Provided By Suzanne
Victor: You know, I still don't understand why Daniel had to take parker to Chicago.
Maggie: So he could be with his mother on Christmas.
Justin: Oh. How is parker?
Maggie: Oh, he's wonderful.
Philip: Here you go, dad. It's for you. Merry Christmas.
Victor: Not very heavy.
["O come all ye faithful"]
Philip: Those papers were signed late last night. You now own Manchester industries.
Justin: I guess it beats a partridge in a pear tree.
Philip: I knew you'd been after it for a while. Took some doing, but I closed the deal.
Victor: Oh, thank you, Philip.
Justin: Well, it's not an industry, but the boys hope you like it. Sonny got this in Paris. It's a first edition of browning's translation of the "Agamemnon." They all chipped in.
Victor: Oh, they shouldn't have wasted their money.
Maggie: That's his way of saying he loves it. And them.
Brady: Uh, excuse me, is this a private party or can anybody just join in?
Brady: You know what they say, everybody. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.
Caroline: Oh, there you are. I've been looking all over for you.
Theresa: Oh, grandma, hi. Oh, God, I'm sorry. I know I'm a terrible mother and a terrible person but I just don't have time for Christmas, okay? I have to have my line ready by new year's eve and I'm hoping it doesn't completely suck, which it does.
Caroline: You know, you always did get cranky when you were hungry, so here. If you can't come to Christmas breakfast, it comes to you. [Laughs]
Theresa: Thank you, I--
Caroline: Oh, yes.
Theresa: I thought you were coming to yell at me.
Caroline: Why should I yell at you? For working hard? You think I didn't work at Christmas? Huh. Well. And there, my dear, that does not suck.
Theresa: Yeah, you have to say that 'cause you're my grandma. Hey, I'm sorry, I-I started your needlepoint bookmark again this year as your present and I just--I got sidetracked by all this, so....
Caroline: My present is going to be the standing ovation that you get at the end of the fashion show.
Theresa: Well, from your lips to god's ears.
Andre: Ah, it's fortuna, the roman goddess of fortune and luck.
Stefano: Not necessarily good luck.
Andre: All right, father, I know we're going through hard times. But our fortunes are going to change. I mean, you've seen already how Chad is obeying all the subliminal commands that I give him. And he spent Christmas eve with belle.
Abigail: I don't care if they're not seeing anyone. They're gonna see me, damn it.
Andre: What the hell?
Abigail: I know what the two of you are up to and I'm going to put a stop to it right now.
Steve: Mmm. I thought I smelled muffins.
Kayla: Hey, not so fast, hot stuff.
Kayla: Where were you all night?
Steve: I wasn't out all night.
Kayla: Okay, it's splitting hairs. Okay, 2 A.M.
Steve: I texted you that I would be late.
Kayla: Yeah, but you didn't say why. Were you out helping Santa pack his sleigh? Or maybe you were closing one pub and then another pub. Or maybe you were singing Christmas carols in the street.
Steve: I'm not going to lie to you. I wasn't out drinking. I went to see Ava.
Kayla: Just what I wanted for Christmas. You spending Christmas eve with the psycho who killed my father.
Steve: I'm sorry, baby. I just needed to see what's going on with Ava and make sure she's not a threat to us now.
Kayla: You don't think that maybe you're playing into her hands? Ugh, I just hate the way that woman makes me feel. She's dying and I hate her. She's got leukemia and I feel like I'm being manipulated by her. [Sighs] All right. Enough of my rant. What did she say?
Steve: Well, it didn't go the way I expected it to. I want the truth, Ava... about why you came back. And I don't want that forgiveness crap. The truth.
Ava: Okay, the truth. Look, the truth is... when I was in my doctor's office and he gave me the news, I was shocked. I was shocked and I was frightened. But I wasn't afraid of dying. I was afraid of dying alone.
Steve: So you came to us? Why?
Ava: Because. Because if... look, and I know, I know it's almost impossible, but if you could forgive me, if Kayla could, then maybe I wouldn't be so very, very alone in this world. I didn't realize that if you let evil into your heart, it's like a solitary confinement. You have no connection with other people.
I did very, very terrible things and now I'm all alone.
Kayla: You believed her? You actually believe that liar?
The beloved grilled
Steve: I love you.
Kayla: No, no, don't try to butter me up.
Steve: I'm not. You're so much like your mom.
Steve: You have such a huge heart, but you're not one bit sentimental.
Kayla: I am sentimental. I am sentimental about Christmas and puppies and kittens, but I am not sentimental about Ava Vitali and I never will be.
