Ortiz: I don't even think the ghost of Steve Jobs can get that thing working again.

Hope: Like I have anything else to do.

Ortiz: Finally figured out where I've seen you before.

Hope: Front page of the paper?

Ortiz: When Joe Maloney was in the hospital, you were there every day.

Hope: You knew Joe?

Ortiz: Old friend. He told me you were the one who saved his life.

Hope: Kept pressure on the wound until the EMTs got there. It was them and the surgeon that saved his life.

Ortiz: You're pretty modest about what happened. Joe says he was pinned down, and you could've been shot getting to him.

Hope: He would've done the same for me. It's what cops do. They look out for each other, right?

Ortiz: Yeah, they do.

Coco: Why don't they get a room?

Sheila: [Scoffs] Girlfriend's making sure she has friends in high places.

Coco: We got to prove to her that's not the way things go in here.

Sheila: Mm-hmm.

Coco: We got to put her in her place.

Sheila: Yep.

Dario: Look, Myron, whining to my dad was not cool. I told you I will get you the other microchip. I know exactly where that purse is, okay? In the meantime, I need you to uphold your end of the bargain so we can beat the DiMeras to the punch. Can you do that? Okay, okay, then let me explain it to you. Market the device first, we're gonna make millions. Come in second, nada.

Rafe: Since Chad gave us Stefano's emails, we were able to track down the doctor who said that Stefano was terminal.

Gabi: Did you thank him? I'm sure that wasn't easy for him.

Rafe: Yeah, I'm sure it wasn't easy. And yes, I did thank him. You know, it actually seems like he's trying to help us find the truth, so I'm not really sure he's a DiMera.

Gabi: Well, I'm sure he's a very good guy.

Rafe: Oh, you know what else he did? He arranged for Harold to go on record and say that Stefano bought a gun, and that he heard him say he hoped he could prod someone into using it on him.

Gabi: Wow. Yeah, that must have been even harder on Chad.

Rafe: Right?

Gabi: You know, he loved his father very much.

Rafe: Yeah, yeah, that's what he said. And he also went to hope in jail and said he just wanted to make peace. So, yeah, I guess he is a good guy, and now I see why you like working with him.

Gabi: Uh, well, not anymore. I quit.

Rafe: Huh.

Gabi: Yeah.

Chad: Right, yeah, so, um, no, so, I've been thinking about what you said the other day about the memorial plaque for Abby. Uh-huh. Yeah, well, I'd really-- I'd really love to be able to talk to you about it if you have a chance. Okay, this afternoon? Yeah, I can meet you in the square. Okay. All right. Thank you, father Louis.

[Baby cooing] All right, little man. Got to head out and handle some stuff for your mom.

Jennifer: Hey.

JJ: What's that?

Jennifer: I was just gonna bring some coffee up to Abigail.

JJ: She's still hiding? I thought she finally decided to tell Chad.

Jennifer: She did say that yesterday, but, honey, she is still so fragile. We can't force her into it, all right? It has to be in her timing, or else she could just run away again, and I don't want that to happen.

Abigail: No more running for me. Look, I've been thinking about this all night, and I prayed about it, and I just-- I know who Chad is, and he has been through so much for me, and he is so strong. I just--I realized that all I've been thinking about is how he's gonna react when he finds out how horribly I lied to him.

JJ: You didn't lie.

Abigail: JJ, I did. I definitely lied to him. Every second that I spent dead, I was lying. So, I've just been seeing and thinking about-- I know--I know who Chad is. I know what he's like, and he will get past this, and we can be together again.

Jennifer: Yes, yes! Amen to that, baby. This is gonna be so wonderful. It really is.

Abigail: So, I... I guess it's time. It is time for me to go and see my husband and to see Thomas.

JJ: Okay, let's get going. I'll drive you.

Jennifer: Oh, wait, you know, honey, why don't I drive, and then I can look after Thomas so you and Chad can have some time alone.

Abigail: Oh, I don't-- I didn't want to go right now. I--

JJ: What?

