Episode #12958 ~ Brady is thrown by Theresa's behavior; Gabi comes to Chad's rescue; André receives unsettling news from Laura; Steve proposes to Kayla.

Provided By Suzanne

Kayla: You know, I don't know why you insisted on coming with me. You know, you're gonna be bored.

Steve: Oh, you're the antidote to boredom.

Kayla: Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, you're just gonna be watching me measure the altar so that I can reassure Adrienne for the 4,000th time that the flowers we ordered are gonna fit tomorrow.

Steve: I don't mind. Whither thou goest...

Kayla: What?

Steve: We're in a church. I'm speaking the language. If you'll excuse me...

Kayla: [Laughs] Are you lighting a candle?

Steve: Yep. I got to thank the man upstairs for keeping you safe. You and Marlena are finally safe from Orpheus.

Kayla: Hallelujah.

Steve: Who's yours for?

Kayla: Hope. I just hope that the judge shows her some compassion. She wasn't in her right mind the day that she shot Stefano.

Steve: No. But the truth is, she did the world a service. And I'm sure that judge will be briefed on everything Stefano did to her and her family all those years. I wouldn't be surprised if she walks out of that courtroom a free woman.

André: Spoken like the hypocrites you both are.

[Dramatic music]

Jennifer: Hey, can I get you anything?

JJ: Any beer in the fridge? I'm joking. Drinking when things are bad, that's what got me into this mess. I can't believe it. Gabi, she's the first good thing I've had in my life since...

Jennifer: Since Paige? I know, JJ.

JJ: And I blew it, just like I did with Paige.

Jennifer: But you know that Gabi has made huge mistakes as well.

JJ: We were both gonna live better lives together, mom, and I blew it.

Jennifer: What I'm saying is that she knows the importance of forgiveness, JJ.

JJ: It's not happening, mom.

Jennifer: Well, I really wish that you would reconsider.

JJ: Why would I?

Jennifer: Because I think she's gonna end up being hurt more unless you tell her.

Vicky: I don't quite understand.

Gabi: Sorry, what is it that you want, a diagram?

Vicky: When Chad introduced you, all he said was that you work for him. So why don't you tell me what this little show was all about.

[Tapping keyboard]

Brady: Theresa, what the hell is going on?

Theresa: You were my last hope, Victor.

Victor: I didn't say I won't help you. I can't help you. Gofodano's too powerful.

Theresa: More powerful than you?

Victor: Infinitely.

Theresa: [Crying] No, I can't... keep running. Even if I took Tate with me-- especially if I took Tate with me, Mateo would kill Brady in a heartbeat. I...I can't stay here. But if I do nothing, he'll kill someone else that I love just to warn me. [Crying] I'm gonna have to go to Mexico and...do whatever he wants. Showtime.

Brady: Where have you been?

Theresa: Anne and I went out for happy hour.

Brady: Wow, did you stay until last call, or...?

Theresa: What's with you?

Brady: Theresa, you were supposed to pick up Tate.

Theresa: Well, I lost track of time, all right? Did you go get him?

Brady: Yeah, yeah, I did.

Theresa: Oh, and he's upstairs asleep, right? [Slurring] Snug as a bug in a rug? [Chuckles] All's well that ends well.

Brady: Theresa... what's happening here?

Steve: You know, he does righteous indignation pretty well for a little weasel, doesn't he?

Kayla: I noticed that.

André: You two are so cozy up there on the moral high ground, pointing your finger at anybody who acts outside the law. But when one of your lot murders my father, frames me for that murder, and then sends me to prison to rot, well, that's just another matter.

Steve: You really shouldn't try to paint yourself as the injured party. You can't pull it off, dude.

Kayla: Your family kills for fun and profit. My brother died in hope's arms. She was out of her mind the day she saw your father. And he taunted her, and he goaded her into doing what she did.

André: My father's in his grave. And hope can tell you all the stories she wants about what happened that day, and you're going to believe her, because she is a Horton and a Brady, and that combo makes her a saint, right?

Steve: You know, the Hortons and Bradys are never devious cowards. They would never broadcast a tortured woman's taped confession for the whole town to hear.

André: That's because they own the police department.

Steve: The only reason I haven't clocked you already is because we're in a church.

André: I came to church... because I thought it would be comforting to light a candle for my father... the real victim of this crime. I was wrong.

Gabi: I'm sorry, honey. I forgot that you didn't want everyone to know. But it's just that when I saw her put the moves on you, I couldn't... couldn't control myself.