Steve: What if she's changed?
Kayla: Oh, come on, just because she's dying, that doesn't mean that she's changed.
Steve: Sweetness, what I'm trying to figure out is if we forgive her--
Kayla: Are you nuts?
Steve: If we forgive her, will she move on and get out of our lives?
Kayla: I wouldn't keep my hopes up if I were you. She says that she wants to earn your forgiveness... which means that she wants to be around us. Well, I don't want that. I--I don't want to help her earn her hospice merit badge.
Steve: Okay, do you--don't think there's any possibility that she's changed?
Kayla: I don't know. I have no idea, actually. All I know is that I haven't changed. She is responsible for my father's death and I will never forgive her for that.
Caroline: This is beautifully done, Theresa.
Theresa: Kate didn't think so.
Caroline: Who cares what Kate thinks?
Theresa: I just don't want to screw this up.
Caroline: Listen, if your other designs are as good as this, you've got nothing to worry about.
Caroline: Oh, that's roman. He's going to drop you off on his way to the station, so I've got to go.
Theresa: Oh, hey, listen, grandma.
Caroline: Yes, dear, all right.
Theresa: Thank you so much for thinking of me, okay?
Caroline: Oh, well, if you need me, you know, I'm staying with victor and Maggie.
Theresa: Really, why?
Caroline: Well, victor's been very protective of me since I've been in the hospital.
Theresa: Oh. Okay, well, good luck with that. I know from experience living in that house is no walk at the beach, so...
Maggie: Oh, Brady. How did you know I needed a new one?
Brady: Oh, Henderson told me a story about someone running the old one with a metal spoon in it.
Victor: No one said you couldn't.
Maggie: Well, you thank Theresa for me. It's a shame she couldn't be here.
Victor: Yeah, it's a crying shame. Won't seem like Christmas without her.
Justin: Your grandfather's being especially cranky this morning.
Justin: Rare vsop. Too good for the likes of me, I'm afraid. Thank you.
Brady: You're welcome. Please drink responsibly. Merry Christmas.
Justin: Merry Christmas.
Philip: Brady, thanks.
Maggie: Oh, what did you get, Philip?
Philip: Four Blackhawk tickets. Center ice.
Brady: I thought we would have a guys' night out. Celebrate you coming home.
Maggie: Well, that sounds wonderful. Victor, what did you get?
Victor: Well, I don't know. Let's see.
["Angels we have heard on high"]
Victor: Where'd you get this?
Brady: Tracked down a coin collector in patras and I told him what you had said about it and he knew exactly what I was talking about. If you look, it was minted in the year that you were born.
Philip: So it's an antique.
Victor: Thank you. Ef charisto.
Abigail: I know that the two of you have done something to make Chad turn on me. I know you have.
Andre: Huh. How do we spell "paranoid"?
Abigail: I'm not paranoid. I know that I'm right. You're threatening him or blackmailing him or something. I know you're--
Chad: You're wrong. I make my own decisions and I decided that we're over.
Victor: You know, my father had one just like this. Got lost somewhere along the way.
Brady: Well, my hope is that it brings you luck.
Caroline: Hello, hello.
Maggie: Oh, Caroline, dear. Merry Christmas. Oh, my goodness.
Caroline: Merry Christmas, dear. Victor: Merry Christmas, Caroline.
Caroline: It's so nice of you to have me.
Maggie: Oh, stop.
Victor: Caroline's going to be staying with us.
Brady: Hey, merry Christmas.
Philip: Because of the serum?
Victor: Not now.
Brady: Merry Christmas.
Caroline: Yay, oh, merry Christmas.
Victor: Can I get you some coffee?
Maggie: How about some breakfast?
Caroline: Oh, no, no, I'm fine, thank you.
Maggie: We are just so glad that you changed your mind about staying with us.
Maggie: I've got your room all ready. I'll help you get settled in.
Victor: It's okay, I'll take care of that.
Victor: Follow me.
Victor: So, why did you change your mind?
Caroline: I had another vision of you. And you were grabbing your chest.
Victor: Caroline, there is nothing wrong with my heart. I had it checked again yesterday. And, remember, you're not here to worry about me. You're here for us to take care of you.
Caroline: Well, okay.
Steve: You know, it occurred to me that being a guy who's asked for forgiveness more than a few times, I'd be something of a hypocrite if I didn't try to forgive Ava.
Kayla: You have never done anything like the things that she's done.
Steve: No, maybe not. But you know what they say about forgiveness? It benefits the one giving it more than the one receiving it. Kayla, I don't want to carry around a load of anger and resentment. It's like a poison. Especially now, baby, when things are so good. I just don't want the past hanging over us today. Do you?
