Rafe: Just trying to put things together, okay? Zoom in on that footage. Try and see if she's got a key card in her hand. If there's a god, we'll be able to tell if it's authentic or not.

Gabi: There, there. She does have something in her hand!

Rafe: Go in closer.

Eli: I'll do what I can. It's out of focus, but there it is.

Rafe: It's too big to be a key card.

Gabi: Okay, well, then what is it?

Rafe: My god. It's the lid to the urn. It's been missing ever since andre's body was discovered.

Eli: Then it's--

Rafe: It's the missing piece to the murder weapon.

Gabi: Hey, look. I know this looks bad, but that-- that is not me. This is not good, rafe, right?

Rafe: It's pretty bad.

[Knock at door]

[Abe laughs]

Hope: Abe. You're back.

Abe: Yes.

[Groans] I just got in from cape town this morning.

Hope: How's theo? How's his treatment going?

Abe: It's very well. Very well. Except he was devastated by the news of his uncle's death. Anything new on that investigation? Oh, and can you tell me some more about hattie adams?

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Where do I even start? The short version: Well, as you know, she broke herself out of prison and tried to provoke anna into committing murder. But it's very possible hattie finished andre off herself.

Abe: Hmm. Or it could be someone else altogether.

Hope: Rafe and eli are reviewing the rest of the security footage as we speak.

Abe: This case is high profile, hope. I want as many officers put on it as you can spare. But if I can ask you one question...

Hope: Of course. Anything.

Abe: Can you keep my daughter out of this fire as much as possible?

Hope: Well, I planned on doing that anyway, knowing that lani's pregnant.

Abe: She told you?

Hope: Yes, she told me. Grandpa.

Abe: [Laughs] Yes.

Hope: Abe, congratulations. I'm thrilled for you. Aww. [Laughs] Wow, what a surprise.

Jj: Lani, are you okay? Talk to me. What's going on with you and valerie?

Valerie: The best course of action is for you to tell eli. But if you can't bring yourself to do that, I'm gonna have to tell him. One way or another, he's gonna find out. I'll give you 24 hours.

Eli: Gabi, you have to calm down, all right? All of this evidence is circumstantial.

Rafe: There's got to be some sort of logical explanation. Right?

Eli: We'll find out who the woman on this tape is.

Gabi: Okay, so what happens now? What, you're gonna arrest me?

Hope: Hey, guy-- hi. Hey, gabi. Hi, sweetheart. What a nice surprise. You look beautiful. Wait a minute. What's going on here?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Brady: Wow. You look fabulous.

Eve: Well, you don't look so bad yourself, there, mr. Black.

Brady: I hope I didn't oversell tonight. I mean, we're just going to the cafe at the horton square.

Eve: Oh, I think, uh... my expectations for tonight have been set appropriately,

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Eve: Just glad we have set the ground rules and made them clear. They're clear, right?

Brady: They are clear. They are clear. No more meaningless, no-strings incredible sex between us.

Eve: Right. So we understand each other, right? At least, I hope we do.

Brady: We--we do.

Eve: Okay.

Brady: We're good.

Eve: Good.

Brady: Shall we?

Eve: We shall. Thank you.

Brady: You're welcome.

Claire: Where's my apron?

Ciara: Um, you're wearing it.

Claire: [Sighs] Uh, okay, well, where's my purse?

Ciara: Probably by the door.

Tripp: Ladies! Roommates. New best friends.

Ciara: Don't push it.

Tripp: As a thank-you for cooking for me, tonight I repay the favor.

Claire: Oh, wow. That is really, really sweet of you, tripp, but I just got called in to cover someone's shift at the cafe.

Tripp: Oh, man, that sucks.

Ciara: Well, you and i still need to eat. You can make me dinner.

Tripp: Yeah, see? More for us.

Ciara: Yeah.

Tripp: Uh, oh, yeah. And these came for you. There you go. Finally something other than junk.

Ciara: What is this?

Claire: It's very fancy.

Ciara: It's an invitation to my mom and rafe's wedding.

Eli: [Sighs] We brought gabi in for questioning.

