Provided By Suzanne
Hope: Are you sure? I don't believe this. I gotta go. I'll call you back.
Aiden: Hey. What's going on? Is something wrong?
Hope: Yeah, something's wrong. Why have you been lying to me?
Lucas: Adrienne? Adrienne? Are you okay?
Adrienne: Yeah. Yeah.
Lucas: Is that, um...
Adrienne: The results of my blood test. Now I just have to get up the courage to look at it.
Rafe: No, I'm pulling the plug on the cabin stakeout. Well, just report to the station in the morning for your new assignment. And before you tell me how to do my job, Chad is not going back there.
Justin: And I know why.
Rafe: Okay, here we go again.
Justin: No, I'm not blaming you.
Rafe: Since when?
Justin: You're probably thinking it's my fault that Chad figured out that we were on to him.
Justin: You know what? You're right.
JJ: Look, I know you're upset about Ben's dad being arrested, but, ask commissioner Brady, Clyde is seriously bad news.
Abigail: Bad news how?
JJ: He's a drug lord. And he's about to be shipped off to Florida on a murder charge.
JJ: Look, I-I don't have all the details, but Roman said they have a solid case.
Abigail: JJ, why--why are you in the middle of this?
JJ: Do you remember all the rumors about me dealing? Well, they were true. The DEA recruited me to go undercover.
Abigail: Are you serious?
JJ: When I said that I'd do it, at first, it was about helping Paige. After we broke up, she was trying to show me how great she can get along without me. She happened to hook up with one of Clyde's dealers.
Abigail: You're saying that Clyde had something to do with Paige's death?
JJ: I don't know, but he threatened her, and he threatened you, and he threatened mom. And that's why I had to see this through. Ben's dad is a psychopath, abs.
Will: Hey. You look surprised to see me. Uh, you didn't get my text?
Will: I brought by some wedding planning stuff, and I told Abigail that I'd wait for the cable guy.
Ben: Thanks, man.
Will: Yeah, I don't think he's gonna come though.
Ben: Probably not. This is the third time he hasn't shown up. You going through my trash?
Will: Yeah, I, uh, I knocked it over accidentally. I'm sorry.
Ben: I see you found my tie.
Will: Yeah. It's pretty snazzy. How come you're throwing it out?
Justin: When I recognized that lure, I should have kept my mouth shut. I didn't. Instead, I tipped my hand to Stefano and he must have warned Chad to clear out of the cabin.
Rafe: Yeah. I wasn't going to say anything, but yeah, it was an amateur mistake. Which isn't surprising because that's exactly what you are. Yet you still want to tell me how to do my job, all right?
Justin: Look, if you'd just give me a chance to finish--
Rafe: Am I right? What would you be thinking if I were the one who let Chad get away?
Gabi: Excuse me. I'm looking for my brother, detective Hernandez.
Lani: Sorry, he's out in the field. I'm Lani price.
Gabi: Gabi Hernandez. Nice to meet you. You--you're new, aren't you?
Lani: Just started a few days ago. Rafe's been a huge help. Nice meeting you.
Gabi: Yeah, you too.
Ben: Kept this around in case I ever decided to start acting like an adult. [Chuckles]
Will: Gave up on growing up?
Ben: No, no, I just... decided it was an ugly tie. No offense. I mean, if you like it so much, you can have it.
Will: Yeah, no, now that I know it's been in the trash, uh, I'll pass. But thank you.
Hope: I just got off the phone with Roman.
Aiden: And he explained how I helped get Clyde extradited to Florida. I've been trying to find you so I can tell you myself.
Hope: I don't understand.
Aiden: Okay, you're right. I have been lying to you. I've been lying to you for a long time about Clyde.
Hope: But why? You said he was clean. You were absolutely sure.
Aiden: Yes, I had to tell you that to protect you and the kids.
Hope: What are you talking about?
Aiden: He threatened you and chase and Ciara.
Hope: And you didn't tell me? You--
Hope: Don't you think I had a right to know that?
Aiden: Look, I couldn't tell you, or he would have retaliated.
Hope: The time you were mugged, that was Clyde?
