(Brenda is stunned when Sonny leaves her alone at the altar in front of friends and family on their wedding day; AJ wants to know if he is the father of Carly’s baby; Jax and V share a moment together.)

Carly: Thank you.

AJ: I said under one condition.

Carly: I heard you.

AJ: If you think for a minute that I'm protecting you, in case you have any doubts, I'm not on your side.

Carly: I understand.

AJ: If I keep quiet, it's because I'm siding with the one person in this situation who has no voice and no vote. And if Tony spends 2 months or 2 minutes doubting that this-- that this baby is his, the kid's the one who will pay for it, by being a walking reminder. But you didn't think of that, did you?

Carly: You know, AJ, you're not gonna want to hear this from me, and you're probably gonna think it's just something that I'm saying, but you're really a good person. And you're not gonna want to believe that I always knew that. But I always did.

AJ: Yeah, well, you have a hell of a way of showing your admiration. And you haven't heard my condition yet.

Carly: Well, obviously you have the right to ask me whatever you want.

AJ: Prove to me this baby isn't mine.

Miranda: Can I ask you something?

Jax: Sure.

Miranda: Did you want to kiss me just now?

Jax: What difference does it make?

Miranda: I want to know.

Jax: Ok. Yeah, the thought may have momentarily crossed my mind. Turns out we didn't. No harm done. What about you?

Miranda: Well, whether I want to kiss you is a very different question from whether I want to be what gets you through your ex-wife's wedding day. I, uh... I think I'll go watch the sunset.

["Here comes the bride" plays]

[Door opens]

Brenda: Mm.

Mike: I knew it. Something's wrong.

Brenda: Is he hurt?

Jason: He's fine.

[Brenda sighs]

Mike: Is he with you?

Jason: No.

[Telephone rings]

Sonny: Yeah.

Driver: Sir, I'm hearing from all checkpoints since we deviated from the airport route.

Sonny: I'm taking a detour. No cause for alarm. Heard from Jason yet?

Driver: No, sir.

Sonny: It's ok. I...

Sonny: I know where he is. Thunderstorm coming?

Driver: Looks like it. Where to?

Sonny: You know, sometimes, you leave and you gotta go back, 'cause you think you left the door locked but you gotta make sure. That little, uh, park across from St. Timothy's church. Just for a minute. I just, uh, I need to make sure.

Lila: Alan.

Edward: She's better off. That man doesn't deserve to live.

Lucy: Brenda. [Whispering] You know, the side door is clear.

Brenda: You go ahead.

Lucy: All right.

Mike: Lucy, it doesn't make sense.

Lucy: Oh, no, it doesn't, huh? Why? Because your son is such a nice person?

Mike: There has to be a reason. You know that. You explain this to me.

Jason: There's not a lot to explain. Mike. He won't answer you.

Mike: Where is he?

Jason: Look, if he wanted you to know...

Mike: He went away? Now, sonny would never... is he coming back? Don't stand there like a stone!

Mary: Mike.

Mike: Cal. Cal! You didn't know anything about this?

Cal: I don't know what you mean, sir.

Lila: Will you come back with us, both of you? I'll have cook fix us a little supper.

Justus: Thank you, Lila.

Lila: Oh, and, uh, would you be very kind and invite everybody else?

Edward: My dear, we are not prepared to entertain this many people. And besides, I'm sure what everybody wants to do is just go home and forget this night ever happened.

Lila: Edward, they're Brenda's invited guests. She can't entertain them, so we shall.

Edward: Oh, God.

Lila: Oh, and I'd particularly like Mr. Corbin to know that he's welcome.

Edward: Ohh!

Alan: Oh, great. What a time to be trapped. I'll get Reginald.

Reporter: It's over already?

Man: Everything's over.

Brenda: Now what?

Jason: I guess that's up to you.

Brenda: Well, why is this happening?

Jason: Do you have a coat?

Brenda: Where are you taking me?

Jason: Anywhere you want.

Brenda: I want to get married, and I want you to take me to sonny.

Jason: Anywhere but that.

Brenda: Why? Forget it, I'll find him myself.

Jason: You won't find him.