Chad: Right.

Vicky: So you're a couple?

Chad: Yes.

Vicky: Why didn't you tell brad and me?

Gabi: Well, that's because we don't want anyone to know.

Chad: Mm-mm.

Gabi: The last thing Chad needs is gossip.

Vicky: Then why did you go out of your way to let me in on the big secret?

Gabi: Because I have issues with jealousy and possessiveness, and I'm working on them. But I have to admit, sometimes I have to show women that this man is taken.

Vicky: Right. I hope you can forget my little faux pas just now. My husband has issues with jealousy and possessiveness too, and he doesn't even try to work on it. So let's just keep this between us, shall we?

Brad: Keep what between you?

[Dramatic music]

Theresa: What's happening?

[Laughing] Brady, do you not remember being all cooped up here, with all those maniacs on the loose threatening to kill all of us? And I was going a little crazy because I was claustrophobic? Well, this--this is my way of celebrating, okay, that we can all breathe again.

Brady: How does that excuse forgetting to pick up your son?

Theresa: Ugh, well, excuse me for not being perfect, okay? It won't happen again. Hey...do you know what we need? We need to just go out and we need to have some fun, okay? We could go clubbing, you know? Because my buzz is wearing off, and I just hate it when that happens.

Brady: You want to go get wasted? Seriously?

Theresa: Do you have any idea how long it's been since I have had any fun at all? Can't see it. Can't taste it.

JJ: I can't tell her, mom. I'd lose her. I can't lose one more person I love.

Jennifer: I understand that. I do.

JJ: The day that Gabi walked into my life was the day things finally started turning around for me--for her too. She's beautiful. She's sweet, fun. She's forgotten that. I helped her.

Jennifer: That's right. You did.

JJ: She could have chosen any guy she wanted, but she chose me. I'm not going to wreck that.

Brad: I asked you a question. What's the big secret?

Vicky: Well... I'm sorry. I have to tell him.

Brad: Tell me what?

Vicky: I just found out Chad and Gabi are a couple. But they don't want anyone to know.

Brad: So how'd you find out?

Vicky: I just figured it out. I mean, look at them. They can barely keep their hands off each other.

Brad: You know, Vicky is intuitive. That's why I brought her with me tonight. I like to run all my deals past her.

Chad: Oh, well, Vicky, how do you feel about he deal I'm working on with brad?

Vicky: Well, we have a few questions for you.

Brad: So why don't you and Vicky and I all sit down together now?

Vicky: And you can go on home and skip all the business talk.

Gabi: Oh, I'm not bored by the business talk, actually.

Chad: Yeah, and I'm a lot like brad. I prefer to have Gabi with me so I can run by deals by her. So how about we all go sit down?

Gabi: Oh, I have an idea. I'm a little hungry. I know a place that's open late, if you guys want to join. Is Thomas with the nanny?

Chad: Sleeping.

Gabi: Okay.

Chad: Shall we?

Brad: Let's take this show on the road.

Brady: Oh, you're right.

Theresa: What?

Brady: You're right. You haven't had any fun since my accident. No wonder you went out with Anne and lost track of time. No wonder.

Theresa: You're... you're being pretty understanding.

Brady: I'm worried. Worried is more the word, Theresa. I haven't seen you like this in so long.

Theresa: What, drunk? Mouthy?

Brady: When you I used to see you like this--

Theresa: Oh, yeah, you hated it.

Brady: No, it was because I didn't understand how unhappy you were underneath it all.

Theresa: Oh, God.

Brady: And I'm looking at you right now, and I understand that you are unhappy right now. Baby, you've been so strong. You've been so strong, and I've been leaning on you, and it hasn't been fair, and it's taken its toll. I can see that right now. Do you understand how much I love you? Do you? Baby, I love you so much. And I'm sorry. From this day on, I swear to God, I'm gonna do everything I can to make you understand. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Theresa: No, Brady.

Brady: The best thing.

Theresa: No, I am not.

Brady: And when you feel stressed out from my family, from taking care of me, from taking care of Tate, baby, we will figure it out together. I am right here for you. Because no matter what, no matter what, we will figure it out together. And we're gonna be okay.

Theresa: I don't know if everything's going to be okay.

Brady: Why not?

[Baby crying]

Theresa: You know, I'll get him.

Brady: No, no, you don't have to. He'll self-soothe. Wait for it.

[Baby crying]

Brady: Wait for it.

[Crying stops]

Brady: See? He's down.

Theresa: Yeah. I do. I see.

