Sonny: Did you find anything on Deimos?
Paul: Yeah, you know, you were right to think that he was up to something. He lost the Orwell, a cargo ship was sunk, and yet he still managed to keep titan's profits on an upswing.
Paul: By pirating stolen artifacts from around the world. The kind of stuff that goes missing in war-torn countries.
Sonny: Picking up right where my uncle Vic left off.
Paul: Yeah, but see, your uncle Victor never got caught. Now, if we can get some proof and you can stomach it, we can send Deimos back to prison for a long time.
Chad: Just got you, you son of a bitch!
Abigail: Excuse me?
Chad: What? Sor--no, not--not to you. Not you.
Abigail: [Laughs] Let me guess. Deimos Kiriakis.
Chad: Yeah. Well, um... so I-- I found out that he's using a middle man to buy and sell stolen antiquities. So if I can get him to cut out Deimos, then I can cut off his cash flow and leave that bastard with nothing.
Abigail: Mm. But I thought you guys were gonna turn him over to the feds.
Chad: Yeah, André thought maybe we'd be better served if we took over the business.
Abigail: But it's illegal.
Chad: It is. Essentially is a victimless crime. And--and I think I have a plan to make it less wrong, maybe even turn into something good, so...
Abigail: [Sighs] I don't know. I don't--
Chad: Hey. Trust me, okay?
Hal: Oh, no, no, no! Stay back! Don't come near me.
Steve: Okay, don't worry. Don't worry. I'm staying right here. Right here.
Kayla: Oh, God.
Steve: Kayla, you okay?
Kayla: There's epinephrine in the syringe. It could stop my heart.
Hal: Yeah, which is why you need to listen to me.
Steve: All right, I'm listening. What do you want?
Hal: I want not to die! She messed up the--the surgery and now my body's rejecting the new liver.
Kayla: Hal, this is not you. It's just the adverse effect from the anesthesia.
Hal: No, no, no! Don't do that! Do not dismiss me!
Steve: Hey, man, hey, hey, hey. Nobody's dismissing you. You just need to tell me what you need. What can we do to help?
Joey: What the hell? Hey, let her go!
Steve: Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Kayla: Joey, I'm all right. Joey, I'm fine.
Joey: What is he doing?
Steve: We got it under control.
Steve: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Everybody, calm down. Hal, Hal, look at me. You need to tell me what we can do to help you.
Joey: You want to help him?
Hal: I want not to go to the bottom of the transplant list. I want you to find me a liver. Now!
Hal: Either I live or she dies!
Steve: Okay, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. No, no, no. No.
Valerie: I've been looking all over for you. You never answered my texts.
Eli: Because I have nothing to say to you.
Valerie: I never meant to hurt you. I thought I was doing the right thing.
Eli: By keeping me away from my real father and his entire family? By lying to me?
Eli: And now he's dead and I'll never get a chance to meet him. What kind of mother does that?
Gabi: [Clears throat] Uh...
Chad: [Clears throat]
Abigail: Oh, my gosh. How long were you standing there? [Clears throat]
Gabi: Well, Harold let me in. He probably should've given me a warning or a bell or something.
Chad: Sorry, we were just...
Gabi: No, I know. I-- next time I'll knock.
Abigail: I'm just gonna choose to move past the awkward.
Abigail: We don't want to be late for belly dancing.
Chad: Whoa. Hold--uh, belly dancing?
Abigail: Yeah, there's a beginner class at the Y. It's supposed to be a really good workout.
Gabi: I mean, I was ready to bail, but I--I figured it might be a good work opportunity, so--
Chad: Oh, yeah? You gonna become a professional belly dancer?
Gabi: It's for my lifestyle blog. I can write a post about the experience.
Abigail: Okay, well, we should get going, so good luck with your project. Bye.
Chad: Bye. See you. Later, Gabi.
Gabi: Bye, Chad.
Chad: André, hey. Did you get the information on Deimos's antiquities dealer?
Okay. "Grygor"... Grigor Grozdam. Bulgaria. Okay, well, let's gas up the jet and move. Wait. He's here in Salem now to meet Deimos? All right, well, let's-- let's get to him first then.
