Brady: You know what? This is kind of fun. [Laughs] It really is. I mean, here we are looking for our new home to relocate to. Take a look at this. Bariloche, Argentina. My god, Nicole, this has-- it has mountain skiing. It has this giant lake. It's beautiful. Take a look at this. Look at this.
Nicole: No, no, no, it's okay. Anywhere you pick is fine.
Brady: [Sighs] Okay, um... hey, we need a new name for you. We need to think about our new aliases, so... what do you want to do? How about Laura? No, no, Lisa. Li--Lois would be fun--
Nicole: No, no, not Lois. It's too close to Lolita.
Brady: You know, Nic, um, I know you're upset about this scooter guy and his fascination with "locker room Lolita." I get it. I think it's disturbing. But please know, I'm never gonna let this guy hit on you, so don't worry about it.
[Knock at door]
Brady: We're a happy couple without a care in the world, okay?
Nicole: Hi, Hillary.
Hillary: Hi. I, uh--I made muffins, and I brought you some.
Nicole: Oh, thanks.
Hillary: I would've grabbed your mail, but my hands were full.
Brady: Oh, I'll get it.
Hillary: Here, have a muffin while they're warm.
Nicole: No, that's okay. I prefer to drink my carbs.
Hillary: I guess that's how you keep your awesome figure. I mean, you work out too, don't you? You know what's funny? Scooter started working out again recently. You know, for years now, he hasn't given a damn about his looks, but now that you're the new neighbor, he's working out. There's a-a bounce in his step.
Nicole: Oh, well, maybe spring is in the air.
Hillary: Ah, when a young man's fancy turns to love, is that what you're saying?
Nicole: Yeah, sure. Yeah.
Hillary: Yeah, I don't think it's spring. I think it's you.
Jennifer: I just feel like that I need to go back and check on Abigail.
André: I think a bride is entitled to have cold feet, even though she and her husband are just renewing their vows. You watch. She'll be calling us very soon and be telling us, "come back to the celebration."
Kate: Well, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Dario: I'm surprised you're here. I thought we weren't getting along.
Gabi: I don't want to fight with you, Dario, especially when it's about our dad, okay? I just want you and me and Rafe to get along, okay? You guys are, like, the only stability in my life. Que dios me ayude.
Dario: [Chuckles] I don't want to fight with you either. But stability is overrated. What can I get you to drink?
Gabi: Surprise me.
Dario: I'm working on a new cocktail. It's called "heartbreak amnesia."
Gabi: Well, has that worked for you?
Dario: Not so much.
Gabi: Look, if you want to get over Abigail, you just have to start dating somebody new. I'm hanging out with Eli, and it helps.
Dario: He's not my type. You know, I love my life. Here, you can have the pick of any man you want in Salem, and you end up with an FBI agent.
Gabi: Who cares? I mean, what's it to you? What, now you're as pure as the driven snow?
Dario: I am hurt that you would suggest otherwise. Tell me that you are not rushing into things with Eli.
Gabi: I'm not. But when I'm with him, a whole ten minutes goes by that I don't think about Chad, and that's a start. That's something. I'm trying to put Chad behind me. I'm trying to focus on living my own life. And I think you need to do the same thing.
Chad: We come together with both of our families, and this is the moment that you choose to tell me you think I should be with Gabi?
Abigail: Chad, the vows that you said to me today, they were so touching...
Abigail: And sincere, and they were beautiful. And I believe that you want to mean them. But, Chad, I realized when I started saying my vows that if I love you, if I truly love you-- and I do-- that the kindest and the most loving thing that I can do is to let you go and be with the woman that you belong with, and that is Gabi.
Chad: I--hmm. See, I thought--I thought that you agreed to--to give me time to get over my feelings for Gabi. I've--I've chosen you. I've chosen our life together. I don't understand why you are fighting me on this.
Abigail: Because, Chad, for the first time, I'm seeing this clearly. You know, I didn't before because I desperately-- I wanted our fairy tale to have a happy ending.
Chad: That's what tonight was supposed to be!