Hope: Why?

Rafe: Can I talk to you about this in your office, please?

Hope: Yeah, of course.

Gabi: Oh, my god. I can't believe this is happening. I ca--

Jj: Here.

Lani: Thank you.

Jj: Tell me what happened, lani. Why are you so upset?

Lani: Valerie and I were having a conversation about the baby.

Claire: I didn't even know they'd set a date for that.

Ciara: Oh, look. I have a plus one. Stellar. Assuming this thing even happens.

Claire: What is that supposed to mean?

Ciara: It means you never know around here. Hey, plus one. Wanna go? I'm paying. Well, my mom is.

Tripp: Uh, maybe, yeah. I don't really know your mom or rafe that well. But my dad and kayla will probably be there, so... yeah, why not?

Ciara: Oh. Too bad theo isn't gonna be here in time for this. Guess you'll have to sit all by your lonesome.

Claire: Oh, my god. Ciara, was that really necessary?

Ciara: What? It's true.

Tripp: Okay, guys. Remember the big truce? Okay? No more fighting. You know, you were doing really good. Let's keep that going.

Claire: Okay, you know, maybe I'll just leave. I think that'll help.

Ciara: [Scoffs] Geez. What's her problem? She got theo. She won the prize. I hope she's not having second thoughts now.

Abe: Oh, hey. I'm not late, am I?

Valerie: Oh, no, you're fine, babe. Did you get theo's treatment plan worked out with cameron?

Abe: Oh, yeah, yeah. He's all set.

Valerie: Oh, good.

Abe: Hey, you know, you were pretty upset earlier. You were going to talk to me about it before we were interrupted. What is it?

Jj: Is something wrong with the baby?

Lani: No. Uh... I'm just-- I'm upset with valerie because... she completely disregarded my wishes, told eli I'm pregnant.

Jj: Eli? But we've already told so many people-- theo, and your dad. Why would that make you so upset?

Eli: Gabi, think. All right, dimera is a big company. Maybe someone who works there looks like you or has a similar coat.

Gabi: With a key card-- my key card in their pocket?

Eli: Maybe someone took it by accident? Where exactly did you leave it?

Gabi: In the workroom on my coat. I mean, I ran out. After I spoke with andre, I was really upset, and I ran out without it.

Eli: It's not there.

Gabi: Yeah, because the woman on the tape probably has it now.

Eli: Gabi... it's february. It's freezing cold outside. Didn't you realize that you didn't have a coat on?

Gabi: I--I'm sorry. I can't believe this. You--you told me you believed me! Is that-- that was a lie.

Rafe: So... we saw gabi or what appeared to be gabi on the video footage, and so we brought her in just to be sure.

Hope: Okay, and?

Rafe: So when eli and i were going through the footage, we saw someone enter into andre's office and then leave andre's office, presumably right after he was killed. And, um... it appeared to be a woman. We couldn't see her face. But, uh... had the same hair and build and coat-- it looked like gabi.

Hope: Wait a minute. No. Hold on. But we know that gabi-- not wearing a coat at the time-- approached andre earlier and told him how angry she was about him stealing her company. And let's not forget we have anna going in after gabi left andre's office.

Rafe: Yes, exactly. And gabi swears she did not go back to andre's officE.

Hope: Okay, so do you believe her?

Rafe: Yes, I believe her. Yes. However, gabi's key card was swiped in the elevator just after that video was taken. But--okay, but once the system went down, swipes of any other cards they were not recorded. So we don't know if anyone went back in there and interacted with andre during that time.

Hope: And?

Rafe: And... okay, the worst part is, I zoomed in on some of the footage, and I discovered the... lid to the urn... the murder weapon... it was in this person's hand.

Hope: The woman whose description fits gabi's?

Rafe: Yes.

Hope: Since you're the one who brought gabi in for questioning, what do you think we should do? Friends, colleagues,

Brady: So you come here often?

Eve: Hardly eveR.

Brady: That was a-- that was a joke.

Eve: Oh.

[Laughs] Sorry.

Brady: Nah. It's no problem.