Brenda: Why not? I am so sick of your stone face, do you know that? Obviously he sent you here, so why did he send you here? Forget it, Jason, I'm not going to sit here and conduct my relationship with sonny through you.

Jason: Brenda. You don't have one anymore. That's why he sent me.

Carly: AJ, just think about it for a minute, ok? We slept once. That's not how people get pregnant.

AJ: That's the only way people get pregnant. It's not cumulative like a savings account.

Carly: Oh, AJ, ok, wait. Um... I know that this is important to you, but there are limits on how much reassurance I can give you. Do you know what is involved in an amniocentesis? Now, I don't care how minor they say the risk is, it's not justified for this.

AJ: I agree.

Carly: Well, so?

AJ: So, first thing in the morning, we're gonna go get you scheduled for a sonogram. No risk to the baby, no risk to you. And I understand that they can pinpoint the date of conception pretty closely.

Carly: I--I can have it done privately. I'll go to a clinic.

AJ: Right, right. Uh, and, uh, have it conducted by Mick the bartender? I don't think so. [Laughs] No. You're gonna have it done right here at general hospital.

Carly: Why?

AJ: Because I'm the chief of staff's son. And I can double check the results if I need to.

Carly: AJ, I cannot do that, ok? It would get back to Tony. Look, you do not know how gossipy this place is. How am I gonna explain suddenly demanding to know the date of conception?

AJ: Make something up. You must lie to him at least as much as you lied to me.

Carly: You want me to lose him, don't you?

AJ: You deserve to. But the baby doesn't. If it's his.

Carly: May I remind you that if I betrayed Tony on that night, so did you.

AJ: I'm aware of that. But unlike you, I'm willing to do what's right once I know what it is. If you're telling the truth, the sonogram will tell me that you're 6 months pregnant. And if that's the case, I will wish you a nice life and walk away. And I won't say a word to Tony. But if you're lying... and that sonogram tells me so, brace yourself. And, uh, by the way, if you get another urge to run away and elope, curb it. Because the first time Tony calls in for his messages, he'll get a mouthful from me. You understand? See you in the morning.

Jax: I loved Brenda with everything I had. And it didn't work. I mean, I knew it might not right from the start, so how shocked could I be? You look at the world and you think that everybody sees it the same way as you do. I mean, mountains are beautiful, airports aren't. Lobsters taste better than toothpaste. And happiness is better than being shot full of holes. I mean, these things, they all seem so self-evident that you would assume anyone given a choice...wouldn't choose, uh... bleeding as a way of life. But you would be wrong. Somebody will. Maybe someone you care about. And it's sad. You're sorry. You just--you don't get it. But what can you do but let them go? Unless you want to spend your life bleeding, too, which I don't. And I'm not looking to be consoled about it, either. Much less for a consolation prize. So just relax, ok? I mean, I--I have a great life, and this place is part of it. I mean, the sand and the champagne and the sunsets... that's what I come here to remind myself of. But if you're gonna get all angst-ridden on me, I may have to maroon you on that island after all.

Miranda: [Laughs] Well, uh... watch this. Am I getting the general idea?

Jax: You have now left forever the category of cheap date.

Miranda: [Laughs] Oh.

Bobbie: We have got to get out of here for Brenda's sake, but if we wait for a cab in this weather, we could be here all night.

Lucky: Well, that's me. Me and my bright ideas, yeah. Why not walk? It's so close.

Bobbie: Yeah. Well, you know, um, there's a bright side. Justus says the Quartermaines invited everybody over to their house, and they're sending cars.

Elizabeth: To their personal mansion?

Lucky: I really don't feel like being butlerized and having little pink things on crackers shoved in my face.

Bobbie: Ok, well, I'll tell you what. Why don't we take the car and somehow I'll convince the driver to drop you and Liz and Ruby off.

Lucky: Ok.

Elizabeth: Hey. I don't mind going.

Lucky: Look, you weaseled your way in here, you saw what there was to see, and now you're getting a ride home. Just be grateful.

Elizabeth: I am.

Mac: Ok, car's waiting. What? What's going on?

Keesha: Nothing. Nothing. I'll see you later?

