Andre: Oh, Father's not doing well. At all. That heart attack caused him to be weaker than he lets on. Just in case you care. I'm just making sure you're not faking it. You know, those murder charges you're facing are causing, which means that you are causing a great deal of stress on father's heart. I just have to make sure that that comes to an end. Soon.
Hope: Oh, my gosh! You're here, you're really here! [Smooching] Let me look at you. Oh, my gosh. You just get more handsome. I had no idea that you were going to be here for my wedding.
Shawn: Yeah, well, it was a surprise.
Shawn: I had a little encouragement.
Julie: [Laughing] I thought you deserved a wonderful surprise. Do I get a hug? Yeah. Talk about a sight for sore eyes.
Doug: Oh, Shawn-Douglas.
Doug: It's so wonderful to see you.
Shawn: Oh, great to see you.
Shawn: Missed you.
Doug: Welcome back to Salem.
Shawn: Yeah, thank you. Thank you.
Hope: Okay, now, I know that you spotted my fiancÚ the minute you walked in here, but now it's time the two of you got formally introduced. Let's go. Aiden Jennings...
Hope: This is my very handsome son... Shawn Brady.
Aiden: Pleasure, Shawn. Nice for you to come.
Steve: Hey! How about some food? You can't torture us and starve us! Come on, man, isn't there something in the Geneva convention about that? Hey!
Bo: Tell me something, Steve. Is this what you call a rescue? [Scoffs]
Steve: Uh-huh, you think I came down here looking for you? No way. I came for the cuisine. This place has the best porterhouse south of the border.
Bo: Something tells me they're under new management.
Steve: Yeah, could be.
Bo: You know, I thought for sure this was a safe house.
Steve: Yeah, me too. Until they started in on the unsafe practice of torturing me. [Chuckles]
Bo: So you did come hounding down here to rescue me, huh?
Steve: Oh, man, you are so full of yourself. I told you I came for a steak.
Bo: Mm-hmm. Good to see you, too.
Steve: Likewise, buddy.
Steve: Yeah, you know, you were a little bit hard to find.
Bo: Yeah. Been doing just a touch of traveling.
Steve: Oh, apparently, yeah. You know, I met some of your buddies at that, uh, old monastery/prison.
Bo: Oh, yeah. Those guys are a barrel of laughs.
Steve: Kinda like our hosts here.
Bo: Yeah. You know who they are?
Steve: No, you?
Bo: Well, I got a feeling they're, uh, after me for the same reason all those other guys. You see, I've been working on this--
Steve: The drug you and Victor had, uh, Dr. Salinas develop for your mom's condition.
Bo: Oh, someone's been doing their homework.
Steve: I have. But I still have a million questions.
Bo: Well, we will get to those right after we start working.
Steve: Oh, you found a job for us?
Bo: Yeah. Getting our sorry asses out of here.
Steve: Oh, yeah, that's a good idea.
Shawn: Aiden Jennings.
Shawn: So we meet.
Aiden: Yeah. About time, right? Your mom's told me quite a bit about you. You and your wife, your daughter.
Hope: Is, um--did Belle come with you, and Claire?
Shawn: She wanted to. Uh, Claire got pneumonia, actually, so...
Julie: Oh, no.
Shawn: No, no, she's fine. She's fine. She's actually almost entirely well. Doctor just didn't think it would be a good idea for her to fly, so...
Aiden: It's great that you were able to make it. Now you made your mom really happy.
Shawn: Mr. Jennings...
Aiden: Oh, please, call me Aiden.
Shawn: Aiden, yeah, whatever. Look, um... I'm sure you're a really great guy. But I really hope you're not expecting me to be on board with this marriage thing, 'cause just to be honest, I don't think it's remotely a good idea.
Aiden: May I ask why?
Shawn: Yeah, 'cause you're no Bo Brady. You never will be. Rianomes, letet I hear me.
