Provided By Suzanne

Kayla: Steve? Where are you? What's going on?

Steve: I'm cooking.

Kayla: This late?

Steve: Yeah. I'm making us something special. Hey, there's a bottle opener in my back pocket. Could you please get it? Right here.

Kayla: Are you serious?

Steve: Yeah, get it out of there for me.

Kayla: [Grunts]

Steve: Take your time.

Kayla: It's a little--

Steve: Yeah, uh, you got it.

Kayla: Okay. Why are you doing this?

Steve: Well, uh, I was dreaming about chili. Actually, about how much you love my chili. So when I woke up I thought, uh, I could make that dream a reality.

Kayla: But this late at night? I mean, couldn't you do it say, you know, maybe--I don't know, lunch time or something?

Steve: Oh.

Kayla: No. Okay. I'm sorry.

Steve: Oh, come on, baby. We don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow, but we have tonight, and when the condemned man was asked what he wanted for his last meal, you know what he said? A couple of beers, kick-ass bowl of chili, sitting next to the most beautiful woman in the world. Take that. There. Come on.

Kayla: [Laughs softly]

Summer: I, uh... stole some jewelry from my landlady. I tried to pawn it. Got caught.

Maggie: What happened?

Summer: I went to jail.

Maggie: Everyone-- everyone makes mistakes.

Summer: This wasn't a one-time thing. Just so you know. Now you blew it. Just like you always do.

Brady: [Sighs]

Theresa: Brady?

Brady: [Sighing]

Theresa: Are you okay?

Brady: Yeah, no, I'm--I-- I don't know. I'm not sure.

Theresa: Well, what is it? What's wrong?

Brady: I don't know. I feel like my heart just skipped a beat. No, it's not--it's not-- hold on, it's not pain. Don't panic. It's not a heart attack.

Theresa: Then what is it?

Brady: I don't know. I just felt really anxious just now for no reason. Out of the blue. I feel anxious.

Theresa: I'm gonna call the hospital.

Brady: No, listen, listen to me, the anxiety that I'm feeling, I--it came on before I felt anything in my chest. I don't know what's going on.

Theresa: Ah, well, what are you worried about?

Brady: I don't know... but, um, that's just it. I don't have anything to worry about.

Kate: Mind telling me what this is all about?

Deimos: Well, hello, Kate. Champagne?

Kate: Is that why you summoned me, for a coupe de champagne?

Deimos: You have a problem with champagne?

Kate: No, I have a problem being summoned. What are you doing in Victor's house? If he finds out, he's going to be pissed.

Deimos: That's not a problem. It's no longer Victor's house. It's mine.

Kate: [Laughs] How much champagne have you been drinking?

Deimos: Not nearly enough. I'm celebrating, and I was hoping you would join me.

Kate: I know how Victor feels about this house, and he wouldn't sell it to anyone. Especially you.

Deimos: He didn't sell it. He gave it to me.

Kate: Huh. He wouldn't give you the time of day, much less this house. He loathes you.

Deimos: Well, it wasn't exactly voluntary.

Kate: What exactly did you do?

Deimos: Let's just say I made him an offer. One which he couldn't refuse. She's dying, Victor. She's been poisoned. Now you need me to help her, to give her the antidote. Look at her, Victor. She's barely hanging on. Hmm, wow. Time is of the essence. It's easy to establish how much she means to you. Everything, right? Well, then, that's the cost. Everything you have. Everything you own. That is the price for saving her life.

Victor: He's gonna pay for what he did to you. I swear to God.

Fynn: I'm glad you're here. I have Maggie's latest blood screen.

Victor: And?

Fynn: It shows that both the poison and the antidote have completely gone from her system.

Victor: That's good, right?

Fynn: That's very good. We're prepping her for surgery first thing in the morning. We need her to be as strong as possible.

Victor: How about her legs? Her spine?

Fynn: Well, the MRI can be interpreted in different ways--

Victor: Damn it, don't give me any of that doctor runaround. Tell me the truth. Is she gonna walk?

Fynn: I know you want a definite answer. I just don't have one right now.

Victor: Why not? You've got the damn MRI.

Fynn: An MRI is a diagnostic tool. It's a picture of a shadow.

Victor: Shadow? If it's just a shadow, how the hell you gonna fix her?

Fynn: Unless you keep your voice down, we'll have to talk outside.

Victor: I'm not leaving her.

Fynn: Okay, let me explain. The MRI shows that your wife's injury is in her thoracic vertebrae. The nerve area surrounding is a lot of scar tissue from a previous injury. We don't know until we go in whether or not the nerve has the potential to heal.

