[Dramatic music]

Summer: Oh, sorry.

Dario: Whoa. You're in a hurry.

Summer: I'm late. Got to get--

Dario: Is this what I think it is?

Summer: I'm in a hurry.

Dario: Make time. Did you change your mind?

Summer: Dario.

Dario: Tell me that you're not gonna kidnap Tate for these people who we don't even know who they are that are blackmailing you. Tell me. Tell me that you're gonna run. Best thing for everyone, Don't you?

Summer: Of course, I know what I have to do. I got to go now.

Theresa: You see this? You don't want this. This is yucky, yucky grown-up stuff. Now, we're gonna get three things of juice for you, my man, and wake you up, huh?

[Dramatic music]

Theresa: Hey.

Brady: Morning.

Theresa: Ther

Brady: Thank you. about what happened yesterday?

No. Are you?

Theresa: No. And, um... look, I hope this isn't a sore subject, but I was kind of hoping to take him to the park with me today. It's the first day that's not boiling hot outside, and I thought maybe he would like it.

Brady: He... would love that. Yeah.

Theresa: Look, why don't you come with us? Oh. And see if there are any common markers between this fire and any suspicious activity over

Shawn: Ask the real question.

Rafe: What?

Shawn: Do you really want all this paperwork, or do you want

Rafe: Oh, that's not what I--

Shawn: Look, I haven't spoken to her, sorry.

Rafe: I didn't mean to put you on the spot.

Shawn: No. No, no, no. It's okay. You know, the truth...

Rafe: Thanks for that.

Shawn: I always thought the two of you were good together. I mean, technically, I don't really have anything against Aiden.

Rafe: Did he really?

[Door opens]

Hope: I think it's all your favorite things. I wanted to make up for last night.

Aiden: Hope, you have nothing to make up for--

Hope: But I do. I do. I do. for us, for us to see if we could put Aiden, I'm sorry. I really, honestly, thought that If it's time to go, it's time to go.

Hope: I'm sorry you're disappointed.

Aiden: Hey, I didn't say that. You're the one saying it, okay? Look, I... Hope. I didn't come up here with a lot of expectations. Right? Few nights alone with you-- that's... it's all I could ask for. The man who tried to kill you, he had my face, and, uh... that's never gonna change.

Hope: I really thought I was ready, but...

Aiden: Too much too soon, right? Baby steps. That's...that's the way to go.

Hope: So you're not disappointed? You're completely fine with the way things are? Is that what you're saying?

Aiden: Of course.

Hope: You're lying.

Aiden: What?

Hope: You're lying.

Shawn: Wait, wait. So, what is it you think Aiden's lying about?

Rafe: Wish I knew. It's a gut feeling. The guy did target your mom for the DiMeras, so there's that.

Shawn: It started with a lie.

Rafe: Yeah. Maybe that's why I can't let it go. What do you think?

Shawn: Me?

Rafe: Yeah, you've got good instincts.

Shawn: I don't know, man. I hit the same block that you do when I go back to the beginning. The guy shows up here. He comes clean. It's like... I don't know, it's like he's trying to start over.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. At Box 244 on Route 17?

Shawn: What?

Rafe: Yeah. Well, like you said, the guy wants to start over, so he buys some rundown piece of property on Route 17.

Shawn: Wait, that's not even in town.

Rafe: Not near his office. Hope's house. The station.

Shawn: Maybe he's trying to fix it up and flip it. I mean, come on, at least he's not trying to mooch off my mom.

Rafe: So you don't think it's weird?

Shawn: Maybe it's all he can afford.

Rafe: He bought it from the DiMeras.

Shawn: Now that's strange. What else you got?

Rafe: Well, if this is too close to home, if you don't want to talk about it--

Shawn: No, no, no, come on. No, go on, what do you got?

Rafe: Aiden went to visit André in prison, claiming to be his lawyer. Guy Haines.

Shawn: He used an alias.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. Sure did. So I asked André about it, and André said he went there to chew him out about what had happened and to talk about the property.

Shawn: Now, you think this property is important?

Rafe: I don't know. But I don't think Aiden snuck into jail just to give him a hard time about what happened. Twice. That I know about. And André said he just wanted to talk about the property.

Shawn: Yeah, but he just came out and told you this outright?

Rafe: Yeah. Which is why I questioned it. Almost like he wanted me to know.

Shawn: I don't know, maybe-- maybe it's a cover-up. I mean, come on, no offense, but who the hell would believe anything that André says.

