Chanel: I know it's just a banner, but something about it just makes this whole thing feel real.

Allie: It is real. We're just about to start construction.

Chanel: I should be scared, but I'm not. I'm terrified.

Allie: I'm not. You have that same stream roller gene as your mom.

Chanel: And your donut recipe. And you. Allie, I promise, I'm not gonna let you down.

Allie: Vice versa.

[Tense music]

Paulina: Why don't you two just get a room?

Eli: Hey. What are you doing here?

Lani: Well, since our little ones are with doug and julie, I thought I would surprise my husband with some lunch.

Eli: Mmm. You can surprise me like that any time you want.

[Phone ringing]

Sami: It's ej. I have to take this.

Lucas: Oh, his every wish is your command.

Sami: You sound like a broken record. Hi, honey, how'd it go?

Ej: Just so you know, you're talking to the new ceo of dimera enterprises.

Chad: Don't you mean co-ceo?

Jake: Kate, gabi is telling the truth. Everything she said is true. She is the one I want, and I love her. I love her more than I've loved anybody my entire life, and I'm not gonna hide it anymore. I'm sorry. I-- I only stayed with you because I felt guilty leaving you after everything that kristen did to you, and you're still not over it.

Kate: Oh, do you mean the blindness?

Jake: Yes. I'm sorry, kate, I can't live the lie anymore.

Kate: You know what? I can't either. I'm not blind. I never have been.

Gabi: But--what the hell? No, no, no, you cannot have been faking it this entire time.

Kate: That's exactly what I was doing.

Gabi: Oh, my god. You really are the biggest bitch I've ever known.

Kate: And you two are the most craven, obnoxious, self-serving creatures I have ever known.

Jake: How the hell could you do this to me--to everybody?

Kate: Well, it wasn't hard. Actually, I think I did I did a rather good job really. I mean, there were a few times where I slipped, but then i covered really well.

Jake: Oh, my god.

Kate: Yeah. Life is really funny, isn't it? One second you're the ceo of an international enterprise with me by your side, and then suddenly, you're a bum again with that by your side. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Kate: Wow. Look at the two of you stunned into silence. I have to admit. I was also faking the amnesia, so actually, unfortunately, I saw the two of you going at it like two dogs in heat, and i don't think I'm gonna be able to get that out of my head.

Gabi: Oh, good.

Jake: But why? Why pretend?

Kate: Payback. Did you really think that i would let you have your happily ever after without any kind of payback at all?

Gabi: Do you have any idea what you put him through?

Kate: Yeah, I do because I was watching.

Gabi: You are disgusting.

Kate: Oh, really? Because you had it coming to you. Do you know what that felt like to wake up from a coma and hear the two of you discussing your future together? Because that was nauseating. I almost died, and yet all you two could talk about was yourselves.

Gabi: Oh, yeah, like you're so selfless.

Kate: I was, I was. I put you and your career in front of everything. I would have put the world at your feet, but you chose her. So yeah, absolutely, it needed to be addressed.

[Tense music]

Ej: I'm on the phone. Could you wait outside?

Chad: I think I'll wait here. Make it short.

Ej: What the hell? I'm so sorry. You were saying?

Sami: Oh, I was just saying that I knew you could do it.

Ej: Not without you. Samantha, I'm sorry, I've got to go. I'll see you later at the house. Maybe we can find a way to celebrate.

Sami: Well, I think we should start with champagne.

Ej: And see where that takes us. I love you, samantha.

Sami: I love you, too, ej.

Lucas: I really think I'm gonna be sick right now.

Ej: What the hell do you think you're doing?

Chad: It's only been ten minutes since our board meeting, and I'm already having some serious concerns about our working relationship.

Ej: Maybe we should get some counseling.

Chad: One of my biggest concerns is you being a condescending jerk.

Ej: Well, there's the door.

Chad: See, I know what you're doing, ej.

Ej: What I'm trying to do is clean up the mess that jake left.

Chad: You needed to get tony to go along, so you made him think you'd be willing to work with me as co-ceo.

Ej: Then maybe you should stop whining and start working.

Chad: You didn't leave your bed of pain or your opulent villa in italy to be co-anything. I know you're trying to get rid of me.

Chanel: Why would you say that, mama? I thought allie and I explained to you we're just--

Paulina: Friends, I know, I know, but in case that changes, there's the salem inn right over there, soon to be under new management, but I'm sure they have plenty of available rooms.

