Sonny: You know, this was much easier before I went to Paris. Oh, you've gotten so big.
Gabi: Yeah, she does tend to keep growing.
Sonny: Yeah, but now I can see it happening again. I missed so much. But I'm home for good. Okay, Ari?
Sonny: Okay? She's ignoring her daddy.
Sonny: Oh, and Gabi, you've got to put me on the top of your babysitting list. I mean it. I mean, if you and JJ ever want--
Gabi: JJ's no JJ's not here, okay? I don't know where he is.
Sonny: What's going on?
Gabi: Nothing. You know...one call. One call is all I've gotten since he took off to Miami.
Sonny: Well, I mean, he's looking into the plane crash. He's worried sick about his sister. I'm sure he's going through a tough time emotionally.
Gabi: Oh, I get that, but why doesn't he call somebody that cares? Somebody that can talk to him to help him get through that?
Julie: Jennifer, you said to remind you that-- oh, my god, JJ!
JJ: Hey, Julie.
Julie: Welcome home, kiddo. Well, I had no idea that you were coming in. Why didn't you give us a call?
JJ: I just--I didn't know when I was gonna get a flight.
JJ: I was on standby.
Julie: Your mother will be so glad, so thrilled that you're back. Well, everybody's going to be.
JJ: Yeah, I don't know about everybody. Gabi's last text--she's really ticked off I didn't stay in touch the way I should've.
Julie: JJ, if that girl does not understand what you've been going through with your family, you should drop her.
Maggie: Wait. Back up. Deimos actually said he wanted us to move in with him?
Victor: Well, if we move into the east wing, we'll be by ourselves over there for the most part. There'll be plenty of room for you to do your rehab, keep all the equipment over there until you get stronger.
Maggie: Victor, you know I've always tried to stay positive, and I've always hoped that you and your brother could come to some kind of common ground, but this gesture is--
Victor: I know. It's over the top. He knows it too. In fact, he made some lame joke about keeping your enemies closer.
Maggie: But what?
[Phone continues ringing]
Victor: Speak of the devil. What can I do for you, Deimos?
Deimos: I need to see you, immediately.
Chad: Thanks for coming, Kate.
Kate: My pleasure. You know, when I was coming up the drive, I saw Lucas and Adrienne pushing Thomas in his stroller. Do they come by often?
Chad: Yeah, well, Jennifer and I thought it would be best if Thomas had as much family around as possible, so they decided that they're actually gonna stay here for a little while.
Kate: Mm, till your life gets back to what it should be?
Chad: Jennifer's too.
Kate: Right. You know, I can't speak for Adrienne, but I can certainly say that Lucas will really do a good job with that little boy, and he's gonna enjoy every minute of it.
Chad: That's good, 'cause I could use all the help I can get, and I trust him.
Kate: Of course you can trust him.
Chad: I'm also gonna need another kind of help... from you.
Maggie: What did he want?
Victor: A meeting. It sounded serious.
Maggie: Let me guess. He wants to renege on his offer?
Victor: No, no. You know, I'm not sure of much of what Deimos says, but the offer he made was sincere.
Maggie: Well, I'm glad that you're trying to work things out with him. And maybe we will be able to put the past where it belongs.
Victor: Maybe. But all I care about right now is you and whatever you need to get you back on your feet again.
Maggie: Then let me tell you what I won't need. I won't need a warm and fuzzy scene with Deimos, or some lovely rooms in what used to be our east wing. All I need is you.
Kate: You want my help with what?
Chad: Okay... DiMera enterprises is in shambles. We have companies all over the world.
Kate: Yeah, I know.
Chad: And most of them are, you could say, like, borderline-legal, especially the ones in Asia.
Kate: [Laughs] I remember.
Chad: And I want them all above board immediately. Streamlined, more efficient. Like, I'm talking making a lot of changes. A lot of changes. Big changes that aren't gonna be easy.
Kate: No, it's not going to be easy, especially given the way that Stefano stacked the board.
Chad: Mm. But aside from all of the borderline-legal companies, I've got shell companies, unregistered companies, double-registered companies. I've got losers-- more than I'd like to admit-- I've got winners--some that are actually pretty solid. But the kicker is all of them have completely different bookkeeping systems.
Kate: Yes, because Stefano thought confusion was the best cover. You keep the governments guessing.
