Episode #12754 ~ Chad deceives Stefano & André; Belle confides in Philip, who comforts her; Rafe grills André about Dr. Malcolm; Ava leaves evidence of her secret for Steve to find.

Chad: From now on, it's gonna be just the three of us.

Abigail: Chad, cutting yourself off from your family's not gonna be easy.

Chad: After what they did to me... to us. The DiMeras aren't my family. My family's right here in this room.

[Dramatic music]

André: Well, this better be important, Chad. Well?

Chad: You told me the minute I found something out about belle or the money Sami stole that I should let you know. Well, I'm here to let you know. Unless you'd rather go back to bed.

Belle: You're still here? I figured the workaholic in you would have gone home to take care of all those important decisions.

Philip: I wanted to make sure you were all right before I left.

Belle: I just found my mom down in the chapel. I left her and dad in Eric's room. I don't know, I guess everybody's...coping, I guess.

Philip: What about you? How are you doing?

Belle: I'm fine.

Philip: Liar.

Kayla: Thanks for the lift.

Steve: Yeah.

Kayla: [Laughs]

Steve: Hey, baby, how about a hot bath, huh?

Kayla: No, I don't--

Steve: You've been through hell tonight. Might help you sleep.

Kayla: I don't wanna sleep. I just wanna make sure they can get a hold of me.

Steve: Give me that. They can get a hold of you, you know that. Come on. Sweetness, there's nothing more you can do right now. You and Dr. Thompson saved Brady's life. Now it's up to him. And Eric's loaded up with antibiotics--he's gonna fight too.

Kayla: It's Daniel--I just--

Steve: Shh, baby.

Kayla: [Sighs]

Steve: There is nothing anyone could have done for Daniel, but his heart is still beating inside Brady. And that's a miracle.

Kayla: Okay.

Steve: Come on. Come sit down.

Kayla: I don't wanna sit down.

Steve: No, no, no, humor me. Come on. Sit right over here. We need to get rid of some of this tension. Yeah...oh, yeah. Like a rock.

Kayla: [Chuckles]

Steve: Oh, come on.

Kayla: [Sighs]

Steve: Relax. You've been so busy taking care of other people you forgot about you.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: Will you let me take care of you now?

Kayla: [Chuckles]

Steve: Hey, how about I get you something to eat? Both: Hm.

Kayla: I'm not hungry.

Steve: Let me see what we got.

Kayla: I'm not hungry.

Steve: Hot soup would be good. I'm gonna look anyway.

Kayla: [Groans] [Sighs] Mm.

Steve: Got yogurt... uh, salad... and more yogurt. What do you think?

[Soft music]

Oh... okay.

She can sleep sitting up.

[Dramatic music]

Ava: No. Open.

Rafe: How many times do I have to say this to you? Stop! Just stop--

Hope: I haven't done anything yet.

Rafe: No, not yet, but you're going to. I know you are. You know you are...

Hope: I've said--

Rafe: And if it's illegal I can't protect you.

Hope: I have said from the beginning I was gonna see this through, and I am. Absolutely.

Rafe: Would you just let me help you--it'll w--

Hope: Rafe, stop. You stop. You shouldn't be involved.

Rafe: And if something happens to you? If you go off the rails again like you did with Seth Malcolm, hope, I--

Hope: I know. You wont' be able to save me.

Rafe: No.

Hope: So why don't we just say our good-byes now?

Abigail: Oh. Hi, how's he doing?

He's sleeping. Doing just fine.

Abigail: Oh, good.

You should rest too.

Abigail: I'm fine. Do you know when he's gonna be released?

How about...when he wakes up?

Abigail: Oh, that's great. [Laughs]

Abigail: Thank you. I wonder why Chad's not back yet.

Chad: I finally pulled it off with belle. It was much easier than I thought. I just had to convince her that I wanted nothing to do with my family and she bought it. She trusts me completely.

Stefano: Excellent.

André: You woke us up out of a sound sleep because there was something you learned, remember?

Chad: Right. When I swung the conversation around to Sami, she told me everything. Naturally, about Sami's disappearance and that she stole a pile of money...

André: Yes, $500 million.

