Roman: All right. This is Casey Simmons. You're gonna be in cell block D-7, Casey is the senior supervisor of guards there. Now D-7 is the calmest block is Statesville, non-violent inmates, low-level felons.
Eric: Man, how do you know all this?
Roman: The warden at Statesville owes me.
Eric: No, no, no. You do not use your favors for me.
Roman: Hey, this is nothing compared to... Eric, listen very closely to me, okay? Listen closely. There is no way I'm going to let my son go to prison without doing every damn thing I can to make it easier.
Eric: I don't deserve it.
Roman: Eric, I'm gonna do this.
Eric: Thank you.
Lucas: Now, you know I love you, right?
Jennifer: [Chuckles] You are being so silly tonight. Yes, I know that.
Lucas: I'm being silly? Really? 'Cause I just wanted you to get home in one piece? I mean, you do remember what happened tonight, right? Your son-in-law was really upset. He was worried about you.
Jennifer: I know. So silly too.
Lucas: You were slurring your words and you almost fell in the square.
Jennifer: Yes, I told you I didn't eat.
Lucas: Jennifer, it has nothing to do with that.
Jennifer: And it's really not a big deal, I was dehydrated...
Lucas: It's a very big deal.
Jennifer: And I needed a little water.
Lucas: It has nothing to do with you being dehydrated or not. This is not the first time. You have a problem. You have a problem with the pills.
Jennifer: No, Lucas. I have a hurt back.
Lucas: You have a problem with the pills. This is junkie behavior. Jennifer, I know. I'm an addict. I-I know what it looks like.
Jennifer: You know what? I need to rest. Because I did a little too much today, and I hurt my back. So yes, I took one pill, okay?
Lucas: Did you take what the doctor prescribed for you? How many did you take?
Jennifer: Fynn knows what I need for my pain. He wanted me to have surgery, and I-I couldn't do it.
Lucas: Why not?
Jennifer: Because I don't have the time to recover from that. And then if it didn't work, I would be right where I am right now.
Lucas: Yeah, with the pills.
Jennifer: Right. But I can manage it because I just take one when I need to take the edge off. That's it.
Lucas: You know, any night-- any night of the week I can take you to a room full of addicts who say the exact same thing. You need to face this.
Jennifer: You find--
Lucas: You have a problem with it, Jennifer.
JJ: Mom, Abigail's... am I interrupting?
Jennifer: No, you're not. Lucas was just leaving.
Abigail: Hi. Guess what? Thomas is cutting another tooth. [Gasps] Yes, you are.
Chad: Yeah? Seems pretty quiet.
Abigail: Well, he is right now. But if it starts to hurt him, he will let us know. Won't you? Won't you?
Chad: Hey, why don't we, uh, pack up Thomas' stuff and go get a hotel room for the night?
Abigail: What? No way.
Chad: Um, you shouldn't have to go back up those stairs.
Abigail: Chad, I can climb stairs.
Chad: I just don't want you to have to deal with what's up there, okay? Not tonight.
Abigail: Why? What's upstairs? What's upstairs, Dad? What's upstairs?
Roman: Okay. Now if you're ever in trouble, you're ever threatened, I'm your first call. If I don't pick up immediately, this is your second call. Memorize that number.
Eric: Who is it?
Roman: Danny. He works there. He'll send people to help you. Tell him you're Eric Brady. He'll know what to do.
Eric: What happens to somebody who doesn't have a police commissioner for a father when they're in prison?
Roman: Well, Eric, the fact is because you're my son, that's why you could have a target on your back, so the least I can do is give you backup. Now, what are you planning to do the rest of the night?
Eric: Nothing much.
Roman: It's your last night of freedom.
Eric: Yeah, well, don't worry. I'm not gonna go nuts.
Roman: Okay, I would understand the temptation.
Eric: [Scoffs] Dad, I haven't had a drink in three days.
Roman: That's good.
Eric: That's the least I could do, you know, going sober before my sentencing.
Roman: Good for you. How does it feel?
Eric: It's been hard. I know it's nothing compared to where I'm going. Even with all this help.
Roman: [Exhales sharply] I'd like to say that isn't true. But unfortunately, yes, this is gonna be the hardest thing you'll ever do.
JJ: Are you sure?
Lucas: No, we'll talk about this some other time. Uh, no, it's fine. Um, what's going on with Abigail? Is she okay?
JJ: Ben showed up at the house.
Jennifer: Oh, dear God. What?