Chad: That's over, starting now. See, if I'm gonna make DiMera enterprises great again, I need experts. And I also need somebody--you-- in charge of those experts, who knows what they're doing.
Kate: Tell me something. Rebuilding DiMera enterprises... is that somehow your way of honoring your father's legacy?
Chad: No, no. This has nothing to do with him. See, I promised Abby that I was going to build a life for Thomas based on trust and honesty, and it's a promise that I want to keep. I want to be the father that Thomas needs, right? The father that--
Kate: That you never had.
Chad: Yeah. Now, Stefano DiMera wasn't necessarily one of the good guys, but what he was good at was teaching me how to love family. And that is what I'm gonna do for Thomas.
Kate: [Scoffs] All right.
Chad: Does that mean that you're gonna help?
Laura: [Scoffs] Big mistake asking Kate Roberts for anything. You're not sold on Gabi.
Julie: Well, she killed nick. Somehow, she got out of prison early, and now she's causing you trouble.
JJ: No, this is on me. I went down to Miami, and I got caught in my own world down there trying to find out what happened.
Julie: Of course.
JJ: I should have contacted her more. And I should've at least told her face-to-face that I was leaving.
Julie: Whatever, whatever, darling, just please call your mother and tell her you're back.
JJ: I will right now. Texting her.
Julie: I'm so glad you're home.
JJ: Me too.
Julie: Car keys!
JJ: Thank you.
Julie: [Sighs] Gabi Hernandez...
Sonny: Twice a week! Wow, she'll be a ballerina in no time.
Gabi: You wouldn't say that if you stayed and watched the class. The teacher just lets them do what they want, and then she calls it ballet. But it's fun, and Arianna loves it.
Sonny: Well, that's all that counts.
Gabi: Yeah. You know what? I wanted to...apologize. I came off a bit harsh earlier. I'm sorry.
Sonny: No, you were just upset.
Gabi: Yeah. Yeah, I still am. But you were trying to make me feel better, so I'm sorry.
Sonny: Forget it.
Gabi: Hey, I know that JJ's your cousin, and you really like him, but, you know, it's not your job to fix things. That's all on him. And he can just be so-- you know, whatever. I'm gonna go get something at the drugstore before Arianna's class ends.
Sonny: You know, I need to say something, okay?
Sonny: I think the reason you were so upset is because JJ means so much to you.
Gabi: Yeah. I just don't know how much I mean to him.
Laura: Your butler said that you were back here and that I should come ahead.
Chad: Yeah, that's fine.
Laura: Well, obviously, I didn't know that you'd be with the likes of-- Chad, this woman is not anyone you turn to for help.
Kate: Laura, this woman happens to be very close to Chad, and has known him for years.
Laura: Right. Ever since you married his father, the old spider himself, which hardly makes you anyone that someone should trust.
Chad: Laura, is there something that you need? Lucas and Adrienne have Thomas right now.
Laura: That's wonderful. Let me tell you what I need. I need you to think long and hard before you allow Kate to be involved in my great grandson's life.
Chad: Okay, Kate loves Thomas, and she would never do anything to hurt him. Look, I don't know what's going on here, but maybe we should just take a step back.
Kate: Yeah. Why don't you take a step back where you came from?
Laura: Young man, a person's past says a lot about their future. Someone who doesn't hesitate to lie, to break the law, or to poison someone--
Chad: Okay, Laura, will you stop? Now, I asked Kate here because I was hoping that she would help me rebuild DiMera enterprises for my son, for your great grandson.
Laura: [Laughs] Even though she once stole the corporation out from under your father? This is not someone that you should be asking to help you.
Kate: Laura, I'm standing right here--right here!
Chad: You know what, Laura, I really don't appreciate you coming into my home and getting into it with Kate, so maybe this is something that we should discuss later.
Laura: Oh, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't still be judging you for your past... with my husband. Or god knows how many other men during your escort days. No, let's make this about Thomas, Chad, and about the kind of people that Abigail would want around him.
Chad: No, I think I know what Abby would want.
Laura: No, you don't. Not at all. in such good spirits, Maggie.
Maggie: Well, every day I get a little bit stronger, and that's definitely something to be happy about.
Deimos: Absolutely. Did Victor tell you about my offer?
Maggie: Yes. And I appreciate you being so generous, but we still need to think about it.
Deimos: Of course. Take as much time as you need. It's a standing offer. Victor, do you think maybe we can go down to the square, talk a bit?