Chad: But she has no idea where Sami is--or where the money is, and neither do her parents. She was completely open. Hasn't a clue.

André: Do you think perhaps she had a reason to lie?

Chad: She might, but she didn't. She's desperate to trust me and for me to trust her. She told me everything. She's just scared for Sami.

André: Well, she should be.

Chad: Because if you find her you would hurt her.

Stefano: Son, you are positive that belle Brady--

Chad: She knows nothing. So we might as well just give up trying to get to Sami through her.

Belle: What? I look that bad?

Philip: You never look bad. I'm talking about how you feel. You've got a half brother here fighting a massive heart infection, and you've got another half brother who just had a heart transplant.

Belle: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, I--I don't know. I guess I'm not doing that great. Just coping like everybody else, I guess.

Philip: Then how about you let someone take care of you?

Belle: Meaning you?

Rafe: Okay.

Hope: Wh--Rafe. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm grateful for everything you've done--even coming over here tonight. Giving me the speech. Trying to warn me off.

Rafe: I'm not just spouting some line, hope. This is me asking. I am begging, okay? I'm begging. Come on. You know how much I care about you. You know.

Hope: Again, thank you.

Rafe: Wow. [Scoffs] Wow--so, no matter when I say you're just gonna do what you're gonna do?

Hope: Yeah, I am.

Rafe: Oh, great, and what about Ciara? She's just a kid, hope! You're just gonna leave her? She needs you. Please... just let me take this over. Have faith in me. I will not let you down.

[Dramatic music]

All right. [Scoffs] You know, I would stand here-- I would stand here all night if I thought I would get through to you. But obviously, you don't want me to protect you.

Hope: Good night. Take care of yourself.

Rafe: [Scoffs]

Belle: I didn't realize I was so thirsty. Thank you.

Philip: My guess is you haven't eaten either.

Belle: No. I got my mom and dad some pasta from the cafeteria and it looked pretty disgusting, so...

Philip: We could get you some food.

Belle: I'll get some when I get home. I'm heading over there now to pick up some clothes for my mom and dad. You know, Eric's holding his own now and Brady's doing pretty well too, but my mom and dad are never gonna leave, so...

Philip: Why don't I drop you off. You've been up all night. You shouldn't be driving.

Belle: You've been up all night too.

Philip: Yeah, but I'm used to it. Deal?

Belle: Deal.

[Cell phone rings]

Hope: Steve?

Steve: Yeah, hope. Something's happened. Something really bad. I need to talk to you.

Hope: Now's not a good time. Sorry.

[Dramatic music]

[Sighs] [Sighs] What do I do? Brady... tell me what to do.

Hope: Who is it?

Steve: It's Steve. I need to talk to you.

Hope: Steve, I told you, not now. I'm busy.

Steve: Two minutes, all right? You need to hear this.

Hope: No, I don't! Good-bye.

[Tense music]

God.

What if I never get the proof? What if I can never prove it?

André: Father, Chad is wrong. This is not a time to move on. This is a time to tighten the screws.

Stefano: Forget Samantha, belle, the whole business.

André: We're getting closer to getting the money and finding it every day. Don't you see?

Stefano: What I want to see is a graceful endgame. Please go, hmm?

André: [Sighs]

Stefano: I want to be alone.

[Stereo playing opera music]

Ah...

Belle: Do you have any idea what time it is?

Chad: I saw the light on and someone moving around or I wouldn't have knocked.

Belle: Said the stalker. [Scoffs] Whatever. Just--I'm here picking up some clothes for my parents. They stayed at the hospital last night.

Chad: Last I heard, Brady and Eric are doing okay.

Belle: Like you care.

Chad: I do care. What happened to Daniel Jonas--

Belle: Oh, please. Would you just stop it with the phony sympathy? I mean, what the hell, Chad? Didn't I make it clear to you last night? You're wasting your time.

Chad: Yes, and I'm not here to change your mind. I'm here to warn you.

Belle: Excuse me?

Chad: You were right, belle. I've been lying to you from day one.

André: Actually, detective, I instructed Harold to let you in. Actually, the staff have the day off so they're gonna be leaving very soon as you will be. Hmm. You have ten minutes.