Abigail: But it wasn't real! Come on! You know, back at the warehouse when Deimos--when he forced you to choose between me and Gabi, I made up my own fairy tale. I did. That you ran to me and you gave me half of that antidote because you loved me more than you love Gabi. But that's not true. No. Even though you gave her half of it, that's what I thought. But it's not true. Chad--
Abigail: Just please--
Chad: A--no, listen.
Abigail: Just for a second.
Chad: Fine, fine.
Abigail: Let me finish.
Abigail: You and Gabi, you have got such a strong connection. You don't even have to use words to communicate. And I've been in denial about that, but... I'm not anymore. And so I'm gonna-- I want to set you free to go and be with her.
Dario: What is that?
Gabi: It's just a text from Eli. He says that as much as he's enjoyed playing "catch-a-critter" with me that he'd love to take me out on a real date.
Dario: Oh. Can you spell "rebound"?
Gabi: You know, I'm gonna go text over there.
Chloe: Hey, Dario. I'm so sorry, what happened with your father. He was always so nice to me.
Dario: That would put you in a very small group.
Chloe: Do you know or did he happen to leave any information on how to find holly?
Dario: Um, Chloe, um, all those contacts dried up once that they heard the old man was arrested.
Chloe: Okay, but if you could put me in contact with whoever traced them to Canada, I would be grateful.
Dario: I'm sorry. Chloe, it's not gonna happen. Maybe the police will come up with something. Excuse me.
[Cell phone ringing]
Eric: Hi, Chloe, it's Eric Brady.
Chloe: Why are you calling me?
Eric: I need to talk to you.
Chloe: Why would I want to speak to the man who killed the father of my son?
Eric: It's about holly.
Nicole: I can't imagine why you would think scooter's good mood is because of me.
Hillary: No? I mean, you're beautiful, charming. He could hardly be blamed for wanting to make a move on you.
Nicole: Okay, I swear, that is not happening.
Hillary: Well, maybe your marital bliss is inspiring him, then. Yours and Freddie's. It's inspired me-- inspired me to face the facts that my marriage to scooter is on the rocks. Maybe it's my fault.
Hillary: No? I mean, maybe if I had put more of an effort into being romantic, he wouldn't have turned to porn. I'd like to put the spark back into our marriage, but... I think it's too late.
Nicole: Well... you know, maybe-- maybe instead of bringing me muffins, you can do something nice for him, you know, like maybe a romantic dinner? And do something nice for yourself. Go to the salon. Zhuzh yourself up.
Hillary: You know, I like the way your mind works. Sure couldn't hurt. Hey, thank you for listening.
Hillary: Freddie, you are a lucky man.
Brady: What was that all about?
Nicole: Oh, she shared again. What's that?
Brady: I don't know. I was gonna ask you the same thing. Um, did you order something?
Nicole: No, no, I didn't.
Brady: Let's open it up, see what we got.
Nicole: Um, you know what? I-I got something for the kids. It totally just slipped my mind.
Brady: Oh. No worries. I'm gonna keep working on those ids.
Nicole: Okay, good idea.
Chloe: You said you know something about holly?
Eric: Thank you for coming.
Chloe: This isn't a social call. What about holly?
Eric: I want to talk to you about her and Nicole.
Chloe: The last thing that I need is another lecture, especially not from a murderer.
Eric: This is not a lecture, I promise. Just an offer to find some way to resolve this.
Chloe: Do you know where she is?
Eric: No. There's not a day that goes by that I forget what I've done... to you or Nicole. So now I am asking you for a chance to do something to atone.
Kate: I just think the reason that all of this drama occurred tonight is because Abigail woke up to the truth-- that Chad's in love with Gabriella and he should be with her.
Jennifer: Is that why Chad wrote those beautiful vows? Is that why Chad said that Abigail is the center of his world? You stay out of my daughter's life. I am warning you.
Kate: Some people just can't take being wrong.
Chad: I don't want to be set free. [Stammering] Just give me a sec-- I'm so confused. I don't understand why-- why you're doing this to me all of a--
Abigail: Listen to me for a second. When my mom came over, she asked me for some old photographs of you for the slide show, and... I found your old yearbook, and I saw that Gabi was your--your pitching coach, your personal, private pitching coach.
Chad: So what? That was--that was-- that was forever ago. What does it matter?
