Victor: Thank you for coming by, Caroline. I was hoping we could talk about what happened when you ran into Deimos.

Caroline: Well, really not very much, except... for the smell.

Victor: [Chuckles] I'm sorry?

Caroline: Well, I mean, Stefano DiMera may be dead, but evil has a particular stench, and it doesn't matter who it's coming off. Okay?

Victor: Well, I hope that means you'll give him a wide berth. My half-brother means to hurt me.

Caroline: Why? Why does he hate you so much?

Victor: Goes back a long way.

Caroline: You know, we go back a long way too. Don't you think I deserve to know the whole story?

Deimos: Yes, I have gone over the file Philip gave me on the serum. Seems genuine. I'm having a lab test it as we speak. If it passes, I'll send it right on over.

Philip: You're just full of surprises, aren't you? I checked the local business news this morning. Lo and behold, you're the lead; bought this place from my dad.

Belle: And I've got big plans for it.

Philip: And I can't wait to hear all about them after you tell me what happened. When I woke up, I was all alone. Why'd you take off?

Belle: I shouldn't have been there. It was wrong.

[Dramatic music]

Chase: You know you want it too. You were always flirting and... wearing those tight clothes. Nobody's gonna believe that you didn't want me to. So now I'm gonna do it again. Nobody's gonna believe that you didn't want me to. Nobody's gonna believe that you didn't want me to. Nobody's gonna believe that you didn't want me to.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

[Solemn music]

Chase: No! Just make everything worse.

[Exhales deeply]

[Line trilling] Hey! Aunt Sharon. Hey, it's, uh... it's chase. How are you? Yeah, surprise, surprise. Hey, listen, I've been thinking about what you said after dad died... about me coming up to live with you in Chicago.

Ciara: I want you to stop.

Chase: No, you don't. Don't. This is what you want.

[Ciara gasps] This is what we both want. I love you.

[Door slams]

Hope: Hey. Jen ran out of coffee, so I stopped by the m-- hey, what's wrong? Hey. Talk to me.

Ciara: I'm okay, I just feel like I'm coming down with something. I don't know. I'll be all right.

Hope: Hey, are you sure?

Ciara: I'm good. I just got to go to school.

Hope: Okay. Before you go, sweetie, can I just talk to you for a second? Please, let's sit down for a moment.

Ciara: Okay.

Hope: Honey, I know that... some really heartbreaking, awful things have happened lately. And it's been very painful for you. Maybe I'm repeating myself, but it bears repeating, and I just... baby, I need you to know that I love you with all of my heart. I'm here for you, 100%--you're my priority. You are the most important thing. Nothing else matters in this world but you.

Ciara: Oh, Mom. [Sniffles] You're so great, really. I just feel like I keep messing up.

Hope: No, baby, honey... you've had terrible things happen to you. And you know what? You have made it through stronger every time. Ciara, I couldn't be more proud of you. Baby, what is it?

Ciara: Mom, there's something I--I got to tell you. I... Mom, I...

Hope: Sweetheart, it's okay. Take your time.

Ciara: I... I need to tell you that... hey, if anyone's the strong one here, it's you. I mean, seriously, people try to hurt you, and you don't let them. You fight and you win, and I just wish I could've been strong like that.

Hope: I think you and I both know that my tough-as-nails pose is just for the bad guys. When you're a cop, you learn not to show emotion.

Ciara: Yeah.

Hope: Or weakness. Hey, speaking... of that, I was thinking that possibly... going back to the force. It's not definite. It's just a possibility but what do you think about it?

Ciara: I think you love being a cop, and it's a great idea.

Hope: You sure you're okay?

Ciara: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Maybe you're coming down with something, honey.

[Knocking at door]

Ciara: Claire's here. I'll be all right, okay?

Hope: Okay.

Ciara: Hey.

Claire: You ready?

Hope: Hey, sweetheart.

Claire: Hey.

Hope: Hi. Have a great day.

Hope: Have a good day, sweetie. Love you.

Ciara: See you.

