Jax: Take Sonny's offer and be grateful.

Skye: Grateful? For what exactly? He's about to hunt A.J. down like a dog.

Sonny: If A.J. is drinking, Courtney’s in physical danger.

Alexis: God, you're stubborn.

Nikolas: You have absolutely no control.

Gia: Just give her the money and let her go.

Luke: I think he's hiding something. You don't have to be on Helena’s side to fall for her tricks.

Gia: Nikolas, I can't do this anymore. Just give Helena the money, and she can be free from our lives.

Nikolas: Gia, how can we possibly trust her?

Gia: Just take the chance. It's the only way to be free of her.

Nikolas: What guarantee do we have that she will stay gone?

Helena: Your only guarantee, my darling, is what might happen to both of you if you don't agree to help.

Nikolas: I will not be blackmailed.

Helena: I'm afraid it's too late to stand on principle, Nikolas, especially given your own questionable behavior. I only want to go away. I have no interest in returning. I give you my word as a Cassadine and as your grandmother.

Gia: Nikolas, just do this. It's the only way that we can just forget that she was ever here.

Nikolas: Gia, please take the money and give us a minute alone.  Your word doesn't exactly inspire confidence, Grandmother.

Helena: Oh, Nikolas, you can't believe that I want to turn you over to the police. Nikolas, I love you. I want you to be free to live your life. And my only condition is that I be free, as well.

Nikolas: I'm not about to do anything on the honor system. I will need more than a promise.

Luke: Gia?

[Gia gasps]

Luke: Sorry.

Nikolas: Gia? What's going on?

Luke: That's what I'm here to find out.

Ned: I was hoping he chartered one of your planes. Can you do me a favor and just ask around? Thanks. His name is A.J. Quartermaine. He was traveling with a girl named Courtney Matthews. And she's 20, blonde, very pretty. All right. Okay, just call me if you hear anything. Thank you. Hello, Jax.

Jax: Single malt?

Ned: We toasting a victory or drowning your sorrows?

Jax: No, this is strictly for medicinal purposes. It's for my injury.

Ned: No visible cuts or bruises. What injury are we talking about here?

Jax: It's the one I'm going to have after you knock some sense into me.

Ned: Don't tell me. Skye.

Skye’s voice: Ooh, this is so stupid. It's dark, the water's freezing. What choice did I have? It was this or face Sonny's thugs. At least this way I have a fighting chance. Ugh!  How could I let this happen? Oh! Ooh! What was I thinking? It's all my fault? I don't know where A.J. took Courtney. I tried to stop it. You know, maybe if I just -- if I can just talk to Sonny's mercenaries out there, they'd believe me. Ooh, God, what am I thinking? Oh, it's freezing. I'm obviously getting lightheaded. I can't feel my legs. How could I do this?

[Wood creaks]

Skye’s voice: Oh, God. Oh, God, what was that?

Skye’s voice: I have to get out of here. Sonny's people are probably all over the grounds by now. Oh, the person who locked me in this boat shed and left that note was trying to scare me. Oh -- and it worked. Oh.

Alexis: Out for a stroll?

Carly: Who are you, the new groundskeeper?

Alexis: Why are you on the Quartermaine property? You hate the Quartermaines.

Carly: I don't explain myself to you, Alexis.

Alexis: Carly, let Sonny handles Courtney in his own way. He told you himself that he wanted to handle --

Carly: Well, talk about obvious -- you hate the idea that I might actually help Sonny, don't you?

Alexis: It's your help that he doesn't want.

Carly: Where do you get off speaking for Sonny? You cannot stand the fact that he might be grateful to me and not you.

Alexis: Carly, I'm not going to go there with you. Let's stick to the issue at hand. Don't take matters into your own hands. Oh. You already have, haven't you?

