Lucky: Put down the letter.
Nikolas: It's a letter from my father.
Bobbie: I have no idea where Luke is.
Laura: You haven't heard from him?
Carly: I just need to find someone to get in between Courtney and A.J.
Courtney: Sonny, let go of him!
Skye: I'm calling 911.
Elizabeth: So, has my hair recovered from the Gia Campbell makeover?
Gia: Will you forget the hair and thank me for picking out what you're wearing because you actually look really hot.
Elizabeth: Oh, don't sound too amazed.
Gia: What, are you kidding? I'm jealous.
Elizabeth: That's a new one.
Gia: Your biggest challenge is getting dressed for a date with Lucky, and I'm about to face serious fashion dilemmas like what to wear to the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Elizabeth: You got invited to the Royal Albert Hall?
Gia: Yeah, it's a prince's trust benefit rock concert. It's one of a jillion invitations that have been pouring in. It's pretty overwhelming. What am I supposed to wear to a rock concert with royalty?
Elizabeth: I have no idea.
Gia: Me, neither. I mean, not that I'm comparing a fashion dilemma to what you're going through with Lucky. I'm just saying that we've both been going through serious, major adjustments.
Elizabeth: I know you and Nikolas have been dealing with a lot, too.
Gia: Well, nothing compared to what you and Lucky are going through, which is why I know Nikolas and I will make it. If that sounds like I'm gloating --
Elizabeth: I'm glad things have worked out for you.
Gia: Thanks. You know, it can be pretty hard work loving a prince, but I'll struggle through it somehow.
Lucky: Come on, let it burn!
Nikolas: Let go of me right now!
Lucky: Or what? You going to hit me? Over a piece of paper from a psychopath? What the hell is wrong with you, Nikolas?
Nikolas: He saved my life, Lucky. He set me free in Helena's lab.
Lucky: You were going to get out anyway.
Nikolas: He was my father, all right? In his own way, he loved me.
Lucky: Oh, my gosh, Nikolas, tell me you're not falling for this crap.
Zander: I got here as soon as I could. What's the emergency?
Carly: Hey. Good. Here, take this, you're going to need it.
Zander: Whoa, I'm not taking your money. What are you doing?
Carly: Oh -- you know, you're right. You know what? It's better if we just go together.
Zander: What is the problem? Did you rob a bank? Are we skipping town? What's up?
Carly: No, we're going to get you a new wardrobe. Hey, wait, wait, wait, when did you get that new shirt?
Zander: My clothes are fine.
Carly: You know what? I agree. But then again, I've always been partial to that "Rebel Without a Cause" look.
Zander: Okay, so what's the problem?
Carly: Look, this girl, she is obviously impressed by money and expensive clothes, so we're going to make sure that you look like you've got plenty of both.
Zander: Carly, I thought we agreed that you were going to stop with this whole matchmaker thing.
Carly: Look, this isn't about romance. Okay, this is about protecting Sonny's sister from that worm A.J.
Zander: Whoa, whoa, wait a second. We already talked about this. I'm not dating Courtney.
Carly: Are you -- refusing to help Sonny?
Courtney: Take your hands off of him. Take your hands off of him right now. Sonny, tell your men to stop.
Sonny: Let go of Mr. Quartermaine. Wait upstairs.
Sonny: You should go, too.
Courtney: Not until you explain what just happened.
Sonny: This doesn't concern you.
Courtney: I was in the car with A.J., okay? He wasn't doing anything wrong. We were just having a conversation, and then your guards drag him out of the car and slam him up against this one. I want to know why.
A.J.: Okay, Courtney, it's just, you know, it's just a simple misunderstanding.
Courtney: Are you kidding?
A.J.: Look, your brother and I, we -- well, we have a complicated past, right, Sonny?
Alexis: If Mr. Quartermaine is gracious enough to realize that this was a misunderstanding, then maybe we should just let this go.
Skye: The hell we will.
Alexis: If Mr. Quartermaine has chosen to drop the charges, it would make sense that we do that.
Skye: What about the time when Sonny kidnapped A.J. and held him in a meat locker until he was forced to sign away all of his parental rights to his only child? What that a misunderstanding, too?
