[Soft guitar music]
Theresa: Hey, you've been in the office since we got Tate down to sleep.
Brady: Yeah. Yeah, I know. [Clears throat]
Theresa: Oh, you were looking over those budgets Nicole and I gave you, weren't you?
Brady: Yeah, line for line.
Brady: I'm gonna be honest with you. They are great. No, they're terrific.
Brady: They're doable--yeah, they're rational, they make sense, it's--
Theresa: Oh, good. Good, good, good.
Theresa: Hey, but you know we don't even have clothes in the store yet, so...
Brady: It doesn't matter. We have orders. And if they're as beautiful as this, or something like this, you're gonna be in the black before the fiscal year is half over.
Theresa: Oh, gosh.
Brady: I'm so proud of you.
Theresa: How can I ever thank you for having faith in me this whole time, hmm?
Brady: Hmm...let me think. I'll take dinner. I just want dinner.
Theresa: What? Oh, my God, what time is it? No wonder I'm starving. Oh, man, I forgot to get Emma to get the groceries, and, um... you know what? It's okay, I'll call the pub.
Brady: No, I don't want to go to the pub. I have a better idea.
Theresa: Yeah, what is that?
Brady: Well, we've done a lot of things, right? I mean, we've--we've raised a son together, we've moved in with each other, we've started a business together.
Brady: You even got me through a heart transplant, but there's one thing that you haven't done for me.
Theresa: What's that?
Brady: You haven't said yes to going out on a date.
Theresa: What? We've had dates.
Brady: Not really.
Theresa: You know, back in the day. [Laughs]
Brady: Let me rephrase.
Brady: I would like to take you out on a date where neither one of us is wasted. Hmm?
Theresa: Well, there is that.
Brady: There is that, so I'm gonna go in there, I'm gonna tell Emma that the adults are gonna go play and we're gonna be back very late. And can you--I love this dress, but can you put on something... sexy or something?
Theresa: Oh, yeah.
Brady: Maybe a little, just--
Theresa: I have something absolutely perfect. You know, you are full of good ideas tonight.
Maggie: No one told me that my baby died.
Maggie: I was young and selfish... and I just couldn't imagine being a mother, raising a child.
Summer: So...what are you saying?
Maggie: [Sobs] I made the choice. No one did it for me. And God forgive me. I gave you away.
Summer: Hey, dude. I need another. And keep 'em coming.
Hope: Wow. [Clears throat]
Rafe: Yeah. Okay. [Laughs] So... well, that happened.
Hope: It sure did.
Rafe: So the best thing for me to do right now is probably... get the hell out of here.
Hope: You could do that. Or you could...stay. And have a drink.
Hope: I think we could probably both use one. Unless you think--
Hope: Is that a bad idea?
Rafe: No, it's--
Hope: Do you think?
Rafe: I could really use a drink. Now.
Abigail: Don't touch him. No, don't touch him! Don't touch my baby! T--- Oh, my God, I'm... oh, I'm so sorry, I'm... I'm so sorry, I have--
Ciara: No, it's okay. It's okay. Sorry, he--he was crying and I didn't want him to wake you.
Abigail: I was...what-- I heard Thomas crying when I was sleeping and I... well, I opened up my eyes and I saw you here, but I thought--I didn't know it was real. I thought that it was Ben, I-- I'm so sorry.
Ciara: Yeah, um, no wonder you were scared.
Abigail: Why are you here? What are you doing here? You were...it's so late.
Ciara: Um, Chad called me and asked me to come over and take care of Thomas so you could sleep. But I guess I kind of blew it.
Abigail: Oh, no. No, no, no, you didn't. Hi. No, it was me. It's on me. Hi. Hi, are you okay? Oh, it's all right. It's okay, Thomas. Shh. Mommy's here. It's all right. It's okay.
Ciara: He'll be all right.
Abigail: Poor little guy.
Abigail: Um, did Chad say where he was going?
Ciara: Uh, no. He just said he needed to take care of something and he'll be back soon.
Ciara: What are you looking for?
Abigail: Uh, my phone. I need to find my husband.
Abigail: Okay. Shh, shh, shh. Thomas. Thomas, it's okay.
Hope: Right. I hope I made it right.
Rafe: Well, it's hard to mess up bou
Rafe: All right.
Hope: This is crazy.
Hope: I mean, it's not like, you know, we just met. We've known each other, I mean-- it's not like a first date or something like that.