Sonny: I'm not even sure I should be here or I have the right to ask for anything. I should probably be in the first pew, kneeling and begging for help from a merciful God. Not that, you know, I'm any good at begging or nothing -- God has any reason to listen to me. Neither do you. But anyway -- I -- I -- I learned to say my Hail Mary from my mother. I actually know it better in Spanish than I do in English. We used to sit on my bed at night and we'd say it together. And when things got bad and I was older, you know, I'd hear her whispering it to herself, to you. And one time when she was crying and her mouth was bleeding, I said to her -- I said, "why -- why even pray when you don't listen and you don't help?" And she said I was wrong, that you do hear us and you do care and that you send us grace every day. Grace to go on and grace to live through it. All I had to do was ask, so that's what I'm doing now. I'm just -- asking for help, not just for myself, but for my -- my sister Courtney.  Virgin Maria, por favor, audile.  I bought you this statue. Paid for it, anyway. It was my first wife's idea. They were renovating the church and they needed a new statue for this alcove, and Lily told me that the virgin mother would love it if I -- if I gave you one and I did. Do you like it enough to save my sister? I know that's wrong. I should not be bargaining. I've tried that. I've offered my life and anything I have if you would just, you know, save the people that I love. But that's not the way it works. You can't change God's will. You can only intercede and ask for mercy, so I'm just asking if maybe you can intercede for Courtney. She's run off with a man who is going to hurt her. His name is A.J.   A.J. wants Michael back. He calls me a hypocrite because I stole his son away from him. He calls himself a father and he says Michael is his son by right. But I -- I swear to you on Michael’s life I did not act out of vengeance. I love Michael, but I would never steal him away from his own father just to make myself happy. I did it because Michael has no father.  A.J. will hurt him and destroys him. He killed his little brother, my son, and now he's got my sister. And he's forcing me to make a choice. So what I'm trying to say is please don't let my sister be hurt because of my choice.  Enough people have been hurt because of me.

Alexis: What have you done? You've done something obviously.

Carly: Oh, and you are obviously jumping to conclusions to make you appear right and me crazy. What else is new?

Alexis: Carly, if you want to prove something, then this isn't the way.

Carly: This isn't about proving anything to Sonny. This is about loving him and helping him. It is about Sonny and I looking after each other no matter what has happened between us.

Alexis: Implicit in everything you've just said is an admission that you've done something.

Carly: All right, fine. I came to search the grounds.

Alexis: Search for what?

Carly: For A.J. and Courtney. What else? Look, no one has been able to track where that helicopter went after it left the hospital, so I thought maybe it landed here. I mean, this place is so huge, who would ever know?

Alexis: Alan ordered the helicopter for A.J. and Courtney. He said he took them to J.F.K.

Carly: And you believe him?

Alexis: Ned assured me that he was telling the truth.

Carly: And what if they're lying to Ned, too? Alan already admitted that he helped A.J. and Courtney gets out of the hospital. I mean, who's to say he stopped there? Edward's got to be loving every minute of this because he would do anything to help A.J. drive Sonny crazy just for spite. Come on, it's not that delusional.

Alexis: It does make some sense.

Carly: Oh, get over yourself, Alexis. I had a good idea -- admit it.

Alexis: You had a good idea.

Carly: Thank you.

Alexis: We have to make sure that we don't make this worse and have this cost Sonny his sister altogether.

Carly: Well, why do you think I'm here? Look, whatever happens and whoever gets hurt, Sonny is the one who's going to end up paying for it and neither you nor I want that to happen.

Alexis: No.

Carly: Okay, so why don't we check this out? Why don't you check the main house and conservatory, and I'll check the gardener's shed and the boat shed and places like that, okay?

Skye’s voice: Oh. I can't hold on any longer.  Ooh. Swim, damn it! Swim while you can still move your legs.  Oh, right! Oh! I can't even swim the length of a hot tub. Last time I tried that, that old lady had to save me. It was so pathetic. I can -- I can do this. I can swim across the lake. I'm going to get to the other side and I'm going to find Jax. Okay. Oh! God! Stop thinking about him. He doesn't want anything to do with me. Oh. Oh! Oh! Oh! God! It's better than thinking about what's swimming around in this water. Oh! Oh, Jax! Oh, God! Jax!