Aiden: Yeah, it was Clyde sending a not-so-subtle message to me to keep my mouth shut.
Hope: My God.
Aiden: Look, listen to me. If I knew what kind of guy he was, I never would have represented him. But once I did, it was pretty tough to extricate myself from that situation.
Hope: But you had.
Aiden: Yes, because once Clyde was arrested, I saw an opportunity to make those charges stick to get him out of our lives for good. I am sorry that I didn't tell you the truth. But you understand why, don't you?
Lucas: How long you been standing here looking at that thing?
Adrienne: A while. I mean, I know I'm not gonna understand the medical terms, but I asked Kayla to send it to me directly. I wanted to be the first to know, you know?
Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I understand that. You know, um, I'm not a professional. I really don't know what I'm talking about, but I did do some reading. And even if you do have the gene, that doesn't necessarily mean that you have cancer. And even if you do, there's so many thing that they can do for you about it.
Adrienne: I know, I know. I know. I mean, they're options, there's treatments.
Lucas: Listen, it's okay. It's okay to be scared. Now I don't think you should open that envelope until you know that you're good and ready.
Adrienne: Actually, talking to you, it's helped. I'm ready.
Justin: You're right. I would have told Roman to take you off the case and put you on traffic patrol.
Rafe: Listen, I understand why you want to make an arrest. This is your first big case as D.A., And you want a win.
Justin: I do also have a slight interest in getting a killer off the street.
Rafe: Yeah, and if his name's DiMera, yeah, that would be especially meaningful.
Justin: For a lot of people.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, for you and me both. But I'm not in this for the "attaboys" or for the press conferences with the mayor afterwards. I just want the people of this town to feel safe.
Justin: Me, too.
Rafe: Yeah. But the difference is, you think they're gonna be safe if we get DiMera off the streets. What if he's not our guy?
Justin: What are the odds?
Rafe: What are the-- I don't know. But I'll tell you one thing, Marlena's not convinced he's the one who attacked her.
Justin: But why would he run?
Rafe: Why? Because he's afraid of being railroaded because he doesn't think that he can prove his innocence. Now, that's not the way the system's supposed to work, though, is it? Chad might very well be guilty, but I just want to put a case on your desk that's a slam dunk.
Justin: I hope you can, too.
Rafe: Oh, well, count on it. Because in the end, you and I both want the same thing. To get this killer off the streets, whoever it is, before he kills again.
Will: Did Abigail find you?
Ben: What? Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Will: Well, I just thought you guys would come back together.
Ben: She had to talk to her brother. I wish she'd just stayed here. I told her to rest.
Will: Well, she's worried about you. Look, Ben, um, I'm really sorry about your dad. You must have been really shocked when you heard.
Ben: Of course I was shocked. But he's gonna be cleared. It was all just a huge misunderstanding.
Will: I sure hope so.
Ben: It was.
Will: Um, you know what, I just meant that, um, I know about your history with Clyde.
Ben: Yeah, he's changed. Okay, will? I mean, when you-- when you wrote that article about him, did you find anybody, besides that lying loser, who had one bad word to say about him? No. You didn't. I'm just so sick and tired of everybody talking trash about my family. Meanwhile, the cops are wasting all this time going after my dad when the real criminal is Chad DiMera.
Ben: You sound just like Abigail. How much more proof do you people need? I mean, does another body have to turn up to finally have everybody convinced?
Will: Are you okay?
Justin: I'm not gonna contradict a word you said.
Rafe: Since when?
Justin: Since now. I went to Abe and offered my resignation over my screw-up with DiMera.
Rafe: So you're not even the DA anymore?
Justin: Don't get your hopes up. He wouldn't accept it. He knows the people of Salem are scared. They need stability. They need to know that the best people are in charge.
Rafe: Like you.
Justin: And you. Look, I admit, when I first started this job, I had, uh, certain goals. Some of which were... selfishly motivated. You want an airtight case? So do I.
Rafe: It's no fun looking like an idiot in court.
Justin: No, it is not. We got off on the wrong foot. That's my fault. How about we start over?
Gabi: Hey, what's going on?