Victor: It's up to Maggie.
Maggie: Oh, please go. Julie's coming by later, and we definitely don't want the two of you listening in.
Victor: All right, then.
Deimos: Again, great seeing you.
Victor: After you.
Chad: Now, Abby would want me to make sure the company survives so I can provide a future for my son.
Laura: Oh, I'm sure you have all the right plans. Like when you checked Abigail into shady hills. You know, if she'd gotten treatment almost anywhere else, she'd be with us today, alive.
Kate: Oh, how can you be so damn insensitive?
Laura: Obviously, you were misled about where Abby would get the best care. No sense in dwelling on it now. Besides, I promised Jenn I'd take a step back.
Kate: It's a little late for that, isn't it?
Laura: Let me tell you something, Chad. Just so we're clear. When my beautiful granddaughter told me how much she loved you, boy, I gave her quite an earful. I told her all about what your father had done to me, what your brother peter had done to her mother and her father. But, you know, my Abigail-- she just stood right up to me. She flat-out said that you weren't like that.
Kate: Because he's not.
Laura: Not yet. All this resurrecting of Stefano's legacy, and allowing his ex-wife into your head... you'll become your father, Chad.
Chad: That's not true.
Laura: You are on your way to becoming the man that Stefano would be so proud of, not the man that Abigail fell in love with. So, whatever choices you make, please proceed with caution. Otherwise, I'm afraid for the future.
Chad: I need some air.
Chad: I'll be in touch.
Kate: Yes. A man is grieving. His life is shattered, and he's trying to find a way to go on, and you are here to--
Laura: To help.
Kate: [Laughs] To help. Well, if you think that's what you just did, then you are crazy! But that's right, 'cause you are, aren't you? You are crazy "as a loon," I think the saying goes. Poor Abigail. Then again, apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, now, does it? all the right plans. Like when you checked Abigail into shady hills. I mean, if she'd gotten treatment anywhere else, she'd be with us today, alive. You are on your way to becoming the man that Stefano would be so proud of, not the man that Abigail fell in love with.
JJ: Hey. Chad, I need to say something real quick. I'm sorry for the way I left things before I went down to Miami.
Chad: No--wait--look, neither one of us made the right moves that day with Abby's--you know, the disappearance of the plane.
JJ: Everybody deals the best they can, I guess.
Chad: That's it. Your mom said they didn't-- they didn't find...
JJ: No. No trace. Sometimes I feel like I'm gonna open the door and she's gonna be standing there. Well, I was on my out, so take care.
Chad: Wait, hold on. Do you think that maybe we could start over? Abby wouldn't want us going at each other. I think that maybe we should give it a try, at least for Thomas.
JJ: Sounds good. Deal. How about I swing by tomorrow and see my nephew?
Chad: You got it.
JJ: I'm gonna...
Chad: All right.
JJ: Go find Gabi. You haven't seen her, have you?
Chad: No, I haven't. But if I do, I will tell her to call you.
JJ: Thank you.
Julie: Sharing the mansion? That is a big step.
Julie: Well, wanting to put the family back together again-- that's commendable. Don't you think?
Maggie: Deimos does seem to be trying.
Julie: But you're not buying it?
Maggie: I'm cautious.
Julie: Well, Victor is not stupid. He must think Deimos' offer is on the up-and-up, or he would've said no by now.
Maggie: So, you think it's a good idea?
Julie: Honey, my opinion doesn't matter. Only your opinion. I will say this: It's a gargantuan mansion. I mean, there's room for everybody there.
Maggie: [Laughs] True.
Julie: And there's something great about living with family. You know, Doug and I, we are happy as clams to be with JJ and Jennifer. Granted, we moved back because Jennifer needed us. But still.
Maggie: Mm. Yeah, no... [Sighs] It's just that, except for Deimos, there is no family. There's no Justin and no Philip and no Brady.
Julie: No, there's Victor and his brother. This would give them the chance to bond, a chance to heal all that pain. Those two Greek guys-- they're pretty smart. They know it's going to take a lot of goodwill glue to heal the crack in that relationship. And, my darling, the glue is you.
Victor: So, how'd you get onto this?
Deimos: A source. Very reliable.
Victor: Good, 'cause we're gonna have to make this stick.
Deimos: Oh, there's no doubt about that. My source found out who Titus drew sells to-- wasn't sure if it was important. But for me, bells started going off immediately.
