You're my downtown...
Belle: Josh... how 'bout another one?
Josh: Did you drive?
Belle: I promise, I won't drive home. Now, please--
Belle: Mm. Well, this isn't an accident, is it?
Shawn: Josh called.
Shawn: Look, that's because I'd called here earlier looking for you.
Belle: Yeah, save it.
Shawn: And he knew I was concerned--
Belle: Oh, save it, please.
Shawn: Look, I'm sorry, belle. I'm sorry. All right, I--I shouldn't have come down on you so hard.
Shawn: I know you're trying, and I know that you're gonna do great for Claire in court tomorrow.
Belle: Well, I just want her to get her little butt locked up.
Shawn: Well, she already went to jail. I'd like to think that she learned her lesson.
Belle: Oh, she is so stubborn.
Shawn: Well, I wonder where she got that from.
Shawn: The both of us.
Belle: I know.
Shawn: You want me to give you a ride home? Come on, you gotta be in good shape for the judge tomorrow morning, bright and early.
Belle: Okay. Yeah, a ride would be good.
You're my anytime...
Shawn: Oops. Good one.
Yeah you're my anytime connection
Kate: What the hell are you doing?
Hope: What do you think you're doing?
Nicole: Don't bother knocking. Just barge right in.
Kate: Well, I didn't see the necessity since I'm in the possession of a key.
Nicole: Well, aren't you special? Hmm.
Kate: You've made yourself comfortable.
Nicole: I'm not comfortable. Actually, it's a little itchy. I mean, I loved it when I saw it in the closet, but now that I have it on, I--no.
Kate: That belongs to me.
Nicole: Why, Kate, whatever do you mean?
Kate: What I mean is that you need to get dressed now and get the hell out of here.
Belle: I can stand, Shawn. I'm fine. I'm fine, I'm just beat. Ugh! Beat up.
Belle: Okay, I'm fine.
Shawn: I'm sorry.
Belle: It's okay. Tomorrow is another day, right?
Shawn: Hey, come here, come here. Let me--let me do it. Let me do it, let me do it.
Belle: [Chuckling, moaning]
Shawn: Uh-uh, listen. Belle, listen. We're not gonna do this.
Belle: Why not?
Shawn: Well, because, unlike you, I haven't had anything to drink, and, well, that's just for starters.
Aiden: I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to happen, okay? All right, look, I did. I did mean that. And my only defense is that, hope, I missed you so much.
Rafe: Bourbon, neat. I'll let you know when it's time to stop.
Nicole: Honestly, Kate, I don't know what you're getting so worked up about.
Kate: Just get dressed, Nicole.
Nicole: Look, I'm just trying to show a little modesty here. I mean, it's not like I'm, say, upstairs in one of the bedrooms where I may not feel compelled to cover up. I mean, this is the living room, after all, where anyone could just waltz in.
Kate: Deimos, I'm back. Deimos!
Nicole: Is he expecting you? Because he never mentioned that.
Kate: Do you think that I don't know what your agenda is? Because it's as brazenly naked as you are under that robe. But it's not gonna work.
Shawn: Come on, I'm gonna put some coffee on for you.
Belle: Oh, no, don't go. No, come on, just sit right here next to me. Please. I'm feeling so embarrassed and so disappointed in myself.
Belle: Don't what?
Shawn: Come on, don't beat yourself up, okay?
Belle: Oh, come on, how can I not? I've failed at pretty much everything.
Shawn: Oh, no, don't say-- don't say that, all right?
Belle: You know what? I have an idea. Let's play a game, okay? I'll name a category, and then you tell me where I've gone right.
Shawn: No, listen--no, I don't want to play that.
Belle: No, no, no, it's gonna be fun. I'll be fun. Okay, we'll start with the most important category first. Motherhood. [Chuckles] No standing ovation there, right? Right, so we should just, uh-- we'll move on to the next category, and that would be: Being a daughter. Well, I guess my mom would have to chime in on that one, and she's probably sound asleep right now. Ooh, shh. So we'll just move on to the next category, which-- ooh, it's the big one. It's the big one, okay? Drum roll. Wifedom. I don't think that's a word. We should probably come up with something else for that. How 'bout, uh... being a wife? [Laughs] Wow, your silence speaks volumes, Shawn Brady. So I guess we agree that when it comes to screwing up, I check all the boxes.