Abigail: I mean, I'm not changing my mind, JJ. I just--I don't want to go like this. I feel like I look awful.

Jennifer: What? No, honey, you look beautiful. Believe me. Chad is not going to care what you're wearing.

Abigail: I care. I just--I feel like I've been thinking about this moment for so long. I really want it to be perfect.

JJ: You take as long as you want. I want it to be perfect for you too.

Abigail: Wow. Boy, he grew up, didn't he?

Jennifer: Yeah, he did.

Abigail: [Laughing] So, can you just find me something to wear and help me with my hair?

JJ: This is like a really weird prom date.

Jennifer: Well, I am gonna do it. I am gonna make you look even more gorgeous than you already are, baby.

Abigail: Thanks, mom.

Jennifer: I love you. Okay, I'll be right back.

JJ: I know you're doing the right thing. I know that Chad loves you.

Abigail: Like Gabi loves you. See?

JJ: Yeah.

Abigail: Oh, JJ. This is finally our happy ending.

Rafe: Well, that's a great plan. You want to be an image consultant and you have a high-powered publicity-magnet client, and so you dump him. That makes perfect sense. I get it.

Gabi: Yeah, yeah, I always love your input. So supportive.

Rafe: But you were just saying that Chad was all that and a bag of chips.

Gabi: Oh, stop. Please don't say that. People don't say that anymore. Yes, he's all that, but it's not--

Rafe: So, it's what? It's not what? What--

Gabi: He takes up too much of my time, and I need to work on my blog. I need to extend my client list.

Rafe: Okay, but don't you think that you would extend your client list by consulting with someone as connected as Chad is?

Dario: I think it's a smart move.

Rafe: All right, right, yeah, of course, 'cause he knows so much about image consulting.

Gabi: How are you, Dario? How are you doing?

Dario: I'm good.

Gabi: Changing the subject here.

Rafe: You know, it's funny. I feel like I have a natural talent for entrepreneurship. There's--there's lots of challenges, but the potential is huge.

Rafe: So, how's it going with dad? You guys getting along, or?

Dario: It's good.

Rafe: It's good?

Dario: It's better than I thought.

Gabi: That's great. That's great to hear. We were just talking about how Chad's been helping Rafe with hope's case, and how they think they have a shot at an appeal.

Dario: I hope so, man.

Rafe: I hope so too, because the sooner she gets out of there, the better.

Ortiz: If you have any questions, Brady here knows her way around.

Hope: Not really.

Ortiz: What I'm saying is you can trust her. That's not true of all inmates.

[Over radio] 319 on tier B. 319 on tier B.

Ortiz: Take care of her, okay?

Annabelle: What's a 319?

Hope: Some inmates are having a disagreement. So, what are you in for?

Annabelle: Forging prescriptions, selling pills. I'm scared.

Hope: Yeah, well, you'd be a fool if you weren't. You got to learn fast how to lose that and cover it up, because people in here can smell fear. But the good news is that new girls stick together. Don't worry. I'll have your back. See the one back there in the corner? They call her goldilocks. Met her once. Stay away from her and her friend coco. They're really bad news. I have asthma...

Gabi: Rafe, relax. I'm sure Mami's gonna love anything you get her.

Rafe: Even if it's ugly?

[Gabi laughs]

Rafe: Okay, just look at it and tell me that it's not ugly, all right? That the colors don't clash or whatever. I'm just not really good with this stuff.

Gabi: Fine, okay, I'll go. Hey, will you check-- just watch my stuff?

Dario: What, you don't want my opinion?

Rafe: Well, you're the same guy that gave her a sweater that played "Feliz Navidad," so no, not really.

Dario: I was nine.

[Dramatic music]

[Baby crying]

Jennifer: Pat him on the back. He probably just has a little burp or something. [Crying stops] See that?

Abigail: It's okay.

Jennifer: There you go. He's okay.

Abigail: [Breathing deeply]

Jennifer: And you're okay. It's gonna be okay. It's all gonna be okay.

JJ: Something wrong?