Abigail: It wasn't to Gabi. She really--she cherished the moments that you guys shared together.
Chad: It was a memory, that's all!
Abigail: It's not, and you know why? Because when both of our lives were on the line, you knew that you could depend on Gabi to go in there and catch that vial.
Chad: No, wrong. No, I hoped that she would catch the vial. That's it!
Abigail: Chad, you knew. Not--you knew! I just needed you to save me again, but in that moment, you two, you were a team. And it's that bond, it's that unbreakable bond that I don't know why the two of you guys just share, and that's what made you so certain that you could save both of us.
Chad: Well, yes--what-- of course I saved both of you! I have saved you over and over and over again! And I saved you again! And I saved her too! That's all that matters!
Abigail: Of course it mat-- you're so right. It matters. But, Chad, that's not all that matters, because... in that moment, if you didn't know that Gabi was gonna catch that vial and you didn't know what she was thinking, honey, I don't think you would have come to me first. And that--that's okay, okay?
Abigail: Is that right? Can you tell me?
What's going on? Did Hillary say something to upset you or...
Nicole: Um...no. I--it's just that I... feel so bad for her. You know, she's such a good person, and she's saddled with that jerk. And you want to know the worst part? She thinks that we have this perfect marriage, and we're not even married.
Brady: Well, we could be one day.
Nicole: As long as we're one step ahead of the law and as long as we never go home. You know what? I am a little on edge. And I think I'm gonna go to the--the gym and work off some of this tension.
Brady: You sure you're up for it? I mean, your neck is obviously bothering you.
Nicole: No, I-- it feels better since I got some sleep when you took the kids out.
Brady: Okay. Well, look, take your time, because I think they're out for the count, so... have fun.
Brady: Oh, hi. That was nice. What's--what's that for?
Nicole: For being you. For believing that I'm a good person. And for doing everything to keep us safe.
Brady: Oh. You're gonna give me a swelled head if you keep going.
Nicole: I mean it, Brady. You've done so much, and I haven't done enough.
Brady: Nicole, I'm not keeping score here.
Nicole: Yeah. Well, um... maybe it's time I started.
Eric: I know and I've seen how much you love parker, which only gives me reason to believe you feel the same way about holly. I know it must be tearing you apart not to be with her right now.
Chloe: I don't need you to tell me how I feel.
Eric: Chloe, have you ever heard the bible story about king Solomon and how he determined who the real mother of the child was? He offered to slice the baby into--into two, knowing full well that the real mother would want the child to live and the child's welfare to be first.
Chloe: And did he think that the other woman would be satisfied with half a baby?
Eric: I'm asking you to think about holly's welfare first. I know, somewhere deep inside of you, you can find a way to compromise with Nicole so she and that baby, they can come home.
André: I must say, I admire your tact and restraint with Jennifer just now. I just wish you were a little less bitchy-- I'm sorry, I meant "straightforward"-- with Abigail.
Kate: I was just telling the truth. Chad can't be happy with Abigail because he's in love with Gabriella.
André: But Abigail is a fine young woman, whereas this Gabrielle person--
Kate: What, has a spine? You know, Abigail reminds me of one of those frail, clingy wives in romance novels, you know, who's always, like, a very tedious impediment to true love.
André: [Laughs] Yes, Gabriella is known far and wide for her "spine," for her bold modeling career, her game-changing foray into personal shopping. I mean, she's certainly a very strong, independent woman who just happened to marry a-a sociopath, and she had a child with a gay man and then moved in on a widower who happened to have infant son, I suppose to dole out sympathy and a few other accoutrements, I'm sure.
Kate: Gabriella is a strong, independent young woman.
André: [Laughing] No. No. No. No, no. You're completely wrong. She is a complete narcissist, like you. And like you, she's aggressive and greedy and needy. You've always been up front, haven't you, about being a prostitute. I like to call a business transaction a business transaction.
Kate: Oh! [Grunts]
Abigail: I asked you a question, Chad. Would you have come to me-- would you have saved me first, before Gabi?
Chad: [Stammers] Babe. Deimos gave me a no-win scenario. And I chose not to play by his sick and twisted rules. I-I-I outsmarted him, and because of that, both of you are still alive. And will never apologize for that!
