Victor: Why the hell didn't you stop this?
Philip: Stop... oh, the Wilmington thing.
Victor: We partner with Wilmington all the time, and they're taken over by our biggest competitor? Why didn't you do something?
Philip: Dad, I-I'm sorry. I've been distracted lately.
Victor: Oh, let me guess. Some damn woman.
Philip: No, I--
Henderson: Your brother, sir.
Victor: What? The hell are you doing here?
Deimos: Well, hello, Philip.
Victor: What the hell is going on?
Abigail: He's asleep.
Chad: Good. Look at the shots I got of us at the park today.
Abigail: Oh, my God. He is so cute. I can't even--
Chad: Yeah, he's perfect.
Abigail: What are you thinking?
Chad: Just that every time I look at him, you know, I just... I think that I have to do everything, you know, for the rest of my life to make sure that he's happy. And that's my son.
[Bluesy lounge music playing]
Eduardo: Something wrong?
Eduardo: Good. I just opened this bottle. It's my favorite vintage. It's not just because it tastes great; it's got a nice finish, but it--it's something I discovered during the worst year of my life. And it always serves to remind me that amazing things can happen.
Eduardo: If you're patient and, uh, willing to change. Want a taste?
Shall I get another glass?
André: Why, hope. You seem quite surprised. Didn't I tell you that you'd have to pay for it? Well, look closely, because this is just the beginning.
Hope: [Exhales deeply]
Ciara: Uh, mom?
Hope: Hey, hi, sweetheart.
Ciara: You yelled out. Are you okay?
Hope: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry. I, um--I guess I... fell asleep. Bad dream.
André: Well, here you are. I hope you like it.
Chase: Thank you. It's good. Oh, you got a little, uh--
André: Oh, oh, sorry. Thank you. Ooh. Yeah, it's interesting. Most people... when the see me, they just turn away, but you're not even frightened or... even slightly repulsed?
André: Huh. Well, I'm gonna make an assumption. I think that you in your young age have had your share of darkness. Do you know who I am?
Chase: Yeah. You're André DiMera. Hope says you want to hurt us all.
Chad: I just want to make sure he always has the best.
Abigail: Always. [Laughs softly]
Chad: Including a great place to live.
Abigail: [Clears throat]
Chad: I-I know you're not sold on the house.
Abigail: You--what I'm not sold on is André letting you throw him out or your father just never coming back.
Chad: Okay, but once I get things right with the bank, the place will be ours. André and Stefano, they're not gonna have any part in it. It doesn't matter what they-- what they say or any of their-- can we just not talk about my family? Talk about ours?
Shawn: Look, belle, buying an expensive ring like that and then getting all defensive about how you can afford it is--
Belle: I am a lawyer. I have high-paying clients.
Shawn: What? For how long? What, like, two seconds? You--no--you haven't even been in Salem long enough.
Belle: There it is. I'm obviously not capable enough to make the big bucks, right?
Shawn: No, I never said that.
Belle: You know what? Your admiration and support have always meant so much to me, Shawn.
Shawn: Oh, give me a break.
Shawn: I support you, all right, I admire you, and I love you. And I've made it perfectly clear that I want to give us another shot.
Belle: Right, because Claire wants it.
Shawn: So do I.
Belle: Okay. So you criticize me and belittle my ability to make a living.
Shawn: Belle, I am just concerned about you, about the choices that you are making. Look, if you have done something... if you've--if you've crossed a line... please let me help you.
André: Do you think what hope thinks? That I'm going to, uh, hurt you all?
Chase: Are you?
André: Of course not.
Chase: You know, before my dad died, he told me to stay away from you.
André: Well, I am DiMera. Bad news. [Chuckles] But was it good food?
Chase: Yeah, I said thank you, right?
André: Yes, yes, yes. You know, I'm curious. I always thought that hope was, well, disciplined, that she'd probably give an early curfew to her children.
Chase: I'm not exactly her child. I just kind of live there for now.
André: I get the feeling that, uh, you're not happy with the arrangement.
