Sarah: Xander... hey. All work and no play makes Xander a very dull boy. Hey!

Xander: Sarah, just give me a minute.

Sarah: No, you give me a minute. You've barely looked at me since I give you that flash drive that I copied all of Philip's files onto. A little gratitude would be nice.

Xander: I am grateful, and I will show you how grateful I am as soon as I've found what I need to nail Philip.

Philip: Maybe this is why I haven't heard from you, Ava. Maybe it means I'm off the hook.

Bonnie: "Have you seen this woman?" [Chuckles] So, Philip, you're looking for a lady, huh? Haven't you broken enough hearts already?

Valerie: I love that we both thought to bring Eli and Lani a freezer full of takeout.

Abe: Well, with newborn twin babies, they're not gonna have much time to cook.

Valerie: That's right.

Abe: So, do you and-- do you and Billy cook much?

Valerie: Oh, there is no me and Billy. We broke up.

Eli: Do you forgive me? Please?

Lani: Of all the things to joke about, Eli Grant--

Eli: I thought that you'd catch on sooner. Lani, you really think that I'm so scatterbrained that I would forget the babies' car seats? Especially when they're sitting right there at the front door of our apartment?

Lani: You might be.

Eli: Okay. I guess I deserved that.

Lani: Yeah, you did. Now let's go, okay? I wanna go and get our babies.

Eli: Wait, wait, wait. Actually, you know what? First, there's something we need to do.

Lani: Mmm.

[Gentle music]

[Suspenseful music]

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "Days of Our Lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Lani: Eli, I really wanna go get our babies.

Eli: Okay, we will, we will. But first... I think that we should savor this moment because it might be the last time that we're alone for the next 18 years, so...

Lani: Okay.

Eli: First... I want to do this. Mm... and second... I want to apologize to you.

Lani: For what? That lame car seat joke?

Eli: No.

Lani: Eli, it's fine.

Eli: No, no. Not the car seat joke. I wanna apologize to you again for going behind your back and forcing Kristen to confess.

Lani: [Sighs] Eli, you are a good man. A man that would do anything for the people he loves.

Eli: That's true. And I love you.

Lani: I know that. And Kristen knows that. She wants us to live a happy life with our children. So let's honor her wishes by bringing Carver and Jules home.

Eli: Okay. Yeah. Let's do it, let's go. Let's get these babies.

Valerie: Hmm. You're not saying anything.

Abe: I'm just digesting what you told me. And, Val, I really am sorry you and Billy aren't together anymore. But--

Valerie: But...what?

Abe: [Laughs] It really is none of my business, but--

Valerie: Abe, really. Just go on. Tell me what's on your mind.

Abe: As a romantic partner, I never thought Billy was good enough for you.

Valerie: Oh. Well... that's flattering, I suppose.

Abe: You're a very special person, Val. You are accomplished. You're caring. And you're smart as hell. And you have so much to offer.

Valerie: Well, thank you, Abe. So I guess that begs the question, what characteristics would a man have to have to be good enough for me?

Abe: Well...I think that man would have to be... a lot like me.

Bonnie: So, you're single and ready to mingle, right?

Philip: You do realize that's a missing person?

Bonnie: I don't give a damn who it is. All I do know is you're a real creep. You dumped my Mimi like garbage, and now you're sitting here waiting on a date.

Philip: Look, Bonnie, I did not dump your daughter. Look, I didn't even want to get involved with her. She pursued me. Relentlessly, I might add.

Bonnie: Oh, boy, way to flatter yourself, hot stuff.

Philip: Hmm. It's the truth. Look, she's attractive... and she's a lot of fun, but the truth is being with her wasn't good for me. You know, she got me back into some bad habits that I'm still paying the price for.

Bonnie: Oh. Oh. My daughter corrupted you? Please. You got tired and you ditched her, and now you're on the prowl again. So tell me, son, who's the unlucky girl?

