[Faint dance music]
[Music gets louder]
Brady: Bad dream?
Victor: You can handle it with two men, no problem. I'll get back to you.
Theresa: Hey, Victor. What are you doing here? Oh, God, is--is Brady all right?
Victor: Oh, yes. He's mending nicely.
Victor: I just stopped by to see what belongings he'd brought over here. I'm having them shipped back to the house. He'll be doing his recovery there.
Nicole: [Sighing] [Exhales sharply] [Sniffles] [Sighs] Hey.
Nicole: Well, I got eggs. Then I lost interest. And I just wanted to crawl into a-- what's wrong?
Chloe: Parker still refuses to go home with me to Chicago. He says his dad's here, and so he's not leaving.
Nicole: Oh, poor thing. I mean, did you tell him he'll be back in a few days for the, um, funeral?
Chloe: Yeah, well, he doesn't really care. I mean, look at what he made.
Nicole: [Sighs] [Chuckles softly]
Chloe: [Mouthing words]
[Knock at door]
Lani: Rafe, you in there?
Stefano: [Echoing] You are powerless. You are defeated. You are a joke.
Hope: Am I?
Stefano: [Laughing] You know, I'm sorry for laughing, but you're embarrassing yourself. We both know that you don't have the guts to pull that trigger.
Stefano: Predictable to the very end. You are, at heart, a coward, just like that banal dead husband of yours. May he rest in peace.
[Pounding at door]
André: Where's my father?
Eric: Brady, you're--
Brady: Up and about. That's what they say. How about that, huh? But then again, I'm one of the lucky ones, aren't I?
Eric: I... truly don't know what to say. I'm so sorry.
Brady: Are you.
Eric: You're up... on your feet. That's an answer to a lot of prayers.
Brady: You been doing a lot of that praying thing?
Eric: What I did was horrible, and I don't ever expect you to forgive me for what I've done.
Lani: Rafe? Hey, is somebody in there?
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, hey.
Rafe: Sorry, I just-- I must have just locked that thing out of habit. What's up?
Lani: I just wanted to check with you about my schedule for the weekend.
Lani: You been up all night?
Rafe: That bad, huh? Yeah. Another all-nighter. You know, just-- you know what? Actually, I need your help on a case file. Can you grab that Seth Malcolm one for me?
Rafe: What? We still need to prove that hope was set up.
Lani: I guess, yeah.
Rafe: You guess? What do you mean you guess?
Lani: I mean, I know you've been going at it from that angle, but...
Rafe: Okay, you got something to say, say it.
Lani: Look, maybe it's nothing, but...before, you were working your butt off to clear your partner. I don't know. Something's changed.
Rafe: Something-- what does that mean?
Lani: You seem different, like maybe you found out she really is guilty but you're still gonna protect her.
Hope: Why would I know where your father is?
André: You showed up at the mansion yesterday, demanding to see him. Then when I got home, you'd gone, and so was my father. Also I got this text from him just now saying that you had figured it out.
Hope: Looks like he's on his way to Paris. Why bother me?
André: What was it you had figured out?
Hope: Ask Stefano.
André: I'm asking you.
André: And at the same time, you can tell me why, after you had figured it out, it worried him so much that he just jumped on a plane and fled the country!
Nicole: [Chuckles softly] Hey. Did you build this, hmm? A fort? It's a pretty great one. You are really good at building things.
Parker: Like my dad.
Nicole: Yeah. You know, when you go back to Chicago, I'm thinking I'm gonna leave this up so it'll be right here waiting for you when you get back, just like I'll be right here waiting for you.
Parker: I'm not going.
Nicole: You're not? Hmm. Well, what about your friends in Chicago? They'll miss you. You don't want them to be lonely, do you?
Parker: My daddy's here.
Nicole: You know, honey... I know it's hard to think that you'll never see your dad again. It sure is hard for me. But you know where he'll always be? Right inside here and... right inside here. [Sighs]
Theresa: Brady didn't say anything about moving back into the mansion. So where is this coming from?
