Andre: We covered your entire debt, and you refuse to help my brother?
Aiden: I mean, do you really think if the evidence against Chad came up missing, the police would just say, "oh, gosh, he's innocent"?
Andre: You get the evidence. We'll handle the police.
Aiden: All right, look, even if I did, I can't see you two just forgetting about the money I owe you.
Andre: Do you realize that your family would be in grave danger if you don't do as we ask? Young chase would be in jeopardy. Think about it.
Aiden: I'll get you the money.
Andre: Well, why don't you ask hope for it? While you're at it, I'm sure she wouldn't mind paying your entire debt to my father. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. You owe much more than hope's liquid assets are worth. But she does have a lovely life insurance policy, which would mean that she would be worth more to you dead than alive. Yeah, but then a man like you, I'm sure, has already figured that out.
Rafe: We buried will Horton today. I know the two of you were friends. The D.A. Thinks that he can convince a jury to charge you for will's murder 'cause will figured out that you attacked Marlena and Serena mason, Paige Larson. I don't really know that much about you, Chad. What I do know, I don't really care for. But I'll tell you one thing, you should be thankful I was reinstated, 'cause I'm about the only damn cop in town who thinks just 'cause you're a son of a bitch, that doesn't automatically make you a serial killer. The problem is, the D.A. Is a Kiriakis and you're a DiMera, so he doesn't really care. But that's not a motive. A motive--that's something I'm having a real hard time figuring out that you have. I know you're involved in this. You know what, Chad? I know that there is something there. What is it? What is it I'm not seeing?
Abigail: Oh, sorry, I--
Ben: What is it?
Abigail: I didn't mean to scare you.
Ben: I'm sorry, I--
Abigail: I'm sorry.
Ben: I was just thinking about something else.
Abigail: Yeah, you must've been thinking pretty hard about something. You've been staring at that coffee and stirring it for the last five minutes without even taking a sip.
Ben: Just worried about you. You said you were feeling queasy this morning.
Abigail: Ben, I'm fine. I'm pregnant. It happens. You didn't sleep at all last night. You were tossing and turning, and at one point, Ben, you yelled out for help.
Ben: Did I say anything else?
Abigail: No. I'm worried about you.
Ben: This isn't a great time for me. The cops here think my dad's a drug dealer. The cops in Florida think he killed somebody. I can't believe he's sitting in jail right now. Chad broke in here and beat the hell out of me, and I don't care what you say. I know this was about you, Abigail.
Abigail: Okay. Ben, if you--if you say that that's what happened, then I believe you. I do--I--sorry, I wish there was something I could do to help you.
Ben: No, I don't--I don't want you worrying about me. Being stressed out isn't good for the baby.
Abigail: Ben, Paige's funeral was last week, and will's was this morning. There's nothing you can do about it. I'm gonna be stressed out.
Ben: Well, I have an idea that might help. But it's only gonna work if you agree.
Andre: You owe much more than hope's liquid assets are worth. But she does have a lovely life insurance policy, which would mean that she would be worth more to you dead than alive.
Hope: Hey. I was praying there'd be some change in his condition.
Rafe: Well, your prayers went unanswered, I'm afraid.
Hope: Still don't like him for these killings, huh?
Rafe: No, it just doesn't make sense. Chad's not the type that gets mad. He gets even.
Hope: Chad was wanted for two murders. He was on the run. Ben had the woman he loved. Maybe he lost it, like Ben said.
Rafe: Hmm. This guy doesn't lose it.
Hope: When Chad regains consciousness, he is going to be charged. That's it, partner. It's out of our hands now.
Ben: I want us to get out of this apartment as soon as possible. There's just too many bad memories here.
Abigail: Yeah, I can't argue with that.
Ben: We own a house now, Abigail. I think we should move into it as soon as possible.
Abigail: I had a feeling that's what you were gonna say.
Ben: It doesn't seem like you like the idea very much. Is it because my dad bought it for us?
Abigail: What? No. Ben, that's not it. My mom told you, and you know that I feel the same way-- your dad being arrested, we would never hold that against you.
Ben: Well then, let's do it. Now.
Abigail: Okay. Okay.
Ben: You won't regret this. I promise you I'm gonna spend every day in our new house making sure that you and our baby are happy.
Abigail: Ben, you make me happy now.
Ben: Do I?
Abigail: Yeah, you do. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. I have to go because I have a meeting with Theresa.
Ben: About your wedding dress?
Abigail: Yes, about my wedding dress.
Ben: Mm. I cannot wait for us to be married.