Shawn: You know what, I'm gonna go get the coffee, all right?
Belle: No. No, no, no. No, really, wait. I need to--I need to tell you that I'm not, uh-- oh, God, what's the word? Oblivious. I'm not oblivious to when our relationship started going downhill. I know it's when I cheated on you back in Maine. And you may be oblivious to the fact that I will feel guilty about that the rest of my life. And not just because it hurt you, but because it hurt our daughter. And me. [Sobs] How could I be so stupid? You know, it's the one concrete moment that I can point to and I can truly say my life has been a hot mess since then.
Shawn: Listen to me, there is no point to any of this--
Belle: There is a point. I-I need to--I need to say this out loud so that it'll make it go away a little. The pain, I mean. Oh, God, I might be hurting you more than I already have, and I don't want to do that, Shawn. Oh, God, and I've already just hit a new low, getting drunk and making out with my one-time husband. And it would be funny if it wasn't so cliché, and it would be sad if--no, it's just sad. It's just really, really sad, kissing someone who doesn't want anything to do with you.
Shawn: No. Listen to me, don't you say that. Don't ever say that.
Hope: You shouldn't be here. You shouldn't have come back. You say you've been through hell, but so have I. My God, so has my daughter, and she's still going through hell. I have to figure out a way to help her.
Aiden: I know. I know. Look, maybe now is not the best time to ask you this, but you are the most important person in my life. And I feel I deserve to know, are you in love with Rafe Hernandez?
Shawn: I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you're hurting. I'm sorry that you're feeling down on yourself. And I know--I know, belle, that sometimes I'm--I'm the cause of that. Like the other night at the police station.
Belle: No, I had that coming.
Shawn: No. No, you didn't. Come on, it's not like I haven't screwed up before. I mean, come on, hell, we all have, haven't we? And we all wish that we just-- we just had another shot. Another shot to be able to go back and fix things. You know, fix things before-- before too much is lost. You know, which actually-- which reminds me, I know that this seems like a non sequitur, but I swear to you I'll bring it around, okay?
Belle: Okay, trust you.
Shawn: So the other day, the cable guy came, and then when he left I just stood there, staring at six remotes. Six.
Shawn: And I--I mean, I still don't know what they all do. And then I had this thought. I had this thought that wouldn't it be great if instead of being able to fast forward, rewind, pause and all that with our television shows, that we could do it with our real lives? I mean, kinda like--like, damn, how did I forget my mom's birthday? And, you know, you just... [Makes rewinding noise] Rewind! Problem solved.
Belle: Or I wish I would have been more patient with Claire on the phone this morning. [Makes rewinding noise] Rewind. All's well in the Brady household.
Shawn: Exactly! Or even better, even better. You know, you're in the middle of a heated argument with your ex-wife, and you're about to accuse her of being a bad mother, and you just--you push pause. And you take some time, and you think about it. I mean, nobody really wants to cause anyone else pain. Especially when there's absolutely no truth to it. You're the mother of my daughter. You've given me a gift that I will always be grateful for. And so I guess that-- I guess that we're just gonna have to accept that, like it or not, you and I will always be bonded for the rest of our lives.
Roman: Rafe, got a question for you. Just how hung-over a detective am I gonna have in the morning? Look, I know I'm about to state the obvious, but drowning your sorrows in booze might do the trick in the moment, but--
Rafe: I know. I know, okay? I got it. I'm just about to stop. I just can't believe it. Now hope's gotta go through all this?
Roman: I assume you mean Aiden?
Rafe: After everything that she has been through, the son of a bitch shows up on her doorstep with this cock-and-bull story-- now what? They're just supposed to pick up right where they left off?
Roman: Look, it's a lot for you to handle too. So you listen to me, all right? Rafe, I know I'm your boss, but I'm also your friend. So if you want to vent--
Rafe: I don't want to vent! Okay, roman? I don't. Besides, I know what this is all about.