Brady: I got some good news for you. I got some--no, I got some great news for you. Lani had her twins. Boy and a girl! Boy and a girl. And, uh, she texted me some photos so I can show you.

Kristen: Well, I've got a photo for you too, Brady. Is that or is that not you on New Year's Eve kissing Chloe Lane?

Valerie: [Laughs] As a matter of fact, yes, that's true. A man who would be worthy of me-- or maybe I should say compatible with me. Worthy of me sound so arrogant, right? But, yeah... that most compatible man would be a lot like you, Abe. There's no argument there.

Abe: Oh. I'm glad. And I do acknowledge that it is somewhat arrogant of me to suggest it-- and a bit presumptuous... but I do appreciate that you agree.

Valerie: I do. But, as we discussed a while back... that most compatible man would certainly at least have to live in a reasonably close zip code.

Abe: That's true. Can I be serious for a moment?

Valerie: Please do.

Abe: You have two grandchildren here in Salem, and I'm sure you want to see them as often as you can. And it does occur to me that, rather than fly in all of the time, you might decide to move back. And if that's the case... maybe we could give it another go.

Lani: I cannot wait to take our babies home.

Eli: Me too.

[Tense music]

Lani: But where are they? Eli, where are the twins?

Brady: Honey, that kiss didn't mean anything. That's a platonic kiss between two good friends.

Kristen: Mm-hmm. And it looks like you're having a real nice time with your friend. All dressed up out on the town at the DiMeras' New Year's Eve party.

Brady: Honey, I didn't even wanna go to the party, all right? I went to the office because I was gonna plan to work all night, and the only reason I asked Chloe to go--

Kristen: Wait, wait, wait. You went together? So you're telling me that you flew in your ex-wife from New York to be your date?

Brady: No, no, she's been in town for the last two weeks, okay, because she's starting her job at Basic Black.

Kristen: What, you hired her to be a worker with you?

Brady: No, no, stop. I didn't hire her. Nicole hired her.

Kristen: [Scoffs] And you're just now telling me?

Bonnie: Excuse me, but Casanova and I, we're in the middle of a private conversation.

Philip: I think we're done.

Chloe: And that's your cue, Bonnie; move along. Go ruin someone else's day.

Bonnie: Oh, you're back together with ghoul girl. That's just priceless. Honestly, I can't think of two people who deserve each other more.

Chloe: Okay. What was that all about?

Philip: Not worth getting into. But I'd be happy to talk about anything other than Bonnie.

Chloe: Okay, great. How 'bout we finish that conversation that we started? You know? The one about you laundering money for the mob.

Sarah: Do you think maybe you will be done by next New Year?

Xander: [Sighs] Wow. You look incredibly sexy.

Sarah: Oh. Thank you so much for finally noticing.

Xander: Sarah, I'm sorry I've been so distracted. I just know that somewhere in these files is proof that my entitled jerk of cousin has been embezzling money from Titan. I just didn't think it would take so long to find it.

Sarah: Yeah, no kidding. You've been staring at that screen all night instead of celebrating New Year's--

Xander: Sarah, I'm so close. I know it, I just-- I'm missing something.

Sarah: Well, that has everything that Philip's working on, right?

Xander: Yes. So where are his dirty dealings?

Sarah: Well...maybe if you just took a break and did some dirty dealings with me then you could look back at this with some fresh eyes and maybe find what you're looking for.

Xander: Oh, yeah, baby.

Sarah: Yeah?

Xander: I finally got this encrypted folder open. I think it's what I need to finally bust Philip.

Brady: I have a perfectly good reason, okay?

Kristen: Save it, Brady. Just save it. I know why you didn't tell me about Chloe. You didn't want to hurt my feelings. Thanks to that picture, I know everything. I know that it's over between us, and that you're moving on with her.

Brady: Stop--no. God, no.

Kristen: No? No?

Brady: No, Kristen, I went to the office last night because I was trying desperately not to think about you that night, all right? I thought I could bury myself in spreadsheets and budgets, and it didn't work.