Chanel: One thing you'll learn about my mother is she loves to flog a joke to death, especially if it isn't funny the first time.

Paulina: Sorry, I cannot just tiptoe around, afraid of saying the wrong thing. See, I can't change my nature any more than you can.

Chanel: No one in the world knows that better than I do.

Eli: These biscuits are delicious.

Lani: Mm-hmm.

Eli: Chanel might actually have a good shot at making a go at the bakery.

Lani: From your mouth to god's ears. Maybe she will finally make enough money to...

Both: Move out.

Lani: Yeah. And then it will just be the four of us.

Eli: That sounds like heaven to me. You know, no one likes stakeouts, but last night was extremely hard. I just kept thinking about you, and the twins, and a bed.

Lani: We missed you, too.

Eli: It's boring without me, isn't it?

Lani: Mm, no, actually. I got some-- some pretty interesting news.

Eli: Oh, god. What did chanel do now?

Lani: It actually wasn't chanel. It was my aunt paulina. She's sleeping with my dad.

Eli: [Chokes, coughing]

Paulina: How about I take you two entrepreneurs to lunch to celebrate?

Allie: Oh, I would love to, but I actually have to meet up with my dad to thank him for watching henry this morning.

Paulina: I bet you have a lot of family that's just wanting to help you with your little precious little boy, right?

Allie: Yes, I do. I'm very lucky.

Paulina: Honey, I'm sure that they count themselves the lucky ones.

Allie: I hope so.

Paulina: Mm-hmm, I know with lani and eli's little angels, oh, I just love being with them. They give me, like, a window into what it would be like if I had some grandchildren of my own.

Allie: Right, well, maybe someday you will.

Chanel: Well, you better not hold your breath.

Paulina: Yeah, I'm not doing that, believe me.

Allie: Anyway, I'm gonna bring my dad some of chanel's brownies.

Paulina: Oh, piece of advice: If you want to have a successful business, don't give away the merchandise.

Allie: I'm looking at it as market sampling because given my dad's sweet tooth, I'll give him two of these, and he'll start just buying 'em by the dozen, so. I'll catch you later, okay?

Chanel: Tell your dad I said hi for me. Well, I guess I better get to work.

Paulina: Uh-uh, I'm not taking no for an answer. We are having lunch, just the two of us.

Lucas: "Oh, I knew you could do it, ej. I knew you could oust a garage mechanic from running dimera enterprises."

Sami: You know, it's so fun hanging out with you.

Lucas: Oh, and he got all those signatures, too, of all the dimeras. What a great achievement. Wow, he's amazing.

Sami: You are turning into a bitter old man, lucas.

Lucas: And you are a doormat. Do you realize that? Yeah, you thought you were going back to italy to patch up your marriage, but no, ej wants you here, so he can keep an eye on you, so he can keep you in line, move back into his mausoleum and get his job back. Boy, he's got everything figured out, doesn't he?

Sami: Well, first of all-- lucas: He gets everything he wants.

Sami: Why don't you remember that ej invited you to stay at the mausoleum, so that you could look after your mother?

Lucas: No, no, he didn'T. He said he honored the fact that we had kids, but he wanted me out of the picture. That's what he said. He wanted me to back off.

Sami: He was just making sure.

Lucas: Yeah, making sure he owns you and treating you like property.

Sami: He treats me like his wife because I am his wife. Ej told me that he talked to you and rafe that he doesn't want to let the past ruin our future, like it has so many times before.

Lucas: Well, maybe he senses a threat. Maybe he senses that he mistreated you for a little bit too long. And maybe he knows you're gonna move toward a real man, a real man who loves you. Well, maybe he's not wrong after all, is he?

Chad: Don't worry about forwarding me jake's financial reports. I already took care of them.

Ej: You think I was trying to keep them from you? I only got here five minutes ago myself.

Chad: You had those files before you called sami. They were your first order of business. You didn't include me.

Ej: You do see, don't you, that you're being paranoid?

Chad: Well, even paranoids have enemies.

Ej: I'm not your enemy. I'm your brother. And no, I was not playing tony. I think he was right. This partnership is a good idea. We worked together to get the company back, surely we can work together to get it back on its feet.

Chad: Ej, I am not jake, and I am not tony. I'm the brother who knows how sincere you sound when you're lying, how you can manage to look someone in the eyes even when you stab them in the back. Yes, we may be working together, but that doesn't mean I will ever trust you.

Jake: So you heard us in that hospital room?

Kate: Every sickening word.

