Episode #12961 ~ Gabi learns a shocking truth; Jade blindsides Joey with her news; Brady calls Kimberly, asking her if there's any way she can help him deal with Theresa; Theresa & JJ have an unexpected encounter.

Provided By Suzanne

Brady: I don't understand. What-- what do you mean it's time I knew the truth?

Kimberly: Oh, well, Brady, I know how hard this is on you.

Brady: But it doesn't make any sense. Theresa, she's regressing, Kimberly. She's getting angry. She's getting belligerent. She's getting rebellious. You should hear the things that are coming out of her mouth.

Kimberly: I can only imagine.

Brady: So I'm gonna ask you this. If you know something about your daughter, please tell me right now.

Theresa: [Crying] Well, I guess it's true what they say. You are an all-forgiving god, because, so far, I haven't been struck by lightning... and the altar hasn't turned into a dunk tank, and I'm pretty sure I deserve both. So... I'm sure you know this, but I'm not much of a church-goer, so... yet, here I am... when I need something. I just-- I didn't know where else to turn. You know, I thought I had it figured out. A way to protect Tate and Brady, and eventually find my way back to them. [Crying] And now I'm not so sure that my plan's gonna work at all. And-- please... Brady is--he's too loving, and he's too forgiving, and he's too patient. I guess what I really need from you is just guidance, and most of all strength, please.

[Footsteps]

JJ: Theresa Donovan praying?

Chad: [Laughs]

Gabi: What?

Chad: I mean, I just-- I couldn't have done it without you. I'm serious. I mean it.

Gabi: You keep saying that, but I really didn't do that much.

Chad: Are you kidding me? Because of you, that deal has been signed, sealed...

Gabi: Delivered?

Chad: Delivered, right? You know, and the way you handled them, it was just--

Gabi: It was fun. I'll admit, it was fun.

Chad: Come on. I mean, yes, it was fun, but it was... it was... you know, it was very helpful. I mean, not helpful. Nay, it was invaluable. And leaving the party with JJ to come and hang out with me and them, it was-- I can't thank you enough.

Gabi: But you can do a favor for me, right?

Chad: Oh, is that right?

Gabi: Yes, you can, because this right here, this beautiful pie, you need to take it with you, because if I have one more slice of this pie, I can't it into that gorgeous dress you got me. Please?

Chad: I have a better idea. Move.

Gabi: What? [Laughs]

[Ominous music]

Brady: Look, Kim, I know all about Theresa's history, that her life in California was a mess. I know that when she came to Salem here, she had bad jobs, she had bad relationships. Hell, when we first got together, things were a mess with us too. But you have to understand something. It's different now. It's all changed. We changed.

Kimberly: Oh, I know.

Brady: And it's been great the last couple of months. I mean, she's never been happier.

Kimberly: But I think that may be the problem.

Brady: What is?

Kimberly: Her feeling so happy, her being so loved. I mean, there's one thing that hasn't changed, is her self-esteem. I mean, it's still so low that she may feel she doesn't deserve to be happy. That could be why she keeps sabotaging it.

Brady: Well, then someone needs to make her see that. She won't listen to me. She won't see a therapist. Kim, do you think you could get through to her?

JJ: I'm tempted to take a pic and Instagram it. No one's gonna believe it. But I can even Photoshop a little halo over your head. Cute.

Theresa: Wait, didn't you just get shot? Shouldn't you be taking it easy?

JJ: I was going a little crazy, so I volunteered to drop off some donations for my mom from the Horton center. Are you okay? You've been crying.

Theresa: I'd really rather not talk about it, okay? You know what, besides, why do you care, JJ? It's not like we're friends, is it?

JJ: Okay, Theresa, I know the both of us were in a really bad place when you came back to town, and I'm now willing to own my major part in that. And since then, you and I have both tried really hard to find a new way. And you--you've done a complete 180. You've got this great thing going on with Brady and your sweet little kid.

Theresa: Yeah, well, you know what, surfaces can be deceiving, JJ.

JJ: What is that supposed to mean?

Theresa: It means, no matter how strong I was, no matter how motivated I was to change, underneath I'm still the same pathetic loser that I always was. And eventually all the horrible things that I have done have come back to haunt me. There's just no escaping them.