Abigail: Me either.
Ben: All right.
Abigail: Bye. [Sighs]
[Knocking on door]
Ben, you need to come with us.
Ben: What's going on?
You'll find out.
Lani: You were at the hospital, right?
Lani: I just briefed the mayor on a press conference. Is there an update on Chad DiMera's condition?
Rafe: No. Still the same. Hey, I'm heading over to the pub. You wanna come?
Lani: Uh, yeah. Great.
Hope: Hey, handsome.
Hope: Hey. What are you doing there?
Hope: What are you doing there, huh?
Clyde: Hey, Ben.
You guys have 20 minutes.
Ben: What's going on?
Clyde: I'm getting extradited to Florida.
Ben: What? I thought you said your lawyer was trying to fight it.
Clyde: She tried, but she lost.
Ben: When are you leaving?
Ben: This is all happening way too fast.
Clyde: Yeah, I'm--fellas, this is the last time I'm gonna get to see my boy for God knows how long. Would you do the decent thing and guard the room out in the hall, please?
We'll be right outside.
Clyde: Thank you. Well, that's better.
Ben: Those two cops just showed up at my apartment and said I had to come with them.
Ben: They just threw me in the back of their squad car and told me they--they wouldn't tell me anything.
Clyde: I know, they didn't wanna bring you down here but my lawyer found a judge to tell them they had to do it anyway. We're free to talk now.
Ben: It's hard to believe there's any such thing as real privacy in this place.
Clyde: I checked out the room. I didn't find any bugs, okay? With those guys out in the hall, we're free to say anything we want. Ben... I don't want to leave you. Especially now, when I feel like you're gonna need me more than ever.
Lani: My lieutenant in Miami said I better be patient, if that's what I want-- to make detective.
Lani: But I'm not the patient type.
Rafe: Right. So that's why you came here from Miami pd.
Lani: I knew I didn't want to spend my whole career in a uniform.
Rafe: Who does? By the way, you have a much better chance of making that happen here.
Lani: When I was meeting with the mayor, he told me you said some good things about me. Thank you.
Rafe: Hmm. Well, I didn't say anything that wasn't true.
Lani: You're gonna give me a swelled head.
Rafe: I don't think so. In fact, I think it'll just make you work harder.
Andre: Still a man of few words, I see. Well, not to worry. Father and I will clean up the mess that you've gotten yourself into. We'll keep you safe. Will you please be a little more respectful to your elder brother? Because that's what I am, you know. It seems that mommy was keeping quite a secret. Hmm. So remember, if you open your eyes and see yourself in the clear, you will owe that happy circumstance to me.
Hope: If I were the suspicious type, I would most definitely think you're trying to hide something from me.
Aiden: Oh, yeah.
Hope: Maybe a surprise?
Aiden: Don't do that.
Aiden: I'm-- I'm sorry, okay? The truth is you caught me, okay? I was doing a little research on romantic honeymoon spots and--
Hope: Well, shouldn't we be doing that together?
Aiden: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, look-- if you're worried that I'm gonna book something too expensive, you know, don't be. And by the way, I took your advice. I've got an appointment with a, uh, financial advisor.
Hope: Aiden, that is great.
Aiden: Yeah. You know, I, um-- I'm still feeling a little embarrassed about taking that money from you. You know? But I do consider it a loan. I also know that I am very, very lucky to be marrying such a generous, understanding woman.
Hope: Aiden, I am gonna be your wife in less than three weeks. And your problems are my problems, okay?
Hope: Gosh, I have so much to do before the wedding. There's so much going on.
Aiden: Yeah. Yeah, I know, you're so buried with work and everything, so I--
Hope: Yeah, with Bo's mom in the hospital again, and the loss of will, and trying to help Ciara deal with all of that.
Aiden: Yeah, well, look, hey, you know, um-- just because I have this y chromosome doesn't mean I can't help out with wedding plans, you know? I do know a thing or two about pew bows, so--
Hope: I'll keep that in mind. You always know how to make me smile. Thank you.
Aiden: Yeah. But you know, your--your work and family should come first, so--
Hope: Yeah, well, you and chase are part of my family now. And just for the record, Mr. Jennings, um, I am not the kind of woman who puts her career before her family.
Hope: Bo ended up doing that, and look how that turned out. Our family imploded.
Aiden: Hey, I promise you, with me, you will always come first.
Ben: I still can't believe they're just shipping you off to Florida so soon.
Clyde: Hey, don't worry about those charges. I'm gonna beat them.