Jake: I'm so sorry.

Kate: Yeah, well, it was in that instant that I decided I would wake up infirm.

Jake: But the doctor said--

Kate: The doctor said what I told him to say.

Gabi: Oh, my god. You're pathetic! I mean, you were that needy and desperate that you faked being blind?

Jake: Gabi, please.

Gabi: No, what--

Jake: Leave her alone.

Kate, I am so sorry that you heard us in that hospital room. And I am even more sorry that I wasn't completely honest with you the second you woke up. I am sincerely sorry.

Kate: Thank you. And in that spirit of sincerity...

are you tired of clean clothes that just don't smell clean?

Lani: Are you okay?

Eli: [Clears throat] Sorry, just the thought of your dad and your aunt paulina playing mattress.

Lani: Oh, watch it.

Eli: Yeah, well, you gotta admit that's a bit unsettling.

Lani: Yeah, I do, and imagine how uncomfortable I was when my aunt paulina just blurted it out.

Eli: You weren't eating a biscuit at the time, were you?

Lani: No, I wasn't, but my knee jerk reaction was just to be like, "no, no, no, no, ooh, I don't want to hear it. Can we just pretend like you didn't say that?"

Eli: Well, that's not what you said, obviously.

Lani: I managed to keep my cool, but still I just--I kept that my aunt paulina was just gonna go into detail.

Eli: I'd be afraid of that, too, with your aunt paulina.

Lani: But she didn't, thankfully. But even so, I wish she just would have said something like, "your dad and I are in a romantic relationship now." That would've been much easier for me to handle than her saying, "I'm sleeping with your dad." The mental images, you know?

Eli: Yeah, I know. I'm having the same mental images right now. Yeah, well, listen, we know your aunt paulina is determined to tell it like it is, no euphemisms.

Lani: I doubt she would ever use one of those in her entire life.

Eli: Yeah. Why did she feel the need to bring that up to you anyway?

Lani: She wanted to make sure I was okay with it, that if I wasn't okay with it, she would break it off with my dad. I thought it was really sweet of her, actually.

Eli: So what'd you say?

Lani: What could I say? That of course, yes, I'm fine with it.

Eli: Okay, well, clearly, you felt you needed to tell her that, but you can tell me the truth. How do you really feel?

Chanel: I know you've got a lot on your mind, mama, but you don't need to worry about me; I've tested out my recipes, and everyone loves them.

Paulina: Baby, this isn't just about baking. Running a business isn't easy.

Chanel: Well, I know, and I know math was never my best subject.

Paulina: Honey, we are not talking about math. You were never any good at arithmetic. Did you ever even try to add up the total monthly bills of all those credit cards I gave you?

Chanel: But I only used the ones where you got cash back or miles.

Paulina: Okay, okay, no need to get defensive now. It's not just you; it's a whole generation out there who, you know, they can't add or subtract unless their phone does it for 'em.

Chanel: I've been working on that. I got myself an online tutorial, and I've been teaching myself bookkeeping, payrolls, spreadsheets, everything. I mean, it hasn't been easy for me, but I keep telling myself I can do it, and i swear to god, mama--

Paulina: Chanel, just stop! Stop.

Sami: Would you keep you voice down?

Lucas: You were lonely and miserable when you turned to me. Do you remember that?

Sami: Yes, yes, and then we made love, and you've been throwing it in my face ever since.

Lucas: Right, I forgot, I'm not supposed to talk about it, my bad.

Sami: You're right, you're not supposed to talk about it because it upsets me.

Lucas: You don't think I'm upset, really?

Sami: Really, what are you upset about?

Lucas: Well, for starters, you dismissed what happened between us, and you act like it's the biggest mistake of your life, and you wish it never happened.

Sami: Yeah, because it is a big mistake, and I do wish it hadn't happened.

Lucas: How do you think that makes me feel?

Sami: Oh, come on!

Lucas: No, seriously, how do you think that makes me feel? If the shoe was on the other foot, if I came to you, and I said, "oh, I'm feeling a little needy and emotional, and I need you right now." And we made love, and then what do I do? I act like it didn't happen, and then I tell you not to tell anybody. How would you feel?

Sami: I would be happy because for once we'd be in agreement, and you were finally saying something that made sense.

Lucas: No, you just think you're the bees' knees 'cause you know I want to be with you, and you don't even care about that, do you?