Ned: Hallelujah. You've finally come to your senses.

Jax: No. Forget the light. I just need you to punch me one good one. Okay? I've got it coming.

Ned: Well, it sounds a bit extreme, but I’d be happy to oblige.

Jax: Well, I need extreme, Ned, because -- because I am done, okay? I -- I'm -- I don't think ever in my entire life have I ever been in anything that is so -- so --

Ned: Insane? Infuriating? Stupid? Self-destructing.

Jax: Okay, you're not helping at all.

Ned: Stop me if you hear anything that you haven't thought of yourself.

Jax: You know, there's no reason for you to be so smug because it's not like I asked for this.

Ned: You must have. You're not naive.

Jax: You're right. I'm not. I knew exactly what I was walking into with Skye. It has nothing to do with brains.

[Ned sighs]

Jax: Or maybe it does. She's smart, Ned.

Ned: Oh, yes -- and devious.

Jax: And she's beautiful.

Ned: Mm-hmm.

Jax: It makes for a pretty wicked combination. You know, I used to look at her and I’d think to myself, "Wow, this woman -- you know, she's got guts. She's fearless. She stretches the truth until it's unrecognizable, but she does it so well and she looks so good doing it."

Ned: Mm-hmm, and then you realized that she's nothing but schemes and lies.

Jax: Yeah.

Ned: Underneath that slick, ruthless facade is nothing but a slick, ruthless person. That's all there is. She's a shell, an empty box wrapped up real pretty.

Jax: Now, Ned, Ned, I wouldn't exactly go that far -- ah!

Ned: Now, don't make me hit you again.

Gia: I thought you might be Helena. Can you blame me for screaming?

Luke: No, no, that happens all the time. People mistake me for Helena a lot. Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I scream.

Nikolas: Okay, Luke, why did you come back here in the first place? You know, you already searched the tunnels with Lucky. Besides, I have security crawling all over the place. There's nothing more to do.

Luke: Nikolas, I know what's going on here. You've got a whole lot to deal with. You're trying to get out from under the dark legacy your family stuck you with. You've got an enormous inheritance -- it must be a lot of responsibility. You're trying to get something going with Gia. You're getting deeper and deeper into this when you should be getting out. And you -- this is tough for you, too. I know. You got more than just that haunted mansion to deal with. This is a lot of family history that you don't understand, you don't -- probably don't want anything to do with, but you guys don't have to go through this. There is an alternative.

Nikolas: And what would that be?

Luke: That would be me. I know Helena, far better than I’d like to. We've been down this road over a million times, she and I. I know her tricks, I know her manipulations. And what I'm offering is that you go ahead and live your lives and let me go after her.

Nikolas: Luke, I sincerely appreciate the gesture, but this is my grandmother we're talking about, all right?

Luke: I know, Nikolas. I know. That's why it might not -- it might not be easy for you to be objective at this time. If you'd just go on about your business and lay it in my hands, I swear to you I can handle it. Why don't you talk about it? I'm going to go take another sweep through the stables.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Gia: There's nothing in there, Luke.

Nikolas: Go ahead, go ahead.

Luke: Okay.

Gia: Why did you let him go in there?

Nikolas: Because I know my grandmother. She's gone.

Gia: Nikolas, why don't we let this be Luke’s problem? Just let him deal with Helena once and for all.

Jax: Well, you know, all that time at the gym must be paying off, Ned, because that was quite a punch.

Ned: Well, it's been building up for weeks. I appreciate the opportunity, though.

Jax: Well, you're welcome. I wish you would've hit me in the head because you might've put it back on straight.

Ned: Salud.

