[Cell phone beeps]

Paul: I think I might have something.

Sonny: Did Deimos charter a plane?

Paul: Maybe, maybe not. See I talked to a guy at this charter place, and he wasn't being very forthcoming. He didn't say no, but he didn't hang up. He just kept hinting that he might know something.

Sonny: He also kept hinting he wanted some incentive?

Paul: Yeah, exactly.

Sonny: Where is this place?

Paul: Well, it's not too far from here. Just off country road L.

Sonny: All right, I'll grab the money, then we'll head over.

Paul: No, you stay here. I'll go get it.

Sonny: No.

Paul: Sonny, isn't that why you hired me and Steve in the first place? To do the leg work? What if Deimos finds out you've been asking questions, bribing charter owners? You can't antagonize him any more than you already have. I mean, eventually, Deimos is gonna find out what you're up to, but until then, just leave it to me.

Sonny: I'll get you the money.

Paul: Okay.

Sonny: But you need to be careful yourself.

Paul: No, I got this. I'll be okay. And together, we'll both get Deimos.

[Soft music]

Brady: Mm, hi.

Nicole: Hi. Brady, you know... I meant what I said. I think we are starting something great here. I mean, I have a baby now. Me.

Brady: Yes, you do.

Nicole: Yes. And now I have you and Tate. Everything is perfect.

Brady: They call that heaven on earth.

Nicole: [Laughs softly] I love that.

Brady: Yeah, I know.

Nicole: It's nice and cheesy.

[Both laugh]

Brady: That's the way I like it.

[Suspenseful music]

Brady: [Scoffs]

[Musical electronic beeping]

Brady: What?

[Musical electronic beeping]

Nicole: What was that?

Joey: Hey.

Jade: Hi.

Joey: How's the move going?

Jade: Kinda slow. But don't worry. Everything'll be out by tonight.

Joey: No worries. There's no rush.

Jade: Yeah, there is a rush. I mean, I don't wanna be cluttering up your place anymore. I know I took up way too much drawer space, closet space. Not to mention all my stuff in the medicine cabinet. Must have driven you crazy.

Joey: No, that didn't bother me.

Jade: Well, at least there was something about me being there that didn't bother you. Oh, I just remembered I have some stuff in the kitchen too. Some tea, granola, a few jars of red Diablo sauce. I mean, unless you want them.

Joey: I don't.

Jade: Right. Of course not. 'Cause you only like marinara sauce, right?

Joey: Yeah.

Jade: Okay, I'll just grab those then.

Joey: Jade...

Jade: What?

Joey: I just wanna make sure you know that you're moving out is for the best.

[Soft dramatic music]

Jade: Maybe for you, but not for me. Some day you'll love me as much as I love you.

[Upbeat music]

Kayla: I know you're nervous.

Steve: How?

Kayla: Why don't you try to relax and enjoy yourself, huh?

Steve: [Exhales slowly] I am really happy that you put this thing together, but I gotta tell you, having both boys here trying to act like a family, yeah, it's making me nervous. I mean, every time I've tried to connect with Tripp, it's blown up in my face. He believes I killed his mother. I guess I should understand how hard that must be for him to get past.

Kayla: Well, it doesn't help having Ava's family fanning the flames. But like I told you before, don't give up. Just keep doing what you're doing, and eventually he's gonna see who you really are and who Ava was.

Steve: I hope you're right, baby.

Kayla: I know I'm right. I know the man I married. The man I love.

[Soft dramatic music]

Brady: You know what, that sounds like Tate's toy car.

Nicole: Oh.

Brady: You don't think he got out of bed, do you?

Nicole: Uh-oh.

Brady: I'm gonna go see if he's causing some trouble.

[Clangs]

Eli: Abigail? Are you okay?

Abigail: Yeah, I'm fine. Fine. I was just walking through the park. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.

[Cell phone ringing]

Gabi: No, it's okay. No problem.

Eli: Hey, I'm sorry. I gotta take this.

Gabi: Okay.

[Cell phone beeps]

Abigail: I didn't realize that you and Eli were dating.

Gabi: You were the one who set us up. You thought it was great, as I recall.

Abigail: Yeah, I did.

Gabi: So why are you surprised that we're still seeing each other?

Abigail: I think that's probably pretty obvious.

Gabi: No, it's not obvious to me, unless you think that Eli and I are not a good match, but you played matchmaker. Right, so...?