Roman: What the hell are--
Rafe: You know, hope's going through a crisis right now. A crisis! And you're gonna turn this into some sort of complaint about department rules? Fraternization or some crap. I don't give a damn about the rules! Okay? I don't! I care about hope. And yes, we are involved. Get used to it.
Hope: Why would you ever think you deserve anything from me?
Aiden: I'm sorry, I didn't--
Hope: And the answer is yes. Rafe and I are involved.
Aiden: Wow. Is it serious or... don't answer that. Of course, it is. [Sighs] It's a familiar position I find myself in. Except last time it was Bo who had your heart. Now it's Rafe. But your connection to Rafe, maybe it's stronger because he's here in the flesh. Right? He's a great guy. Probably never lied to you. Maybe he wouldn't put himself in a horrible situation like I did, right? I just hope he loves you the way you deserve to be loved. Unconditionally. Oh, yeah, I know I was a fool to think that we could just pick up where we left off, I could win you back. Sorry. Sorry about all the mistakes. I hope you know that.
Hope: Aiden, wait.
Nicole: Well, while we're on the subject of agenda, perhaps you can share with me what yours is.
Nicole: Would it be cynical of me to assume that your interest in Deimos has very little to do with your heart going pitter-patter every time he walks into a room and more to do with your greed kicking in because Deimos now controls Victor's empire?
Kate: Wow, I don't need anyone's money, Nicole.
Nicole: No, of course. I mean, it's obvious you're deeply in love with Deimos. Even though you barely know him notwithstanding.
Deimos: Clothes are out of the dryer, Nicole. Kate, hi. I thought you were going home to pack.
Kate: I did, and my luggage is in the car. We're getting married. In fact, we're flying to Vegas tomorrow.
Nicole: Well, I better get dressed.
Kate: [Scoffs] I warned you, didn't I? Not to play games with people, especially me. 'Cause it can backfire... explosively. Like it has now.
Belle: Your words mean a lot to me. They really help.
Shawn: But--but what? I don't understand.
Belle: I just need to stop messing up our daughter's life. You know, because she's the one who ends up paying. I mean, you and Philip have both talked to me about spoiling her and setting unrealistic expectations about stuff and--
Shawn: Look, belle, I wouldn't sell her short. She's a great kid. But unfortunately she is a teenager.
Belle: She's going to court tomorrow for vandalism. That's on me.
Shawn: No, no, come on. No, that's--that is on us.
Belle: No, it's not, but it needs to be. I can't do this all by myself. I need to do this with you.
Shawn: I mean, belle, you-- you heard my promises. You heard what I said. I don't--I don't know what more I can say.
Belle: There's nothing left to say.
Deimos: You need to get a hold of yourself, Kate. You're assuming facts that are not in evidence. There are no games being played here.
Kate: Really? A naked woman wearing only a robe, glasses of brandy out unfinished. Oh, do you have new brand of perfume? [Sniffs] Oh, no, no, no, that's right, because you don't wear perfume. You know, if a scent lingers on your clothes, it could at least be mine. You remember me, right? Your fiancée.
Roman: Really? I have never said ever that I had a problem with you and hope being involved. As a matter of fact, I made it pretty damn clear I'm in your corner. Isn't that right?
Rafe: Well, I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry. I--it's just a lot to deal with.
Roman: I get it, I get it.
Roman: Don't worry about it, all right? My advice? Pick your battle. Why fight me? From what I can see, your real fight is with Aiden.
Hope: Everything's changed. Everything. It's too late for us. And yes, I am falling in love with Rafe. We're good together.
Aiden: It was arrogant of me to tell you I wouldn't give up on us. Maybe--you know, maybe it's the fates telling me not to split focus, you know? Son in crisis. I need to help him. Yeah, I gotta help chase through this, clear his name.
Hope: Clear him? Have you forgotten who you're talking to? Your son is a rapist. And that's never gonna change, no matter where you put your focus.