Ben: You wouldn't even be a suspect if I hadn't gotten mixed up with that guy who was murdered--
Clyde: Ben, don't you think like that.
Ben: Dad, be honest. Did you hire somebody to kill that guy? So he couldn't talk to the cops about me?
Clyde: I'll be honest if you do the same. Why did Chad DiMera come after you?
Ben: Chad, he just-- he showed up at my apartment. He was like crazy. He said that if he couldn't be with Abigail, then I couldn't either. And he just went at me.
Clyde: Ben, I know you. What you're saying--it doesn't ring true.
Ben: Dad, are you calling me a liar?
Clyde: You are the most important person in the world to me. I want you to know that you can tell me anything. I will keep any secret you have, but you are hiding something.
Ben: I'm not, I'm not. I'm not. I just-- I don't know, I'm-- I'm worried about Abigail. Seems like she's always complaining about pains in her stomach, and this and that, and she's all broken about will and her brother's ex-girlfriend.
Clyde: Son, if that's all it was, then you'd have told me long before now.
Ben: I'm afraid she might lose the baby.
Clyde: Well, that would be terrible, but that's not what you're hiding from me. Just talk softly. They won't hear you.
Ben: You're right.
Clyde: Talk to me, son.
Ben: It was Chad. He was on to me.
Clyde: What do you mean?
Ben: He walked in when I was trying to kill dr. Evans.
Clyde: What-- what did she do to you?
Ben: Nothing. None of them did anything to me. Except will. He was figuring things out.
Clyde: You killed will?
Ben: Dad, I killed them all.
Lani: So, this place is called Brady pub, huh?
Lani: Any connection with detective Brady?
Rafe: Place is owned by her mother-in-law. Hmm, former mother-in-law. Hope is divorced now.
Lani: Right. She's marrying that lawyer guy.
Rafe: Yep. Sure is.
Lani: So I guess she'll be taking some time away for her wedding and her honeymoon?
Lani: I'd be happy to fill in if you need any help while she's away.
Rafe: Okay, I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Hope: So glad I stopped by.
Aiden: Yeah. I'm so glad you did too.
Hope: Mm. Gave me a chance to breathe. Oh, the list.
Aiden: What list? What?
Hope: The list of all the things I need to do for the wedding. We can go over it, make some decisions.
Aiden: Uh, baby, I'd love to, but I--I do have a client showing up any minute. Sorry.
Hope: Oh. Oh, uh, no problem. That's fine--actually I need to get going. By the way--
Hope: You still need to pick a best man.
Aiden: Well, you are my best friend in Salem. Can't you do double-duty?
Hope: What about Rafe?
Aiden: I don't think he likes me very much.
Hope: What are you talking about? That's ridiculous. Of course he likes you. He's just been so wound up with this case, but I saw him this morning and reminded him that our part in it is over. So ask him. You may be surprised.
Aiden: I'll think about it.
Hope: Thank you.
Hope: And then I can check off "find best man." One less thing.
Hope: Bye, okay.
Aiden: All right, baby. [Sighs] [Sharp exhale] What the hell am I doing?
Andre: If you don't know why, maybe I could explain.
Aiden: What the hell are you doing here?
Andre: Not to worry. Hope didn't see me. It's a good thing I stopped by to check on you. You don't seem at all well. Would you care to share the reason why?
Ben: When I think about everything that happened, it's like I'm watching a movie. It wasn't me doing those things.
Clyde: Ben, I need you to tell me the whole story. From the beginning.
Ben: It was Chad. He kept sneaking time with Abigail every chance he got.
Abigail: I've always belonged with you.
Ben: And I knew he'd never give up. That Abigail would be leaving me and taking my baby with her. Dad, it was driving me crazy.
Clyde: I know. I know it was.
Ben: So I saw Chad with Serena that night.
Serena: Oh, no, no, I give up.
Ben: I saw that they were getting really drunk, and that's when I followed Serena to the park. Snuck up behind her and-- you'd be proud of me, dad. I was smart about it. I planted that bloody napkin from Chad's bloody lip right where the police would find it. I had already swiped the key to the DiMera gate, and one of his credit cards, and I dropped the key there too. I figured the next day, the cops would find it and that'd be the end of it. But they didn't. They didn't. And when you told Abigail--you tried, she defended him, dad.
Clyde: Yeah, I remember.