Sami: Is that what this is about, lucas? That you're feeling insecure, and you think I'm feeling all confident, and that i should be boosting up your ego? I don't--I just don't have the time. I don't have the ability right now to make your ego my top priority, okay? I'm really sorry about that. And I'm also sorry because yes, the first time we made love, I was feeling very vulnerable, and I was very lonely. And the second time, I thought we were gonna die. But there isn't gonna be a third time, okay? Not now, not later, not ever.

Lucas: Fine, fine, but don't tell me what a great person ej is because you know what? He took the most interesting woman I've ever met, and he turned her into a suburban housewife!

Sami: How dare you!

Lucas: How dare you!

Sami: No, lucas, you have just--this is too far, okay--

Allie: Hey. What the hell are you guys fighting about?

Ej: Might I introduce a little logic into this conversation? If I wanted this job by myself, I would have pitched that to shin.

Chad: And tip your hand? No, you're like father. When you want something, you're willing to wait.

Ej: You can think what you want.

Chad: Thank you.

Ej: But I can only give you my word that I've been completely up front with you today. Yes, I'm ambitious, but what's most important to me is that father's company succeeds, and I think we both work better together. But the final decision is in your hands. Do you want to work with me or not?

Kate: Listen, jake, you can take your bs apology and just shove it because I am more than happy to be free of you and your silly little sidepiece. Speaking of gabi--

Gabi: Oh, if you even think about slapping me...

Kate: Oh, honey, I don't need to slap you. The fact that you're now stuck with this unemployed loser, believe me, that's punishment enough. Oh, but, jake, you might want to give your old garage a call 'cause I hear that they're hiring.

Struggling to manage my type 2 diabetes

Lani: No, I really am fine with it. If she makes my dad happy, then I'm happy. Just as long as I don't have to hear exactly how she's making him happy.

Eli: Yeah. Now, does your dad know that you're cool with it?

Lani: Mm-hmm, he came over while aunt paulina was there.

Eli: That's not awkward or anything.

Lani: He said it was important to him, too, that I knew about it because of everything with my mom, of course. But honestly, I don't think that she's gonna mind. She and dad were over years ago, and she has her own life.

Eli: Why do I get the feeling that something is still bothering you?

Lani: I don't know, maybe it's nothing, but I just worry that it's not just personal. You know, they're in business together. Dad went out on a limb and got the zoning cleared for her, and I know he believes in everything that she's doing for the community. I just--I just wonder if he's thought about what it looks like from the outside.

Eli: I think everyone knows that your dad is extremely honest.

Lani: I know, I just-- I worry that if something happens with the project, then what happens with their relationship? You know what they say about mixing business and pleasure.

Eli: It worked out all right for us, right? Right?

Allie: I could hear the two of you fighting from the doorway.

Sami: Did you hear what we were talking about? You didn't, did you?

Allie: No, but from the body language, I can tell it's not a minor league issue, so what's going on?

Sami: I wanna know what's in the bag! Look at that, is that something from the bakery, your new endeavor? I'm so proud of you.

Lucas: Thanks.

Allie: They're brownies to thank you for taking care of henry this morning, and I'm not leaving here until you tell me what you're fighting about.

Lucas: Well, what do you think we're fighting about? We're fighting about ej.

Ej: It's not a trick question. Do you or do you not want to work with me?

Kate: Well, I see that you have made yourself comfortable in jake's chair.

Ej: And I can see that you can see.

Chad: Oh, my god, it's a miracle. Tell me, kate, did you get your memory back, too? Is the nightmare finally over?

Kate: So in chad's most irritating manner, he's letting you know that I was pretending to be blind.

Chad: And have amnesia.

Kate: I had a score to settle, and I settled it. So now I'm ready to get back to normal life.

Ej: Has anyone ever used the word normal to describe your life?

Kate: Thankfully not. So you said there's a place for me here.

Chad: She remembers.

Kate: And hopefully it wasn't just talk.

Ej: Not at all. I'm ready to make you an offer right now, provided my co-ceo agrees. Chad?

Chanel: Mama, I'm so sorry. Did I say something wrong?

Paulina: No, it's just, I...

Chanel: Just what?

Paulina: Well, I know you have your heart set on this, and you have worked very hard. I just would hate to see you get hurt.

Chanel: Hurt?

Paulina: Did you know that 20% of all small businesses, they fail in their first year?

Chanel: That means 80% succeed. See, my math isn't that bad. And I'm awesome at baking. I can do this--I know I can.

Paulina: Of course, of course you can, and I'm not doubting you, no, not at all. It's just... as I said, well, businesses, they fail, and it would break my heart to see you disappointed.