Kristen: Right, so you went to a party with Chloe?

Brady: Yeah, as friends. And that didn't work either 'cause I sat at a table and I thought about you the whole night.

Kristen: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And then why, in all the times that you came to visit me these past few weeks, did you fail to mention not only is Chloe back in Salem, but that she works with you?

Brady: Because when I'm here, I wanna talk about you. I don't talk about anything else. I wanna know about you. I wanna know how you're feeling, what you need, how you're doing. I wanna tell you about our family and Rachel and what she's doing. All the magical little things that she is up to lately. That's what I want to talk about.

Kristen: I miss her. I miss her very much.

Brady: Baby... she misses you. We both miss you. And we both love you very much. Okay, Chloe-- Chloe is--she's a friend. She's a colleague. Nothing more.

Philip: Look, I told you to forget about what I said on New Year's Eve.

Chloe: It's kinda hard to forget about you laundering mob money through Titan to pay off gambling debt.

Philip: The situation is under control.

Chloe: Is it? What about Xander? You said that he thinks that you're up to something. If he exposes you, it could get you killed.

Philip: I was being overdramatic. No one's getting killed.

Chloe: Yeah, because the mob never does that.

Philip: Look, Xander is the world's biggest idiot. He might suspect something, but he couldn't prove anything, okay. Not without finding and being able to read incredibly sensitive and sophisticated financial documents.

Chloe: And you don't think he can do that?

Philip: I don't think that ape can count past ten without the help of his fingers and his feet.

Xander: Oh, damn. It's another-- it's another dead end. But if I want Philip gone and the CEO job all to myself I have to keep going, but I'm so tired. I can't keep my eyes straight.

Sarah: Well, that is because you are buried in your own filth, you disgusting monster.

Xander: Pardon?

Sarah: Baby, this is a pig pen. When was the last time you did laundry--

Xander: Laundry!

Sarah: Whoa! I wish you were that excited about me as you are dirty clothes.

Xander: No, Sarah, you don't understand. All this time I've been working under the assumption that Philip's been embezzling money from Titan.

Sarah: Okay...

Xander: I thought money was going out. It never occurred to me that Philip might be laundering money through Titan. That means extra cash would be going in. Sarah, darling, you're a genius.

Abe: I caught you off guard. I shouldn't have said anything.

Valerie: No, no, I'm glad that you did. It's just that... I should tell you I am seeing someone else.

Abe: Right, right. Ah. I feel-- I feel somewhat foolish.

Valerie: Why? No, no. You didn't know. And... and it's not like we're serious yet. And it's not like, when I see you, I don't have a whole lot of feelings because I do. I'm just so ensconced in my work in D.C. and if I were gonna move back here... oh, Abe. I think the world of you. And I cherish those memories of our time together...

Abe: I cherish those memories as well. And we'll have a whole lot more of them with our grandchildren.

Valerie: Yeah. We will. And I'm-- I'm certain that someday soon some woman will come along who I won't think is good enough for you.

Eli: I checked with the nurse in the nursery. She just started her shift so she's not sure where the twins are.

Lani: How does she not know? Isn't that her job?

Eli: Lani, she's on it, okay? She's checking the computers right now.

Lani: Well, then we need to ask someone else. Maybe a different nurse, a security guard--

Eli: Hey, hey-- Lani, Lani, listen to me. The babies are fine. There's no way that anyone can go in there and take one of them out or both of them out without authorization--

Lani: Okay, then where are they?

Eli: My mom and your dad, they both have authorization. They're on the visitors list. I'll call them right now.

Lani: Call them.

[Cell phone rings]

Valerie: Oh, hi, honey. How are the twins?

Eli: They're not with you?

Valerie: Well, no, of course not. Why would they be?

Eli: What about Abe?

Valerie: Oh, Abe's right here with me. We're at the pub picking up food for you and Lani. Eli, is something wrong?

Eli: The twins...they're not in the nursery.