Steve: Hal, this doesn't make any sense, man. Kayla is your doctor. She's the only one who can save your life.
Hal: Yeah, but she's not doing it. She botched the transplant.
Kayla: No, no, no! The operation was a success. We can't control--
Hal: No, no! Shut--shut up!
Steve: Shh, shh, shh.
Hal: I don't want to hear your excuses.
Joey: Hey, don't talk to her like that.
Steve: Joe, Joe, easy.
Joey: No, it's bad enough you were a terrible father to jade, now you threaten my mom's life?
Hal: Well, what about my life, huh? I need a transplant now!
Kayla: No! You know what, Hal? It doesn't work like that. It doesn't work like that, and even if your body could handle the surgery, organs are managed by a national registry. There are rules.
Hal: Yeah, but you can pull strings, just like you did for that Brady guy.
Kayla: No, I didn't!
Hal: Yeah, no, no, I know!
Kayla: I almost lost my license!
Hal: Yeah, so I'm not important enough, huh?
Kayla: That's not it.
Hal: Why? Because I'm not rich? 'Cause I'm not one of your friends?
Steve: Hal, none of that is true, no.
Hal: This is my life! What is it gonna take, huh? What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take for you guys to know I'm serious? Am I gonna have to inject her?
Joey: Hey, no, no!
Steve: Stop! My belly pain and constipation?
Joey: Let her go, you bastard. I swear, if you hurt her--
Kayla: No, he's not gonna hurt me, are you, Hal?
Hal: Not if I get my liver.
Steve: Joe, listen, why don't you go find Mr. Burns, the hospital administrator.
Kayla: He's the one that puts in requests for the organs.
Steve: That's right.
Hal: No, no, no, no, no! Nobody leaves.
Steve: Hal, how far do you think you're gonna get with her? You're barely on your feet.
Hal: I can make it to the parking garage. And then she can drive to someplace safe. We'll wait for an organ.
Joey: Are you insane? The cops are gonna grab you the second you go into surgery.
Steve: He's not insane, he's scared. He's staring death in the face, and that'll make anybody desperate. Especially someone with regrets.
Hal: What are you talking about?
Steve: I'm talking about being a father, making mistakes. I'm talking about not being there for your kids.
You think you got all the time in the world to make up for it. Then all of sudden you don't. It's a hard lesson to learn. Every moment with your kids is precious.
Chad: Mr. Grozdam. Sorry to keep you waiting. I know you are very busy. Um, if you don't mind having a seat, I'll get right to business. [Clears throat] My company, DiMera Enterprises, we're looking to get into buying and selling art and antiquities. That being said, how would you feel about working for us exclusively?
Grigor: I'm sorry, but this is not possible. I already have an exclusive arrangement.
Chad: Yes, with Deimos Kiriakis. I'm aware.
Grigor: Then you're aware that I should not even be having this conversation.
Chad: What if I could make you a better offer?
Grigor: [Laughs] I say it would have to be exceedingly good because betraying Deimos Kiriakis is taking your life in your hands.
Chad: Well, I'm willing to take that risk if you are.
Valerie: I promise you, this was not an easy decision for me. It was one I made every day of your life. But...
there were so many times I wanted to tell you.
Eli: But you never did. I mean, not on any birthdays or big games. I mean, not even when dad-- or Terrence died. Now it's too late.
Valerie: I just never thought it would happen like this.
Eli: Yeah, of course you didn't, 'cause you were only thinking of yourself.
Valerie: That's not true.
Eli: You know, for someone who heals people for a living, you are the most selfish person I know.
Valerie: Eli, I was always trying to protect you.
Eli: From my father?
Valerie: From being hurt. Yes, David was a good man, but he was never cut out to raise a family. He was restless. He never liked being-- being tied down to anything or anyone.
Eli: Maybe he just needed something to keep him in one place. Like a son.
Valerie: He had a son. He had Scotty, and that never kept him from leaving. I am so sorry I hurt you. I-- I think we should just go back to D.C. And try to work this out, honey.
Eli: I'm not going back.
Valerie: Well, why?
