Ben: [Sighs] I still wish they admitted you. Sorry. I know you think I'm being overprotective, but...
Abigail: No, I don't think you're being overprotective. I think that you're being... very sweet. I just--I'm happy to be home, and I'm happy that those contractions stopped on their own. Thank you.
Ben: Don't forget to keep your feet up.
Abigail: I know. Okay. Thank you.
Ben: Still, preterm labor's nothing to mess around with, especially this early on.
Abigail: Yeah, believe me, I know. I'm not gonna take any chances. Thank you.
Ben: Good. So you are gonna keep your feet elevated. You're gonna stay hydrated. And you're gonna avoid stress.
Abigail: I'll do my best.
Ben: [Sighs] Abigail, I think we both know what caused this.
Ben: Just all this drama going on with Chad DiMera.
André: Thank you. Thank you very much. I have good news.
Chad: Will I think it's good news?
André: Our source at the police station just informed me that Clyde Weston was just arrested.
Chad: I told you. I told you that he killed Serena and Paige. What, did the cops find some proof?
Roman: Have a seat.
Clyde: This is absurd, man. You've got nothing to hold me on.
Roman: I beg to differ.
Clyde: You are aware that JJ's sister is gonna marry my son, right?
Roman: So I've heard.
Clyde: Well, that poor boy has had such a hard time in his personal life lately. Maybe he's jealous of his sister's happiness. I don't know what kind of attention he's looking to find by pointing a finger--
Roman: Well, I'm more concerned about the kind of attention you're bringing to Salem.
Clyde: Oh, you're just throwing out accusations, man. You got no proof.
Roman: Oh, Clyde, come on, give it a rest. I heard your whole conversation with JJ. I suggest you call your lawyer.
Clyde: Well, maybe I will.
Roman: Good. I'm glad that you recognize the seriousness of your situation. Damn, you are good. Your client hasn't even called you yet, and here you are.
Aiden: Well, if you're talking about Clyde, I'm here on another matter. I don't represent him.
Roman: Oh, well, good for you.
Aiden: Yeah. Look, uh... now that you finally got Clyde Weston in custody, I'd hate to see you let him go. Roman, I want to give you something that I hope will help you keep him behind bars for a very long time.
Roman: Aiden, Aiden. This is privileged information?
Aiden: Not exactly. But there is one condition. You didn't get it from me. When I started working with Clyde as a client, it was for corporate work-- you know, estate planning and the like. I told him that I was primarily a criminal lawyer. He didn't seem too concerned about that. I guess he knew that he would eventually need one.
Roman: All right, go on.
Aiden: Well, obviously, I believe that everyone has the right to representation. Hope... she thought that Clyde was bad news from the beginning. I told her I didn't want to hear any of it, okay? I dropped him because he scares me. He made a veiled threat against my son.
Roman: My God.
Aiden: Yeah. And that's when I started doing some digging on my own.
Aiden: And I came across a witness in Florida who could put Clyde away, if he wasn't so afraid to talk.
Roman: How does that help me?
Aiden: Once I knew where to start... I found some corroborating information that I'd be willing to share.
Abigail: We're all stressed out. There's a serial killer on the loose, and there's a manhunt for Chad.
Ben: And you're worried about him.
Abigail: When you know someone for a long time, it's very hard to completely detach when someone's in trouble like that. Would you be able to do that if you had a friend who was going through what Chad is?
Ben: "Going through what Chad is?" What about what those poor women who he strangled went through, Abigail?
Abigail: We don't know that, okay? Nothing has been proven, so please stop saying that.
Ben: See, I have a feeling that even when it is, you'll still be defending him, like somehow it's still not going to be his fault because he had such a terrible childhood or because his father was such a bad influence or whatever.
Abigail: That is so unfair. I don't know what I would feel if it's proven that Chad is a murderer, but I would really like to not go there right now, okay?
Ben: Just tell me... what if I was always talking about some girl that was in my past... and how I wanted to be there for her? Would you like it?
Abigail: No, of course not. It's just that I-- I've just--I've known him for a long time, and it--it--it... it would be just as unbelievable to me if someone were to tell me that you were a murderer. It's just--it's strange. Chad--he had no motive to attack Serena, no motive to attack Paige, and certainly no motive at all to attack Marlena.
Ben: But she saw him.
Abigail: Well, things aren't always as they seem, Ben.
Ben: That's true.
Abigail: I think that Chad is being framed.
Ben: Who would do that?
Abigail: I don't know. With Paige's father offering this reward, I... I'm scared about what might happen to Chad.
Ben: There's nothing that we can do about it either way.
Abigail: Yeah, that's true. [Sighs] Hey... all I want right now... is just to take care of our baby, okay?
Ben: How about letting me take care of both of you?
Abigail: That sounds wonderful. You know what I want right now? I just want to take a nice, long, hot shower.
Abigail: Will you come with me?
Roman: All right, here you go. Clyde, I hope you understand that it would be to your benefit to cooperate with us.
Clyde: Now, why would I want to talk to you without my lawyer?
