Dario: Why don't you have a seat, and we'll grab you some food.
Maggie: Oh, I-I--thank you, I can do that.
Nicole: Here, give me your purse, just for a minute, okay?
Maggie: Oh, okay.
Nicole: Put it down. Okay, careful, to the couch you go. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Dario: Are you all right?
Nicole: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, easy--okay.
Maggie: Yeah, okay.
Nicole: You know what? I'm gonna call the doctor.
John: Hey, are you ready? Brady's party.
Marlena: Oh, oh. Wow, you still want to go to that?
John: Come on, my oldest son says it's important. Yeah, I show up.
Marlena: I thought, after all you'd been through, you might need to stay home and rest.
John: What I need is to be with my family tonight, and the last thing I want to do is disappoint Brady.
Marlena: John, it--it is Brady and Theresa's party, you know.
John: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Marlena: [Laughs] You know, for a smart spy, you just are clueless. You have no idea what this party is all about.
Brady: Thank you for staying the night, Emma. We appreciate it. Oh, no, we'll have both of our phones, so if you need anything, or if Tate needs anything, just call. Will do. Guess what? The nanny has the baby the whole night. We can do whatever the hell we want to do. It's all us.
Theresa: New centerpieces.
Theresa: Those centerpieces are all wrong. I-I ordered...those.
Theresa: I ordered those. Okay, good, yeah. This could work.
Brady: Here's an idea. Just let the staff take care of the prep.
Theresa: I just want everything to be right. You know, this is my one and only engagement party, so.
Brady: Did I call it an engagement party? I think it's just a little family thing to announce.
Theresa: "A little family thing"?
Theresa: Okay, when 40% of your family secretly kind of hates me, it's not little. I just--I just want everything to be perfect.
Brady: Hey, hey, hey. It is perfect. It is. Tell me you're happy. Are you happy?
Theresa: Mm-hmm, completely.
Brady: That's all we need. Done, game over. You and me, we're happy.
Theresa: Mm, and this ring that you put on my... no--what happened to my ring? Oh, God.
Ben: Our baby boy has gotten so big. The day he was born, I could hold him in one hand. Feels like yesterday... in our cozy cabin.
Ben: You'll wake the baby. We don't want to scare him, do we?
Maggie: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you.
Nicole: It's all right, Maggie. You're not yourself right now, are you?
Maggie: I-I-I just don't want to make a big fuss, okay? I think I'm coming down with Victor's cold, and I forgot to eat earlier, and that's all this is.
Nicole: Okay, well, you know, why don't you head upstairs, and we'll have cook make you some chicken noodle soup, and you can curl up under the covers and sleep it off.
Maggie: Mm, sounds wonderful, but I can't.
Nicole: Why not?
Maggie: Brady and ther-- Theresa's party is tonight. Aren't you going?
Nicole: I just thought it was more of a family thing, you know, and--and I'm tired, anyway, and the truth is, I just want to go home and rest.
Victor: What the hell are you doing here?
John: No, no, no, no. You're not--you're not--you're not saying that Brady and Theresa are--
Marlena: Tying the knot.
John: Don't say it out loud, please.
Marlena: John, not saying it won't change it. I mean, this is the next step. So what do you think? Given that there may be a very important announcement, do you still want to go?
John: You know, I've seen the way she is now with Brady and my grandson. I think that--I think that girl really has changed.
Marlena: All right. So you're comfortable raising a toast to their engage--
John: Let's just not use that word right now, but yeah, I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna be there. I mean, what kind of message would I be sending to Brady if I didn't attend this party? I-I--don't want him to have to choose between Theresa and me, and I want access to my grandchild.
Marlena: Good thinking.
John: I want to be a real dad, doc, and if that means I just have to suck it up around Theresa, you know, I can do that.
What was that for?
Marlena: Because you are as smart as you are handsome, and I just love you.
Theresa: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Brady: Hang--look, look, hang on. Don't panic.
Theresa: I cannot believe I lost my ring.
Brady: Theresa, slow down. Just retrace your steps.
Theresa: Everywhere--I have been everywhere in this room since I got here.
Brady: Did you take it off when you were getting ready tonight?
Theresa: No, I'm positive.
Brady: Theresa, Theresa--
Brady: Get off the floor. You're panicking.
Theresa: Everybody freeze. Stop whatever you're doing. We are missing a very distinctive, one-of-a-kind diamond ring. I'll give $1,000 to whoever finds it.
Ben: He looks so peaceful when he's sleeping. I wish I could see his eyes, but if he wakes up, I don't know if I'll be able to get him to go back to sleep. I'm out of practice.