Rafe: Well, yeah. Exactly. I wouldn't. But I saw the documents, and the pictures. I mean, it's this run-down place, a fixer-upper, but Aiden bought it. Why?

Shawn: That's the question.

Aiden: Yeah. Yeah, that's the question. I mean, if you wanted to invest money in a place-- if he had the money-- it certainly wouldn't be this place. I mean, it would take a fortune to fix up.

Shawn: Mm. Yeah, I don't... I don't know. I don't know.

Rafe: So you don't think it's weird?

Shawn: Yeah, I think it's weird, but it's not exactly criminal.

Rafe: Okay. It's close, though.

Shawn: Look, I... look, I don't know, man. I mean, when it comes to Aiden, I... and I start to ask these questions, I got to remind myself that my mom is a smart woman.

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Shawn: And she's loyal. I mean, all the years that my dad and her were together, it's... you know, after everything that they went through, it's like she never, never was this serious about a guy, ever. Then...then Aiden. I mean, she married the guy. She married-- well, technically, she didn't marry him, but she thought that she did.

Rafe: Hold on a sec. Say that again.

Brady: I wasn't saying no to going to the park with you. I was saying no to you working.

Theresa: Oh, Brady, come on. We got a launch coming up pretty soon.

Brady: You say you've been working to the bone. I'm... you're worn out, okay?

Theresa: Right. So, maybe I'll fall asleep again while I'm supposed to be watching Tate.

Brady: Stop. I didn't mean that.

Theresa: Okay. Good. This is not gonna happen again. I even made this kind of yummy protein drink. It's got enough jolt of caffeine in it that Mommy's gonna be up and babbling for the next week straight, so...

Brady: That's terrific. I'll look forward to that.

Theresa: Yeah. Oh, listen. I made enough for two, so you should just come with us. Please?

Brady: Tell you what. Tell you what. Let me make a couple calls, I'll get some business taken care of, and I will meet the two of you there.

Theresa: Okay, it's a date. Hey, Daddy's gonna come play in the park with us. Isn't it gonna be amazing? It's gonna be amazing!

Brady: Hold on, hold on. You don't want to forget your jolt of caffeine, right?

Theresa: Mm-kay.

Brady: 'Kay?

Theresa: I will. Thank you. And just text me when you're on your way, okay? We're gonna be at that little park.

Brady: I will.

Theresa: Right off the... right off the square.

Brady: I love you guys.

Theresa: Love you. 'Kay, ready? Okay. Ready?

Brady: I knew you wouldn't get very far without this guy. He's-- I thought you were gone.

Summer: I couldn't leave until I gave you this.

Brady: Cash.

Summer: $50,000. Count it. It's everything I owe you.

Brady: Do you really think money is gonna fix what you've done? There is no price for what you cost me. Or your family.

[Tate squeals]

Brady: Mm-hmm. Mm-kay.

Anne: Okay, well, the kid's ready to roll, literally. How about Mommy?

Theresa: Bring it on.

Anne: Once more with feeling. What's going on?

Theresa: Just tired. Here.

Anne: No, what's really wrong?

Theresa: No, really, I'm just tired. It's been a problem lately. Thank you.

Anne: Okay, well, we'll sleep when we're old.

Theresa: Not me. I'm never sleeping again.

Anne: What?

Theresa: I mean... Oh, man, it was so awful. I fell asleep right here with Tate yesterday. I mean, I just closed my eyes for a few seconds, but it was exactly when Victor walked by, and...

Anne: Really? Like the old man doesn't doze off every once in a while?

Theresa: Okay, not with his grandson. His precious grandson.

Anne: What's going on?

Theresa: Not in public. You ready to work? Anyway, he ragged on me for, like, an hour.

Anne: Oh, God, that sucks. Well, at least it wasn't Brady. Right?

Theresa: You should've seen his face when I told him.

Anne: You told him?

Theresa: Yes.

Anne: Why? Just to beat Victor to the punch?

Theresa: I don't know. I don't--I just-- I don't know, I guess I thought it'd be better to just be straight with him, you know?

Anne: Was it?

Theresa: I think so. Of course, now he's all worried that I'm working too hard.

Anne: Okay, T, we cannot push these deadlines.

Theresa: Yeah, I know. That's what I told him. I told him we have to get these deadlines done, so...

Anne: Well, if that's the worst problem you have as a couple-- you know, you guys are, like, disgustingly solid and happy.

Theresa: I know, aren't we? Everything is so perfect.

Anne: [imitates gagging]

Theresa: No, hey, it's awesome. Hey, and Summer's history now, so...

Anne: That's the would-be home wrecker, not the season, right?

