Belle: Yes? How did you know... [Clears throat]
Philip: [Sniffs] Don't tell me! Blueberry muffin, mocha latte.
Belle: And you knew this how?
Philip: Every once in a while, I pay attention.
Belle: And you knew I'd be here at this exact time of day?
Philip: Well, like I said...
Belle: Maybe I shouldn't be so predictable.
Philip: Well, then it would be more difficult for us to run into each other... accidentally.
Deimos: You wanted to see me?
Victor: There you go. $1 million.
Deimos: And what is this? My welcome back bonus?
Victor: No, it's your get the hell out of Salem bonus.
Brady: Oh, it's you.
Brady: No, no, no, no. Just...
Brady: I--I've been--
Theresa: You can say it, Brady. You were dreaming about Nicole, weren't you? Look, I'm okay.
Brady: Ugh, I--
Theresa: Brady, I just-- I want you to feel like you can talk to me about those dreams, about anything. Hey. I'm gonna go see when they're releasing you, okay?
Roman: They're finishing up the paperwork.
Eric: I'm ready to go. Don't worry about me, Mom. Please. I promise... I promise you, I'm gonna make this tragedy count for something.
Officer: You have the right to remain silent.
Officer: Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Nicole: The only right you have is to rot in hell for the rest of your life.
Marlena: Nicole, don't. Please, don't do this. She's grieving. She's just lashing out at the nearest target. That's all.
Eric: No, she's lashing out at the person who killed the man she loved. I deserved it.
Nicole: They just took Eric to jail. And I hope he gets the maximum sentence.
Brady: Nicole, I know how you feel. I really do understand, but I don't think Daniel would want you to hate Eric. I really don't.
Nicole: You're not angry with him? I mean, Eric drove drunk, and he killed a man--
Brady: I know.
Nicole: That we both love.
Brady: I know, but it was an accident. It was a horrific accident. It was terrible. But it's not because Eric is a bad person. And to be angry and vindictive and want someone to suffer more than what they already have, Nicole--it's not right. It's not what he-- what Daniel would want. Listen to me. Aside from Daniel saving my life, it... it seems he's made me a better person. His compassion--it seems to be in me now.
Deimos: I'm out of here.
Victor: Oh, I get it, Deimos. You're upset that I didn't go to bat for you all those years ago. Now you're gonna hold it against me. Why would I have protected you? You slept with my fiancée and then you murdered her.
Deimos: You know damn well I had nothing to do with her death. And I didn't come to Salem for a handout from you or anyone else.
Victor: Well, then, what in God's name did you come for?
Deimos: How about an apology? Huh? Something along the lines of, "I'm so sorry, my dear brother for taking your life away from you, for forcing you to live in a hellhole of a prison for 30 years of your life, wrongly accused."
Victor: And how is that my fault? You were convicted of a crime.
Deimos: A crime I did not commit.
Victor: The evidence said otherwise. All right, fine, I'll write you a check for $2 million. Take it and disappear.
Deimos: Oh, man. Have you finally gone senile? I just finished telling you I don't want your damn money.
Victor: Fine, stay in Salem, live in Salem, but know one thing: You will not undermine me or my family, 'cause I'm on to you.
Deimos: Once again, my dear older brother breaks my heart.
Victor: Oh, what heart? Go on, get out of here. Get out of my sight.
Eve: Hi. I got your message. It sounded important.
Claire: Yep. I've made a decision.
Eve: Okay, well are you gonna make me guess here? What is it?
Claire: I'm gonna go to the audition at Juilliard.
Eve: Oh, Claire! That's so wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. You did share this with your parents, right? Because I do not want to step on anybody's toes here.
Claire: Oh, no, no, no, you aren't. I talked to my dad about it, and he said that he'd go along with whatever I decided. And my mom couldn't care less about this, or anything else involving me, so...
Eve: Oh, honey, I'm sure that's not true.
Claire: Yeah, it is. She's just really messed up right now. Can't think of anyone but herself.