Abigail: I can show you how to soothe him. I'll teach you, if you just give him to me--
Ben: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, you don't. You're a baby hog. I remember that. This is my time with my son. I missed him so much. Every night in that place... I dreamed of him. You know?
Abigail: I do know, Ben. I understand, Ben.
Ben: I dream about you too. I miss my family. My family that Chad took away. Chad destroyed everything.
[Door slams shut]
Chad: Come on. [Grunting]
Theresa: We should work a grid.
Brady: Excuse me, what?
Theresa: You know, that's what they say on those cop shows when they're looking for clues.
Brady: Theresa--hey, hey, I think--stop. Everyone's on it, okay. Now that it's worth $1,000, you're gonna be fine.
Belle: Hi, Brady.
Brady: Hey, belle.
Belle: Uh, yeah, what's going on?
Brady: Um, well, we lost the ring--
Theresa: Of keys. My keys to the townhouse. I'm sure they'll turn up.
Theresa: Hi, hey, hi.
Theresa: Uh... [Breathes heavily] Was he invited?
Brady: Yes, he called, and he asked if he could come with belle.
Belle: Uh, what's going on?
Dario: Mr. Kiriakis, it's good to see you.
Victor: Is it? If you're looking to get your job back at Titan back, forget about it.
Dario: I'm just here visiting family.
Victor: I wouldn't hire you back as a night janitor.
Maggie: Victor, stop.
Victor: You know what this whelp did? He walked out on the argentine division with no warning, no replacement in sight.
Dario: I am sorry, sir. I truly am. If I could've stayed for a transition, I would've.
Victor: What the hell was the big damn rush?
Dario: I was losing my soul in that place.
Victor: Oh, for the love of-- you can't find your soul in a corporate office.
Victor: What are you doing here? Are you with this one?
Nicole: Lovely to see you too, Victor.
Maggie: You know, you need to hush, and you need to thank them both.
Victor: Oh, hell froze?
Nicole: Your wife was in the middle of the Horton square--
Maggie: Yes, Nicole and Dario, they helped me to get home, out of the rain. I didn't have an umbrella. I want to thank you both for going out of your way. I really appreciate it.
Abigail: I'm so sorry it's been so hard for you, Ben. Why don't you come over here and sit down with me and tell me everything?
Ben: I can tell you everything from right here.
Abigail: But I can't even see you over there.
Ben: Is that sad for you, Abigail? You miss my face? What would Chad think about that?
Abigail: This isn't about Chad.
Ben: Really? So you would have had me locked up in that hellhole all on your own?
Abigail: I-I didn't know that that was--
Ben: It was a psychiatric facility. Thought it would be a good time? I didn't belong there. I needed you. I needed my son. What the hell are you doing in this house of horrors?
Abigail: If you sit with me, Ben, I can tell you all about it.
Ben: Nothing--you will tell me nothing.
You want to sacrifice yourself? I can't stop you. But I will save my son from Chad DiMera.
Brady: No, nothing's wrong. Like--like I told Philip when he called, you're both welcome.
Theresa: Okay, I'm gonna go look for those, um, keys.
Belle: Would you like a drink?
Philip: Sure, whatever you're having.
Belle: Play nice, please.
Philip: Why'd you say yes to me coming here tonight?
Brady: Because it was a lot easier than having belle on my back about it.
Philip: So the fact that it's a family party has nothing to do with it?
Brady: What do you--what do you-- what do you want to hear, hmm? You betrayed Victor. That's what you did.
Philip: Okay, no, that is not what hap--
Brady: You give Deimos a valuable formula that Victor has moved heaven and earth to try to develop--
Philip: Because my father said, "get Deimos to trust you and report back to me. Prove to me that I can trust you." There was only one way that was gonna happen. Deimos was never gonna fast track with that formula. I would've taken everything I learned straight back to my father. The old man jumped the gun.
Brady: So you get into bed with Deimos initially, and somehow this is Victor's fault.
Philip: Because my father is never unreasonable? Tell me, Brady, how did you end up tossed out of Titan?
Philip: You fell in love with a woman Victor didn't like, and he called that a betrayal. Is that how it went?
Brady: Philip, those are two very different things, and I don't have--you know what? I don't want to talk about this with you right now. I'm not gonna get into it with you now.
Philip: Whatever you say.
Belle: Here you go.
Philip: I need some air.
Belle: What just happened here?
Nicole: So, listen, we're-- we're gonna go, okay? Feel better.
Maggie: I will, thanks.