Abigail: Don't play games with me, Gabi. You know that I left Chad so that the two of you could be together. So I'm sorry if I think it's a little bit strange that now you seem to be moving on with my cousin.

Gabi: Well, I think it's strange that you even did that at all. I mean, no one asked you to. I didn't ask you. That was your choice.

Abigail: I know it was, and I did it-- I already told you why I did it.

Gabi: Right, so that you could be out of the way and Chad and I could be together, but that's not the case. Abigail, that has never been the case. Chad was committed to you. He was committed to renewing his vows with you. You're his wife. Not me. You need to stop living this imaginary life and you need to work things out with your husband.

Tripp: [Clears throat]

Kayla: Oh.

Tripp: Hey.

Kayla: Tripp, sorry.

Steve: Whoa.

Kayla: Sorry, we didn't hear you come in.

Steve: We got a little distracted.

Kayla: [Laughs]

Tripp: I saw. You know, I have to be honest, it's a little weird seeing a married couple get along so well. I mean, there wasn't a lot of "getting along" in the house I grew up in.

[Door closes]

Joey: Hey, guys, sorry I'm late.

Both: Hey.

Joey: I was studying for finals, lost track of time.

Kayla: That's okay.

Joey: Hey, heard what you did for my uncle roman. Thanks. Mom says you were pretty awesome.

Kayla: He was. I was thinking, "our son the doctor."

Steve: [Chuckles]

Kayla: Or is that too much?

Tripp: I guess not.

Steve: What do you think about that, Tripp? You interested in being a doctor?

Tripp: I don't know.

Kayla: You have a knack for it. I mean, you handled the pressure beautifully. You took instruction. I think you have a gift for it.

Joey: Of course, you'd have to get your undergraduate degree first.

Tripp: How do you know I don't already have one?

Joey: I guess I don't. I just thought--

Tripp: I'm 21, you know. I mean, what do you think I've just been bumming around getting myself into trouble?

Joey: I mean, you never mentioned college.

Tripp: I graduated from Arizona state. I put myself through.

Steve: Wow.

Kayla: Good for you. We would have liked to have been at that graduation.

Tripp: Thanks. I appreciate your confidence in me. And if I do decide to go to med school, it's nice to know that you'd be in my corner.

Kayla: Absolutely. Your dad and I would be behind you all the way.

[Holly fussing]

Brady: This stupid toy woke her up, didn't it? She was sound asleep.

Nicole: Oh, so it was the car toy?

Brady: This thing has a mind of its own. God, it's ridiculous.

Nicole: [Laughs] How's Tate?

Brady: He's asleep.

Nicole: Oh, well... since both kids are asleep, I had an idea.

Brady: Oh, god, I have an idea too. Why are you dressed? What's going on?

Nicole: Okay, okay. [Chuckles] All right, that's not my idea.

Brady: That's not your idea?

Nicole: No.

Brady: What?

Nicole: I thought maybe we could make something to eat.

Brady: She's hungry. Okay, how about the world's greatest frittata?

Nicole: Ooh, frittata. Yes, always, frittata.

Brady: Frittata, yeah, molto bene.

Nicole: Ooh, molto, yes.

Brady: Mangi-mangi?

Nicole: Okay, ditto, ditto.

Brady: You wanna mangi?

Nicole: Sure.

[Both laugh]

[Suspenseful music]

Nicole: Oh.

Brady: What can I do? I can boil water for pasta.

Nicole: Well, yeah, that would be an enormous help.

Brady: And that's sarcastic so I will... I can open a jar of the-- what's it called? "Bowling-nowadays"?

Nicole: Oh, my gosh, you're totally scaring me right now. Yes, okay, that's great. Let's do that. [Laughs] You okay?

Brady: I got it.

Nicole: Are you sure?

Steve: So, this year we got married for the third and last time.

Kayla: Last.

[Both giggle]

Tripp: Wow. You've two had quite the life. Gone all over the world, and battling bad guys. Seems pretty awesome.

Steve: Something's bothering you?

Tripp: Well, to be honest, I'm actually glad you told me all that.

Steve: Okay.

Tripp: It's clear that you thought of my mother as one of those bad guys.

Kayla: I'm sorry.

Tripp: No, no, don't be. I asked. It's that I... and I know what everybody has told me about my mother. That she was this sociopath, but... I mean, hearing, you know, the way you two met... falling in love. It'd have just been nice to hear these stories coming from her.

Steve: I get that.