Hope: We kissed, it happened, and I mean--what's the big deal? We kissed.
Hope: Yeah, it happened.
Hope: And it was nice.
Rafe: Damn nice.
Hope: You might even say, um... kind of incredible.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, now that you mention it, that was--I mean, that was my take on the whole...situation.
Hope: It can't happen again, Rafe.
Rafe: Oh, yeah, I mean... yeah?
Rafe: Yeah. If you feel that way, then...
Hope: Oh, thank God. I knew you'd feel the same way. You have a lot on your plate, too. I mean, your family. Mom's--your dad, your brother's in town.
Rafe: Yeah, my family is a plate full, there's no denying that.
Hope: You know how much our friendship means to me.
Rafe: Me, too.
Hope: Rafe, I'm scared. I mean... I don't want to mess this up. I don't want to mess our friendship up trying to make it more. I'm right, aren't I? Am I right?
Rafe: No. You're damn wrong.
Theresa: Wow. I am so glad you suggested going out tonight. I've just been so buried with work.
Brady: And worrying about grandfather and Maggie.
Theresa: Yeah, did you call the hospital?
Brady: Yeah. They're stable. That's good news, and the baby is with Emma, and you killed it on the proposal with Nicole, so let's celebrate.
Theresa: Okay, you are on, hot stuff.
Brady: You need to know... I really do appreciate the fact that you've been by my side this whole time.
Theresa: I will always, always have your back.
Donna: Brady, Theresa. It's so nice to see you.
Brady: Ah, good to see you too, donna. Um, do you have a table for two, please?
Donna: Absolutely. How's this?
Theresa: Um, actually, this is our first night out in a really long time, so do you have something maybe a little more private?
Donna: I think I do.
Summer: Excuse me. Where's the ladies' room?
Oh, that way.
Summer: Thank you.
Brady: What do you say we start with...mm, shrimp cocktail?
Theresa: Mm, definitely.
Summer: Hey, you guys.
Brady: Summer, hi. I didn't, uh--we didn't see you when we came in.
Theresa: Yeah, we only had eyes for each other.
Summer: I can see why. You look so beautiful. And look at you.
Theresa: Well, it's our first night out in a really long time.
Brady: Are you here with someone?
Summer: Like who?
Brady: I don't know, maybe Dario?
Summer: Forget about him. I have. I was actually on my way to the little girl's room.
Brady: Hey, hey, hey. Are you okay?
Summer: Yeah. Uh, yeah. I'm great. Why wouldn't I be? I just came here to unwind and, um... have some laughs.
Brady: You know what? Why don't you have a seat with us? And we'll get something to eat.
Rafe: Rafe, like I said, I'm scared. I'm scared that we're gonna mess up our friendship.
Rafe: We're already more than friends. That's why what just happened just happened.
[Cell phone rings]
Hope: Maybe you should get that.
[Cell phone rings]
Hope: Could be important.
[Cell phone rings]
Rafe: Nah, it can wait.
Rafe: Just hear me out. Please? Okay. What are you thinking?
Hope: [Sighs] [Laughs] I am thinking so many things. I'm thinking... I'm thinking how much I love being partners with you. It makes me look forward going to work in the morning because I know that you and I are in it together.
Hope: And I feel inspired by that. By you. But I'm scared. I'm really afraid that... Rafe, if we do get involved, I'm afraid that all of that would go away. It would all be over.
Rafe: Okay. Well, I think you're right. We are in this together. And think about how much more you would look forward to going to work in the morning. Right? I get it. I know you've been through hell lately. Especially when it comes to men. You're dealing with Ciara and everything that happened with her. Hey, you don't have to say anything right now. If you don't feel the same way about me or about us, it's okay.
Rafe: No, I'm cool. I--it's-- it's not a problem. I can handle it. It's just... [Sighs] I love you so much that I just can't hold that back anymore, okay? You know, I'm just waiting and I'm wondering and I--
[Cell phone beeps]
Rafe: For God's sake. [Sighs] It's Chad. Says it's urgent, so I've got to go.
Rafe: Okay. Well, to be continued.
Hope: To be continued.
Summer: Look, I'll be fine.
Brady: Well, you looked like you were about to cry, so...
Summer: It's 'cause I had a couple drinks.
Brady: When was the last time you had something to eat?
Summer: You know, I'm fine. I was just gonna hit the ladies' room and then I was gonna go back to the inn.
Theresa: Brady, please listen to her.
