. Then he woke up. I'll go ahead and I'm going to put him up. I'm going to put him up. I got him. All right, come on. Yeah, yeah.
Nikolas: You didn't actually think I would help Helena do anything ever, did you?
Gia: Of course not. I knew she was lying.
Nikolas: Then why didn't you tell me? Gia, why didn't you have enough faith in me, let alone steal from me? Why?
Gia: Because I've seen you. I've seen your face when you're with her. You know, the pain in realizing that the woman is your flesh and blood, the suffering when you realize how she has hurt all the people that you care about. Look, we fell in love with the shadow of Helena hanging over us, and we're finally free. I just want it to stay that way.
Nikolas: I do, too. I do, which is why I --
Gia: I know. I should have told you. I should have thought in a straight line, but I didn't. Look, my mind was just spinning when I was thinking about all the possibilities. What if she tried to hurt you? What if you sacrificed yourself by confessing to the police about lying about the red light? Nikolas, please tell me you understand. I never meant to hurt you.
Nikolas: So you were trying to protect me?
Gia: Yes. And it would have worked, but you're too smart and you caught on. And so did Luke. And it all fell apart before I could stop it.
Nikolas: I'm sinking, Gia. I am sinking. I am doing things that -- that I never could imagine doing, you know? I'm buying the silence of witnesses, using money to manipulate people. After everything I've been through with Luke, I look at him in the face and I lie to him to protect a woman that I despise. Tell me -- am I turning into my father? Please tell me that honestly.
Laura: I wish I had convinced Nikolas to give that whole damn inheritance to charity.
Luke: It wouldn't matter, darling. This isn't about money. It's about blood. Helena would be after him if he only had two cents in his pocket.
Laura: Well, she's not going to get him. She's not because I can track her. I can track her all the way around the world if I have to.
Luke: We can track her. Us. Together.
Laura: Thank you. Oh, Luke, I love you.
Luke: Oh, so sweet to hear you say that. So we may have to make a world tour here. You think you're up for that?
Laura: Nobody does foreign travel better than us.
Luke: And I'm itching to be on the road again.
Laura: And I am itching to catch that homicidal maniac.
Luke: Well, there you have the cornerstone of a great relationship.
Laura: You know, I'm really only telling a partial truth. I want to catch Helena, but I -- I'm also itching to be back on the road again.
Luke: Really? Packing and unpacking? Living under assumed names? All that?
Luke: Don't you think you'll miss your hearth and your throw pillows?
Laura: Throw pillows would fit in the bag. And, you know, life is about balance, right, and everything in moderation. I'm actually thinking that that really is the key. It is the key to everything I want -- the throw pillows, the road, and -- and you.
Luke: You got me, baby, and quite possibly a world tour here, unless we can stop the queen of the damned before she leaves town.
Laura: I love you. You know, maybe I should ask Nikolas.
Carly: Hey, is Michael all right?
Sonny: Out like a light. He didn't even wake up when I put him back to bed. He had a little smile on his face like he was dreaming.
Carly: Probably dreaming he was a race car driver in one of those little red toy race cars you gave him.
Sonny: Going --
[Sonny imitates engine revving]
Carly: Oh, thanks.
Sonny: My pleasure.
Carly: Can I make an observation?
Sonny: Mm-hmm. Go ahead.
Carly: You look awful.
Sonny: I'm a little short on sleep.
Carly: Do you want a drink?
Sonny: No, I'm fine.
Carly: Oh, no, you're not. No, you're not. How about -- how about if I make you some supper? Okay, how about if I order from no-name and get you some pasta?
Sonny: Hold on. Hey, Benny. Any response from Morales? All right, call me when you hear anything.
Carly: No news on Courtney?
Sonny: You know something?
Carly: Oh, sorry.
Sonny: It's all right. I don't ever want Michael’s nightmare to come true.
Carly: Well, it never will.
Sonny: Well, "never" is a big word. You know what I mean?
Carly: Sonny, you are a wonderful father. You would do anything for Michael, and you would never desert him.
Sonny: No, I wouldn't, but you know how things happen sometimes.
Carly: Hey, what -- what's worrying you? What's going on?
Sonny: Mike disappeared all the time. I used to ask my mom where he was because I needed him to read me a book, fix my train, whatever it was, and my mom always said she didn't know where he was. Maybe she just said that, you know? Anyway, one time, I went looking for him. And I made all the rounds to all the places where I knew that he went -- the pool hall, the card room behind City’s, and the guy who used to place Mike's bets on the horses. I must have covered most of Brooklyn just to ask him to come home, you know? We needed him, you know? My mom did. I did. Not that that made any difference. I -- I used to practice my speech while I was walking because he always said that, you know, manners were important, so I was -- I was going to say "please" and I was going to say "thank you" if he came home. Well, I never found him. Now, he probably could have been at, you know, the track or at another bar, or maybe he -- he saw me and he kept himself hidden because he didn't want me to find him.