Abigail: That is not an answer. You had the chance. You had the chance to tell me that she coached you. You had the chance to tell me she caught thousands and thousands of your pitches. But you didn't. You held that back.
Chad: That was years ago!
Abigail: No, it wasn't. Do you not understand that it doesn't matter, the connection that you guys had. It might as well have been yesterday. And, my god, can we please stop with the pitching thing?
Chad: Then stop!
Abigail: Okay! It's-- this is something that has been going on for months, for months, this incredible connection that you guys have.
Chad: What about our connection? What about our connection, huh? What about our son?
Abigail: I do not want the fact that we have a child together to be the reason that you decide you're gonna live with me, that you're gonna commit to me. Don't use Thomas to obligate you to make our marriage work. I mean, I wish that I felt differently about that, but I don't. It's how I feel.
Chad: Oh, how you feel. Okay, well, what about how I feel, huh? That doesn't count for anything? What are you gonna do? You just gonna-- you just gonna abandon me-- again?
Chloe: Why should I compromise when the court awarded me full custody?
Eric: And isn't that working out well for you? You have full custody, and Nicole has the baby.
Chloe: Don't sneer at me.
Eric: I'm not sneering at you. I'm just trying to get you to open your eyes. I think you love holly so much that it's clouding your judgment.
Chloe: My judgment is just fine.
Eric: You could end this. Holly could be home and happy with two women who love her so much. Please, think about her.
Chloe: I don't think about anything else!
Chloe: Sorry, I'm in a rush.
[Soft dramatic music]
Jennifer: I think you just gave Chloe a really big dose of reality. And Chloe and reality really don't have a very strong relationship.
Kate: I am sorry that I hit you, although I wish it had been a little harder.
André: Well, I'm glad I didn't waste my martini on you. But I suppose I had that coming, didn't I? I shouldn't have called you a prostitute. Well, women don't like to be called that.
Kate: You also called me a narcissist.
André: Well, I meant that. I've never met a woman like you, who's got such a high opinion of herself. But that's part of your charm.
Kate: Really? You still find me charming?
André: Mm... I suppose.
Kate: You know...
Kate: We don't have very many friends left in Salem. I suppose the two of us are stuck with each other.
André: Hmm. I think you need another drink if that's the case. And I also need an ice pack for my face. [Snaps fingers] Hmm.
Chad: I-I-I know you better than anyone, and I know your patterns, baby, and--and when things get rough and complicated, you just-- you bow out, and you don't-- you don't say it's because you're scared or you're running. You say that it's--that it's-- it's--it's because it's better for me. And you continue to put me through the wringer as if you're some sort of martyr and you're doing it all for the greater good, and you're not!
Abigail: Chad, you have got every single right to be angry at me for faking my death.
Chad: You're damn right I do!
Abigail: Yes, you are right. But the truth is, when I came back and I saw that you were falling in love with Gabi, my instinct-- my instinct was to stay dead. And if I had done that, two of you would still be together.
Chad: You don't know that! Nobody can!
Abigail: I do know that. Yes, I do know that. I saw it. I saw it with my own eyes. And it was wrong of me to come back here and take you away from her.
Chad: No, it was wrong of you to leave in the first place! And what you're doing now is wrong! And stop making decisions for me! And stop using me as an excuse to keep running away!
[Knock at door]
Hillary: I am sorry-- sorry to be such a pest, but do you have any jumper cables?
Brady: Um, no, no. Sorry, Bridget took the car. Why do you need them?
Hillary: Scooter texted me that his battery died. He was gonna wait for the tow truck, but I thought I could give him a jump. Although he didn't tell me where he was, and now he's not answering his phone.
[Cell phone beeps]
Brady: Okay, um... "car trouble. Tow truck coming. No need to wait up."
Hillary: It's Bridget?
Brady: Yeah, it is weird.
Hillary: Maybe mercury is in retrograde or something.
[Cell phone beeps] Oh, maybe that's scooter. Uh, I'm--I'm sorry. I got to go.
Nicole: Please leave a message at the beep.
Brady: Voice mail. Voice-- what--
Kate: Ah! I am so glad I found you.
Gabi: What's going on?
