Provided By Suzanne
[Sniffles] Uh, she just--she jumped in front of that car, and she just pushed me out of the way.
André: Because she loves you. Despite what has happened... she loves you. And you love her. Don't you?
Chad: [Clears throat]
Gabi: It's Abigail. She's out of surgery.
Gabi: No, you're--you're not going anywhere, André.
André: [Laughs] Excuse me?
Gabi: Not until you tell me what you just said to Chad.
[Indistinct chatter on TV]
Nicole: I love that you are into old movies. There are not a lot of guys who would watch "an affair to remember" over "x-men."
Nicole: I don't like keeping things from Brady. But I see no reason for him to know about what happened between Eric and me.
Brady: Mm, you know what?
[TV shuts off]
Nicole: What are you doing?
Brady: I just--I'm-- you know what? I'm not in the mood for a movie right now. I'm not. I'm trying, but I'm not.
Nicole: Well... is everything okay?
Brady: Yeah. It's just--it's-- I've been working so hard over at titan and dealing with Sonny's issues that I-I feel like-- feel like I haven't seen you in a while.
Nicole: I know. I miss you.
Brady: I miss you too. I don't want to watch a movie. I just want to talk to you. Can we just talk?
Nicole: Sure. What do you want to talk about?
Brady: I don't know. I want to know about your-- your world. I mean, tell me about the-- the community service. How's it going?
Nicole: Fine. No problems.
Brady: That's good.
Nicole: What? What are you thinking?
Brady: No, no, I'm-- well, you know, when you originally got the news that you were working at the Horton center with Eric, you were completely opposed to it, and now it seems it's-- you know, it's not so difficult for you to do. I mean, are you two-- are you getting along?
Steve: Hey. Got some good news, Joe. Your mom got her job back.
Joey: For real?
Steve: Yeah. She's back at work as we speak.
Joey: Oh, that's amazing! That's such good news. Mom's probably so relieved.
Steve: Yeah, she's pretty happy.
Joey: How come you don't seem too happy?
Steve: Of course I'm happy for your mom. Hey, listen, I just stopped, uh, across the hall there, looking for Tripp. You have any idea where he might be?
Tripp: Thanks for coming, Angelo.
Angelo: Anything for Ava's boy. You okay? Sounded a little, um, uptight on the phone.
Tripp: It's about my mom. I think I know who really killed her.
Angelo: What are you talking about? It was Steve Johnson.
Tripp: No. It wasn't Steve. It was his wife, Kayla. Now it looks like she's going to totally get away with it.
Kayla: [Clears throat]
Jennifer: Kayla. Please tell us it's good news.
Chad: Well? How is--how is she? How's Abby?
Gabi: Tell me, what was so important that it couldn't wait? I mean, it must have been something. Made him upset.
André: If Chad's upset, it's because the mother of his child is fighting for her life. And because of your brother, Abigail was thrown into harm's way and gravely injured. So let's hope she's able to pull through.
[Soft dramatic music]
Kayla: Abigail made it through the surgery.
Jennifer: Oh, thank you. Thank you, lord.
Chad: And--and what? Is there anything else? What--
Kayla: Well, she's stable for now, but she's still in critical condition. We did what we could to address her internal injuries, but they were extensive. She's lost a lot of blood. So we are just gonna have to wait and see. Time will tell. We need to pray for the best.
Nicole: Well, my community service is hardly a scintillating subject, but, um... I answer the phones, I file things, I keep my head down, and... I go home.
Brady: So working with Eric, it's not as difficult as you thought it was.
Nicole: This isn't about Eric. This is about holly. I am doing this for her and to prove to judge Thorpe that I'm a responsible person, that I can offer my daughter a stable and healthy environment.
Brady: I see-- I see how hard you're working. I see how much you want holly home, and... honestly, I don't think there's a judge in the world that would deny you custody. I think holly will be home soon.
Nicole: Thank you for believing in me and for trusting me.
Brady: Of course I do.
Nicole: Well... sometimes, Brady, I'm not-- I'm not so sure you do.
Brady: What are you-- Nic, I trust you with--
Nicole: No, okay, just listen to me. Okay, please? I don't know how many times I can say this. But what happened between Eric and me at the party, it meant nothing, okay?
Nicole: It'll never happen again, I promise. So... can we please just watch the movie and have some popcorn?
Brady: Popcorn, movie.
[Cell phone beeps]
Brady: Phone. I have a phone conference with the shareholders in Singapore. I completely forgot about it. I'm sorry. This is gonna take a while. Ugh, okay. But you go ahead. Go ahead with the movie.