Eve: Well, I, uh... I guess our previous dates haven't involved much in the way of... conversation, have they?

Brady: No, no. And when we have had conversation, we usually use our words as weapons.

Eve: Mm, yeah.

Brady: So I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and I'm gonna start the conversation with something very safe. Uh, the weather.

Eve: Oh.

Brady: So here we go.

Eve: Okay.

Brady: Isn't it a beautiful night out tonight?

Eve: Well, it's a little chilly for my taste.

Brady: Well, it could be snowing, right?

Eve: Oh, I love snow.

Brady: You love snow. Okay, well, maybe we should go skiing sometime.

Eve: I don't ski. You know, I prefer to lounge away in a lodge and... well, there it is again. There's that activity that we--we ought not to talk about. So that kind of leads us back to right here.

Brady: Right here, yeah.

Brady: This is going great.

Eve: Come on, brady. We might as well face it. We have nothing to talk about. Have two people here. All we care about is our work. And... that activity that we've vowed that we are no longer doing or speaking of, so--

Brady: Well, you know, we have not vowed not to talk about work. Let's talk about work.

Eve: You are a hopeless romantic, aren't you?

Brady: Yeah, that's me.

Valerie: Um, it was a patient of mine. Bad news. And, um, it threw me for a bit. I can't go into the details about it, but it's taken a turn for the better, so we're all good.

Abe: Well, that's good to hear.

Valerie: Yeah.

Abe: Hey. Save the date. I just got an invitation to hope and rafe's wedding.

Valerie: Oh, how wonderful. Oh, I'm really happy for them.

Abe: Me too. Me too. It's a welcome change to be talking about weddings and babies after-- after the angst of the past few months.

Valerie: Yeah. It certainly is...

Abe: I have a confession to make.

Valerie: What?

Abe: I am rooting for you catch the bouquet.

[Laughter] Assuming that jj has put a ring on lani's finger by then.

Lani: There's nothing bad about eli knowing I'm pregnant. I don't know; I guess I'm just hormonal. And maybe just a bit overwhelmed by all of the unwanted attention, you know, that I've been getting.

Jj: What do you mean?

Lani: I mean... it just--it, uh... it amazes me that when people find out you're pregnant, they-- they treat your body like public property. They touch your belly. They ask you how much weight you've gained, are you gonna keep working, and blah, blah, blah... oh, yeah, don't forget to take your prenatal vitamins and make sure you breastfeed because that's the best.

Jj: Lani. Hey. I'm sorry.

Lani: Why are you sorry?

Jj: Because I know that I have been hovering a lot lately myself, and maybe going overboard with the attention?

Lani: It's okay coming from you. You're the...

Jj: What?

Lani: You're the man I love.

Jj: God, I hate that this is so hard on you. 'Cause you're the one that's working and carrying the child and dealing with all of the stress. And I'm basically doing nothing.

Lani: That's not true. Look how good you're doing with going to therapy and getting your life back together.

Jj: Having this baby with you has a lot to do with that. And when you told me about the baby, I realized how much I have to live for. And I want you to know that I talked to kayla about getting started in the emt program at the hospital, and she said she'd give me a recommendation. And I was thinking that maybe if I asked valerie too--

Lani: No.

Eli: Gabi, of course I still believe you, but I need to prepare you for some of the questions that they're gonna ask you. All right, you have to be ready.

Gabi: Okay. You're right. I didn't go back to the workroom because it was a crime scene, okay? I didn't go back to get my coat because I'd been wearing another one. I didn't even realize it was missing. Is that a good response?

Eli: Yeah. Listen. I need you to know that I will always have your back. And so will rafe.

Gabi: Thank you. You--you didn't tell hope you brought me in here because you don't think she'd be on my side, do you?

Rafe: Well, hey, you're the commish, right? The next move with gabi should be your call.

Hope: I don't understand why you and eli kept me in the dark when you brought gabi in for questioning. Why did you do that?

Rafe: Because she's been through a lot, okay? Eli and I thought that-- we--we hoped she would have a simple explanation and it would just amount to nothing.