Andre: I know you can hear me. At least some of the time. I came by tonight to give you some advice, little brother, about family. Since you didn't grow up with father guiding or giving you advice, I'm not quite sure you're going to understand. But to be a DiMera, you have to be many things. Competitive. Ambitious. Ruthless. [Chuckles] Charming. But above all, you need to understand what it takes to be part of our family, and I'm not quite sure you've got what it takes. I think an excellent decision would be for you to stay in the coma. Forever. Or better still... die.
Joey: You get that flashlight app yet?
Ricky: Yeah, why?
Joey: 'Cause I'm about to turn out all the lights in the library.
Joey: Say good night, nerds. [Chuckles] There you are. How does it feel in there? Dark enough for you?
Ricky: Totally, dude. Man, I can't believe you just killed all the lights in the library.
Kayla: I can't believe it, either.
Bo: So Dr. Salinas and his team needed all these exotic plants out of the rain forest. [Breathing heavily] I need a break. Let me tell you something. It's not exactly a vacation spot. I mean, what's that saying? Um, "kill one mosquito, and a thousand others come to its funeral." And the snakes? Don't even get me started on the snakes.
Steve: Okay. Well, this is me scratching the Amazon off my bucket list.
Bo: Yeah, but...[Grunts] I need to talk about Salem, and Hope, and my daughter.
Steve: Yeah, well, Hope and Ciara are both fine.
Bo: Oh, man, I bet Ciara's just taller than anything right now.
Steve: Oh, she turned into a very pretty young woman.
Bo: Just like her mama. Sometimes I was going crazy not being able to see them and know how they were doing. [Exhales sharply] [Grunts] After a while, I... I don't know, I just lost track of time being locked up in that cage, never seeing the light of day. Dreaming about getting out of there, figuring a way to get out of there. That's gonna happen with you and I right now. We're gonna get back to Salem.
Steve: Damn straight we are.
Bo: When we get there, I'm gonna put my arms around my girls, never let 'em go. [Grunts] What? Come on. Let's--
Steve: Bo, uh...
Bo: What, man?
Steve: Hope's getting married.
Hope: How dare you say something like that!
Shawn: What--what am I supposed to do? You want me to act like everything's cool when it's not? At least not to me.
Julie: Darling, you could speak in a more civil manner, please.
Shawn: Yeah, no, you're right, you're--you're right. It probably didn't come out the right way. I tend to be a little too honest sometimes. Get that from my mother.
Aiden: Yeah, you do. I like that about her. She's honest, direct. I like that about you, too. Look, Shawn, you're right. I'm not your father. I'm never going to try to be. The only thing I can ask is that you would accept me as part of your mom's life.
Shawn: Yeah, look, uh, Aiden, been trying to do that ever since I found out about this whole wedding thing. And, mom, I want you to be happy. I-I can't do this whole pretending thing, I can't. I just--I can't just pretend like everything is all right. Because when dad left town, he was still in love with you. It's not like he died, so it's really hard for me to wrap my head around this.
Aiden: Hey, look, I-I understand.
Hope: And I understand. I do. I get it, I get it, Shawn. I mean, lord knows you've never made any bones about not wanting me to remarry, and you're entitled to your feelings. You can feel however you want, but so can I. Shawn... this marriage is what I want. And this man beside me is who I want.
Doug: Shawn-Douglas, your mother really had a hard time after your father left.
Hope: He knows that, daddy. He knows how difficult it was for me.
Shawn: Yeah, grandpa, none of this is news, but can I say it's too soon? Is that all right?
Julie: Shawn, you travel all the time. You and belle and Claire go wherever you want, whenever you want. But your mother's life, it's rooted here, in Salem. Her career is here, her family is here. And when your father took off and left her alone, she had to find a whole new way to make her life work.
Hope: He knows that, Julie. He knows all of it. I've told you. How many times did your dad promise he was coming home? How many times, Shawn? But he never did, did he?
Julie: Shawn, I don't see how you can blame your mother...
Shawn: I'm not--I'm not--
Julie: For just wanting to go on with her life.
Shawn: No, I'm not blaming her, okay? This has nothing to do with blame. I just can't imagine how dad would just leave town. Mom, he loved you like crazy.