JJ: Is that why you're so upset?

Theresa: Yeah.

JJ: Then who better to talk to about your screw-ups than another member of the club?

Theresa: I can't.

JJ: Okay, I get it. I just figured, after all we've been through, the least I could do is listen.

Theresa: I'm sorry, I'm just really, really having a hard time with someone being nice to me right now.

JJ: Okay, okay. For what it's worth... I'm sorry. I really am.

Chad: Hey, I need a bouquet of flowers, like a special bouquet.

Okay.

Chad: Not a special bouquet of flowers, but she's special, so...

Great.

Chad: And can I get it with some lavender?

A lavender bouquet coming right up for the young man in love.

[Phone beeping]

Claire: Wow, Mr. Popularity. What's going on? Why aren't you answering her?

Joey: Here's why. 2:30 this morning, "you awake? I can't sleep? Want to sext?" This morning, I'm barely out of the shower, "where were you last night?" Then, I'm having breakfast with my mom. I got so many texts from her, I had to turn my phone off.

Claire: Okay, look, I'm so sorry. It's killing me. I just have to look.

Joey: I'm scared to ask.

Claire: Oh. Let's just say that, um... the sexting option is off the table. Her parents are out for the night, and she wants you to come over. And you can lose the "t-I-n-G."

Joey: I feel like I'm being cyber-stalked.

Claire: Well, what are you gonna do?

Joey: I have to-- I have to break up with her. I can't keep putting it off.

Claire: Hey, do you want me to try and talk to her first?

Joey: You? What would you say?

Claire: I mean, I don't know. I could just kind of, like, warn her that you're not ready for a serious relationship and soften the blow a little bit so it won't come as such a surprise.

Joey: Really? Do you think that would work?

Claire: Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying that I'm actually gonna drop the bomb or anything, but just, like, be your ambassador.

Joey: Please. Thank you.

Claire: Anything for the cuz.

[Phone beeps]

Kimberly: No, I don't know, Brady. It's not gonna be that easy getting through to Theresa. See, my greatest fear, her past may become her future, because these patterns, they're so ingrained. It's just, Theresa may never be able to change.

Brady: Never be able to-- Kim, that's the most pessimistic view. And you're wrong, by the way. You're completely wrong, because she has changed. Kim, for god's sakes, I mean, you've told me yourself that you were ashamed of the years that you've lost with her, that you wish you could have been there for her. Well, now is your chance. Break the cycle. Please. Just come here to Salem and talk to her, please.

Kimberly: Okay. Okay, Brady. I'll do the best I can. Okay. I'll take the first flight out. Okay.

Brady: Thank you. Thank you. You'll send me all the details, when you're arriving?

Kimberly: You bet, sure thing. And, Brady, take care, honey.

Brady: You too, Kim. I'll see you soon.

Victor: What did Kimberly have to say?

Brady: Nothing that good, actually. She's pretty pessimistic about everything.

Victor: Any improvement in the situation?

Brady: No, quite the opposite. Things have gone from bad to worse, granddad. But she's gonna fly in, and, even though she thinks it's a hopeless task, she's gonna come in and talk to Theresa. And hopefully she'll be able to get to her.

Victor: Well, don't hold your breath.

JJ: You're not alone, you know. I'm still making the same stupid mistakes I've made in the past. I thought I'd turned a corner, but I still seem to be the same screw-up I've always been. It's just, it's me, I guess. My default mode.

Theresa: Hey, stop. Don't be so hard on yourself, JJ. You're a cop now, right? So you put away the bad guys. Remember? So...

JJ: Not everything bad is a criminal offense.

Theresa: Hey, you're not still beating yourself up over that whole eve-Paige fiasco, are you?

JJ: I'm not proud of it, but no, I'm talking about the new and improved mistakes I've managed to make recently.

Theresa: Oh, please, please, please, just tell me all about them, anything to keep my mind off my horrible problems. And don't spare any detail, okay? Make it as vivid and as lurid and as horrible as possible. Please?

JJ: I'd rather not.

Theresa: Talk about it? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Fair is fair.

JJ: Look, I've got this great thing going on with Gabi. And I'm afraid if she finds out-- how are you supposed to tell someone when you know it's gonna hurt them so badly?