Aiden: Okay, look, I didn't mean it like that, and I sounded insensitive, but, look, if the situation were reversed--
Hope: But it's not! It's not reversed. Your son... raped my daughter. He belongs in jail, Aiden. Please... I'm begging you, okay? For Ciara's sake, don't do anything to change that. Please.
Belle: I'm sober now. I promise.
Shawn: I know, I know, but... today--listen, today isn't tomorrow. In the cold light of day--
Belle: I'm not gonna regret anything. Please, don't go. It's been such a long time since I felt this close to you.
Rafe: And hope's head is spinning. It's spinning. She doesn't know what to think anymore. She loved the guy, and then she hated him. And now she finds out he comes back and he's some kind of a victim just like she was.
Roman: And now you think Aiden's gonna take advantage of her?
Rafe: Mm. No, Roman, I don't think. I know.
Roman: Then what the hell are you doing sitting here, pounding down bourbon, yelling at me? Seriously? Is this the best response you've got to the problem? Seriously?
Rafe: No. No. No, it sure as hell isn't.
Roman: Good, good. Why don't you get some coffee in you, get the hell out of here, go make your case?
Aiden: Hope, you made yourself very clear on how you feel. But we're talking about my son here, and you can't just ask me to abandon him.
Hope: I can. I just did. You weren't here, Aiden. You have no idea what Ciara went through.
Aiden: Hope, I'm trying to wrap my head around it. I am trying to understand when I saw her--
Hope: When you saw her?
Aiden: Yeah, I'm trying to make sense out of this, okay? Look, I care about her. I always have.
Hope: You care about her?
Hope: Then you stay the hell away from her. That's not a request. That's an order.
Aiden: Hope, I am not trying to hurt Ciara or you, but we're talking about my son.
Hope: Your son? Your son? Your son is where he belongs, behind bars. Ciara's been through enough. She needs to feel safe.
Aiden: Hope, listen to me, please. Okay, I--I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't know how many more ways that I can say I am sorry. I hope you and Rafe have a wonderful life. You deserve to be happy, be loved. That's all I want for you. I know you--you need me to back off. And I will.
Hope: Good. Then we understand each other.
Deimos: You are coming dangerously close.
Kate: To what?
Deimos: Trust me, you don't want to find out.
Kate: Oh, really? Are you insinuating that I may be crossing some imaginary line? Well, let me tell you, you've already crossed it!
Deimos: Really? And how is that?
Kate: You know, I may have been testing you. You were certainly testing me. But when I left here tonight, marriage was on the table, but when I come back I find out that that commitment means nothing to you! Because it took about ten seconds for Nicole get her hooks into you.
Deimos: Did it ever occur to you that maybe I was playing her? That maybe, just maybe, I was curious to find out what she was up to? And for your information, I don't apologize for anything I do, so get used to it.
Kate: Well, neither do I. And you better remember that. He's all yours. You can kill each other for all I care.
[Pounding on door]
Hope: Rafe. Are you all right?
Rafe: I'm not losing you.
Hope: Who said you were?
Rafe: We've been through too much, come too far. I love you. I don't care what Aiden wants or says or does, okay? I am not losing you.
Rafe: I'm not.
Nicole: I'm guessing the impending nuptials are off.
Deimos: Does seem to be that way, doesn't it? And what about you? Are you mad at me too?
Nicole: I'm not sure. Maybe. But I'm wondering how mad you are at me for causing any friction between you and her highness.
Deimos: Perhaps this will answer your question. Let me take you upstairs.
Nicole: What, no etchings?
Daniel: Nicole, don't mock me.
Nicole: Relax. Unlike Kate, I have a sense of humor. So you better get used to it. And the other big difference between me and Kate that you should know about... I prefer a commitment before I commit.
["Moonlight Sonata" plays]
Roman: Keep the change. Hey, Kate.
Roman: So lights off at your place too?
Kate: Sorry, sorry, I can't-- I can't talk right now. I have some things to think about.
Roman: All right, you got it.
Kate: A double martini, extra dirty.
["Moonlight Sonata" continues]
Nicole: Victor, it's me. Good, actually. Exactly as I planned so far. So you can call Justin and whoever else you have waiting in the wings and tell them to back off Deimos. I've got it covered.