Lucas: He got in the DiMera mansion?
JJ: Yes. He got inside and he tried to grab her.
Jennifer: That is crazy. How did that happen?
JJ: We don't know. We know that he knocked out one of the guards. He got inside and tried to attack her.
Lucas: Is she okay?
JJ: She's safe. Ben's in the hospital under arrest.
Lucas: Why the hell isn't he in jail?
JJ: He's injured. He went to go attack her, and she fought back. Got a little crazy.
Chad: I was barely able to clean the room in time before the cops got here, and I'm sure it still smells terrible.
Abigail: Why? What do you mean the cops? Why would our bedroom smell terrible?
Chad: Um, honey?
Chad: How are you feeling?
Abigail: I feel good. I feel really good. Thomas is getting another tooth. [Gasps] Right there.
Chad: You said that.
Abigail: Oh. I think you should hold Thomas because--
Chad: No, no, no, no.
Abigail: Hey, trust me. It'll calm you down.
Chad: I'm not the one that needs calming. I don't need calming.
Abigail: Okay. Thought you were upset.
Chad: I-I'm not. I'm not, I'm not. And you shouldn't be either.
Chad: The cops took Ben. He's never going to hurt you again.
Abigail: Where did the cops find Ben?
Abigail: They found him here? He was here in this house?
Roman: Look, I wouldn't be doing you favors if I sugarcoated this. Prison is hell. They say it's supposed to be.
Eric: Yeah, well, so much for rehabilitation. Redemption.
Roman: Hey, there's a chance for that. But, Eric, you did a smart thing. You get the booze out of your system before you went in. It's gonna make it easier. And they do have meetings in there.
Eric: Yeah, I heard.
Roman: Okay, now listen. Use your faith. Use your smarts. And use those phone numbers whenever you need them.
Roman: Yeah, Brady. Tonight? Okay. All right, I'll be there in ten minutes, yeah. Work.
Eric: Yeah, it's okay. You know, why don't you go?
Roman: [Exhales sharply] Where are you going now?
Eric: I don't know.
Roman: When are you going to see your mom?
Eric: For what?
Roman: Eric, I'm going to ask you one thing. Please, go see Marlena. Why would you not?
Eric: Dad, I-- I don't want her to see me like this.
Roman: Like how?
Eric: Scared. I'm scared, dad.
Roman: Hey. Of course you are. That's natural for you. It's natural. But we're here for you, your mom and I, your Grandma, everyone. We're going to be praying for you. We're going to be sending good thoughts to you. You listen to me, okay? Eric, you are a great guy. Now you just have to be a tough guy, too.
Eric: Don't worry.
Eric: Thank you.
Roman: All right.
Eric: For everything.
Roman: I love you so much. Okay?
Eric: I love you, too.
Roman: I'll see you tomorrow.
Roman: Okay. See you tomorrow.
Jennifer: You need to tell me exactly what happened.
JJ: I don't know exactly. The details are a little fuzzy, but what we do know is that Ben got inside, he tried to attack her, and Abigail fought back. And he's--he's burned.
Jennifer: Burned? How--how did that happen?
JJ: See, that's the part that's a little fuzzy, but what you have to know is that abs is okay.
Jennifer: Where is your sister right now? Where is she?
JJ: She's still at the house, she's still at the house.
Lucas: I'll drive, I'll drive.
Jennifer: No, I'm fine. JJ and I are going to handle this.
Lucas: Are you sure?
JJ: Deveraux. Yeah, I gave my notes to Lani for the report.
Lucas: We're through for now, but we're not done.
Jennifer: Yes, we are. Can you drive? I'll call the house. Is Abigail still there?
JJ: She should be.
Jennifer: Okay. JJ, why are you--what aren't you telling me?
JJ: Mom... this thing that happened, it's Abigail's nightmare.
Jennifer: Yes, of course it is.
JJ: It looks like... Chad thinks that it might have pushed her over the edge.
Jennifer: We need to go.
Chad: What do you-- what do you remember... from tonight?
Abigail: I remember... something happened. I had a bad dream.
Chad: Tell me about your dream.
Abigail: It was a bad dream. I have these images. Kind of jumbled, but... is it important?
Chad: No, no.
Abigail: Why do you want to know about my dream?
Chad: I don't.
Abigail: Why'd you ask me about it?
Chad: I don't, I don't. It's just, um, the on--the only thing that you need to think about is you're safe. And Thomas is safe.
