Provided By SuzanneKayla: Steve, I'm fine.
Steve: Yeah, that's what you said before I left. It wasn't true.
Kayla: No, but I really am. I'm fine. I took the antidote and everything's good. You don't need to worry about me. In fact, I'm being discharged today.
Steve: I will find Joe.
Kayla: But you said you didn't have any new leads.
Steve: Babe, you need to have some faith, all right? I found Bo, didn't I? Everybody thought he dropped off the face of the earth. A runaway teenager who told his cousins where he's headed, that's easy.
Kayla: I hope so.
Steve: You just take care of yourself, okay?
Kayla: Okay. Tell Joey I love him.
Steve: I sure will.
Kayla: Hey, do you have my discharge papers?
Fynn: Yes. Wait, but you're not ready to go anywhere.
Kayla: No, no, no.
Fynn: You okay?
Joey: Hey. I've been thinking.
Joey: We should get out of here.
Joey: Today's our sentencing hearing.
Joey: So I never paid for what I did to Ava. And now our friends are gonna be in court, answering for what we all did. And it's not like the judge is gonna go easy on them for trashing another judge's car.
Jade: That's why we're here and not there. Joey, please don't tell me you want to go back to Salem.
Shawn: You, uh, you looking for these? [Chuckles]
Belle: Yep. Thanks.
Belle: I thought I was dreaming.
Shawn: I don't know. Me, too. Regrets?
Claire: Hey, mom, are you up? We're gonna be late for court.
Hope: Hey. Hi. You all set?
Hope: Oh, well, where's Thomas, honey?
Claire: Oh, uh, the morning nanny took him for a walk. She said that we can use her for as long as we need. Hey, mom, if they send us to jail, it doesn't mean that we have to go today, right?
Hope: That's the worst-case scenario. Honey, try to stay positive.
Ciara: How? My whole life is like the worst-case scenario right now.
Hope: Hey, we are definitely due for some good luck. That is for sure. It's gonna feel so much better once you get this over with.
Ciara: Yeah. Belle says that the judge is gonna make examples of us today. Especially now that Joey and jade have skipped out on bail.
Hope: Well, I hope they decide to do the right thing and show up in court today.
Ciara: Thank you so much for going with me.
Hope: Where else would I be?
Ciara: Well, I know you have a lot going on right now. And I know that you've been freaked out about Aiden.
Hope: Aiden is the last thing I want to think about right now. Let's focus on trying to get you through the day, okay?
Aiden: My son.
Chase: Dad? Can't be...
Aiden: Didn't they tell you?
Chase: Yeah, but I thought it was a joke. You're supposed to be dead. What the hell?
Steve: Well, good news is, the kids haven't shown up at a police station or a hospital in the area.
Karl: Uh-huh, bad news is, we have no idea where they are.
Steve: Man, I wish I'd never given him that bike. How we doing on surveillance footage? Red light cameras and such.
Karl: Sure, only take about a million hours to watch video from the entire greater la area.
John: Well, then, you're gonna need all the help you can get, aren't you?
Steve: That's my partner.
Fynn: How long have you been feeling light-headed?
Kayla: I--I'm not. I don't.
Fynn: Well, it's understandable you're still weak from the virus. But these symptoms could be from the head injury.
Kayla: They're not.
Fynn: How do you know that? Do you want to pass out again? Don't you want to be well when Joey gets back?
Kayla: Of course I do.
Fynn: Well, then, let's try this again. Do you have any other symptoms?
Kayla: Seriously, no, nothing, really. Nothing to worry about. Look, I--I have a little tension headache. I just spoke to Steve. He doesn't have any idea where Joey is.
Fynn: Kayla, just keep calm.
Kayla: How am I supposed to be calm? How am I supposed to be calm? I don't know where my son is, and I don't even know if he's okay.
Jade: My parents kicked me out, remember? I'm supposed to be in Florida picking fruit, and if we show up in Salem now, we're going directly to jail.
Joey: The judge doesn't know yet that we skipped bail.
Jade: But we'd never make it back in time for the hearing.
Joey: I just can't keep breaking the law.
Jade: It's not like we're gonna hurt anybody.
Joey: We robbed a store.
Jade: We drove the getaway car. We didn't know Dirk was gonna do what he did.
Joey: We know now.
Jade: I thought you wanted to live a life of adventure like your dad.
Joey: How is this an adventure? We're sitting in the middle of the desert--doing nothing but arguing.
Jade: Do you want to live on a park bench in Santa Monica? 'Cause that's all we can afford. My aunt Simon is giving us a place to crash for free.
Joey: I know why you want to stay. It's that guy Dirk, isn't it?