Brady: Baby, hey. Let's stay in tonight. Let's have a romantic dinner. I'll cook something. We'll put on a movie--

Theresa: Oh, you'll cook and a movie? Did you not hear anything that I said? I feel trapped in this house, Brady. I feel like I am going crazy. And you know what, when it's not crazy, it's boring. And I just feel like I'm just waiting for the grass to grow. You know what, I just--I want to go out and have some fun. Hey, do you--do you remember when we just flew to Vegas and we got married?

Brady: You know I don't remember a damn thing, because I was too drunk.

Theresa: Oh, well, at least it was spontaneous.

Brady: Baby, I'm gonna make you some coffee.

Theresa: I don't want coffee. I want another drink. Excuse me.

Brady: We don't need a drink to have a good time. Remember that? We've learned how to do that, baby, remember that?

Theresa: Oh, God, no, I am not in the mood, Brady. You know what, I just want to feel alive again. Does that make me bad? Huh? You said you loved me.

Brady: Oh, my God, I love you so much, and that's why I'm trying to save you from yourself right now. I just want to protect you.

Theresa: [Laughing] That sounds like a project that's just doomed to fail.

Brady: What are you doing?

Theresa: You know what, I'm going--

Brady: Where are you going right now?

Theresa: I'm going to a judgment-free zone, okay? [Crying]

Gabi: I've never had pie in an evening gown before.

Brad: This pie is good.

Chad: Mm-hmm.

Brad: You never make pies.

Vicky: But I have other talents.

Brad: Yes, you do. So how'd you two meet?

[Both stammering]

Gabi: High school.

Chad: We met in-- we met in high school.

Gabi: Yeah.

Brad: High school sweethearts?

Chad: Yeah.

Brad: Then how come nobody knows about you?

Vicky: Yes.

Gabi: Oh, well, we didn't last very long. Actually, I was really into Chad, but he did not reciprocate those feelings, and, you know, I didn't really like that very much. And then I got married. He got married. And we both had kids. And then the father of my daughter died, and his wife died, so...

Brad: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Chad: Yeah, you know, I got through it with a lot of help from my friends, Gabi being one of them.

Gabi: Yeah, and then he offered me a job.

Chad: And she's been amazing.

Vicky: And then the friendship turned into something more.

Gabi: Uh, kind of just... happened.

Vicky: Sometimes a connection like that does just kind of happen. When it's real, believe me, you know it.

[Dishes clattering]

Gabi: Oh. Something--is it okay?

Chad: Huh?

Gabi: Are you okay?

Chad: Mm-hmm.

Kayla: So?

Steve: I checked the whole area. André's gone.

Kayla: Oh, good. You know, just thinking about him playing that recording in front of hope, you know, and loving it. I just want to rip his head off.

Steve: Hey, hold on, hold on. Can we not talk about André anymore?

Kayla: Absolutely. You know what? I think the flowers are gonna look perfect in here tomorrow.

Steve: Yeah. But the most beautiful thing about this wedding, besides the bride, of course, is gonna be the matron of honor.

Kayla: Come on, Steve, really.

Steve: Why is it so hard for you to take a compliment?

Kayla: Because you are completely biased.

Steve: No, I'm just telling it like it is. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

Kayla: [Laughs] Oh, are we going somewhere?

Steve: Yeah.

Kayla: What?

Steve: God, you're so beautiful. And you're smart. You're strong. And you're sweet. Why do you think I call you "sweetness"?

Kayla: I don't know.

Steve: Because you take care of everyone, not just your own family. You take care of everyone in the town. You've always been the love of my life. Even when I was really blowing it with you. But finally, I think I'm on the right track. I feel it. We're on the right track. We're gonna make it this time, Kayla. I just know it. So... you told me to hang on to this... until we figure out how to get it right. Well, I think we got it right. Kayla... will you please marry me?

Kayla: I...I... just say yes or no. Oh, God help me, is this another maybe?

Kayla: It's a yes.

Steve: It's a yes?

Kayla: Yes. It's a yes.

Steve: Oh!

Kayla: [Laughing] You know, we're in a church. We should--

Steve: Yeah.

Kayla: We should go home.

Steve: Oh, no, no, no. We can't do that. Joey's got friends over.

Kayla: Oh. So come on.

Kayla: Wait. Where are we gonna go?

Steve: You don't know?

Kayla: [Laughs]

Steve: Come on.