Victor: Well, if he's staying with us, he'll have access to doctors who will come at a moment's notice. He'll have a full staff that'll see to his every need. By far, the best choice for his recovery.
Theresa: Bull. This has nothing to do with his recovery. You just want me out of his life.
Victor: Well, that's an added bonus.
Theresa: Victor, listen, if you try to take Brady away from me and Tate, then it's gonna add a lot of stress to him, and he just needs some peace and quiet so he can heal faster.
Victor: He'll be fine, away from the woman who nearly cost him his life.
Theresa: No, no! I--no! We're doing doing that. I am sick and tired of hearing you blame me for an accident! I really thought that if we started working together, maybe we could let go of some of this hostility, but then you got this crazy idea--
Victor: Not an idea. It's a fact. If he'd kept going straight instead of turning his car around because of you--
Theresa: Fine, twist it any way you want, okay? Bit if you think that Brady is gonna walk away from me, you're wrong, because he loves me. Brady's gonna hate you for trying to do this, Victor. Is that what you want?
Victor: I want you out of his life.
Theresa: Get out. Get out! Just get out of our house.
Victor: [Clears throat]
Brady: You know, Eric, when I-- when I take a step back and I look at this, I realize, "hey, this could have been me. This could have been me that made all of this happen." I could have been coked up out of my mind, five or ten drinks in me. I could have slid right behind the wheel and...
Eric: You know, I really appreciate that. But I was drunk. I was behind the wheel. I was the one who killed somebody. I caused all the pain. You know, I appreciate you, what you're trying to say, trying to be understanding. But I don't deserve it. I don't deserve anything.
Brady: Well, brother, here's what I know. You are gonna wake up every single day of your life and you're gonna know what you did. And there's nothing I can say, and there's nothing a judge can say or do that's gonna make you feel worse than the way in which you're gonna feel when you look in the mirror every single day of your life. So my advice to you is to get used to it.
I'm lucky to get through a shift without a disaster.
Hope: Well, obviously, when I confronted your father with what I found out, I had him dead to rights, and he knew it.
André: And this that you found out was?
Hope: You want to play this game right now?
André: I'm sorry I'm in the dark. Perhaps you'd like to enlighten me.
Hope: My husband was captured and tortured for over a year, André.
André: It was on the news, yes.
Hope: And while he was a prisoner, being tortured, he was sick. He had a brain tumor. He didn't know about about it until he broke free from Seth Malcolm's torture chamber.
André: And died.
Hope: Because he didn't receive any treatment.
André: So you're saying my father is behind all of this?
Hope: Oh, yeah. I know he is. He also kidnapped my daughter, trying to force me to tell him everything I know about the drug. And then, if that weren't enough, he framed me for Seth Malcolm's murder.
André: My goodness. My father was certainly a busy man.
Hope: We're done. Get out.
André: One more thing. I know that you were suspended from the police force. So when you knew all of this information and that you went to the house, how come you weren't accompanied by the detectives and a warrant?
Hope: Because what I know and what I can prove aren't always the same.
André: So my father fled the country because you were suspicious. And for the umpteenth time, you've accused him of something you couldn't prove. I don't think so.
Rafe: What the hell was that, huh? A rookie d suddenly decides that I'm breaking the law?
Rafe: Okay, listen. I'm trying to do my job, okay, detective?
Lani: I understand that. I just told you what I thought it was starting to look like. If I'm wrong, I'll apologize.
Lani: Am I? Or did you find out she really is guilty?
Rafe: She did not kill Seth Malcolm. All right?
Lani: Okay. I'll get that file for you.
Rafe: All right. Wait. Shut the door.
Brady: I suppose it's time to stop shoving it in your face.
Eric: You weren't.
Brady: Sure, I was. Later, brother.
Eric: Brady. If anyone... deserved to get Daniel's heart, I'm glad it was you.
Brady: Yeah, okay.
Eric: You know, one of the nurses told me that there was actually a chance that I was gonna-- I was gonna get it, his heart, you know, which is absurd. But that's what she said.
Brady: I'm glad that the antibiotics are working for you.
Eric: You know what? I didn't deserve it, not after what I did. If there was ever really a choice, they should have just let me die.