Eve: Hon, listen. Sometimes, well, sometimes parents just get consumed in their own issues, but it doesn't mean that they don't love their children more than anything in the whole wide world.
Claire: Unless their issues are Las Vegas... and Philip Kiriakis.
Claire: Well, it doesn't mean that she doesn't love me anymore. I know that. It's just, she's into her love life now... a little bit more than her kid, you know?
Eve: Come here. You'll be okay.
Belle: Excuse me?
Philip: It's already been taken care of.
Belle: Philip, you have to let me take care of the check every once in a while, or I might start getting used to this.
Philip: Well, this one is on the house...literally. I made a bet with the barista that you would show up pretty much when you did, and that you would want exactly that muffin and that coffee. I won.
Belle: Hm. It seems like your gambling skills have improved since Las Vegas, because as I remember it, I beat the pants off of you in strip black jack, literally.
Philip: Win-win situation for the both of us.
Nicole: I--I spoke to Theresa. She... she told me you were having strange dreams about me. Would you mind... describing them?
Brady: You and Daniel were kissing. You were looking into each other's eyes. There's another one where you were...shaving him. You both seemed really, really, really happy. And there's another one with Daniel's proposal. He asks you to marry him. You were at a restaurant. You were having dinner... and you were very excited and surprised.
Nicole: Oh, my God. Brady, those... those weren't dreams. They're memories. They're-- they're Daniel's memories. Want bladder leak underwear that moves like you do?
Philip: Shawn, how's it going? Good to see you, man.
Shawn: Cut the crap.
Philip: I'm fine, too. Thanks for asking.
Shawn: Stay away from belle.
Philip: This from the guy who filed for divorce.
Shawn: I made a mistake.
Philip: Hard one to backtrack on, though.
Shawn: You've tried to come between me and belle before, haven't you, Philip?
Philip: Excellent memory, there, Shawn.
Shawn: Didn't work out so well for you, did it? Stop wasting your time.
Philip: And hey, if you're so confident in belle's utter devotion to you, why bother telling me to stay away from her?
Shawn: 'Cause she's vulnerable right now, and her decisions may not be the smartest ones.
Philip: Or maybe they are. Maybe you need to look past what you want and think about what she wants. And I have to admit to being curious...since you're obviously so possessive of her, threatened by me and, I would think, any man who would dare lay a hand on her, why were you so ready to divorce her? And why, now, are you so quick to change your mind?
Shawn: I take it you've never done that before, right? Changed your mind?
Philip: Maybe not with such unbelievable swiftness. I mean, frankly, it seems a bit frivolous. Not to mention really messed up that you wouldn't have thought long and hard before pulling the trigger on something so very life altering. And just so you know, this is the last time I intend to talk to you about belle. I will discuss sports with you, the economy, global warming, but anything about belle-- you take it up with her from now on.
Nicole: Okay, I think that's enough for today. It's time to rest, yeah?
Brady: Yeah, yeah. [Groans]
Nicole: Okay, Brady, this is probably too much to ask, but it would really mean a lot to me if you would tell me more about what you're seeing and what you're feeling.
Brady: I'll tell you all I-- all I can. I will. Just, the memories, they're... they're fleeting. There is one that recurs more frequently than the others. It's the one of you. You're--you're... in this window. Sunlight is pouring in, and it's... it's beautiful. There's waves crashing in the background, I--
Nicole: Daniel and I have never been by the ocean together. Is it possible that maybe you're confusing two different images?
Brady: Maybe. [Stammers] Maybe, but that's the... that's the vision that I see coming back to me the most.
Nicole: Brady, are you... are you sure it's me you're seeing?
Brady: I'm pretty certain it's you, but you shouldn't be focusing on these things. This is a time that you need to grieve. It's the only way you're gonna move forward. And I shouldn't even be telling you about these images and memories--
Nicole: You didn't, you didn't. Theresa did. I just hope she's not upset that I'm the one you're seeing in your dreams, or... the memories.
