Eve: All right, Claire, I want you to go home, rest your voice, and whatever you do, no dairy until after the audition, okay?
Claire: Okay, got it.
Claire: Eve, um...
Claire: I don't even know how to thank you. I was ready to quit, but you wouldn't let me.
Eve: Well, that would have been a terrible shame, honey.
Claire: Yeah, I see people around me quitting and I do not want to be like them. So thank you so much for believing in me.
Eve: Okay. Oh! [Chuckles] Aww, Claire, honey, I'm the one that should be thanking you. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to feel useful again.
Claire: Yeah, well, I hope you can still come to new York for my audition. I mean, I know it's a lot to ask, but it would help me so much to have you there.
Eve: Well, of course I'm gonna be there. And you know what? We could even catch a show or two, you know, by the end of the week.
Claire: I'd love that.
Eve: It'd be great. You think about what you want to see and I'll just pick up the tickets tomorrow, okay?
Claire: Oh, no, no, no. I would not want you to pay--
Eve: No, I insist.
Claire: Thank you.
Eve: You can thank me by having the time of your life, okay?
Claire: Okay, I already know that I will. Okay, see you soon.
Eve: All righty.
Belle: I asked you nicely before and now I'm telling you. You've overstepped your boundaries with my daughter. That stops now.
Theresa: Whew! Sorry. When I suggested we work here, I didn't know Tate was gonna have the most epic meltdown of all time.
Nicole: I miss Parker so much that even a screaming kid is adorable to me. And it's not like we can just go to basic black and hash out our plan to leave basic black, so...
Theresa: Yeah. Listen, Nicole. I need to be up front about something. I'm gonna need a lot of flexibility to work from home. I mean, 'cause Brady's got to take his meds every two hours and--
Nicole: I understand. I mean, Daniel would have wanted... [Sighs]
Nicole: It's okay. I'm okay.
Theresa: No, no, you're not.
Nicole: You're right. I'm not.
Theresa: It's too much. It's too much too soon.
Nicole: No, no, no. With the apartment being so empty, it's just--you have no idea how much it helps to have something else to focus on.
Theresa: Okay. You sure?
Nicole: I'm sure.
Nicole: Okay, so when are we gonna tell Brady about our plans? We can't get anything off the ground if we don't have--
Theresa: Oh, actually, Nicole, I've been thinking about it a lot and I don't think that's a good idea.
Ava: When I look at you, I almost believe I can trust you again. The truth is there's nothing you can say that will convince me.
Steve: You're right. Words alone don't mean anything, do they?
Ava: No. No, they don't.
Steve: Then I'll show you. Oh, .Ok I have to admit, you're damned hard to resist. And there's no reason for us to be enemies, Ava. Let Kayla go and there's nothing else standing between us. I want us to work together to find our son. Isn't that what you want too?
Shawn: Uncle Roman, you-- you okay?
Roman: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.
Shawn: I, um, heard about Eric. I'm sorry.
Roman: Thank you. Appreciate that, Shawn. Um, if you're here to see him, he was released on bond.
Shawn: Yeah, yeah, I know. Definitely. I want to see him, but, um, actually I came here to talk to you about something else.
Roman: What's that?
Shawn: Well, I, uh, I moved back to Salem. And I'm looking for a job.
Eve: I already apologized for arranging the audition without your permission, but now that Claire is going ahead with it, she needs to prepare.
Belle: And she will. I'll find her a new vocal coach.
Eve: Where are you gonna do that? You'd have to go all the way to Chicago.
Belle: What, to find someone of your caliber? You run a community center program. You don't even sing anymore.
Eve: I gave Claire an opportunity of a lifetime with this audition at Juilliard, and if you've heard how she's progressed then-- well, she says that you're tone-deaf, so maybe you don't even actually know what a true talent your daughter really is.
Belle: Of course I do.
Eve: Well, then why do you want to pull her away from a relationship that's so important to her right now, belle? We have this rapport. It's so rare--
Belle: You've known each other for a few weeks. You don't have a relationship. So stop trying to pretend that this interest in my daughter is coming from the goodness of your heart.
Eve: Okay, so, what? What does that mean?