Rafe: Well, actually, I need to speak to you and Stefano.

André: Oh, that's not going to happen. He's resting. Father hasn't been himself lately. So I'm all you got. So we either go with that or you have nothing.

Rafe: You ever hear of Dr. Seth Malcolm?

André: No, not that I can recall.

Rafe: Mm. He was gunned down in Salem last week.

André: Oh. A murder. Of course, it's first assumption is the DiMeras did it. To remind the police the last time they made that assumption they allowed a serial killer to kill and kill again.

Rafe: Yeah, well, why don't we just stay on the subject.

André: You know what? I always find it amazing how the police are always able to fail upwards. Let's just hope that Salem doesn't have to be subjected to another police department disaster.

Hope: Ciara? Ciara! Ciara!

Ciara: [Gasping]

Hope: Honey, hey. Honey, what is it baby?

Ciara: I couldn't-- I couldn't breathe. I had that dream again. [Crying]

Hope: Hey, it's freezing out here. Come on, let's go back inside. There's no sense in catching cold, all right? Oh, baby. Okay, come on. Sit down.

Ciara: I was running as fast as I could and you were telling me to run faster otherwise I wouldn't get out, and I couldn't breathe.

Hope: Baby... it's okay, you can breathe now. You can breathe. It's morning, look. It's a new day. [Sighs]

Ciara: When that man grabbed me... I thought I would never see you again.

Hope: Baby, it's okay. You're okay. Ciara, trust me. The people who did this to you, they are never ever going to hurt you again. I'm gonna make sure of it. Do you understand?

Ciara: I was just so scared.

Hope: I know. Come here. Close your eyes. Try to go back to sleep, baby. Okay? Because everything is gonna be okay now. I promise you.

Chad: Believe me, you don't wanna know the details, but just so you understand it wasn't my idea. My brother is a long way from being a nice guy.

Belle: So, the plan was to seduce me into telling you where Sami is? Not to mention the money.

Chad: Right. I did that. I own it, and there's no way I can make up for it, but just so you know, I am very sorry.

Belle: So you said you were here to warn me.

Chad: I did my best to make my father and André believe you were in the dark so they should leave you alone, but I would still watch my back.

Belle: Why? You said you thought they believed you.

Chad: I think they do right now while I'm under their control, but they could still come at you from a different angle. Don't trust anybody, belle.

[Soft dramatic music]

Ava: [Coughs] [Coughs]

Steve: Ava?

Ava: [Coughs] Oh, Steve, hi. What a surprise. [Coughing]

Belle: So, what? This is your latest ploy?

Chad: I'm sorry?

Belle: You know, I was bad, but now I'm good, so trust me?

Chad: No. No more games. I'm dead serious about this, belle. Now, I can't make up for what I did, but believe me when I say be careful. Sami stole a hell of a lot of money and they're liable to do anything to get it back.

Belle: So, this is it? You're just out of my life?

Chad: Well...

Belle: "Well," what?

Chad: The thing is, they still think I'm doing what I was told. So, I may have to go through the motions once in a while. Bother you a little, but I'll make sure I'm not a problem. Just never forget: They are. Especially my brother.

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: Oh, well, you're right, André, we, uh--we did make some mistakes when it came to Chad, but the killer was planting evidence, very convincing evidence.

André: And you were doing the very best job you could. Which says a lot about incompetence.

Rafe: [Scoffs]

André: You know what-- never mind. Why don't you just ask your idiotic questions and get out.

Rafe: Well, great. Why don't we start with Stefano? He's still pretty frail, right?

André: Oh, he's not as strong as he used to be, no.

Rafe: I'm sorry to hear that. What about his mind? Has he been having memory problems?

André: Oh, so that's what this is all about.

[Door opens]

Abigail: Hi.

Chad: Hey.

Abigail: Finally. Where have you been?

Chad: I had to take care of some family stuff.

Abigail: Oh. I just got one text saying, "don't worry," so, immediately, obviously, I started worrying.

Chad: I wanted you to be able to get some sleep.

Abigail: I did.

Chad: Yeah?