Hope: I thought so.
Julie: When your mother filed for divorce, she notified your dad, and he never responded.
Hope: So if your idea was to come back to Salem and save this marriage, fix this marriage, you're one parent short, and you're way too late.
Shawn: I... I don't know how many other ways I can say this, but... I just think you need to give him a little more time. Why are you so anxious to just kiss him good-bye?
Shawn: Let me deal with this.
Aiden: You're not doing a very good job of it so far.
Shawn: She's my mother.
[Door opens and closes]
Joey: [Sighs] It's not a big deal, Mom. I just programmed a temp--
Kayla: Of course, it's a big deal. You just turned the electricity off in your school. What are you thinking?
Joey: No, I didn't do that. Relax.
Kayla: No, I-I am not going to relax.
Joey: I just programmed a temporary override, and only in the library. As soon as someone hits a light switch, the program cuts off. Everything goes back to normal. No harm, no foul.
Kayla: Oh, oh, really? Is that a fact? And what if somebody panics in the dark and they-- they get hurt?
Joey: It was just a joke. Why are you freaking out?
Abe: Hey, hey, I just-- what's going on?
Aiden: Well, I'm glad I didn't have this much trouble with my son. [Chuckles]
Julie: So, uh, chase is excited about the marriage, huh?
Aiden: Mm, yeah, he's, uh, he's thrilled, actually. Um, he and Ciara have really hit it off, you know? They're really good friends. In fact, he thinks the whole idea is really cool.
Aiden: You know, maybe I should check on Hope. I know Shawn means well, but he really upset her.
Julie: Aiden, the whole family likes you. And Hope loves you. But you need to understand the family mind-set. We all thought that Bo and Hope would just go on forever. They were... one of those couples, you know?
Doug: Shawn-Douglas still lives in that world. So, uh, try not to take it personally.
Aiden: No, no. Of course not.
Shawn: Mom! Mom, would you stop running? Please, stop!
Shawn: Relax, come here. Come here.
Shawn: You know I love you, right? Okay, what I did back there, that was wrong because this is your life. You get to live it the way you want.
Hope: Even if you hate me for it?
Shawn: I don't hate--mom, I could never hate you. Don't say that. Don't say that, it's just--
Hope: I know. I know... it's hard for you to believe that you dad could do something like this.
Shawn: [Chuckles] I guess that it happened, right? I mean, what else can we say?
Hope: He didn't just desert me. He deserted the entire family, Shawn.
Shawn: All right. But there must be some reason why for him just to leave without making any contact.
Hope: I don't have any answers, Shawn! I have nothing! I have nothing to give you! [Sobbing] I thought your dad and I... I thought... we'd be together forever. Truly I did. I don't know, maybe-- I suppose maybe he needed to explore or maybe he felt trapped. Maybe he didn't love me--
Shawn: No, no, mom, there has to be another explanation.
Hope: All I know is that I have been living half a life for years, Shawn, till I met Aiden. And then I felt alive again. He's wonderful, he's kind, he's generous, he's gentle. He loves Ciara. And he loves me. And he wants us to commit, and that's exactly what I want to do. He makes me happy. Till death do us part, honey, right?
Bo: You got a sick sense of humor, you know that? You had me going there for a second.
Steve: I'm not joking. She's gonna get married.
Bo: She--she's not gonna get--we're married.
Steve: You guys are divorced.
Bo: No, we're not.
Steve: Well, that's gonna be news to Hope.
Bo: What are you ta-- you're--you're serious here? She can't get-- she can't get divor--we're-- she'd never divorce me.
Steve: All I know is she got a "dear Jane" letter from you.
Bo: I never sent a letter like that.
Steve: So she filed for divorce.
Steve: Well, but she did. She got one. And I mean, I wasn't there, but from what I heard, she took it real hard. And then she finally met someone and...
Steve: She decided it was time to move on. She notified you, and she waited a long, long time.
Bo: How the hell would she notify me? I was being chased all over Europe, in and out of rain forests, and locked in that cell for god knows how long.