Abigail: Hey, hi.
Abigail: Uh, we're doing all right. Where is that beautiful daughter of yours?
Gabi: Oh, she's at the sitter's. I came to see Rafe, but I-- I should have called.
Abigail: I haven't heard from Ben and I thought he'd be back. I'm gonna go check on him. Yeah. I don't have to worry about you now, do I?
JJ: No. I hope I don't have to worry about you either.
Abigail: I'm pretty freaked out. But we're gonna be okay. You'll tell me the whole story later?
Abigail: Love you. Bye.
Gabi: What story?
JJ: I sort of helped Abigail's future father-in-law get arrested a little while ago.
JJ: Let's just say that Ben isn't too thrilled with me.
Ben: You think I should be okay, Will? My dad's in jail. My fiancÚ's brother is the one who railroaded him. Yeah, that's right. JJ's the reason why my dad's in jail.
Will: I don't understand.
Ben: We all know JJ went back to dealing. I bet he just made my dad look guilty to save his own ass.
Will: How does that help JJ?
Ben: I don't know, will. I just know that my dad's innocent, Chad's guilty, and Abigail's believing all the wrong people.
Ben: This was supposed to be the best time of my life. And all of a sudden, everything's so screwed up.
Will: Ben, I am-- I'm so sorry. I wish there was something I could say to help. I should get going.
Ben: Listen, man, I'm really sorry. I'm just really upset right now. I'm coming all hard at you, and you're only trying to help.
Will: It's--it's okay. I totally get it. You know, I-I really should be going.
Ben: Why are you in such a hurry?
Will: Uh, I have a deadline.
Will: But, Ben, if you want to talk, we can go somewhere, get some fresh air. We go walk over to town square.
Ben: Will, suddenly I'm getting the feeling I'm making you nervous.
Will: No. Of course not.
Ben: Damn it, don't these people know that I'm busy?
Justin: Hope I'm not interrupting anything.
Lucas: No. No, not at all. I was just, um, asking about Sonny. You know, wondering how he was doing.
Adrienne: I was telling him how great he's doing. And he sends his love to Arianna grace.
Lucas: Oh, good. I'll, um, I'll make sure that I, uh, give her a hug from him. Well, uh, take care of yourself, okay?
Adrienne: I will.
Lucas: All right.
Adrienne: No, please, please don't start, please.
Justin: Don't worry. I don't want a repeat of our last date.
Adrienne: If you could even call it that.
Justin: Adrienne, can you please just give me another chance to make it up to you?
Justin: How about right now?
Adrienne: Sure. That'd be great.
Gabi: Oh, my God, JJ. So when you were down there rescuing me by the docks, you were about to meet up with Clyde? I could have ruined everything. I just can't believe that the police would ask you to do something so dangerous. I mean, thank God that everything worked out.
JJ: Yeah, I wouldn't exactly say that.
Gabi: Are you talking about for Abigail and Ben?
JJ: That, and-- and I'm pretty sure it's not all over.
Gabi: Okay, so you think that you're still in danger?
JJ: No, I-- I don't know. Here's--here's the thing. I think Clyde is the one who killed Paige.
JJ: Because she knew too much because I told her.
Gabi: JJ, okay, well, what about the other women? Uh, Serena and--and Marlena?
JJ: I don't know. Maybe it wasn't him, but I'd like to think that the killer is off the streets. Maybe it was Chad, or maybe it's someone that is still out there.
Gabi: JJ, you don't have to do this anymore.
JJ: I-I owe it to Paige to bring down the guy who killed her.
Hope: No, it wasn't just a lie, Aiden. You deliberately steered me away from investigating Clyde.
Aiden: Baby, I hated keeping the truth from you, okay? But you are a smart cop. You were right about Clyde from the beginning. I-I was just scared. I was scared for you. I was scared for the kids. Listen, I know on top of all the money stuff that... this is a lot.
Hope: Yeah. It's a lot.
Aiden: I appreciate your faith in me. We okay?
Hope: I-I don't know. Still trying to... process all of this.