Theresa: Yep. Brady found out she was scamming him all along, and, uh... you know, she just turned out to be the needy, manipulative little liar that I knew she always was, and, uh, she got caught. Now she's leaving town.

Anne: You're sure?

Theresa: Mm-hmm. That's what she said last night. We ran into her in town, and she said she was leaving.

Anne: All right, well, good riddance.

Theresa: Yep.

Anne: Maybe a skosh more enthusiasm?

Theresa: She looked at me, though, she looked at me and Tate, and she said, "Take good care of him."

Anne: No! The heartless bitch.

Theresa: Seriously, Anne, there was something about the way she said it. It was so creepy, like... I don't know, like, maybe she somehow found out or heard that I fell asleep, and she was taking a shot at me.

Anne: Come on. How would she have heard?

Theresa: I don't know. I don't know. I just don't trust that bitch and never have, but, you know what, it doesn't matter. Brady's on to her, and that is all that counts.

Anne: All right. Let me see.

Theresa: Okay.

Anne: All right.

Summer: I'm sorry you feel this way.

Brady: Do you not get why?

Summer: It's everything I owe you.

Brady: Yeah, it's $50,000. Do you want to tell me where you got that money? I know you don't have it lying around, Summer.

Summer: I hit up an old associate. They owe me, and I didn't want to owe you.

Brady: You know if you took that money off of Victor or Maggie or anybody else I know, you know that I'm gonna find out about it.

Summer: I'm telling you the truth. I wanted to make things right, and I didn't want to leave you hanging. I am not the same person you pulled out of the Pacific last winter. I... I've changed. You've changed me.

Hope: Would you do me a favor?

Aiden: Of course.

Hope: Come here. Pure honesty. No judgments. No pressure.

Aiden: Okay.

Hope: How did you see this trip going?

Aiden: I don't think we really need to--

Hope: No, Aiden...

Aiden: Hmm?

Hope: Please. I promise. Whatever you say is totally fine. I just really want to know.

Aiden: Pure honesty?

Hope: Yeah. Hey, that's the only way for us. We have to be completely honest about everything.

Aiden: And you are right. And I will be honest with you. Here we are, right? The first time we... really alone since I got back, and I don't know, Hope, I just... I just saw us being together, you know? Just getting lost in the moment, and...

Hope: That's all?

Aiden: Well, that is just the start. Well, we'd come in and see this beautiful place, go out on the balcony, and just...breathe it in. I'd look at you, and we'd move into a kiss. So easy. No thought, no hesitation. Sweet. Complete. I look at you, you look at me, and we feel the connection come back, and we know. We have time. So we change and take a walk around the lake. Maybe a hike like we-- like we had done. We have dinner here in the room. Candlelight. No spaghetti. All your favorites. Your favorite champagne. And you're happy. You... reach across the table for me, and I melt. We melt into each other. And we make love. After, we're in our hearts, everything we've held back, the love and anticipation, and it's... it's perfect. Perfect lead up.

Hope: To what? What else?

Aiden: The night. Just the night. Being in each other's arms.

Hope: No, you were gonna say something else. Aiden, please tell me.

Shawn: I said my mom loved the guy enough to marry him. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

Rafe: Yeah, it is.

Shawn: You keep grinning. No, you're grinning. What do you got?

Rafe: That's how we verify Aiden's version of the story.

Shawn: Okay, how?

Rafe: The story that Aiden told was true, right? He was snatched away, and an impostor was put in his place. Right after the engagement.

Shawn: Okay, right.

Rafe: Right. So the man that Hope married was the impostor. A completely different guy than the guy that walked in here. Right?

Shawn: True.

Rafe: Yeah. So how soon can you get down to the lab and run some tests?

[Dramatic music]

Aiden: I had hoped, in my wildest dreams... that we, uh, would have left here engaged. Well, you know, that was just a fantasy. You asked, and, uh, yeah.

Hope: I did, I... I asked.

Aiden: Yeah, well... you know, we got a lot out of this trip, though, didn't we? I mean, we know for certain that, uh... we got a long way to go. And that's--that's good to know. Right?

Hope: Yeah, sounds like a lot of fun.

Aiden: We will make it fun.

Hope: Okay.

Aiden: Okay.

Hope: Yeah.

Aiden: Now, look. I am not gonna push. And I do have another fantasy. Hope, I want to deliver you from all the pain that I caused you. If I could find an antidote for that, then I would be the happiest man in the world.