Kayla: All right, I'll-- I'll think about it. I'm not making any promises.
Joey: Merry Christmas, guys.
Kayla: Merry Christmas.
Joey: Was Santa here?
Steve: Looks like.
Joey: What's going on?
Steve: Ah. Your mom and I are having a fight. She says muffins first. I say presents.
Joey: Watch me multi-task.
Abigail: Chad, this isn't you. I know that something is wrong with you. This can never be you. I want to speak to Chad alone.
Andre: And people in hell want ice water.
Chad: No, she's right. We need to speak alone.
Andre: Whatever you say.
Well. Merry Christmas.
Stefano: And a happy new year.
Abigail: Okay. Your family's gone. Chad, tell me, you're just doing this to protect me from them, right?
Chad: I already told you, that's not true.
Abigail: Well, then what? You're just--they're blackmailing you? They're threatening you? I mean, what is it? We can fight them together, just like we--
Chad: No one's making me do anything I don't want to do.
Abigail: At the Salem inn you told me that you loved me and you said that you and Thomas and I were going to be a family together. And the next morning--the next morning--you say it's over?
I know you still love me, Chad. I know you do.
Here's a little healthy advice.
Victor: So hope and Ciara were there for the breakfast?
Victor: How did they seem?
Caroline: Well, walking through it. Like most of us. There was a special prayer for bo at midnight mass and we started singing "silent night" and Ciara burst out sobbing.
Victor: Christmas. This day, it's almost worse than the funeral.
Caroline: I know.
Maggie: I'm going to put on a fresh pot of coffee.
Caroline: Maggie, I'm sorry.
Maggie: Oh, don't be, Caroline, please. I'm glad you're here.
Caroline: She is so kind. I, uh, I left my phone upstairs. I wanted to take some pictures.
Victor: One of the boys will get it.
Caroline: I think I need a moment. A moment alone.
Philip: So here's what I know: People will pay through the nose for a drug that lets them see the future.
Brady: Yeah, Philip, it really worked with Caroline. Did you see how happy she was today?
Philip: Okay, but she's here, isn't she? She's alive because of that drug.
Justin: Can't wait for that Blackhawks game. Maybe we can fight about the serum there, too.
Philip: Hopefully it will be approved by then. We have to fast-track that testing.
Victor: Philip, I will say this one more time. Do nothing for now. If these visions are a side effect of this drug, we have to be damned careful.
Philip: Whatever you say, dad.
Victor: That's right.
Chad: You continue to embarrass yourself, Abigail. Once again, I only told you I loved you because you were going through a horrific ordeal. My love died for you the day you chose Ben over me. You chose a psychopath over me and now you have his child, so we both have to live with your choices. I don't want you in my life anymore. If you continue to bother me, I will speak to my lawyer, belle Brady, the woman you accosted last night, and I will have her take out a restraining order on you. Do you understand me? [Slaps]
Kayla: Well, try to get back soon, okay, honey? Stephanie says "merry Christmas again."
Both: Merry Christmas.
Steve: It was good talking to you.
Kayla: [Laughs] Did you hear all that? Okay. Listen, thanks for those pictures, too. I loved them. Okay, baby, I love you. Bye bye.
Steve: Wow. Son of a gun. Looks like we forgot one.
Kayla: Where was that?
Steve: It was in my pocket.
[Kayla exhales sharply]
Joey: Dad, that's one weird-looking ring.
Kayla: Very unusual.
Steve: Well, I had it made from what was left of the bullet that almost killed me at Stockholm.
Joey: Well, it's one of a kind.
Kayla: You had it made into a ring?
Steve: Yeah. I know it might seem silly, but remember when it happened? I told you to stay away. It was too dangerous being with me, but you just got on a plane and you came straight to me, to be with me, and I thought this ring would remind you of how that brought us even closer. And how nothing and no one can keep us apart... can keep us from loving each other.
Will you marry me, sweetness? Here's a little healthy advice.
Theresa: [Scoffs] They're right. Kate's right. I'm going to screw this up like everything else I've ever done. [Sighs]
Caroline: That's okay. I stopped by to see Theresa. She was exhausted.
Brady: Yeah, I know. She's been driving herself pretty hard lately.
Brady: I'm going to bring this little guy by and he always seems to calm her down. Uh, merry Christmas, everybody. I got to go.
Maggie: Oh, my goodness. Bye, sweetie. Aw.
Victor: Brady, thank you for the coin.
Brady: You're welcome. Should I give Theresa your best?