Steve: I don't know what to tell you, man.
Bo: Tell me something. Did you see this letter that I supposedly wrote to her?
Steve: I did. And it was definitely a kiss-off.
Bo: Hey, all right. So someone forged this letter to make her think I wasn't coming back.
Steve: Yeah, meanwhile making sure you were locked up good and tight.
Bo: I mean, someone went to a hell of lot of trouble to make her think I wasn't coming home. Oh, hell, maybe I shouldn't.
Bo: Maybe you shouldn't have come down here. Maybe you should have just let me rot.
Steve: What the hell are you talking about?
Bo: She's the love of my life! If I've lost hope, what's the point of going back?
Steve: Who says you lost her? I said she's going to get married. "Going to." And it's soon. So you can sit around here bellyaching and feel sorry for yourself, or you can help me bust out of this place and get back home before it happens.
Bo: All right, man. Let's do it.
Steve: Let's do it!
Bo: The hell out of here! [Grunting]
Hope: Honey... I know how much you miss your dad. I miss him. I can't understand how he can stay away from his kids though. But you're here, I'm here.
Shawn: And thank god for that.
Shawn: I'm sorry I was such a jerk before with Aiden.
Hope: No, don't, don't. No, don't be. I know how rough this is for you, honey.
Shawn: I think just walking in there and seeing you with that guy, with Aiden... I just had this knee-jerk reaction that you were betraying dad, and I wasn't okay with that, but now hearing you out and understanding how hard it's been for you, and how lonely you'd been, I-I love you, mom. I just--I want to see you happy. That's all.
Hope: Oh, honey. I love you so much. And I can appreciate how... you were being protective of your dad. Why wouldn't you be?
Shawn: Yeah, I would. I don't know, like I said, I-I just understand now after really hearing you out and--and seeing you, how hard this whole thing has been, and now this man, Aiden, he's making you happy. Never thought I'd ever be saying this, but I'm happy that you are moving on. 'Cause you can't be waiting forever. That'd be--that would be unfair to you. So, why don't we get back to the pub, and I can finally get to know this man who's making you so happy?
Joey: Look, the whole thing, it was a joke. My friend just texted me. Everything's back to normal. Lights are all on. Nobody got hurt.
Abe: Then you got lucky. But you still did something foolish, and you broke the law. Do you think that's okay? You think the school computer system is a toy you can play with?
Joey: Wow, another lecture. I get enough of those from my mother.
Joey: Seriously, Mr. Carver, what are you gonna do? Have me arrested?
Abe: [Sighs] No. I'm going to pass this back to your mother. But think, Joey, the next time, the police could get involved. They don't get to hand it off to her. They make an arrest. And your life starts down a very bad road. Good luck.
Kayla: Thank you.
Joey: See? Push came to shove, I walked. No harm, no foul.
Kayla: I am looking at a complete clone of your father.
Steve: [Grunting] [Exhales sharply] What's up, Bo?
Bo: Well, I'm beginning to see why certain things didn't happen.
Bo: Like why no one came looking for me. And Victor had a hell of a lot of money and energy wrapped up in this thing. And when I got jammed up, and they chased me all over god knows where, and then put me in that cell, during all that time--
Steve: Because of that damn letter, nobody tried to find you.
Bo: Right. Except you.
Steve: Bo, there's something you should know.
Bo: What's that?
Steve: Hope didn't divorce you without a hell of a lot of pain. Kayla told me. She said she was like a zombie for months. She was totally heartbroken. You want my opinion? She still loves you.
Bo: Then why'd she divorce me?
Steve: Oh, come on, man. It's not her fault. She's a beautiful woman. It's not her fault that guys started coming around. She was alone. She was abandoned. As far as she was concerned, you were never coming back. Think about it.
Julie: So, look at all these responses for the bicentennial celebration.
Doug: Ha! Oh, that old mansion is going to be bursting at the seams.
Julie: I think it's because everybody relaxed when we found out they'd caught the necktie killer.