Nicole: All right. Victor, always a pleasure.
Victor: Horton town center has a roof.
Maggie: But not when you get outside.
Victor: So, you forgot your umbrella. What about your car? I'm not getting any younger. If you could save me some time and tell me the truth now...
Maggie: I don't know what you mean. Okay, I had a little dizzy spell.
Victor: I'll call the doctor.
Maggie: Oh, don't you start on that now.
Victor: You haven't been feeling well all day, and now this.
Maggie: I'm not sick. I got a bit emotional. I saw my daughter.
Victor: That summer woman? And she set you off?
Maggie: Not intentionally, not at all. She's complex, and she's sweet, and she's clearly had a hard life and...
Victor: She's trouble. The girl is trouble.
Abigail: You know what, Ben? You're right. We could go away together. We can go anywhere you want to go. We'll--we'll go together. We can leave and go anywhere--
Ben: All of a sudden, you want to go with me?
Abigail: Yeah, we can-- we can go--all of us, we can go together.
Ben: Oh, it's because of the baby. You want to be with the baby.
Abigail: Thomas is my son. You can't go without--
Ben: Who--who? Who the hell is Thomas?
Abigail: Thomas is my son. That's Thomas.
Ben: My son's name is Colin. You can't change that. Did you... is that what his name says on the birth certificate? Why would you do that?
Abigail: We decided it would be best for--
Ben: Who--who--who's--who's-- who's "we"? Who decides that they can rename my son? I decide what my son's name is.
Abigail: He's not your son!
Abigail: Thomas isn't your son. You're not the father. Chad is.
Chad: [Screaming] JJ! [Grunting]
[Percussive suspenseful music]
Dario: So, has Victor gotten more...
Nicole: Cranky? Irrational? Oh, yeah, and he's squishier, believe it or not. That's Maggie's influence.
Dario: So glad I don't work for him anymore.
Nicole: Sounded like the feeling was mutual.
Dario: You want to grab some dinner?
Nicole: No, I--I'm making it an early night.
Dario: That was just an excuse to get out of the party.
Nicole: Was it that obvious?
Dario: Maggie bought it. I didn't.
Nicole: I'm just 99% sure it's an engagement party, and I just can't. I-I'm truly happy for Theresa and Brady, but it's just... it's too close and too far away.
Nicole: Do you think Maggie could tell? Oh, great, now--now I feel selfish.
Dario: No, no, no, no, no. She had other things on her mind. You really care about her, huh?
Nicole: She is one of the most generous, forgiving people in the world.
Nicole: Doesn't seem like my type, or I'm not hers?
Dario: [Laughs] No, I wouldn't say that.
Nicole: Well, you would be the first who wouldn't, then, because I worked hard to win Maggie's trust, but we got there.
Dario: You looked out for her today.
Nicole: Every day now. So I have to ask: Should I be worried about summer hurting Maggie?
Maggie: Any trouble in summer's life began with me.
Victor: And now she sees a payoff.
Maggie: I honestly don't see any ulterior motives here. I mean, she was packing to leave when I found her.
Victor: Yeah, and I bet you, you didn't have any trouble talking her out of it.
Maggie: Well, I don't know about that. I know you're looking out for me, but she's my daughter, and Victor, I need for you to give summer a chance. Oh, dear. Is this the time? We got to get dressed for Brady's party.
Victor: Oh, I'm gonna pass on that.
Maggie: They said it was important. They want the whole family there.
Victor: I cannot sit and watch that she-devil drag Brady around by the nose and make polite conversation.
Maggie: Well, no one expects polite conversation from you, dear, but they still invite you.
Victor: Yeah, well, that's their first mistake.
Maggie: Brady really wants you there, and I'm gonna go, regardless of what you say, but it's sure I would feel a whole lot better with you on my arm.
Victor: So I'm going to be eye candy?
Victor: And I don't have to be nice?
Victor: I'll stay an hour.
Belle: Do you know how hard it was to convince Philip to call and ask to be invited to his own family's party?
Brady: That's a question that I don't think about at all.
Belle: All right, well, he came here tonight because we hoped--he hoped that he would be able to work things out with you.
Brady: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, "we--we hoped" is what you said. Don't tell me you guys are a unit or something.
Belle: Well, how much grief would it get me if the answer was yes?
Brady: Some. Not a lot, but some. Does he--does he make you happy? Does he treat you well?
Belle: Yes and yes.
Brady: Then I guess I'm happy about it.
Belle: That was easy.
Brady: Who would I be to warn you about someone, anyway? I mean, for six months, people warned me about Theresa, and they were dead wrong about her.