Chase: She just has a lot of rules. She has guards watching the house.
André: Oh. You gave them the slip.
Chase: You can just say that I managed to get out of there.
André: [Laughs] You and I... we have something in common.
André: We don't like to be told how to behave. Oh.
Ciara: So, uh, what was your bad dream about?
Hope: You know what? I don't remember.
Ciara: All right. Come on, mom, you have to learn how to be a better liar than that. Oh, uh, something I should probably tell you about.
Ciara: Okay, get ready for this 'cause I sure wasn't. Theo decided that he's really into me.
Ciara: Yeah, I know. I was trying to talk to him about chase, and it all kind of just came out.
Hope: How do you feel about that?
Ciara: Weird. I mean, I've known Theo my whole life, and I really like him. I think he's really cute. But he's my friend.
Hope: Maybe more than a friend?
André: Must be difficult living there every day at Bo's house-- man who killed your father-- and hope, your stepmother, ordering you about.
Chase: It's okay sometimes. Other times, I hate it.
André: I can imagine. But there are days, of course, that it has its advantages. You get a chance to see the lovely Ciara every day. [Laughs] Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me.
Chase: It's not really a secret. She knows. She's probably blabbed to hope by now. But it doesn't matter. She'll never--
André: What? Love you back? You know, you never know. Things can change sometimes.
Chase: No. Not for me, anyway. I'm just like my dad. I can promise, and I can try really, really hard. But something happens and I hurt people.
Eduardo: So, uh... I imagine you're in touch with your mother?
Rafe: Yeah, she's in Mexico. Monterrey. Taking care of Tia Estrella.
Eduardo: Oh, yeah, yeah. I heard that she-- she's ill, yeah.
Eduardo: Listen, if, uh, she needs any financial assistance or--or your mother--
Rafe: I got it covered. I've been taking care of my family my whole life.
Eduardo: Yeah. Hey, look who's here.
Gabi: Oh, hey, you two.
Rafe: Hey, sis.
Gabi: Hey, I just got back from a shoot which I thought was gonna go all night, but--wait. The two of you are having wine together?
Eduardo: Oh, we are having so much fun. You want to join us?
Gabi: I was gonna get takeout, but yeah, actually. I don't mind pulling up a chair and having my meal here.
Eduardo: Please do.
Gabi: Thank you. Put it over there for me. Thank you. So you guys hungry?
Rafe: A little.
Eduardo: I'm--I'm very hungry.
Gabi: Good. A family meal.
Rafe: A family meal.
Victor: I'm waiting.
Philip: Dad, listen to me. Don't believe a word this son of a bitch says. Call security. Drag his ass out of here. We need to talk, just you and me.
Deimos: You don't honestly believe you're gonna be able to spin your way out of this, do you?
Philip: Shut your damn mouth.
Deimos: You can't change the facts, Philip. And the fact is, you lied to your father.
Victor: What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Philip: Dad, seriously. It's really complicated. We need to have some time--
Deimos: No, no, no. That's nonsense. It's really quite simple. You see, Victor, your son has been working for me, ever since you brought him home from Chicago.
Philip: Dad, he's lying. I came home because you called and said that you--
Deimos: I'm afraid that Philip was doing his usual with a rather unfortunate girl in Chicago. You see, she overdosed on heroin in his hotel room. And since she was--
Philip: I had no idea that she had drugs.
Deimos: Since she was the daughter of a police officer-- rather high up in the ranks, I might add-- I naturally stepped in to make sure that my nephew didn't suffer any consequences. That put you into my debt, didn't it, Philip? Which is why you eagerly agreed to come home and spy on your father. In essence, work for me.
Victor: Is that true?
Philip: Dad, the girl never--
Victor: I asked you a question. Is it true?
Belle: There you go again. How many times are you gonna insult me, Shawn? I mean, first I'm not capable of making the big bucks, and then I'm a thief.
Shawn: No, I never--
Belle: And now anything I do has to be because of some man. Well, you know what? Stop worrying about me because I'm fine. Meaning I'm fine without you, without your attitude and your advice or anything else. All right? Good night.