Shawn: Aiden, my mom and I talked. I owe you an apology. Guess I can be a real jerk sometimes.
Aiden: Join the club.
Shawn: Just promise me that you're gonna take care of her.
Aiden: I promise I will. Look, maybe you and I could just step outside, have a one-on-one. Think we gotta get a few things straight.
Abe: Well, evening.
Lani: Mr. Mayor. Hi.
Abe: Well, how are things going?
Lani: Fine. [Chuckles] I mean, everyone's been great. Making sure I'm okay. Looking after me.
Abe: Well, it'll take a while before you get up to speed.
Lani: Um, I was just about to go get a soda. Can I get you one?
Abe: No, no, thank you. I'm good.
Lani: I'll be back.
Abe: Well, why are you trying to get information... about me?
Aiden: I get where you're coming from, Shawn. I heard a lot of good things about your dad since I've been in Salem. Guy's practically a legend in this town.
Shawn: Yeah. Yeah, he does have quite the rep.
Aiden: Yeah. Yeah, he does. But look, when I met your mom, I-I saw none of that. I just saw someone who was feeling abandoned. Deserted. She was hurting beyond belief. So I-I get that you love your-- your dad. You're ready to defend him.
Shawn: Yeah. Till the day I die.
Aiden: Good. That's the way it should be. But you need to know something. I love your mom. I want to make her happy. I want to build a life with her. Hey, let me tell you something. I-I look forward to meeting your wife, your daughter. 'Cause I don't just want us to get along. I want us to be a family.
Kayla: How can you be so selfish? You pull some idiotic prank without even thinking for one second that it might be a bad idea. Just so that you can have fun.
Kayla: You know, your dad-- your dad just--one more time. He's just gonna go off, you know, and follow a dream, or a vision or something that your grandmother has. So what? So that he can a super-spy, or a hero...
Kayla: Or the man of the day. You know, wha--well, he might be needed here, you know, with his family. But no, he's just going off to have fun. And you're doing exactly the same thing. Do you have any idea how that makes me feel? I am sorry. I am sorry there is a lot going on right now. Especially with your dad and I. I'm sorry I made it sound like it's all your fault because it is not.
Joey: It's cool. Maybe I kinda deserve it. I do care about our family though. A lot. And I miss dad. I'm scared that...
Joey: This time or next time, whenever he takes off, he'll never come back.
Kayla: Joey. I'm sorry.
Bo: Oh, come on, man. I've been working way too hard to get home to Ciara and Hope. You can't take a break now. Come on, get back at it.
Steve: Right. Let's do this. In fact, I'll make you a promise, brother.
Steve: We will break out of this place and we will get you home! Let's go!
Shawn: Well, this guy must be one hell of a lawyer 'cause he certainly knows how to make his case.
Aiden: Aww, it's an easy thing to do when you're talking about the woman you love.
Shawn: Well, here's another thing to remember. We'll be watching you. 24/7.
Julie: And one false move--
Hope: Oh, come on! Come on, seriously. Give him a break. No, really, he thinks you're serious.
Julie: Well, we are.
Doug: Sweetheart, you and I must leave.
Julie: Right, right.
Aiden: Hey, you know, I'll, uh, I'll walk you out. I have to meet a client, all right?
Hope: Love you.
Julie: Thank you.
Hope: See you later.
Aiden: Nice to meet you.
Aiden: Thanks. All righty, I'll, uh, text you later?
Hope: See you later.
Aiden: All right. Okay, well, thank you so much for coming again, and, uh, see you both tomorrow.
Doug: You bet.
Aiden: All right, have a great night.
Julie: So long.
Aiden: All right.
Lani: Guess you'll be going to that big gala at the bicentennial mansion, huh?
Abe: Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely. How about you?
Lani: Well, I'm kinda new in town, so...
Abe: Oh. Right. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask? About anything?
Lani: Actually, I got a ton of reports to file. Um...have a good night.
Joey: Sorry I messed up.
Kayla: Throw away that program, all right? So you're not tempted to use it again.