Belle: Hmm, so things are good between you? She's getting herself together?
Brady: Oh, she's totally together.
Theresa: [Sighing] I mean...it should be so shiny that it's glowing. I mean, God, I can't believe I--I've lost a house...a house, a house, at least a house or a car, I mean, at least-- God, I can't believe I just-- God, I just... [Breathing heavily] What are you doing? Look, I told you, this is critical. Hi, uh... [Chuckling] Hi, welcome.
John: Hey. Looking for something?
Ben: No. I'm Colin's father, not Chad.
Ben: You had a test.
Abigail: The test was wrong. We retested.
Abigail: You were gone. While you were away, Thomas got sick, and I--
Ben: You let my son get sick?
Abigail: Ben, just listen to me, please. Thomas is okay; he's fine now.
Ben: Stop calling him that.
Abigail: He's fine now, but he was sick, and we had to retest his blood. We also had to retest my blood and his father's blood, and we retested your blood too, and it wasn't a match.
Ben: That can't be right.
Abigail: No, it--it is. That's--we can go to the hospital if you want...
Ben: No, no, no hospitals.
Abigail: We can test it--we--
Ben: No hospitals.
Abigail: Wait, okay, I'm sorry, okay, okay. Okay, okay. I'm so sorry, Ben. I'm sorry. I know, one day, you're gonna be a great father, but when the... timing is right, when it's--
Abigail: Then you're gonna be a great father to someone very soon. But not to Thomas, because you're not Thomas's father. Ben, Ben, you don't have to worry about anything, okay? You don't have to try to take care of him or worry about him or anything. You're free.
Abigail: You don't--
Abigail: You don't have to take this baby, Ben. You're free.
[Suspenseful electronic music]
Theresa: I, uh...
Marlena: You know, if--if you've lost something, we could help you look for it.
Theresa: No, no, it's nothing--nothing at all. I can find it or not. It's not a big deal.
Brady: Marlena, Dad, Paul.
John: Hey, son, what's going on?
Belle: Hey, dad, hey.
Paul: You look great.
Belle: Aw, thanks.
Brady: Um, thank you. Thank you for coming.
John: Yeah, yeah, we wouldn't miss it.
Marlena: We're curious about your news.
Brady: Oh, once everyone is here, I promise I'll tell you. May I get you something to drink?
John: Oh, absolutely.
Paul: I'll help.
Belle: Well, you look all right.
John: Yeah, we are.
Belle: I was out of my mind worried about you both.
Marlena: You know, I was home and none the worse for wear, thanks to your father.
Belle: Yeah, well, when I didn't know where you were--
John: Everybody's really all right. I don't want to make tonight all about this, at all.
Belle: Okay, but still--
Philip: John, Marlena.
John: Philip, how's it going?
Philip: Great, I'm great.
Belle: I'm so happy that Philip called Brady and decided to come tonight.
Marlena: Yeah, Brady seems happy about whatever he's, um, talking about.
Belle: Uh, why don't you come over here? I'll show you the setup. We'll be back.
John: Take a crowbar to pry that smile off your face.
Marlena: I'm doing the best I can, you know?
John: Philip sets you off, doesn't he?
Marlena: You know what? He's hurt her before, and Claire doesn't especially like him. Claire wants her parents together. Oh, this whole thing is a recipe for disaster.
John: Unless fate steps in. Just saying.
Brady: Babe, babe, babe, forget about the ring.
Theresa: That did not just come out of your mouth.
Brady: Listen, stop, stop it. Hold it--stop, get up. The guests are here. Everyone's here.
Theresa: Why, since you want to announce your engagement to a ditz that can't even hold on to the ring? I mean, Brady--
Brady: We will get another ring.
Theresa: No, I couldn't let you do that.
Brady: I'll say that I wanted you to come with me to pick it out. That's perfect.
Theresa: What--do you know what that sounds like? It sounds like I talked you into having this party and you're trying to appease me, but you don't really want to do it, and--and of course, they'll believe that, because--
Brady: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop, stop, that--that's the perfect reason to say that you lost the ring.
Theresa: So then what? I'm a manipulative gold digger who can't even hold onto the loot? You know that is what they think. God, forget it. We cannot announce this engagement until I find this ring, okay? Just--no.
Brady: We'll get...
Abigail: You don't have to take this baby, Ben. Ben, you're free. You can go wherever you want, and I won't say anything to anyone. I swear. Really, Ben, you can-- you can just go, and you can leave right now and start a new life somewhere.
Ben: You're a liar.