Victor: So what you're saying is, you have no idea whether she's going to walk or not.

Fynn: That's right, but I'm not saying she won't. Sir, do you know what your wife means to everyone at this hospital? There isn't a person that's not ready to go to the mat to make sure she gets the best treatment possible. We're gonna do everything we can to get her walking again.

Victor: Everyone loves her. Everyone.

Fynn: We're gonna take really good care of her. I promise.

Victor: You should see her dance.

Kate: There's never been an offer that Victor couldn't refuse.

Deimos: Well, you know what they say. There's a first time for everything, right?

Kate: Well, especially not an offer from a brother he loathes. I feel like you're lying to me. I don't know why.

Deimos: What can I do to prove it to you? Would you like to see the deed to the house in my name? The Swiss accounts in my name? Or better yet, the shipping fleets, yet again in my name. I'll tell you what. Why don't you go upstairs? Check out the monogrammed towels in the bathroom. Guess what initials are on them now?

Kate: I'm not going to believe a bit of this until you give me an explanation. I mean, what did you do? Did you arrange for Victor to have a lobotomy?

Deimos: What I arranged was for a little situation. I simply gave him an option-- love or money, and to his credit, surprisingly, he chose love.

Kate: That's-- that's kind of vague. That's kind of vague, and you told me that you were done with that 30-year vendetta.

Deimos: I am. I swear to God. Now that I've won, I plan on being magnanimous.

Kate: Yes, but how did you win? Victor didn't just hand over the keys to the castle. You had to have forced him into it. You had to have had his back up against the wall.

Deimos: That is a concise and astute assessment of exactly what happened.

Kate: Okay, look... you tell me what you did or I'm going out that door and I won't look back.

Kayla: You know, Steve, I just--I-I just don't really feel like joking around or making toasts. I--I mean, this could be the last night that you--you're a free man, and I just--I just feel like we should talk.

Steve: Okay. You want to talk? I'll talk about anything but tomorrow.

Kayla: [Sighs]

Steve: I just want to have some beer and some chili. Talk about the good times. Past and to come. Because no matter what happens tomorrow, my life is not over, because I got you and Stephanie and Joe. That's all I need.

Kayla: You're incorrigible.

Steve: Oh. You always start throwing around the big words when you're ready to cave.

Kayla: [Giggles]

Steve: So what do you say? You gonna make this night about us? And not about what that crazy woman did to us?

Kayla: Oh, there you go trying to get my Irish up. Presenting beer and chili like it's an act of defiance.

Steve: I'll take that Irish any way I can get it.

[Timer buzzing]

Kayla: What's that?

Steve: Corn bread. Stevie's little baby loves corn bread, corn bread Stevie's little baby loves hot corn bread Stevie's little baby...

Kayla: You don't play fair!

Steve: Stevie's little

baby loves hot corn bread

Deimos: I honestly want to tell you how I managed to best Victor, of course I do. You tangled with him yourself. You knew what I was up against.

Kate: I know that he hates you. I know the confrontation had to be epic.

Deimos: Surprisingly, it was a lot easier than I had thought.

Kate: Really?

Deimos: Yeah. One of the things I've always despised about my brother is that über greekness of his. You know what I'm talking about. Always referencing those Greek gods and plays that nobody gives a damn about, but every once in a while, the Greeks really know how to say it.

Kate: I think you're going to go classical on me.

Deimos: Mm-hmm. I discovered, to my delight, that after all these years, Victor had developed an Achilles' heel.

Kate: So you went in for the kill?

Deimos: Victor's strength has always been his staggering self-involvement. His utter disregard for anyone but himself.

Kate: I don't know if I agree with that.

Deimos: What? Oh, his children? Please. I'm sure Brady and Philip both know that if push came to shove, Victor would cut them both loose and tell them it was for their own good, but Maggie... dear, sweet, lovable Maggie, she made him vulnerable. She made him human.

Kate: So you used Victor's love for Maggie against him?

Deimos: Mm-hmm.

Kate: How?

Deimos: I poisoned her.

Fynn: Thanks for that information. I'll be in touch after surgery.

Theresa: Hi, something's wrong with Brady's heart.

Fynn: What?

Theresa: Can you please help him? Please. We offered women a mystery beauty treatment. it was just like a

Fynn: So when did the pain start?

Theresa: Uh, maybe about a half hour ago?

Brady: No, it wasn't pain. It was just like a fluttery feeling.