Nicole: Okay. I mean, it's only the most romantic movie of all time. So I'll just sit here and watch it alone, cuddled up with this very sexy throw pillow.
Eric: This is Eric. Please leave a message.
Joey: I haven't seen Tripp since this morning. He might be at the hospital. You want me to call him?
Steve: Oh, no, no, that's okay. I'm sure I'll bump into him sooner or later.
Joey: Hey, I got some extra Thai in the fridge. You want some?
Steve: Sure, yeah. That'd be good. I, um-- I swung by the pub tonight. I saw roman. He told me you guys had a talk about Ava.
Joey: Oh, uh... yeah, we did. Sorry. I know you don't want me talking about it. It's just, I figured uncle roman knows what happened, so...
Steve: Yeah, you don't have to apologize. I understand that you feel guilty. But, Joe, you got to stop being so hard on yourself.
Joey: I know. You and mom keep telling me that. And I'm trying, but... I'm getting to know Tripp, and he's more than just a brother. He's my friend. And...his mom is dead because of me. Because of me, dad.
Joey: I'm starting to think I'm never gonna be able to forgive myself for what I did.
Angelo: What do you mean... It was Kayla?
Tripp: I read this police report, okay, and apparently my mom once accused Kayla of trying to kill her. Here's the real kicker. This friend of mine, jade... she basically backed the whole thing up, flat out said that it was Kayla who did it.
Angelo: And you believe this girl?
Tripp: Yeah. Yeah, totally. She used to be really tight with the Johnsons, even lived with them for a while. Crazy, right? This whole time, we thought it was my dad.
Angelo: You know, as much as I despise that SOB. Steve Johnson, you might be onto something here, kid.
Jennifer: When-- when can we see her?
Kayla: Soon. They're moving her to a room right now. But just one visitor at a time, all right?
JJ: Mom, you should go first.
Kayla: She's gonna be unconscious, but she'll know you're there.
Jennifer: Thank you so much, Kayla.
Gabi: How's Abigail? What's going on?
JJ: She made it through surgery, but it's still critical.
Chad: It's all my fault. After everything she's done for me.
Gabi: Chad, what did she do?
Chad: I got to--I got to make this right. I'm sorry. Excuse me.
Jennifer: Hi, baby.
I was just... I was just thinking about a year ago when I thought I lost you. My heart was... it was crushed, and... then I got you back. And I was able to pick up the pieces, and I just can't even tell you how grateful, forever grateful I am to have my precious girl back. Oh, hey, I brought you something. So when you open your eyes, you can look at this little face right there. I just can't even begin to tell you how many people need you right now-- JJ and Thomas and... Chad, Julie. I mean, the list just goes-- goes on and on. [Sighs] But honestly, selfishly, baby, I need you. I need you to stay with me, please. I can't do it. I can't-- I can't even... I can't even take it if I lose you. Please.
Joey: Whenever I see Tripp, all I can think about is what I did to his mom and how different his life would be if I hadn't screwed it up.
Steve: Let me tell you something, Joe. Even if Ava had lived, it's not like Tripp would have had an idyllic relationship with his mother. Probably the opposite. You know how crazy she was. So you have got to stop torturing yourself like this.
Joey: Tripp is such a good guy. He deserves so much better.
Angelo: So you made it look like Kayla was the one who wrote the wrong dosage?
Tripp: Yeah, yeah, and they were this close to firing her too, but they just couldn't pull the trigger.
Angelo: You mean they let her off the hook?
Tripp: I'm telling you, this woman could bring an ak-47 into that hospital and they wouldn't even bat an eye. I can't do this. I can't do this anymore.
Angelo: What are you talking about, you can't do this?
Tripp: I give up, okay? Kayla Johnson killed my mom, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it.
Angelo: Now, you listen to me, boy, and you listen good. You're a Vitali. We don't capitulate. You hear me? What would your mother think if she heard you talkin' like this? I mean, do you think she gave up when things got tough? That's when you fight harder. When someone goes after the family... you fire the hell back.
Brady: Nic, good news. Call was cut short, so I am all... yours.
[Knock at door]
Eric: Nicole. Why are you deleting these photos?
[Soft dramatic music]
Nicole: Can you shut the door?
Eric: What's going on?
Nicole: Why didn't you answer your phone?
Eric: I was reading. I turned my phone off. You okay? Is something wrong?