Lani: At least somebody on the force doesn't work 24-7. Want some company?
[Lounge music playing]
Eduardo: I was telling your brother that I love this wine because it reminds me of the worst year of my life, was the year that I walked away from you guys and a chance to-- so what--what could you tell me about Dario? You said he was in Argentina doing something important, right?
Gabi: Yeah, Dario, yeah. He was, uh, working for Titan industries, but I think he resigned. I don't know why.
Eduardo: So what if I were to reach out to him? You suppose that he'd be--
Rafe: I wouldn't.
Rafe: I wouldn't. I mean, you think I was mad when you left? I was a teenager. I could leave the house. He was stuck there looking after mama, picking up the pieces. You know?
Eduardo: Yeah, that was a bad idea.
Gabi: You know, guys, um, I forgot I totally have to check on the sitter. This is amazing. This is a really great dinner, though, so... I'll be right back, okay?
Rafe: All right, sis.
Eduardo: So everything all right with you?
Rafe: Yeah. Why?
Eduardo: Well, I just noticed when you--when you came in here, you didn't seem all right. You seemed like you were kind of...elsewhere. I mean, given that I spend most of my life sort of elsewhere, I just, you know, can't help wondering, you having trouble with a woman?
Ciara: Mom, it's more complicated than that.
Ciara: Because I don't even know if I want to date Theo or if I ever will. But if I wind up dating anybody, I'm gonna have to deal with chase.
Hope: What do you mean, honey?
Ciara: Mom, he's really into me too. I mean, if I start dating anyone, it's gonna make things a lot worse for him.
André: Chase, I think you're just being too hard on yourself.
Chase: No, just facing facts. I hurt people.
André: Yeah, because that's because people hurt you.
Chase: Sort of.
André: Well, lashing out is only natural. You know, it takes a person with a strong will to fire back, and that's what I see in you. [Chuckles] Courageous.
Chase: Why are you being so nice to me?
André: Because as I said to you before, we have much in common. You know, when I was your age, I was alone. I-- I was misunderstood. I just wish I had somebody that I could talk to, somebody who could understand.
Chase: You never had that?
André: No. No, I didn't. That's why if you need someone that you want to confide in, someone who will not judge you, that person is me. Call me.
André: There. That is my private line. Use it, you know, if you feel alone and you need to talk to someone.
Chase: Thanks. It's, uh, good to have a friend, you know?
André: Of course. Anyway, I think you should be going, because detective Brady's gonna be sending out the cavalry soon.
André: Also, uh--
Chase: Thank you again for the food.
André: Oh, no, it's a pleasure. Remember, you know, hope Brady, she doesn't-- well, she hates me.
Chase: Right, she-- she won't know that we met up.
André: No. Good, good. Um, also, because we don't-- in case you and I ever want to meet again, also, please don't mention anything to Ciara because, well, you know, mothers and daughters, they like to talk.
Chase: Got it.
André: Yeah. Oh, and don't forget your backpack.
Chase: Right, thank you.
André: Yeah. [Sighs]
Eduardo: It's just an observation. I mean, you know, you see a guy that's got it all going on, yet he's out of sorts. I mean, what is that about? Right, I mean--
Eduardo: Yeah, why not?
Rafe: You're gonna give me advice about women?
Eduardo: Well, you know, I-I--
Rafe: Come on.
Eduardo: Well, I just-- you know, I have made more than my share of mistakes, so I was just thinking maybe I could, you know, be of some kind of belated service to you and help you kind of-- never mind. I shouldn't have--
Eduardo: I shouldn't have pushed it.
Rafe: No, no, no, no. Hey, it's okay. Appreciate the gesture. Food, the wine, you know, being here... together. But just so you know, what you want, it's-- it's still a hell of a long way off.
Philip: Dad, listen. Look, I--I am so sorry--
Victor: Get the hell out of my house. Next time I see you is gonna be at your funeral. Which may be sooner than you think.