Belle: I am very sorry for your loss, eve. I am. And I realize that you have an unimaginable void to fill. But if you are trying to fill it with a surrogate daughter, you need to look somewhere else. Claire has a mother who loves her. She doesn't need you.
[Knock at door]
[Knock at door]
Kate: It's--it's Kate. Is everything all right?
Nicole: If you're feeling overwhelmed--
Theresa: Well, yeah, I am a little bit. But mainly I just don't feel comfortable asking Brady to bankroll our start-up.
Nicole: Why not?
Theresa: Well, 'cause he's not working right now, and, Nicole, I don't know if he's ever gonna work again. And honestly I just-- I just don't want to stress him out right now, okay?
Nicole: Theresa, how else are we supposed to get our company off the ground?
Theresa: Uh, well, if Kate agrees to buy us out, then we can just use that cash to, you know, to start from scratch.
Nicole: No, it's not enough.
Theresa: Well, then we'll get loans.
Nicole: That's not risky.
Theresa: Well, I don't want to be overly ambitious, Nicole. I mean, if I've learned anything from the last few weeks it's that there's a lot to lose, and I-- I'm so sorry. No, I'm--
Nicole: It's okay.
Nicole: You're worried about Brady. I am too. And it's comforting to know that Daniel's heart is still beating in his chest. And if anything ever happened to him, honestly, I think I would die.
Ava: How desperate do you think I am? Hmm? Yesterday, you hated me, and now I'm supposed to believe that you want me?
Steve: We made a child together, Ava. How could I hate you?
Ava: Yeah, but you know what? You're still all about Kayla. Yeah, "tell me where Kayla is." That's all you really want.
Steve: Yeah, I'm loyal to my family. But you know what? That child out there is my family too. And that means so are you.
Ava: Well, then I should be able to ask for more than one half-assed kiss. That did not earn my trust. There's only one thing you could do now that would.
Steve: What's that?
Ava: You make love to me now and then I'll tell you where your precious wife is.
Eve: I'm not-- I'm not trying to take your daughter away from you, belle. I'm just trying to put one foot in front of the other to get through my day.
Belle: Mm-hmm. So are we all.
Eve: You have no idea what I'm going through, and, um, you know, I pray to God that you never do. But you can't blame me if your daughter is feeling neglected.
Belle: How dare you.
Eve: Those are her words, not mine. She knows that you chose a fling in Las Vegas over spending the weekend with her.
Belle: That is none of your business.
Eve: Look, she needs somebody to talk to. She confided in me--
Belle: You don't know anything about my daughter or what she needs. And speaking of flings, I don't need to take parenting advice from "Mommie dearest." After what you did to Paige, you have no business working with impressionable teenagers. So stop trying to use Claire to make up for what you did with your own daughter.
Eve: I learned... the hardest way possible that blaming other people for your failings as a mother will only push your daughter further away from you. And I hope that you never, ever have to have the kind of regrets that I do.
Eduardo: Uh, just give-- give me--give me a second. Hey. Hi.
Kate: Is everything okay?
Eduardo: Yeah, everything's fine. I'm, uh--I'm good. Are you--are you okay? Everything okay with you?
Kate: Yeah. No, I was just-- you know, I was gonna ask if you wanted to get a drink, but obviously this probably isn't the right time. So I will let you get back--
Eduardo: No, no. No, I would love to get a drink. You know, I just--I got to-- I got to clean up for a second, so give me 20 minutes. I'll meet you at club TBD.
Eduardo: Really, yeah. I would love to do that. It'll be the highlight of my day, believe me.
Kate: Okay, okay. I look forward to it then.
Eduardo: Great. See you there.
Steve: Baby, I'm all yours... but not here, not now.
Ava: Why not?
Steve: Joe could come home soon.
Ava: Aren't I worth a few minutes of your valuable time?
Steve: Don't you want more than that?
Ava: Anything would be better than the nothing you're giving me now.
Steve: Tell me where Kayla is and I'm all yours.
Ava: Oh, I guess we are at another impasse. See, here's the deal. I have something that you need, or at least you think you do, and you only have something that I want. So who do you think is gonna win? Although you could try cuffing me again.
Steve: Ava, please. Just tell me where Kayla is and I'll do anything you want.