Courtney: Did you kidnap A.J. and steal his child?
Sonny: Wait upstairs.
Alexis: You know what, Courtney? I'll go with you.
Courtney: You cannot get rid of me that easy. Did you do what Skye said?
Alexis: Why don't you and I go upstairs?
Courtney: I'm waiting for an answer -- yes or no?
Alexis: It appears that things are a lot more complicated than they seem.
Courtney: No, I was there. I saw what those guards did to A.J., and now Skye says that Sonny kidnapped A.J. before? If you deny it, I'll believe you. So tell me it's not true.
Mac: We got a report of an assault in progress.
Skye: Two of Sonny's men grabbed A.J. and dragged him out of the car.
Taggert: Any other witnesses besides you?
Skye: Are you suggesting that I'm lying?
Mac: You've been less than truthful with the police before, Ms. Quartermaine.
Skye: It happened exactly like I just said. Courtney saw it and so did the driver.
Driver: I didn't see anything.
Taggert: Ahem. What about you?
Alexis: You don't have to answer that.
Taggert: You know what? You let Sonny and Ms. Davis shut you up down at the police station. Don't do it again.
Courtney: I'm not sure --
Alexis: If you pressure Ms. Matthews into answering the question, it will be regarded as coercion, and I know that's not your intention.
Mac: Why would these questions be coercion? Is there something you're trying to hide?
A.J.: Hey, Mac, you know, my sister, she's just -- she's overreacting, that's all, you know? Sonny was just concerned for his little sister.
Mac: Are you the same A.J. Quartermaine that's been after the police for months, alleging Sonny kidnapped you and forced you to sign away your child?
A.J.: You know what, Mac? I'm just tired of the hatred. I just want to get on with it, okay?
Taggert: Yeah, you know what?
A.J.: Look, Sonny, I know that it's going to be difficult for you to forget some of the things that I'm responsible for, so I'll tell you what -- I'll take the first step, all right? I'm -- I'm willing to let all this go.
Taggert: If that's the way you want it.
Mac: The next time you report a crime in progress, make sure you can back it up.
Sonny: Let's go.
Courtney: That's it? If it wasn't for A.J., they would be hauling you off to jail right now. Wait, you can't even manage a simple "thank you"?
A.J.: No thanks is necessary. Really, I just hope that you take the gesture in the way it was meant, that's all.
Sonny: I know exactly what you're doing, A.J., and why.
A.J.: I'm just trying to make peace, Sonny.
A.J.: Yeah. I don't want to fight with you anymore. I just -- let's get on with things, all right? Let's just forget about it. What do you say?
Sonny: Come on, let's go.
A.J.: Some other time. Savio, Skye.
Courtney: What is wrong with you? What, are you some kind of monster?
Zander: I will do whatever I can to help Sonny. I've already proven that. But dating his sister is going way too far.
Carly: Well, we have to do something. Look, you should have seen the way A.J. was oozing all this phony charm all over Courtney, and she was buying it.
Zander: Hey, Courtney's a smart girl, okay? She's going to figure it out.
Carly: Look, you don't know how good A.J. is at this stuff, okay? He has been lying his entire life. He has perfected this to an art form, and I even fell for his Mr. Sincerity act. And it wasn't until I really got to know him that I realized what a reptile he is.
Zander: Carly, there's got to be another way.
Carly: Zander, this is perfect. Okay, you are -- you're younger than A.J., and you are much better looking.
Zander: In your opinion.
Carly: Oh, please. A.J.'s ferret face and his shifty eyes?
Carly: Please, will you just look at yourself? Look -- beautiful square jaw, wonderful smile --
Zander: Well, I -- okay, okay, okay, but I still -- it's -- it's a bad idea.
Carly: Okay, how -- how hard can this really be? I mean, Courtney's pretty, and she seems friendly enough. Not to me, but I'm being objective here. So just do me favor -- take her out, show her a good time, and make her forget she ever met that worm of an ex-husband of mine.
Zander: Look, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'd do just about anything for you, but I can't do that.
Lucky: You know, Nikolas, you almost -- almost sounded just like Helena right there. Talking about how Stavros was some sort of devoted father.
Nikolas: I said he loved me.