Hope: But it didn'T.

Rafe: No, it didn'T. But, hope, that's not her on the tape, all right? It's not.

Hope: I pray to god that you're right.

Rafe: Oh, yeah.

Hope: I know you're trying to protect your family. I understand that. Rafe! Oh, god. You were suspended once before for covering for gabi. I think, given the evidence we have at this point, I know-- I don't think we have a choice. I think we have to book her on suspicion of murder.

Eve: I really put everything into my work.

Brady: Same here. You reap what you sow.

Eve: Exactly. I gotta tell you, when I lost gabi chic to dimera, it burned me. Oh. You know, I don't even think I'm over it yet. But I warned-- I really warned gabi that andre was gonna screw her over. She didn't listen to me. Now it's too late to do anything about it. I just wish I could find some way to attract young, female clientele. I think that would be great. But... figure out something.

Brady: I know we can find--

Claire: Hi, guys.

Eve: Hi!

Claire: Hello, how are you?

Brady: Hi, claire. How're you doing, sweetheart?

Claire: Hi, I'm doing good.

Brady: Nice to see you.

Claire: Good to see you. Eve, it's good to see you again.

Eve: Hi, gorgeous. Good to see you.

Claire: My god.

Eve: Now, are you working on your music still? Are you doing your warmups, your practicing?

Claire: Oh, I mean, I wish. I don't know. My career has kind of fallen by the wayside lately. Just a lot of other stuff going on.

Eve: Honey. You're so talented. Please, don't give it up.

Claire: Well, thank you. Um... so are you and my uncle, like... dating now?

Both: No, no, no.

Eve: We're just...

Brady: We're getting to know each other better.

Eve: Enjoying each other's company.

Claire: Right. Totally. That's a good idea.

All: Yeah, yeah.

Brady: Always is.

Eve: Yeah, you know what? I was thinking. You're part of a demographic that titan is having a really tough time reaching right now, and kind of wondering what product would interest you?

Claire: Um... a time machine, definitely. Yeah, my boyfriend and I are in the ultimate long-distance relationship. It's gonna be a long year. Anyway, sorry. Uh, table four needs drinks. But I will be right back.

Eve: Okay. Poor girl. She probably thinks that she's the only person in the world right now that's alone.

Brady: Hmm. There really is a heart in there. Hmm.

Eve: If you look hard enough.

Tripp: Hey, do you want a salad? With extra worms?

Ciara: Hmm? Yeah, sounds good.

Tripp: Okay, ciara? Are you okay?

Ciara: Yeah. Sort of.

Tripp: Sort of?

Ciara: [Sighs] It's just... I knew that my mom and rafe were getting married, but now that there's an actual date, and...

Tripp: So you're worried about your mom? That if rafe cheated before, he could do it again?

Ciara: Yeah. I am kinda worried about that, and her not knowing.

Tripp: All right, but you decided that she shouldn't know. That it would only hurt her.

Ciara: And it would. Hurt her badly. And destroy her relationship with rafe, but still...

Tripp: Still what? Ciara... ciara, are you having second thoughts about telling your mom about rafe and sami?

Eli: I don't know what hope is gonna do. But I know it would be a lot easier if we had an alibi.

Gabi: I already told you. I was alone, okay? After I left andre's office, I was very upset. So I went for a drive to clear my head. Then I went home and I went to bed.

Eli: What about ari?

Gabi: What, you're gonna-- you really think an alibi from a four-year-old's gonna help me? And she was with sonny that night anyway.

Eli: Yeah, sorry.

Gabi: Eli, I know. I know how bad this looks. But I did not go back to that office. I've never even seen that urn or that lid before in my life.

Eli: Well, whoever that is on the tape, we're probably looking at our murderer. Hey! You wearing guacamole!

Eve: What?

Brady: Think about it. "Bella" magazine. It was really popular back in the day. It was named after my mother.

Eve: Really?

Brady: Yes. And the only reason it was shelved was because the last editor resigned. But we could--we could re-launch it. We could bring it back. We could put it online first. We could use it to promote all of our products. Oh, my god. We could get a lot of eyes on this, quickly.