Rafe: Hope and Aiden would've had their blood drawn for the marriage license after Aiden was snatched. In fact, your mom was so damn busy with the necktie case, I don't think she ha

Shawn: And even if Aiden did it earlier, it still would've been after they were engaged.

Rafe: Yeah, so that blood sample should not match Aiden's.

Shawn: And I still have the sample that we took when he resurfaced.

Rafe: Okay, can you call the Board of Health and get that marriage license sample?

Shawn: I'm on it. If Aiden's telling the truth, then these samples-- they should not match.

Rafe: Call me on my cell when you get the results.

Shawn: Where are you going?

Rafe: Route 17 and County Line. Aiden bought that house for a reason. I'm gonna find out what it is.

Theresa: Mm. You know, the way she looked at Brady with those big, stupid eyes-- it was like... anyway, let's...okay. Enough about Summer. Let's just focus. Let's get some work done.

Anne: Nope. Nope, you need a break.

Theresa: What? No, Anne, we have deadlines.

Anne: That's okay. They're gonna have to push to tomorrow now, okay? Or at least this afternoon.

Theresa: Okay, I cannot goof off, okay? I appreciate the sentiment, I do, but I would go nuts.

Anne: You're cranky. You're not concentrating. You've got Summer on the brain, and it's messing with your life. You need to shake it.

Theresa: I have. Look, I will. Look at me, I'm... good.

Anne: Okay, not even close. You're no good to me or to yourself like this, so just take a break, okay?

Theresa: Anne, I can't, okay? I just... It's fine. Here.

Anne: All right, look. You have a wedding to plan, okay? You haven't even designed your dress, have you?

Theresa: Well, I mean, look, I kind-- I've kind of. I mean, it's in progress.

Anne: Well, make good progress, okay? Think about the wedding. Think about your man. Do something fun. anted him to go away.

Brady: You know what? Tell yourself any story you want. I don't want to hear it anymore. I don't believe it. I mean, is that it?

Summer: That's where you're at? try to help you. I helped you find your mother. Have you seen her today, by the way?

Summer: No, not yet, but--

Brady: Well, do her a favor, and don't. Just don't see her.

Summer: Wow.

Brady: Yeah. Well, she's been through enough. She's been through enough... disappointment There's nothing you could say to her that's gonna make any difference.

Summer: So if I just disappear, that'll be better for her?

Brady: I will tell her that you left. She will understand. You can send a... postcard from wherever you end up, Summer.

Summer: And that'll be enough?

Brady: There's nothing more to do. You understand that? You understand that you blew it? You had your chance to get a new life here, and you took every opportunity and you blew it, you know why? The reason being was that you... you didn't step up.

Summer: You think I can never change.

Brady: I think... that you didn't.

Summer: You think I can't surprise you? Or help you, ever? You think that I wouldn't?

Brady: What could-- no, Summer--

Summer: You know, what if--

Brady: There is nothing--

Summer: There is something I can do for you, right here...

Brady: There's nothing you--

Summer: Right now. There is something that you would be so grateful for.

Brady: What are you talking-- hey! Stop it! I'm not playing with you right now.

Summer: Neither am I! What if I could help you?

Brady: You can't help me. The reason you can't help me is because you help yourself. That's how you operate. So stop pretending with me that it's gonna be any other way, because it's not. This is it. What are you--

Summer: We could've been so good together!

[Tate squealing, babbling]

Theresa: Hey, little man. Nope, I told you. This is yucky, nasty-wasty adult stuff, all right? Listen. Mm-kay. Apple juice for you, little dude. All right? That's your power drink, all right? There you go. Hey... what do you think, hmm? Is this too flashy for your old mom? I'm going for kind of classic lines with just a little bit of bling, you know? 'Cause it's our wedding. And you're gonna be there too, huh? You're gonna wear the world's coolest tuxedo onesie. You're gonna be there when Mommy and Daddy-- just, they choose to be together forever. Hmm? And then we're gonna be a real family. Yeah. So how does that sound, huh? Pretty awesome, huh? 'Kay.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: What the hell was that? Huh?

Summer: We both blew it, Brady. There was something here. I felt it and so did you.

Brady: No, whoa, whoa. Hold on a second. No. You listen to me right now. There was nothing ever romantic here at all, okay? We were friends, Summer. I love Theresa. I am being truthful with you, okay? My life... is with Theresa and Tate. You understand?

Summer: I tried. Remember that. Even if you think I didn't have it in me.

Brady: What are you talking about?

Summer: Good-bye, Brady.

Brady: What do you mean, you tried?

Hope: That was a great fantasy.

Aiden: I mean it.

Hope: I know you do.