Allie: Wow, you two fighting about ej, talk about déj vu.

Sami: Your father is being impossible.

Lucas: I was just stating the fact that ej's a narcissistic jerk, and your mom disagreed with me.

Allie: Well, it's her husband, dad.

Lucas: He can still be a narcissistic jerk, okay?

Allie: Did she ask for your opinion?

Lucas: No, honey, she didn'T.

Allie: So just out of the blue, you started talking about ej, knowing that it would upset her?

Lucas: No, it wasn't out of the blue.

Sami: Right, 'cause ej had just called me to say that he's taking over dimera enterprises.

Lucas: Yeah, big surprise there, didn't see that coming.

Sami: Here we go again. The company needs him.

Lucas: Right, he did everything out of the goodness of his heart, right? He intended to do everything. That's why he did it.

Allie: Wow, I have a lot of books about dealing with babies. I don't know if they make books about dealing with parents, but I will have to look into that. In any case, I think you two need a time-out.

Sami: You're absolutely right about that. How about you and I make a deal, lucas? From now on, we will avoid the subject of my beloved, successful husband, okay?

Lucas: Yeah. Deal.

Sami: It was really nice to see you, sweetheart. I love you.

Allie: Love you.

Sami: And don't eat all those brownies in one sitting.

[Soft music]

Allie: She's really under you skin, isn't she? And vice versa.

Chad: Yes. Of course I am on board. Welcome back, kate.

Ej: Chad, would you mind getting legal started on drawing up a contract? Also, kate, would you mind terribly if we ironed out the details a little later? Sami has a little celebration planned.

Kate: Oh, that's so sweet.

Ej: I hope you know how glad I am to be working with you both again.

[Tense music]

Chad: So do jake and gabi know about your sudden recovery?

Kate: Oh, yes, we just had a very nice long chat.

Chad: So you vote against him at the meeting, and then you tell them both that you were playing them for suckers. That is a nice one-two punch.

Kate: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It was quite satisfying.

Chad: And sudden. I thought you wanted to drag out the charade, wring out every drop of revenge you could. What made you change your mind?

Kate: You mean, was it because you tried to blackmail me?

Jake: That woman, that woman's scary.

Gabi: Imagine how hard it is for me to not say, I told you so.

Jake: I'm sorry. I should've listened to you.

Gabi: That--that's almost always true, but listen, that's water under the bridge. At least now everything's out in the open. We don't have to sneak up the back staircase. We can go up the big front staircase. Why don't we do that right now, up to my bedroom. We can celebrate our newfound freedom.

Jake: No, I can't, I can'T.

Gabi: What?

Jake: No, gabi, I can't live in this nest of vipers anymore. I can't walk around and see their smug smiles or hear their snide comments, all right? Screw it, I'm out of here.

Gabi: Wait, wait, wait.

Jake: No, gabi, do you hear me? I can't live in this house with them!

Gabi: Relax, it's my house. You don't have to leave. I'll just--I'll kick the rest of them out. Now, we all know progressive offers 24/7 protection,

Lani: So do you remember what you were doing a year ago?

Eli: Paperwork, probably.

Lani: That's all you remember?

Eli: What, is there something that I should be remembering?

Lani: Oh, come on! We were getting ready for...

Eli: The weekend?

Lani: Eli grant.

Eli: What? What are you getting so worked up for?

Lani: Our wedding! That's what you were getting ready for. You were gonna marry me.

Eli: Yes, yes.

Lani: It is our first anniversary tomorrow.

Eli: Yes, baby, our wedding. Come on, you know I knew that.

Lani: No, you didn'T.

Eli: Okay, all right, okay, all right, fine, but I would've if you'd have given me a hint. All right, okay, all right. Dang, look, yes, a year. Time flew, didn't it?

Lani: Yeah, unlike these last 30 seconds.

Eli: Okay, I'm sorry. All right, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I'm very, very excited that we are coming up on a year anniversary.

Lani: Okay, so what should we do? Should we get a babysitter, go dancing? There's this new club I heard about that sounds great.

Eli: Look, after the night that I just had on that stakeout, I'm beat. Why don't we just have a relaxing night at home and peacock and chill?

Lani: Right, okay.

Eli: Yeah?

Lani: Mm-hmm, sounds great.

Chad: I am sorry for trying to blackmail you.

Kate: Oh, it's all right. I would have done the same thing in your shoes.

Chad: You have done the same thing many times.