Brady: No, I think this is a little more than just having had too much to drink, Summer. I'm sorry, what happened? Was it Maggie? Did you have an argument with her? Tell me.
Summer: Why would you say that?
Brady: Well, you're drinking alone, for one.
Summer: Well, who do I know in this town besides you two and Nicole and Dario? I... look, I was bored. Okay? And, um, I decided to take myself out for a drink, okay? Don't make it a big deal.
Theresa: Yeah, just--come on, don't worry.
Brady: At least--listen, at let me ask the hostess to get you a cab back to the inn.
Summer: No, no, I want to walk, okay? Fresh air will do me some good, okay? You two have a great night, okay?
Theresa: Hey, come on. She seemed okay to me. Brady, you don't have to worry about her, all right? Let's just--come on, sit down.
Theresa: Where is our waitress?
Brady: I'll have donna send someone over.
Theresa: No, I'll do it. It's fine. Brady... please just let this go.
Brady: I can't--I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I can't. Something's wrong. I promise I won't be long. Do you need money?
Summer: No, I'm fine. I'm just looking for my phone. I just had it. I think I lost--
Brady: Summer, listen to me. Look at me--look at me. Stop saying everything's fine. I know it's not. Please tell me what happened.
Rafe: Hey. What's up?
Chad: Hey, did you hear about what happened?
Rafe: Yeah, I got briefed this afternoon. It's terrible.
Chad: It was the worst.
Rafe: Yeah. You okay?
Chad: I need you to swear to me that Ben's not gonna go right back to the institution that he just broke out of.
Rafe: Well, Ben is in intensive care in the burn unit right now.
Rafe: So what happens to him next is a judge's decision, not the police department's.
Rafe: Come on, that's not what I want to hear.
Rafe: Okay, but I'm--I'm, sure that the DA's gonna argue the case that Ben was able to execute his escape and outsmart a manhunt and make his way to your house to break in to torture Abigail, then certainly he is sane enough to be held responsible for his actions.
Chad: Yeah, which is why he should be in a maximum security prison.
Rafe: And I wish I could tell you that's the case, but I can't.
Chad: So, what? After everything that bastard did to Abby and my son, they're gonna, what, go easy on him?
Rafe: Chad, I didn't say that.
Chad: Then what are you saying? Because I am telling you, if he gets out again, then--
Rafe: Then what? Then what, Chad? Huh? You gonna take this matter into your own hands? 'Cause I can tell you, if you try that, it's gonna blow up in your face.
Chad: Well, I got to do something.
Rafe: Okay. I understand that. Why don't you just try and calm down and I'll see if I can find out some information for you. All right?
Chad: How long is that gonna take?
Rafe: Well, I don't know, but the minute I find out, I promise I will get in contact with you.
Chad: They're the most important thing that have ever happened to me.
Rafe: I understand that. So go be with them. Let me deal with Ben.
Abigail: He doesn't want to eat and he doesn't need to be changed, so I don't know what's wrong, Thomas. Shh, shh, shh. Are you sick? Should I call a pediatrician? Maybe I should call a doctor?
Ciara: Hey, Abigail. When, um... when I asked my mom about taking care of a baby, she said that babies are like sponges and they soak up all the feelings of their loved ones.
Abigail: You think he's crying because of me?
Ciara: No, I'm just saying that maybe he can tell that you're upset? And it might be scaring him. Why don't you let me take him?
Ciara: Trying to calm him down would be really good practice for me.
[Baby stops crying]
Ciara: Hey, Thomas. [Chuckles] Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra-li too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral hush now, don't you cry
Abigail: How do you know that song?
Ciara: My daddy used to sing it to me.
Abigail: My nanny, Bridget, used to sing it to me.
Wow. You're really good with him.
Abigail: Why couldn't I do that?
Ciara: I've seen you do it. You're just not in great shape right now. And, I mean, why would you be? You must have been scared out of your mind when Ben got in here.
Ben: You're too good to kill me.
Ben: [Panting] [Screams]
Abigail: [Panting] [Retches]
Summer: Theresa's gonna be mad at you if you don't get back to her.
Brady: Well, I want to know that you're gonna be okay.
Summer: I had a couple of drinks to take the edge off.
Brady: That's what I'm talking about. What caused the edge? What are you talking about?
Summer: Being in this town. It's not exactly a warm bath.
Brady: I know--I mean, Maggie's been in the hospital, and I understand my grandfather wasn't very nice to you the other day, was he?