Jennifer: Hey, listen. I know that you are so slammed with wedding stuff, but I just wanted you to know that our checks have cleared, and the spectator is ours. Yes. No, no, no, don't worry. It's gonna be fine. Yeah, we're gonna figure it out as we go along. Okay, see you later. Oh, hi.

JJ: You and aunt Adrienne bought the spectator?

Jennifer: Yes, we did. And I am going to be the editor.

JJ: Okay, well, that's really cool. Well, how did it happen?

Jennifer: Well, I mean, we were just talking about, you know, how it became such a rag newspaper, and Adrienne said someone should take it over and make it the newspaper that it was when your dad was running it. And all of a sudden, we thought, hey, why not us, right?

JJ: Well, you were there when dad was working there, right?

Jennifer: Yeah, that's where we fell in love.

JJ: Is it gonna hurt to go back?

Jennifer: At first. But everything about that paper reminds me of your dad. So I feel like we are honoring his memory and doing something that's really important to him.

JJ: You and dad, you guys had your problems, but you never stopped loving each other.

Jennifer: Never, JJ.

JJ: Mom, that's what I want. And I think I found that with Gabi--if I don't blow it. I'm not going to. I will do whatever it takes to make her happy.

Chad: There was... uh, a mouse ran to the door, ran through the door.

Vicky: Those are sneaky little things, aren't they?

Chad: Yeah, right? I know, ms. Brady, she better get some traps really quick.

Gabi: I am so sorry about that. I hope that you don't regret coming here.

Vicky: No.

Brad: I'm not scared of mice. We have them at our place at the cape all the time.

[Laughter]

Chad: Yeah.

Gabi: Yeah, I'm kind of excited to be out in public with Chad and not have to worry about people talking.

Chad: Yep.

Brad: Happy to oblige.

Gabi: Ooh.

Brad: Another mouse?

Gabi: Uh, no. No, not this time.

[Cell phone ringing]

Brad: Excuse me. I'm waiting for a call. Excuse me. Yeah, thank you for getting back to me.

Gabi: This time, it was a rat.

Chad: Yeah, what the hell do you think you're doing?

Gabi: You need to back off, okay?

Vicky: Calm down, you two. I was only having a little fun.

Gabi: Well, you need to stop having a little bit of fun, before I tell Bradley over there how you get hands-on with all of his business partners. You got it?

Brad: Well, we've talked. I've finished the pie. And I still can't make my mind up whether or not to go for this deal you're offering.

Chad: Well, you know, I got to tell you, brad, I have meetings scheduled first thing in the morning with other investors, but you're my first choice.

Gabi: You said you run a lot of big deals by Vicky. She seems all set, right?

Vicky: I've seen enough of Chad to see that he's... a very bright young man. And I think he'll do exciting things at DiMera enterprises.

Brad: You know what? I do too. And I want to be a part of that.

Chad: Yes.

Brad: You call those other investors, and you tell them you've got your guy.

Chad: I absolutely will. Thank you.

Brad: I've had a long day. Are you ready to go?

Vicky: Absolutely.

Brad: Well...

Gabi: Good night.

Brad: Good-bye, you two.

Chad: Yes, good night. Good night, Vicky.

[Laughing]

Gabi: I can't believe it.

Chad: What? Oh, my God. I cannot thank you enough. No, because of you, that deal got closed.

Gabi: No, you would have done it anyway; you're a shark.

Chad: Yeah, had I done those things with Vicky that you--

Gabi: Yeah, yeah, listen, I know, I know. I'm sorry I surprised you with that kiss, but when I knew what she had in mind, I had to do it.

Chad: Yeah, but if you hadn't have, then...

Gabi: Then there would have no words.

Chad: Yes, then that barracuda would have been showing up at my place a little bit later, force-feeding me champagne and oysters, probably without any clothes on. Anyway, hiring you is the best thing that I have ever done. And tonight was super weird.

Gabi: It was.

Chad: But it was amazing. It was so much fun. I haven't had that much fun in so long.

Gabi: Yeah, me too. Oh, sorry, I have to-- I turned my phone off, so I have to turn it back on. The symphony, it was amazing. Thank you, by the way.

Chad: Yeah.

Gabi: Oh.

Chad: What is it?

Gabi: Actually, JJ, he's been looking for me. My text never went through. So I think I'm gonna actually head out.

Chad: Okay. Oh, yeah, get out of here.

Gabi: Have a good night.

Chad: Absolutely, thank you.

Victor: What are you doing in the dark?

Brady: Just thinking.

Victor: Want some company?