Deimos: Hmm. Well, that's an interesting fantasy. But I agree with you, big brother. I should step out, give you a chance to deal with your little family problem. Go gentle on my nephew.
Philip: Finally I can explain without that bastard--
Victor: I don't want to hear your explanation. There is no explanation. I brought you here. I put you in charge of Titan, a business that I spent a lifetime building, and you betray me. You betray me.
Philip: Dad, I screwed up. But you got to understand I was in a terrible bind. The girl was totally--
Victor: This is-- there's no excuse. This is Philip following a pattern. Everything I've given you, you've thrown away over and over again. Well, no more. You're fired.
Philip: Dad, I--
Victor: That takes care of the business end. Now... where do we go from here, considering that you're my son? Well, another day, another time. We're done.
Philip: Dad, I love you.
Victor: Good for you. Get out.
[Saxophone lounge music]
Chad: Sorry, did I wake you?
Abigail: No. Was he hungry, really?
Chad: Yeah. Seemed to be. You seemed exhausted, so I just--I grabbed some expressed milk out of the fridge and warmed it up.
Abigail: I thought he wouldn't be hungry till, like, 5:00 or 6:00.
Chad: We're having some man-to-man time. Why don't you go back to sleep?
Lani: Anyway, I'm as happy as a clam about the promotion. I feel like I'm exactly where I want to be.
Shawn: Yeah, well, the job's the easy part. Just don't make the same mistake that I did. I buried myself in my work, and I never came up for air. And the price that I had to pay was--was my family.
Gabi: Well, apparently Arianna cannot go to sleep unless I sing her "buenas noches, Luna."
Gabi: I know.
Rafe: Come on.
Gabi: I'm having so much fun. I really enjoyed this dinner.
Gabi: And I-I really love it, guys, but I got to go.
Eduardo: Listen, I-I just-- I can't tell you how proud I am, kid, of you and what you're doing for your girl.
Gabi: Oh, thank you.
Gabi: Hey, I'll see you soon, okay?
Gabi: See you.
Rafe: Bye. I've actually got to get going too, so--
Eduardo: Yeah, me too, me too. This was good, though, right? This was good.
Rafe: Yeah, it was-- it was good. It was a good night.
Eduardo: Yeah, cool. Hey, you know, I'm just--I'm just gonna say this. I let what I thought was important, my job...
Eduardo: Ruin my life. So whoever it is that you're worried about, reach out. Don't wait.
Ciara: Three jacks.
Hope: I can't win for losing. [Laughs softly]
Ciara: What can I say? I'm at the top of my game.
Hope: Yes, you are.
Ciara: Except when it comes to guys. I mean, seriously, mom, when Theo told me that he liked me, I nearly fell over. I still don't know what I should say or what I should do.
Hope: Well, what I will say is, never do anything that doesn't feel completely right, honey. And you know what? Don't be afraid to wait and take your time.
Ciara: Sounds right. I'm sticking with these.
Hope: Again? I lost again?
Hope: Oh, my gosh.
Ciara: Flush, queen high.
Hope: My gosh. Amen we're not playing for money.
Ciara: Um, I think we are playing for money.
Ciara: Yeah, I won six rounds, $5 a round, so you owe me 30 bucks. [Laughs]
Hope: How'd I wind up with such an awesome, awesome daughter? I love you, sweetheart.
Ciara: I take after my mommy.
Hope: Yes, you do. Chase, what in the world? Where-- I thought you said he was upstairs asleep. He was. He fell asleep before I did.
Chase: Yeah, but then I went out.
Hope: To do what? Where? I recommend nature made vitamins.
Belle: What's wrong?
Philip: Listen, I'm--I'm sorry I took off on you earlier.
Belle: It's okay. Talk to me.
Philip: The thing is, I shot out of here because I had to get to my dad before my uncle so I could explain everything, but I was too late. My dad knows everything.
He hates me now.
