Maggie: I'm not sure how long I'm gonna be. I have to go to the hospital. The interview with the woman that Brady brought back from la.
Victor: She has to be interviewed to empty bedpans and pass out magazines?
Maggie: Mm. Well, imagine the consequences if she got it backwards.
Maggie: Philip. Hello.
Victor: How'd you get in here?
Philip: Henderson let me in.
Victor: Well, he shouldn't have.
Philip: I guess it still matters to him that I'm your son.
Maggie: Ah. Well, you know what? So sorry I have to leave. You two are such fun. Victor, remember your blood pressure.
Victor: So what do you want?
Philip: You're gonna get a phone call soon, and we need to talk before that happens.
Victor: Don't play games with me, Philip. What phone call? From whom?
[Cell phone ringing]
Philip: Could you let that go to voice mail?
Victor: Kiriakis. What?
Victor: I'll have your head for this.
Shawn: Son of a... [Chuckles] Am I in the right place? I'm looking for the law office of belle black, attorney at law? Oh, because this looks a lot like a nightclub to me.
Belle: And a pleasant hello to you too.
Shawn: This place is great. I mean, you can take your law books; you can put them right over there behind the bar, right next to the liquor bottles. Play down that whole stuffy lawyer image.
Belle: You know why I bought this place. I bought it for Claire.
Shawn: Right. Oh, yeah, Claire wants to sing, so you buy her a nightclub? You ever heard of glee clubs, belle?
Belle: All right, this is not an extracurricular thing for her, Shawn. She wants to make a career out of it.
Shawn: Oh, well, thank God she doesn't want to be a professional basketball player, 'cause then you'd have to buy her a WNBA franchise.
Belle: [Laughs] Look at the funny guy. You should come by for open-mic night.
Shawn: Trouble is, belle, this isn't funny. You screwed up with Claire, and now you're trying to buy your way out of it.
Belle: You can go.
Shawn: And you're using stolen money to do it.
Joey: So you don't want me to leave the house? No, Mom-- Mom, don't--don't be sorry. I'm the one who got us into this mess in the first place. Okay. All right, bye. [Sighs]
Ava: Joey. Joey, what are you doing? [Screaming]
[Knock at door]
[Knock at door]
Ava: Claire, this is not a good time.
Claire: Joey, something is going on with Ciara.
Joey: Claire, no one's supposed to be here right now.
Claire: Joey, listen to me. Something happened to Ciara, something really bad.
Abe: Yeah, Theo, I know it's hard for you to talk about your grandfather, but, you know, I think it might help if you told me how you're feeling.
Theo: Well, I don't know how I feel. I mean, I think about him every day. And I know--I know he did bad things, but he was just always so great, you know? And I just--I don't know. I feel like-- I just--I feel like he...
Abe: Yeah? What were you gonna say? Theo?
Can we not hog all my alcohol, please? Hey, hey! You're the girl with the weird name, right? I remember you.
Ciara: Uh, I can't say the same about you.
We were at that warehouse thing. We didn't get a chance to party together, but... you looked like you knew how. Want to make up for lost time?
Theresa: Mm, I was hoping that you'd be here.
Theresa: Hi. You know, Tate is still out with the sitter.
Theresa: So we have this place all to ourself. And I think I know how to make use of this time.
Brady: Do you, now?
[Knock at door]
Summer: Brady. Hey, are you ready to go?
Theresa: Go? Go where?
Brady: Summer has an interview with Maggie at the hospital.
Theresa: Oh. And you're the chauffeur?
Brady: No. There's news. Mind if I tell her?
Summer: Only if she promises to keep it to herself.
Theresa: What are you two talking about?
Brady: The DNA test came back, and it confirms what Daniel thought. Summer is Maggie's daughter.
Theresa: Really? Well, I think maybe-- maybe you should tell her somewhere a little more private.
Summer: I-I-I just think that...
Theresa: You think...
Brady: Summer--she doesn't want to say anything to Maggie until they get to know each other a little better. That's why she wants to volunteer at the hospital. And once they're comfortable with each other, then summer will tell her the truth.
Summer: I can't do it any other way.
Brady: You're gonna find that you're gonna become very comfortable around Maggie very quickly. She is an amazing person. You're gonna be fine.
Summer: I know, and I know you keep saying that. But no matter what that test says, I'm not sure how I feel about all this.
Theresa: Well, that makes two of us.
Victor: Can't believe it. My son Bo gives his life to protect that formula, and my son Philip decides to steal it.