Eli: Because my family is here.
Valerie: You called Julie.
Julie: Hello, Valerie. Hello, Eli. Doug and I just got back from spending some time with Scotty. Well, I hope everything's okay.
Eli: Everything is not okay. Is it, mom?
Valerie: We should talk.
Eli: [Scoffs] Now you want to talk, huh? Aren't you a little late?
Julie: Is--is something going on here?
Eli: Well? Are you gonna tell Mrs. Williams the news or should I?
Chad: I'm offering something very different than Deimos. Look, Mr. Grozdam, I love art. All right, the passion, the craftsmanship, the history. My father, Stefano DiMera, was a great collector and he raised me to cherish and honor all of the great works of the past. I don't want to see them collecting dust in some private collection. I want to protect them until someday they can be returned to their rightful places.
Grigor: You must take me for a fool.
Grigor: I, too, love art. As I'm certain your father did. But Stefano DiMera and Deimos Kiriakis are not in it for the love, and neither are you. You're in it for the profit.
Chad: What if-- what if I could give you assurances that when everything was stable, all of these treasures would be returned anonymously to the countries of origin?
Grigor: I would love nothing more, but what would motivate a buyer to take such a risk?
Chad: 'Cause of the market for returning stolen artifacts. Some of the rewards are more valuable than the pieces themselves. Countries will pay anything to have their historical art back. Look, Mr. Grozdam, wouldn't it be amazing to-- to give these works of art, these treasures, sanctuary in a proper museum where they belong?
Grigor: It would. André was right. You are a man of integrity, and that means something to me.
Chad: I know it does.
Grigor: Unfortunately, my answer must still be no. I cannot and I will not betray Deimos Kiriakis.
Hal: How long can I survive without the transplant?
Kayla: I'm not sure, but I'll do everything in my power to help you hang on. I promise you that.
Hal: That's what you said before, and you failed me. And you, you turned my daughter against me.
Joey: I didn't have to. You tortured her and treated her like dirt for most of her life.
Joey: You drove your daughter away.
Hal: I'm her father!
Hal: You were only with her because she was having your baby, and when that went away, you were just looking for any excuse to get out.
Joey: Shut your mouth.
Steve: No, no, no. Don't listen to him.
Joey: Is this who you want to be? Is hurting my mom, the woman who tried to save your life, how you want jade to remember you?
Hal: [Laughs] Oh, God. "Remember me"? I'm already dead to you people, aren't I? Okay, so I have nothing to lose.
Julie: Well, if nobody's gonna say anything, I'll order myself a cup of chowder.
Valerie: We should talk...
Eli: [Scoffs] I don't know why I'm surprised. Mrs. Williams, I'm sorry about all the mystery. I called you here today because... I was really moved by what you said about your son David at the memorial service.
Julie: Thank you.
Eli: He seemed like a great person.
Julie: He was a great person. I wish I had told him I believed that when he needed to hear it from me, but... well, your mom will tell you. When you lose somebody you really love, there are always regrets.
Eli: She knows all about regrets. Don't you, mom?
Julie: Valerie. I know David never stopped loving you.
Julie: I know you have to go back to D.C., To your life, but I wish you'd stay here just a little bit longer. It--it helps me, your being around.
Valerie: Oh--oh, Julie, I don't--
Julie: I've always thought of you like a daughter. In my heart of hearts, I used to imagine what it would've been like if you and David had been able to make it work, if the two of you had had a family of your own. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I am not ready for this. I just gotta go.
Eli: Wait, please.
They did have a family.
Eli: Your son and my mother, they had a family.
They had me.
Julie: Is this true?
Valerie: Yes. Yes, Eli is David's son.
Kayla: You know, Hal, Hal, you don't have to do this.
Steve: That's right.
Kayla: Come on.
Steve: We can work this out, man. All you have to do is trust me and let her go.
Hal: Find me that liver. Move. Move!
That's it, that's it.
Kayla: Take it easy, Hal.
Hal: Get me out of here.
Kayla: You know, you're only gonna get worse if you leave the hospital, Hal.
Millie: Dr. Brady?
Hal: Back off.