Lucky: He was a sicko. He kidnapped our mother. He almost killed my father, and to top it off, seduced your own girlfriend. And now you're acting like you're sorry that he's dead.
Nikolas: You didn't see the same side of him that I did.
Lucky: It was an act, Nikolas! He played you like a puppet, and you fell for it.
Nikolas: Is it so impossible to believe that my father may have one, just one single redeeming quality?
Lucky: Stavros was evil. Evil. He did terrible things. Are you denying that?
Nikolas: No, I am not! I'm simply saying that maybe one small part of him was not like that. The man cared about me. He looked in my eyes and told me he loved me.
Lucky: Of course he did.
Nikolas: It added up -- the things he said to me and to Gia, the photo of him holding me as a baby. I'm not naive!
Lucky: Okay, well, you were looking for a father. You wanted him to love you. I get that.
Nikolas: You don't get that, Lucky! I could stand here and try and convince you until I am blue in the face! It goes in one ear and out the other, but you're not listening! You've made up your mind!
Lucky: Okay. Okay, you think Stavros' love for you was the real deal? I think it was phony. But no matter what it was, you can't erase all the damage that he did. The world is a better place because that guy's gone. Now, what's this all worth anyway? Your father's dead. The letter is in ashes right now. It's not even worth thinking about.
Nikolas: You know, I think you should get going. I don't want you to be late for your date with Elizabeth.
Lucky: You know I'm only saying this, Nikolas, because I love you. Because I care about you. Because I want you to have a great life, man. I want you to have a life without regrets.
Nikolas: I know that.
Lucky: So what are you going to do? You're going to -- you're going to come with us?
Nikolas: I can't, man. I've got all this paperwork to do. I'm sorry. Hey, hey.
Laura: Lucky, Nikolas, hi.
Nikolas: How was your trip?
Laura: It was good. I'm so glad to see both of you.
Laura: Hi, honey.
Laura: I'm okay. Are you all right?
Lucky: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. You know, I hate to say hi and run, but I've got a date with Elizabeth that I'm already running late for right now. Make sure you tell Dad I said hi.
Laura: Your dad's still on the road.
Lucky: Where'd he go?
Laura: I don't know. Don't worry about it. I'm sure he'll be back soon. You go ahead and have fun with Elizabeth.
Lucky: All right.
Laura: Something's wrong. Tell me.
Laura: So what was all that about a date?
Nikolas: Oh, well, Lucky wants to start over with Elizabeth. He's hoping his love will come back if they -- I don't know -- take it from the beginning again.
Laura: And Elizabeth agreed?
Nikolas: Well, she thinks it's worth a try, so they've decided to see each other without, you know, any pressure and see what happens.
Laura: And you think that's a mistake?
Nikolas: Not at all. Why?
Laura: Well, I don't know. It just seemed like you were having some kind of a disagreement.
Nikolas: No, it was just brother stuff.
Laura: Oh. What is he so upset about, then?
Nikolas: I think he's having a hard time adapting to the new getup -- the suit and the tie.
Nikolas: And me, you know, running the estate.
Laura: Yeah. You know, I can certainly understand why Lucky would have a problem with that, Nikolas.
Nikolas: I can, too. I can, too. I guess it's -- he thinks I'm working too hard.
Laura: Well, maybe he has a point. I mean, he is out having fun with Elizabeth, and you're stuck here with all this work.
Nikolas: Well, there is a lot to do.
Laura: Nikolas, is this what you really want?
Nikolas: Do I have a choice? I am a Cassadine, right?
Gia: Come in. Hey, Lucky.
Gia: Elizabeth will be back in a minute.
Lucky: Where'd she go?
Gia: I'm not sure. Something about a surprise for you. You know, you're late, by the way. Is that how you treat a woman you're interested in?
Lucky: Ah -- actually, I got hung up at Wyndemere.
Gia: Oh, you went to see Nikolas?
Lucky: Yeah. I was hoping maybe you guys would come with us, you know.
Gia: He said no?
Lucky: You know the night Elizabeth and I were supposed to get married? You told her that I didn't love her.
Gia: Lucky, I never meant to hurt anyone. I honestly believed that Elizabeth deserved to know the truth.
