Eduardo: Adriana. Still... taking your evening paseo after all these years?
Adriana: I couldn't sleep. Why are you still here?
Eduardo: I... I have some unfinished business. With you.
Adriana: No, you do not.
Eduardo: I know you've heard a lot about what I did after--
Adriana: After you left?
Eduardo: You still don't know the whole story. And I'd like you to hear it from me if you're willing to listen.
Hope: Hey, Caroline.
Caroline: Oh, my hope.
Hope: Hi. Muah!
Caroline: Oh, it's so good to see you.
Hope: You too.
Caroline: Good to see you.
Hope: I don't want to interrupt if you're praying.
Caroline: Oh, no, no. No, Eric left this. Well, he returned it. I gave it to him as a gift for good-bye.
Hope: Well, that was sweet.
Caroline: But he-- he didn't want it. I hope he doesn't lose his faith. I mean, that's all he has left.
Hope: No, that's not all. He has his family-- our love and support. Hey, someday, he'll be ready to accept it.
Caroline: Yeah. I hope so, I hope so.
Hope: In the good news department...
Hope: Yes, I just came from seeing Victor, and he's stable.
Caroline: Oh, thank-- oh, that's very good.
Hope: Yes, thank God. And Maggie's out of surgery, and that, thank God, went really well. Of course, it's too soon to tell how much function she'll actually recover, but it did go well.
Caroline: Victor's brother is responsible for that.
Hope: Why do you say that?
Caroline: Deimos is pure evil. I know that he's responsible for what happened to Maggie. And I know you don't--you don't put any stock in my visions and premonitions, and--
Hope: No, no, no, Caroline, I would never discount anything you ever say again. If you hadn't told Steve where to find Bo, we might not have gotten him back at all.
Caroline: You two believe that Stefano was the cause of Bo's torture, and I think it was Deimos. And you can't believe Deimos could do that. No matter what I tell you--
Hope: Caroline, I'm not sure of anything anymore.
Caroline: What makes you say that?
What do you want to do with all this?
Deimos: Oh... throw it in the dump. You know what, on second thought, why don't you put it in storage? My brother deserves to see his ugly statuary on "antiques roadshow" someday.
Nicole: You don't waste time settling in, do you?
Deimos: I never do.
Nicole: No medical emergencies or naked conquests this time?
Deimos: Not that I know of, no. What are you doing here?
Nicole: I came to see you.
Deimos: Decided to take me up on my offer for a cup of coffee? Why don't you join me for a toast instead?
Nicole: What are we toasting to?
Deimos: Getting what we want, and what we deserve.
Eduardo: You look lovely, by the way. Please.
Adriana: I'll listen, Eduardo, only because I believe in common courtesy-- something I have to work hard to teach our children after you showed them just the opposite.
Eduardo: You'll never know how sorry I am.
Adriana: Oh, please, I don't want to hear "sorry." There was a time when I hoped every day, every day, that you would call. And eventually I hoped you never would. All I wanted was to forget.
Eduardo: Yeah, I don't blame you.
Adriana: If I have to sit here and let you say your piece, you're going to answer the question that used to keep me awake at night... that still does tonight.
Eduardo: All right, I'll do my best.
Adriana: How did things go so wrong for us, Eduardo? I know, you're gonna tell me you didn't have a choice. But we both know there is always a choice. I used to nag at you to learn a trade. Couldn't you have been a plumber? Or a welder? Anything but... what you chose.
Eduardo: I chose to be an assassin--you can say it. I didn't choose it. I was a boy when it started, and I tried to break free of it. I tried.
Adriana: That's not the point. How could you let me fall in love with you in the first place, de los pies a la cabeza? How?
Caroline: Hope, you're white as a sheet. What did I--is it something I said?
Hope: It's not you.
Caroline: What is it?
Hope: Caroline, I'm gonna tell you something, because you are Bo's mother, because you deserve to know the truth.
Hope: But it can't leave this room.
Caroline: Hand to God.
Hope: I did a really terrible thing.
Caroline: Oh, whatever terrible thing, God forgives.