Aiden: Yeah, well, um... of course, baby. Look, I-I understand. I want you to know something. Okay? In spite of my... not being able to open up to you the way I should have, I love you so much. And I deeply regret if I hurt you in any way.
Ben: You think you're a lot smarter than I am?
Will: No. Of course not.
Ben: But you think you know what's going on.
Will: Ben, we're friends. You asked me to be your best man. We can talk to each other.
Ben: About what?
Will: Like you said... you're really worked up right now. Maybe if we go somewhere, it'll help you calm down.
Ben: Don't patronize me. You're clueless, Will. You and everybody else.
Ben: You shouldn't have:
Ben: You shouldn't have come here, Will. You should have just stayed away.
Will: [Grunting] Please! Please!
Ben: [Grunting] [Sobbing]
Gabi: Well, we could, uh, we could get frozen yogurt and pretend like we're college kids, people-watch. Like if we're on a study break, and we're just super stressed out about our mid-terms. What's wrong?
JJ: I can't pretend that, Gabi.
Gabi: Yeah, neither can I. Did you, uh, and Paige use to come here?
JJ: She used to work here.
Gabi: I'm--I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have--
JJ: No, how were you supposed to know?
Gabi: Hey. What can I do?
JJ: Can we just... sit down for a little while?
Gabi: Sure. Whatever you want.
Justin: So... what have you been up to?
Adrienne: Just the usual stuff, you know.
Justin: I'm sorry I haven't been paying much attention to your life and what's going on. I've just been so overwhelmed at work and--
Adrienne: No, Justin. I understand. I mean, honestly I shouldn't have given you a hard time about it the other day.
Justin: No, no. You were right. I've been acting like a jackass.
Adrienne: Listen, you're under a lot of pressure to get an indictment. I get that. It just-- when you get like this, it--it reminds me of when we were first married, you know? When you went to work for Victor. You became a stranger to me overnight.
Justin: Yeah, but that was a long time ago.
Adrienne: I know, I know. And we both-- we've both been through a lot of changes since the first time you found me in the park crying. I was so alone and scared, and I just needed someone to make me feel safe again.
Justin: I didn't always do that.
Adrienne: But I don't need you to do that for me anymore.
Justin: I know.
Adrienne: We both made a lot of choices that took us in... different directions.
Justin: We made some mistakes.
Adrienne: No, I-I didn't say mistakes. They were more like statements. Who we are. And who we want to be.
Lani: I was told to give you this.
Rafe: Thanks, Lani.
Hope: Hey, Lani. What is it?
Rafe: No wonder our trail's gone cold. Looks like our man, Chad, is on the run.
Lucas: Hey, it's me. Listen, um, trying to get some tickets to take Ari to go see the giggles, so let me know if you want to go, okay? I'll spring for the earplugs. Come on, man. Call me back, will. What's going on?
Abigail: You looking for will?
Lucas: Yeah, yeah. He must be busy. His phone's usually glued to his hand.
Abigail: He stopped by my place a little while ago. Actually, yeah, it was really sweet. He brought over all this-- this wedding planning stuff, and he even offered to stay and wait for the cable person to come because I had to run out.
Lucas: Yeah, that's my son. The good boy. Or he's procrastinating. He's probably on deadline for Zoe.
Abigail: How'd you know that?
Lucas: I'm psychic. Plus I'm the dad. Dad's know everything. You think he's still there?
Abigail: I don't know. Uh, I've been trying to track down Ben myself, but I'm thinking that he probably went home and I doubt that he's in the mood for company, so probably just asked will to come back another time.
[Ben breathes heavily]
Justin: I know it sounds trite, but sometimes you don't know what you have until you...
Adrienne: Huh. I really thought we could make this work.
Justin: What do you mean?
Adrienne: Damn it, I feel so nervous. I mean, I raised four boys with you and I feel like I'm on an audition.
Justin: Well, why are you feeling so nervous?
Adrienne: Because I know that once we get past the small talk into more meaningful conversation, it will involve talking about things that are extremely painful. And honestly, I don't know if I can stand to be... to have my heart broken again.