Jade: God, would you forget about Dirk? He's a moron, okay? Now you're acting just like him.
Joey: You know what? You can come with me or not. Either way, I'm out of here.
Belle: I'm sorry, honey. I slept through my alarm but I'll be ready in just a minute.
Claire: Okay. I'll just wait in the living room.
Shawn: Look, I should probably--
Shawn: I guess that answers my question.
Shawn: That you don't want Claire to know that we're back together.
Belle: Back together?
Shawn: You know what I mean.
Belle: Listen, Shawn, I know I said I didn't have too much to drink last night, but I--
Shawn: You didn't know what you were doing when you got in bed with me?
Belle: Of course I knew what I was doing. I just think what you said was right. In the light of day, it... it's just more complicated than all that, and we really don't have time to have this conversation right now because we both have to be in court.
Shawn: Well, I don't know how you expect me to do that when Claire's in the living room and you don't want her to know I'm here.
Belle: Sorry. I'm sorry. I just don't want today to be more fraught for her, okay?
Shawn: Look, I know. For the record, belle, I don't regret anything from last night. I haven't felt that close to you in a long time.
Belle: Me too. I have to get in the shower.
Shawn: Go. Go. Shh.
Claire: Mom, I know you don't want to think about Aiden, but I can't stop thinking about him. He doesn't believe that chase raped me.
Hope: It doesn't matter what Aiden believes.
Claire: Yes, it does. He's gonna try to get chase out of jail; I know he is.
Hope: Chase confessed.
Claire: So? Aiden's an amazing lawyer. I mean, did he say anything to you? Mom, I don't know what I'm gonna do if chase gets out.
Hope: I will not let that happen, Ciara. It's gonna be fine. Come on. Let's deal with this.
Aiden: And I'm ashamed to say that I, uh, got myself in a lot of debt. Found myself beholden to Stefano DiMera.
Aiden: It's complicated. In short, he, uh... wanted me to do something that I, uh... couldn't do. And when I refused to cooperate, he, uh, found someone else to do the job.
Chase: Someone else who happens to look exactly like you? And now he's dead. Where have you been all this time?
Aiden: I don't believe this. I... aaah! [Groaning]
André: Father and I always thought you'd be too squeamish to finish the job you were hired to do, and we were right, weren't we? Come, let's take him out.
They held me captive and, uh... took me many months to get back here to you. And I am sorry that you were alone. But I'm back now, okay? I'm back, and I'm gonna get you out of here. We're gonna--we're gonna get you home.
Chase: I don't have a home. Hope and Ciara should have thrown me out as soon as you... they didn't, dad. Hope was very generous and I... I repaid them by doing something so terrible. I can't even say it. Can't live with myself, Dad, and I definitely don't deserve to get out of here.
Aiden: Hey, don't you say that. Look, whatever happened, Ciara obviously had been through a very terrible time. You know, maybe she's making it out to be a lot worse than it actually is.
Chase: She said no. And I didn't listen to her. I didn't stop. I raped her. And I hate myself for it.
Aiden: Don't... okay. You need to listen to me. You are a good kid. And you lost your way a little bit. Chase, you just need help. Professional help, okay? You don't need this. You don't need jail.
Chase: Dad, why do you think I lost my way? 'Cause I don't know you at all. I thought about everything those people said about mom. They think you killed her. Now, I always defended you. Now I can't help but wonder.
Aiden: Chase, please--
Chase: Evil son of a bitch. Turned out exactly like you.
John: Nice to meet you, Karl.
Karl: You too.
Steve: John is the other half of black patch investigations.
John: The better half.
Steve: Hardy har. Hey, man, shouldn't you be in a hospital bed? When I left Salem, he was in quarantine along with my wife.
John: No worries. I have been cleared by my own personal doctor.
Karl: Yeah, well, I'll be right here. Working.
John: Guy's real warm and fuzzy, isn't he?
Steve: He's all right.
John: So what have you got?
Steve: Well, we think that jade and Joe might have planned to stay with an aunt who lives in the area. The last address we have on her isn't current.
John: Hmm. Kids don't have any money, do they?
Steve: Well, not much, if any.
John: So I'm assuming you already checked in with the local police?
John: All right, so either jade and Joey have been keeping their nose clean so far or...
Steve: Or they haven't.
Steve: Karl. Hold on a second. Can you rewind that? Just a little bit. Freeze right there. Zoom in on the driver of that getaway car.
John: You think it might be Joey? Can't see his face.
Steve: I don't need to see his face. He's wearing my jacket.
Jade: Joey, please don't go.