Jax: Yeah. Cheers. You know, I really thought that I could bring out the part in Skye that was real. I thought I could make a difference.

Ned: Nothing makes any difference to Skye except Skye. She and A.J. are two of a kind.

Jax: No, no, although, Skye seems to think so and A.J. plays on that, but they're not two of a kind.

Ned: Skye is up to her neck in this scheme to get back at Sonny. I mean, what kind of human being goes along with a plan to use a 20-year-old girl? I mean, Courtney is the one you should be rescuing --

Jax: No, no -- you know what, Ned?

Ned: Not Skye.

Jax: Ned, you'd be surprised to find out that Skye actually tried to stop A.J. from doing this.

Ned: Really? Is that what she told you? And how did she try to stop him?

Jax: Well, she -- she --

Ned: What?

Jax: She locked him in a closet, okay, to try to stop A.J. from coming to Carly’s club opening.

Ned: Hmm. Locked -- okay, which proves two things. First of all, she knew exactly what A.J. was planning to do, and, two, she obviously didn't try hard enough to stop him -- that's if it's true in the first place.

Jax: Hey, it's the truth, okay?

Ned: You know what? You're right. I should've hit you in the head. In fact, I should've taken a two-by-four and cracked you right --

[Knock on door]

Ned: Don't move. We're not through.

Alexis: I can trust you, right?

[Skye shivers]

Skye: Ooh, God. I can't -- I can't feel my legs. I'm going into hypothermia. I can't -- I can't. No, this is insane! I can't hold on much longer. I can’t. I have to go for it. I have to swim for it. Ooh, I can't! I'll drown! Oh, God. Why didn't I pay attention in that stupid swimming class? It was because of that lifeguard -- ooh -- what was his name? Mike? Matt? Mitch? Ooh, I don't know. I was flirting instead of learning and --

Skye’s voice: Snap out of it. Focus. Another hour and you could be buried on a highway off-ramp. Probably be warmer than here, though. It's now or never. Take a deep breath -- damn it! Swim or die trying.

Carly: Huh. Somebody let Skye out. Perfect. Problem solved.

Sonny: I have sinned through my own fault, in my thought, in my word, in what I have done.  You know what I've done. You see my heart. You see the hate that I carry there, the ambition. I have knowingly sinned for the sake of power.  I have lied, I have stolen and I have killed and I will -- I will do it again because I will not give up what I've won. And if you want to send me to Hell, if that's your judgment, then I’ll go because I -- I will not be helpless.  You've taken -- You’ve taken Lily, Stone, my children, and Brenda, and I accepted these losses. I understand that's the life that I got to -- you know, I got to pay for that for the life that I've chosen. But these are my sins, not Courtney’s, and she don’t deserve any of this. If you're going to punish anybody, you punish me.

Gia: Nikolas, Luke’s right. Why not tell him that Helena’s here blackmailing us and let him deal with her?

Nikolas: Because Luke will not be satisfied sending her to prison.

Gia: Well, what Luke does is out of our hands. It's his responsibility. What he decides, it will be on his conscience.

Nikolas: Gia, I know what Luke will do and so do you. He will kill her. I'd rather let her go free.

Gia: Well, maybe we can talk to Luke and get him to agree not to hurt her.

Nikolas: He would never agree. And if by some miracle he did, he would turn Helena over to the police and then she'd tell them that I covered up about the accident. Gia, to save you, I have to save her. I have to get her as far away from here as possible before Luke figures things out.

Gia: Nikolas, please.

Nikolas: I have to do this my way, the way we talked about. Understand that. Can I have the money, please? Thank you.

Ned: Come on in.

Alexis: Am I interrupting? I'm sorry.

Jax: No, actually, we were -- we were through. I got what I came for, so I'll leave you to it.

Ned: Yes.

Alexis: Yes what?

Ned: You asked me a question. I'm giving you the answer -- yes, I can be trusted.