Abigail: Yeah.

Abigail: Welcome back.

Chad: Good morning to you too. Mm.

Abigail: Um, so when you say you had family stuff to take care of what do you mean?

Chad: Well, I had to put in an appearance for my father and André. You know, keep 'em off my back.

Abigail: How'd you do that?

Chad: I had to act like a robot. I'm pretty sure they bought it, and it felt, actually, kind of cool to play them like they think they're playing me. Guess I'm more DiMera than I thought, eh.

Abigail: Just be careful, Chad.

Chad: Always. How's Thomas?

Abigail: Oh, guess what?

Chad: What?

Abigail: He gets to come home today.

Chad: Really?

Abigail: Mm-hmm.

Chad: It's not too soon?

Abigail: Yeah--no. The nurse said that he just has to stay on his meds for, like, a couple weeks and he's good to go. Isn't that great?

Chad: Yes. Ooh, speak of the devil.

Abigail: [Gasps] Oh, hi. Hey there, little man.

I have somebody who says he wants to go home.

Abigail: Well, then I think his daddy should take him.

Chad: Whoa, okay. Uh... [Chuckles nervously]

Abigail: Okay.

Chad: Hi.

[Baby gurgling]

Chad: Oh, it's okay. It's okay. Hey. That's Mommy.

[Soft music]

Ava: [Coughing]

Steve: You okay?

Ava: Yeah. I just-- [Clears throat] Something in my throat, but, you know, it's not one of my good ones.

Steve: Sorry?

Ava: You know how sick people are always saying they have the good days, the bad days.

Steve: Right. Listen, um-- have you checked out any other treatments?

Ava: Um...

Steve: I mean, they're always coming out with something new. Aren't they?

Ava: Yeah, they are. I've checked into them. I mean, I am part of a drug test, right now, as we speak.

Steve: Good.

Ava: Mm. Anyway, right now I'm just concentrating on one last thing I have to take care of. You know, before... before I die.

Steve: What is it you need to take care of?

Ava: Um... I just have to-- never mind. [Giggles] It's always really good to see you, and I can't thank you enough for forgiving me. Please give my best to Kayla.

Steve: Ava?

[Indistinct chatter]

[Soft jazz music]

Belle: Wait, you didn't go home?

Philip: My dad's so upset about Daniel and Brady, I knew he wouldn't want me working. So I just--hey, you okay?

Belle: Yeah. No, I'm fine. My mom texted. Eric and Brady are fine. I'm just trying to get my folks something decent to eat.

Philip: Sit down. What are you worried about?

Belle: Who says I'm worried?

Philip: I do.

Something to do with Chad DiMera.

Belle: [Exhales sharply]

Philip: Thought so.

Belle: It's not really Chad.

Philip: Then what? Come on, belle, I saw you check this place out like there were spies in all the shadows. What's going on? You need a friend. I'm right here.

Belle: You have to promise not to tell anyone, ever.

Philip: Got it, promise.

Belle: Sami... stole from Stefano DiMera.

Philip: Really? [Laughs] Good for her. How much?

Belle: Philip, this is not funny. It was $500 million.

Philip: No way.

Belle: Yes way, and now she's gone. Like, completely. Stefano can't find her, but neither can my dad.

Philip: Wow. So the DiMeras sent Chad after you to get you to tell them where Sami is?

Belle: Right, but... now he's turned on them and he's warning me instead.

Philip: Really?

Belle: Yeah.

Philip: You sure he's not just doing a little head fake on you?

Belle: No, I'm not sure of anything right now. [Scoffs] Especially not even what to do with--

Philip: What?

[Dramatic music]

Belle: The thing is, Sami put half of that money in a bank account down in the Caribbean in my name, and told me I could do whatever I want with it.

Philip: That's what I call sisterly love.

Belle: [Scoffs] Philip, I can't keep it. So, I was thinking I would give my half back to Stefano and then I'm out of it for good.

Philip: You're kidding, right? If Stefano finds out that you have half, he'll do whatever he can to get Sami to give back the other half. Including hurting you, your family--anybody you care about.

Belle: So...