Kate: I have some news. So they're in the middle of the vows, and suddenly Abigail calls a time-out. She asks us all to leave. I'm telling you right now, there is trouble in paradise.
Chad: I'm sorry.
Maybe, um-- maybe it's easy for you to forget how much I... I love you, but I can't. And I love you now. I love you. You know, we-- let's not forget that, you know, all of this-- all of this was--was--was-- was your idea here tonight, okay? And--and--and--and I-- and we agreed, you know, to give me a little bit of time. I didn't cheat on you, Abby, you know? I-I was--I was grieving the loss of my wife, and I got close to somebody else so I could move on. And--and, you know, that takes-- that takes time to process.
Abigail: Chad, no, I know. But you can't process the way that you feel, honey.
Chad: This is just-- I don't under-- I don't-- this isn't fair, baby. I don't--
Abigail: I know. Honey, now I know what you and Gabi share, okay? And this is so much more than me just being gone for a little while. This goes all the way back to when you guys were in high school. And, Chad, you-- yeah, you're trying to do the right thing, but when you love somebody, you got to love them with your whole heart, okay? Because you deserve it, and Gabi deserves it, and, dang it, I deserve it. So stop telling me that I'm making decisions for you when I'm making them for me. I can't do it. [Cries] Chad, I don't-- I'll never love anybody as much as I love you. But I will not settle for any less than all of you.
Chad: [Exhales deeply]
Abigail: I just-- I want you to be happy. If I thought-- honey, if I thought that I could make you happy, I wouldn't leave you. But I have to admit this, and I have to accept it.
[Soft dramatic music]
Chad: Oh, no.
Eric: I don't know if I should have butted into a situation that doesn't involve me.
Jennifer: Well, you can't save everyone. But I like that you keep trying.
Eric: So you're babysitting for Thomas? I assume that Chad and Abigail needed to be alone tonight?
Jennifer: Uh, that's not really what happened. Right in the middle of Abigail saying her vows, she just stopped and said that she needed to talk to Chad alone. And I've been trying to text her. She's not responding. I really thought this was gonna be a fresh start for them. But it--it doesn't look that way.
André: Where's Abigail?
Chad: She's gone. Walked out. She thinks that I'm in love with Gabi.
André: She's wrong. You should be with the woman that you love, and that is Abigail.
Chad: I know. I do love her. But she thinks that my feelings for Gabi are stronger, so she doesn't want to stand in our way.
André: Well, find a way to change her mind. She was wrong to ask me to help her fake her death. She's such a different person now. She's must stronger. And you need her. She keeps you centered.
Chad: I know. I told her that. But she's made up her mind.
André: Well, make her change her mind. You're a DiMera. We don't give up. [Bangs on desk]
Gabi: Wait, what do you mean? She loves Chad.
Kate: Well, god only knows what goes on in her head. But all I'm saying is that she has given you a golden opportunity.
Gabi: No, no, she hasn't.
Kate: Gabi, she fumbled the ball. This is your time to make a move.
Gabi: No, this is the time for me to mind my own business and to hope this is just a bump in the road...
Kate: Okay, look.
Gabi: And that's it.
Kate: I understand. You're worried about being a home wrecker, but you are not. Abigail already did the demolition. Gabi, this is your chance. You love him. You have to fight for him. Do for him what she can't: Make him happy.
Nicole: You have no idea what just happened.
Brady: What are you talking about?
Nicole: Well, it turns out that our friendly neighborhood cop is married to a porn-addicted pervert who remembers me as misty circle.
Brady: Come on, no. She wouldn't.
Maple leaf motel.
Hi, uh, this is Freddie. Yeah, no, I met you at the community center a couple days ago. Right, right. Listen, I remember you telling me that you babysit, and I would love your help. It's an emergency.
Eric: You know, Abigail will call you when she needs you. She knows you're always there for her.
Jennifer: But you know what they say. A mother is only as happy as her least happy child.
Eric: You know, everything's gonna be okay.
Eric: You'll see.
Jennifer: Feels good to be in your arms again.
Abigail: Oh, god. [Crying] Oh.
Dario: What--what happened? What's wrong?
Dario: What-- hey, hey, hey, hey.
Abigail: It's over. Chad and I, we're over. [Sobbing]