Philip: I didn't technically steal it. I borrowed it.
Victor: Technically, legally, morally, you stole it. How could you even think to do something like that?
Philip: It's simple. You told me to.
Abe: Theo, look, I do know it's hard for you to talk about your grandfather, and I understand that you saw the best side of him, just like your mother did, but--
Theo: Dad. I got to go. There's something I need to do. I'll see you later.
That's the best you can do?
I told you she knew how to party.
So let's go someplace where we can have a little privacy.
I'm a big fan of privacy. How about you?
Ciara: I want you to stop.
Chase: No, you don't.
Ciara: Chase, stop it!
Chase: Shh. Shh. No, this is what you want. This is what you want.
Ciara: Let me go. Let me go.
Chill, okay? This is a party, right?
Theo: Hey, she said let her go.
And who are you?
Theo: Who am I? I'm the guy who can make you let her go. Now!
Wow. You've got, like, your own personal buzzkill.
Theo: You okay?
Ciara: No. No, I am not okay.
Theo: I'm sorry, but now they're gone, and I'm here now, okay?
Belle: [Chuckles] And we're back to your favorite subject.
Shawn: Oh, well, I-- I know you'd prefer that I not mention that you stole money and you're using it to try to buy Claire's love.
Belle: I did not steal that money.
Shawn: Oh, I'm sorry. You're right. That wasn't accurate. You're just using stolen money to buy Claire's love.
Belle: I don't have to buy Claire's love.
Shawn: Buying a high school kid a nightclub. Maybe it's gonna give her-- I don't know--unrealistic expectations? When we should be teaching her that throwing money at a problem--even if you have large amounts of it--it's not the way to solve it, especially when it's dirty money, when it's drug money, extortion money. It's DiMera money.
Belle: Okay, what do you want? You want me to give it back? Stefano is dead. You made the id yourself. André's in jail.
Shawn: Chad is Stefano's son. The money belongs to him. It doesn't belong to you.
Belle: My God, it is Sami's money! She had every right to take that money, and she wanted me and Claire to have it.
Shawn: Oh, well, I-- I mean, I feel so much better now. 'Cause Sami's never made a bad decision. I mean, you know, what could go wrong with a Sami plan, right?
Belle: You know what I think? I think the Brady in you is coming out. If someone has a dream, wants a different kind of life, they're getting above themselves, right? I mean, if you had it your way, Claire would be serving chowder in your grandmother's pub.
Shawn: And I want Claire to have everything that she wants in life. I do. I just want her to earn it.
Belle: Well, I don't care what you want. And I don't care what you think of me. I don't have to. Or did you forget? We're getting a divorce. Thank God.
Victor: Yeah, sure. I told you to take one of Titan's most valuable properties and walk out the door with it.
Philip: You told me, in order to earn your forgiveness, that I would have to go to Deimos and convince him that I'd walked away from you. Now, I know you don't like me doing any thinking on my own, but I thought that if I was gonna find out what your brother was up to, how he planned to come after you, I needed him to trust me. And he's a Kiriakis. We don't trust anyone, especially other Kiriakises. [Sighs] So I decided to offer him a little proof of my loyalty.
Victor: You know, I think you're right.
Victor: I don't want you doing any thinking on your own. Or whatever it is you call what goes on inside your head.
Philip: It's great having a dad like you.
Victor: You know, I'm not so sure I am your father. Otherwise, there's no way you could do something so boneheaded and still be related to me.
Summer: Maybe she's not gonna show up.
Brady: We're a little early. She'll show up. Trust me.
Summer: You know, I shouldn't have worn this. This is gonna be her first impression of me...
Brady: Summer, summer. You look fine. You don't have to worry about your first impression with Maggie. She's probably the most accepting person I know.
Summer: [Sighs] God, I hate hospitals. Wow.
Summer: Sometimes it amazes me the amount of money people spend on their homes. Look at this.
Brady: You don't like that?
Summer: I--it's gorgeous. Somebody has amazing taste... and all the money in the world.
Brady: That's funny, because Maggie did that room for my grandfather after they got married. That's Maggie's taste.
Summer: This is her house? Your grandfather's house?
Summer: Looks like a movie set. People actually live like this?
Maggie: [Laughing] Aww. Oh, congratulations.
Brady: That's Maggie.
Maggie: Congratulations. Sorry.
Brady: Hi. It's okay.
Maggie: Hi! Lynda just told me that her daughter in Oregon had her baby last night. A little girl! Oh, my goodness. She is just on cloud nine.