Abigail: No, I'm just trying to find that little stuffed lamb. I was gonna give it to Thomas. I just feel like it would be nice if I could approach him slowly. I thought it would be a nice-- a nice ice-breaker.

JJ: I don't think there's any ice. But I don't know where the lamb went. I know Doug found it on the lawn, but I don't have any idea where he put it.

Abigail: Damn it.

JJ: I know he's hitting golf balls at some indoor driving range. Look, I'll give him a call. No. I'll go over there. Call me crazy, but calling about a toy lamb might raise a flag.

Abigail: As opposed to driving across town to ask about a toy lamb?

JJ: Well, then I'll grab a club and a bucket of balls and steer the conversation to toy lambs on the lawn. You know, subtle-like. My strong suit. Listen, go do whatever it is you need to do, and when I get back, I'll know what's up.

Abigail: Mm-hmm. You're my hero.

JJ: What I am is really, really happy.

Abigail: Oh, hey, um, you know what? Don't mention the lamb. I'll just--I'll take care of it myself.

Gabi: Just what do you think you're doing?

Louis: He seems like a very sweet little boy. I can tell you've been very kind to him.

Chad: Yeah, well, thankfully, I've had a lot of help. There were a lot of people that loved Abigail. I mean, she was--she was a real--you know, I mean, family above everything else, which started with her great grandparents--

Louis: Oh, yeah, I knew them. Wonderful people.

Chad: Have you--so, you've seen the plaque in the town square?

Louis: I was there for the unveiling.

Chad: Really? Well, I wanted to do something like that for Abby. Somewhere that I could take Thomas and we could talk to her and connect with her and tell her how much we love her, as well as something for the public, for everyone who else-- everyone else who loved her to be able to see her.

Louis: I think it's a wonderful idea.

Chad: So, um, I commissioned this and got the permit, 'cause, you know, we don't have a grave site.

[Instrumental music]

Louis: It's lovely.

Chad: It's, um-- it's an angel. That's the way I saw her, so.

Louis: Angels are considered messengers from god. They represent goodness, selflessness.

Chad: That was her. She's just--she was taken away too soon.

Coco: Ooh, you're right. She is a pretty young thing.

Hope: Hey, back off! Get away from her. Leave her alone.

Sheila: Oh, so, we're poaching your territory? But you ain't getting her without a fight.

Dario: I was looking for a pen. Looks like you have everything else you need in there.

Gabi: Well, you never go through a woman's purse. It's off-limits. Rafe was right. I have to go return this. It's way too big. Okay?

Dario: Okay. Still need it?

Dario: Yes. Thank you.

Rafe: So, how's Adrienne doing?

Justin: It's hard to tell. She's playing everything very close to the vest. I'm actually glad to be working on hope's appeal. Keeps me from feeling completely useless.

Rafe: How's that going?

Justin: Well, even if I could prove that Stefano engineered his own murder, I'm having a hard time finding a case precedent.

Rafe: And how important is that?

Justin: Well, it would really help, but I think the evidence of his medical condition coupled with Harold's deposition is strong.

Rafe: But hope did pull the trigger.

Justin: Under extreme duress, deliberately provoked. All in all, I think hope's appeal is strong.

Rafe: Well, I can't wait to tell hope that. She needs all the good news she can get.

[Chairs clamoring]

Hope: [Grunts]

Annabelle: Help! Stop! Somebody!

Coco: How's that feel, bitch? Huh? Come on, get up.

Annabelle: They started it. She was just looking out for me.

Ortiz: I'll have a medic check you out.

Annabelle: Thank you so much. Are you okay?

Hope: Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. This isn't over, though.

Chad: You know, I just wish you had had more time with your mom, you know, so you could've had your own memories with her. God, did she love you. You know, the first time I saw your mom, I thought she was the most perfect, beautiful thing I'd ever seen in the world. When she had you in her arms, when she would look down at you, that was something. Her eyes. I sent her away because I just-- I wanted her to be her again. There was more fear in her eyes than love... I thought. I'd give anything to tell her I love her one more time.