Carly: Well, you know what? You are not Mike.
Sonny: No, no, I know. And Courtney is going to figure out that she's in trouble and she needs me, and she's going to call me, right? And when she does, I'll be there for her.
Carly: You know, there's got to be something we can do.
Sonny: I'm already on it, but I need you to go along.
Carly: Of course I will.
Sonny: You ain't going to like it. It's about Skye.
Jax: Okay, you'll be safe here. We'll get you into bed. There we go. Get you warm. There we go.
Skye: Cold -- cold --
Jax: You know what? We should probably take off your clothes. I mean, that can't be helping. Come on. Take these off. They're wet.
Skye: They're going to find me. They're looking --
Jax: No, Skye. Skye, no one's going to find you, okay? I promise that. No one's going to hurt you. There we go. Your skin is freezing. I'm going to have to get your body temperature up faster. Here we go. All right. Let's get these wet clothes off. There. You're going to be okay.
Luke: You want to go see if you can get Nikolas to talk?
Laura: Maybe I should try, you know? Maybe he will tell me whatever it is that Helena is using to blackmail him.
Luke: Maybe he will. He sure as hell wouldn't tell me. I told both he and Gia that it was my fight, not theirs, and all they had to do was tell me where she was and I’d bring her in myself.
Laura: And they wouldn't say anything?
Luke: No. Nikolas acted like he didn't know what I was talking about, but I could tell Helena’s got something on Gia.
Laura: Well, that's it, then, because Nikolas would do anything to protect her.
Luke: And Helena knows it, so right now she's got your son right where she wants him.
Laura: Not for long.
Nikolas: I chose the Cassadine family over everything else. If that's not like my father, what is?
Gia: Nikolas, stop it. Don't let Helena and Stavros tortures you anymore. It's over.
Nikolas: You know, when I gave Helena the money, I -- I told her that it was on one condition.
Gia: That she'd stay away.
Nikolas: And never come back. She said she would.
Gia: See? She is never going to try to hurt us again.
Nikolas: I couldn't take her word for it, Gia, so I told her that if she ever came near my family or anyone I ever care about again, I would kill her.
Gia: Well, Helena must know that you meant that.
Nikolas: Well, I just hope it stops her from trying, you know?
Gia: It will. Are you still mad at me?
Nikolas: Yeah. But I want to forgive you, and I know I can because I know what you did was because you love me. I'd be crazy to question that.
Gia: And I do love you.
Nikolas: Come here.
Jax: There. Is that hot enough for you?
Jax: We've got to raise your body temperature up slowly, otherwise you might go into shock.
Skye: It's so cold.
Jax: Don't worry; I'll take care of you. There. Wrap that around you. There we go. How's that?
Skye: I'm sorry.
Jax: For what?
Skye: I thought I could make it.
Jax: Shh. It's okay. You're going to be okay. You just lie back and let your body absorb the heat.
Carly: What about Skye?
Sonny: She's the key to finding A.J.
Carly: Exactly. She obviously knows where A.J.'s taking Courtney. That's why we need --
Sonny: If Skye tell us what she knows, then I can get to Courtney before A.J. hurts her any more.
Carly: Well, Skye isn't going to tell you out of the goodness of her heart.
Sonny: That's why we have to drop any vendetta against A.J.
Sonny: Just till we get through this and Courtney’s safe.
Carly: Sonny, the man is slime. He hates both of us, and he spends most of his waking hours thinking of ways to take Michael away from us, and you just want me to sit back and make nice and smile to him?
Sonny: Okay, hear me out. Skye is our only link to A.J.
Carly: Right. That's why we need to put pressure on her so she can tell us where A.J. has gone.
Sonny: I already offered her a deal.
Carly: Sonny, you cannot make a deal with a two-timing witch like --
Sonny: Okay, will you just listen for one second? I told her to tell A.J. that there will be no reprisals if he brought back Courtney safe and he promises to stay out of her life.
Carly: So basically A.J. just gets to kidnap your sister.
Sonny: It's a means to an end. I'm not just -- I'm not saying that we forget what A.J. has done. I'm saying that I'll let this one thing go -- him manipulating my sister -- if he brings her back safely and he stays out of her life.
Carly: And we can count on A.J. and Skye to hold up their end of the bargain because they're just such honest and trustworthy people.
Sonny: I assured Skye that she would be safe. I need your help now, okay, Carly? It's crucial.
Carly: Sonny, I saw Skye.
Sonny: What happened?
Jax: There we go. Let's get you into bed.
Jax: That better?
Skye: I think so.
Jax: Just picture yourself on a beautiful sandy beach. The water is crystal clear, so blue-green you can see the fish --
Skye: No water.
Jax: Well, you don't need the water. You're lying on the beach. It's really hot. It's, like, 90 degrees, and the sun is warming you up. You're drinking hot tea.