Maggie: Ah, a baby... I don't know. That's just the-- that's the happiest news in the whole world. And I'm just rattling on and on, and--hello. Summer, isn't it?
Brady: You--you two already met?
Maggie: Yeah, we have. Nice to see you again.
Maggie: Remember, the other day, we bumped into each other at the square? I dropped my files.
Summer: Oh, right.
Maggie: [Laughs] That wasn't all. I realized afterwards that I-- I lost a charm off my bracelet.
Summer: Did you ever find it?
Maggie: No. And I could just kick myself for being so clumsy. It was just a little charm. Two little red shoes. But it means a lot to me.
Brady: Summer? You okay?
Summer: Fine. I hope you find it.
Maggie: Oh, please, don't worry about it. Brady tells me that you knew my son, Daniel.
Summer: Yes. Yes, I did. Back in California.
Maggie: I'd like to hear about your time with him. I... we still miss him so much.
Summer: I do too.
Maggie: Well, Brady tells me you'd like to volunteer here. So have you had experience with hospitals?
Summer: Yeah. Kind of.
Maggie: Well, why don't we sit down and we can talk about it? So what was the last hospital where you worked?
Summer: Oh, I never worked in a hospital.
Maggie: Oh, well, I thought you said-- I must have misunderstood.
Summer: My experience is, I've been in them. I've never wanted to be there, but I needed to be there for my own good. At least, that's what they told me, anyway.
Joey: So, you come in, you tell me something happened to Ciara, then you go silent on me. What's going on?
Claire: I know. I'm sorry. I came over here without thinking it through. I mean, I thought that I should tell you, but Ciara doesn't want me to talk about it. But I kind of... I mean, she-- she can't just do nothing.
Joey: I didn't understand a word of that. What are you talking about?
Claire: Chase... and what he did to her.
I'm--I'm not gonna lose you. I can't.
Ciara: You're not gonna lose me.
Chase: I love you. I love you.
Ciara: Chase, please.
Thank you for everything, but I got to go. I'm late.
Theo: Wait. Ciara, where are you going?
Ciara: I-I just... got to do something.
Theo: Wait, Ciara. I just--I feel like there's something really wrong.
Ciara: No, I'm fine, okay? I was an idiot with those kids, but I'm fine now, okay?
Theo: No, you're not.
Ciara: I'm just stressed out. A lot of things have gone down, you know?
Theo: No, I don't know, 'cause you don't talk to me anymore. I mean, you tell me words, but they don't mean anything. Look, I'm your friend, and I can tell that you're not happy. So I'm--I'm gonna tell you what I think happened, okay? Because if you don't talk about it, it's not gonna get fixed. Chase is messed up. And he's got this thing for you. And he didn't know what to do with it, so... this one time, he took things a little too far, didn't he?
Shawn: No, I have not forgotten that we're-- that we are in the process of getting a divorce. And I haven't forgotten that we have a daughter together.
Belle: You know what I think? I think you're jealous. I think you're jealous that Claire and I are getting along and doing all of this together.
Shawn: She needs stability. She needs support. Come on, belle, she needs help with her homework. She doesn't need help with a lounge act.
Belle: I believe in dreams, Shawn, and if I'm a bad person because I took some money that wasn't mine, I can live with that, as long as Claire gets to live her dream.
Shawn: Okay. So now you're gonna use our daughter to justify your actions. The belle that I loved, the belle that-- the belle that I married, she'd never, ever rationalize like that.
Do you know who you remind me of? You remind me of Philip.
Philip: I only did what you told me was the secret to your success. I took a calculated risk.
Victor: Heh. If "calculated" means "stupid."
Philip: Damn it, I'm on the inside with Deimos. Being on the inside, I might be able to stop him from hurting you. Risking the formula will cost you nothing in the long run. It already saved Caroline, so what difference does it make? God knows you were in no rush to market it.
Victor: And God knows you were. Another one of your calculated risks.
Philip: You know, I think this is all bluster... to cover up the fact that you're mad at yourself for not coming up with it your own, that it was my plan to put me in the position to bring your brother down.
Victor: I don't need you for that. And given your poor sense of judgment, quite frankly, I don't need you for anything.
Philip: Well, that goes both ways, old man.
Victor: You know what really ticks me off? That you thought you could play me. With your history and your fluid sense of loyalty, didn't you think I'd figure out that you were playing both ends against the middle, scuttling back and forth between me and Deimos, trying to pick the ideal spot for yourself?