Tripp: But I can never hear her side of the things because she's dead. And all I have are these pre-recorded messages from beyond the grave, which brings me to my next point. If I'm having dinner with my father, and I'm--at the same time I'm having dinner with the per-- [Sniffles, clears throat] I'm sorry. I can't do this. I need to go.

Steve: Tripp, can we just talk a little bit?

Tripp: No, no. I'm sorry, Pops, but... [Sighs] It's kind of a deal breaker. [Chuckles wryly] I really would like to still be friends, but... I just can't see having anything to do with you.

[Somber music]

[Door slams]

Kayla: I'll go talk to him.

Joey: Dad. You've gotta let me help you.

Sonny: I take it the guy at the charter office was no help.

Paul: No, he wasn't, but the pilot was, and it cost you absolutely nothing.

Sonny: How'd you do that?

Paul: Well, it helps that your private investigator boyfriend is a famous ex-MLB pitcher. [Chuckles] I traded some autographs for some information.

Sonny: What'd you find?

Paul: Well, the pilot said he flew a passenger that matched Deimos' description to Canada.

Sonny: So Deimos was telling the truth? He has business in Quebec?

Paul: No, 'cause the pilot flew a guy not to Quebec, but he flew him to Manitoba. It's a little airstrip near a mountain town. See, the pilot said that when they got there, there was a tall, lanky guy with salt and pepper hair waiting for him, and when the guy turned around, the pilot said he had a scar on his right cheek.

Sonny: I know that guy. He works for Titan. His name's Lyle.

Paul: Lyle. What're you doing?

Sonny: I'm gonna track down Lyle right now and find out why Deimos is in Manitoba.

Nicole: Oh, my goodness.

Brady: Did you like it?

Nicole: Okay, I didn't know that you could make a frittata, let alone a great frittata. That was so good.

Brady: I can't take all the credit. It's the freshness of the eggs. When I was negotiating for the hardware store, I ran into this lady and she sells cage free eggs.

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Brady: I'm like, "what are cage free eggs?"

Nicole: What are ca--

Brady: She tells me about this farmers market where you can go, and the neighbors, they literally sell food to each other. I'm thinking to myself, how beautiful is that environment for kids to grow up in?

Nicole: That's amazing. You wanna know what I was thinking about?

Brady: Can't imagine.

Nicole: A dog. Yes, come on, come on, look!

Brady: I knew you were gonna do this to me.

Nicole: I loved pookie. She was so sweet, and she was my first pet, and I really think that the kids should grow up with a dog.

Brady: One dog.

Nicole: A few dogs.

Brady: "A few dogs."

Nicole: Some dogs. Please?

Brady: We can have dogs. Yeah, let's have dogs.

Nicole: Okay.

Brady: You know they can ride their bikes anywhere around here?

Nicole: The dogs? [Laughs] I'm just kidding.

Brady: The kids.

Nicole: Brady, what if we were happy?

Brady: Stop it. You mean, like, happy as if we went on the run and landed in some random city in Canada and became happy and just loved every minute of it?

Nicole: Mm-hmm. Just you, me, Tate, and--

[Baby crying]

Brady: There she is.

Nicole: Ah, yeah.

Brady: There she is. She is always on cue.

Nicole: Shh. I have an idea. Why don't you clean up and I will get our daughter.

Brady: Yep.

Nicole: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm, okay. I'm gonna go get our daughter.

Brady: Go get your daughter.

[Suspenseful music]

Abigail: Okay, but I don't understand because I know that you and Chad love each other.

Gabi: You act like that's the whole story, but it's not. Okay? Chad and I, we got involved because you were not there. Think about that. I mean, he never cheated on you. It's not like we were sneaking behind your back.

Abigail: I know that, and that's why I'm not angry with either one of you. I do not feel the least bit betrayed.

Gabi: And yet you're still ending your marriage.

Abigail: Yeah, I am because marriage doesn't really work if someone's heart isn't totally in it. If they are harboring feelings for somebody else.

Gabi: Have you ever heard about feelings changing or fading? Because it seems to me that if you don't spend time with someone, if you don't talk to them, if you don't have that touch, then, yeah, those feelings will go away.

Abigail: Really? You really think that?

Gabi: Yeah.

Abigail: 'Cause I've watched a lot of movies and I've read a whole lot of novels, and people fall in love and they stay in love, Gabi. It doesn't matter how long they've been separated or if some other person comes into the picture.