Theresa: Well... first of all... doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out your grave mistake. But...look, since we've decided to respect each other's privacy, I'll leave it alone.

JJ: I'd appreciate it.

Theresa: Yeah.

JJ: So what should I do?

Theresa: Oh, JJ. You have to tell her. You have to own up to it, okay? Just own up to your mistake. Everybody makes mistakes, JJ. It'll be so much worse if she hears it from somebody else.

JJ: Yeah, I know. You're right, I know.

Theresa: Well, god knows I'm not one to give a lecture. But if there's any way that I could be honest with Brady right now... [Crying] It would be the best thing that ever happened to us.

JJ: You can't be honest with--

Theresa: No. No, not this time. I can't, but, you know, it's not too late for you, JJ. You have to. You have to tell her, okay? Please, please, just tell her. Tell her the truth. It's the only way that you can move forward with your relationship. And it is the only road that can possibly lead to...freedom. Freedom to love without guilt. [Crying] And...on that note... my sermon is finished.

JJ: Theresa... I want that freedom, more than anything else in the world.

Theresa: Okay. Please, JJ, just remember, no matter what horrible mistakes we've made in the past when we weren't able to do the right thing, it doesn't mean that we can't do the right thing now.

JJ: That's true.

Theresa: Look, I really need to be alone right now, JJ.

JJ: Okay. Theresa...

Theresa: Mm-hmm?

JJ: Thank you. I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help to you, but I'm glad I ran into you today.

Theresa: Oh, god...

JJ: Because you helped me so much.

Theresa: Good, good. Good, good, good, good. Good. I'm so glad that I could help someone. [Sobbing] Oh, god.

Victor: I'm sorry, Brady. Under the circumstances, that was an insensitive remark.

Brady: No, no, it's fine. I'm getting used to them by now.

Victor: Understand, I wasn't putting Theresa down. I have very little confidence in that mother of hers. You know, we have bad history that goes way back.

Brady: Yeah, I know you do. Well, I don't have much confidence in anything right now, so... all I do know is, I'm not gonna let Theresa destroy herself. And I'm gonna--probably the first thing I need to do is get all the booze out of this house. What? Why are you looking at me like that?

Victor: I didn't want to say anything at the time, but during the siege, the liquor decanters were empty every morning. Now, granted, we had a lot of drinkers in the house, nerves to be quelled. But Henderson said he saw Theresa more than once knocking back a few, and then a few more.

Brady: Damn it.

Victor: Probably her way of dealing with stress.

Brady: I didn't see it. How could I be so oblivious to it? Why would I take all of the liquor out of the house, right? She's a grown woman. If she wants it, she's gonna find a way to get it someplace else, and not just booze.

Victor: I'm sorry you have to go through this, Brady. I really am. Now you're giving me the look?

Brady: It's the way you've been looking at me. You're not yourself, granddad.

Victor: What are you talking about?

Brady: It's like you know more than you're saying.

Victor: What more could either one of us know? I mean, Theresa is a screwed-up little bitch.

Brady: There it is.

Victor: Now, look, I try to be sensitive to your distress, but you have to face the facts. I mean, the woman is a very good showman. She puts on a very nice show. She's a devoted wife and mother. But it's just that, Brady. It's a show. Now she's showing her true self. And you have to be able to deal with that.

Brady: I guess I do. You know what, I'm relieved.

Victor: Relieved?

Brady: Yeah. Now that Theresa's regressed, I'm relieved that this isn't some kind of a conspiracy.

Victor: What do you mean?

Brady: Everyone's been acting strange around me. It's like they know something that I don't. It's got me a little paranoid, to be honest with you.

Victor: It's understandable.

Brady: I need to get out of here. I'll see you soon.

Victor: No, Brady, you're not paranoid.

Chad: Thank you.

Claire: Hey, jade, wait up.

Jade: I can't. I'm looking for Joey.

Claire: Hey, no. I actually just left him, and that's why I'm here.

Jade: That's good news. At least I know he hasn't fallen off the face of the earth.

Claire: Yeah, no, he hasn't. Look, jade... I know how close you and Joey were.

Jade: Were?

Claire: And I know how much you care about him, which is why I thought that we should talk.

Jade: Talk about what? Just tell him to respond to my texts.