Hope: Not if you're not sorry. I'm not sorry for what I did. André didn't kill Stefano. I did. I was so sure he was responsible for taking Bo away from me, and I wanted him to pay.
Caroline: Good for you. You did the world a service. Stefano was no innocent. The court would've given him a death sentence. My only regret is that I didn't shoot the son of a bitch myself.
Eduardo: I know that I broke your heart. But we sure did make some beautiful children together.
Adriana: My children... they are the only thing I don't regret.
Eduardo: They meant everything to me. And so did you. I believed everything I said to you. And I decided that no matter what it took, I was gonna find my way out of the alliance. I was gonna get the blood off my hands. It's all I ever wanted to do.
Eduardo: And I failed. So much time had passed, I let myself think that I had gotten away. They left us alone for such a long time, and we made this life together. We made a good life together.
Adriana: But it wasn't real.
Eduardo: Yes, it was. Until the day I left, it was good. It was a good life. There's no doubt in my mind: Had they left us alone, you and I would be together to this day.
Caroline: Did you think I'd be upset with you?
Hope: I murdered a man, Caroline.
Caroline: He wasn't a man. He was a devil. He tried to destroy our whole family. He took Bo away from us forever.
Hope: I'm not sure that's true anymore.
Caroline: What do you mean?
Hope: I got a phone call from someone. He disguised his voice, so I don't know who it was. But he said I killed the wrong man. What if it were Deimos who took Bo away from us?
Caroline: Do you have proof?
Hope: If there is, I don't have it. But I thought you should know the truth. You deserve to know the truth.
Caroline: Well, I already knew it, you know. I tried to tell Victor I saw Deimos with Dr. Malcolm, and he dismissed it. He pointed out that my visions hadn't all come true, you know. That was before he had a heart attack. So I am more convinced than ever.
Hope: I don't know. I don't know what to think.
Caroline: Don't be upset. Stefano got exactly what he deserved.
Hope: But what if it was Deimos?
Caroline: If Deimos is responsible for Bo's death, then we will see that he has to pay for it.
Nicole: I can't toast. I haven't gotten what I want yet.
Deimos: And what do you want?
Deimos: Is there a hidden camera somewhere?
Nicole: [Laughs] I'm not a reporter anymore. This is personal.
Nicole: Mr. Kiriakis, I don't know you very well--
Deimos: Okay, first, that's my brother's name. Deimos, please.
Nicole: All right. Deimos. I just want to establish-- and this is for my own piece of mind-- I know you did 30 years in Greece for-- for murder. And I'm thinking maybe you got a teensy weensy upset when I called 911 and saved Victor's life.
Deimos: Do I seem upset?
Nicole: I just want you to know--I mean, the truth is, I tried to kill him once myself.
Deimos: Yes, I heard that. And I knew I liked you. But why did you lift a finger to help him now?
Nicole: Because I'm trying to be a better person.
Deimos: Good for you.
Nicole: I get the impression that doesn't apply to you. I've done my research, and I've seen pictures of Helena Tasso. Should I be worried?
Deimos: That I might try to kill you too? Because you look so much like her?
Nicole: Answering a question with a question isn't putting my mind at ease.
Deimos: All right. How about this? I'm an innocent man.
Nicole: I doubt that.
Deimos: All right, let me rephrase. I did not kill her. That was all Victor.
Nicole: So you did the time for his crime, and now it's his turn to pay.
Nicole: I-- in all the years that I've known Victor, not once did he mention that I had a dead doppelganger.
Deimos: And yet, I am absolutely certain that's exactly why he married you.
Nicole: Deimos, when you look at me like that, it... it makes me uncomfortable.
Deimos: I'm sorry. It's just... your resemblance, it's-- it's uncanny.
Nicole: Is that why you wanted to have coffee with me? Because I look like her?
Deimos: No. I live in the here and now. And I've done my research too. You've lived a very interesting life, Nicole walker.
Nicole: Euphemistically speaking. So have you. And I can't even begin to imagine how you wrested Victor's mansion away from him.
Deimos: That was a long story.
Nicole: Well, I-- I've got time. And while we're at it, I'd love to hear what brought you to Salem... and what else you want. Then we wad it up to make it nice and soft.