Brady: Theresa's fine about it.
Deimos: You really are a heartless son of a bitch, you know that?
Victor: When it comes to you, you're damn right I am.
Deimos: Just like our father was. He always did take your side.
Victor: Oh, here comes the self-pity. Poor Deimos, the surprise baby that nobody wanted.
Deimos: Oh, come on, you know damn well that was true.
Victor: What I know is that I don't give a rat's ass. I never did. I was 20 years old when you were born. I had better things to do than tend to a bratty sob who made everybody's life miserable around him when he didn't get what he wanted.
Deimos: [Laughs] When did I ever get what I wanted?
Victor: Oh, cry me a damn river. I'm the one that took all the beatings. You were a spoiled brat, and you got away with murder. And why are we talking about this now, all these years later? It's ancient history, and I'm bored with it. Just get the hell out of my house. I don't want--
Philip: Dad, what happened? What's wrong? Oh, my God.
Victor: No, no, no.
Philip: Yeah, this is Phil--
Victor: No 911--I'm fine.
Philip: No, you're not. You looked like you were having a heart attack.
Victor: Operative words are "looked like." And the Oscar goes to...
Marlena: Did you see him?
Roman: They're booking him now.
Justin: I hear Eric is coming in. I can only imagine how difficult this is for both of you.
Marlena: I know he would not want me to ask you for leniency, so I won't do that... but I do hope you won't use this event or my son for any political advantage.
Justin: I can assure you, I am not in this for anything other than to see justice done, and you both know what that means, given that there was a death involved. So I'm going to simply present the state's case, and the final call will be with the judge.
Theresa: Hi. Listen, I have some documents at the office that are ready for you to sign and also, the proofs for the magazine shoot are ready. I didn't know you were gonna be here, or I would've brought them with me.
Nicole: Thank you, Theresa.
Theresa: Also, Brady, I spoke with Fynn, and he promised that he'd release you tomorrow.
Theresa: And, as we discussed, I think it's best if you come home with me and Tate-- to our house, not to Victor's.
Brady: Right. Yeah.
Theresa: You know, the important thing is that you're gonna be out in time for Daniel's funeral tomorrow.
Nicole: What? Tomorrow?
Philip: Why would you do that? Why would you fake having a heart attack? You nearly gave me one, for God's sake.
Victor: Because I wanted to see how deep my brother's hatred went. Did you see what that son of a bitch did? He walked out of here and left me to die.
Philip: But you weren't dying.
Victor: He didn't know that. And all those protestations he made about leaving the past behind us?
Philip: Maybe he's having a hard time putting behind him the 30 years of prison time he spent for allegedly killing your fiancée.
Victor: I never told anybody but Maggie about what happened 30 years ago. How the hell did you find out?
Belle: Claire, it's mom again. Please call me back. I've been trying to reach you. I'll be here waiting for you, Claire.
Marlena: Hi, sweetie.
Belle: Hi. Is Eric out of the hospital?
Marlena: Eric's in jail.
Belle: Oh, my God. I can't even imagine how hard this must be for you.
Marlena: Honey, it's hard for everybody. He wants to plead guilty. Doesn't even want a lawyer.
Belle: Well, he needs a lawyer, whether he wants one or not--I'll be there for him. You know I'll do whatever I can to help.
Marlena: I know you will. I overheard you leaving a message for Claire. She still won't return your calls?
Belle: Nope. Or my texts. Just... I feel like I'm losing her. I can't get her to listen to anything I have to say.
Marlena: Have you tried listening to her?
Belle: Why would you say that to me? Of course I listen to her. You know what? I am so sick of everyone blaming me for everything that goes wrong. I made one mistake-- one! Don't you think I've paid enough for that?
Marlena: It sounds to me as though the only person blaming you is you. I was not talking about Maine. I was talking about your jaunt to Vegas... with Philip.
Victor: How did you know about my brother's prison time?