Nicole: I was thinking about...what happened the other day. About the letters you wrote and...Daniel and--
Eric: You changed your mind, didn't you? About forgiving me.
JJ: Hey, mom. I can come back another time if you--
Jennifer: It's okay. I need to make some calls anyway.
JJ: Hey, abs. You gave us quite the scare, you know that? Brought company, I see. You know, I've always-- I've always loved this picture of Thomas. Those cheeks. Kind of looks like me when I was a kid, don't you think? Yeah, might be a little bit cuter, though. Do you remember when we were little, how scared I was of thunderstorms? And I would always build one of those forts out of my bedsheets 'cause I was convinced it'd give me an extra layer of protection. I must've seen that in a cartoon or something. But... I remember this one really bad storm. You were having a slumber party at the house. And the rain was coming down and--and that thunder and the lightning... I could've sworn the house was gonna get hit, so... I ran under my blanket fort, just bracing for the worst. Then my brave older sister came in. I mean, here you were, in the middle of your slumber party... but you were worried about me. So you climbed into my fort, and...you took my hand, just like this, and you said that if I-- if I held on tight, the storm will pass and everything would be okay. Well, I'm holding your hand now... 'cause maybe you're afraid. Abs, if you can hear me, I promise you, this storm will pass, and you'll be okay. You have to be.
Gabi: Look, it's gonna be a while before we can see Abigail, so we have plenty of time to talk.
André: I haven't much more to say right now, so excuse me.
Chad: Okay, he's having trouble sleeping? All right, I was worried this was gonna happen. Um... all right, just, um-- why don't you just put me on speaker so he can hear his daddy's voice for a second? Hey, honey. No, I know. Mommy and daddy are gonna be home soon, okay? We love you. We miss you. Okay, all right. Bye-bye. Yeah, thank you.
André: You and I need to finish our conversation.
Steve: Joe... I know that seeing Tripp is a constant reminder of what happened with Ava. But punishing yourself, letting it eat away at you... it doesn't change anything. It doesn't help anything. Now, I know I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating. What you did, you did to save your family. That's how you saw it. And for good reason. Now, it may not have been self-defense in the moment... but it really was self-defense. Because you weren't just protecting yourself. You were protecting me and your mom. Please, Joe. Hey, try to see it that way again. You are a good person with so much potential. Don't squander it on guilt and regret.
Angelo: Look, I know you're hurting right now. This is the hand you were dealt. You got to play it.
Tripp: What am I supposed to do? My takedown of Kayla bombed.
Angelo: Maybe you need a less subtle, more... conventional approach to getting your revenge.
Tripp: What do you mean?
Changed my mind. In fact, I-I feel at peace now that I've forgiven you. I just...
Nicole: It's Brady. I don't want him to know.
Eric: I don't understand.
Nicole: I'm trying to protect him. When I told him what happened between us after the party, he was angry. You know that. And it doesn't matter how many times I've told him that the kiss meant nothing.
Eric: You think he still has doubts. So, what, you're not gonna tell him, what, forever?
Nicole: Of course not. When the timing is right, I'll tell him.
Eric: And you think this is a good idea, Nicole?
Nicole: If Brady knows that I've forgiven you, his mind is gonna go places. And the last thing we need is for Brady to think that something's going on between us.
Tripp: I could never kill anybody, Angelo.
Angelo: You just said your plan didn't work. Maybe it's time for a new plan. This gun can't be traced. So take it. You never know when you might need it. Look, kid, these people, they got no problem eliminating anyone who gets in their way. You've got to take control. Get rid of them before they find out you crossed them, before they figure out you're a threat.
Joey: Hey, you sure you don't want some of this cake?
Steve: Oh, no, no. It's all yours, buddy.
[TV clicks on]
[Cheers and applause on TV] Hey, would you mind turning that off for a second?
[Sports commentator speaking indistinctly on TV]
Joey: Sure. What's up?
Steve: I, uh-- I got to talk to you about something else. I want you to keep an open mind, okay?
Steve: The reason I was looking for your brother was--
[Cell phone ringing]
Steve: Sorry. Hey, sweetness. You on your way home?
Kayla: No. Actually, I'm still at the hospital. There's been an accident. Abigail.
Steve: What happened?
Kayla: She was hit by a car. She's out of surgery, but she's in critical condition.
Steve: Oh, no.
Kayla: Yeah. Listen, I'm--I'm gonna stay at the hospital tonight, okay?
Steve: Okay. You need me to come there?
Kayla: No. No, not now. Maybe later. I love you.
Steve: I love you too.