Eve: That's genius, brady!

Brady: And that's the first time anyone's ever said that to me, so thank you for the genius remark.

Eve: I bet.

Brady: We'd have to do a total image overhaul.

Eve: No, and it's just a hook to get people interested.

Brady: All right, now it's just coming to me.

Eve: Good!

Brady: This is perfect. No. [Stammers] There was a contest back in the day called, uh... "face of the '90s."

Eve: Oh, gosh. Yes, I remember that. We can just redo it. We'll just get a fresh, young face-- fresh face of "bella" magazine.

Brady: Oh, my god--

Claire: Okay, well, um, I was just gonna ask if you guys wanted refills, but did I hear someone say "fresh, young face"?

Brady: Yes, you did. Cla--hi! You know what? You know what? I think you should consider signing up for this contest. You should--you should enter. It's gonna be the new face of "bella" magazine.

Claire: Okay, well, maybe I will. Thank you for the tip.

Brady: You're welcome.

Claire: Your food should be right up.

Brady: Thank you.

Eve: I--I--listen. I don't know if that's such a good idea to get her hopes up like that. We don't know if she's gonna be the one.

Brady: You don't understand.

Eve: What?

Brady: Her aunt carrie was "the face of the '90s" back in the day. It's perfect. She's talented. She's beautiful. You said it yourself. Hey, she has just as good of a shot as anybody else, right?

Eve: Are we really gonna do this? We're gonna launch a magazine?

Brady: Why the hell not?

Eve: Why the hell not? There you go, young man.

Valerie: You know, lani is a grown woman. You know, and I just wouldn't want you putting pressure on her. She's been through a lot. This pregnancy is a really huge surprise.

Abe: I understand that.

Valerie: Yeah, and she and jj only just got back together, so how-- how do they even know they can make it through the long haul?

Abe: [Laughs] Wait--wait a second here. Before you were telling me that I needed to be more supportive of their relationship. And then now you're saying I shouldn't be excited for them? Which is it?

Valerie: No, no, I-- I'm just thinking maybe... maybe we should just let them lead their own lives.

Abe: You know, if this was your grandchild we were talking about, I, uh... well, I--I-- I'd bet that you would change your tune.

Valerie: I bet I wouldn'T.

Jj: Why wouldn't i ask valerie?

Lani: I just--I don't want you to think that you have to rush into a job because of me or the baby.

Jj: That is not the reason why I want to be an emt. Why do you get so tense every time I mention valerie? I thought you two got along.

Lani: Valerie's just, uh... she's full of unsolicited advice these days.

Jj: Well, I think you better get used to it then. I mean, if abe and valerie ever get married, she's the kid's grandma. Unsolicited advice is kind of in their job description.

Lani: Yeah, if she and my dad get married. I gotta go. I'm late for work. I'll see you later?

Jj: Yeah.

Eli: I really should have told you to get a lawyer at the start of this.

Gabi: Why?

Eli: Because I'm gonna have to testify in court to anything that you've told me. I mean, not that you've incriminated yourself but-- gabi, I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure that you are innocent. But I do think, to be safe, you should find representation as soon as possible.

Gabi: Oh my god. You think I'm going to prison, don't you? Oh, my god, I'm gonna be separated from ari!

Eli: I didn't say that, all right?

Gabi: Everything was going fine. Stefan was gonna get me back on track with the board at dimera... and now I don't even care about my company. I just care about ari and my family and the people that I love. I can't go back to prison, okay? I can'T. I can'T. Okay, eli, I can'T. What's going on? These women have

Brady: Oh.

Eve: [Gasps] Now, where did this come from? Hmm?

Brady: Just magic.

Eve: [Laughs]

Claire: Or the flower cart that's right over there. Well...

Eve: Maybe you are a romantic after all? This is beautiful. Can't remember the last time a man gave me a flower.

Brady: Really?

Eve: Kind of given up on the idea of ever falling in love again. You know, I don't know what your game is, brady, but tonight was quite lovely.

Brady: What makes you think I'm playing a game?