Gabi: What do you-- you are not other people. You are Chad's wife. You are the mother of his child. Okay, his place, his life, that's with you and your son.

Abigail: Well, there are a variety of reasons why that is not true.

Gabi: What does that even mean, Abigail?

Abigail: I walked in on him and Kate doing business, and it was just old time, high profit DiMera business, as in, like, totally not legal.

Gabi: And what, that disgusted you?

Abigail: It certainly bothers me, yes.

Gabi: You're very difficult to figure out. You know that?

Abigail: Excuse me?

Gabi: I mean, the guy turns himself inside out to become the man you can love, he turns his back on his family, he saves you from some maniac fiancÚ, he's with you through a breakdown, you make him forgive you for making him think that you're dead, and then you guys make up, you decide to renew your vows, and the day of, in front of your families, Abigail, you say, "you know what? That's it. I don't wanna be here anymore."

Abigail: Yeah, but you know what you're glossing over? You're glossing over months and months of having a front row seat to the Chad and Gabi yearning for each other show.

Gabi: Yeah.

Abigail: Yeah.

Gabi: Point taken.

Abigail: Mm-hmm.

Gabi: All I know is that Chad has done everything humanly possible to prove his love to you. He's been dealt a rough hand and he's trying to do his best.

Abigail: Yeah, well, you know what, it got to the point where trying wasn't really good enough for me anymore.

Kayla: Tripp, wait. Wait. Look. I know that this is hard for you, and you're really still trying to process everything, but as your friend, and I do feel like I'm your friend, maybe you could help me out here. Is there anything that Steve could do to fix this? Because I'll tell you, he will do anything.

Tripp: He can't bring my mom back from the dead.

Kayla: No, he can't do that.

Tripp: Look, you and all of these people have told me what she did to you. That she killed your father. I get how you can't forgive her, you know. You know, bringing down that whole plane, what she did. All those other people. That defines unforgivable.

Kayla: I forgive her.

Tripp: That is very big of you. I wish I could be like you. 'Cause I'd like to forgive your husband who seems like a nice person, but that woman on those DVDs also seems like a nice person. And I'm sorry what she did to you and your family, but the fact is my own father killed my mother... and I just don't think I could ever let that go.

Steve: We've been through this. The only thing you can do would be to tell Tripp the truth, and you can't do that. That would just make things worse. I know you wanna help me, but think what that would do to your mother.

Joey: I know. Damn. I just--I wish Tripp could see what kind of person you are. What kind of dad. A dad that would do anything for his kids.

Steve: That's right. I would do anything for my kids, and he's my kid too. So I am gonna find a way to get through to him. I'm not gonna give up.

Sonny: Hey, is this Lyle?

Lyle: Who's this?

Sonny: This is Sonny Kiriakis. I'm calling you with a heads up.

Lyle: What about?

Sonny: My uncle Victor is extremely upset with you, and I think you know the kind of things that happen to people and employees who upset him.

Lyle: Oh, I ain't done nothing.

Sonny: Well, I think you have, and maybe I can help you out, but you gotta explain a few things to me, Lyle, okay? Number one, why did Deimos charter his own jet? And two, why did he lie about where he was going?

Lyle: I don't know. He doesn't exactly confide in me, you know.

Sonny: And I'm sure that's true, Lyle. I am, but what if uncle Vic thinks you're helping Deimos go behind his back?

Lyle: Well, I'm not.

Sonny: Again, it's uncle Victor's perception of what you're doing that matters. Now, I can smooth everything over for you, Lyle, but... you need to tell me what Deimos is doing in Manitoba.

Lyle: I don't know.

Sonny: But you were at the airport, right? Now, if I know that, how long do you think it's gonna take for uncle Victor to figure that out? You know the kind of tactics he's gonna employ. The gentlemen that he will send to go talk to you, Lyle. They're not gonna be as patient as I am. They're not gonna be as nice as me either. Is this sinking in? Do you feel me, Lyle? You are not in a very good position.

Lyle: I wouldn't do what you said. I would never go against your uncle Victor. This isn't about titan.

Sonny: He's not gonna believe that. Your only hope is to tell me why Deimos is in Manitoba.

Lyle: That broad. The one with the kid. He's come for her and the grandson.

Sonny: Brady black and Nicole walker are there?

Lyle: Yeah. Deimos has come for them.

[Suspenseful music]

Nicole: Oh, my god.