Adrienne: This is such a hard road that we're on. And there have been so many misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Justin, so many nights that I cried myself to sleep and... I just can't pretend that it didn't happen.
Justin: I'm not asking you to pretend anything. Adrienne... we just started doing this.
Adrienne: I know, I know.
Justin: It was your idea.
Adrienne: I know.
Justin: I don't get it. What's going on?
Adrienne: I want you to look me in the eye. I want you to tell me that there's not some part of you that just wants to be free.
Adrienne: No, listen to me. To do what you want with whoever you want.
Adrienne: No, no, no, no. The truth. Please.
Justin: Sometimes. Sometimes. I mean, I-- I don't really like that about myself. Maybe you feel the same way.
Adrienne: I guess that's it then.
Justin: What? That's it?
Aiden: You went by the place? Got a lay of the land? Okay, look, this is for the side door. This right here, this fob is to disarm the security system. You should have it easy.
Pence: That's the first time anyone ever called breaking into the DiMera mansion "easy".
Aiden: Well, something tells me that the huge payday I promised you will give you the courage to pull it off. Right?
Rafe: That tip was right on the money. So the company that chartered the jet from here to Rio was a shell corporation owned by DiMera enterprise. There's a good possibility that Chad was on that jet.
Hope: And if that's true, he could easily disappear down there forever.
Lani: Kind of hard not to see this as an admission of guilt, isn't it? Are you finally convinced that he's our killer?
Gabi: Well, actually, when I left, um... Arianna was learning how to walk, and will and Sonny would bring her to come see me. And sometimes she was scared. It was like she didn't remember that I was her mom.
JJ: I can't imagine that.
Gabi: But...inside, she was what I was living for. When I found out I was pregnant, I thought it was the worst thing ever, but... it was the best thing that ever happened to me--it's hard to-- it's hard to understand.
JJ: Yeah, a little.
Gabi: JJ, what I'm trying to say is...that... things get better. Even the worst stuff. Eventually they will.
JJ: Thank you. That does help.
Gabi: Oh, well, actually, speaking of Ari, I'm gonna get going, because I have to pick up some things from the apartment and then pick her up from the sitter.
JJ: Okay. It we good catching up.
JJ: Maybe I'll see you around.
Gabi: Maybe. [Laughs]
Abigail: Ben? Ben, are you home? Ben.
Abigail: Are you okay? You haven't answered any of my text messages. I was worried.
Ben: Yeah, sorry, I must have had my phone on silent.
Abigail: Well, where did you go? I was waiting for you to come back to the police station.
Ben: I just...walked back to the apartment, chilled there for a little bit.
Abigail: Did you see will?
Ben: No. I guess we just missed each other.
Abigail: Where are you now?
Ben: Just went for a run. I'll be home soon, though, okay?
Abigail: Wait, Ben... are you all right?
Ben: I will be when I see you.
[Door opens and closes]
Justin: Yeah, I'm here alone. No need to gloat.
Lucas: I wasn't gonna do that at all, but...
Justin: All I gotta tell you is... don't hurt her.
Aiden: Your job is to get in that house, and you figure out where Chad DiMera's stashed. Now, they've got more secret passages than the haunted mansion.
Pence: Easy. Right. You sure this is gonna be worth it?
Aiden: When I turn him in, it's 100 grand. You get 10% of that right off the top.
Pence: Terrific. Huh. But how 'bout I got for 100% since I'm the one doing all the work? I mean...what's to stop me from turning Chad in myself?
Aiden: If that happens... you will not live long enough to spend one dime of that money.
Rafe: I don't know. My gut's still telling me Chad's not our guy.
Hope: He might be running because he's scared...not because he's guilty.
Rafe: Chad might not even be on that plane--it would be a classic diversion tactic.
Lani: In other words, you think that the killer might still be here in Salem.
Rafe: That would be my bet. And we damn well better find him before he kills again.
Abigail: Wait--oh! You're not supposed to be here yet. I wanted everything to be perfect when you came home.
Ben: Things are already perfect... as long as you're here. Sometimes I can't imagine... what it was ever like to live without you. I know I never wanna find out again.
Gabi: Aah! [Sobbing] No!