Philip: I heard you talking to Maggie. So I went to Deimos to see if I could get the whole story. He told me that you let him take the fall for killing your fiancée when he was innocent. Is that true?
Victor: Absolutely not. He paid for the crime that he committed. End of story. And didn't I tell you to stay away from him?
Philip: I was worried about you, father.
Victor: Don't be. I can handle my brother.
Philip: And together, we can handle him even better.
Victor: Philip, stay out of it. You have to keep your hands clean for Titan's sake. And tomorrow after Daniel's funeral, I'll find a way to neutralize my brother-- get him out of my life for good.
Kate: I will miss your company tonight, Eduardo. I hate drinking alone. Well, there's so much I could talk to you about... but mostly, I would like to talk about your very dangerous and intriguing life. [Laughs] I see. You, too. Later.
Deimos: Excuse me. I overheard you saying that you hate drinking alone. Looks like we already have something in common. May I join you?
Kate: Well, that depends. Do I know you?
Deimos: My name is Deimos. Deimos Kiriakis. Kate: Well, now you have my attention.
Theresa: Nicole, I'm so sorry. I thought you would've known, that you would've been in on the funeral arrangements.
Nicole: Theresa, don't-- there's no need to be sorry. It's not your fault. You know, Melanie tried talking to me, too, and I just didn't want to deal with it. Maggie, too. She left me a couple messages, and I just distracted myself with work. I just didn't want to have to face the fact that-- do you know what Maggie decided to do?
Theresa: It's gonna be a small service at the church. That's what she said. And afterward, everyone's gonna go to club TBD for a reception. And Maggie also said, per Daniel's wishes, he's gonna be cremated.
Theresa: Okay, and instead of flowers, they're gonna ask for donations to the children's wing of the hospital.
Nicole: Yeah, that-- that would mean a lot to him. Thank you.
Kate: So, would it be very far off of me to assume that you are somehow related to Victor Kiriakis?
Deimos: Not at all. He's my brother.
Kate: He's my ex.
Deimos: [Laughs] Well, then, I guess I can assume that you know him very well.
Kate: Probably better than anyone.
Deimos: Would it earn me a smile if I told you that I'm nothing like him?
Kate: You know, it's very surprising that he never mentioned you to me.
Deimos: My brother, as I'm sure you're aware of, can be very secretive. Personally, I like to lay my cards right on the table, face up.
Belle: Why would you ask me about Philip and my trip to Vegas? What has that got to do with Claire?
Marlena: You can't figure that out?
Belle: I can figure out that you don't approve of me seeing Philip. That's a total no-brainer.
Marlena: Your daughter was looking forward to some mother-daughter time with you. When you went to Vegas, she was very disappointed. You can understand that, can't you?
Belle: Yes, I can. Truth is, I knew that she was gonna ask about Shawn and me, and she was gonna tell me how heartbroken she is that Shawn and I aren't trying to work things out, and I just couldn't hear it.
Claire: I forgot my bio paper. Hi, Grandma.
Marlena: Hi, sweetheart. I've got to get back to the precinct. I love you. You'll figure this out. I've got faith in you.
Belle: Thanks, mom. Wait.
Claire: Mom, I'm gonna be late for class.
Belle: No, I will write you a note. I want to tell you something.
Belle: Baby, what I did, going to Vegas, was selfish. I get it. You needed me here, and I wasn't thinking about you or your feelings, and I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Will you forgive me, please?
Claire: Sure, sure. But... there is something you can do to kind of make it up to me.
Belle: And what's that?
Claire: You can support me in my decision to audition for Juilliard. Mom, I--I know what you think. It's really hard to try to make it as a singer, but I have to at least give it a try, and dad's okay with it, so... will you just think about it some more, please?
[Knocking at door]
Claire: Oh, hi, Dad.
Claire: Hi. I was just talking about you and how supportive you've been about me auditioning for Juilliard.
Shawn: Yeah. I mean, I just want you to be happy.