Ava: Sure. I will, but I get what I want first. So here's how you can keep me honest. I still need your help finding my son, so I'm not gonna screw you over. Figuratively at least. You give me a piece of this, hmm, and I will be happy to tell you where Kayla is. And then you're gonna come with me to find our son... or I'm gonna tell Kayla what you did. So do we have a deal? Hmm?
Kayla: [Grunts] Oh, what? Help! Hello? Somebody! Anybody! Help! Hello?
Roman: Well, okay. I, uh, just talked to the head of CSI. You're hired.
Shawn: Wow. [Stammers] I mean, that was fast.
Roman: And just so you know, it was entirely on the merits of your credentials. I didn't even tell 'em your last name till the decision was made.
Shawn: Wow, that's-- I really appreciate that. I promise you are not gonna be disappointed.
Roman: Well, I'm just glad you're sticking around. It'll be a huge help to your mom. And I hope this means that, uh, things are going better between you and belle.
Claire: What was going on between you and eve? Just please don't tell me you changed your mind about letting me go to the audition.
Claire: Okay, then what's wrong?
Belle: Honey, you are so talented as a singer, as a student. I mean, you're great at so many things.
Claire: Mom, I know you don't want me to try for a career in music, but it's what I want--
Belle: No, I actually think this is the time for you to follow your dreams. You know your father and I support you 100%, right?
Claire: Uh, I guess.
Belle: Good. So I was thinking, you know, eve doesn't really have much experience teaching, so if you're really serious about this, I think it would be a really great idea for us to find someone else who might--
Claire: Wait, no.
Claire: Mom, why don't you like her?
Belle: It's not that I don't like her. It's that...your father and I don't think that she should be overly involved in your personal life.
Claire: Well, she's not. But wow. You and dad actually agree on something?
Belle: We agree on plenty of things.
Claire: Does that mean there's a chance you guys might actually get back together?
Eduardo: Only the student can defeat the master. Hmm. Not sure anyone can call you the master anymore. Not after what happened in new Orleans with John. If you were looking for redemption here, you've failed.
Vadim: They'll kill me for my incompetence. You might as well just do me in now.
Eduardo: I got a better idea. You're gonna run away, Vadim. Run away and disappear. You're gonna put all of this insanity behind you just like I have. If you don't, if you come near John or his family or me and mine, I will kill you.
Vadim: You will never see me again.
Eduardo: Well, that had better be true. I'm gonna just make-- I'm gonna make sure all the right people know who you are and what you look like.
[Camera shutter snaps]
Eduardo: You will no longer be able to hide. Do you feel me?
Vadim: I do.
Eduardo: Get up. Get up. Now get out.
Joey: Oh, my God!
Belle: Honey, your father and I are talking, and that's a good thing. I just don't want you to get your hopes up.
Claire: Why? Dad says that he wishes he hadn't filed for divorce and that he wants to work things out with you. Isn't that exactly what you want?
Belle: I don't know.
Claire: Mom, you're the one who cheated. And dad forgives you and now you don't even want to try?
Belle: No, I didn't say that.
Claire: But you're not trying.
Belle: I just don't want to rush into anything, okay? That's all.
Claire: You were fine rushing into things with Philip. God, you're just tearing this family apart all over again, and I can't even stand to look at you anymore!
Theresa: Brady, oh, my God. Hey, what are you doing up?
Brady: It's okay. I guess 12 hours of sleep before dinnertime was good enough. It's good to see you.
Theresa: Yeah, Nicole was nice enough to let us work here while you and Tate were asleep.
Brady: Oh, you're-- you're working?
Nicole: I could use the distraction. And I was--I was hoping to see you. You look great.
Brady: Thank you. Kind of feel like I got hit by a moped instead of a Mack truck, so that's progress, right?
Nicole: Well, if you don't want company, I can go.
Brady: No, no, no, no. Stay. Question though. Where's Kate?
Brady: Ladies? What's going on?
Nicole: Theresa and I were working on a plan.
Theresa: [Chuckles] Scary as that sounds.
Nicole: We were hoping to convince Kate to buy us out. And after the basic black launch went so well, we are pretty sure that she will jump on the offer.