Lucky: Yeah. Then so do you.
Gia: What do you mean? Did something happen with Nikolas?
Lucky: Nikolas had been thinking about Stavros. Just now, I swear that he was actually missing the guy.
Skye: You're really loving this, aren't you?
A.J.: Oh, what is not to love? Hey, how about the handshake? Huh? How about the offering? If looks could kill -- whoo-hoo. Oh, Skye, I'm telling you, it feels so good to win.
Skye: A.J., you used a young girl's pain to strike out at Sonny. You call that winning?
A.J.: Don't get moralistic on me, Skye. She has a right to know the truth.
Skye: No, you deliberately hurt that girl. Are you deluded enough to think that Sonny's just going to sit still and take that? You may think that you've won, but from what I can see, you may have pushed Sonny too far.
Courtney: You summoned me?
Sonny: I asked to see you.
Courtney: Is this where you explain why you had your guards grab A.J.?
Alexis: He was concerned when he thought you went off with Skye.
Courtney: Look, I get that you're his lawyer, and I know that it's part of your job to make excuses for him. But you're my brother, and I would appreciate a little honesty.
Sonny: I was concerned. I told Max and Johnny to go looking for you. You said you wanted us to get to know each other.
Courtney: That's not even an answer. That's not anything. I just don't get you. I can't figure you out. Sometimes it seems like you're reaching out to me. Other times you turn to ice. So here is your chance to tell me exactly who you are.
Sonny: I'm a man with a complicated life. I -- I make choices that require compromise. I keep those choices private so they don't affect the people around me, and that includes you now. There are aspects of my life that I don't discuss, questions that I don't answer because I don't want them to touch you.
Courtney: I guess that's your way of admitting that everything that they said was true.
Sonny: You really need to understand, A.J. Quartermaine hates me.
Courtney: It looked to me like the other way around.
Sonny: That's what he wants you to think.
Courtney: Excuse me?
Sonny: This whole thing was a setup.
Courtney: Wait, you are putting this all on him?
Sonny: Even the commissioner knew he was lying.
Courtney: What are you saying? That he arranged to have himself dragged out of his own car? You just admitted that you sent your guards to find me.
Sonny: I wanted to protect you.
Courtney: What? By assaulting an innocent man?
Sonny: He's not innocent!
Courtney: Okay, I'm not talking about the past. I'm talking about right now, okay?
Courtney: A.J. was sitting in his car. Last time I checked, that wasn't a crime.
Sonny: I know the man. You don't.
Courtney: I know that A.J. refused to press charges, and when he was decent enough to try and shake your hand, you couldn't even bring yourself to do it.
Sonny: That's right. That's right!
Courtney: Okay, all right, I know that you blame A.J. for being drunk when Carly fell down the stairs, but it was not his fault. It was an accident, okay? A.J. did not mean for you and --
Sonny: Stop defending him!
A.J.: Are you on my side or not?
Skye: It would serve you right if I turned against you, considering you were threatening to blackmail me over my plans to ensnare Jax.
A.J.: Oh, come on -- never come to that.
Skye: Oh, how reassuring.
A.J.: What's going on, Skye? You and I, we have similar goals. You're using Jax to stick it to the family. I'm using Courtney to stick it to Sonny. I would think you'd use all your power to help me.
Skye: Maybe I am.
A.J.: By calling me deluded?
Skye: A.J., you're on a power trip, and from where I'm standing, it looks an awful lot like a three-day drunk -- the same grandiosity, that sense of invincibility. I am really worried that you're headed for trouble.
A.J.: No, I'm headed for victory. Skye, this is the sweetest deal that's ever fallen in my lap. I mean, it's almost perfect. Sonny has a weak spot, and I am in the perfect position to exploit it.
Skye: Sonny is a dangerous man. A.J. Come on, didn't you learn anything from the meat locker incident?
A.J.: I'm not going to let him intimidate me.
Skye: Sonny thought that he was defending Michael by kidnapping you. What do you think he's going to do to protect his own sister?
A.J.: He would never do anything to make Courtney hate him, and she will if he continues to push.
Skye: A.J., You're a double-crossing, blackmailing stinker. But you're my brother, and I don't want to lose you. Please, please, A.J., just give this up.