Joey: What's wrong?
Steve: It's your cousin Abigail. She was hit by a car. It's serious. [Sighs]
Chad: What the hell is so important, all right? I need--I need--
André: No, I understand. You want to see Abigail. But this is extremely important. You can't turn yourself in for Deimos' murder!
Chad: I can, and I will. I'm not gonna let Sonny take the rap for something I did.
André: Oh, for god's sake! You don't even know that you did it!
Chad: Then why are you trying so hard to cover everything up?
André: Listen to me. Your son may very well lose his mother tonight. Do you want him to lose his father too?
Chad: Someday my son will know the difference between right and wrong. And when he does, he's gonna know that his father did what was right, no matter how hard. When Abby wakes up, I will go turn myself in for the murder of Deimos Kiriakis.
She's nationally recognized
Joey: It's crazy how things can change in just a heartbeat.
Steve: I know. But Abigail's in good hands. If anyone can pull her through this, it's your mom.
Joey: She's the best.
Steve: That she is. It's a damn good thing they reinstated her when they did, for Abigail's sake.
Joey: What happened with that anyway? Were we right? Did someone set her up?
Angelo: Come on, Tripp. I mean, you really think getting Kayla fired from her job is payback for murdering your mother? That woman, she took an oath to save lives. An oath! But did that stop her from putting a pillow over your poor mother's face and smothering her to death?
Tripp: Stop! Please, just stop. If I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it my way.
Angelo: Where you going?
Tripp: Hospital. I'm going to make Kayla Johnson confess.
Kayla: How you holding up?
Jennifer: I'm good. Just making some calls. I talked to Julie. I called my mom. And I think the rest are gonna have to wait till tomorrow.
Kayla: I'm so sorry.
Jennifer: You have got to be exhausted. You should go home.
Kayla: No. I am not going home. But it has been a long day, so I think I'll go rest in the on-call room. But Dr. Shah is here on duty, and I told him to page me if anything happens with Abigail, okay? Okay. I'll be just down the hall. Hang in there.
Jennifer: Thank you so much, Kayla.
Jennifer: Thank you.
Chad: Anything change?
Gabi: Is there anything I can do to help, Chad?
Chad: No, I'm just glad that you're here.
JJ: Hey, uh, I think I'm gonna go for a walk.
Lani: I was thinking about doing the same thing. How about some company?
Chad: Would, uh--would you mind if I, uh, go in?
Jennifer: No, no, of course not.
André: I'd like to have a word with you in private.
Nicole: Obviously nothing could ever happen between us. I love Brady. He's the man I want to spend the rest of my life with.
Eric: Let me share this with you. "For there is nothing covered that is not revealed, neither hid that shall not be known."
Nicole: I didn't come here for a Sunday school lesson. You asked me for forgiveness, and I'm asking you for a favor. What, you're not gonna do this for me?
Eric: I want you to open-- open your heart and your mind to Brady. You'll realize that you have nothing to hide.
Nicole: I can't. I can't do that. And please don't try to change my mind.
Eric: I respect your decision.
Nicole: So you're not gonna mention this to Brady?
Eric: I'm gonna keep your forgiveness and this meeting in confidence.
Nicole: Thank you. Um, I should get going. Brady doesn't even know I left. Okay, and just remember, this is our little secret.
Eric: Brady will hear nothing from me.
[Soft dramatic music]
Brady: I thought we were... gonna finish the movie. Where were you?
Lani: Thank you. Hope and Rafe are following up on a lead. Evidently someone matching Dario's description was spotted at the train station. Hey, this could be what we're waiting for.
JJ: You know what? I swear to God, when we do find out who did this to her, I'm gonna make them pay for it.
Gabi: Okay, just-- André, stop. Will you tell me what the hell's going on?
André: I think you were right. I did say something to Chad that I think upset him. And now I think my brother's gonna make the biggest mistake of his life.
Gabi: What are you talking about?
André: It appears that Sonny was not the one who killed Deimos Kiriakis. It was Chad.
Eric: Jennifer. I just heard. I'm so sorry.
Tripp: Hey, mia, have you seen Dr. Johnson?
Mia: Yeah, she's pulling an all-nighter. Taking a nap in the, um, on-call room.
Joey: It's true, isn't it? Someone set her up. Well, come on, tell me. Who was it?
Steve: Your brother. I think Tripp wants to hurt your mom.
Angelo: But did that stop her from putting a pillow over your poor mother's face and smothering her to death?
Tripp: Stop! Please.