Brady: This was your dream though. Are you giving up?
Nicole: We both decided that life is too short to put up with Kate's crap.
Theresa: Yeah, so we're gonna start our own company. I mean, we've got a lot to iron out. We don't even have a name yet, so...
Nicole: Actually, uh, I have one in mind. I'd like to call the company... DJ wear.
Theresa: [Laughs] Awesome. Um, but if we plan on broadening our appeal larger than the techno crowd, then I--
Brady: It stands for "Daniel Jonas." And I think it's perfect.
Joey: Oh, my God.
Steve: Joe, Joe, Joe--
Joey: I can't even.
Steve: Come on, Joe.
Joey: I'm gonna puke!
Steve: No, no! Joe, wait! Wait!
Ava: Oh, stop. Don't worry. He's gonna be fine. He's a big boy. Kayla, on the other hand... okay, so now let's finish what we started, huh? Hmm. [Gasps]
Steve: Let's not.
Ava: [Gasping] This is a Labrador retriever.
Nicole: Brady, I know that basic black was your dad's baby, and I don't want to do anyone a disservice here.
Brady: He--he sold the company. He's not looking back and neither am I. Honestly, I'm just really glad to see you two working together so well.
Nicole: Well, um, yeah, we sort had a disagreement. We need capital and I was hoping that you would want to invest as an equal partner.
Brady: I'm in. I'm in. One condition.
Nicole: Okay? Which is?
Brady: A percentage of the proceeds will go straight to charity. Whatever Daniel...
Nicole: Would have wanted.
Brady: Would have wanted.
Nicole: Thank you.
Steve: Now if you don't tell me where Kayla is right now, I will kill you! I will!
Ava: Do it, do it, do it! I'm already dead. But just remember. If I go, so does she. [Gasps]
Kayla: Help! Please! Someone help me! Help! Oh, God! Help me! Help. Help. Please.
Kate: Well, I really don't understand why this couldn't wait till tomorrow because I can only give you five minutes.
Nicole: Oh, well, that's all we need.
Theresa: Look, our launch was a huge success on new year's eve, but all of our momentum was stopped cold by, uh, well, the tragic events of that night.
Nicole: Which made me realize I have no patience to deal with your negativity.
Theresa: And you hate my designs, so why should I stick around where I'm not wanted?
Kate: Are you quitting?
Nicole: No. We're offering you a chance for a buyout.
Kate: [Scoffs] At a really outrageous sum, I'm sure.
Nicole: No, no. Not at all.
Kate: Give me 24 hours and I will have the cash. And I will be thrilled to set you two free.
Nicole: Oh, not as thrilled as we are.
Eduardo: Hey, uh, so are you okay?
Eduardo: Uh, anything I can-- I can do?
Eve: No, no, no.
Eduardo: Things are going okay with the music program?
Eduardo: I've been getting great feedback.
Eduardo: Something's wrong with that, right? There's something wrong with the program, right?
Eve: Eddie, what is up with you, huh? We're married and you're never around, and then suddenly now you're in my face, you're concerned. It's like you're psychic or something.
Eduardo: Is it something I should know about?
Eve: No. No!
Eduardo: Okay. Okay, well, then I hope, uh-- I hope you find a way to work it out.
Eve: Eddie. Yeah, I...
Eduardo: Sit down.
Eve: I could--I could use your ear.
Eduardo: What's up, kid?
Eve: You know the girl that I was telling you about? Claire Brady?
Eve: She's phenomenal and she's a prodigy, and, well, I just feel like I could lose her.
Eve: Well, she's having issues with her mother, and her mother is blaming me for absolutely everything. I mean, she is so selfish, she's-- she's the way I used to be.
Eduardo: Well, sounds like that girl could use you in her life right now. I believe in second acts, right? I mean, we--we got to believe in that, don't you think?
Eve: I don't know.
Eduardo: You can't change what's done, but you can always learn from it, right? You can--you can move the hell beyond it. I mean, look at me. I'm--I'm the slowest and I'm getting there.
Eve: Yeah, you are.
Eduardo: So, you know, even if things don't work out with Claire, you got to remember that you're doing a lot of good. She's not the only kid in the program that you're helping. I mean, I mean, Paige... [Sighs] Paige would be really proud of you. And she definitely wouldn't want you to give up.