Jade: Because I want us to be together.
Joey: Then come with me.
Jade: How are we gonna live? We can't get jobs. We can't use our real names to fill out applications, and California is crazy expensive. What's so bad about this place? Everybody here loves it.
Joey: Because they're high.
Jade: So? We came here to have fun. Can't we start doing that now?
Fynn: I bet your son takes after you. Tough guy.
Kayla: Well, I don't know how tough I am.
Fynn: Says the woman that was treating patients from her sick bed. You have no idea how afraid I was that I-- that we were gonna lose you.
Kayla: Well, you did take good care of me. Thank you. But if I'm so tough, don't you think I'm well enough to leave the hospital? And I know this is a trick question, but who is the boss here?
Fynn: Fine. Go home. Get out of my hair.
Kayla: Well, I'm just gonna go home and pack a bag.
Kayla: Yeah, I'm gonna go to los Angeles and help Steve find Joey.
Fynn: Kayla, are you serious? Forget everything I said. There's no way in hell I'm letting you do that.
Aiden: Chase. I'm sorry that that time was so painful for you... and your mother. For all of us. You got to believe me. I didn't kill your mother. I could never take another life. That's what Stefano DiMera wanted me to do, and I couldn't go through with it.
Chase: So Stefano had you replaced with a double? Do you really expect me to believe that crap?
Aiden: Am I sitting here, living and breathing? He's the one who died. And I'm so thankful to be back with you. Look, I know this is a lot to take in, and you're gonna need time to heal, but thank God we have that. We have time. We both have a lot to answer for, to make up to the people we care about, but we can. We will.
Aiden: First thing we do is get you out of here. I'm gonna get you the help you need, and once that happens, things will get better. I don't have a doubt in my mind.
Belle: Good morning.
Hope: Hi. Hey, sweetheart.
Belle: Hey, honey.
Hope: Hi, sweetheart.
Ciara: Hi. Where's Henry?
Belle: He's gonna meet us in court. Has anyone seen Joey or jade?
Hope: No, Steve's still out looking for them.
Ciara: Um, Theo says good luck. He would be here, but he has an exam.
Hope: Just learned who our judge is. KC Lerner.
Belle: And that's not good news?
Hope: Oh, she's my favorite judge when I'm testifying for the prosecution.
Belle: Okay, well, all right. Listen to me, girls. When we get into that courtroom, you need to do exactly what we talked about yesterday. Show genuine remorse, don't try to blame any of this on mark.
Claire: Even though it's his fault?
Belle: Claire, you have to take responsibility for your actions. I don't want to hear this kind of talk from you anymore.
Shawn: Oh, hey, hey, guys. Hey, mom.
Hope: Hey, sweetie.
Shawn: Oh, sorry I'm late.
Belle: You're not.
Claire: What are you smiling about?
Claire: Oh, okay, you were all pissed at me, and then dad walks in, and all of a sudden... okay, why are you wearing the same clothes you had on yesterday?
Belle: All right, I--
Shawn: I pulled an all-nighter at the lab.
Belle: I think we should get going.
Shawn: Um, listen, I'll be with you in a minute. I just got to grab a tie real fast, okay? All right, good luck. You, do everything that your mom says, please.
Shawn: You, please, next time mark or anybody gives you any crap, talk to your big brother, okay?
Lani: Hey, so what was that about?
Shawn: My--my daughter and my sister are being sentenced because of that incident with the judge's car.
Lani: I know. I meant, what's going on with you and your ex?
Joey: Nobody's stealing beef jerky or six bottles of hot sauce because they're hungry. If that's your idea of fun, I'm out.
Jade: You know, I'm gonna talk to Aunt Simone, and I will figure out what we can do around here to help. Just give it one more week.
Joey: And if I still want to leave, then what?
Jade: I don't want to lose you, Joey. I won't.
Steve: Thanks for coming over.
John: Sorry your place got ripped off, man.
So you might have a lead, huh?
Steve: Well, unfortunately we think my son might have been involved. Were you working that night?
Unluckily for me.
John: You know who else was there?
Just me and that punk kid.
Steve: What did that punk kid look like?
Brown hair, brown eyes, about my height.
Steve: That's it? That's all you got?
I'm sorry, I was too busy looking down the barrel of his gun to take notes.
John: Yeah, we understand that.
Cops had me for three hours that night, asking the same questions over and over.
John: All right, so now that you've had a little more time to process the situation, anything else come to mind?
Karl: Yeah, he got like a birth mark? The way he walked? Anything?
There was this one thing. I'm not sure if it'll mean anything.
Steve: I'll take anything you can give me.