Roman: Oh, you've done a lot of talking already. Remember that little conversation you had with JJ earlier? Well, my phone was connected to his phone, so I heard everything. You made a lot of threats. You even admitted to running the drug ring that's given Salem so many problems.
Clyde: You know, it seems to me that it was JJ who was the one doing all the talking. But if that's what you think you heard, I do believe my lawyer would call that entrapment, if JJ's working for you.
Roman: JJ was just a civilian making a phone call because he feared for his life.
Clyde: Well, I think that's a load of bull-pucky-- excuse my French.
Roman: You know, I'll bet you've charmed a whole lot of folks around this town, but I kind of doubt that that's gonna work with me.
Clyde: Now, why would JJ be afraid of me, huh? Ask around. I mean, I've been a model citizen. Seems to me that JJ's the one that's had trouble with the law. You know, I read in the paper he was selling drugs right out of the Horton center. Yeah. I think maybe he's trying to deflect suspicion in another direction.
Roman: [Laughs] Well, okay, let me get this straight. So you're helping me out here.
Clyde: Well, you're the one that wanted me to talk, I mean, hoping that I would say something incriminating before my lawyer gets here, but that's not going to happen.
Roman: Well, you know what? You are a slippery guy, Clyde, no doubt about that, and you may even get away with threatening JJ... but that's not all I got.
Clyde: Huh. You're bluffing.
Roman: Enjoy your water.
André: Oh, I didn't mean to get your hopes up. But... it seems that Clyde... was taken off the docks after some altercation with JJ Deveraux.
André: The good news is... [Chuckles] Well, since that son of a bitch is in custody... we can have someone slip into his house.
Chad: And find proof that he's the killer.
Abigail: Hey. You coming or what?
Ben: I'll be right there.
[Cell phone ringing]
[Cell phone beeps]
Clyde: Hey, it's me.
Ben: Dad. I didn't recognize the number.
Clyde: That's 'cause I'm calling from the police station.
Clyde: Roman Brady brought me in on some bogus charges. I get one phone call, so I wanted to let you know I'm here, I'm okay, and I'm going to get out of here soon.
Ben: Are you sure?
Clyde: Yeah. I got a new lawyer. Her name is Joanne Donner. Do me a favor. Look up her number, give her a call for me. She's an ace. She'll clear up this misunderstanding in no time.
Ben: All right, let me just get off the phone. I'll make the call.
Abigail: Hey, what's going on?
Ben: My dad just got arrested.
Abigail: Arrested for what?
Ben: I have no idea, but he said whatever they have, it won't stick, and he wants me to call his lawyer, but... I'm just going to go down to the station and see what's going on, okay?
Abigail: Okay, yes, of course, I'll go with you.
Ben: No, I want you to stay here and rest, okay? Are you gonna be okay alone?
Abigail: Yeah, of course.
Ben: Okay, listen, if you need anything, call me. Anything at all.
Abigail: Okay, I will.
Ben: All right. [Sighs]
Chad: Did you and father have anything to do with Clyde Weston's arrest?
André: Oh, Clyde Weston began to see himself as invincible, and that misperception... it was the beginning of his downfall, I'm sure. But then, of course, we DiMeras... [Chuckles] We don't do anything like that, now, do we?
Chad: Why are you helping me?
André: I told you-- that's what families do.
Chad: Well, I don't even know you.
André: Well... you will... assuming you stay out of prison. But you got to have patience, Chad. We can't move any further until we get more information.
Chad: And our contact?
André: Mm, he'll call us when he's able to.
Chad: Which is when? 'Cause I'm--I'm feeling like I'm climbing up the walls here, waiting around like a sitting duck.
André: If I were you, I would just sit back and relish and watch it all unfold. [Chuckles]
Chad: [Imitating André] "All unfold."
Abigail: Oh. Stefano. [Gasps]
Will: Hi. Um, where's Ben?
Abigail: Uh, Ben had to go out. Uh, but what's up?
Will: Well, I really should be at home writing an article that's due, you know, tomorrow. [Chuckles] But I wouldn't be a real writer if I didn't excel at procrastination, right?
Abigail: I guess so.
Will: So, well, I figure, I'm Ben's best man, and Sonny and I--we've already checked out every wedding vendor in the tri-state area. And, you know Sonny-- he's got these categorized by item, quality, price, gay-friendliness. I don't know if that means anything to you guys, but--
Abigail: Yes. No. Yes, it does, of course. No gay-unfriendly vendors for us either. Thank you.
Will: I was hoping it might help you guys. It's got samples, proofs, everything.
Abigail: That's great. Yeah, thanks.
Will: I can sit down, and I can go through it with you, uh, when you guys have time. Sonny's system is sometimes a little hard to decipher.
Abigail: Yeah. Wouldn't it be hard for you to immerse yourself in all this wedding stuff, though?
Will: Oh, I-I mean, I wouldn't want all of that work to have been in vain.
Abigail: Yeah, I wouldn't want that either, for a lot of reasons. And I want you to know, I'm really pulling for you and Sonny to work things out.
Will: Thank you. Me too. Um... um... Abigail, is this an okay time for me to be here?