A.J.: You don't get it, do you? I finally have a chance to win. I need you to believe I can, Skye.
Lucky: Nikolas almost took my head off.
Gia: Lucky, the letter you burned was from his father on the day Nikolas was born. He had a right to keep it.
Lucky: No, it was a forgery from Helena. The point is Nikolas fell for it. He actually believes that Stavros still loves him.
Gia: Nikolas knows what Stavros was really like.
Lucky: Gia, he was defending Stavros.
Gia: Nikolas is totally aware that his father was a horrible man. He hates that side of him, okay? But he also feels like there was a small part of Stavros that really loved him.
Lucky: Oh, man. You know, you're starting to sound like Nikolas.
Gia: Lucky, I knew Stavros, and I think maybe it was true. I mean, yes, the guy was a monster, but a small piece of him did really have love for his son.
Lucky: Wait, what are you saying? That he wants Stavros to become alive all of a sudden so he can have some sort of warm and fuzzy relationship, father-son thing?
Gia: No, no, he is relieved that the whole thing is over.
Lucky: You could have fooled me.
Gia: Lucky, I live with Nikolas. I sleep next to him. He has nightmares about his father, and he wakes up in cold sweats, okay? His greatest fear is that he's going to become just like his father. But that's impossible. But he guards against it every minute of every day.
Lucky: He's running the Cassadine estate, Gia! Most of his time is going to be caught up in family matters. You watch, wait. You'll see, the past will start sneaking up on him, and before you know it, there's going to be all sorts of havoc!
Gia: Lucky, it's money! Money is not good or bad until someone uses it. And we both know that Nikolas plans to do good with it. But what was he supposed to do, just throw the whole fortune away when we both know that there's a chance he can do good things with it?
Lucky: You know, I just want my brother to be happy, that's all. And from what I can see, that's not going to happen until he can steer clear from the Cassadines for good.
Laura: Stefan left me a note explaining his decision to move to Milan. And I can certainly understand why he wanted to, but I think that it left you with a really unfair burden.
Nikolas: Well, he has trained me for years to run the estate. I know what I'm doing.
Laura: I know that. It's just that, you know, if you're going to be completely overwhelmed with work now --
Nikolas: You knew I was taking over. It was announced at the party.
Laura: Right, right, but at that point, I thought that Stefan would be staying here to help you with all of it. I mean, for God's sakes, it's a tremendous responsibility. Nobody could be completely prepared for that.
Nikolas: So are you telling me that you don't think I can handle it?
Laura: No. No, no, no, I'm not saying that at all. No, I think you could do anything you made up your mind to do. It's just that you're still young, Nikolas. You know, you and Gia are just starting your lives together, and I would like you to have some time to enjoy that.
Nikolas: Are you asking me to give up my inheritance?
Laura: No, I'm asking you not to let it drag you down.
Nikolas: I promise you, I will manage, okay?
Laura: You don't have to manage. That's my point. You could always call Stefan. You could ask him to come back and return the estate to his control.
A.J.: All my life, I've heard I'm a loser. Doomed for failure. Not good enough. I made it a self-fulfilling prophecy, but no more. No.
Skye: A.J., you're not a loser, but this just may not be the way to prove that you can win.
A.J.: I'm not going to back off from this, Skye. Cops can't hurt Sonny. Rival gangs can't. But I have something that can, and I'm going to use it.
Skye: Unless he decides to stop you.
A.J.: Oh, don't be like everyone else and assume I'm no match for Sonny. I know what I'm doing. I've got it all mapped out.
Skye: Okay. So tell me.
A.J.: Sonny likes to play noble, right? I'm going to be more noble. He likes to be Daddy Warbucks? Well, I'm going to give generosity a new name. In a short while, Courtney is going to knock on the door and apologize for her brother. I will then assure her that I have risen above it. I'm going to be her prince, and Sonny can't fight back because he would never hurt his sister. That's the beauty in this whole thing, Skye. Don't you see that? You see, protecting innocence is Sonny's one fatal weakness. And Courtney is as innocent as they come.
Skye: I suppose.
A.J.: Now tell me I don't know what I'm doing. Tell me I'm being grandiose. Or tell me you're the one person who believes I can win.
