[Soft music]

Brady: Hi.

Maggie: Hi.

Brady: You should be at Abigail's wedding right now.

Maggie: I should, but Victor's sick, and you know how that goes.

Brady: Oh, yeah, I do.

Maggie: I'm on my way to get his prescription now.

Brady: Maggie, tell him-- tell him I hope he feels better.

Maggie: I will. How is your friend summer?

Brady: She's okay. I think she feels terrible about blowing her interview with you. I know she was nervous, and... actually, would you mind giving her another shot? Please?

Maggie: Why is this so important to you? You didn't even know this woman a few weeks ago, and now you're her savior. Why?

[Dramatic music]

Jennifer: Come here. Have some water. Come on.

Abigail: No, I'm not-- no, I'm not thirsty! I don't want a drink. And I'm not hallucinating, okay? He was right there. He was right there. I know he was. He was right outside those doors. I saw him. I saw his face.

Jennifer: Honey.

Abigail: He was right there.

Mom, you believe me, right?

Jennifer: I-I think that with everything Ben did, you would be right to be upset. Yes.

Abigail: So you don't believe me.

Jennifer: It just doesn't make any sense, honey. JJ said it was an elaborate escape. So if he went to all that trouble, why would he come back here, where he knows everyone's looking for him? He wouldn't do that.

Doug: Your mom has a point.

Abigail: Ben is not a sane person. And you have no idea what this man is capable of.

Julie: Darling, your soon husband-to-be is outside with the police, everybody we need, and if Ben is crazy enough to show up here, we will catch him.

Chad: Make sure the tunnel's secure, and double the guards. Work with Salem P.D. On this. Yes, it's a new day... for now. Cooperate, but report back to me.

Eric: Chad. Been around every inch of this house.

Lucas: There's no sign of an intrusion.

Chad: Yeah, my team says the same thing.

JJ: I heard the call come in. Ben was here?

Chad: Look, just-- will you guys go inside and tell everyone it's okay?

Eric: Yeah.

Chad: Abby thinks she saw Ben.

JJ: Nobody else saw him?

Chad: No, my team says that there was no sign of intrusion either.

JJ: Do you think that it's possible?

Chad: I don't know. I'm taking it seriously. We all are. Truth is that Abby's been jumping at shadows ever since she found out Ben escaped.

JJ: Wish we could calm her down. It's her wedding day.

Chad: You know what? Maybe there is a way we can.

Abigail: JJ, hi. I'm so glad you're here.

Jennifer: We both are.

JJ: Are you okay?

Abigail: Yeah, I'm okay. I am now. I'm sorry, Chad. I feel so stupid.

Chad: No, no, it's okay, all right? You thought you saw something.

Abigail: I stopped our wedding.

JJ: Hey, it got me here in time. I'm so sorry I was late.

Abigail: Yeah, what happened to you, squirt? It's not like I do this every day.

JJ: There was a-- there was a thing.

Abigail: A thing? That's it, really?

JJ: It was an emergency with Arianna.

Lucas: A what? What'd you say?

JJ: She's okay. So is Dr. Evans.

Julie: Marlena?

Adrienne: Huh? What happened?

JJ: There was an incident. We're investigating now, but everything is under control.

Lucas: Where is my granddaughter?

JJ: Checked out at the hospital.

Lucas: She's at the hospital now?

JJ: She's with her mom.

Lucas: What the hell--

JJ: She's with her mom.

Eric: And Dr. Evans?

JJ: I also heard something on the radio on the way over. It's about Ben.

Brady: Maggie, Maggie, listen. Summer is an old friend of Daniel's, and I'm the one that suggested that she come back to Salem. So I just want to see her get settled. Please, just give her another chance.

Maggie: [Sighs] I really don't know.

Brady: It's only a volunteer job. It's not a big deal.

Maggie: Volunteers who work closely with patients and their families, people who are in crisis. She has no training.

Brady: Do you know who is probably looking down on us right now and shaking her head? Alice Horton. I recall her giving a certain girl straight off the farm a volunteer job at the hospital.

Maggie: Those were different times. I worked in the snack bar, for Pete's sakes. And this is a lot more responsibility.

Brady: I still think that she would've given her another shot.

Maggie: Hmm. You know you're relentless?

Brady: I also think, if Daniel was standing right here, he'd be doing the same thing. Come on. What do you say?

Chad: I got the same confirmation from the watch commander as JJ did, that they're sure it was Ben.

Abigail: Louisiana? Why would he be there?

Chad: 'Cause he headed south for Mexico.

JJ: Mm-hmm.

Abigail: How do they know that?

JJ: Just from tracking him.

Chad: And, baby, it makes sense. Yeah, there's no way he was gonna come here.

Abigail: So Ben is nowhere near this house?