Fynn: Was it a constant sensation or intermittent?

Brady: Uh, intermittent. Just a couple times.

Theresa: Yeah, but he agreed to come here, and usually when I ask him to go to the doctor, he fights me tooth and nail.

Fynn: Something different about tonight?

Brady: I... I just feel anxious tonight. That's all I can say about it.

Fynn: So far everything I'm seeing here seems perfectly normal.

Brady: All right, then we're good. False alarm, right?

Fynn: I don't want you to think of it like that. I want you to come in whenever anything feels off.

Brady: Can I go home?

Fynn: If you want.

Brady: All right.

Fynn: But you said you were feeling anxious and you don't know why.

Brady: That's right.

Fynn: Well, I guess you don't know.

Brady: Don't know what?

Fynn: I'm sorry to tell you this, but Maggie's had an accident. She's here. Your grandfather's with her.

Brady: What did-- what the hell happened? Did she--did she faint again, or what's going on?

Fynn: Yeah, but this time it was on the stairs. She took a pretty bad fall.

Theresa: Oh, my God.

Brady: All right, where are they--I got to find her. I got to find them.

Theresa: Brady. Brady, wait.

Brady: No, you know what you need to do? Call, uh, call summer. Let her know that Maggie's in the hospital.

Theresa: What? We can call her in the morning.

Brady: No, call her now.

Theresa: We don't even know how Maggie is yet.

Brady: Summer's her daughter. Just call her.

Theresa: Yeah, yeah, thank you, I know that, but they've got a lot of unsettled business and it could be stressful for Maggie, you know, I think-- I think we should just see--

Brady: You know what, Theresa, you're right, you're right. There is unfinished business between them. That is why summer should be here. Please, please. I'm gonna go get Victor.

Theresa: I don't even have her number.

Brady: I put it in your phone.

Theresa: [Sighs]

[Phone beeps]

[Phone line trilling]

[Phone ringing]

Summer: Hello?

Theresa: Hey, uh, it's Theresa Donovan. Brady wanted me to call you.

Summer: Is he all right?

Theresa: Yeah, he's fine. [Clears throat] Listen, uh, there's been an accident and Maggie's in the hospital. Brady wants you to come over.

Summer: Maggie? What happened?

Theresa: She fell down the stairs.

Summer: How is she?

Theresa: I don't even-- I don't know, okay. I just got here, so listen, can I just tell Brady that you're coming?

Summer: Of course.

Theresa: Okay, great.

Summer: Theresa?

Theresa: Yeah?

Summer: Thanks for calling me.

Theresa: Don't mention it.

[Phone beeps]

Theresa: [Sighs]

Kate: You tried to kill Maggie because she's Victor's Achilles' heel.

Deimos: It does sound kind of cold when you put it like that.

Kate: That doesn't sound cold. It defines cold. It makes Victor seem all warm and fuzzy.

Deimos: I think I need to remind you that Victor's the one who put all of this into motion 30 years ago.

Kate: A 30-year feud. Sounds like the Greek plays that he's always talking about that always end with the stage strewn with bodies. Speaking of bodies, so you tried to murder Maggie. Now did you succeed, or is she still among us?

Deimos: No, she's still with us, thank God.

Kate: You tried to kill her. Your concern seems disingenuous.

Deimos: What? I hold no animus towards the woman. In fact, I think she's quite wonderful. She was simply a means to an end, that's all.

Kate: A means to rob Victor of all of his worldly goods.

Deimos: All right, look, I slipped a little something into her medication. At a critical moment, I offered to negotiate with Victor for the antidote.

Kate: Ah, your money or your wife.

Deimos: Mm-hmm. She was lying there at death's door. I stood there with the syringe in one hand and a portfolio with all of Victor's holdings in the other. He signed on the dotted line and now we're all happy.

Kate: Oh, I'm sure he's deliriously happy. Do you really think he's gonna take this lying down?

Deimos: Who gives a damn? The man has been defanged. Without all that money, he's just another one.

Kate: Victor will never be just another one. You know, I once poisoned a nasty piece of work who had her claws into Lucas.

Deimos: Wow, quite the devoted mother.

Kate: Ended up that I was blackmailed into marrying Stefano. [Sighs] Perhaps if I had had an antidote, I could've dodged that particular bullet.

Deimos: Are you telling me this marriage wasn't exactly a love match?

Kate: Not at first, but after a while, we did get on.

Deimos: So... you like powerful men with sizable holdings just like me.

Kate: Yes, I do, but right now I only have your word on your sizable holding.