Sonny: Alexis, can you take Courtney across the hall?
Alexis: That's a fine idea.
Mike: Sonny. Courtney, what's going on?
Courtney: My big brother just ordered me out of the room. Not that it matters. I was leaving anyway.
Mike: What did he do?
Courtney: It's not important. I guess I'm just getting to know him. Anyhow, I'm going. So if you want to see me, I'll be across the hall.
Mike: All right, well, go do whatever you want.
Courtney: Do you mean that?
Mike: Yeah, I do.
Courtney: I want to live with you.
Mike: What? What, do you mean my apartment?
Courtney: It's not working out for me here anymore. Please, Dad, let me stay with you.
Mike: Honey, I would love to have you with me, but my place is tiny. There's no room, and it's a lousy neighborhood.
Courtney: Well, I don't mind, I don't mind. I just need to get out of here.
Sonny: If Courtney wants to live with you, Mike, then you're going to have to move.
Mike: All right, I'll start looking tomorrow.
Sonny: All right, find yourself a safe place and comfortable.
Mike: Look, just keep your money, okay?
Sonny: If you want Courtney to live with you, you're going to have to take the cash. If you want to do what's right for your daughter, take the cash.
Mike: You ready to go?
Courtney: Okay, I'll pack my stuff, and then I'll meet you in the lobby.
Alexis: Come on, Courtney, I'll walk you across the hall.
Mike: What the hell did you do to your sister?
Sonny: I don't have to answer to you.
Mike: I know what I walked in on. You were punishing her with your anger and your silence. I've been on the receiving end long enough to recognize the signs. But this time, I'm not going to sit back and watch. I will protect my daughter against anyone, including you.
Sonny: We're finished.
Mike: Listen, you won't change, will you, Michael? The second someone disappoints you, the door slams shut, and God knows if it'll ever open up again. You can take your grudges out on me till the day I die, but don't ever do anything or take anything out on Courtney again. Ever.
Elizabeth: Sorry I'm late.
Lucky: That's okay. I was, too. We're even. Wow. You look fantastic.
Elizabeth: Oh. Thank you.
Lucky: Where'd you go?
Elizabeth: To get you a present.
Elizabeth: Come on, open it.
Lucky: All right.
Lucky: Well, it's just what I've always wanted.
Elizabeth: It's for tonight so we can make new memories.
Lucky: Well, if you wanted a camera, I've got a great one.
Elizabeth: Oh, no, no, no, no, you're not getting this.
Lucky: What do you mean? Photography's my life.
Elizabeth: The whole idea is we throw out all of our pressures, all of our worries. Let's not think about the past or the future. Let's just enjoy ourselves right now. What do you say?
Lucky: I say we should get started, then.
Lucky: All right. Say "We're cheesy."
Nikolas: Stefan is finally free. I can't ask him to come back.
Laura: But he would if he thought you needed help.
Nikolas: But, see, that's the thing. I don't. Yes, it is very overwhelming at times, but I'm actually beginning to enjoy it. Besides, Gia is looking forward to the extra perks -- socializing, traveling to other countries.
Laura: Oh, Nikolas, Gia doesn't love you because you're a prince.
Nikolas: Well, I know that, okay? But the fact remains -- I am.
Laura: Okay. So how are you adjusting to this new role?
Nikolas: Very well, actually. And to prove it, I am willing to drop all of this paperwork and take you out to dinner right now. What do you say?
Laura: Oh. Well, I like that.
Nikolas: Good. Give me two seconds. Nikolas Cassadine. Well, we need that subsidiary to round out our portfolios. I don't care. I want that company and I plan to get it. Well, they need to know that Nikolas Cassadine does not negotiate. I take what I want. Now, let me know when the deal's done. You all right? What's -- what's wrong?
Laura: I just got a little startled, that's all.
Nikolas: You were staring at me like you had seen a ghost or something -- or my father. That's it.
Carly: Then maybe I should just warn Courtney again.
Zander: Yeah, bad idea.
Zander: You two didn't hit it off from the start.
Carly: All right, so I'll be more convincing this time.
Zander: Okay, what are you going to say?