Brady: Shut up. Why do you feel sorry for yourself? You want to feel sorry for yourself, stop it! Look at me. Look at me. You have a second chance. That's what you've been given. It's a chance that Daniel didn't get. I don't need to remind you what kind of man he was, so you do what's right and you honor his damn memory, you understand me? Enough of the pity. Let it go. You should feel terrible. You should feel awful. Feel it. But then, then, my brother, you get well, and you go out there and you earn the right to what you've been given.
Nicole: Parker, can I tell you something? I think about your dad all the time. I bet you do too, don't you? I think about how he laughed and how he'd be so kind to listen to me, and I mean really listen to me. I bet he did that for you too, didn't he? And when something went really wrong, your dad would never give up, would he? No. So I'm thinking... that we should remember him and all--all the great things about him. And not just remember him, but we should really try to be like him-- strong and never, never giving up on anything. Okay? Can I tell you a secret? I really wish I could build a fort like this and crawl inside, but I want to be like your dad. Okay? I mean, I don't think your dad would crawl in a box and give up, would he? Oh, buddy.
[Laughs] Okay. All right, listen to me. Look at me. Right here, right now, we are gonna be strong. We are gonna be so strong. Yes? And I don't think you know this, but your mom needs our help because she's so sad too. So together, you and me, we are gonna help her remember. Okay? Okay. I love you. Okay.
Parker: Mommy, let's go home.
Chloe: [Mouthing words]
Nicole: You're welcome. [Sighs]
Eric: You're right. No more self-pity.
Brady: Good. We're done. Oh, one more thing. Never drink again.
Eric: [Sighs] [Groans and winces]
Mr. Brady? Is something wrong?
Eric: I need you to make a call for me.
Brady: [Sighs] [Groans]
Theresa: Hey. Hey, you.
Brady: Hi, hey. Well, look who it is. My boy. Hi!
Theresa: I know; I thought you might want to see him.
Brady: Of course, of course. How is he? Is he having a good day?
Theresa: Yeah. Say, "I'm having a great day."
Brady: So good to see you.
Brady: Listen... there's something we got to talk about.
Theresa: Yeah. Your grandfather wants you to move back into his place, and he wants me gone for good.
Brady: So you have already talked.
Theresa: Yeah. Listen, Brady, is that what you want?
Brady: No. No, no, no. But you know my granddad. He, um-- I just wanted to warn you it might get kind of ugly. It might get a little mean.
Brady: Seems you already know that, though.
Rafe: Come here. All right, first of all, I owe you an apology. Okay, I just-- I'm frustrated about this case. I got a lot on my mind. And, you know, like I said, I haven't slept, and just... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that.
Lani: No problem.
Rafe: Yeah, okay. And like I said before, I need you to keep me honest, so if you have something to say, you should be able to say it like you said-- you know, I just-- I can't blow a fuse like that, all right?
Lani: It's cool, seriously. Everything is good.
Rafe: All right. Thank you. Yeah.
Lani: I can see how you thought I was, like, crossing a line. Look, I know you really care about hope, and you're doing everything you can to clear her name. Obviously, you don't think she's guilty, or you don't want to. I just had to ask, you know?
Lani: Seems weird, though. It never even crossed your mind that she could commit a murder?
André: You know, I'm sorry, hope, but your little story doesn't add up.
Hope: There's more?
André: Oh, yes, much more.
Hope: I'll tell you what. Why don't you go find out what it is and come back and enlighten me?
André: I'm going to get... to the bottom of this. I'll find my father.
Hope: Good luck with that. And when you do find him, be sure to ask him what he was thinking when he went after my husband, would you? I never did get that out of him. He was defiant right up to--
André: To the end?
Hope: Yes. To the end... of our conversation. When I left, he was still claiming he had no idea what I was talking about. But, then, he is a DiMera, like you. We are done here.
I drive a golf ball.
[Knock at door]
Louis: I was told you wanted to see me?
Eric: Yes. Thank you for coming. I want you to hear my confession.