Deimos: Well, you're more than welcome to conduct a complete audit, if you like. Come on, Kate. I think you know me well enough by now to know that I'm not a man who keeps secrets. That's why I wanted to be completely open with you tonight. Now if what I did to Victor changes things with us, there's nothing I can do about that. It's done... but I did think it was important for us to be completely open and honest with each other, don't you? Shoulders. They don't just carry backpacks.

Kate: You tell me that you've poisoned a defenseless woman to steal her husband's fortune. Am I supposed to be disarmed by your honesty?

Deimos: I don't want to keep secrets from you.

Kate: Because you're such an open guy.

Deimos: You would've found out anyway.

Kate: I agree. I always think honesty is the best policy when there's no other choice.

Deimos: Speaking of honesty, it's important that you know that I wasn't lying to you when I said I was gonna stop going after Victor.

Kate: So what did you do? Did you cross your fingers behind your back?

Deimos: No, no. I honestly tried to mend fences with Victor. I was even willing to go more than halfway to meet him. All I wanted from him was an apology, an acknowledgment of what he did to me, and he blankly refused to offer me anything in return.

Kate: So you took everything he owns by poisoning the woman that he loved.

Deimos: I'm sorry. I'm sorry if you hate me for what I did, all right? I know that you and Victor go way back.

Kate: We do. We go way back. We share a son. Our lives are always going to be linked.

Deimos: I know, I know, and I know that you did not want me to go after him, but he left me no choice, Kate, and all that time I knew that I was running the risk of losing you.

Kate: Losing me? You just sealed the deal.

Deimos: Excuse me?

Kate: I told you that Stefano blackmailed me into marrying him. If anything matters to me, it's my autonomy. My freedom. And he had me pinned like a butterfly in a display case, and Victor laughed. He thought it was hilarious. He hated Stefano with every fiber of his being, yet he thought it was funny that I was his slave. And now you have pinned him just the way that Stefano pinned me. Guess who's going to have the last laugh.

Victor: She was going up the stairs to go to bed. She got dizzy. She fell.

Brady: She gonna be okay?

Victor: She broke her back.

Brady: Oh, God.

Victor: She's going into surgery in the morning.

Brady: I'm sorry.

Victor: This should've never happened.

Brady: It's not your fault. Granddad, it was an accident.

Theresa: Victor, I heard about Maggie. I'm so sorry.

Brady: Granddad, is there anything you need? Anything we can do for you?

Theresa: Would you like to stay with us tonight?

Victor: No, I'm staying here all night.

Brady: All night, Granddad--

Victor: I'm staying here.

Brady: All right.

Victor: I could do with a scotch and soda.

Brady: I'll go to TBD.

Theresa: You know, I'm gonna call Emma and tell her we'll be a while.

Victor: Right.

Brady: I'll be back.

Victor: My brother's gonna pay for what he did. I'm gonna make him wish he was never born.

Summer: Is she gonna be okay?

Victor: The hell are you doing here?

Victor: What do you want?

Summer: Theresa called me to say that Maggie was here. I wanted to see her. What happened?

Victor: She fell.

Summer: You're Victor, right? Her husband?

Victor: And you're the opportunistic little grifter who crawled out of the gutter to bilk my wife.

Summer: Look, I don't know you, and you sure as hell don't know anything about me.

Victor: I know everything about you, including your criminal record and your jail time.

Summer: I'm not proud of my past, but that's what it is, the past.

Victor: Bull, a con is a con. Your kind doesn't change. Why don't you do yourself and my wife a favor and crawl back into the pacific where Brady found you?

Summer: I'm not going anywhere. I was honest with Maggie about my past and who I was. I am not leaving. Especially not right now.

Victor: Listen, Gidget, you are leaving. Either on your own or I'll have you thrown out.

Summer: We shouldn't be talking like this. She'll sense the tension.

Fynn: Mr. Kiriakis, we're gonna run some pre-op tests. They take about an hour. I can organize a bed if you'd like a little sleep.

Victor: No, that's all right. Actually, I have something I need to do. Shouldn't take too long.

Kayla: I remember the first time you made this for me.

Steve: So do I.

Kayla: Mm-hmm.

Steve: It was, uh, January, and you had to go to Denver.

Kayla: I didn't have to go. You insisted.

Steve: I was right to insist, because you had won that award at the western nurse's conference. You had to be there to pick that up.

Kayla: It was the western united states, and I didn't. I had a small baby at home.