Alexis: Do you think it's possible that Alan is hiding A.J. and Courtney on the property?

Ned: Alan said they took a helicopter to Kennedy.

Alexis: Well, maybe he's lying. I mean, he's the one that got them away in the first place.

Ned: He's not lying and he's not hiding A.J. and Courtney on the property. Okay? My family is genuinely concerned that A.J. has gone too far. And actually, so am I. I mean, his intentions are completely out of whack, but I certainly don't want him to die for it.

Alexis: You're being very reasonable.

Ned: Well, Kristina reminded me that this isn't about Sonny and A.J.  It's actually about a 20-year-old girl who has no idea what she's getting into. I was actually ready to ignore the whole situation. Kristina reminded me that I -- I couldn't.

Alexis: She has a way about her, doesn't she?

Ned: Yes, she does.

Alexis: I can see that she makes you happy.

Ned: There's something that I need to say to you, something you need to hear.

[Door closes]

Father Coats: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. Mr. Corinthos.

Sonny: Good evening, Father.

Father Coats: I thought the church was empty. I was just about to lock up.

Sonny: Oh, well, I'll go ahead and do -- leave.

Father Coats: No, if you'd like a few more minutes to pray, I can close up the parish hall first.

Sonny: Thank you.

[Sonny sighs]

Father Coats: Mr. Corinthos, you've been incredibly generous to this parish. And --

Sonny: Maybe I'm trying to buy my way into heaven.

Father Coats: That hasn't been my impression.

Sonny: Maybe it's blood money, you know, profits from the wrong I've done. Maybe by giving it to the church, it's just, you know, my way of washing it clean.

Father Coats: Well, it may come as a surprise, but the church is more interested in cleansing your soul than your money.

Sonny: Not everybody can be saved, Father.

Father Coats: That's up to God, Mr. Corinthos.  You're a powerful man. But even you can't tell the lord what he can and cannot do.

Sonny: To be saved, you have to be sorry for your sins. You have to promise God that you'll try not, you know -- do your best not to sin again.

Father Coats: I see you've had the benefit of a Catholic education.

Sonny: Yes, Sir, 10 years.

Father Coats: You seem to be missing an essential point -- God loves you, Mr. Corinthos. There's nothing he wants more than to help you.

Sonny: Then why does he keep taking away the people who matter to me? They had nothing to do with this. Why doesn't he just punish me instead?

Father Coats: Well, you seem to be doing an excellent job of punishing yourself when your time could be better spent.

Sonny: Doing what?

Father Coats: Changing your life.

Nikolas: I'm assuming you can get back to the mainland the same way you came.

Helena: Yes, I have a discreet little powerboat waiting. Nikolas, you made the right decision. It's the only one you could've made.

Nikolas: Not yet. I am saving your life, yes, but we are going to get a few things straight. I don't trust you or your promise that you will stay out of our lives, but I guarantee you can trust this. You come anywhere near anyone I care about and I will kill you. Now goodbye. Take the money and get the hell out of my sight. Go.

Carly: Well, that was a lot of hand-wringing for nothing. By the time I got back to the boat shed, someone had already let Skye out.

Bobbie: Well, if she was gone, that probably means she's okay. What are you upset about?

Carly: Of course she's okay, Mother. She's the Teflon princess. Nothing sticks. Skye gets to go out without a hair out of place, and me? I am still no closer to finding out what A.J.’s done with Courtney. God, you know, I wanted to do this for Sonny.

Bobbie: Are you trying to use this to get Sonny back?

Sonny: I've tried to change my life, Father. I left a woman I loved at the altar. I broke her heart to save her life and I went away and lost my mind. Am I giving you a confession right now?

Father Coats: Is that your intention?

Sonny: Well, if this is between you, me, and God, then I can, you know --

Father Coats: Yes, it is.