Theresa: You know, Victor and I, we sat here together all night that night, and, I mean, we were fine. And I thought we'd finally made our peace, you know?
Brady: It takes time for him to change. He's-- he's used to getting his own way.
Theresa: Yeah, well, his way is for me to be gone. Brady, he wants me out of your life, and... you know, he says Daniel would still be alive and you never would have been hurt all because I made you turn around and go back to that fashion show and... oh, God, Brady. Is that what you think? Do you think this is my fault?
[Cell phone rings]
Hope: Thank God. Are you alone?
Rafe: Enough, yeah. What's up?
Hope: André-- oh, my God, André was just here. He got the text from Stefano's phone. He's suspicious, Rafe.
Rafe: Yeah, well, if that's all it is.
Hope: He's not buying my story that I left his father in the study last night.
Rafe: He can't prove anything. Trust me. We covered our tracks. Hope? Listen, you stay put. I'm on my way.
André: "Don't follow me." No. [Exhales deeply] No way in hell.
Brady: Theresa, no. I don't believe that for a second. My grandfather's wrong. He's wrong. He's just looking for someone to blame.
Theresa: But it was an accident.
Brady: I know. Accidents, they happen, right? Daniel would have-- he would have never played the blame game.
Theresa: Honey, come on, you're so tired.
Brady: I just-- I owe him. I owe him too. He's given me a second chance, and I owe Daniel too.
Eric: I knew I was drunk. But I did it anyway. I got behind the wheel and caused all the pain. Father, I'm not the same man I used to be, the man who used to come to you asking for help, trusting in God. You know, it's actually like I've been transformed into this, like, selfish... weak-willed excuse for a man with no conscience.
Louis: Eric, I think you're being awfully hard on yourself.
Eric: I need to be. I need to be the man that God wants me to be. I killed a man. I killed my best friend. Other... people's lives... were changed, were badly injured all because of me. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked you to come here.
Eric: I'm desperate for help, God's help. I need to become who I'm meant to be. Otherwise, everything that I've done will have no meaning.
André: Yes, I'm calling to confirm a plane that I chartered for a flight to Paris. Yes, the name is Stefano DiMera. Yes, that's the one. No, no, no, the charge is fine. As a matter of fact, I just wanted to call that company to tell them what a splendid job they did. Normally, I--I fly my own jet, but it was down for maintenance. Yes. Do you think you could give me the name of that company? Thank you.
Hope: Oh, thank you for coming. Oh, my God, Rafe. Oh, I'm sorry. I just--
Rafe: It's all right.
Hope: It's just been a hell of a morning, and it's all-- I'm sorry--sorry--sorry about that.
Rafe: It's okay, hope. Hope, listen.
Hope: Oh, my God, Rafe.
Rafe: Don't let André scare you. Stop it, okay? The guy acts like he's some kind of Stefano clone. He's not. He's not. We're safe, okay?
Hope: We hope.
Rafe: Okay, listen to me. We dumped Stefano's body in a building that's gonna be demolished in two days, right? No body, no murder.
Hope: I guess, yeah. What?
Rafe: There's another reason that I came by.
Rafe: I'm fairly certain that we're safe when it comes to Stefano. But there is another thing that could trip us up: Seth Malcolm's murder.
Louis: Eric, I understand what you're feeling. You're in need, looking for redemption. And frankly, with so much determination, I think you'll find it with God's help.
Eric: You know, my brother, he was right. I've been given a second chance. I can't ignore it. I did something horrible. Now if I can prevent even one person from making the same mindless mistake that I did... I might be able to forgive myself.
André: No, no, no. The billing company gave me your number. Yes, I'm Stefano DiMera's son. Yeah, but I have a right to know that information. He's my father. He chartered a flight with you. All I want to know was, was he on that plane when it took off? Well, just tell me. Hello? Hello. Son of a bitch.
Rafe: Best chance that you had to beat the charge that you killed Seth Malcolm was to pin it on Stefano.
Hope: Who did do it or had it done.
Rafe: Oh, right. But now that he's gone, they're gonna look to pin it on you.
Hope: Right. I guess it's time. I have to plead guilty.