Brady: I got some work to do, and Tate's asleep, so... if you'll excuse me...

Victor: Where's Theresa?

Brady: Theresa's out.

Victor: What's wrong?

Brady: Granddad, do you think you could mind your own business just this one time, please?

Victor: No, not when I'm worried about you.

Brady: Theresa's-- Theresa came home drunk, and she's out getting drunker. That's where she is right now.

Victor: You have any idea why she's drinking?

Brady: She's out with her friend Anne, because she's told me that she hasn't had any fun in a long time. So she had so much fun, she forgot to pick up our son.

Victor: What happened to him?

Brady: I went and got him. Then she came here, and I told her about what she did, and she didn't seem to care at all. And then I told her she wasn't acting like herself, and then she blew up at me. She basically released everything that she's been holding in and gave it to me. And I don't get it. I don't understand.

Victor: Why?

Brady: Why--because there's no fear anymore. There's nothing to be scared of. She doesn't have to feel like a prisoner here anymore, okay? I mean, Tate and I and she, we can go on vacation. We can do whatever we want. Granddad, she went out of her way to, like, push me, to push me aside. She went out of her way to get mad at me. And I don't understand why she did it.

Victor: I know how much you want to be Theresa's salvation. Maybe she just can't be saved.

Quilted northern works so well people can forget

JJ: What you doing?

Jennifer: Working on the editorial that announces the changes at the paper.

JJ: Abs would love you doing this.

Jennifer: Yeah. She did such a great job with me at the hospital. I mean, I would have hired her in a-- boy.

JJ: All right.

Jennifer: Sometimes I think about her. Her smile and the way it just lit up the room, you know?

[Doorbell dings]

Jennifer: Got it?

JJ: Yeah.

Jennifer: Be careful.

Gabi: Hey. Hey, I'm so sorry. I sent you a text, but it didn't go through.

JJ: It's okay. You're here now.

Gabi: Yeah, I'm sorry.

JJ: You look beautiful. Why are you dressed like that? What were you doing tonight?

André: Where have you been?

Chad: Checking on my son. Is that all right?

André: No, I mean all evening.

Chad: Oh, right. Well, I was closing a deal with brad bush.

André: Really?

Chad: Yes.

André: What changed his mind?

Chad: Gabi.

André: Your image consultant?

Chad: Mm-hmm.

André: I know I'll regret asking, but...how did she do that?

Chad: Well, Vicky bush said she was gonna take down the deal unless I slept with her.

André: Heavens.

Chad: Yes. Gabi heard it, decided to use it against Vicky, told her that if Vicky didn't make brad go along with the deal, then she was gonna tell brad. Brad turned around.

André: And your virtue remains intact. Ah. I am enormously relieved. Thank you.

Kayla: No wonder you wanted to follow me to the church. You had this all planned out, didn't you?

Steve: Yeah, I kind of did.

Steve: You're not mad, are you?

Kayla: Pretty sure of yourself, aren't you?

Steve: As soon as I found out you were okay last night... I made up my mind I'm never gonna let you go again. And I'm not sure of myself. You always keep me guessing. I love you, sweetness. I want you so bad. My belly pain and constipation?

Brady: You know, what bothers me the most is that I didn't see it coming. I thought Theresa was handling the stress.

Victor: Yes, well, she certainly gave that appearance.

Brady: She snapped tonight. She just wanted to--she wanted to go out there and party like there was no tomorrow. That's all she wanted to do. How do I help her?

Victor: Brady, there's something I have to tell you.

Brady: [Groans] Go for it. Tell me. "I told you so," right?

Victor: No, no.

Brady: "I told you so." Say it.

Victor: I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry.

Gabi: Hey.

Jennifer: Hi. Oh, you look stunning.

Gabi: Thank you. I had to go with Chad and a client to the symphony. I had never been to the symphony, and I definitely clapped at all the wrong times. It was embarrassing.

Jennifer: Well, I bet that you were the loveliest girl there.

Gabi: Thank you.

Jennifer: Okay, well, I'm gonna head up to bed. Will you make sure you turn all the lights off?

JJ: Yeah, sure.

Jennifer: Okay. Good night, sweetie.

Gabi: Good night. Hey, I'm sorry, again, about tonight. Kate made me go, and I--

JJ: Listen, I don't care. I do not care. You're here now.

[Phone buzzing]

André: Hello, Laura. You've been taking good care of our mutual friend? But you're Abigail's grandmother. You're supposed to keep her in line. Bloody hell. She's gone? Where did she go?