Chad: You know, and I know that I'm never gonna get that chance again. I think I've--I think I've come to grips with that, accepted it. Father Louis is right, you know, you and me, we got to move on with our life, little man. We got to try to-- we got to try to get it going. And if we want to talk to your mom or spend time with her, then we're just gonna come here. We're gonna be able to do it any time we want. We just got to--we got to-- we got to try to move on. I don't-- I don't know if I'm ever gonna be able to love anyone the way I loved your mother, but I know she would want me to try. She would want us to be happy. That's exactly what we're gonna do.

Thomas: Daddy.

Chad: I know. I know. Come on. Come on.

Abigail: [Sobs]

Chad: Hello?

Dario: So, how are things with you and JJ?

Gabi: Good.

Dario: Yeah, you keeping him on a short leash?

Gabi: No.

Dario: Really? After what he did to you, Gabi?

Gabi: No, we're trying to rebuild trust, and you can't do that on a short leash.

Dario: How about an invisible fence?

Gabi: You know, I love getting relationship advice from you, because you've had such long, healthy, wonderful relationships. How many have they--

Dario: I guess I shouldn't have said anything.

Gabi: Yeah, like that ever happens.

JJ: Hey, I didn't see you guys. Hey, Dario.

Gabi: Hey.

JJ: You still up for our date?

Gabi: Yeah, I just have to do some work for my blog first.

JJ: Oh, no problem. I still have some stuff to do at the house. I just stopped by to pick this up.

Gabi: Wow, you must be starving--that's a huge order.

JJ: No, it's for me and my mom. All right, so let me know when you're done working, all right? Good to see you, Dario.

Gabi: Do you see how sweet he is? I know he's not gonna make that mistake again.

Dario: No, of course not. He gave you his word, right?

Gabi: Yeah.

Dario: 'Cause guys never make promises they can't keep.

[Dramatic music]

André: You need to trust me and do exactly what I tell you right up to the time you need to reemerge.

Abigail: I can't, no. Chad is gonna hate me.

André: No, no, no. Let me handle Chad. I'll soften him. Abigail, I'm sure. And then when it is time, you're both gonna be reunited. [Laughs] But you have to hurry, because you don't have a lot of time, okay? You wanted to talk to me?

Chad: Yeah, yeah, I wanted to show you.

André: Ah. Ah, well, it's a moving tribute. It's absolutely lovely. I don't believe, actually, that she's gone.

Chad: Yeah, I know. You know, sometimes I get this feeling like she's so nearby. Does that sound crazy?

André: No, not at all. No, maybe there's a reason why you felt that, that you sense something.

Chad: So, what did you want to tell me?

André: Yes, well, um, full disclosure, Chad: What I wanted to say to you is-- is that I've kept something from you, but know that my-- my intentions were honorable.

Chad: Yeah. [Laughs] Aren't they always?

André: Oh, Chad. What I'm going to tell you is gonna change everything.

Abigail: [Gasping, panting] [Screams]

Dario: Abigail, whoa! Whoa, Abigail, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. It's me. Hey, you're all right. Abigail, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. It's okay.

Abigail: [Crying]

Dario: It's okay. You're safe. Just--shh, shh, shh. Just breathe, just breathe, just breathe.

Abigail: [Crying] (Man) my dad and I have the same eyes.

Ortiz: You really held your own with those two.

Hope: I hope they got the point.

Ortiz: The point?

Hope: That they're amateurs.

Ortiz: Even if they did get it, I'm not sure they'll be backing down.

Hope: Neither am I.

Ortiz: It's funny. Even in here, under these circumstances, you're still, deep down, a cop. Still protecting people. The newbie told me about you protecting her. Seems you earned a special privilege.

Hope: Really? Oh, my gosh, thank you.

Ortiz: That's the video chat.

Hope: Thanks.

Ortiz: By the way, you've got a pretty nasty bruise forming there.

Hope: Oh, thank you. I don't want to scare her. Thanks, Ortiz.