Ben: That's what forced me to kill Paige. She had seen Serena storm out of the club, and Chad followed her. So I broke into his hotel room, spiked his bottle of whiskey so he'd black out and not remember where he was when Paige was--you know. So I went to Paige's dorm room, waited for her to be alone, and I took care of her. I figured the cops would put it all together. And just to make sure of it, I had a petal from a flower that only grows in the DiMera garden. I placed it right on Paige's body. I got that flower from when I was hiding out listening to Chad tell Abigail that he didn't care about her. Even though they'd just had sex. Again, and again, and again.
Clyde: Ben, Ben, Ben.
Ben: Why does she still stick up for him, dad?
Clyde: Take it easy.
Clyde: Tell me the rest.
Ben: I found out she'd been sneaking Chad in for visits at Marlena Evans' office. She shouldn't have done that, dad. She shouldn't have helped him.
Clyde: Keep going.
Ben: When Chad left the office, I went in. Before I could finish off dr. Evans, Chad came back. I had to take off before he saw me. When I found out that she came to and she saw him standing there with the neckties that I bought with his credit card, dad, I thought finally-- finally I was home free. That the cops would eventually see it all, arrest him, and that'd be the end of it. But these moron Salem cops still didn't arrest him.
Clyde: What happened to will?
Ben: [Crying] I forgot to throw away one of the neckties. [Sobbing] Will came to visit Abigail. He found it. He found it, and he was waiting for me to get back. He knew it was me. He knew it was me doing all the--all the--
Ben: I didn't have a choice.
Will: Ben, we're friends. Please!
Ben: Then Chad showed up at my apartment. He knew it was me. That's why he attacked me. I knocked him out. I went to finish him off, and Abigail came home.
Abigail: Oh, my God, Ben?
Ben: I told her I was defending myself. Chad. 'Cause he was gonna kill me next.
Abigail: Why? Why?
Ben: I hate what I did. Do you understand me, Dad? Please say you do. Say you do.
Aiden: Okay, look. I may owe you a lot of money, but that doesn't mean you can make me your hit man.
Andre: Hit man?
Andre: Father and I would never think of ordering-- even suggesting the death of a member of one of Salem's first families.
Aiden: Then why are you here?
Andre: Oh, I just thought I'd come by to reassure you. I know your back is against the wall.
Aiden: You put it there.
Andre: And if you decide that your only way out of your current difficulties is to eliminate hope from the face of the earth, there won't be anybody standing in your way.
Lani: Thanks for the lunch.
Lani: Um, I better get back to work.
Rafe: You should.
Hope: Hey, Rafe, uh, I came back and you and Lani were gone. Anything I should know about?
Rafe: Yeah. I work with her now. So I was just trying to get to know her better.
Hope: Yeah, that's a-- that's a good idea. I just came back from Aiden's office, though.
Rafe: Something bothering you?
Hope: He's been in Salem for what, two years, maybe more or less? And it's like he still thinks of himself as an outsider.
Rafe: Well, maybe he's too busy to make friends.
Hope: And he's a very devoted dad. See, the thing is, is that-- ugh.
Rafe: What? What, what?
Hope: We're getting married in less than three weeks and he still doesn't have a best man.
Rafe: Really? What, he just can't fly someone in from somewhere?
Hope: Rafe, this isn't funny, okay?
Rafe: Okay, no, I'm sorry. I'm not--
Hope: Actually, I was thinking maybe you would consider doing it.
Rafe: I mean, why are you talking to me about this instead of him?
Hope: I did talk to him, but he has this crazy idea that you don't like him very much.
Rafe: Well, of course that's not true--no.
Hope: I know that, but I don't--I told him that.
Hope: But I don't think he believed me.
Rafe: Okay, well, I'm sorry that he got that impression, and if he makes you happy, then--then I'm happy.
Hope: He does.
Hope: He makes me happy.
Rafe: Well, then great. I'm, uh, so happy.
Hope: Okay, then you'll be his best man.
Rafe: But no, I didn't-- I didn't say that. If he asks me, maybe I will say yes.
Hope: I think that's a yes. Rafe--
Rafe: Oh, come on.
Hope: No, thank you. Thank you. The best buddy ever.
Rafe: Okay, great.
Hope: And by the way, do not, by any means, um, let him know that we had this little conversation, okay?
Rafe: No, no.
Hope: Mum's the word.
Rafe: Mum's the word.
Andre: I have to admire the way you are able to play normal just like that. That's the sign or the mark of a true psychopath.
Aiden: That's not what I am.
Andre: Oh, but tell me, what are you?
Aiden: I'm a man in a desperate situation, being forced to kill the woman I love. The mother of a young girl, to save my son's life.