Hope: Bye.

Claire: What's the matter?

Ciara: Nothing.

Claire: You're kidding, right?

Ciara: No. I'm fine.

Claire: Look, Ciara, no offense, but you look like you didn't sleep at all. And the way you were acting at that party... come on, it's time. What's wrong?

Ciara: Nothing.

Claire: You know, maybe you can fool your mom... and whatever it is, it's obviously making you crazy. Okay? So just get it out. We can deal with it together.

Ciara: Okay, just... not here. Come on.

Chase: It's not a good time, huh? You sold the house? Wow, yeah, super fast. No, it's fine. Stuff happens. Okay, well, uh, you take care. It was nice talking to you. Okay. Bye. Now what the hell am I supposed to do? And where the hell is André?

Deimos: Good morning.

Maggie: Morning. Good-bye.

Deimos: [Laughs] Well, I guess Victor's given you your marching orders where it comes to me, huh?

Maggie: My hus-- I am curious about something. I can certainly understand how spending 30 years in prison must have given you a terrible feeling of waste. But just because Victor-- my husband, your brother-- used that same time to build a wonderful life for himself and his family-- why are you so determined to hurt him?

Deimos: Oh, my God. He hasn't told you the truth, has he?

Victor: Her name was Helena. Beautiful girl. Sweet, smart, long black hair, blue eyes that literally glowed. And then the night before we were to be married, Deimos seduced her. Then he came to me and spit it in my face.

Caroline: Well--well, Victor, maybe this is more difficult to talk about than I realized it was, so if you--

Victor: No. I want to explain. Next morning, I saw her standing on a hillside overlooking the Aegean. I confronted her. She admitted it. We fought. She fell, hitting her head on a rock as she tumbled down.

Caroline: Oh, my God.

Victor: When the police and I found her body, Deimos was standing right next to her, blood on his hands. Had a note from her in his pocket saying that she never wanted to see him again. Police arrested him for murder. He got life, commuted after 30 years. That's it. You know, this is the first time I've ever told anyone the whole story.

Caroline: Well, is-- is that the whole story?

Victor: What do you mean?

Caroline: Victor, I have to ask... you were angry, I mean, you were jealous. She betrayed you.

Victor: Yes?

Caroline: Well, I just have-- have to ask you: Did you murder her and let your brother be convicted?

Maggie: What truth hasn't my husband told me?

Deimos: Oh, my brother. Unbelievable. He's spun so many lies about me for so long. He probably believes them himself.

Maggie: What lies?

Deimos: I'll tell you what. I'll let him explain it to you himself. Have a good day.

Victor: No, no, there w-- there was no murder. It was an accident. She was kicking the ground, furious with me for cancelling the wedding, angry at herself for being so weak, and then she--she just stumbled. I reached to catch her and she pulled her hand away, and that's it. She was gone. I mean, I was horrified. And then, when Deimos was arrested, well, quite frankly, after what he had done, I thought it was a perfect punishment. Is there anything else you'd like to know?

Caroline: Have you told Maggie yet?

Victor: No. I didn't want her to hate me.

Caroline: Oh, Victor, it's all right for your brother to hate you all these years?

Victor: He was a son of a bitch then. He's a son of a bitch now. Let him.

Caroline: Even if it causes you all this stress?

Victor: I can handle anything that Deimos throws my way. Oh, he'll keep coming after me, but always at an angle.

Caroline: What does that mean?

Victor: It means that he's not man enough to come at me face-to-face. He'll keep going after the people that I love.

Belle: Philip, what I want is to build a life. You know, a real one where I can be there for my daughter and make her happy, and--

Philip: And to hell with me.

Belle: I didn't say that.

Philip: Okay. A life without me.

Belle: [Sighs] Philip, I just...

Philip: Last night, you were happy, having fun, totally letting go. So was I. Then the sun comes up, and you decide-- I mean, what the hell? Who am I to you? Just some friend with benefits? Help me out here, will you? How do you really feel about me?