Abigail: You said Ben was here though. You said.
Chad: Oh, Ben's gone.
Abigail: No, you said he was here.
Chad: Ben's gone. He's locked up.
Abigail: No, you said he was here.
Chad: He's locked up. It's--he's never going to hurt you again. Can I--
Abigail: Did I see him?
Chad: Can I hold Thomas?
Abigail: Did I see Ben?
Chad: Can I hold Thomas?
Abigail: I asked you a question, did I see him?
Chad: Shh, no. Come on. I've been waiting all night. Ah, it's my big boy. There's my big boy. You know what? Why don't we pack a bag, the three of us go get a hotel room...
Abigail: No, I'm not leaving, Chad.
Chad: Maybe we can get some room service.
Abigail: No, I'm not leaving. No. No, I don't want to leave.
Abigail: I'm not leaving.
Chad: Okay, we're going to stay right here. Want to stay here?
Abigail: I want to stay... right here on this couch all night with Thomas and with you. And I'm not leaving.
Chad: Sure. Come here. Come here. We want mommy to come closer.
Abigail: Hi. Oh, there's my boy. Yeah. Chad?
Abigail: Is everything going to be okay now?
Abigail: You promise?
Chad: I promise.
Marlena: John, would you-- would you mind if, um... we take a rain check on your big plans for tonight?
John: Oh, of course not. Anything you want.
Marlena: I'll just--I'll, um, I'll check the fridge and, um, see what we've got for supper.
John: Yeah, that sounds good.
John: I got it, honey. Oh, Eric.
Eric: Is it a bad time?
John: No, no. No, come on in.
Marlena: It's fine. It's--it's a perfect time. Um... gosh, I'm so glad you came by.
Eric: I got your message.
John: Look, I got to-- I got some work I need to finish up, so I guess I'll, uh, we'll just, uh, see you in the morning, kid.
Eric: Good night, John.
John: Good night.
Eric: I, uh... [Exhales deeply] You know, I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. You know, after the sentencing, they're going to take me away right then. There might not be enough time for a good-bye.
Marlena: Well, I-- I don't--I don't know how that will go either. Eric, it's not good-bye. Whatever happens, I-I will come to see you and--and your father and your grandmother and your aunts, we will all be there--
Eric: I just hope not.
Eric: Mom, maybe if-- I'm sorry.
Marlena: You have nothing to apologize to me for.
Eric: No, of course, I do. I let you down... completely.
JJ: What's going on?
Chad: Shh. Abby's just sleeping in the other room.
Jennifer: Chad, what happened?
Chad: JJ didn't tell you?
Jennifer: You tell me... exactly what happened.
Chad: Ben broke in, grabbed Abby, so she just, you know, she did whatever she could to fight him off.
Jennifer: And he's in the hospital?
Jennifer: All right, but JJ said it got crazy. What does that mean?
Chad: Look, she was terrified, so she--
Jennifer: Yes, of course. I'm not-- I'm not judging. I just want to know exactly what she did.
Chad: Okay. She stabbed him with a pair of scissors. That slowed him down, but it didn't stop him. So she threw a kerosene lamp at him. Jennifer, it was ugly. Hey, Ben was hurt badly, but at the end of the day, none of that matters because Abby survived and Thomas is safe.
Jennifer: Right, but why-- why did you think it was too much for her?
Chad: It would be too much for anybody.
Jennifer: I know, but did she say something out of place or out of time or--
Chad: It just happened, so she's, you know, she's a little out of it.
Jennifer: Right, but did she yell? Did she repeat something over and over? I...
Chad: Look, I probably just overreacted, okay? She--she's getting some sleep now, and when she wakes up, she's going to realize that everything is okay. Everyone is safe. Jennifer, she just fell asleep.
Jennifer: I'm not going to wake her up. I just want to see her.
JJ: I don't recall seeing any kerosene lamps the night I was on guard.
Chad: Well, you must have missed them 'cause I put one in every room when the power went out.
JJ: It's lucky for Abigail.
Chad: It's lucky for all of us.
Marlena: Eric-- Eric, you--you made a mistake. And--and a... a man died, but you did not intend that to happen. You have a problem.
Eric: Mom, I know. I'm facing it. And starting tomorrow, I have all the time in the world to reexamine.
Marlena: Well, good. That's--that's, uh, that's a good use of the time. Darling, I--I'm here. Your whole family is here.
Eric: I don't want you speaking any of that. I don't know if I really want you every week trekking up to there, okay? I really don't. So this--this is for me to do.