Claire: Jade, I was just with Joey, and you must have sent him like 25 texts in a half hour. Like, it's just too much.

Jade: So tell him to answer me.

Claire: Yeah, but he doesn't want to. Don't you get it? I think if he wanted to, he would.

Jade: Okay, what are you trying to tell me?

Claire: Joey really just needs to be taking care of himself right now, okay, which is why he's not really looking for anything serious, as in the whole couple thing.

Jade: Okay, a) this is really none of your business, and b) you're completely wrong. Joey and I are a couple already.

Claire: Jade, are you sure about that?

Jade: Of course I am. What now?

Claire: Okay. Jade, look, I think the whole idea that you and Joey are some sort of big-deal relationship, I think that that's in your head and it's not really in reality. You know, look, I'm just saying that maybe you should slow things down for a little while, 'cause needy is not a very attractive color on you, or anyone for that matter. You know, you're like one heart emoji away from qualifying as a literal stalker.

Jade: I'll be fine, okay? And thanks for playing life coach and all, but you're completely misreading vibes.

Claire: Jade, I'm sorry.

Jade: Look, I know it's really early to start planning for the future, but...

Claire: God, please don't say yolo.

Jade: I'm thinking of your grandparents. Joey told me that they met when they were our age.

Claire: Yes, yes, they did, and it was completely epic. But, you know, for every couple like that that does make it, there are just hundreds that don't. And if it's not meant to be, well, it's not really something that you can force, jade. That rarely happens in the real world.

Jade: Okay, there is no forcing... because it's already happened. Joey and I are meant to be together. I feel it, and I know it.

Gabi: [Laughs] Chad, thank you. They're beautiful, wow. Oh, and you remembered that I love lavender. Thank you.

Chad: Yeah, it's starting to grow on me a little bit.

Gabi: But you didn't have to do this. I work for you, remember? It's my job.

Chad: Yeah, well, you went far beyond the call of duty.

Gabi: Still, I mean, the gorgeous dress and the flowers. I'm happy to help, so no more gifts.

Chad: Well, how about... one more?

Gabi: [Laughs] That's so silly.

Chad: Can I?

Gabi: Yes. [Giggles]

[Dramatic music]

Ok! Impaciente!

Gabi: What do you think?

Chad: Well...here.

Gabi: All right, now you have something. Oh.

Chad: Oh, it fell out a little bit, hold on. Now that--yeah, that looks nice.

Gabi: Thank you. You're a sweet boss.

Chad: I mean, I'm more than that.

Gabi: Really? [Laughs slightly]

Brady: What are you doing here? Last time we were here, you couldn't get out of here fast enough.

Theresa: Brady, what, are you spying on me? How'd you know I was here? Did you install one of those find your phone apps on my phone so you could track my every move, huh?

Brady: No, Theresa, I'm not tracking you, okay? I was off to go to Anne Milbauer's place to see if you were there, and I happened to see your car in the parking lot. You want to answer my question now? Why are you here?

Theresa: I... I was looking for an AA leader, someone who could remind you to accept the things that you cannot change. Brady, you don't get to tell me where to go or what to do or who I hang out with. You know what, just back off me.

Brady: Stop lying. You're lying to me. I know you, and you're lying to me right now, Theresa. The fact that you're here by yourself means you're crying for help. And, by god, whether you like it or not, I'm going to help you. maybe it's that you're jealous. You've got to get a grip.

Claire: Whoa, jade, okay. You've got to get a grip. See, I know Joey really well, and I just do not think that you guys are on the same page.

Jade: Okay, you couldn't be more wrong. Maybe it's that you're jealous. That you don't have a boyfriend, that you just want everyone to be as alone as you are.

Claire: Oh, my god, no. God, that is not it at all.

Jade: Well, whatever "it" is, I don't want to hear about it anymore. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go plan my future.

Theresa: Oh, you want to help me, Brady. But you can't, 'cause I don't want help-- from you or anybody else.

Brady: Honey, you can push me away all you want. It's not gonna work, okay? Because I am not giving up on you.

Theresa: I have to go.

Brady: Look, stop. Theresa, look at me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry if I haven't been there the way that you've needed me to be. I love you with all my heart. I really do. And I'm gonna spend every minute of every day making this up to you.