Eve: Because you always do.

Brady: You're saying that because you always do.

Eve: Whatever. Shall we go home?

Brady: Yes.

[Clears throat]

Ciara: It's not that rafe doesn't love my mom. I know he does. It's just I can't help but think about what happened the last time she got married, you know? Aiden destroyed us. He tore our family apart.

Tripp: Yeah, but that's not gonna happen this time.

Ciara: I know that rafe regrets what he did. I believe that-- and I take back what i said before. I know that he would never cheat on my mom again. He'd better not.

Gabi: You're gonna-- you're gonna charge me with murder, aren't you?

Hope: We have to book you on suspicion of murder, gabi.

Gabi: What, uh... what exactly does that mean?

Rafe: It just means that we have 48 hours to either charge or release you.

Hope: And until then, gabi, I'm sorry. You're gonna have to spend the night here.

Feel the power of

theraflu expressmax.

Brady: Well... good night, eve.

Eve: I'll see you tomorrow.

Brady: You know, I don't want to push my luck or anything, but... I think we should probably do this again.

Eve: Maybe.

Brady: [Sighs]

Gabi: Okay. I need to go pick up arianna tonight from sonny'S. What's gonna happen with her?

Rafe: Don't worry. Don't worry about that, okay? I'll handle arianna.

Eli: You have to remember, you are not the only suspect here, okay?

Rafe: Gabi. Gabi, we'll prove your innocence. That's who we are. I mean, I need you out, because you're gonna speak at our wedding, okay? Please--no, I'm serious. I'm not cuffing her.

Hope: I'll have someone else bring her downstairs.

Eli: That's fine. I'll do it. I got you.

Rafe: Thanks for giving her some extra time.

Hope: She's lucky to have you. There's no one better you'd ever want on your side than you, rafe.

Tripp: Well, thank you for saving the mashed potatoes.

Ciara: No problem. You know, the trick is to actually mash the potatoes.

Tripp: I did!

Ciara: Not enough. Lots of lumps.

Tripp: Ah. Right.

Ciara: It's okay. So you gonna make that same dinner for claire?

Tripp: I'll see. You know, I'll definitely mash the potatoes up if I do.

[Both chuckle] I'll probably get her, like, some ice cream too or something. Sorry; I forgot about dessert, by the way.

Ciara: Ah, the great unrequited love. How is that whole distraction strategy working out for you, by the way?

Tripp: It's going probably about as well as it is working for you, you know, getting over theo.

Ciara: Well, I do think it's getting a little bit easier every day. Like this morning, I didn't see theo's amazingly handsome face beaming up at me from my cereal bowl.

Tripp: Progress.

Ciara: Major.

Tripp: [Laughs]

Ciara: And, um... you know, I'm really glad I have you to confide in about all this: My theo obsession and mom and rafe.

Tripp: I'm glad too. It's good to have a roommate who's also a friend.

Ciara: Yeah, I agree. And you know, I can't believe that I told you that huge secret about rafe cheating on my mom and you didn't breathe a word about it. Okay, but seriously, you really can never tell anyone, all right? Especially claire. She can never keep her mouth shut.

Abe: Hey, jj!

Jj: Hey, abe, valerie.

Valerie: Hi. Hi, jj.

Jj: Listen, um... I'm actually really glad that I ran into you. I wanted to ask you something.

Abe: Yeah, go ahead.

Jj: I got rafe and hope's wedding invitation in the mail today, and, uh, it got me thinking. I know that lani's been really stressed out lately, and I want her to know that no matter what, I'm not going anywhere.

Abe: Well, that's good to hear.

Jj: Thank you. And... I want to do this right, so... I am asking for your blessing to ask lani to marry me.

Lani: Hey, I'm glad I found you.

Eli: Hey, I'm sorry, but this is not a good time.

Lani: I need to talk to you, alone.

Eli: Like I said, this isn't a good time.

Lani: There's never gonna be a good time for me to tell you this, okay? So I'm just gonna get it over with. This baby that I'm having? I lied. It's not jj's, eli. It's yours.