[Phone beeps]

Hope: Hey, Ciara. Hi, sweetie. It's mom. I just wanted you to know that I'm fine, and... I love you, baby. Um, okay, I guess I will just try you again later. Bye.

[Phone ringing]

Rafe: Hope, how the heck did you pull this off?

Hope: Friends looking out for me.

Rafe: Well, whoever the heck it is, thank them, because this just made my day.

Hope: Yeah, mine too.

Rafe: This is also great timing, because I just spoke with Justin, and he says he has good news about your appeal. He thinks it's gonna go through.

Hope: Really?

Rafe: Yes, really. I think we can all be cautiously optimistic.

Hope: You're right. That is good news.

Chad: All right, so, what? What's the big news?

André: [Sighs] I've been working on a program that has the potential to restore our family to its former power--technology that can and will revolutionize our company.

Chad: Wow, and do you also have swampland in Florida?

André: [Laughs] I just knew you were gonna be skeptical. I've been working on this program, and I can access cameras--any cameras-- phone cameras, computer cameras. I can actually locate anyone in this world within hours. Now, others have dabbled in this technology, but what I'm doing is a game-changer.

Chad: That's how you found Weston and Orpheus.

André: Exactly.

Chad: Interesting. Why the hell didn't you use it when Abby escaped from shady hills?

André: Because it wasn't ready--not at that time.

Chad: Okay. I mean, yeah, I can see the incredible potential. Why'd you wait till now to tell me?

André: I told Kate. She insisted I tell you.

Chad: Yeah. In my own defense, I've been working on this long before I joined DiMera enterprises. It's been just a long, complicated process. I didn't even know if it was gonna pay off.

Chad: I mean, it's an incredibly powerful tool. In the wrong hands, easily abused.

André: Well, we have to make sure that doesn't happen.

Chad: Yeah. Okay. Well, I mean, if you came up with it before you came back, then it's your property. Neither I nor DiMera have any claim to it.

André: I keep telling you: I'm committed to DiMera. Not just the company, but the family. But there is, as usual, a small catch.

JJ: Let me give you a hand.

Jennifer: Oh, yeah, here. Thanks, honey. I bought every dress in Abigail's size, and whatever she doesn't like, she can just take back.

JJ: So, she hasn't changed yet?

Jennifer: No, that's impossible--I just got back.

JJ: Mom, she's not here. I though she left to see Chad.

Jennifer: What? Did she leave a note?

JJ: No, and I checked the whole house. I kept telling myself that she was with you, that you were driving her.

Jennifer: Yeah, well, it's probably not a big deal. Maybe--maybe she realized that Chad is not gonna care what she's wearing. She's--she's probably in his arms right now.

Abigail: [Sobbing]

Dario: Just take a deep breath.

Abigail: [Breathing deeply]

Dario: You're okay. Okay?

Abigail: I just--I'm out of control, like I'm spinning.

Dario: Okay, it's all right. You had a panic attack, okay? You ever had one of those before?

Abigail: Yeah, a lot. It's just that pretending to be dead is actually a lot more stressful than you would imagine. [Breathing deeply]

Dario: You have any idea what may have triggered this?

Abigail: I made a horrible mistake. I made a horrible mistake, and I don't know if I can undo it.

Hope: Will you indulge me?

Rafe: Nothing I'd rather do.

Hope: I don't want to talk about the appeal, and I don't want to talk about the case.

Rafe: Okay, what would you like to talk about?

Hope: What you and I would be doing if I weren't in here.

Rafe: Wow, well, there are a lot of options. We could go camping again.

Hope: I don't think you could top our last outing. Alone in the wilds of the Horton town square, huh?

Rafe: That is a good point. Yeah. The majesty of the great outdoors, yeah. You know what I'm thinking? A little luxury. We could go to that hotel. You know, that one on Mackinac Island? Sit out there on the porch, you're at one with nature drinking a little wine and trying to decide whether you want trout or the filet mignon.

Hope: Does our room have a fireplace?

Rafe: Why, yes, I believe it does have a fireplace.