Victor: Not a hypocrite, not even on Christmas.
Brady: Of course. Enjoy the juice.
Maggie: Thank you.
Brady: Okay. Bye bye.
Maggie: Bye, merry Christmas.
Brady: Come on, buddy. [Groans]
Maggie: Victor, would it have killed you to say something nice?
Philip: Hey, dad, look. Titan stock went up in the Asian markets. I think it's the new acquisition. I leaked word of it late last night.
Victor: I don't want to talk business on Christmas.
Philip: [Sighs] I should have gotten him a coin.
Joey: Mom. I think that's your cue to say "yes."
Kayla: Sweetie, I can't say yes just because you want me to.
Steve: How about because we love each other?
Kayla : It's not that simple.
Steve: I think it is.
Joey: I think I need to take something to the kitchen. This will do.
Steve: Looks like he left us alone to talk about this.
Kayla: I'll talk about it. You say this ring is about a time that brought us close together. To me, it reminds me of a time where I almost lost you.
Steve: But you didn't. Your love pulled me through.
Kayla: Sometimes it's just not enough. Ask hope.
Steve: You're afraid I'll break your heart again.
Kayla: I would just take it slow. You came back here, you moved in. See how it goes. Okay?
Kayla: All right, um, we'll talk about it some more later, okay? Um, we should get to that party. Joey. You need to get ready for the party.
Steve: Hey, do you mind if we meet you there? We have a stop to make first.
Joey: Where are we going?
Steve: It's a surprise. Come on.
Abigail: This isn't you, Chad. You are not that cold. You're not that deliberately cruel.
Chad: If you don't like the way you're being treated, then why don't you stay away?
Abigail: Because I'm going to find the man who saved my life, the man who told me a bedtime story just to help me fall asleep. The man who trusted me with--
Abigail: The man who trusted me with his own life. You remember when I took you to the cabin? We took care of each other, Chad. I know this isn't you. And I don't know what's going on but I'm going to figure it out, because I am never giving up on us, ever.
Brady: Looks like you could use a bunch of elves or something.
Theresa: Oh. Hi.
Theresa: Hi, Tate. Hi. Aw.
Brady: I packed you an overnight bag. Thought you might be here most of the night, so...
Theresa: No, no, you know what? I should just go home. I'm going to go home. I just can't do this, Brady. Kate's right. I'm way, way over my head.
Brady: No, you're not. No, you're not. Listen to me, listen to me. Kate--I won't talk about Kate. Kate's full of it, all right? I know you can do this. This little guy, he wants you to do this. You keep working. And know that we believe in you. Okay?
Maggie: Ah. Hi. Hi. Hello. Well, guess what? Santa's got the flu.
Caroline: Or a hangover.
Maggie: We need a stand-in.
Victor: Never again.
Both: He'll do it.
Maggie: Oh, fine, I'll just tell the sick children that Santa couldn't make it. I mean, it's time they grew up, right? Lived in the real world?
Justin: Maggie, I hate you very much.
Maggie: [Laughs] Ah, the Santa suit's in the on-call room. Thank you so much. Ah.
Philip: I'll give you a hand.
Justin: Oh boy.
Philip: Don't worry, I'll take lots of pictures.
Maggie: Oh good, please. Ah, now, Santa. Oh! Here they are.
Maggie: So where-- where's Chad?
Abigail: It's a long story.
Victor: Well, then, it'll have to wait. It's show time.
Maggie: Oh, they asked me to read the Christmas story this year. Wish me luck.
Victor: Just stick to the script. You'll be fine.
Maggie: Okay. Well, hello. Hi. How are you all? All: Good.
Maggie: Well, we have a little bit of a wait here, so do you mind if I read you a Christmas story?
Maggie: Oh, good! Okay, um, I need glasses. See, let's see here. Now, here we go. Now... "now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and the family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child."
Steve: I don't want to carry around a load of anger and resentment. It's like a poison. Especially now when life is so good. I don't want the past hanging over us today, do you?
Kayla: Is that what's happening?
Joey: You just found it?
Steve: Yeah, amazing, right? Yeah, I told bo it was like walking into a dirty old shed in Kansas and finding the "Mona Lisa." Yeah, you hang out with bo long enough, crazy things happen. The dude did not lead a boring life.
Joey: You really miss him, don't you?
Steve: I do. You know, um, we were going to share this bike, but when bo found out he wasn't going to be around much longer, he wanted me to have it.
Steve: I fixed her up a little bit. I realized I don't want to ride anymore. Too many memories.
Joey: So what, you think you're going to sell it?