Victor: Damn right. It's the only person it could possibly be. Damn it, it was staring us right in the face the whole time.
Deimos: We played right into this person's hands. Too busy pointing fingers at each other even to consider it.
Victor: Like puppets on a string. This person wanted our situation to escalate.
Deimos: Of course. So we'd ultimately destroy each other.
Victor: Son of a bitch.
Deimos: So, what do you think? Time to confront Tate's kidnapper?
Victor: Oh, definitely. I know just how we should go about it.
[Cell door opens]
Gabi: You're back.
JJ: Yeah, I just landed a little while ago. I didn't text you. I figured I really screwed up saying good-bye on the phone, and I didn't want to do the same thing saying hello.
JJ: Can I try to explain why I could only call to say good-bye?
Gabi: Sure. You can also explain why you sounded like you'd rather be doing anything besides talking to me.
JJ: No, that's not true. Just--Gabi, my head was so messed up, and I was going down to see if my sister-- let me start over.
Gabi: No, don't bother, because I get it. You were upset. But I was too. I mean, don't I count for anything?
JJ: You count more than anything. Gabi, listen. I want to fix this. Can we at least try?
Sonny: Chad? Hey! Did you hear me?
Sonny: You okay?
Chad: Yes. Take a seat, man.
Sonny: [Grunts] It's kind of weird that we have to pay for coffee now.
Chad: Yeah, right? I actually have to carry around cash now, which is unfortunate.
Sonny: Yeah, just like the good old days.
Chad: Hey, hell of an article in the "wall street journal." New Kiriakis at titan moving on up.
Sonny: Yep, I'm learning. I was the big frog in a small pond over in Europe, but corporate headquarters is a lot bigger.
Sonny: Yeah, it is.
Chad: Well, you know, you could always...
Sonny: I could always what?
Chad: Well, you know, if you wanted to move up faster, you could always come and work for DiMera enterprises. We could use you.
Sonny: Thank you, but no. My uncle Vic would have a stroke...
Sonny: If I ever worked for DiMeras. Remember when my dad did a side job for EJ a while back?
Chad: Yeah, but that was when our families were enemies. And besides, I'm taking DiMera enterprises straight now. Not that you would know anything about being straight.
Sonny: Get out of here. Get out of here. That is a good move though, making it legit.
Sonny: But I think you and I should stay friends, skip the business.
Chad: All right. If you change your mind...
Sonny: I hear you. Listen, when I came in, I asked you if you were okay. You said fine, but I don't believe you.
Chad: Yeah, it's-- it's weird trying to imagine life without Abby.
Chad: Thomas wasn't old enough to remember, but I do, and as short-lived as it was, we had, you know--we had some pretty good times, so it's just--it's an adjustment. Umm.. I don't know--I guess you heard your mom and dad are moving into my place? They're gonna be keeping an eye on Thomas.
Sonny: I--no, I did not hear that.
Chad: Well, we just decided a little bit ago. So, if your mom calls, would you please act surprised?
Sonny: I will, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That makes sense, though. I mean, my mom loved Abigail like a daughter, so, she'll be a great help.
Chad: Yeah, definitely.
Sonny: You know, if you ever need anything, you can call me. I take calls from friends.
Chad: That's kind of you. Thank you. I do too.
Victor: Just let me know if anything changes. Otherwise, we've got everything taken care of on this end. Bye.
Deimos: All set?
Victor: The kidnapper awaits.
Victor: You know, I'm really going to enjoy this.
Deimos: That makes two of us, brother.
JJ: See... the thing is that I have a lot of issues when it comes to death. My dad, Paige, and now Abigail--
Gabi: I know. Look, I understand. I don't know--I just-- I wanted to be that person that you turn to, the person that helps you get through this, and instead you just shut me out.
JJ: It wasn't like that. It was weird, Gabi. I had to deal with it every day, but at the same time, I was doing things that would make me not think about it. I went on coast guard searches. I tracked the tides. I poured over all kinds of charts on currents. But every time I had to talk about it, I shut down.
Gabi: Yeah, because then you'd have to deal with it.
JJ: Yeah. And I'm sorry. I don't know if it's that I'm just too messed up in the head, or it's a guy thing, but that's what happened. I've missed you like crazy.
Gabi: I missed you too. You know, this--this talk does not let you off the hook.
JJ: I get that. But I'll do anything to make it right. You just have to tell me what.