Eduardo: I really thought-- after all those years-- I thought I was free.
Eduardo: But I was wrong. They still had work for me to do. They found me and made me do it.
Adriana: Why didn't you confide in me? We would have found the money together.
Eduardo: It wasn't about money. They said they'd kill you and the kids. The only way to keep you safe was to leave.
Adriana: I don't believe that.
Eduardo: You don't be-- you saw. You saw what they're capable of. How could I take that chance with the most--the most precious people in my life? The first thing I had to do was destroy my family photos, but I never forgot what they look like. My beautiful bride, standing in front of Santa Cecilia on our wedding day. Rafael in his soccer uniform-- so proud, little trophy. That's the year I coached the team. You used to complain about the grass stains on his jersey. You remember that?
Adriana: I remember. Arianna, Dario, jumping in a pile of leaves that I had just raked, and-- and Gabi... you caught her first smile on film. I had to sear those images in my memory, because I knew I would never see them again.
Adriana: Why did you have to destroy the photos?
Eduardo: They had to believe you meant nothing to me, or walking away wouldn't have kept you safe.
Adriana: You couldn't have explained any of this to me?
Eduardo: If they found out that you knew... Ana, please, I need you to understand.
Adriana: You--you walked away because you loved me?
Eduardo: Yes, I did. And not a day has gone by where I haven't thought about you. I'll regret not having been here for the rest of my life. Maybe it's not possible to make amends. But I would do anything for you. Anything for you and the children--I would give anything to have my family back.
Roman: What the hell?
Hope: Hey, guys.
Rafe: Hey, what's going on?
Roman: Is ma okay?
Hope: Yeah, she's fine. Come on in.
Roman: Hey, ma.
Roman: Hey. You closed?
Caroline: We--it was very slow, so we just decided to have a heart-to-heart.
Hope: Caroline, it's all right. They already know.
Hope: I told your mom the truth. That I killed Stefano.
Rafe: Now why would you tell her that?
Caroline: Tell the crazy old lady this? Well, I--
Rafe: No, no. It doesn't matter--
Rafe: No, it's not that. It's just that...
Caroline: Oh, I'll probably forget it anyway.
Roman: Hey, ma, ma, stop. Look, look, we know we can trust you.
Rafe: So, how did this happen to come up in conversation?
Hope: Because we were talking about Deimos.
Hope: And how he caused Victor's heart attack. And how maybe-- maybe I killed the wrong man.
Caroline: Well, we know Stefano was no good, and now we have Deimos. So we have to find a way to stop him, right?
Deimos: What else do I want? Hmm. I spent 30 years in a five-by-nine cell because my brother let me take the fall for his crime. I came to Salem to settle a score.
Nicole: Mission accomplished?
Deimos: Mm-hmm. Now... I just want to live. I'm not gonna let any opportunity pass me by.
Nicole: Well, you better live it up now, because I think you have about two weeks before Victor comes calling.
Deimos: [Chuckles] That old man doesn't have any fight left in him.
Nicole: You don't know him as well as I do.
Deimos: I'm sure you're right about that. So, let me ask you something. Why do you care? I mean, surely, you're not still carrying a torch for this man. Never were, from what I gather.
Nicole: You're right. I married the man for money. It wasn't worth it. But his wife, Maggie, she loves him. And I love her.
Deimos: Okay. Why?
Nicole: Because I was engaged to her son, Daniel. And he died in a car accident on new year's eve.
Deimos: I'm very sorry.
Nicole: And after what Maggie just went through--now she might not be able to walk. You should know, Deimos, if you are a threat to her in any way, I am a threat to you.
Deimos: Nicole... may I call you Nicole? Please know that I hold no ill will towards Maggie, whatsoever. She was an innocent victim, and I pray for her speedy recovery.
Nicole: You don't seem like the praying type.
Deimos: My point is that my conflict with my brother is settled. I've won. So I assure you there's nothing for you to worry about.
Nicole: Why am I not sure I believe you?
Deimos: That would be because you've only heard one side of the story. Why don't you let me tell you my side over dinner tonight? From what I understand, my new chef makes a killer soufflé.