Steve: Yeah. Well, I thought I'd give it to a really good kid I know. Keep it in the family.
Joey: Are you serious? It's like getting the "Mona Lisa" for Christmas.
Steve: You're going to take good care of it, right?
Joey: Yeah, you know I will.
Steve: Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on, hang on. Listen to me. You're going to have to pass the motorcycle driving class, pass the test, and get a helmet before you can even get on this thing.
Joey: Yeah. Sure, I'll do it tomorrow.
Steve: Good. Listen, um, I would like to keep this between us for now.
Joey: What, you don't think mom's going to be thrilled that you gave it to me?
Steve: I don't want to find out.
Joey: Dad, thanks.
Steve: Merry Christmas, dude.
Joey: Merry Christmas.
Steve: I love you.
Joey: I love you too.
[Knocking at door]
Kayla: Well, you have good timing. If ever there was a day to ask for forgiveness for the unforgiveable, it would be Christmas day.
Ava: I-- I don't understand.
Kayla: I'm not sure I do either. I'm just trying not to listen to the voices in my head that say that this is a big mistake and just listen to what Steve said.
Ava: Steve told you about last night?
Kayla: Yes, he talked about forgiveness and hatred and--well, I hate it when he's right.
Ava: So you're forgiving me?
Kayla: I'm trying to.
Ava: I can't believe it. I never thought you would.
Kayla: Neither did I, but it's Christmas and I am trying to be a good person.
Ava: You are.
Kayla: But I'm not a pushover, and I will watch you like a hawk, and if I even get a hint that you are playing us--
Ava: I'm not, I swear I'm not. Thank you. Thank you so much.
Kayla: Please, please, please. Don't make me regret it.
Kayla: [Sighs] Here's a little healthy advice.
Andre: Don't let her get to you. She's not worth it. All that matters is your family. La famiglia.
Maggie: What a pleasure it was to read the Christmas story to all of you. I am so touched and so grateful that you all sat there so quietly. And patiently. My goodness. So, now we're still waiting for Santa.
Maggie: No sign of him yet.
Steve: Hey, there's your grandma.
Joey: Merry Christmas, grandma.
Caroline: Oh, merry Christmas! Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.
Steve: Merry Christmas, mom.
Caroline: [Kisses] Oh, thanks.
Steve: Kayla's not here yet?
Caroline: Oh, no, not yet.
Maggie: Oh, look, everyone! Santa's here!
Maggie: Jolly Santa is here.
Justin: Ho ho ho! Anybody want a present?
Justin: Yay! Here we go.
Victor: As expected, you were brilliant. Merry Christmas, Mrs. Kiriakis.
Justin: Let me just dump the presents back here.
Philip: Look what I found for you.
Caroline: Oh. Oh, thank you, Philip. Thank you. Merry Christmas. Ha.
Justin: So where is Olivia?
Brady: You know you, uh, left so early this morning that I didn't get a chance to give you this.
Theresa: Brady, I'm sorry. I have a gift for you too. It's at home.
Brady: You don't need to get me a gift. Just open your gift. Just a little something.
Theresa: Okay. Oh.
Brady: Open the inside. I think you'll see a familiar face in there.
Theresa: Oh! Oh, Brady, I love it.
Brady: I was hoping you would. Here. I thought it would be a nice little reminder of why you're doing this. Because you want to make your son proud, and you will.
Theresa: Hey. Thank you.
Brady: Now before we go, I want you to look me in the eye and you tell me that you can do this.
Brady: You can do it.
Theresa : Mmm, you believe in me and I can.
Brady: Good girl.
Justin: Away in a manger
All: No crib for a bed the little lord Jesus lay down his sweet head the stars in the sky look down where he lay the little lord Jesus asleep on the hay
Steve: So where have you been?
Kayla: Well, first of all, I um, I thought about what you said and I went to see Ava.
Steve: Is she still standing?
Kayla: I forgave her. Wasn't easy but I, um, I really tried.
[Singing continues in next room]
Steve: Sweetness. I admire you and I love you.
Kayla: Well, you're so good with words, and I kept hearing your voice talking about anger and resentment and forgiveness. And then I also heard you talk about love and marriage and family and... I do.
Steve: Does this mean what I think it means?
["What child is this?"]
Kayla: Mm, oh God, I'm going to marry you all over again.
Steve: Oh, baby. Oh, baby. Oh. Oh, I can't believe it.
Kayla: I love you.
Steve: I love you, too.
Come here, Joe.
Kayla: Group hug.
Steve: Give me a hug. Come on.
Kayla: [Laughs] Group hug.