Felicia: Ok.

Keesha: Bye.

Mac: Bye.

Felicia: It helps to open it.

Mac: I was already wet when I got to the car. And I guess I won't be needing this. Sorry, robin.

Felicia: Dara said to tell you that she--

Mac: I saw her on the steps. Felicia, my stomach is growling. A person could starve going to Brenda's weddings. I know, I know. I'm an insensitive clod.

Felicia: Well, your stomach is in luck, because we've all been invited over to the Quartermaines for supper.

Mac: Well, how nice. That's wonderful. Let's see, now, is there anyplace we would rather less want to be than here? Oh, yeah.

Both: The Quartermaines.

Mac: So what do you got in the fridge?

Felicia: I have some carrot sticks and 4 different kinds of mustard and jell-O.

Mac: Mustard goes with everything.

Felicia: It's practically a main course.

Brenda: Where is he?

Jason: I don't know.

Brenda: Why are you saying these things to me?

Jason: Because they're true.

Brenda: No. He doesn't do anything without telling you what he's doing.

Jason: I only know he's gone.

Brenda: Gone. All right. I want you to take me back to the penthouse right now, and I don't care if I have to sit in front of the door for a month. I'm gonna sit there and I'm gonna wait for him to come back and he's gonna tell me why he did this.

Jason: You can sit in front of the door until the day you die. Sonny's gone. He's not coming back.

Brenda: Ok. Something's happened and all the plans have changed. Right? Something went wrong. And, look, Jason, I know I'm not supposed to ask you any questions, but if you'd just give me a little hint, you know, like if someone got in the church and that's why he had to leave, or--or if it wasn't safe.

Jason: He left. That's what he told me to tell you. That's it.

Brenda: So someone found out about our plans to leave, right? And that's why everything went wrong. It wasn't safe and--

Jason: It was safe enough for him to take off alone.

Brenda: And he's waiting for me somewhere right now, and as soon as everything's ok, he's gonna call for me, and then I'm gonna go to him.

Jason: And if you find him... which you won't... he'd send you away.

Jason: Why are you saying that right now? I'm not stupid. All right? I know that sonny is doing all this for a reason. I trust him. He knows what he's doing. So...look, why don't you just tell me exactly what it is that he told you to tell me. Exactly.

Jason: He said to tell you that it was a great ride.

Brenda: See, there you go. He would never leave me at the altar. Sonny would never do something like this and have you come and tell me something like "it was a great ride." He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't end our relationship that way.

Jason: He did.

Brenda: No. He didn't. Maybe that's what you're supposed to believe. See, maybe...maybe what's going on is so heavy that even you can't know what's happening. I mean, that could happen, right? I mean, it makes a lot more sense than what you're telling me. You don't know for sure that that's not true, right?

Jason: Then why not have me say that he's missing or dead? That you would believe. You wouldn't like it, but you would understand it. Brenda, he doesn't want you to mourn. He doesn't want you to wait. He just wants it over.

Brenda: No. That's--that's what you're supposed to believe.

Jason: He might lie to you... but not to me.

AJ: I got your message. What happened at the wedding? Lila: Oh, you'll hear about it soon enough. But right now I'm concerned about you, dear. I hated having to cut short our talk.

AJ: You, uh, you didn't say anything to my father?

Lila: Oh, no, no.

AJ: Good. Listen. I'm ok. All right? Don't worry about me. You--you answered questions to things that I've been wondering about my whole life. It helped more than I can tell you. Really. I'm ok. So, why don't you go back inside with your guests?

[Crash, clatter]

AJ: Ooh. The eternal question-- was that something that cook dropped or something she threw? Lila: [Laughs] Well, I'd better go and see what it was.

AJ: All right.

Keesha: AJ. Hi.

AJ: Hey.

Keesha: Are you...coming in?

AJ: Uh...what for? It looks like a wake.

Keesha: Listen, um, I need to warn you. I saw Carly earlier, and I sort of lost my cool.

AJ: Don't worry. She's bounced back.

Keesha: You saw her.

AJ: Yeah. Carly and I still have some unfinished business.

Miranda: What are you doing?