Kayla: It's okay, Millie. It's okay. It's all right. It's okay.
Hal: Keep moving.
Kayla: Come on.
Steve: Hey, you don't want to spook him while he's got that needle on her.
Joey: So we let him take her?
Steve: I didn't say that.
Kayla: You know what? Without access to hospital equipment...
Steve: Just follow my lead.
Kayla: I can't give you proper medical care.
Hal: Oh, you'll figure it out, just like your loving husband will help me. You know what, I can see you!
Steve: Okay, okay, okay.
Hal: Back off! I swear I'll do it--
Steve: All right, all right!
Hal: I'll do it right here!
Steve: I'm here, I'm here.
Jade: Daddy, what are you doing with Joey's mom?
Hal: It's okay, honey. Go back to your room.
Jade: Is that a needle in your hand?
Hal: You don't need to be here. Please go.
Jade: I don't understand. Are you gonna hurt her?
Hal: It's not what you think. Okay? I'm doing this for both of us. Everything we went through, the sacrifices you made, it didn't work.
They messed up the surgery. I'm gonna die if I don't get another liver. And it can't be yours this time, baby. So this is my only chance. This is the way I get another chance at life, another chance at being a better father.
Jade: You think this is the way to get it?
Hal: She's not gonna help me. Nobody's helping me.
Jade: You have got to stop this! Stop blaming everybody else for your problems. All of this, everything that is happening is your fault. You were drunk and you were mean, and now it's all catching up to you. I tried to help you, and I'd do it again, but not if you're going to hurt good people, people who took care of me when you threw me out.
Joey's family was kind and loving to me when you and mom were not.
Hal: I always loved you.
Jade: If you did, then how could you hurt someone that means so much to me? I thought you changed before the surgery. I thought that there was actually a chance that you could be a father to me.
But if you do this, I don't want you in my life at all.
Put your hands behind your back!
Hal: Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Steve: You got him?
I got him, I got him, I got him, I got him.
Steve: Oh, baby, I got you. I got you. Okay. Okay. It's all right. It's all right.
Sonny: This has got to be the most boring email account I have ever seen.
Paul: Yeah, it doesn't have any funny memes or cat videos. Yeah, he really needs some friends.
Sonny: Yeah, well, he'll find plenty of friends when he's behind bars.
Paul: Well, we're not gonna get him in there by reading his spam.
Sonny: You know, if Deimos is old-school, then I think that's what we're gonna have to do. We're gonna go old-school to catch him. You know, I'm gonna get real close to him and watch everything that he's doing.
Paul: Yeah, I don't-- I don't really think that's such a good idea.
Sonny: What are you talking about? You saw me undercover in Europe. I was killing it.
Paul: Yeah, but that's-- that's a little different. I mean, if Deimos finds out that you're trying to destroy his life, you're not even gonna be safe in your own home.
Chad: Look, if--if honor and integrity mean that much to you, you must know Deimos has neither. He has stolen from my family, kidnapped me, locked me up, nearly had me killed.
Grigor: Then you understand my dilemma.
Chad: [Scoffs] There are ways to protect yourself. A man like you, you must have documentation of all of the deals you've done with him.
Grigor: I keep meticulous records.
Chad: Then Deimos knows he cannot go after you. Mr. Grozdam, why would you want to work with a man like that?
Look, if you just--if you could give me one more minute, there's something I think you should see.
Abigail: I know.
Chad: Now, that's not something you see every day, now, is it?
Abigail: We left the outfits on just for you. Teacher said I'm a natural.
Gabi: Pretty sure we could book gigs if we worked at it. [Laughs]
Chad: Your mothers would be so proud.
Abigail: What are you looking for?
Chad: Uh... Deimos's antiquities dealer is inside, and he is--
Grigor: I'm sorry, but I really must-- this is your surprise?
Grigor: To convince me to do business with you, you're offering these dancers?
Gabi: Sorry, what is he talking about, "offering"?
Abigail: That's right, yeah. We're here for you.
Steve: All right, get you some water. I really think we should have somebody check you out.