Summer: Look, I'm sorry he had a heart attack, but he can be pretty mean, you know?
Brady: Do I know? Of course I know. He can be mean. And the fact the he's scared and worried about Maggie, it doesn't make it any better.
Summer: Look, I'll be okay, okay? Don't worry about me.
Brady: I do worry about you, Summer, that's the point. Because I... I'm the one that brought you here, I'm responsible for it. And I feel like I've just put you in the middle of a bunch of bad treatment, and... I'm sorry, and I'm not going to abandon you.
Summer: Yeah, well. It's not like it hasn't happened before.
Brady: What do you mean?
Summer: You know what? As far as I'm concerned, you have nothing to feel guilty about. Except for Daniel, I can't think of anybody else who's been as nice to me as you have.
Brady: I'm just really hoping that you and Maggie can find a way to have a relationship that's good. For both of you.
Summer: Yeah. Wouldn't that be nice?
Brady: Well, whatever happens, Summer, I want you to know that... you can count on me. You believe that?
Summer: Yeah, I believe it. Now go back to Theresa.
Brady: Do you need money for a cab?
Summer: No! No.
Brady: Okay, okay. Get home safe.
[Soft piano music]
Hope: Aw, Gran. I'd give anything to talk to you right now.
You'd say exactly the right thing, and then I would know what to do.
Rafe's a good man. And he thinks he's in love with me.
But what if I'm just not ready to open my heart to someone new?
Rafe: I'm sick of playing it safe.
Chad: Stay. How are you?
Chad: Where's, um... where's Abby?
Ciara: Uh, she's in the bathroom throwing up.
Chad: What, she's sick?
Ciara: Um, she woke up because the baby was crying. She--I could see that she was in pretty bad shape. She woke up and she thought that I was Ben. And she thought I was trying to take the baby.
Chad: Um... she, uh--she's had a really horrible day. She must have just come down with something. I apologize.
Ciara: Yeah, I don't think that's what it is. Um, Abigail told me that you know what chase did to me.
Chad: I'm, uh, I'm so sorry.
Ciara: Yeah, I'm not trying to find sympathy, I just... I think I get Abigail. It sucks to feel like a victim. You try to push it out of your head, but one idea just keeps coming back... that if you would have been stronger or smarter or fought back harder--
Chad: You both did everything that you could.
Ciara: Yeah. Well, we didn't do enough. Because it still happened. And sometimes I still blame myself, even though I know it's not rational. But I think Abigail's blaming herself for the same reason, because she didn't do enough to stop Ben. She didn't know who he really was. At least... not soon enough, anyway.
Chad: I'm really glad that you're here tonight.
Ciara: Yeah, me too. I'm really sorry for what Abby's going through.
Chad: Thank you.
Look, I, uh--I know you're not supposed to work tomorrow, but do you think it's possible if you, uh, can come by after school?
Ciara: Sure. No problem.
Chad: Hey. Hi.
Brady: So how was your lamb? Did you like it?
Theresa: Oh, so delicious. Hey, do you want to get a dessert menu? I mean, I know I don't normally indulge, but they have this amazing dessert called chocolate decadence, and, um... you want to call the inn? See if Summer got there all right?
Brady: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, baby, I just, um... there's something wrong with her, and I don't know what it is.
Theresa: Look, Brady, it's fine. It's just that this is our night out, and I--
Brady: I know.
Theresa: I just really don't want to spend it talking about Summer the whole night.
Brady: I understand.
Theresa: I mean, she's a grown woman, okay? She has to learn how to deal with her own problems.
Brady: You know what? You're right, you are right. I just can't help but think it was a huge mistake for me to bring her here to Salem. I mean, I didn't think this out, Theresa. I didn't prepare Maggie for it. I didn't think about how my grandfather was gonna take the news. She's a fragile woman, and I threw her into a meat grinder, is what I did.
Theresa: I think that's a little over the top.
Brady: [Sighs] I just--I got it in my head that I could--I could save Summer and I could help Maggie get over the loss of Daniel in one fell swoop, and I don't-- what was I thinking, right?
Theresa: Well, you were just trying to do what Daniel would have done.
Brady: I looked at her tonight, Theresa, and she is no better off than she was when we found her in the middle of the ocean.
Theresa: [Laughs] Okay, Brady, look. Summer and Maggie and Victor, they're gonna have to work it out. And I know you want to fix everything, but this is out of your hands. Summer has to do this herself.