Philip: You know, I can't believe it took me this long to figure out I don't want your damn forgiveness. I wouldn't want it if you came begging to give it to me.
My mom loves giving me advice. She even gives me advice...
Joey: Ciara said that chase raped her?
Claire: And you don't believe her?
Joey: I do believe her. I don't believe him.
Claire: Yeah. He scares me. I don't know. I guess I thought that I could always tell if a guy was like that... violent, couldn't be trusted.
Joey: Where's Ciara? We need to see if she's okay.
Claire: I mean, I think she's dealing with it. And I think it's a really good thing that she told me. But what I want to know is, where's chase? He needs to pay for what he did. Really pay.
Theo: You told your mom? That's good.
Ciara: No. I told Claire. I wish I hadn't. Just forget about it, okay?
Theo: Ciara, how am I gonna forget that he hurt you?
Ciara: Listen to me, Theo. I cannot tell my mom. Things have been so horrible for so long. She'll think it's her fault, that she brought him into our lives. So just promise me that you're gonna keep it to yourself.
Theo: Ciara, I just-- I really think--
Ciara: Promise me!
Theo: Ciara, I just want to help you!
Ciara: Then forget that we had this conversation. That's how you can help me.
Maggie: I'm not sure I understand. You were hospitalized yourself? Well, what happened?
Summer: Does it matter? I mean, everybody has problems. Everybody gets sick once in a while. Does that mean I'm not qualified to work here?
Maggie: Of course not. I was just concerned. I hope everything worked out all right.
Summer: Well, I'm here, so I guess it did.
Maggie: Right. [Clears throat] All right, summer, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Summer: Well, I've been living in California, but you already know that. You know, I don't really talk about myself much. I don't know what to say.
Maggie: Well, maybe you could tell me why you want to volunteer.
Summer: You know what? This was a big mistake. Let's just forget about it. And I'm so sorry I bothered you.
Maggie: What was that about?
Belle: I was wondering how long it would take you to bring up the subject of Philip.
Shawn: All I know is, you were a different person before you hooked up with him. And you were a better person.
Belle: You never treated me like you thought I was any good at all.
Shawn: Oh, I'm sorry that I wasn't easygoing about you cheating on me.
Belle: You have the sequence all wrong. You're the one who was detached and moody and dismissive before I cheated on you.
Shawn: So you-- you sought out the kindly professor who was sensitive, who would listen to you, who would--who would respect you as a person. And then you crawled into bed with him.
Belle: Get out. It doesn't matter how I paid for this place. I own it. It's mine. Get out.
Shawn: You know what, belle? I can't stop you if you want to move into la-la land with Philip. I can't. There's no way in hell you're gonna take our daughter with you.
[Cell phone ringing]
Belle: I'm in a truly foul mood.
Philip: That makes two of us. Where are you? I'll come over.
Belle: No, I need some air. I'll meet you in the private park near Horton town square, okay?
Philip: Can't wait.
Abe: Hey, Shawn. Can I get the DiMera file? Shawn, you hear me?
Shawn: Sorry. Do you need something?
Abe: The DiMera file. Everything okay? You having trouble with a case?
Shawn: I-I mean, I wasn't really sure how to handle this one, but... I think I got it all figured out now. Here you go.
Philip: You sounded pretty bad on the phone.
Belle: Yeah. You didn't sound too good yourself.
Philip: I'll get over it. What's wrong?
Belle: Mm, like you, I'll get over it.
Philip: Well, why'd you call?
Belle: Well, remember last time I saw you, you told me how you felt and left it in my lap to figure out where I stood?
Brady: I'm really sorry.
Maggie: Well, you don't need to be sorry. I'm just concerned. I mean, that poor girl seemed so agitated. Did I say something wrong?
Brady: No. Of course not.
Maggie: I must say, you seem pretty upset yourself.
Brady: I got to go.
Ciara: Mom? Anyone home?
Joey: Bottom line is, Ciara has to go to the cops.
Claire: Right now, I can't even convince her to tell her own mom.
[Knock at door]
Joey: Now what?
[Knock at door]
Theo: I saw your car outside. You didn't get my text?
Claire: Theo, Joey and I really need to talk right now.
Theo: He knows?
Claire: Knows? You know too?
Theo: Yeah. I guessed, and she admitted it to me, but she told me not to tell anyone. And she told me that she told you the same thing.
Claire: Yeah, I just couldn't keep it to myself. Ciara's in such bad shape.
