Provided By Jim

[Dramatic music]

[Door jerking]

Rafe: [Grunts] [Slamming on door] [Groaning] [Exhales sharply]

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: Hope. Hope, I need to change your bandage. Oh, my God, you're so cold. No! Hope. No, no, no, no, no. [Crying] No, Hope. No, no. Oh, my God. Please don't...

Rafe: [Crying] Please don't. No. I'm not gonna let this happen. You--you're gonna stay with me. You understand? You-- oh, my!

[Slow applause]

Rafe: What have I done?

Aiden: Oh, I never thought you were the better man, Rafe, Yeah. You... killed Hope. [Cackling]

Rafe: You son of a bitch!

Aiden: [Gagging] [laughs] Is that the best you've got, Detective? [Laughing]

Rafe: You son of a--

André: Oh, poor Detective Hernandez. Haven't you figured it out by now? You just don't have it in you. You can't kill him or me. You just don't have that in you. The only person you're capable of killing is the woman you love.

[Pounding on door]

[Pounding on door]

Rafe: Oh, come on.

André: Oh, come on, Rafe. Give it up.

Aiden: [Choking] [Laughs] You're wasting my time.

André: [Chuckles]

Rafe: You're sick. You're sick. You're both sick bastards.

Aiden: Oh, now that is pretty harsh.

Rafe: You're monsters.

André: No, no. We're just two men willing to do whatever it takes to get what it is we want.

Aiden: Yes. lie, cheat, steal.

André: Yeah. Inflict pain, kill... doesn't faze us at all. Didn't seem to faze the late Hope Brady, huh? As it turns out, she killed my father in cold blood.

Rafe: No. Your father deserved it. He had it coming. Hope's a good person.

Aiden: Don't you mean "was"?

Rafe: You bastard.

Aiden: Yeah, I know I can be. In fact, you should've killed me when you had the chance, but you play by the rules, don't you? Ahh, see, now, you did not deserve to be with someone like Hope.

André: She's like us. She knew how to get the job done, no matter what the cost. But you...oh, you, Rafe, no. No, you just are not a killer. But sadly, your inability to cross that line cost the life of the woman you love. Now, if you'd only been ruthless, intrepid, courageous...

Aiden: Like me.

André: Yes.

Aiden: Like André.

André: Yeah, like dear, dead Hope. Then, maybe, then... yes... you may have been able to save her.

Aiden: What do you think you're doing? What makes you think you have the right to mourn? Hmm? You killed her. All because you had a hunch. Always meddling, trying to get to the bottom of things. You couldn't have the good sense to leave well enough alone, and I'm sure you were so damn pleased with yourself, hmm? Finding the bloodwork proving that I lied about the date I was abducted? Well, tell me. Would that work out for you, huh? I'll tell you. Hope would still be alive

Rafe: It was the right thing to do. Hope deserved to know.

Aiden: The right thing to do? Was the right thing to do to get Hope killed?

Rafe: She deserved better than you.

Aiden: Agree to disagree. Hmm? But what does it matter now? It was Hope's choice. She chose me. We went to the mountains together. It was beautiful, romantic.

Rafe: Because you were lying to her the whole time.

Aiden: Lying and succeeding. Call that winning. Mm, the mere thought of it must have driven you crazy. Her in my arms-- you couldn't handle it. No, so you had to expose me for the liar that I am. Tell me, Rafe: was it worth it? Was it worth getting Hope killed to make sure she would never end up in my arms again? Was that your end game? Well, that sounds pretty damn selfish to me. And now Hope is dead. And you will have to live with that. [Chuckling]

André: Maybe... you are a monster, after all, just like us. Could it be?

Rafe: I'm nothing like you. I'm so sorry. Hope, I'm so sorry. It wasn't supposed to end like this. Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. [Crying]

Eduardo: Son... you must stay strong.

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: Dad.

Eduardo: Rafe. Listen to me closely. Hope's blood is not on you These evil men.

Rafe: No.

Eduardo: Yes.

Rafe: No, I caused this. Dad, she died trying to save me. She was trying to-- she was trying to protect me.

Eduardo: Rafe.

Rafe: No, I always fa the woman that I'm trying

Eduardo: No, no, no. You can't allow yourself to be mired in pain. Do you understand? That will paralyze you. It'll make you weak. You need to do what is necessary now. You can't bring Hope back.

Rafe: So, what am I supposed to do? abandoned building where Stefano's body got put down beneath rock and ash so that he could never be found?

André: But he was found, wasn't he? By me.

Rafe: You. You're gonna talk to me about taking control of a situation? You disappeared on your family. To do what? So you could be an assassin? Now we're all paying a price.

Eduardo: I understand that.

Rafe: Yeah. You're gonna stand there and tell me that you don't feel the guilt of blood on your hands?

Eduardo: It's not the same. It's not the same. There's no justice in what I did. I accept that. Your situation... is different.