Andre: I wouldn't worry about the young girl if I were you. Plenty of Bradys to take her in. Perhaps Samantha. I hear she has an empty bed now.
Aiden: Why are you here?
Andre: You didn't have the brains or the guts to steal the evidence against Chad. How do I know you even have the ability to pull this off?
Ben: Dad. Dad? Look at me. Please don't turn me in. I can't live without Abigail. She just--she makes everything nice. I've never known anybody like that in my life.
Clyde: I know. I know you haven't.
Ben: She said that we can move into the house that you bought us. She told me this morning we-- we could move there and wait for our baby to be born there. Chad wanted to take all that away from me. I had to stop him. I had to do what I had to do to stop him.
Clyde: And I will take your secret to my grave.
Ben: You will?
Clyde: I will do anything to protect my son.
Aiden: Why are you and your father so anxious for hope to die?
Andre: Because neither of us care about the woman one way or the other. Besides, we thought it was the only way that you could get your hands on the money you owe us.
Aiden: Oh, okay, well, if I do whatever it takes to pay you back, what guarantee do I have that this will be over? How do I know that you won't threaten my son's life the next time you want someone removed from the face of the earth?
[Knocking on door]
Rafe: Aiden? Oh, sorry. Your receptionist thought you were alone.
Andre: Yes, I stepped in while she was taking a break.
Aiden: Yeah, uh, come on in, Rafe. Come on. Hey.
Rafe: Hey, good day.
Rafe: He's not trying to hire you, is he?
Aiden: No, no. He, uh, he just stopped by to tell me that, uh, Stefano wasn't gonna pay the bill that I sent him after he fired me as Chad's lawyer.
Rafe: What? Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, man. That's a raw deal.
Rafe: So, what do you think of this whole mess with Chad?
Aiden: All I can tell you is that he believed he's being framed.
Rafe: Yeah, well, as much as I hate to agree with him, I think he might be right.
Aiden: Well then, that means the killer is still out there.
Aiden: There could be another murder.
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, hope says I should just let it all go. Move on.
Aiden: Yeah. Well, hope is right about most things.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, you must be getting excited, huh? Wedding's coming up.
Aiden: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I just wish, uh, the bulk of the work wasn't falling on hope, you know?
Rafe: Listen, man, if there's anything that you need, or she needs, you just feel free to ask.
Aiden: You serious about that?
Aiden: All right, well, look, I, um-- I know you and I haven't known each other that long, but uh, I was thinking maybe you could be my best man.
Rafe: Me? You want me to be your--really?
Aiden: If--I mean, if you--
Rafe: Yes, yeah, yes.
Aiden: Are you sure?
Rafe: Yeah, yeah, yes, man.
Aiden: Are you sure?
Rafe: Yeah, that'd be great.
Aiden: All right, all right, that's great, thank you. Thank you very much, and, uh, I'm a very lucky man.
Rafe: All right, good.
Aiden: All right.
Clyde: I'm just so glad we found our way back to each other. I'm never gonna lose you again. That's a promise.
Ben: I really love you, dad.
Clyde: Oh, I love you too. More than you will ever know.
Ben: I wish-- I wish this wasn't happening to you. I wish you weren't going away.
Clyde: It's gonna be all right. The D.A. Still thinks Chad did all those things. When he comes out of that coma, they'll arrest him, they'll convict him, they'll put his ass away in prison for a long time. The way I see it, that's justice served.
Ben: You told me if I was honest with you, you'd tell me the truth about what happened down in Florida.
Clyde: Yeah, I know I did, and I will. What happened was I found out--
Officer: Time's up.
Clyde: Just one minute.
Officer: Let's go.
Clyde: One minute, all right. Just one more minute, all right?
Ben: Officer, one minute. Officer, one minute. Dad, please don't make it worse. Don't make it worse, Dad.
Clyde: I can't leave him now! I can't leave him now!
Officer: You guys already said good-bye. I said let's go! Come on. I said let's go!
Hope: The reason I asked you to meet me here was because I am hoping and praying that, um, you'll be one of my bridesmaids. Of course I'm gonna ask your mom too, and I know--
Abigail: Yes, yes. Yes, I know exactly what you're gonna say, and yes, I--yes, I would be honored to be your bridesmaid. And I think that we could all use something to celebrate right now.
Hope: I can't believe will's not gonna be there.
Abigail: Yeah, I know. You know, I was, um-- I was gonna make him the godfather of my baby.
Abigail: I know.
Hope: Well, thank God we have Aiden and Ben to lean on. I don't think I could get through all of this without him.
[Aiden exhales sharply]