Marlena: No. No. Not alone. Look, if--if you-- if you don't want me there, I understand that. But you need help with this, and--and if you find that the people there aren't right for you, then you tell me, and I will find the right people for you.
Eric: Okay, okay.
Marlena: Okay. Now say it like you mean it.
Eric: I will, mom.
Marlena: Look like you could use a little sleep.
Eric: [Exhales deeply] Yeah. I haven't had much lately. Just bad dreams.
Marlena: About prison?
Eric: No. Just--just Daniel. I try to apologize, to explain, but nothing came out. Because there is nothing to explain. No... no reason. And he forgives me anyway.
Marlena: Now you have to forgive yourself. You can't heal without that. You can't get sober without that.
Eric: [Chuckles] I haven't had a drink in three days, mom.
Marlena: Oh. Oh, that's wonderful.
Eric: Thank you. I should go. Uh, you and John--
Marlena: No, no, no. No, we--we're just-- we're staying home. Just, you know, stay here tonight. We've got the extra bedroom...
Eric: No, no, thank you.
Marlena: We'll go together tomorrow.
Eric: I have to make some more good-byes. See you tomorrow.
Marlena: [Sobbing] You are... such a good man. Don't you forget that. Don't you forget that.
Eric: I'll see you tomorrow.
Marlena: We will be there early.
JJ: Keep it consistent.
JJ: The scissors, the lantern, it all needs to be in order. Everyone's story needs to be consistent. If there is anything that could be contradicted later on down the road, you need to come clean with me right now. I still need to file my report.
Chad: Look, I told you what I saw. What Abby told me, that's it. Now why don't you drop that son of a bitch down a deep dark hole and lose the key, case closed.
JJ: That's exactly how it should be.
Jennifer: You ready to go?
JJ: Yeah, I'll get the car.
Jennifer: Okay. I'm gonna stop back by tomorrow if that's all right.
Chad: Absolutely. Are you feeling okay?
Jennifer: Yeah, I'm just worried about Abigail.
Chad: Yeah, but what happened in the square, you were--
Jennifer: No, I'm fine. Really. Tell Abigail just to call me whenever she gets time.
Chad: I will.
Caring for someone with Alzheimer's means
JJ: I'm off shift in a couple of hours, I--
JJ: No, mom, I can have somebody--
Jennifer: Don't rush home. I'm fine, really, please. I'm good. You just, uh... go file your reports. There's nothing else can do for Abigail tonight. You just make sure that Ben stays locked up and away from your sister.
JJ: Don't worry. Mom, do you-- do you think that abs that-- that this could stay with her?
Jennifer: Honey, she could wake up tomorrow and be absolutely fine.
JJ: Right. Thank you. I love you.
Jennifer: I love you, baby.
Jennifer: [Exhales sharply] Hey.
Jennifer: Can I help you?
Eric: I need a hideout.
Jennifer: This is the perfect spot.
JJ: This isn't enough. As bad as this is, this isn't half of what you deserve. You tortured my sister. You used the system. You used everyone. You played crazy so you could cop an insanity plea and end yourself up in a nice, cushy hospital. You knew exactly what you were doing all along, didn't you? You knew you'd be able to break out, come back here, and go after my sister. You thought you'd be able to get away with it, didn't you? Well, think again, you son of a bitch.
Jennifer: You can help yourself. To our hideout.
Eric: So what are you hiding from?
Eric: Yeah, me too. What else?
Jennifer: Genetics. You try to do everything right, and you're a good girl, and you walk the line.
Eric: Doesn't work.
Jennifer: No, it doesn't because the world still has a way of sneaking up on you. You know? You turn around for one second and--
Eric: And boom.
Jennifer: Boom, yeah. And the same with your kids. You turn around for one second.
Eric: That's all it takes.
Jennifer: Crazy people or crazy genes are gonna get 'em.
Eric: Crazy people. It's a crazy world, and I don't have to worry about that anymore.
Jennifer: Oh. You just gonna leave the world? Wait. You--you are, yeah?
Jennifer: You go away tomorrow?
Eric: [Chuckles] I do.
Eric: Where should we go?
Jennifer: I don't care. Just take me somewhere. I don't care, just take me.
JJ: I don't care how doped up you are. I know you're in there somewhere and you can hear me. So listen up. One way or another, you will answer for Paige. For Will. For Serena. And that poor woman in the woods. You. Will. Pay.