Claire: Ciara, come on. You know that I won't tell anyone. I'm the best there is at keeping secrets--my mom and dad literally both say that I'm like a sphinx. So let's hear it. Ciara, you're gonna go crazy if you don't get it out.

Ciara: Okay, yeah. So, what happened was... I want you to stop.

Chase: No, you don't. Don't. This is what you want.

[Ciara gasps]

Chase: This is what we both want. I love you.

Claire: Ciara, come on!

Ciara: [Sobs] I-- we got to get to school.

Claire: Ciara! Jeez. Hey, come on. Ciara, stop.

Ciara: Don't touch me. You. What are you still doing here? You're supposed to be gone?

Chase: Yeah, I was going to. Look, Ciara, I'm--

Claire: Ciara!

Chase: Oh, man.

Claire: Hey, no, you are not going anywhere. Not until you tell me exactly what's going on.

Caroline: Victor, please, remember what I said about too much stress. She's not worth it.

Maggie: Hi.

Caroline: Hi.

Maggie: Hi, Caroline. How are you?

Caroline: I'm fine. How are you?

Maggie: Good.

Caroline: Oh, you look lovely. Well, you always do. Well-- I got to go. I'm on the run.

Victor: Take care.

Caroline: Okay, bye.

Maggie: Good to see you again.

Caroline: You too.

Maggie: What was that all about?

Victor: Why don't we sit down?

Maggie: Oh. [Clears throat] Is this gonna be about Deimos?

Victor: [Sighs]

Maggie: I ran into him at the square. He said you're keeping something from me.

Victor: Well, for once, he's not lying.

Maggie: Is it about what happened all those years ago?

Victor: It started the day before my wedding. Told you this before, but there's quite a bit that I left out.

Philip: Okay, you couldn't go another minute without coffee. You made some. Now what? Do I get an answer?

Belle: We agreed not to put labels on things, remember? How we feel about each other isn't really something we should be discussing.

Philip: Why the hell not?

Belle: [Laughing] Because. We agreed.

Philip: No, actually, you agreed. I just kind of said, "okay." I do want to talk about how we feel.

Belle: Well, then you should go over to that mirror right there, look at yourself, 'cause that's the only person who's gonna be answering you.

Philip: Come on. We both have had affairs, one-night stands, whatever. That's not what I want with you. I want... I need more. I don't want something casual. I don't want to be with anybody else, and I don't want you to be with anybody else. So, do I get what I want?

Claire: Did you do something to hurt Ciara?

Chase: What makes you ask that?

Claire: Because she's in a really bad place. And she was, like, totally freaked out when she saw you.

Chase: No. Did she say anything about me?

Claire: No, she's just really messed up right now. Listen, we should all try to help her, you know? Maybe you and I could sort of team up.

Chase: I--I can't. Look, I have to go.

Claire: Chase, wait! Do you want to maybe hang out later?

Chase: I--I can't. I'm leaving town.

Claire: Wait, what?

Chase: Yeah, I'm gonna go live in Chicago with my aunt.

Claire: For good?

Chase: Yeah, for good. You know, living here isn't really working for me anymore.

Claire: Okay, well, if this is your last day, can't we at least go have coffee or something?

Chase: Okay, look, Claire, I--

Claire: Okay, chase, I'm just gonna say it. Are you still hung up on Ciara? Is that it?

Chase: Okay, no. No, it's not. 'Cause she doesn't even want me around anymore, which is fine. Okay, look... in fact, if you want to hang out, let's do it. You and me. I'll text you.

Claire: Okay.

Chase: Okay?

Claire: Yeah, great. We'll have lots of fun. Right now, though, I got to see if I can go catch up with Ciara.

Chase: Okay.

Claire: See you later.

Theo: Hey, hold on. Hold on, wait.

Chase: Oh, my God.

Theo: No, no, no. What did you do to Ciara?

Chase: Okay, look, if everybody wants to know what's up with Ciara, why don't they ask her? Why the hell would I know? I haven't seen her in a while, and then she practically knocks me over a moment ago.