Roman: Okay, ma, what do you want me to do about Deimos?
Caroline: Well, obviously, he kidnapped Bo. He tortured him, and he kept medical treatment away from him.
Roman: Yeah, well, listen, you could very well be right, but we need proof.
Rafe: Well, it's gonna take some time to do this right. The guy's savvy.
Caroline: He certainly is. He swindled Victor and Maggie out of everything, and he almost killed both of them.
Hope: Wait a minute, wait a minute. I thought Maggie's fall was an accident.
Caroline: Are you sure about that?
Roman: But Victor never implicated Deimos. Surely he would've done that.
Caroline: Well, with a man like Deimos, I don't believe in accidents. I mean, he-- Stefano's gone, but Deimos is here, and we have to find a way to get rid of him.
Adriana: How I wish I could believe you. How I wish I could forgive. You have made the pain so fresh again.
Eduardo: I know, I know--
Dario: What the hell did you do to her this time?
Hope: I hope you're not mad at me.
Rafe: Of course not.
Hope: I thought Caroline deserved to know the truth.
Rafe: You don't owe me an explanation.
Hope: Yes, I do. Rafe, you have done so much for me. You put your career on the line, and an awful lot more. I know you're worried that Caroline might slip up and say something.
Rafe: So you think Caroline's mind's as sharp as ever?
Hope: Well, sharper than mine right now. Feel like I'm careening from one nightmare to the next.
Rafe: Hope, I wish that there was something I could do.
Hope: You've done a lot for me. Plenty. I'd be in jail without you. Actually, I think I'd probably be insane. And here I am again, leaning on you.
Rafe: Well, lean away, 'cause I'm not going anywhere. How's Ciara?
Hope: Oh. That's her. Oh, yeah. She's on her way to the DiMera mansion right now to watch Thomas. She's working for Abigail and Chad part-time.
Rafe: That's great.
Hope: Yeah. It is great. I just really hope staying busy helps keep her...you know-- her mind off everything else.
Rafe: Good thing she wasn't there earlier.
Hope: My God, thank God. I can't believe that Ben actually made it into the house past the DiMera guards.
Rafe: He's not gonna be going anywhere for a long time.
Hope: You want to go over and see what's going on?
Rafe: No, I don't, 'cause every time I play peacekeeper, Dario just creates another argument. They need to work it out by themselves.
Hope: I really hope things work out for your family.
Rafe: Me too.
Dario: Haven't you made her cry enough? Get out of here.
Eduardo: Maybe you could take a moment, let your mother say what she wants
Dario: She's already said it a hundred times. She doesn't want you. She doesn't need you. And neither do we. Now, are you gonna get out of here, or do I have to make you?
Adriana: Dario! Déjalo. Déjalo, hijo.
Dario: Mami, how can I let him go when he doesn't give us any peace? Tell me you're not letting him get to you. You're not gonna let him back into our lives, are you?
Nicole: Maybe next time. I'm busy tonight.
Deimos: Okay. Here, why don't you take my card?
Nicole: What's it gonna say? "Deimos Kiriakis, menace to society"? CEO of Titan industries?
Nicole: You do work fast.
Deimos: This has been 30 years in the making. As you can infer, I'm a man of infinite patience. Therefore, I'll be awaiting a call.
Nicole: Do I really look like her?
Deimos: I would swear the two of you were twins.
Nicole: Well, obviously, we're not related. I mean, my last name, it's Mendez, and my family tree--well, it's-- it's pretty messed up.
Deimos: Well, then, we have something in common.
Nicole: Am I like her in any other way?
Deimos: She was... one of a kind. And so are you. I can see that already. So I guess time will tell.
Adriana: Maybe-- maybe we have all lived with this pain for too long.
Dario: You can't forgive him.
Adriana: Hijo, every night, we used to say our prayers together. Perdona nuestras ofensas, como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden. None of us is free of sin. Are we, Dario? And I will continue to pray.
Eduardo: That's all I can ask.
Adriana: Mijo, walk me home, please.
Eduardo: Adriana, could we... continue this conversation tomorrow, over breakfast?