Kayla: No, I'm fine. I just--you know, I'm just a little shaken up. You know, I really feel bad for Hal.
Steve: What? You did everything you could for him.
Kayla: But it's probably not gonna be enough.
Jade: I'm so sorry he did that to your mom. I hate seeing him like this, even after everything that he put me through.
Joey: He's still your dad.
Jade: I'm so sorry, Kayla.
Kayla: You have nothing in the world to be sorry for. You are the only one that got through to him.
Jade: I just can't believe he would do that to you.
Is he going to jail?
Steve: Definitely will be charges.
Joey: Let's get back to your room.
Jade: I want you to know that I still love my dad. But you're my family.
Steve: Oh, baby. [Sighs] Thank God you're okay.
Kayla: You are always so cool in a bad situation.
Steve: Oh, yeah, I was cool. My heart was about to jump out of my chest.
Kayla: [Chuckles] Well, you hid it well. Oh, man, just that needle against my neck. I just-- I mean, what would've happened if he'd injected me? I mean--
Steve: I was never gonna let that happen.
Kayla: You know, what you said to him in the room, do you still feel like you let your family down? Because I'll tell you something: That is in the past. You have more than made up for it. To all of us.
Julie: David's son?
Julie: Yes. Yes, I see it... his face in your face.
You are his. I'm your grandma.
How is it possible? How did this happen?
Eli: Tell her. Tell her why she didn't know until now.
Valerie: Oh, well... David and I... we--we broke up, and got back together and broke up so many times. So many times he'd come in and out of my life. And then...
and then the last time, he never came back. And that's when I realized I was pregnant.
Julie: But you never told him?
Eli: Or me.
Valerie: I was alone. I was alone. Terrence was my neighbor and my best friend. When he learned I was pregnant, he offered me his love, and to help me take care of my little baby.
Julie: This is the man you thought was your father?
Julie: Was he good to you? Was he good to you when you were growing up?
Eli: He was my hero... till he died in the line of duty.
Julie: Oh, my God, I'm so terribly sorry.
Eli: Why? She was the one who lied my whole life. I never got to meet David, and he never knew he had a son.
Julie: Eli, I don't know what to say.
Valerie: I'm sorry. Julie, I am so sorry. I--I didn't--
Julie: I can't. I can't.
Valerie: I never meant for it to be like this.
Julie: I can't! I can't! I gotta get out of here.
Eli: Still think you did the right thing?
Abe: Eli? Eli.
Valerie: Oh, Abe.
Abe: Oh, my God.
Chad: Oh, Mr.--Mr. Grozdam, I can--I can explain.
Abigail: Oh, Mr. DiMera asked us here to entertain his guest.
Abigail: That's what we do. We're dancers.
Chad: Okay, well, I'll just be clear about how--
Grigor: My late wife anta was a belly dancer. I met her at a wedding and it was love at first sight. But you knew this, didn't you? You did your homework.
Abigail: Of course he did. That's--that's why we're here.
Grigor: I thank you for honoring me that way.
Chad: You know what? That's, um... that's my pleasure.
Grigor: Please, please, please, don't let me keep you from your craft. It would be a blessing to watch you perform.
Gabi: Oh, it would?
Abigail: Yeah, of course it would. We'll--we know that, so go ahead. Go into the living room and turn on some music, and we'll be right in.
Gabi: Are you out of your mind?
Abigail: Okay, look, this is really important to Chad.
Gabi: [Stammering] We only took one class at the y!
Abigail: [Laughs] She said I was a natural.
Gabi: What does she know? She's teaching a class of belly dancing at the y!
Abigail: You're gonna be amazing.
Gabi: Oh, my God. Are you kidding me?
Abigail: This is really important.
Gabi: I can't do it.
Abigail: You can. I know you can. Okay, here we go. Ready?
Gabi: Oh, you owe me so big for this!
Abigail: I love you.
Gabi: Oh, my God!
Abigail: Seven, eight, and one, two, three, four, and--
Grigor: I will break with Deimos and work exclusively for DiMera.
Chad: [Laughs] You will not regret it.
Abigail: [Laughs] How much did we just rock that dance?