Claire: Thanks. Well, I got to get to class.
Belle: So, you just want her to be happy? What a novel concept. Why didn't I think of that?
Shawn: I didn't mean to try to-- listen, Claire knows that you have reservations about her auditioning for Juilliard. She knows that... that you're just being protective.
Belle: Actually, she doesn't know that.
Shawn: Well, I hope the two of you can sort that out. But, actually, I didn't come here to talk about that. I came here to talk about something else.
[Knocking at door]
Theresa: Hi. Listen, I-- I brought over the papers for you to sign.
Nicole: Oh, you didn't--
Theresa: And the proofs.
Nicole: Have to do that.
Theresa: I wanted to. Listen, I think they came out really well, too, and a lot of that was because of your incredibly good taste and judgment.
Nicole: What is it?
Theresa: It's so stupid, and I feel like a complete idiot, but...
Nicole: It bothers you. About me and Brady. You're worried that because of Daniel--his heart beating in Brady--you think my connection to Brady is even stronger, don't you?
Kate: There's my son. Philip! Come meet your uncle.
Philip: Actually, we've met. Briefly.
Deimos: Hello, Philip.
Kate: Just briefly? Why do I think there's something I'm missing here?
Deimos: I'm already late. Long day ahead. It was nice meeting you, Kate.
Kate: It was my pleasure.
Kate: So... what, exactly, is the dynamic between Vic and his brother?
Philip: Just that, according to my dad, Deimos is nothing but trouble. And judging by the tell-tale "trouble sounds like fun" twinkle in your eye, you're intrigued by him.
Kate: Well, I wouldn't exactly say "intrigued," but... he is your uncle, after all.
Philip: Stay away from him, mom--I mean it.
Kate: Of course.
Philip: And the subtext of that "of course" is, "I'll do whatever the hell I want, Philip, so don't even..." close?
Kate: You nailed it, baby.
Belle: Shawn, I don't think that right now is a very--
Shawn: I don't care what it is that you think.
Belle: Oh, great. Well, that's a great way to start a conversation about us.
Shawn: No, the reason why I don't care is because I know that you're confused. I know that you're hurt. And that's all on me. Look, when I filed for divorce, that was a mistake. I realize that now. I was hurt, obviously, and it was my way of hurting you back. And now, you being with Philip-- that's--that's your way of hurting me back.
Belle: Oh, so that's what you've reduced it to? I'm just seeing Philip to get back at you? How mature and dignified of me.
Shawn: Belle, I don't want--
Belle: No, it's insulting, Shawn--it's insulting to me, and it's insulting to Philip.
Shawn: Oh, well, you know, I'm sorry for insulting Philip, of all people, 'cause you know, I mean, he is just a stand-up guy, right? Isn't he?
Belle: Oh, would you please just can it with the sarcasm?
Shawn: Fine. Then I'll leave you alone.
Belle: Yeah. I think that's a great idea.
Marlena: [Stammers] Where is he, where is he? Did they--
Roman: No. No.
Marlena: [Sighs] I was worried I was too late. I was afraid they'd-- I spoke to belle. Of course she'll represent him.
Roman: I don't think he's gonna change his mind about wanting a lawyer.
Marlena: I'm here. I'm here. I'm right here. I'm always right here.
Eric: It's okay, Mom. It's okay. It's okay.
Roman: Okay. It's okay.
Officer: Let's go.
Marlena: [Sobs] [Crying]
Theresa: Look, I know there's nothing going on between you guys. You're just drawn to Brady right now because... because he has Daniel's heart. And old Theresa would freak out, but I'm not that person anymore. You're not saying anything. Is that because I'm right? You are drawn to Brady right now?
Nicole: Yes... but not in a romantic way. And I'm not gonna lie. It's intense. We were two of the people who loved Daniel most in this world, and we would feel a connection even if... oh, God. I miss him so much. My love, my... my Daniel.
I was a fool
And I -- I'll do the things--
[Heartbeat gets faster]