Sonny: There's a darkness inside of me, a place that has no bottom. If Hell is the absence of God, then this place is the absence of light. I know it's there because, you know, I try to avoid it, I try to ignore it, but it's pulled me in three times. It's like being in a nightmare and not being able to wake up. That's what's waiting for me if I leave this life. I refuse to go back there, and I know that's selfish because, you know, I should make the sacrifice for the people I love. Do you think it will?

Father Coats: I'm not sure I understand.

Sonny: Well, God understands, you know? He understands everything. He understood when he put me in the hands of my stepfather and he also understood when he put Michael in my hands. God knows that I will protect that child no matter what. You know what? If I'm damned anyway, why not take advantage of it? Why not take the power of my sins and use it against my enemy?

Father Coats: You'll be perpetuating the very thing that brought you here. Hatred breeds hatred. The only solution is forgiveness.

Sonny: Oh, I understand forgiveness, Father. My mother used to forgive my father over and over and over and over.  You know what forgiveness is, Father? It's getting the permission to hit again. I won't do it. I won’t.

Luke: Nikolas?

Nikolas: Hey, Luke. It's late. Helena's nowhere on the island. You're more than willing to check if it'd make you happy.

Luke: So that means she's gone and you helped her get away. Where'd she go, Nikolas? Where's she headed? I got about a million things to say to you right now but the only thing that matters is you have really messed up. You've got no idea what you've done here, man!

Carly: Look, I'm not going to stand here and say that I don't lie awake at night thinking about our baby and wondering what our lives would be like had I not tried to force him into witness protection.

Bobbie: Carly, I watched you with Sonny and I know that as often as he made you happy, he would turn around and break your heart.

Carly: Yeah, but I did the same thing to him. I mean, look, one minute -- one minute, we would be -- we would be screaming at each other and the next minute, we'd be laughing. You know? But we always understood one another. See, that's the crazy part. Sonny -- he can read me like no one else, like I can read him. God, he is hurting so badly right now, mom, and yeah, I want to be the one to save him but it's not a plan to get him back. You know, it's just because Sonny would do the same thing for me. You know, married or not, he would never, ever let me fight A.J. on my own. It's just not who we are.

Bobbie: So this is about loving Sonny instead of being in love with him?

Carly: I don't know. Maybe -- maybe it's a little of both. I mean, do I want our life back together? Do I dream about him and wake up at night and want to talk to him and laugh with him and make love with him? Yeah. But you know, even if it never happens, even if it turns out to be the wrong thing, I still care about Sonny. You know, and -- and he hurts so bad and maybe he's got this sister now that he has so much in common with and that's what makes me so mad about what A.J.’s done because he could've ruined that for Sonny.

Bobbie: Look, I really believe that you are doing what you think will help.

Carly: But you think I've got an angle. Right? Look, you are wrong this time. Yes, I want Sonny back, but it's not why I am doing this. I'm doing it just because it's the right thing to do.

Sonny: Santa Maria, Madre de dies, tu ruega por nosotros, los pecadores, ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte. Amen.

Ned: I want you to be happy, wherever your heart leads you.

Alexis: Okay.

Ned: And if I happen to find A.J., I'll be sure to let you know and you do the same for me and together, if we work together, maybe we can put a stop to this.

Alexis: I think that's called gate-keeping.

Ned: Yes. Yes, it is. And we used to be pretty good at gate-keeping back in our day. Maybe we can bring A.J. and Courtney back here before Sonny finds him, okay?

Alexis: It's a deal.

Skye: Don't know where to go or where is safe. If I can just wait here -- I --

Jax: Skye?

>> On the next "General Hospital " --

Nikolas: She was there the first time I came looking for you at the stables. Why didn't you tell me?

Laura: Maybe I should ask Nikolas.

Luke:  Yeah.

Jax: Corinthos? He did this to you?

Sonny: Skye is our only link to A.J.

Carly: I saw Skye.

Sonny: What happened?