JJ: That's how it looks.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: Oh, thank God. Thank God.

Chad: Baby, you're shaking.

Abigail: I'm just relieved.

Chad: He was never gonna get close to you. I would never let anyone hurt you.

Abigail: I feel so silly.

Julie: Now, you stop that, darling.

Chad: Listen to Julie.

Julie: Wow, no one's ever said that before.

Abigail: Well, I'll listen. Will you still marry me, Chad?

Chad: Um, can I have a minute to think about that?

Julie: Ladies and gentlemen, places. Let's take it from the top! Here we go.

Doug: JJ.

JJ: Is something wrong?

Doug: No, no, no, no. [Clears throat] Under better circumstances, your father would be walking you down the aisle, correct? Yes. Well, though I am very honored that you asked me, I would feel much better if your father's namesake would do the job, if it's all right with the two of you.

JJ: Well, when we were kids, she used to make me do it in her pretend wedding, so... I guess it's only right if we do it for real this time.

Abigail: [Sniffles] Thank you. Thanks.

JJ: Thank you.

Doug: JJ, she's all yours.

[Soft music]

Maggie: Mm, I won't make any promises where that woman is concerned, Brady.

Brady: But?

Maggie: Okay. If I see some more opportunity for a volunteer, I will keep her in mind.

Brady: All right. Hey, thank you.

Maggie: You're welcome, and I got to get Victor's medicine.

Brady: Okay.

Maggie: And good luck with whatever is in that jewelry bag.

[Soft music]

Brady: [Sighs]

[Wedding march playing]

Chad: [Mouths words]

Abigail: [Sighs]

We are gathered here today to be part of one of the most joyful of days. We're here to witness the joining of two hearts, the union between Abigail Deveraux and Chad DiMera in holy matrimony. If there's anyone present who has just cause to believe these two should not be joined in marriage... shush!

I've learned over time.

Chad: Well, wouldn't stop us anyway.

Abigail: He's right.

As this couple comes together, pledging their lives to each other, we'll have readings the bride and groom have both privately chosen for each other.

[Soft music]

Jennifer: Abigail asked me to read a little portion of a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. "Neither love me for thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry: A creature might forget to weep, who bore thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby! But love me for love's sake, that evermore thou mayst love on, through love's eternity."

Julie: Chad has chosen a passage from "the forgotten hostage," jack's book, written after he was held in Afghanistan. Abby, I know this book holds a very important place in your heart, but it's an important bond between the two of you as well.

"By 150 days in, the picture was worn. Some of the red dirt I used to hide it during the day was now ground in the creases. But I could still make out their faces: My beautiful wife, our children... thousands of miles and just a whisper away from me. Those faces, those smiles. Their touch was the only one I allowed myself to feel. They were the reason I lived, the reason I would survive. Family was the thread that held me together. It's the unbreakable bond that sets us free, makes us brave, makes us howl in pain and cry with joy as nothing else can. Family is the reason we transcend any hardship and know that no matter where we are flung in this world... we have a home."

[Soft music]

Maggie: Hello.

Summer: Hi, Mrs. Kiriakis. Listen, um, I wanted to apologize for my interview.

Maggie: It's okay.

Summer: No, it's not okay. I was a bundle of nerves, and it's not like me.

Maggie: I'm not so sure why you were so nervous. I don't bite.

Summer: Maybe, if you have a few minutes, I would love to buy you a cup of coffee. Could we maybe call it a do-over? I mean, you know, if the position is still available.

Maggie: Sure. Uh, let's have coffee.

Summer: Okay.

[Elevator bell dings]

Abigail: Chad... [Sighs] All I want in this world is to be the woman that you see in me, your Abby. If I can somehow give you half as much as you've given me, then you will always be loved and cared for. God knows our story has not been perfect. Definitely had our ups and downs. But our love has always been bigger than the two of us. We finally learned how to just get out of its way. Chad DiMera, you're my hero. You are my soul mate. You're my best friend. And you're my true love. I am so honored to spend the rest of my life with you as my husband and me as your wife.

Chad: This is new for me. The idea of love and family was-- was always loaded... to say the least. When I look at you and our son, I see everything... everything that I could ever want. You made me the richest man in the world because you gave me love... and a real family. Now, I could never say it as-- as well as your father did. But I will spend my life honoring that and honoring you and loving you with everything I have in me.

Do you, Chad Michael DiMera, take this woman, Abigail Johanna Deveraux, to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her for as long as you both shall live?

Chad: I do.

Do you, Abigail Johanna Deveraux, take this man, Chad Michael DiMera, to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him for as long as you both shall live?

Abigail: I do.

[Dramatic music]

The ring is a symbol of the unbroken circle of love. Love freely given has no beginning and no end. May these rings always remind you of the vows you have taken.