Philip: Keep the money. Sit on it. Stay quiet. Don't worry. I'll protect you.

Abigail: [Clears throat] You got a lot of food, didn't you?

Chad: You've been up all night. You must be starving.

Abigail: Yeah, I couldn't even think about food last night.

Chad: It's hard to believe everything you've gone through. I know how much you cared about Daniel Jonas.

Abigail: Yeah, he was the-- [Chuckles softly] He was really important to my mom and... to me and my brother also... [Sighs] But my mom's okay and, you know, Eric and Brady have a chance now.

Chad: Our little guy's on the mend.

Abigail: Yes, he is.

Chad: He gave me my breakthrough. God knows what I'd still be doing with André's voice in my head.

Abigail: Chad, do you really remember everything? I mean, it all came back to you?

Chad: All those nights. What André did--my father. Ben... you and me. It was like someone just hit a switch. Let there be light.

Abigail: [Sighs] Wow, so what happens when your family finds out that you're not who they think you are? I mean, they'll turn on you, right?

Chad: That's exactly why I'm not gonna tell them. Not until they finally give up this obsession with Sami and all that damn money. Otherwise we'd all be in danger. No, I gotta make them think that they're still in control.

Rafe: It's just a question, André.

André: No, it's not. You're probing to see if I know anything about the serum that Caroline Brady was given. Perhaps my father could use it as well.

Rafe: I didn't say that.

André: Who sent you? Hope Brady?

Rafe: No.

André: I heard that she's blaming my family for all the tortures of the damned that her husband had experienced before he died.

Rafe: You still haven't answered my question. How's your father doing?

André: Oh, he's doing very well. Thank you, and thank you for asking. Oh, your ten minutes are up. Good-bye. What? Oh, certainly you don't want me to call the Salem police department, do you?

Rafe: Hm. I know it's a real bummer for you when your family gets blamed for things you don't think are your fault, so... if you happen to think of anything, like, for instance: Who put the screws to Bo Brady or who really pulled the trigger and killed Seth Malcolm. I know you wouldn't withhold any evidence from me.

André: [Exhales sharply]

[Dramatic music]

Hope: [Sighs]

[Soft music]

Kayla: Steve? Steve?

[Soft music]

Steve: You're awake.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: You leaving already?

Kayla: Well, pretty soon. You know, I already had a pretty busy day planned and now with Eric and Brady I--

Steve: Yeah. Come here, come here. So, any word about them?

Kayla: Yeah, everything seems to be on track.

Steve: Good.

Kayla: Where were you?

Steve: Well, I went to check on hope. She's been cutting herself off lately.

Kayla: That's not a good sign.

Steve: No. On the way home I ran into Ava.

Kayla: Lucky you.

Steve: Ah... when she walked away I guess she dropped these out of her purse.

Kayla: Who's baby is this?

Steve: I don't know. Ava's?

[Stereo playing upbeat music]

Ava: Hm. Shower time.

Thomas: [Whimpers] [Babbles]

Chad: Phew. [Chuckles] False alarm. [Sighs]

Abigail: Yeah, you're right. Oh, my God.

[Both laugh]

Abigail: Oh, we just jumped up like that. I think that's called first time parent syndrome.

Chad: Mm-hmm. Well, I'll take it any day. I mean, it's so amazing just to say the words, "my son." And after everything that's happened, you know... trauma for everybody, I feel guilty being this happy. But you know what? I want to make sure that our little guy grows up to be just as happy as we are right now.

Abigail: He will. Because he's gonna grow up and know that he has two parents who love him.

Chad: And each other.

[Soft music]

Belle: Philip, I'm trusting you, so I'm really counting on you to keep this quiet.

Philip: Not a word. Guaranteed.

Belle: Good. And this whole idea that you're gonna be my protector or whatever, I'm really not up for that. With Chad and his stunts, and Shawn, and the divorce, I'm really not up for much of anything, okay?

Philip: Got it. But, belle, I mean it. F you need help, if you see trouble coming, my phone's always on.

[Phone ringing]

Rafe: [Sighs]

[Somber music]

No... oh, my God. Daniel.

Hope: Get your father down here now!

[Tense music]