Kayla: You can't forbid me from going.
Fynn: Look, I'm talking to you as your friend, not as your doctor. You cannot fly. Too many changes in cabin pressure could cause your hematoma to destabilize--
Kayla: Well, you know what? I--I'll drive, then.
Fynn: Oh, yeah, that's a great idea. You're weak, you're dizzy. It's the perfect time to set out on a thousand-mile jaunt. You're not putting your life at risk but everyone else's on the road.
Kayla: Fine, I will take a train, but you're not talking me out of it. Give me the discharge papers. Thank you. You know what? You don't have a child. You don't know how it feels.
Fynn: Steve is a professional investigator. You don't trust him to bring Joey home safe? I mean, give the kid some credit. He's 18. Don't you think he can handle himself--
Kayla: You know what? I lived in los Angeles. Steve and Joey didn't. Here. And if I can go and I can help, you're not gonna talk me out of it.
Fynn: All right. But you're not going without me.
Lani: Well, last time I saw you and belle, I thought you were gonna kill each other, and now you're holding hands.
Shawn: Uh, we... weren't really holding hands. We were just, um, we were trying to let Claire know that we're all in this together. That's all.
Lani: Then we're still on for tonight?
Shawn: Listen, uh, do you-- do you mind if we play it by ear? I mean, I'm not really sure how this hearing's gonna go, and, you know, I want to be there for Claire just in case she needs me.
Lani: For Claire.
Lani: Shawn, are we okay?
Shawn: Yeah, yeah, we're good, you know--
Lani: That's all I needed to know. Good luck today.
Kayla: You can't drop everything and drive me across the country. I mean, you have-- you've got patients.
Fynn: Yeah, so do you.
Kayla: Well, I was planning on you covering for me.
Fynn: Well, I was planning on taking that trip to Sydney, remember?
Kayla: Oh, yeah, right.
Fynn: Plus, look, I'd love to visit Cali again. It's my old stomping grounds. Plus, I know the territory too.
Kayla: I--I couldn't ask you to do that.
Fynn: Well, you're not asking me; I've always wanted to drive route 66. Now I've got an excuse. Let's go.
The guy holding the gun, he had some sort of mark on his hands.
John: Mark? Can you describe it?
Like a scar. It was in the shape of a scorpion.
Steve: Well, that's pretty unusual.
It looked like a brand. Your son's part of a gang, isn't he?
John: Good job, man. Appreciate it.
Steve: Listen, if, uh, we find out my son was involved, I will make restitution.
Karl: And we'll let you know what we come up with.
Karl: What do you think?
John: Gentlemen, I think we got ourselves a lead here.
Steve: But the scorpion on the hand--any local biker gangs use that?
Karl: Uh, well, maybe. Well, it's not a gang, per se, but there's a group of runaways in a commune up in the Mojave, and they--
Steve: In this century? [Scoffs] What?
Karl: Yeah, well, they knocked over a couple of stores last winter. They reeked of weed and fancied themselves "artistes."
Steve: I don't like the sound of that.
John: Karl, what else do you know about this group?
Steve: Sweetness? Hey. You okay?
Kayla: Yeah, I just wanted to let you know that I'm being released from the hospital.
Steve: Well, that's great.
Kayla: And I'm gonna come out there and help you find Joey.
Steve: No way in hell.
Claire: So do you think running mark out of town would count as community service?
Belle: Okay, do you want the judge to send you to jail?
Claire: Wow, geez, mom, I'm kidding.
Ciara: So what happens to Joey and jade since they never showed up?
Shawn: Well, there's a warrant out for their arrest.
Ciara: That sucks.
Hope: Girls, I hope you realize how lucky you are. Judge Lerner is hard-core.
Belle: You're both very lucky, but you also both have an arrest record that's gonna follow you forever so if you ever break the law again--
Claire: Yeah, we won't.
Belle: Good. Well, I know we were all a little nervous earlier. You want to go have lunch now?
Claire: Yeah, I do.
Shawn: Yeah, sure.
Ciara: Um, I should get back to work.
Hope: Um, I'm sure Chad would understand.
Ciara: Yeah, well, I'm not really hungry, either. Thanks anyway, belle. I'll see you later?
Claire: Yeah, okay. Bye.
Hope: Belle, thank you.
Belle: My pleasure.
Hope: Bye, sweetheart. You got to eat.
Ciara: I will when I get back home. Because of Thomas, that's like, the only place that I actually feel useful and normal.
Hope: Nanny job is going well? Hmm?
Ciara: Yeah, it's great. Chad's really understanding about letting me have time off, and I know that he's going through a really hard time right now.