Chad: [Clears throat] [Sniffles] With this ring, I thee wed.

Abigail: [Sighs]

With this ring, I thee wed.

Chad: Just got to push it on a bit.

Chad and Abigail, we have all been witness to your vows. Your family and friends present pledge to support you on your journey. We pray for a gentle road filled with contentment and laughter. We pray that you keep lit the torch of love that you now share so that by your loving example, you may pass on the light of love to your children and to your children's children for all the days of your lives. Mr. DiMera, you may kiss the bride. Mrs. DiMera, you may kiss the groom.

All right, chuck. 30 minutes from now, polls close in Florida, Illinois, and Missouri. We invite you to stay with us throughout the night and

Nicole: Look, I don't care where we launch, as long as it's not remotely the same space we used for basic black.

Theresa: Agreed. Ah. What do you think about a boat?

Nicole: Ooh, I like it. A captive audience. Of course, we'll make it a luxurious experience.

Theresa: Yes.

Nicole: But I don't know. I just hope nobody gets seasick. [Chuckles] Oh. Hmm. Looks like summer's making her move.

Maggie: [Chuckles] So why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself? Where did you grow up?

Summer: Texas. I was adopted. My parents were pretty strict, very religious. It didn't really work for me, so I ended up leaving as soon as I was old enough.

Maggie: Where did you go?

Summer: Los Angeles. I took some classes, and I always had a job.

Maggie: Well, what was your degree?

Summer: Well, I had so many interests, I never ended up having enough credits in any one thing. Honestly, it took me a really long time to find myself.

Maggie: So is this where my son came in, finding yourself?

Summer: He was the best friend I ever had.

Maggie: He cared a lot about people.

Summer: Right? He would never think about himself. He would always ask about others. I am so sorry. I didn't mean to make you sad.

Maggie: You didn't. [Sighs] It's really--it's, uh-- it's like happy tears, you know? I'm happy that someone else remembered the man I knew. So, um, your studies?

Summer: They didn't pan out. I think I'm making this sound worse than it was.

Maggie: [Chuckles] Oh. No, it sounds honest.

Summer: Yeah. Well, my life hasn't been all terrible. I mean, I have had my challenges.

Maggie: Mm. Well, I appreciate your candor.

Summer: You're easy to talk to. I figured it would be better to get everything out in the open so there are no other surprises down the line.

Maggie: [Chuckles] Okay. Other surprises? What does that mean?

Chad: I'll just...

Jennifer: Okay.

Chad: Uh, thank you.

JJ: I hate it.

Chad: Yeah, me too, all right? But she's been like that ever since she found out Ben escaped, so...

JJ: So it's the least I owe you to lie to her now since I spilled the beans in the first place?

Chad: I didn't say that.

JJ: Yeah, I know. But that, it's worth it to see her happy.

Chad: Yeah, it is.

JJ: And with any luck, Ben's on his way out of the country.

Chad: Well, he better be. He's not gonna get anywhere near her. I'll see to that myself.

[Dramatic music]

So my kids don't have to forage,

Harold: Yes.

Chad: I need you to make sure that all of the windows are locked with the safety bars, especially on the first floor and all the garden doors, okay? Hey, man of the hour.

Theo: That's you. Congratulations.

Chad: Hey, I couldn't have done it without you, you know? It felt like, um-- felt like your mother was right there with us.

Theo: Yeah.

Chad: She would have been proud of you, Theo. Every day.

Theo: I hope so.

Chad: Yeah. Where's that date of yours?

Theo: She's waiting outside.

Chad: Yeah? Yeah, looks like you got a thing for her, huh?

Theo: No, uh, Ciara's just my friend. That's good for now.

Chad: Mm-hmm. Let's get some food.

Abigail: Thanks for coming, squirt.

JJ: Yeah, I just wish everyone was here-- you know, Rafe, roman, and hope. And Gabi is sick to miss your wedding. And where's Maggie?

Abigail: It's fine. JJ, you and mom were here, and really, that's all that matters.

JJ: And dad.

Abigail: Oh, my God. Could you believe that? I had no idea. It was such a surprise. Do you get why I love my husband now?

JJ: Kind of.

Abigail: Oh, God, I have a husband! [Laughs]

JJ: So I mean, think about it this way. You are going to have a kick-ass anniversary party, and everyone is going to be there.

Abigail: Yeah. Go.

JJ: What?

Abigail: Go. I know you want to check on Gabi. It's okay, really.

JJ: Thank you. I love you.

Abigail: I love you too.

JJ: Congratulations.

Abigail: Okay.

[Dramatic music]

Eric: Hey. I'm sorry about earlier.

Jennifer: Yeah, me too.