Dario: What? No.
Adriana: Sí. Mañana por la mañana.
Eduardo: I'll be in touch.
[Light instrumental music]
Hope: Rafe, I got to be honest. If I did kill the wrong man, a part of me really doesn't want to know.
Rafe: I understand.
Hope: On the other hand, what if Deimos was behind what happened to Bo? How can I let that go?
Rafe: You can't.
Hope: I can't. But what if I put all of this time and energy into finding out the truth, and it turns out that Deimos had nothing to do with what happened to Bo?
Kate: Look who's back.
Nicole: Yeah, I'm having déjà vu, myself, only this time, you're dressed, and there isn't a half-dead man sprawled out on the couch.
Kate: What are you doing here, Nicole?
Nicole: You living here now, Kate? Come and go as you please?
Kate: Actually, Henderson let me in.
Nicole: Avoiding the question, are we?
Kate: Oh, I don't think that's any of your concern.
Nicole: You're right. It's not.
Deimos: I'll have Henderson show you out.
Kate: You never answered my question either, Nicole.
Nicole: Right. I'm here to deliver a warning to your charming loverboy here.
Deimos: Charmed, I'm sure.
Kate: Let me guess. You and Theresa are going to bury his company with your new line of retro parachute pants.
Nicole: No, I said I would bury him if he goes near Victor or Maggie again.
Deimos: And as I assured the lovely Nicole, I have no intention of doing that.
Kate: I think it's time for "the lovely Nicole" to leave.
Nicole: I hope you know you can do better.
Kate: So, what's really going on with you and Nicole? And don't insult my intelligence by telling me it's nothing. You should know that any friend of Nicole walker's is an enemy of mine.
Deimos: What is going on between you two?
Kate: Where would I ever begin? I don't know what your interest is in her, but believe me, I have no interest in playing any games with men.
Deimos: You've already made that very clear.
Kate: So, if you're one of those Greeks who like to have their baklava and eat it, too, then I'm done. What?
Deimos: You're irresistible when you're feisty, which is to say you're always irresistible. Nicole who?
Kate: So, you think you can kiss me and you expect me to...
Deimos: Of course I do. I want to make love to you in every single room of my new home.
Dario: What am I, invisible now?
Nicole: Dario. I'm sorry. I didn't see you.
Nicole: I've just had a-- a lot on my mind. That's all.
Dario: Me too. That is, until I saw you. Let me buy you a drink, get you mind off your troubles. I owe you one.
Nicole: Wow, you're the second man tonight to offer me that, so... [Laughs]
Dario: Well, I'm guessing you told the first guy no. You were waiting for me. Smart move.
Nicole: Well, I'm not known to turn down a cocktail, but I have an early conference call with some buyers for my company, and the only date I have tonight is with my pillow.
Dario: Mm. Lucky pillow. Rain check, then?
Nicole: Dario, I don't think I'm ready...
Dario: Hey, hey, hey, I'm not asking for your hand in marriage, here. It's just one drink. It's a martini, right? Dirty, straight up?
Nicole: Good memory.
Dario: So, what do you say?
Dario: We all know "maybe" means "yes."
Nicole: Maybe. Night, Dario.
Dario: Hasta la próxima.
Rafe: Well, I've got Goldstein looking into Maggie Kiriakis's accident. But I could take over the case, and then I can snoop around, look into Deimos' extracurricular activities.
Hope: Rafe, that is really sweet, okay, but you have so many cases already. You start asking about the serum, someone's gonna say, "he's not objective."
Rafe: I'm not. But don't worry. I'll just do it under the radar, and then you won't have to worry.
Hope: I am worried. If Caroline's right, Deimos is dangerous.
Rafe: You know what you should worry about? The phone call you received. Somehow, it seems they've figured out what we've done, and we need to find out who that is.
Hope: I know. Thanks for saying "we." This really isn't your-- your problem.
Rafe: Of course it is. We are in this together.
Hope: I couldn't ask for a better friend. You make me feel safe.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, I should go.
Hope: Good night.
Rafe: No, I shouldn't.
Rafe: I'm sick of playing it safe.