Summer: [Sighs] [Laughs]
Chad: Look, I'm sorry it took me so long to get back here.
Abigail: How are you? Where'd you go?
Chad: I just had some stuff to take care of, okay? I'm here.
Ciara: Hey, uh, Thomas is quiet now. Should I take him up to his crib?
Abigail: Oh, no, no, no. I'll take my son, thank you.
Abigail: Hi. Yeah, thanks. You probably have school tomorrow. It's late anyway, so you--
Abigail: Go ahead, I got him. And I'm sorry if I scared you when I woke up.
Ciara: Um, should I--should I take him?
Abigail: No, really. Got it, thanks.
Chad: Yeah, no, you know what? It's, um... you can go home, it's okay.
Ciara: All right. See you guys tomorrow.
Abigail: Hey, Thomas.
Chad: Hey, um, you want me to take him?
Abigail: No, I can do it. It's fine. I can do it. He's my son, I know what I'm doing. I can take care of my own son. I have to. I have to do this. I know I can. I need to do this. It's okay, Thomas. Hey. Hey, Thomas, Mommy's okay. It's all right.
Theresa: I just think you're under enough stress without worrying about Summer's mood tonight.
Brady: You know what? You're right.
Theresa: What? What?
Brady: Yeah, yeah, I said you're right.
Brady: I also notice that there's nobody dancing in this entire place. What do you say?
Theresa: Uh, well, you know, I do happen to have one spot available on my dance card.
Brady: Oh, lucky me.
Brady: Come on.
Theresa: Oh, you know, I forgot to tell you that I didn't just work today.
Theresa: I actually found a calligrapher who is going to address our wedding invitations.
Brady: Wait, a calligrapher?
Theresa: I know, I know, I know. But I just want everything to be perfect, you know? I want our wedding to be this amazing party where everybody just dances their asses off.
Brady: Oh. All for it.
Theresa: Yeah? Gosh. I... I cannot believe how my life turned out. You know, a year ago, it never even entered my mind that I could be this happy.
Brady: You know what I think?
Brady: I think Tate is the best mistake we've ever made.
Theresa: Wha--he is not a mistake, mister. No, he's an accident.
Brady: [Laughs] There's a difference?
Theresa: Yes, there's a difference, okay? A mistake is something that you did wrong and an accident is--it's more like something you didn't plan. I knew, the first time I ever looked at him, I knew that he was the best thing I have ever done.
Brady: Me, too.
Theresa: And here we are. And I promise you, I am never, ever going to take what we have for granted.
Brady: Well, there's no one else in the world that I would rather be with right now. And I mean that with all my heart.
Abigail: Okay, shh. Hey, are you hungry? Yeah, is that it? Did you--must've cried yourself--you're hungry again. Thomas, what? Come on. Hey.
Chad: Abby, please just--will you just let me take him? Honey--
Abigail: What? No, I can do this! You think I'm not fit to take care of my own son?
Abigail: It's okay, it's Mommy.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: Hey, Rafe.
Rafe: Well, good, you picked up. I was afraid you wouldn't.
Hope: Uh, why would you think I'd do something like that?
Rafe: Well, I thought after what I said tonight, I might have scared you away.
Hope: What you said was... sweet and romantic.
Rafe: Well, I meant every word.
Hope: It was really, um, sweet of you to call, but Ciara just got home from babysitting at the DiMeras'.
Rafe: Yeah, I spoke with Chad tonight. Must've been tough for Abigail after what she went through.
Hope: Yeah, it was. Uh, you know, Ciara went up to bed, but I want to go check on her.
Rafe: Yeah, you go with her.
Hope: Rafe? We'll talk. Tomorrow. Okay?
Rafe: Yeah, sure. Sure we will. Good night.
[Cell phone beeps]
Theresa: I had such a good time tonight. We should have a date night every single--
Brady: Every single night. What happened? What's wrong? What happened?
Summer: I--I didn't even know, I just--I couldn't stay in my room anymore, and I didn't know where to go.
Brady: Okay, okay, okay. Listen, um... you can stay with us.
Abigail: Come on, honey, it's okay.
Abigail: No, it's--Thomas.
Chad: Okay, Abby, Abby. Please, Abby, it's my turn.
Chad: Let me try. Give him to me. Please. It's okay. It's okay.
[Baby stops crying]
Chad: That's better. You want to get some fresh-- you want to get some fresh air, huh? That's it. That's better.
Chad: Abby. Abby!