Rafe: No. If Hope were alive today, she would tell you that shooting Stefano was a mistake, a mistake that she regretted for the rest of her life.

Rafe: Shut up. It haunted her day in and day out. She wouldn't have wanted that for me.

Rafe: What is it with you? What is it with you and the damn advice? You were never there for your own family. Then you went off... you created widows and orphans by killing other men. in your footsteps. I'm gonna do what's right. and I'm gonna honor her life.

Aiden: Oh, see? He can't do it.

André: Well, looks like we're back to where we started.

Rafe: Nothing worked out the way it-- the way it should've.

Hope: Why didn't you fight harder for me?

Rafe: Hope? Hope, where are you?

Hope: I'm dead, Rafe. I'm dead. You didn't love me enough. Oh, God. Hope? Hope! No.

[Dramatic music]

[Suspenseful music]

[Pounding on door]

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: Hope.

Hope: [Moans]

Rafe: Hope... come back to me. Come back to me, Hope.

[Instrumental music]

Rafe: Hope, you got it wrong. You got it wrong. I loved you more than you'll ever know.

Hope: Why did you let me go Why? Rafe, why didn't you fight harder for me?

Rafe: Ciara, Shawn.

Shawn: How could you let this happen?

Rafe: You have to know that I didn't mean for it to happen.

Shawn: You didn't mean for it to happen? For her to die? Oh, so that's supposed to make it okay, that you didn't mean to? Look, you promised our dad that you'd take care of her, that you'd look after her. How could you fail him like this?

Ciara: I trusted you, Rafe, even after so many people had let me down. And now the one person that I love and need is gone.

Rafe: I loved your mom too. I loved her so much. I loved her more than you'll ever know.

Shawn: Your words-- your words are cheap.

Ciara: We have to take her away now. She's coming with us.

Rafe: Well, let me help you.

Shawn: No. You've helped enough.

Rafe: Please, just-- just give me some more time, okay? We just need another chance.

Shawn: You had your chance. And you blew it.

Rafe: You here to judge me too?

Dario: No, bro. I'm here to help you.

Rafe: How?

Dario: This is gonna sound callous and unfeeling, but you got to push the pain aside. I know it's easy to want to give in to it, but that is the worst thing you can do. Let it go. Forget. Move on.

Rafe: So, I'm just supposed to just forget about Hope?

Dario: The pain of losing her is if you don't. You'll just fall deeper into despair. You'll be curled up in a room somewhere with the lights turned off, refusing to get out of bed.

Rafe: So, I should just pretend that this never happened?

Dario: No. You should get on with your life.

Rafe: I should get on with my life, right. Right, of course, 'cause that's what you do. When things aren't going well, you just turn your back, right? You go off to Argentina or to LA. Maybe I should envy you, actually, right? 'Cause if you don't care about anything, then you can't be hurt by it.

Dario: You're twisting my words here, Rafe.

Rafe: Am I? Have you ever been in love, Dario? Have you ever been truly in love? So much so that you could barely contain it?.

Rafe: Then don't tell me to bottle my emotions. Because I loved her. And now she's gone, and I may never get over it.

Dario: Oh, then you may never be able to live again. Or love.

Rafe: Okay, well, fine. That's fine. I mean, as if I'd want to.

Dario: Hey, I hear you, bro. I get it. But you need to hear me. You are the strongest of us all. You're the one who kept it together when Dad took off. And you played all the right parts, maybe even the ones you didn't want to.

Rafe: That was a long time ago.

Dario: But you don't think we still look to you to be strong? The one who keeps it all together when stuff gets crazy?

Rafe: I don't want that responsibility anymore. I just want--

Dario: What do you want? You want to wallow? You want to feel sorry for yourself? Okay, great. You come by the bar later-- I'll make sure the booze is flowing to help you numb this pain.

Rafe: I don't want to feel numb--

Dario: Then what the hell do you want?

Rafe: I want her to come back to me. [Grunts] [Pounding against door] I want her to be okay. [Pounding] I want Aiden to have never come back into her life. I want things to be beautiful and whole and wonderful again, the way they were supposed to be. [Pounding] Is that so wrong? Oh... Hope, please come back to me. Please. [Sniffles] Oh.

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: [Crying] Oh, God.

Hope: Thank you for this.

Rafe: You like it?

Hope: It's beautiful. I love it.

Rafe: Really?

Hope: Yes.

Rafe: Okay, 'cause truth be told, I had a little help too. I had my jewelry consultant.

Hope: Consultant?

Rafe: Yeah, well, AKA Gabi.

Hope: Gabi? [laughs]

Rafe: She said the first three were passé.

Hope: I think you have excellent taste.

Rafe: Oh, I know I do. I was worried about you. I texted you, and you texted back--you said you were on your way.

Hope: Yeah, I just-- I got a little-- a little hung up.