Theo: Coward.

Chase: What?

Theo: I said you're a coward. You're a liar too. You try and bully me with texts? And look, I know you did something to Ciara, and trust me, trust me, when I figure it out, I'm--

Chase: Okay, look, I am so glad I am going to leave tomorrow so I don't have to deal with you guys and all you stuff and your paranoia and your dumb questions.

Claire: Hey. The door was partway open. When I saw which way you were headed, I figured you were gonna bail on school. Chase is leaving town. He's moving to Chicago.

Ciara: Good.

Claire: Ciara, why are you so down on him? I know you've been going through a really rough time lately. So has he, you know?

Ciara: What?

Claire: Come on, you know how I feel about him. I was kind of hoping that I could talk him into staying in Salem. We're gonna meet up later, hang out.

Ciara: Don't you dare go meet that piece of-- don't meet him anywhere, okay? He's insane. He is just like his dad. He's--he's dangerous.

Claire: Ciara, what are you-- oh, my... where is all this coming from? What did he ever even do to you? Ciara, come on, okay? Don't run away from me. Just talk to me, okay? What did he do? Did he say something? I mean, maybe you just misunderstood, you know? He's actually kind of sweet. Sexy, too. Ciara? Why do you get so upset just talking about him? Did he do something? Hurt you? Answer me, please. Okay, so... the fact that you're not denying it means he did hurt you.

Ciara: Chase, stop. I want you to stop.

Chase: No, you don't. Don't. This is what you want.

[Ciara gasps]

Chase: This is what we both want. I love you.

Claire: Oh, my God. The look on your face. Did he hit you? Is that what he did? Oh, my God. No, no, that can't be it. Can't be. But it is, isn't it? Ciara? Did he rape you? Oh, my God.

[Ciara crying]

Belle: Philip, I've-- I've made myself clear on this more than once.

Philip: But you keep changing your mind.

Belle: No, I don't. I just sometimes like to be with you.

Philip: Like last night?

Belle: Yeah, like last night. But it doesn't mean that I'm ready for a commitment, okay? labels. I'm me, you're you, and sometimes we hook up.

Philip: But I'm a Kiriakis, remember? I like to get what I want.

Belle: Yeah.

Philip: Hey. I know you're afraid. But we've got history, chemistry. There's no denying that, right? I like the way we feel with each other. My guess is, you feel the same way.

[Sentimental music]

Victor: Of course, he deserved to be punished. Her death was an accident, but what he did set it all in motion. I'll never regret that I kept my mouth shut and watched that bastard get what he deserved.

Maggie: And you never thought to tell me about it?

Victor: I am not afraid of many things, but I thought if I told you, I might lose you.

Maggie: So, you hoped it-- it would stay buried?

Victor: And it did, until Deimos wormed his way out of prison and decided to come make my life a living hell. Turned Philip against me, and then came and laughed in my face about it. Same thing, all over again.

Maggie: And, apparently, I'm next on his list.

Victor: Yes. But it's gonna stop. Right now.

Maggie: Victor, come back here. Victor, for heaven's sakes.

Claire: Are you sure? Sorry, it wasn't that you guys were making out and it just went too far?

Ciara: No. God, no. How could you even say that? Why would I call it rape if that's what it was? I'm not an idiot, Claire.

Claire: I know. I'm sorry.

Ciara: I kept saying no. No, no!

Claire: That's horrible. I'm shocked. Have you... told your mom?

Ciara: No. I'm too ashamed.

Claire: Ashamed? Ciara, this is not your fault. This is on him.

Ciara: I know. But it makes me sick to have anyone know, especially my mom. She'd be disgusted and horrified. And she'd picture it. Just like you are now.

Claire: No, God, I'm not. I swear. I'm just feeling so bad for you, and so worried. Have you gone to the hospital? Gotten checked out?

Ciara: No, it's too late.