Skye: How about we build a bonfire right in the middle of this room?
Jax: We can do that. We could burn the furniture. You're still freezing.
Skye: You're so warm.
Jax: You know, there's something else I could do.
Singer: Falling soft between the sheets this could be heaven right here on earth this could be heaven this could be heaven right here on earth this could be heaven
Sonny: Where did you see Skye?
Carly: At my club.
Sonny: And you mentioned Courtney and A.J.?
Carly: Well, I tried to appeal to her good nature, and I found out that she didn't have any. I asked her to tell me where they had gone, and she had no interest in helping and told me that she'd told you the same.
Sonny: Well, we'll just wait until she realizes that's the only out that her brother has.
Carly: But you could put pressure on her. You could trace her calls. You could threaten her. I mean, God knows she deserves it.
Sonny: I don't give a damn about Skye. This is about finding Courtney. A.J.'s using her to get back at me, and no matter what happens, whether he breaks her heart or drives her into a tree, no matter what he does to her, it's on my head. She's in this mess because of me. She's just an innocent girl, and I don't want her paying for my mistakes. I won't let that happen again.
Carly: Okay, Sonny, it will be okay. It will turn out all right.
Sonny: A.J.'s got her now, and what's happening? What are they doing together?
Carly: Okay, look, you know what? A.J. is not a good person. You are a good man, Sonny.
Sonny: Well, that's not the way Courtney sees it.
Carly: Okay, well, maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually she will. She might get sucked in by A.J.'s stories and his lying, but she's not a little kid and she will survive.
Carly: No, she will. She will. She will see A.J. for who he is, and then she will see you because you will be there being who you are.
Sonny: She's already seen that.
Carly: No, Sonny, she has only seen you reacting to stuff around her. She hasn't seen who you are underneath. Sonny, don't you know how special you are and how beautiful you are on the inside and how amazing all your loyalty is? I mean, why do you think that everyone comes back to you after everything you put them through? Look, trust me, okay? Courtney will take her knocks, and then she will see the truth. You just need to have some patience.
Sonny: I don't want Courtney hurt because of me.
Carly: Okay, I'll do whatever you want.
Laura: For a woman who's never felt love in her life, she sure does know how to exploit it. I've got to make Nikolas understand that he can't save Gia by giving in to this kind of blackmail.
Luke: Helena's damn good at this game. She invented it. It looks to me like right now she's got Nikolas all wrapped up in her web, and he's just not talking.
Laura: He's scared, just the way I was. You know, maybe that's it. Maybe I can make him understand what she did to me and that you can never play along with Helena because she doesn't play fair, that no matter what, you have to fight her.
Stavros: They're ready to take you to prison now.
Gia: No! Let him go!
Stavros: I can’t. The good people of Port Charles have found him guilty of being like me, and Nikolas has chosen to accept their judgment. His conscience is clean.
Nikolas: No! I will not let you take me.
Stavros: It's too late. The good people of Port Charles have passed judgment.
Nikolas: Good people? Lucky's a liar, pretending to love Elizabeth when he feels absolutely nothing for her! If anyone's guilty here, it's you, brother. And, Elizabeth, you told me to save Lucky at any cost. You were in the room when Helena destroyed his love for you. You could have done something about it, but instead you chose to hide in a corner! If you lost Lucky, it is your fault, not mine! And sweet Mother? My sweet mother. I'm your firstborn son, and you abandoned me, left me in my cradle for a man who murdered my father, and now you're about to remarry him, a man who hates me, who hates your own son! Not one of you -- not one of you can stand here and pass judgment on me because I am too strong! I am the Cassadine prince, and not one of you can touch me!
Gia: Nikolas, I love you so much. We can be together now.
Nikolas: I did it. I turned against everyone in my life that I care about and I love. Are you happy?
Stavros: Are you?
Nikolas: Yes, I am. I love bending people at my will. I love the power. I have never felt stronger and more alive. I finally know who I am.
Luke: Well, Nikolas certainly should listen to you. Nobody knows better than you how Helena can ruin people's lives.
Laura: Yeah. I mean, she gets you to do things that you would never, ever do and lie to people that you love the most. And then you're just so guilty that you can't live with yourself. I'll never be able to forgive myself for all the lies that I told you, Luke.
Luke: Oh, sweetheart, I forgive you.
Laura: Really? Oh, Luke.
Luke: Of course I do. Of course I do.
Laura: Thank you.
Stavros' voice: It's too late. The good people of Port Charles have passed judgment.
Singer: Soon comes soon sweet so sweet
Jax: You'll be okay now.
Singer: Falling soft between the sheets
Skye: Thank you.
Singer: This could be heaven right here on earth this could be heaven this could be heaven right here on earth this could be heaven
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Kristina: When are you going to tell Sonny about how you really feel about him?
Sonny: I just want the location. I will deal with A.J. myself.
Jax: I don't want to take advantage --