Kate: You know, truthfully though, it wasn't the--your threat that changed my mind. It was seeing gabi sitting there next to him, the two of them gloating because they thought they had won. But I certainly wiped that smug smile off her face, didn't I?

Chad: You certainly did.

Kate: You know, afterwards, he came to me and begged me to go to shin, change my vote. So I told him that I would do it if he gave up gabi, but he wouldn'T. So the two of them can live unhappily ever after.

Gabi: What a great idea you just had. I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when I give 'em the old heave-ho.

Jake: No, gabi, that's not--

Gabi: No, chad, ej, tony, anna, and especially kate.

Jake: Gabi, even with all of them gone, I wouldn't want to stay in this place, all right? I wish I never found out that I came from him or that I heard the name dimera. I can't stay here! I hate every damn brick of this fricking place. Damn it! Sorry. I got carried away.

Gabi: That's understandable.

Jake: Look... I know this place means a lot to you, and I don't want to take you away from the place that is that important.

Gabi: You're not. Jake, if you don't want to stay in this house, then I don't want to stay in this house, okay? So why don't we go up that big staircase and pack?

Sami: So you pulled it off.

[Laughs] And I was worried you wouldn't have the votes.

Ej: Actually, it was kate who saved the day.

Sami: But I thought that--

Ej: How about we go inside, pop the champagne, and then I'll tell you all about it.

Sami: Sounds good.

Allie: You and mom were getting along so well. I mean, it seemed like you guys were on the same page about everything, and now you're not.

Lucas: Yeah, because ej's back.

Allie: And the honeymoon's over.

Lucas: What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Ice t, stone cold calling on

to turn to cold washing with

Allie: I thought that's what you meant, that when ej's back in the picture, you and mom start fighting.

Lucas: Listen, I'm sorry, okay? It's just I shouldn't let ej get the best of me like that, but he does.

Allie: I mean, I know you don't like the guy. It's been that way for as long as I can remember, but why does it feel worse this time around?

Sami: I'm so relieved that it all worked out, that you won. I would have felt terrible if you hadn't because I didn't let you call kristen.

Ej: Well, I could see your point, but in the end I didn't need her.

Sami: Because of kate.

Ej: Mm-hmm. And just in case you were wondering if kate was still kate, she was faking the blindness. God only knows why.

Sami: Faking her blindness!

Ej: And the amnesia, too, actually.

Sami: [Laughs] That is pretty extreme. I mean, even for kate.

Ej: She did pull it off quite brilliantly though.

Sami: Well, of course she did, and all to get back at gabi and jake for running around behind her back.

Ej: How do you know that?

Sami: Gabi told me.

Ej: Here in this house?

Sami: It's been known to happen.

Ej: Well, that just proves that jake wasn't up for the job.

Sami: Don't tell me you're invoking a morals clause.

Ej: I'm talking about his innate dumbness, not his morals. Anyone with any brains should have realized that secrets like that always come out eventually.

[Tense music]

Chad: Well, at least it's all behind you now.

Kate: Yeah. But you know, actually, it wasn't satisfying as I thought it would be. I mean, I hate gabi. I hate jake, but you know, I did come to care for him.

Gabi: I'm tempted to shred all of her clothes, but we don't have to. Maybe she thinks that she paid us back, but she's the one that's all alone. She lost, and we won.

Jake: You really believe that?

Gabi: I do. Jake, why don't you make love to me here one last time? See, I want the memory of this place to be a happy one.

Jake: Sometimes you really have the best ideas.

[Soft music]

Eli: I'm sorry about tomorrow night. I just don't think I'd be much fun if we went out.

Lani: It's okay. It was just a thought. See you later.

Eli: All right.

Hey, yeah, lani, she was just here. I have her thinking that i forgot about the whole thing. She is gonna be totally shocked.

Paulina: I'm just managing your expectations. Look, it all just happened so fast. Maybe we can just save it for later, make it part of my next project.

Chanel: Mama, it's gonna be fine. I know I can bake, and I have you in my corner, and I know you wouldn't let anything happen to me.

Paulina: Honey...

[Phone rings]

Chanel: You don't even have to say it. I know your "I gotta take this" face. Love you. Later.

[Tense music]

Paulina: Yeah. What? Of course I'm going forward with the project. There's no turning back now. Yeah, yes, the mayor signed off on it. No, I want you to direct everything right through me. Now, abe, he can't know anything about this.

Lani: Abe can't know anything about what?