Gabi: I actually have to go, because Arianna's class is over. I have to walk over there.
JJ: Can I walk with you?
Gabi: I'd like that.
Maggie: Julie, I don't think I've ever heard you advocate for Victor.
Julie: [Laughs] No, no, I'm just trying to lay out the possibilities for you. Now, if Deimos was sincere in his offer and Victor's okay with it, that's fine. If you're not okay with it, you'd better speak up loud and clear right now, darling.
Maggie: I'm just worried. I mean, what if it turns out that living in the same house makes things worse? And what if they start fighting?
Julie: Oh, they probably will. But...I remember when I was a little girl. Uncle Mickey and uncle Bill fought all the time. And my mother would come in and referee, and... even though they were fighting, it really didn't matter. Yes, they pushed each other's buttons, yes. They had terrible tempers. But in the end, that didn't count. Not deep down.
Maggie: They loved each other.
Julie: Yes, you bet they loved each other. I don't think Deimos and Victor ever had a chance to learn what brotherly love really means. They could learn that. They might be quite a team.
Orpheus: So, we're roommates now, hm?
Clyde: Looks that way, doesn't it?
Orpheus: Well, that's quite a coincidence.
Clyde: Not exactly. I do have a little pull here.
Orpheus: And you picked me. What an honor.
Clyde: And I thought we could talk some more about Salem. We have a mutual distaste for that zip code.
Orpheus: Oh, I think I've said enough.
Clyde: Listen. I don't like living like this. I am consumed with hate. Some nights, I sleep real peaceful, you know? I have happy dreams. Then I wake up and then I can't think of anything but the loss and the grief and the hate.
Orpheus: Sounds familiar.
Clyde: Now, we spoke before about wanting to do something about it. So keep your eyes open. There may be a way.
Chad: Kate, I'm really sorry about that mess earlier with Laura. You know, she can-- she can be kind of-- I don't know--you know her better than I do. But I'm serious about what I said about wanting to turn the companies around. You know, I want to be able to do something for my son that's-- that's honest and good, and I can't do it without your help. It'll work, you know? And... you know, it has to work. It'll work. Anyway, just let me know, okay?
JJ: But I can drive you to the airport.
Laura: Oh, honey, it's not a problem. The cab will be here at any minute. Listen, I left a note for your mom on the desk.
Laura: And I can't tell you how great it is seeing both of you. Although I didn't get much of a chance to spend time with you.
JJ: No. No, I was down there. It hurts too much to talk about.
Laura: They were positive?
JJ: There may be some wreckage that might wash up somewhere, someday, but there were no bodies recovered.
Laura: Sweetheart. I know how much that hurts for both of us--for all of us.
JJ: I'm sorry.
JJ: It's my desk sergeant calling--I've got to take this.
Laura: It's not a problem, sweetheart. You go ahead.
JJ: I love you.
Laura: I love you, darling. I'm just gonna wait here for the cab. No bodies were recovered. Diane, it's dr. Horton. Remind me to check in with dr. Robinson at shady hills. Abigail's body wasn't recovered at the crash site, and-- my point is that I still think that my granddaughter's faculties were completely intact at her disappearance. It just wouldn't make sense for us to jump to conclusions. Oh, how do I put this?
[Horn honks outside]
Laura: We can't-- we can't take her death at face value.
Kate: Just keep on moving. I have nothing to say to you, and I'm meeting someone here in a moment.
Deimos: Are you really? Well, perhaps this is that somebody right now.
Kate: Victor? What's going on? You texted me.
Deimos: Actually, we both did.
Kate: All right, I don't know what game you're playing, but you can forget about it.
Victor: We have some unfinished business, Kate. Did you really think you could get away with it? That we wouldn't find out what you did?
Clyde: Orpheus, huh? That's an interesting name. What--did you die and get yourself resurrected?
Orpheus: Yeah. Something like that.
Clyde: A lot of good it did you, locked up in here. You're gonna be locked up tighter when they transfer you.
Orpheus: Well, we all have our dreams, you know? Make it back to Salem, put a world of hurt on certain people, and-- and then slit their throats.
Clyde: You know, if I ever get out of here, first place I'd go is back to Salem. Settle some scores. Same as you. No mercy.
Orpheus: Well, who knows? Maybe it'll happen.
Clyde: Now, wouldn't that be a kick in the head?