Jax: Unplugging the TV, disconnecting the phones.

Miranda: Oh. Yeah, I regard electrical appliances as hostile to mankind. I think that, uh, they create some electromagnetic field that actually interferes with our thought waves. Well, mind you, I'm not talking about microwave ovens. I mean, a dog might be man's best friend, but a microwave is definitely a woman's.

Jax: Oh, goody. Your philosophy out.

Miranda: Well, have you ever thought that people in less developed countries that don't live under the shadow of power lines have far fewer cavities than we do?

Jax: Yeah, but then they don't eat cheesecake either.

Miranda: Hmm. That could be a factor. But if you want to turn off the electricity, I'm all in favor of it.

Jax: Well, actually, I'm just trying to spare my brainwaves from any further news reports about the wedding of the year.

Miranda: Oh. That. Have you ever studied death-worshipping cults?

Jax: Not on purpose, no.

Miranda: Me either. Um, do you believe that we are all inexorably drawn as if by electromagnetic forces to, uh, our own destruction?

Jax: No.

Miranda: Me either. But have you ever considered that the average person could be seduced by complete and utter evil in human form?

Jax: No more champagne for you.

Miranda: [Laughs] No, I'm just trying to figure out why a woman who has you would turn around and marry Mr. Corinthos.

Jax: Well, the sun just went to bed. One less shopping day till Christmas.

Sonny: This is good right behind the trees. Is that the front door? Driver: Right. I don't know if you saw it, but there's a car in the lot, behind the church.

Sonny: It's Jason's. Driver: Do you want me to wait, sir?

Sonny: I'm not going in.

Jason: I asked him not to make me do this.

Brenda: So you helped him do this. You guys were planning this this whole time. And that's why you guys always made me leave the room all the time when you were having those conversations. Why? Why would he do something like this? Were the feds coming down on him? Or someone was threatening his life or my life? Mm-hmm. Sonny tells you everything, right? Did he tell you what I should do right now? What do you think I should do right now? Jason, I don't... you remember when he called you on the phone that time and he fired you? I was there with him. You knew he was lying. And you went to him, and you said to him, "you're lying. I want you to take me back." What would you have done if you couldn't find him? What would you have done if he hid from you and you couldn't go to him and you couldn't say those things to him? Where would you look for him if you were looking for him right now, Jason? Please.

Jason: I don't like that he did it.

Brenda: Well, I am relieved, consoled to have your deepest sympathy. And I don't believe you. Sonny told me that he had to choose between the organization and me and he chose me.

Jason: I'll take you home.

Brenda: Sonny's my home.

Bobbie: Hey, you.

Alan: Hey, you.

Bobbie: It'll be nice to have Monica back, huh? You must miss her.

Alan: Yeah. It's very quiet here. As a matter of fact, it's unusually quiet.

Bobbie: You know, I never knew Brenda or sonny very well, but they always seemed so devoted to one another. I mean, they never even seemed to know that there was anyone else in the room.

Alan: The man's a disease. I felt so sorry for Brenda, but I'm telling you, when he didn't show up, I wanted to shout "hallelujah."

Bobbie: Well...I'll admit to having similar evil thoughts, but different motives, different wedding. Picture this. Carly standing all alone in front of a justice of the peace.

Alan: What justice of the peace?

Bobbie: Didn't Tony tell you? They eloped.

Alan: What?

Bobbie: Well, that was the plan. Your son may know whether or not they're back.

Alan: AJ?

Bobbie: Mm-hmm. I won't be throwing any rice, but maybe you should. That girl has been whispering in AJ's ear more than I would personally consider safe.

Jason: I have a car waiting in back. Let me take you.

Brenda: Don't...touch me.

Jason: The car's waiting. Would you please let me take you home?

Brenda: Go to hell.

Jason: Brenda.

Brenda: I want you to get out of my way. Get out of my way!

Driver: That was cal and the others coming out the side entrance.

Sonny: I saw. You see anybody else at the front door?

Driver: No. But somebody's there. It just opened.

Brenda: He always leaves me standing in the rain.

Driver: Sir, I don't think they're coming out the front way.