Steve: We had a small baby at home, and she was fine with me, oh, Kayla of little faith.

Kayla: I was a little worried about your domestic skills.

Steve: Mm-hmm. I wonder why.

Kayla: But when I came back, the house was clean, the laundry was done, and the baby wasn't broken.

Steve: Yeah, I-I did good, didn't I?

Kayla: You sure did. Yep, and the chili was amazing.

Steve: I had hidden talents.

Kayla: Mm, you know what my favorite part was?

Steve: Hmm?

Kayla: Was when I came home and you were dressed up as a badass cowboy.

Steve: Well, I thought because you'd won a western award, you'd be in the mood for maybe, uh, a little cowboy action. A little giddy-up.

Kayla: It wasn't western.

Steve: Maybe a dance.

Kayla: I remember that country song that you played.

Steve: You do?

Kayla: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Was it... this one?

[Sweeping music plays]

Kayla: That's the one.

Steve: Dance with me.

Kayla: Let's dance like there's no tomorrow.

[Romantic music]

These times are trouble and these times are good and they're always gonna be they rise and they fall we take them all the way that we should together you and me forsaking them all deep in the night and by the light of day it always looks the same true love always does and here by your side or a million miles away nothing's ever gonna change the way I feel the way it is is the way that it was when I said I do

Deimos: It sounds to me like you're ready to use me to exact revenge against Victor.

Kate: Do you have a problem with that?

Deimos: What do you think? What do you take me for, a hypocrite?

Kate: [Chuckles]

Deimos: Besides, I like unsentimental women. You know exactly where you stand with them.

Kate: I like unsentimental men...with lots of money.

Deimos: I think you know your way around upstairs, right?

Kate: It's been a while. I think I'll remember.

Deimos: I'll tell you what, go up there, pick out a bedroom. Any bedroom.

Kate: Who says you can't go home again?

Deimos: [Sighs]

Victor: I will see you in hell for what you've done to my wife.

That's what I had in mind That's what I had in mind when I said I do

Steve: You know I love you and only you, sweetness.

[Heart monitor beeping]

Summer: I'm so sorry. I can't help but feel that this is all my fault. [Sniffles] I knew you weren't feeling well the last time I saw you, and I know... I know I stirred things up for you. I wish I hadn't told you all the things I did. It's just so hard to think that I might lose you just when I found you. Please... please be okay.

Deimos: You made your choice, big brother. Now get the hell out. This is no longer your house, remember? You chose the love of a woman over all your worldly goods. That wasn't a choice I had 30 years ago. You made sure of that.

Victor: This is not about the past.

Deimos: The hell it isn't. I loved Helena, and you took her away from me, and then you took my life, my future, and then you couldn't even find the words to say you were sorry.

Victor: I wouldn't lie to you about something so important to you. I was not, I am not, and I never will be sorry, but you will be for what you've done to Maggie.

Deimos: The hell are you talking about? I gave her the antidote. She's gonna be fine.

Victor: No, because of you, because of your--your cowardice, your arrogance, your stupidity, Maggie may never walk again.

Kayla: [Chuckles] [Gasps] Oh.

Steve: Mm, cold, baby. You should've stayed in bed.

Kayla: I was restless. I... and you were sleeping so peacefully, I...

Steve: Hmm. I feel peaceful. Tonight was everything I wanted it to be. I wish we could stay like this forever.

Kayla: Well, we can't. Tomorrow's gonna come no matter what we do. And I just... I just want to tell you I love you. And I always will. [Chuckles]

Steve: Then it doesn't matter what happens tomorrow. If you love me, I can survive anything.

Kayla: [Laughs softly]

Brady: I'm gonna take this in to grandfather.

Theresa: Oh, uh, he's not in there. I think he went to go get some air or something.

Brady: He left her alone?

Theresa: No, uh, as a matter of fact, summer's in there with her.

Brady: You sound upset about that.

Theresa: Yeah, I'm trying not to be.

Brady: You still don't trust her, do you?

Theresa: I do. Of course I do.

[Heart monitor beeping]

Maggie: Summer?

Summer: [Gasps] You're awake. I'm so glad. [Chuckles]

Maggie: What happened? Why am I here? [Sighs] Where's Victor?

Deimos: I'm really sorry to hear that. Maggie truly is a wonderful woman. I never wanted to hurt her.

Victor: You crippled her.

Deimos: She's alive, Victor. Isn't that what you wanted?

Victor: You bastard.

Deimos: I would've appreciated that same option with Helena. I at least gave you a choice.

Victor: I will kill you.