[Door closes]

[Baby crying]

Nicole: Oh, my god. Who are you? What are you doing here? What do you want? You're working for Deimos, aren't you? Aren't you?

Abigail: So do you finally understand?

Gabi: I understand that he needs you. That he loves you. I mean, how can you toss aside such a wonderful man?

Abigail: I did not toss him aside. I gave him his freedom.

Gabi: He doesn't wanna be free of you. I mean, has he not made that clear?

Abigail: You know what he's made clear? He's made it clear that he's willing to work it out with me. Okay, it doesn't really feel that great when someone loves you and is devoted to you, but they've gotta work at it. I don't want him to have to try. I don't want to be spending time with my husband while he's working it out trying to get you out of his mind. I don't want him to have to try not to think about you when he's looking at me or touching me or holding me in his arms.

Gabi: I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you, Abigail.

Abigail: Yeah, I never meant to hurt you either, and I didn't wanna hurt Chad, but I'm just trying to do what's right. Not just for him, but for me, and for you.

Gabi: This is not what I want. You're my friend. I want you to be happy. I want you and Chad and Thomas to be a family. I just want you to please stop playing god. I want you to stop making decisions for Chad and for me 'cause it's not right. It's not okay.

[Cell phone ringing]

Gabi: It's not okay for you to do that.

[Cell phone beeps]

Gabi: Lucy, is everything okay with Ari?

[Soft dramatic music]

Eli: Everything okay?

Abigail: Yeah, I think she just needed to go, and she's talking to the sitter.

Eli: I meant between you two. Look, as a trained observer, I couldn't help but notice that things seemed a bit intense.

Abigail: [Sighs] Yeah, I guess it was. Look, Eli, I don't really know you that well, but Gabi is definitely--

Eli: In love with your husband.

Abigail: She told you that, huh?

Eli: Look, I don't really wanna get into what she told me or didn't tell me, but I know what I'm up against.

Abigail: And so you're just okay with that? You're okay with maybe being her rebound?

Eli: [Chuckles] You're right. You don't know me that well. Look, I've been around, all right. I can handle myself. Gabi and I are both moving into this... well, whatever this is, with our eyes open. You like Jane Austen?

Abigail: What?

Eli: Nah, you remind me of Emma. She's always running around trying to control everyone else's life, but... she's clueless about her own.

Abigail: Okay, Gabi just told me I was playing god. I guess it's a little nicer that I'm, like, Emma.

Eli: I'm a nice guy.

Abigail: Mm. Look, I'm sorry about your date. I hope you guys have a great time. I didn't mean to butt in. Um... will you tell Gabi I said good-bye?

Eli: Yeah.

Abigail: Thank you.

Gabi: She's gone. That was exhausting. I mean, I know we have a reputation, us women, for wanting to talk about our feelings, but it-- I don't know, I was thinking when I was talking to Abigail that it would have been less stressful if it was two guys.

Eli: You think?

Gabi: Oh, yeah, the conversation would have been, like, "Eli, you guys dating? Is that what it is?" And then I would have said, "well, what's it to ya?" And that would have been it. That would have been done.

Eli: It sounds about right.

Gabi: Oh, I totally think so, and then all that weird, confusing stuff, it would have been left unsaid.

Eli: Probably. Well, sounds like you and Abigail have a pretty complicated relationship.

Gabi: Oh, yeah, that is the understatement of the year.

Sonny: That's good to know. I need to talk to them as well. I need to know you're exact location. I'm flying there right now.

Lyle: Should I tell Deimos you're on your way?

Sonny: No, no need for that. I don't want you getting in trouble with Deimos. Just tell me the address. Great. Thank you, Lyle. Pleasure doing business with ya. We'll be in touch.

Paul: So Deimos has tracked down Brady and Nicole?

Sonny: Which means they are in a lot of danger. Deimos is scary. Jealous Deimos is terrifying.

Paul: Brady's my brother. I'm going too.

[Cell phone beeps]

Sonny: The more the merrier. Hey, this is Sonny Kiriakis. Fuel up the jet. Manitoba, Canada.

[Cell phone beeps]

Sonny: Let's hope it's not too late.

Nicole: Please. You're working for Deimos, aren't you?

[Baby crying]

Nicole: Okay, just don't-- don't hurt my baby, okay? Please, don't hurt holly. For god's sake, talk to me, please!

Brady: Nicole, did you say something? Nic? Hey-- what the hell?