Hope: I'm glad you can help.
Ciara: Yeah, I feel like he feels less lonely when I'm there.
Steve: Kayla, listen. I would love to have you here, but you're not well enough to travel.
Kayla: Why do you always have to do everything on your own?
Steve: I'm not. I got an old ISA buddy helping me out on the case, and John just flew in.
Kayla: Oh, well, John had the virus too, and he gets to fly and I don't?
Steve: He doesn't also have a ticking time bomb in his head. Now would you clear a patient in your condition to get on a plane?
Kayla: Well, I'm not gonna get on a plane. I'm--I'm driving.
Steve: That's even worse.
Kayla: Well, I'm being driven. Fynn has offered to drive me, and I'm going to take him up on his generous offer.
Jade: Aunt Simone. So you know how you said we had to contribute to the commune in order to stay?
Simone: Yes, I do.
Jade: Well, we want to do that, but stealing stuff is not really Joey's forte. We were wondering what else we could do to, you know, earn our way.
Simone: Well, I prefer to call it "helping ourselves," and it's really not about the goods.
Joey: It's not?
Simone: No, it's about leaving behind the fear. We're our own society here. We make our own rules.
Jade: That's cool. My parents make rules for everything.
Simone: Mm-hmm. Now we're just taking back what's ours, but never from anyone who doesn't deserve it. This is a collective. If you want to stay, we'll find another way for you to do your part.
Jade: Thank you.
Simone: Mm, you're welcome, sweetie.
Jade: See, Joey? What's not to like about this place? Compared to home--
Joey: No, it's cool, I just--
Dirk: You guys are sticking around, right?
Dirk: Ready to become official?
Dirk: Haven't you guys noticed you're the only ones around here who don't have one of these?
Joey: You've got to be kidding me.
Hope: What are you doing here?
Aiden: I, uh, I just came back from seeing chase, and he hasn't slept in days.
Hope: Neither has my daughter.
Ciara: Did he tell you that it was a mistake? Or a misunderstanding? Did he tell you that it was my fault?
Aiden: No, no, Ciara, he accepts full blame for everything he did.
Ciara: Wow, how generous of him.
Aiden: He truly is sorry. He is. In fact, he doesn't even want me to represent him. I--
Ciara: Are you gonna help him get off? Even though you know he's guilty?
Hope: Ciara, I told you. I don't want you to worry. Chase is not getting out.
Ever since you came back, all you've done is tell me how much you love me, how much you care about Ciara.
Aiden: And I do.
Hope: You asked what you could do to make all of this up to me. Aiden, if you loved me, if you ever truly loved me, then you will let justice be served, and you will not talk to my daughter about this ever again. How dare you confront her in the town square?
Aiden: I am sorry that that happened. Ciara, I am sorry about all of it. But, hope, can you and I just go somewhere and talk?
Hope: No. I need to be with my daughter. Come on, baby.
Dirk: Who wants to go first?
Jade: I'll do it. I don't care.
Joey: You don't have to prove anything, jade.
Dirk: But you want to be one of us, though, don't you?
Jade: [Sighs] [Skin sizzles] Aah! [Yelps] Ow! Cool! Oh, that hurt way less than a tat. It's your turn. Do it for me?
Steve: Kayla, I don't want to be worried about both you and Joe.
Kayla: Well, you don't have to worry about me because I am going to be traveling with my personal physician.
Steve: That doesn't make me feel any better.
Kayla: What's that supposed to mean?
Steve: You're not needed here.
Kayla: Well, too bad. You're going to see me in a few days.
[Phone line clicks]
Hope: Ciara, I'm sorry you had to see Aiden again.
Ciara: He's back, and you can't protect me, and thank you for trying, but he didn't exactly say that he wasn't going to represent chase.
Hope: It's the first time he acknowledged that chase is guilty, though.
Ciara: So? Getting guilty people off is his job, and he loves his son more than he loves us, and if he has to pick a side, it's not ours. Mom, I know you loved him, but I hate both of them, and if chase gets out, I don't know what I'm going to do.
Hope: Do you mean to yourself?
Ciara: No, to him.
Aiden: [Sighs] Hello?
André: Hello, Aiden. Have you forgotten me?
André: That's right. I'm just tired of using all my phone calls on you.
Aiden: Why? You don't have anyone else to call?
André: Have you forgotten what we discussed? I was to tell not a soul how close you came to killing your beloved hope, and you'd set me free.
Aiden: I'm working on it.
André: Oh, you've been using excuses since the first day I met you. So I don't want to tell hope that you're lying to her... still. So the choice is yours. You get me out of here, or you face the consequences.