Theo: Okay--well, maybe we need to help her, okay? Like, let's go to my dad. He'll know what to do.
Claire: No, no, you can't do that, okay? Ciara's barely hanging on. She could not take it if she had to go to court.
Joey: So what? We just keep this to ourselves, let chase get away with it?
Claire: No, God, we're not gonna let that happen.
Joey: So what can we do?
Claire: I have an idea. But I need your help. 'S
Brady: Summer...Summer! Are you okay?
Summer: How do you think I am? I was in a hospital. And I hate hospitals. Then I saw that magazine with all those photos-- photos that practically scream money, and then I saw her hugging somebody because "new babies are always the best news." Not always, Brady.
Brady: You need--hey, hey. Listen, you need to calm down.
Summer: What I need to do is get my butt back in la and stop wasting my time.
Brady: You're not wasting your time here. Once you meet Maggie, I swear to God you'll see. Everything will be fine.
Summer: Why, Brady? Why in the name of God do you care? I am nobody to you.
Brady: You were somebody to Daniel. And I need to do it for him. And whether you like it or not, he connects us.
Maggie: Well, that was a weird encounter of the third kind.
Maggie: I met with Brady and that friend summer. You know, the one that knew Daniel in la? I asked her a simple question: "Why do you want to volunteer?" She freaked out. She ran toward the elevator and left.
Victor: Why was Brady there?
Maggie: Mm, moral support, I guess.
Victor: Is she pretty?
Maggie: Yes. Why?
Victor: Well, I just thought maybe moral support could turn into something more substantial, something more beautiful, something that's gonna cause him to dump Theresa.
Maggie: Don't hold your breath. Brady's not interested in summer like that. No, it's her connection to Daniel that matters to him. Uh-oh. Oh, dear.
Victor: Now what?
Maggie: Well, Philip's gone. Looks like you've poured yourself a double. How bad was it really?
Victor: We cleared the air.
Victor: Yes, we laid everything out on the table. We know where we all stand. And now I want you to do me a favor. Never mention his name again.
Belle: You wanted an answer. Hope that does it for you. [Laughs]
Philip: I'm a big fan of the nonverbal communication.
Belle: [Laughs] Listen, when you told me how you felt, it scared me.
Philip: So did something change?
Belle: No, not something. Everything.
Ciara: Hello. Oh, hi. This is Ciara. Sorry, my mom's not here. What? We thought chase was with you. He said he was gonna stay with you in Chicago. We thought he was already there.
Chase: Oh, my gosh! What are you doing here? [Grunting] [Muffled yelling]
Brady: So there were two guys in the car that night. One was a surgeon who saved people's lives, and the other was born with a silver spoon, and he used it to do mountains of cocaine. I was saved, and he wasn't. I don't think I'll ever understand that. What I do know is that this heart in my chest is telling me that you need to meet Maggie. You need to know Maggie. I think Daniel would want it.
Summer: You saved my life. So please, don't put yourself down.
You're a good man, just like Daniel was.
Theresa: Summer. Back so soon? I was going to go. I'm sorry about today. Good-bye. I'm sorry to have bothered you.
Theresa: What was she sorry about?
Brady: She kind of lost it when she was talking to Maggie.
Theresa: Ah, well, then maybe she'll finally figure out what I've known all along. Coming here was a bad idea, and she should just go back to la.
Brady: What is wrong with you? Why would you say that?
Theresa: No, you know what, Brady? I have been trying to hold this in for so long. I've been trying to let you work through it all, but you made so much out of this dream, and you know what? It's time for you to wake up. Summer is not your problem, and it's not your job to save her.
Maggie: Victor, I know that you're angry that Philip gave the formula to Deimos.
Victor: Angry doesn't quite cut it.
Maggie: And I know you hate Deimos as much as he hates you. But can't you see that you two have put Philip in a no-win situation?
Victor: No, no, no, no. Philip has never been known for having good judgment, but ever since Chicago, it's been one fiasco after another. And now he's put me in an impossible situation. I can't believe I'm saying this, because he's my son, but I really should have him put in jail for what he's done.
Philip: I don't know what to say, but... whatever made you change your mind, I'm grateful.
Belle: Mm, I just decided to start listening to you. That's all.
Philip: Such a wise decision.
Belle: I don't want to fight being with you any longer. It's as simple as that.
Philip: Did you hear something?
Ciara: This is where the party was, where I was held captive. Why did you bring me here? I don't get it.
Claire: We found him. Now you can do whatever the hell you want to this piece of scum.