Nicole: Brady, I think he's working for Deimos. Just don't hurt holly. Don't. Don't. The in-laws have moved in with us.

[Soft dramatic music]

Steve: How'd it go?

Kayla: Well, he talked to me, and that's a good thing. But this is gonna take a while, and you're gonna need to be patient.

Steve: I'll try.

Kayla: But don't give up 'cause I still have hope. He explained to me how he felt, and he is struggling with what we've told him about Ava. But I believe when he gets to know this family, he'll wanna be a part of it, and then it'll make it easier for him to let go of his mother's death.

Jade: I thought you had dinner with Joey's family.

Tripp: I kinda cut things short.

Jade: I can understand that. They're not exactly the most fun group.

Tripp: It's not that.

Jade: You wanna talk about it?

Tripp: I just don't know how I can ever forgive him for killing my mother.

Jade: Who?

Tripp: "Who"?

Jade: Right, you mean Joey's dad.

Tripp: Yeah, who else would I mean?

Jade: I don't know. I just got confused for a minute. Look, I know how tough it must have been to hear all that stuff. Not just tough, it's a nightmare, but, Tripp, Mr. Johnson's basically a good guy.

Tripp: Yeah, yeah, he seems like one. A good dad too. Till you throw in the part of him murdering my mother.

Jade: Yeah, I guess that's kind of a tricky one to get over.

Tripp: Could you?

Jade: I doubt it. I mean, as much as I hate both my parents, I think if one of them killed the other one, I'd have a hard time being understanding and forgiving. No matter what the circumstances.

Tripp: Yeah, well, for me, it's impossible, all right? If they think I can just go back to feeling the way I did when we first met in phoenix. Just, like, that we could be one big, happy family. They are so wrong. I don't think that could ever happen.

Brady: All right, just listen, listen. If you're working for Deimos, let's talk about it. Let's talk about it rationally, okay? Take the mask off. There's not reason for anyone to get hurt here, okay? If you want money, I have money, okay? I can give you whatever you want, but don't hurt anybody, okay? Not her or the kids.

Nicole: [Whimpering]

Brady: Sit down, sit down. It's all right. It's all right. You're not gonna say anything, huh?

[Baby crying]

Nicole: Oh.

Brady: What do you want?

Nicole: Please, please.

Brady: Stop moving.

Nicole: Okay. Look, she's... she's crying for me. Please, please, let me just hold her. Please. [Quietly] Brady.

[Gunshot]

Nicole: [Screams]

[Thumps]

Nicole: Oh, my god.

Brady: [Gasping]

Nicole: Oh. Oh, Brady, Brady, Brady, Brady.

Brady: Oh, god.

Nicole: Brady, no. Don't leave me. Oh, my god.

Brady: [Groans]

Nicole: What have you done? [Crying] What have you done? Oh, my god.

Gabi: So Abigail said I was on the rebound? What nerve. I mean, you know, I love Abigail, but she can really get on my nerves sometimes.

Eli: You know, don't you wanna know what I had to say?

Gabi: Yeah, of course.

Eli: I told her that I can take care of myself, and that you've been completely upfront with me about Chad.

Gabi: Look, Eli, if you wanna get out of this, then you can.

Eli: Get out? Who said anything about getting out? Gabi, if you're nursing a broken heart, I got the antidote.

[Soft music]

Gabi: That was a nice antidote.

Eli: Yeah, well, I prescribe three times a day at least...

Gabi: [Laughs] Stop.

Eli: And you'll be over that heartache in no time.

[Soft dramatic music]

[Cell phone beeps]

Steve: Thanks for putting this dinner together, baby.

Kayla: Well, even though it wasn't exactly successful, I am optimistic. I'm gonna keep talking to Tripp, and eventually he's gonna let go of that anger.

Steve: I hope so. I'll tell you what I do know.

Kayla: Hmm?

Steve: If I get my son back, it'll be because of you.

Jade: You have to look at the big picture here. Your dad's not a monster. He's a good guy. Bottom line is he did what he did to protect someone that he loves. So just try to give him a break.

Tripp: But you just said that if it was your dad who killed your mom, you could never get past it.

Jade: Yeah, I know I said that, but... this is different.

Tripp: How?

Jade: It just is. Look, I gotta go get the rest of my stuff out of the loft, so see you later.

Tripp: [Mumbles] "He did what he did to protect someone he loves." What? "This is different." What does all that mean?

Brady: [Coughing]

Nicole: Oh, Brady.