Valerie: What? Are you saying your babies are missing?

Amanda: It's me. It's Dr. Raynor. I did what you asked. I have the Grant twins. No, no one questioned me at the hospital. They just assumed I was back on staff. Yes, I'll bring them to you now.

Bonnie: Wait!

[Dramatic music]

Xander: I've got it. Everything I need to nail Philip. All thanks to you.

Sarah: Yes. And your dirty laundry.

Xander: I'm serious, Sarah. God knows how long I would've been spinning my wheels, but once I knew what to look for... it was easy.

Sarah: And those numbers say that Philip is laundering money?

Xander: Not just any money-- mob money, which explains his connection to Ava Vitali.

Sarah: Mm. Can we prove it?

Xander: Yeah. These files are a smoking gun. And Philip's digital fingerprints are all over them.

Chloe: I think it's a mistake for you to underestimate Xander.

Philip: Chloe, I don't want you worried about this, okay? This is my problem, and I will solve it.

Chloe: I know, but you are my friend, and I wanna help you.

Philip: I'm touched by how much you care, I really am. But, like I said, for your own safety, I need you stay out of it. I meant what I said. I'd never be able to forgive myself if anything happened to you. And besides, this whole thing may be over.

Chloe: You're just saying that to get me to back off.

Philip: No, no, it's true. The person forcing me to do this... let's just say... she may no longer be in a position to demand my services.

Chloe: What does that mean?

Philip: I'd prefer to leave it at that.

Chloe: Oh, come on, Philip. You have to tell me who you're dealing with. Oh, my God, Ava Vitali? I mean, I heard that she was back in town but-- she's the one who's causing you all this trouble?

Philip: Yes. But Ava might be going through some problems of her own. And if that's the case, then I might just be in the clear.

Kristen: I'm sorry, Brady. But how am I supposed to feel when you are out there sharing an intimate moment with another woman when I am locked up in here?

Brady: There was nothing intimate about it. Kristen, it was New Year's Eve. It was a formality. Look at me. Please look at me. Honey, you are my life. You and Rachel are my life. And life is really hard right now. I don't like it. It's really hard. It's freaking hard. But every morning I still wake up with our little girl and we sit at the breakfast table and we do nothing but chitchat and wait for you. I don't wanna be with anyone else. I don't wanna kiss anyone else. I don't wanna do anything with anybody else. I certainly don't want to waste my limited time that I have with you on these visits defending myself.

Kristen: And you know what? You shouldn't have to. I'm just feeling so insecure.

Brady: I know.

Kristen: [Sobs]

Brady: I know. If I had you at home and we were in bed and we were wrapped in each other's arms, I could make you feel a lot less insecure. Pretty sure of that.

Kristen: I know, I know. It's not your fault that we're apart, and I don't want you to blame yourself.

Brady: I don't, I don't. I blame Eli and--

Kristen: And me.

Abe: Have you found the twins yet?

Lani: No.

Valerie: Hey, listen, listen, honey. In a hospital as big as this, communication glitches happen all the time. It's nerve-racking and heartbreaking, but things will get better. There's no need to panic.

Eli: I just talked to the head nurse.

Lani: What? What did she say?

Eli: Jules and Carver are unaccounted for.

Lani: Oh, my God.

Abe: I'm gonna go call Rafe. I'll be right back.

Lani: Oh, God.

Eli: The hospital is on lockdown. No one comes in and no one goes out.

Valerie: Right, right.

Lani: Wait, but what if somebody already took the babies out?

Valerie: No. No, that's not possible. No, no, sweetheart, not with all the security measures in place to protect newborns. Yes, there's a security check at every door, and there are surveillance cameras on elevators and in the corridors, and your babies are wearing bracelets that must be matched with yours or Eli's before anyone can leave this building. I promise you. Listen to me. I promise you there is no way anyone has left this building with your babies. It's not possible at all.

Lani: [Sobbing] Oh, my God.

Valerie: It's okay, baby. It's really okay.