Rafe: Everything okay?

Hope: Mm-hm. Perfect now. [Sniffling]

Rafe: Yeah?

Hope: And, Rafael, you are very lucky that you didn't get yourself arrested bringing it to my house.

Rafe: Oh, really?

Hope: Really.

Rafe: Am I lucky?

Hope: You are so lucky.

Rafe: I actually know some people in high places.

Hope: Really?

Rafe: Mm-hm.

Hope: Mm.

Rafe: Yep.

Hope: Oh!

Rafe: Oh, got you.

[Hope laughing]

Adriana: I wanted so much to hate her. I was blind to the happiness she obviously brought you.

Rafe: Yeah. I know.

Adriana: Ay, hijo, mio. I will let you in on a little secret. I was jealous.

Rafe: Why?

Adriana: I had just come back into my family's life, and I wanted to think that you all still needed me. I didn't want to compete with her over yse?

Adriana: We are all afraid of losing

Rafe: Well, you should've given her a chance.

Adriana: use she was an amazing woman. Now she's gone.

Rafe: I couldn't save her.

Adriana: How do you know this? Hijo, you're living in fear, not reality. Don't believe everything you see.

Gabi: She's right, Rafe. Her fate is still in your hands.

Rafe: No. What do you mean?

Gabi: Just never give up.

Adriana: And stop listening to those mad men who tell you this is your fault.

André: We know more about this than you do, Adriana.

Adriana: It's Mrs. Hernandez to you.

Aiden: Yes, well, whatever your name is, do us all a favor

Adriana: You are the one confusing him and messing him up.

Aiden: No--we are the ones who are clearing things up.

Ags are done, Rafe, we know you better than your own family, because

Gabi: No, no--he is ten times

André: You see what I mean? But we Tell him, Doug. Tell him what is at the heart of all his pain.

Doug: You-- you let my princess slip away from her family, away from me. Hope is gone because you let her go. You held back. You took things too and then it all went to hell, to absolute hell. how you felt. Rafe, love is aggressive. You fool. You just hesitate--

Rafe: I know! Okay, I know. I know I should've-- I should've never let her go with him, and I should've fought harder. I should've been stronger. Give me the gun.

Eduardo: Sorry, son. You said the gun would not be justice. The gun was not your way. You said the gun was not your way.

Rafe: I don't care. I don't care anymore. so be it.

[Tense music]

Aiden: [laughing] Aw, you can't shoot me. how did you--

[Slow applause]

André: Bravo, Rafe. I just didn't think you had it in you. But you and I... we are very much alike. You just need a little more But tell me: how does it feel to be a murderer? A monster?

[Dark music]

Doug: N No. Go to her, Rafe. She's waiting for you.

Rafe: Hope? Where?

Hope: I'm here. Don't leave me ever again.

Rafe: I didn't. I couldn't.

Hope: Do you love me?

Rafe: More than I ever thought I could love anyone.

Hope: That's all I needed to know.

Rafe: Hope? Hope? Hope! Hope! Hope, please don't. No, no, no, no, no, no. Hope! Hope, don't leave me. [Groaning]

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: [Gasps, sighs] Thank God.

Hope: Rafe.

Rafe: Hey. Hi. I'm right here. I'm right here. It's okay. It's gonna be okay. We need to get going, okay?

Hope: Where?

Rafe: I'm going to get that door open.

Hope: Rafe. Where are you going?

Rafe: I'm gonna get the door open, Hope, okay?

Hope: No--it's my turn to save you.

Rafe: Okay, well, it's all right. I'm cashing in that free pass. Okay? All right?

Hope: No. You're not playing fair.

Rafe: [laughs] All right, well, when you get better, we'll talk about how you can make it up to me.

Hope: Dea

Rafe: I'll be right back. Promise. [Door lock clanking] [Grunting] [Pounding on door] Ay, Dio. [Grunting, pounding on door] Oh, come on. [Pounding] Oh, come on. [Breathing heavily] [Loud banging] [Muffled banging, grunting]

[Light instrumental music]

Hope: Wow. [Clears throat]

Rafe: Yeah. Okay. [Laughs] So... that happened.

Hope: Yeah.

Rafe: Yep.

Hope: It sure did.

Rafe: So, the best thing for me to do right now is probably get the hell out of here.

Hope: You could do that... or you could... stay... and have a drink.

Rafe: Really?

Hope: You know, when Bo asked you to take care of me, I was angry--I was really angry. I thought, "You know what? I don't need anyone to take care--" But truly, I couldn't be more grateful. He knew what he was doing, and he picked the right guy.

Rafe: That means a lot.

Hope: You know, I'd forgotten how to be happy. You make me happy, Rafe.

Rafe: You make me happy.

[Tense music]

Hope: Rafe, get down. Get down!

Hope: Rafe.

[Muffled banging]

Hope: Rafe.

[Banging continues]