Theresa: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you to, Brady. You know what, I don't want your whole white night act. That's your thing with every woman that you've ever been with--Chloe and Nicole, Kristen, summer, even me. But you know what? You can't help me, Brady, okay? So just do me a favor and cross me off your "damsels in distress" list, all right? 'Cause what I need--what I need is space, and I need room to breathe.

Brady: What you need is me. What you need is me. And I will always love you, and you need to let me!

Chad: I mean, I do think that our relationship goes beyond employer-employee. We're friends. Good friends, old friends.

Gabi: Yeah. Yes, you're right. High school friends. And good friends have to be honest with one another, right?

[Phone beeps]

Gabi: Sorry. JJ actually has to see me right away. Guess I'm gonna head out.

Chad: Wait, you-- you forgot your flowers.

Claire: Okay, it was like talking to a brick wall. I'm warning you, Joey, you're gonna have to be loud and forceful and in her face. Subtle is not a language that that woman speaks.

Joey: What does that mean?

Claire: I mean that you're gonna have to make her shut up and listen to you, and then you're gonna have to be brutal, or she's not gonna get the message, because she just, like, doesn't want to hear it.

Joey: Well, thanks for trying.

Claire: Yeah, no problem. If I were you, I'd just get it done sooner rather than later and get it over with, unless you want a couple more thousand texts from her.

Joey: I don't. It's driving me crazy.

Claire: Well, let me know how it goes, okay?

Joey: Yeah, sure. [Exhales]

Gabi: Hey, hey. I got here as quickly as I could. I was worried that maybe you overdid it at the party, because I know you're supposed to be resting, and--

JJ: No, no, no, no. No, it's nothing like that. I'm okay physically. Why don't we sit down? Let's just sit down real quick.

Gabi: Okay.

JJ: Come on. I've been wanting to tell you something... something that's been on my mind for a while now. And I don't know why I didn't say anything. Actually, I do, because... it's hard. It's really hard. I'm not sure where to start.

Gabi: Okay. JJ, you're scaring me. What's going on?

Theresa: I really, really have to go, Brady. I really, really have to go.

Brady: Listen, listen. Just listen to me, please. You told me that I was the only person who ever really knew you. You told me that you loved Tate and me more than anyone else in the world. And you told me you would die for either one of us. Now that we're in this church and I'm here with you, baby, let's just make it official. I want to get my friends and our family and our son, and I want to stand in front of them, including god, and just tell everyone that I love you, and I want to repeat those vows right here. Baby...I love you so much. I love you so much.

Jade: Oh, my god. There you are. I was getting so worried. Why haven't you been answering my texts?

Joey: Jade, listen...

Jade: Joey, oh, my god, I missed you so much. When I was away, I thought I was gonna go crazy. And then I come home on Halloween. We have so much fun, in so many more ways than one. And you up and disappear on me, the one and only person I want to spend my time with.

Joey: Jade, jade, I need you to listen to me, please.

Jade: But, Joey, I--

Joey: That means I talk, and you listen, okay? We need to get something straight. I've been thinking a lot about you and me. And, well, I just don't see it working out for the two of us.

Jade: Stop. Just stop right there and don't say one more word, because I have something I need to tell you too.

Joey: Don't you get it, jade? I'm telling you, I want to break up with you.

Jade: Well, you can't, because I'm pregnant.

Brady: I love her so much. God, I love her so much. I can't help her, though. Tell me what to do.

Theresa: [Shuddering] Oh, god. [Crying] [Screams] [Shuddering] Please.

[Clattering]

JJ: Do you have any idea how much I love you?

Gabi: I know.

JJ: I would never want to hurt for anything in the world, and I've been such a screw-up these past few years. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world, to even have you in my life. You made me feel amazing when I was down in this past year. When I lost Abigail, I couldn't-- I lost it. And I was so far away.

Gabi: Hey, hey, it's okay. It's okay. Just slow down. Take a breath. What is it? What is it that you want to tell me? What's going on?

JJ: I can't lie to you any longer, Gabi. It's not fair to you, and you deserve the truth. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I cheated on you.

Chad: What's happening to your old man?

[Phone ringing]

Chad: Yeah? Brad, hey, just give me one second, okay?

[Baby snoring]

[Snoring continues]

[Ominous music]