Claire: God, I mean, I really hate to bring this up. I mean, what if he gave you an std? Or what if you're pregnant? I mean, you're-- you're probably not, and I don't mean to scare you or make you feel any worse than you do. I just-- you know, just to be sure. You can tell with just a blood test, so...

Ciara: I'm not going to the hospital. Okay? No one would believe me, anyway.

Claire: Ciara, why would you say that? I do, and your mom definitely would. You should really tell her.

Ciara: I can't. I just can't, okay? So please don't tell anyone.

Claire: Yeah, sure. Of course not. It's up to you to tell her and anyone else. But what are you gonna do?

Ciara: I don't know. I hope that one day, this horrible memory will stop making me feel so sick and really, really angry. That one day... I just don't think about it anymore.

[Knocking at door]

Claire: I'll take care of it.

[Soft piano music]

[Door shutting]

Theo: Hey. Came to see if you're okay.

Ciara: I-- I'm not feeling well. Think I might have the flu. That's why I didn't go to school.

Theo: Do you want me to get you something from the store? You know, just tell me what you need, and I'll go get it for you.

Ciara: No, it's okay. Thanks. Hey, listen, about the party. I'm really sorry. I'm just going through a lot of stuff right now. I should probably just be alone.

Theo: What's going on? Look, Ciara, whatever it is, I'm your friend, okay? You can--

Hope: Whoa, hey. My goodness. I thought you kids went to school. What--what's wrong? What's going on here?

Ciara: I started feeling a little worse, so I came home, and they just wanted to make sure I was all right.

Hope: All right, well, first things first. Let's get you comfortable, sweetheart. Theo, Claire, you need to get to school.

Theo: Right.

Claire: Hey, yeah, um, take care, Ciara.

Theo: Text me.

Ciara: Later. Thanks.

Theo: I'm not going to school. She's in trouble.

Hope: Don't you think you should tell me what's really going on here? You're not this upset because you're not feeling well. Ciara, I love you.

Ciara: Mom, I'm just feeling weird and achy, you know? I think I should just go back to bed for a little while.

Shawn: Seriously?

Rafe: That's what your mom said, she was coming back to the force.

Shawn: Oh, that's great. She's an amazing detective. I mean, she loves it too. You're cool with that, right?

Rafe: Yeah, of course.

[Dramatic music]

Belle: Philip, please, I-- I don't like being put on the spot like this. Let's just keep things easy, okay? No strings.

Philip: How the hell am I gonna do that? When I know in here what I really want.

Belle: I'm not gonna let you push me into something. Why can't we just work on being happy?

Philip: Man, there is no way I'm gonna change your mind, is there? Because you haven't a clue what you really want. Fair warning, belle, until you figure that out, you're never gonna be happy.

[Door opening]

Victor: Pack your bags, Deimos. You're on the next plane.

Deimos: Oh, really? And where might I be going?

Victor: Hell, as far as I'm concerned. But far away from Salem.

Deimos: And why is that, big brother? Because you've been lying to everyone in your family all these years, and now the truth is finally starting to come out? I'll tell you what. Why don't we give it another month. Maybe two. Let's see if you're still the beloved old patriarch everyone thought you were.

Victor: You really think you can turn my family against me?

Deimos: I mean, there is the matter of your son, right? And then there's dear, sweet, Maggie. Now, I'm assuming she had some questions for you today. Am I right?

Kostas: Fight me, and I break them both. Then your spine.

Victor: Don't worry, Kostas, he won't fight. He's stupid, but not that stupid.

[Dramatic music]

(Music plays)

Chase: Come on, Claire. Where are you?

Claire: No, we just need to let her be alone for a little while.

Theo: She's really sad. Something's wrong.

[Phone beeps]

Theo: Why won't you-- why won't you tell me?

Claire: Tell you what?

Theo: You know why Ciara's messed up, don't you?

Ciara: Yeah, but I just have no idea how to help her.

[Ciara crying, gasping]

[Dramatic music]

[Deimos groaning]

Victor: You make a deal with the devil, you need to bear the mark. Now you do.

[Dramatic music]