Joey: On one condition.
Kayla: What's that?
Joey: Don't say I'm a clone of dad. At least not just the bad stuff.
Joey: I better go tell Ricky not to spread it that I did that. He'll start, uh, giving kids a copy.
Kayla: Yeah, all right. I'll see you later, all right? My god, Steve.
Julie: Kayla, oh, Kayla, there you are, thank goodness. I was just about to call. Come on, darling, let's go. We don't have much time.
Kayla: Oh, right, right.
Bo: You haven't said much about Kay yet. Is my sister still ready to rip your head off, or, uh, have you sweet-talked her into coming around?
Steve: I thought you wanted to work, now you want to gossip?
Bo: Ooh, that bad, huh? Well, guess we better get outta here so you can fix that, huh?
Shawn: So, let me get this straight. Ciara is staying with Julie and grandpa?
Shawn: Yeah, okay.
Hope: Honey, there's plenty of room at the house. Ditch the hotel for god's sake.
Shawn: No way. Are you kidding me? I'm not gonna be around the house when you and Aiden are getting ready for the wedding. There's not a chance. And then there's some friends I want to go see anyways, so...
Hope: Okay, all right. I can't wait for you to see the old martin mansion. It's going to be so beautiful for the gala.
Shawn: Then it'll be perfect for the wedding.
Hope: It will be. It's gonna be perfect. I'm so excited. We're all going to be celebrating Salem's birthday. Come here. I need another hug. [Chuckles]
Andre: Father, we have our favorite visitor. Have you come to pay your debts?
Aiden: Actually, uh, yes. But with something much more valuable to you than cash.
Andre: And what might that be?
Aiden: Chad's freedom.
Andre: We're listening.
Andre: Are you pausing for effect or is this just one of your empty promises?
Aiden: Oh, I hate this.
Andre: Well, of course, you do. Just like we hate bottom-feeding lawyers. Just get on with it.
Aiden: Yes. I will do it.
Andre: Well, of course, you will. For God's sake, how many times do we have to get through with this? You kill Hope, you inherit the money to pay your debts, and that's a given. So how does Chad factor in all of this?
Aiden: All right, look, I-I didn't think I could do it, but I... I will kill Hope, and I will make it look like the necktie killer did it.
Andre: And when will that be?
Aiden: Tomorrow night, our wedding night.
Andre: It would be such delicious irony that the happiest night of her life would be her last. And that Chad would be set free. However...
Aiden: However what? I just promised you--
Andre: Ah, you've made enough promises to sink a battleship, Jennings.
Aiden: So tell me, I will do it, all right? I swear.
Andre: No matter how much you love her?
Aiden: No matter how much. My son's life comes first. Okay, but that is part of the deal. You stay away from my son, chase.
Andre: You know, before you start giving orders, why don't you give us a few more details on how you expect to pull this off? Because the police are going to want proof that this is the work of the necktie strangler. Otherwise, some half-assed copycat kill is not going to convince them.
Aiden: Okay, look, look. I-I can make it look totally authentic. When I first represented Chad, I saw photos of the crime scene. Okay? All of it. How the attacks were, positioning of the bodies, all of it. I also got ahold of a necktie that matches the type of tie the strangler used in all three attacks. The police are going to have no choice but to let Chad go.
Stefano: If you can do it.
Aiden: I can do it. And I will.
Steve: Hey, hey, hey. This looks like the weakest connection right here.
Steve: See if you can find something to work on these bolts, huh?
Steve: Uh, Bo.
Bo: Yeah, what?
Steve: We'll call this one my bad.
Bo: What the heck are you talking about?
Steve: It's a... [Coughs]
Bo: Oh, man. That's a gas line.
Steve: Oh, yeah.
Kayla: Uh, surprise.
Julie: It's your bachelorette party.
Andre: I wonder... if Jennings has the backbone to strangle his new wife on their wedding night?
Andre: I agree. But there are ways to make a man... keep his word.
Stefano: Ahem. Oh.
Aiden: [Sighs] Get off me!