Bonnie: You dropped this. Babies are always tossing things out of their carriages. It's like they're leaving a trail of breadcrumbs or something. Here.

Amanda: Oh, thanks.

Bonnie: You're welcome. O-m-G. Are those twins?

Eli: How do two babies go missing from a damn hospital? I swear to God, when I found out who's responsible for this, there's gonna be hell to pay.

Lani: No, no, no... no, no, no...

Eli: It's okay.

Lani: I cannot go through this again. God, I can't do this again. I really, really can't do this. No, please, don't let me lose my babies. Oh, my God. Oh, my God!

Abe: They're newborn twin babies. They're my grandchildren, so call me the minute you know anything. They put out an alert. The Salem PD has all available personnel out searching. The hospital security is checking every inch of this building. We're going to find them.

Eli: No question.

Valerie: Sweetheart, you just had a panic attack which is completely reasonable given the circumstances.

Lani: I need to--

Valerie: No, no, no, no, no. Lani, you've gotta get some rest.

Lani: Rest? Valerie, how am I supposed to rest when the children that I just gave birth to are missing?

Valerie: Because, because, when they find your children-- and they will--they're gonna need their mother.

Bonnie: Oh, my goodness, they are so precious. Is it two boys or two girls? Oh, wait, no, I see the hats. One pink and one blue. You have one of each, you lucky duck. Oh, my goodness. Oh, they are so tiny. Honey, your oven must still be warm after pushing out these two muffin tops. Oh, my goodness. Oh, I just can't get over their beautiful, sweet faces and their big eyes. Oh, honey, what's their names?

Kristen: I know that you're upset because I confessed to stabbing Victor, but I thought I made myself clear on why I did it.

Brady: You did it to protect Lani.

Kristen: Yes, I wanted her to have what your grandfather and Xander stole from us when they decided to switch the babies. And that horrible Dr. Raynor stole when she agreed to cover it all up.

Brady: What that woman did was--

Kristen: It was evil.

Brady: Yeah.

Kristen: It was evil, Brady. I mean, Xander and Victor I totally understand, but a doctor?

Xander: And that is how Philip's been using Titan to launder money for the mob.

Sarah: Mm. I literally have no idea what you just said. I don't speak finance.

Xander: Well, my uncle does. Victor knows all about dirty dealings.

Sarah: And you're still not worried that he's going to pick Philip's side over yours?

Xander: No matter how much my uncle loves his only son or how badly Victor wants to give Philip the benefit of the doubt, he can't. Not this time. 'Cause this time there's no denying what his son has done. Philip's put the company and the family at tremendous risk, Sarah. And this time he's going down.

Chloe: So you think that Ava's family is just gonna forget about the money that you owe them because she's missing?

Philip: Maybe. Hopefully. How about we shelf this conversation and I buy you a latte? [Cell phone rings] Excuse me a second. Philip Kiriakis.

[Tense music]

Philip: Guess I spoke too soon.

Chloe: Who was that?

Philip: Ava's cousin, Angelo Vitali. He says he's running the show in Ava's absence and he wants business to continue as usual.

Chloe: Oh, my God, Philip. You are in way over your head. You need to call the police.

Philip: I told you that's not an option. If I call the police and the Vitalis found out, they'd kill me.

Chloe: The cops can protect you.

Philip: No, they would put me in prison.

Chloe: You know that Victor would never allow that.

Philip: Are you kidding? Victor would push for a maximum sentence.

Chloe: Oh, God, well, there's gotta be another way out.

Philip: There is no other way out! I have to keep doing what I'm doing or else I wind up in prison or dead!

Brady: I'm sorry about what I said. I don't blame you. I just miss you so damn much.

Kristen: I miss you too. And I miss Rachel... [Sighs] Oh, God, Brady. My heart just aches for her.

Brady: I can't imagine what it's like for you right now to be in here and be away from her. And being away from me, that's gotta be...