Carly: That A.J.'s a drunken, lying pig.
Zander: Just like that?
Carly: I'll be a little more subtle.
Zander: And if Courtney doesn't listen to you, which she probably won't, this whole thing could blow up in your face.
Carly: You're right. This is a no-win situation.
Zander: Most likely.
Carly: God, I'm so glad I only told you. You're a good friend, Zander.
Zander: Well, you've done a lot for me, too.
Carly: You know, it's strange how you get what you need most when you least expect it.
Carly: You know, you are a person that I can trust and I can count on. And, you know, you never make me feel stupid when I've done stupid things.
Zander: Well, you're not stupid.
Carly: Yeah? Okay, so then how come I let myself get so worked up about A.J. and Courtney, hmm? She is Sonny's sister. She is not my problem. She's his, and there's really nothing that I can gain from butting in and a hell of a lot that I could lose. We're leading separate lives now and it's probably best that way. He doesn't need my help or want it.
Zander: Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself.
Carly: Come on, let's face it. Sonny isn't looking out for me anymore, and he would probably consider it to be a complete waste of time.
Zander: Yeah, that's -- that's not true.
Carly: You know, and it's very sweet of you to say that, but you don't know that, Zander.
Zander: No, Carly --
Carly: You don't, so it's not --
Zander: Carly, Carly -- you were right from the start. I made friends with you because Sonny asked me to. I've been watching out for you under Sonny's orders.
Skye: Fine, A.J. I believe you can win. But is hurting Sonny by manipulating his sister, is that really going to make you feel better?
A.J.: Skye, I'm not manipulating, okay? Courtney likes me, and I like her.
Skye: Oh -- oh, right. Would you really be doing this if she weren't related to Sonny?
A.J.: You act like what I'm doing is a bad thing. As far as I'm concerned, I'm doing her a favor.
Skye: Run that one by me.
A.J.: Think about what kind of life she's had. She grew up believing her dad was dead. Found out her mother lied. He's actually alive and never tried to find her. Then she finds out that her brother is the biggest crook on the eastern seaboard.
Skye: Who also happens to be your mortal enemy.
A.J.: Okay, but what about safety? Sonny's first wife died by a car bomb. Now, I want to keep Courtney away from that. What I'm doing is a good thing. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, you can almost call me a hero.
Skye: Or not.
[Knock on door]
A.J.: Who is it?
Courtney: Courtney Matthews.
A.J.: Hey. What are you doing here? I mean, I'm not sure this is a good idea.
[Door opens and closes]
Sonny: They're gone?
Alexis: Oh, yeah. Sorry for intruding. I'm certain you would like to be alone right now. Never mind.
Sonny: You know what? I just -- I want you to know that I didn't forget what you did. I didn't, you know -- I didn't think it was right, but --
Alexis: Listen, thanks for reminding me, but, interestingly enough, I got it the first time.
Sonny: You don't have to leave. You know, I knew Courtney would see me someday, really see me for who and what I am. I knew someday she'd ask me questions that I wouldn't be able to answer. But I thought I'd have more time, you know? That -- she'd like me a little bit, maybe, you know? More time for her to trust me or even maybe believe me when I said to her that my choices in my life would never touch her. There are things I never wanted her to see. Ugly things.
Sonny: I frightened her today. I did not want to do that.
Sonny: I never wanted any woman to look at me like that again.
Alexis: So tell her.
Sonny: I can't.
Alexis: Yes, you can.
Alexis: Yes, you can learn to communicate like a grownup instead of keeping everything locked inside and letting it fester and fester until it blows out into a rage and you break everything in everybody's apartment. It's not fair to the people around you. It's not fair to her. So tell her. Talk to your sister and tell her that you're sorry for frightening her. Talk to your sister and tell her that you love her.
Alexis: You can get better at expressing yourself. You can. You -- we both can, actually. I'll show you. I'll go first. I'm going to tell you how I feel about you.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Laura: Stavros is dead.
Nikolas: He's even more real to me now than when he was alive.
Carly: Whose idea was this for me to help you get over Emily? Was that Sonny or was that one you?
Courtney: I really need to talk to you.
A.J.: You shouldn't be here.
Sonny: How do you feel about me?