Chad: Got to get you back to sleep, little man. How are we gonna do that? Want me to tell you a story? Hmm? Once upon a time, there was an evil king who lived in a dark, scary old castle along with his two sons. Now, one of the princes was trying his best to be a good man, but the other one, he was just as evil as the king, maybe worse. There came a time when the evil prince tried to bring his brother over to the dark side. The good prince fought and fought, trying not to follow him. And then something happened. Made it easy for him to win the battle against the evil prince. 'Cause he realized how much he loved the woman from the village because she gave him hope. So together they fought back against the evil prince and won. And to this day, he's happy, at peace, and so in love with her and their beautiful son.
Hope: Chase, what in God's name were you thinking?
Chase: I just wanted--
Hope: I've had hard-- wait, let me finish. I've had guards protecting you, and you just go out on your own?
Chase: I wanted some fresh air, okay?
Hope: No, it's not okay.
Chase: Look, nobody died. I'm fine. Why are you so upset?
Chase: Hey, you're not my mom. I don't need you worrying about me or telling me I need to be scared all the time. I could take care of myself. I'm here, I'm fine, so back off.
Ciara: Mom, it's okay. He just--he just needs some time alone. Look, I'll leave my door cracked to make sure he doesn't leave, but he probably won't do it again.
Hope: Well, he better not. Are you okay? Will you be able to get to sleep?
Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, I'm tired enough now. Yeah, I'm kind of beat after beating you at poker so much.
Ciara: But you seem kind of upset now. So why don't you call Rafe? He always seems to calm you down. Good night, mom.
Hope: Good night, baby. Sleep well.
You did this... you bitch. What you did to my family. I hope you're saying your prayers tonight, hope. Because you're gonna find out what hell is all about.
Belle: No... he's gonna come around.
Philip: Not this time. I bet this was Deimos' plan right from the start. He didn't just want to break me; he wanted to do it in front of my dad to hurt him too.
Belle: I think you're giving your uncle too much credit. Your father is gonna come around.
Philip: I saw that look in his eye. I'll see that look every day for the rest of my life.
Victor: [Sighs] I have a problem that I need to go away... permanently.
Victor: So you've come for revenge?
Deimos: No. I spent all those years in prison learning to forgive. I came to the realization that wanting vengeance was like a cancer just eating away at you.
Victor: How evolved of you.
Deimos: I want a chance to rebuild my life, and to do that, I need a job. Come on, brother of mine. You owe me that much, don't you think?
Victor: I think you should get out of my house. You are not welcome here.
Deimos: That's because I remind you of your past, but you can't escape your past, Victor. Don't you know that by now?
Victor: I do not need nor want a lecture from you. As far as I'm concerned, you're as dead to me as Alexander and Titus.
Deimos: Yeah, but the reality is, I'm not dead, Victor. I'm right here. And all the wishful thinking in the world isn't gonna change that fact. You know... looking at your pictures here, you have a lovely family.
Victor: You've been studying me.
Deimos: Of course I have. Your family is my family too. Doesn't matter that you want me gone, that you wish I never existed. I'm still blood, Victor. And just like your past, you can't erase family.
And so it begins.
Abigail: That was a beautiful story.
Chad: Oh, you were listening?
Abigail: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I was. Because I was listening and making a very important decision.
Chad: Yeah, what's that?
Abigail: I can't wait to marry you. Chad, I don't want to waste any more time waiting for my family, trying to convince them, or--or spending it planning some big, special day. Let's go somewhere. Let's go somewhere, just you and me and Thomas. Let's elope. Let's go to Paris just like you said, okay?
Abigail: I want to marry you as soon as I can.
Hope: Hey, um--
Hope: I just decided to come here and... just say it, okay?
Rafe: Okay. Say what?
Hope: This thing with us, if it's right, it is.
Rafe: Hmm? Hi, hi, hi, hi.
Lani: Hey, whatever you're reading, it'll wait till tomorrow, right?
Rafe: Yeah. Sure will. Okay.
Lani: All right. Uh, have a good night.
Rafe: Yeah, you too.
[Cell phone beeps]
Rafe: Yeah, tomorrow.
[Cell phone ringing]