Aiden: But you still look uncomfortable, and so I'm gonna shut up again.

Hope: No, Aiden, I don't want-- no, I don't want you to shut up. I want to hear what you have to say, even if it's hard for me to hear. It's the only way for us. We need to say whatever is on our minds. My feelings aren't the only ones that count in this room.

Aiden: Yeah, but you're the one who didn't ask for any of it. Now, look, I know Stefano was Satan, and he did all the real dirty work. But I let him in.

[Dramatic music]

Dario: So... "Take the money and run" won out, huh?

Summer: There is no way for me to stay in town now, even if I wanted to.

Dario: We could smoke out the blackmailer.

Summer: Yeah, and then what? He has a picture of me and Clark together. No, the guy might not know that Clark is dead, or what we did, but there's no reason to take a risk.

Dario: Are you sure?

Summer: Look, once I'm gone, you're in the clear.

Dario: Listen, I would never ask you to do something like this for me, but thank you.

Summer: You're welcome.

Dario: So what about the money?

Summer: I'm keeping that. I'm not a total idiot.

Dario: You're keeping the money? But if you don't do what they asked you to do with Tate, they're not gonna be happy.

Summer: You think so?

Aiden: So I, uh, guess we should go pack.

Hope: Uh, yeah, I-- we probably should.

Aiden: Hey, did you see those egrets flying by this morning?

Hope: I must've missed that.

Aiden: Yeah, I think they go down to the lake. Apparently, it's an amazing sight. Hundreds of them. Maybe we should just take a quick walk down and see.

Hope: Sure, uh... yeah, before we go.

Aiden: Yeah, around the lake. I mean, no one's expecting us, right? So we have time for that. We deserve to give ourselves a nice send off, right?

Hope: Sounds like a great idea.

Aiden: Good.

[Cell phone rings]

Rafe: Yeah? everything.

Dario: Yeah. Listen, Summer. Be safe. If you're gonna take the money, get as far away from here as you can, as fast as you can. There's enough there to buy you a new start. I still have contacts in Brazil.

Summer: Yeah, I'll be in touch.

Dario: Okay, let's go.

Summer: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What are you doing?

Dario: I'm taking you to the airport.

Summer: No!

Dario: Let me help you.

Summer: Look, it's... it's okay. I need to do this alone. Thank you for everything.

Dario: You're not gonna call, are you?

Summer: Take care of yourself, 'kay?

Theresa: Oh, hey. Guess what. Daddy's on his way. Huh? That's pretty awesome. Then we're all gonna play. So, Mommy's got to put this away, 'cause Daddy cannot see what her dress is gonna look like. No, he cannot. Come on, Theresa. Okay.

Rafe: Shawn. You get some answers?

Shawn: Yeah. So I was able to compare the samples from my mom and Aiden's marriage license to the sample that we got from Aiden when he came back.

Rafe: And?

Shawn: And they're both a match. It's the same person.

Rafe: [Whispers] Oh, my God.

Aiden: [Sighs] Well, was I right? Hmm? Was it worth it?

Hope: It was. It was gorgeous. Special place.

Aiden: Know what I love? Quiet.

Hope: Me too.

Aiden: Yeah.

Hope: I know what you're up to.

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: You're sure? It's not just the same blood type?

Shawn: I looked at the CPR markers. It's not a full DNA work-up, 'cause obviously that would take too much time, but it's 99% accurate. It's him.

Rafe: So the same guy who married Hope is the same guy who said he was kidnapped way before the wedding?

Shawn: Yeah. It's Aiden.

Rafe: Yeah, if that's even his real name. We don't know who the hell we're dealing with.

Shawn: We got to tell my mom. We got to get her away from this lunatic.

Rafe: I'm on it. Let me handle it.

[Phone beeps]

Rafe: What am I, uh, up to?

Hope: You are trying to make me sad. About leaving here. You want me to see how amazing it is and how great it is that I actually have time to enjoy it. That it's not absolutely necessary to leave.

Aiden: Guilty. Are you, uh, upset by that?

Hope: As far as manipulations... pretty mild.

Aiden: Yeah?

Hope: Yeah.

Aiden: Also very accurate. Is there anything that you've said...that isn't true?

Hope: No. Maybe all we need is just some more time together.

Aiden: Aw. Yeah.

Brady: Theresa? [Chuckles] Hey. Hey, hey, hey. Sleepyhead. You're conked out. Who has our boy?

Theresa: What?

Brady: Tate, w-where's... where is Tate?

[Dramatic music]

Brady: Theresa.

Theresa: Tate!