Kristen: [Laughs]

Brady: Hard, right? There are two people, though, that you have got to meet. Ready? Ready for this?

Kristen: Uh-huh. [Laughs]

Brady: I present to you Carver Malcolm and Jules Harriot, and they were born on Christmas Day.

Kristen: Oh, my God, Brady, they're so beautiful. [Sighs]

Brady: I printed those out for you, so when you look at them, you can be reminded of the selfless and brave thing that you did. That you sacrificed your time with your family so that Lani could be with hers.

Kristen: You know what? I stand by my choice, but I should've never made it without you.

Brady: I'm not-- I don't want to look back. I wanna look forward. I wanna go forward. I wanna look into next New Year's Eve when I can be with you and that clock can strike midnight and I can kiss the one and only woman that I love. Okay?

Lani: Did you find them?

Eli: Not yet. But I got the hospital surveillance.

Lani: Well, play it. Hurry, Eli.

Eli: They were taken within the last hour so there's not much to watch.

Lani: Who would do this? Who would take our babies from us?

Eli: We're gonna find out.

Lani: I can't do this. I can't do this.

Eli: Hey, hey, hey, Lani. Look at me, look at me. Baby, you are gonna be an amazing mother. Right now, I need you to be a cop. I need you to help me find Carver and Jules so we can bring them back home. And then we'll deal with the monster that took them. Please.

Bonnie: Well, honey, don't be shy. What are their names?

[Baby crying]

Amanda: I really do have to go.

Bonnie: It's been so long since I held my grandbaby Emily. You know what, she quiets down the minute I pick her up. May I? Ooh, oh, oh, yeah. Oh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. [Chuckles] [Sighs]

Xander: I can't wait to watch Philip try and worm his way out of this one. Thank you, Sarah, for your brilliance and your patience.

Sarah: Mm-hmm. Just promise you're gonna get housekeeping in here. It's gross, babe.

Xander: Oh, you didn't have to make the bed.

Sarah: Well, it's not like anyone was in it, now were they? [Gasps]

Xander: I am now.

Sarah: Mm-hmm.

Xander: And I'm ready for some dirty dealings of my own. Care to join me?

Sarah: [Groans] Yes!

Chloe: Sooner or later, someone is gonna find out what you're up to you or the mob is gonna expect you to do more for them.

Philip: As long as I keep cleaning their cash, the Vitalis will be happy. The only one that suspects me of anything is that muscle bound moron Xander.

Brady: You're not harassing her again, are you?

Philip: Never, Brady.

Brady: No, it just seemed like you two were arguing or something. Just wondering what it was about.

Philip: No, we're not arguing. Just working out the rental agreement for Basic Black to use
Titan's warehouses. Isn't that right, Chloe?

Chloe: No, it's not right. Look, Philip is in serious trouble and we need your help.

[Dramatic music]

Kristen: Carver and Jules. I cannot wait to meet you. I may have a bit of an issue with your daddy, but... all I can say is that your mommy-- your mommy is the best mommy that any child could ever have, and she is gonna love you two to the moon and back again. And she's always gonna keep you so, so safe.

Eli: There's nothing on the security footage. It's like whoever did this knew how to avoid the cameras.

Lani: Eli, I need you to tell me that we are not gonna lose our babies.

Eli: Lani, look at me. Hey. I promise you. I swear to God, we are gonna do everything... everything we can to bring Carver and Jules home. I love you.

Abe: How is Lani?

Valerie: Physically she's fine, but she's scared out of her mind. And I'm hardly keeping it together myself. Please tell me you've found something.

Abe: Yeah, I did. It's not good. I found these in the stairwell. They were inside of the emergency exit door.

Valerie: Abe...

Amanda: I don't mean to be rude, but would you please give me my baby back?

Bonnie: Sorry. He's just so delicious. You know, I was overprotective in the beginning too, but believe you me, before long, you'll be handing off these munchkins to anyone who will take 'em. Good luck. You're gonna need it. [Laughs]