Abigail: Thomas. I'm not lying. I swear to God, I'm not lying.
Ben: You're a liar. This is my son. You can't change that. You can't erase me. Say good-bye to your ex-mama. It's my son. Bye, mama. Say good-bye.
Ben: Colin's coming with me.
Abigail: Ben, Ben, Ben, no. Ben--don't take my son, Ben!
Abigail: Ben! Ben, Ben! No, Ben.
Dario: Summer is not out to hurt anyone.
Nicole: Doesn't mean she wouldn't.
Dario: She's just looking for a place to fit in. She's had it rough. She deserves better.
Nicole: Who doesn't?
Dario: Apparently me. Night janitor.
Nicole: Nah, you don't even get that.
Dario: Right, I should be on the street with a tin cup and a cane.
Nicole: What would it look like?
Dario: Me with a tin cup? It's not pretty.
Nicole: No, no, something better. What would your "something better" look like?
Summer: I'm not sure when I'll be checking out now. Do you have a monthly rate, if I wanted to stay? Let me see. Ends in 4975? Yeah, leave it on that credit card, thanks.
Philip: This place suits you...us.
Belle: Well, we'll make it great for us and for Claire.
Philip: That deserves our own private toast. More champagne?
Marlena: You two seem very...close.
Belle: Happy is the word.
Marlena: Is that the word?
Belle: Yes, listen, right now, we want the same things, and we're having a good time. That does count.
Maggie: Hey, John.
John: Hey, Maggie.
John: Hey, Vic.
Victor: Good to see you.
John: Uh, yeah.
Maggie: Did we miss anything--ooh.
John: No, no, no. We're just waiting to hear what it's all about tonight.
Victor: Maybe they will announce their breakup.
Victor: Well, I can dream.
John: Yes, he can. [Chuckles] Brady's happy, though, and that's what I want for my son.
Brady: Listen, listen, listen, everybody is here. We have to tell them something. Listen, I'm not gonna make you look stupid or anything. We'll just--forget the ring. The ring doesn't matter. You know what matters? That I love you, and I want everybody in this room to see it.
Theresa: Okay, maybe they could see it another time--
Brady: Jeannie T. Stop, end of discussion. This is happening.
Abigail: No, no. No, you can't take my son! You can't! Ben, you can't.
Chad: Abby? What's wrong?
Abigail: You have to get him. Get Ben.
Abigail: He has my-- he has Thomas. You have to get him. Why are you standing there? Get him.
Abigail: Get him; get Ben. He has Thomas. You have to get him. Please--what is wrong with you? Why are you both just standing there?
Chad: Are you--are you--are you okay?
Abigail: I'm fine. Get him. Get him before he gets away. He is standing right there, and he has my--I'm not gonna calm down. Get him; get our son!
Chad: There's nobody there.
Abigail: What, are you nuts? He's standing right there. He has our son in his arms. Get him, Chad, please.
JJ: Abigail, nobody is standing there.
Abigail: What? He is standing right there. [Sobbing]
Dario: If I knew the answer to that...
Nicole: You wouldn't be here?
Dario: I-I-I don't know. "Something better" isn't attached to a place for me. It's more like feeling... I don't know. I want to find it soon.
Nicole: I remember that feeling. I was probably more shocked than anyone.
Dario: You'll find it again. For what it's worth, summer already knows what she wants.
Nicole: And that is?
Dario: What most people want. To be happy, be in love, have a family.
Nicole: That's pretty generic.
Dario: She wants a real mother. After what she grew up with? She deserves a mom like Maggie. What?
Nicole: Does Maggie deserve a daughter like her? I'm sorry. I'm just gonna say it. The girl seems pretty messed up.
Summer: You offered me the credit increase a month ago. Yes, I'm positive. I have the email right here and... okay, okay, fine. Fine, I will forward you the email, and you can have your supervisor get back to me with an apology.
[Spoon ringing on glass]
Brady: Excuse me. Everybody, can I please have your attention? Um, I'm sure you're all curious as... sure you're all curious as to why we called you here tonight and what announcement we could possibly have. Theresa and I have given a lot of you in this room reason to worry, but our hope is that we've also given you a lot of reason to celebrate. We have a beautiful son, the resurrection of basic black, mainly due to this woman right here. Well, Theresa and I, we've-- we've been through some real--Maggie?
John: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Victor: Easy, Maggie.
Abigail: You can't see Ben now? He has Thomas in his arms! Don't you see that? You can't see that?
JJ: He's not here, Abigail.
Look, abs, abs. Thomas--Thomas is right here, okay?