Hope: Oh, god. A fire, us together. Definitely sounds like heaven.

Rafe: What--what happened to you?

JJ: I have been waiting so long for a night like this.

Gabi: Me too.

JJ: To second chances.

Gabi: Second chances.

[Glasses clink]

[Line trilling]

Gabi: Hey, JJ, it's me. I finished work sooner than I thought. I was thinking I was gonna stop by your house. So, I'll see you soon. Okay.

Chad: I knew there would be a catch. Enlighten me.

André: Okay. I have an opportunity to sell the technology to the highest bidder. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out. The only problem is someone caught wind of what I was doing, and they stole some-- some of my plans and microchips from our plant in china.

Chad: Okay, so, that's why you've decided to tell me now.

André: Not at all. The reason I delayed in telling you was because I wanted it to be a fait accompli so I can prove to you that I am an asset to this company. It's not my fault someone stole the resources. But anyway, Kate is using her resources to find out whoever did this.

Chad: Before they have the chance to work out the kinks and beat you to the punch.

André: Right. The race is on. And the stakes are sky-high.

Rafe: Listen, it's probably not as bad as you think. You can talk to me. I'm not gonna tell anybody.

Abigail: You just don't want me to tell anybody about your illegal activities.

Dario: Listen, before you leave here, I need to make sure that you're okay, so whether you tell me or not, I'm gonna make sure you're all right.

Abigail: I ran into Chad, and he had made a memorial for me, and he was telling Thomas all kinds of beautiful things about me.

Dario: Okay, well, that's not--that's not something to get upset about.

Abigail: And then-- and then he said he'd moved on, that he had accepted that I was dead, and he took off his ring.

Dario: That's because he has no choice but to move on because he doesn't know the truth.

Abigail: That's what I kept telling myself--I did. But I just-- [Sobs] And then I started to walk toward him--I was going toward him, and I was walking toward-- toward Thomas, and-- [Crying] The panic, it's just--it's-- I started to fall into this blackness, and I wanted to walk toward him--I did. And I couldn't. I just felt like all I could do was run away. I just had to run away.

Dario: It's okay. It's okay.

Abigail: Thank you. Don't just eat yogurt... wear it.

Rafe: Who did that to you?

Hope: Some new friends of mine. But trust me. They look a hell of a lot worse than I do.

Rafe: "They"? I hate this.

Ortiz: Sorry. I need my phone back.

Hope: I got to go.

Rafe: I love you.

Abigail: I thought I was done running, but I guess not.

Dario: Okay, okay, you panicked, all right? But that doesn't mean that you can't do this, or that it's too late. You just told me that Chad said some beautiful things about you. What did the memorial say?

Abigail: I couldn't really see it, but there was an angel.

Dario: An angel. Okay, so, he thinks you're an angel. Don't you think he'd be glad to see you? Go back. Go back to him and tell him that you love him. The minute he lays eyes on you, he's gonna be the happiest man on earth.

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, you-- you're--maybe you're right. I guess I kind of overreacted a little bit. I do--I need to go back and I need to tell him the truth. The sooner, the better. Thank you.

Dario: Yeah. Go.

André: I hope you understand one day that as my brother, there is nothing that I wouldn't do to help you.

Chad: Which is why I'm gonna help you. This program has unlimited potential. Considering I don't have a social life at the moment, I can really focus on business.

André: Hmm. Thank you.

Chad: So, start from the beginning. Tell me everything.

JJ: I don't understand it. Why would she go see Chad without-- wait a minute.

Jennifer: What?

JJ: No, she was looking for that little toy lamb, said that she had to have something to give Thomas to break the ice, and then she said that she'd take care of it.

Jennifer: Oh, god, I hope she didn't run away again, JJ. She's so fragile right now.

JJ: Mom, I know, but this morning, she seemed better, stronger. And when she gets back with Chad, she'll really start getting stronger. I just hope that it's soon, because I don't know how much longer I can keep this secret from Gabi. I know I have to, okay? Gabi can't know about her.