Eve: Thank you.
Eduardo: And thank you. I'm just glad I could help.
Belle: Oh, hi.
Shawn: Hey. What are you doing?
Belle: Uh, I was just thinking. I just ran into Claire. She's so excited about new York.
Shawn: Yeah. You, um... you remember the first time we took her there... and she said that she wanted to live there when she got older?
Belle: Hmm. I remember I was pulling for Tahiti.
Shawn: Yeah. And then we went back to the hotel and--and you cried when she said she no longer wants to buy a houseboat and live next door to us forever.
Belle: I don't think I was the only one who shed a few tears.
Belle: Anyway, now look at her. Pretty soon she won't need me at all anymore.
Shawn: She's always gonna need her mom.
Belle: Why, when she has eve? She tells her everything, Shawn. Personal, private things. About us. Anyway, I tried to convince her to get a new vocal coach, but she wouldn't even consider it.
Shawn: Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don't really think this music thing, this little program is gonna continue very much longer. I mean, my aunt Kim is the nicest person. She can get along with anyone. And if she can't get along with eve, then-- eve, she--she just gets under people's skin.
Belle: Yeah, well, she gets under mine. That's for sure. And I get under Claire's. You know, I can't even say the sky is blue without turning into a big argument.
Shawn: Well, you know what? We're always the hardest on the people we love the most. It's because we always assume that they're gonna be there, always.
Belle: You're right. I, uh, I should get going.
Shawn: Yeah. Whoa!
Belle: It's not a good idea.
Shawn: Why not?
Belle: I told you. I'm--I'm just not ready. I appreciate everything you said, but I'm not ready for this.
Shawn: All right. I'll see you later.
Belle: Hey, Philip. Uh, I'd love to meet you for a drink, but I actually have a lot of work to do. Uh, actually, you know what? Work can wait. Where do you want to meet?
Claire: Hey, thank you for meeting me again. I feel like I'm taking up all your time.
Eve: Claire, come on. I have all the time in the world. And anything you need, I'm there for you, okay?
Claire: Unlike my mom. Um, was she giving you a hard time earlier?
Eve: What do you mean?
Claire: Well, she asked me if I wanted a new voice teacher. Of course I said no, never.
Eve: And she was okay with that?
Claire: Well, she had to pretend like she was, but I feel like she doesn't mean anything she says anymore.
Eve: Hey, Claire, you know why your mother wants to keep you close, right?
Claire: Why? She barely has time for me.
Eve: Honey, you're her only daughter. You are her world, and letting go is so very, very hard. So she's not having second thoughts about you doing this audition, is she?
Claire: Oh, if she is, too bad. I don't care what she says. I'm going.
Eduardo: Hi. Sorry that I, uh... kept you waiting. Champagne? [Chuckles] Are we--we celebrating something?
Kate: I am.
Eduardo: What's that?
Kate: I am my own boss again. Finally. So... here's to me.
Eduardo: I'll drink to that.
[Both squeal and laugh]
Nicole: Oh, free at last!
Theresa: I know. We should toast.
Theresa: I'm so sorry. That would be so inappropriate.
Theresa: Well, you just buried your fiancÚ.
Nicole: Oh, Theresa. This venture is all about him. He would be so happy that we're doing this in his memory. Come on, it feels good. It feels right.
Theresa: Okay, then, yeah. All right.
Theresa: To better days ahead.
Nicole: Yes. Cheers. Mmm.
[Romantic R&B music]
Baby I was a fool for you and I know why you do the things you do
Ava: [Coughing] Oh, poor you. Aw, you were shamed in front of your boy, and you didn't even get any.
Steve: I don't want any. I can't stand the sight of you.
Ava: Oh, so now it's truth time. If you think I'm gonna tell you where Kayla is after that... tell you what though. I've got a new offer. You said that finding your boy was your top priority. You come with me to Indonesia and you prove it. And once we are there, I will call Joey and tell him where to find Kayla. Then we all get what we want. And that is my final offer.
Kayla: Help! Help! [Screams] Help! Help! [Hyperventilating] Oh! Oh! [Whimpers]