Eric: Can I walk you home?

Jennifer: Thanks, but I'm gonna stay here with Abigail and Chad for a little while.

Eric: Yeah, sounds good. Listen, I'm gonna say bye to the happy couple, so I'll see you soon.

Jennifer: Yeah, okay.

Abigail: Ooh. Oh.

Theresa: Ah, yeah.

[Cell phone beeps]

Theresa: Oh. Oh, hey, it's Brady. He wants to meet me at home.

Nicole: Oh, yeah. Okay, go ahead. I'll just stay here and work.

Theresa: Can you keep an eye on miss thing?

Nicole: Oh, yeah.

Theresa: Great.

Nicole: Bye.

Summer: Well, I just think you should know everything about me for the job. I don't want there to be any surprises.

Maggie: Of course. Okay, um, do you have any questions?

Summer: Brady already told me a lot, like how you came from a farm outside of Salem and you were married to this great guy before Mr. Kiriakis.

Maggie: I, um--I meant questions about the job.

Summer: Oh.

Maggie: I'm curious, why would Brady be telling you about my personal life? Real cheese people,

[Romantic music]

Brady: [Sighs]

[Door clicks open]

Theresa: Hi.

Brady: Welcome home.

Theresa: What is this?

Brady: Um, this is what you would call downtime.

Theresa: Okay.

Brady: It's you and me time. Some people call it adult time.

Theresa: Hmm, well--

Brady: It's "the baby's asleep, so we can concentrate on us" time. That's what it is.

Theresa: I like it.

Brady: You've been really patient.

Theresa: [Chuckles] I don't know if you know what that word means, honey.

Brady: I'm figuring it out. And that's what you've been through this whole summer episode. And I know that I have not been that easy to live with through it.

Theresa: Hey, there's no place I'd rather be.

Brady: Me neither. Me neither.

[Dramatic music]

Summer: Please don't be mad at Brady. He was trying to make me feel more comfortable so I won't be nervous about you. It was like he was telling me how good and caring of a person you are so I would be more-- I'm sorry. This has become so awkward, and I never meant it to be. Thank you so much for your time.

Maggie: Wait a minute! Wait a minute. There's something going on here. What aren't you telling me? Hmm? Is it about Daniel? Please, tell me what it is.

Summer: Everything's fine. I really enjoyed talking with you.

[Suspenseful music]

Abigail: [Sighs] [Exhales deeply]

[Door creaks]

Ben: Abigail.

[Glass shatters]

[Romantic music]

Brady: Hey, do you, uh-- do you ever, um--do you ever think about the future?

Theresa: Well, I love right now.

Brady: Yeah, but--

Theresa: Mm, I bet I'm gonna love...

Brady: Honey.

Theresa: The next hour even more.

Brady: I'm sure you will. What do you, um--what do you think about ten years from now? Do you ever think about that?

Theresa: Um, well, we'll just--we'll be even better, so...

Brady: Yeah. But do you--do you-- where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Theresa: Mm, well, I am hoping right here is an option.

Brady: [Chuckles] Right, but anything else? Do you, you know...

Theresa: What do you mean? Well, we'll still be crazy in love, of course, but we will be running the world, and our son will be a young genius, and he will have a little sister...

Brady: Yeah.

Theresa: Giving him a run for his money, right?

Brady: [Laughs] I like that. I like that. And you know what's funny?

Theresa: Hmm?

Brady: I want to make that happen.

Theresa: Mm, me too.

Brady: Yeah.

Theresa: Yeah.

Brady: Mm-hmm.

[Knock at door]

Brady: [Groans]

[Knock at door]

Brady: [Sighs]

Summer: I think I just ruined everything.

[Dramatic music]

Abigail: [Breathing heavily]

Chad: Abby! Hey, what's going on?

Abigail: Someone in the garden just called my name. The doors were closed, and they opened, and someone called me.

Chad: Okay, it was probably just the wind.

Abigail: No. No, those doors were closed.

Chad: Okay, look, it doesn't latch all the time. You know that. Just stay away from the glass. I was just out there. There's nobody there.

Abigail: I know it was his voice. I know it was him, Chad. I know it was him.

Chad: Okay, okay, okay, okay. And the guards know Ben's face. He's not gonna get anywhere near here. Abby, where are you going?

Abigail: I need to get Thomas. I need to get Thomas in his carrier and get out of here.

Chad: Where?

Abigail: Anywhere! Anywhere that Ben will not come looking for us.

Chad: Okay, that's the last thing that we should be doing.

Abigail: No, I'm not staying here. I am not staying here until Ben is back in prison.

Chad: Okay, well, the Salem inn isn't gonna be any safer.

Abigail: Well, we won't either. I am leaving Salem tonight, Chad.