Chad: His dead wife was a belly dancer? Who saw that coming?
Gabi: I mean, at one point I thought he wanted to-- I don't know know.
Chad: Okay, we won't go there. Lucky for us, Mr. Grozdam is a man of great honor and integrity.
Gabi: Who likes belly dancers who only have one class at the y under their belts.
Abigail: But did I mention that I'm a natural?
[Abigail and Gabi laugh]
Chad: True, but the most important thing is that he's leaving Deimos and coming to work with us.
Gabi: Oh, that's-- that's really great news. I'm really happy for you. You know, I'm actually gonna go. I--I got to get started on that blog. It's gonna write itself.
Chad: Thank you for helping.
Gabi: Yeah, any time. Actually, not with the dance. I never want to do that again, but yeah.
Chad: You guys saved me, and I know you were not excited about me taking over that part of the business.
Abigail: No, it's gonna hit Deimos where it counts, so that's good.
Chad: Yeah. Thought losing the Orwell was bad, wait until he loses all of his cash flow.
Deimos: You're late, and I do not appreciate being kept waiting.
Grigor: Actually, I'm not coming at all. I have decided to terminate our business relationship.
Deimos: Wait, what are you talking about? We have an arrangement.
Grigor: Not anymore.
Deimos: Do you realize how much money I have invested in those antiquities and coins? I just lost the payday of a lifetime! I'm not about to let this deal slip away.
Grigor: I really must be going.
Deimos: Grigor! What the hell is going on? You must know I will come after you.
Grigor: You won't find me, and even if you could, I have enough evidence to have you arrested on dozens of charges in multiple countries! And if I disappear, all evidence against you will be released to the ISA.
Deimos: Oh, trust me, I'm not through with you. I will find you. I will find you and I will make you pay for--
Deimos: You son of a--
Abe: It couldn't have been easy living with this secret all these years.
Valerie: I kept telling myself... I was doing this for Eli.
Abe: You know, I-- I take it he didn't see it that way.
Valerie: No. You should've seen the look in his face. He was so hurt. To think the person he's trusted the most... has been lying to him his whole life.
Abe: He'll come around.
Abe: He knows you love him.
Valerie: I don't know, Abe. I don't know. What if I've lost my son for good?
Eli: Mrs. Williams. I'm sorry to chase after you. I just... are you okay?
Julie: Okay? I don't know. I'm feeling so many things right now.
Eli: Yeah, me too.
Julie: If David had just known that you existed.
Eli: You think it would've changed things.
Julie: I do, I do. It would've changed it for everybody.
Eli: Yeah, well, my mom took that away from all of us.
Julie: Don't think about it. I can't think about what your mother did right now. Valerie made her choices, and safe to say, you and I just don't agree.
Eli: Definitely not.
Julie: But look what's happened.
I've been so hopelessly sad since David died...
and now I have a grandson. Someone strong and sensitive, and a good man.
Eli: How do you know that?
Julie: Oh, honey, when you've lived as long as I have you know things. I was so angry at God for taking your father away. Then God gave me this gift.
I woke up this morning, my heart was empty. I look at you...
my heart is so full.
Kayla: I just want to go on the record by saying that I think it was an adverse reaction to anesthesia is the primary reason for Hal's actions.
I'll be sure to put that in the report.
Kayla: Thank you.
Thank you, Doctor.
Steve: You didn't have to stand up for him like that.
Kayla: I did--
Steve: He could've killed you.
Kayla: I did it for jade. Thank you for saving my life. Again.
Steve: Well, you saved me all those years ago. I'm just trying to climb back to even.
Kayla: [Chuckles] So what are you doing here again?
Steve: Well... I got some surprising news today.
Kayla: Good surprise or bad surprise?
Steve: Depends on your perspective, I guess. I got a call from that creep, Raymond, who helped Ava's father sell the baby on the black market.
Kayla: What did he want?
Steve: He wanted to tell me he made a mistake.
Kayla: Oh, selling a baby's a mistake? Oh. That's one way to put it.
He made a mistake when he told me that the baby Ava and I had together... was dead.
Steve: Turns out he's alive.
The boy's alive.