Abigail: Yeah, um... it's so sweet of you to come over. I'm just, um... I'm just a little tired.
Will: Too tired to talk about wedding stuff? My cousin?
Will: Abigail, is everything okay with you and Ben?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, it's great.
Will: So what's the problem?
Roman: JJ. You're lucky to be alive. You know that?
JJ: I don't blame you for being mad at me. I did what I had to do.
JJ: After what happened to Paige, if Clyde did anything to my mom or my sister--
Roman: You could've called me, okay? We would've worked together.
JJ: But it worked, right? Please tell me you'll be able to keep him in there.
Roman: Well, I actually figured out a way to ship him off to Florida to face murder charges. That way, we got time to build a case here.
JJ: How'd you manage that?
Roman: Let's just say it wouldn't have happened without you. What you did today, JJ, took a lot of guts. Now, it wasn't the smartest move you ever made, but job well done. Okay?
Ben: Where's my father? What the hell's going on?
Abigail: Ben and I, we just-- we had a little scare, uh, with the baby.
Will: What happened?
Abigail: I was having some mild contractions, so Ben took me to the hospital, and the ob said I was probably just dehydrated.
Will: Yeah. That happened to Gabi once.
Abigail: Yeah, right. I remember.
Will: I was scared out of my mind.
Abigail: I just have to stay calm, relax, and avoid stress, and everything will be fine.
Will: Are you stressed about the wedding?
Abigail: No, no. Uh... about, um...
Abigail: Yeah. Ben's upset that I'm upset.
Will: Well, he's jealous, obviously.
Abigail: Yeah, I know. He is.
Will: Can you blame him?
Abigail: No. No, not really.
Will: Abigail, if--if Ben had a girlfriend who he talked to every single day and who was in his thoughts-- I mean, you have to admit you'd be a little jealous too, right?
Abigail: Yeah, but, will, I've known Chad a really long time.
Will: Abigail, you don't have to defend yourself to me. I get it.
Abigail: Thanks. You haven't, um-- [Clears throat] You haven't heard from Chad, have you?
Will: No. Have you?
Abigail: Actually, uh, I'm... I'm the one who helped him hide from the police.
Will: You what?
Abigail: I know that he's innocent.
Will: Abigail, no.
Abigail: I know he's innocent.
Will: You cannot know that. My grandmother said that he attacked her!
Abigail: No, he didn't! He tried to save her. He walked in, and that man was strangling her, and then the man ran away, and when your grandmother suddenly came to, he was standing over her, and that is what happened.
Will: That's what Chad says.
Abigail: He's your friend. Will, he is your friend.
Will: Abigail, you have to admit... this doesn't look good.
Abigail: No, I know! I know it doesn't look good. It doesn't look good because he is being framed.
Will: You committed a crime by helping him.
Abigail: You wouldn't-- I mean--
Will: No, of course I'm not going to say anything.
Abigail: You're not gonna say anything about that.
Will: No, Abigail. But you have to understand that if what you're saying is true, then the safest place for Chad right now is in police custody.
Abigail: See, but the thing is... Chad thinks that Clyde is the one who's setting him up.
Will: W-why--because you and Chad had a relationship?
Abigail: I didn't believe it at first either, but then Ben was here, and he got this call saying that his dad got arrested.
Will: For murder?
Abigail: I don't know. Ben went to the police station, and he told me that I should stay here and take it easy.
Will: Oh. I mean, I want Chad to be cleared just as much as anyone else, but if Ben's father is the killer--
Abigail: I know.
Will: Abigail, you have to promise me not to get involved in this. You have to let the police sort this out.
Abigail: Will, I can't, okay? I'm--I'm going crazy, all right? I need to know that Chad is right about this, and I have to know that the police found some proof.
Will: Abigail, listen, you have to put yourself first... please.
Abigail: I feel very, very on edge right now, and I think that maybe... [Sighs] Maybe it's just the hormones, but I... I feel like I'm gonna just go crazy if I stay in this house and just--
Will: I know. Abigail... I know that Ben wants you to stay here because he's worried about you and the baby. But maybe... you know, if you showed-- showed him some support, he'd appreciate that.
Abigail: Yeah. I think that you're right. It's just-- I have to stay here for this cable guy who's supposed to be here from 12:00 to 8:00.
Will: I can do that. I can hang around.
Abigail: Would you mind, will? Would you do that for me?
Will: Yeah, of course. I mean, I can write from here just as easily as anywhere else.
Abigail: Thanks, will. You are just the best. Oh, okay. Thank you.
Ben: JJ, did you have something to do with my father being arrested?
Roman: Ben, take it easy.
Ben: Oh, oh... you did it, you little creep.
Roman: I said, "take it easy."
Ben: I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the scum who's about to become my brother-in-law.
JJ: I did this to protect Abigail. I know this is hard, but you love her. You would've done the same thing.
Ben: What the hell are you talking about?
JJ: Ben, I don't think you really knew your father. I don't think any of us did. I mean, I heard that he had this past, but he was all, "I'm a changed man." Um, and we all bought it.
Ben: Because it's true, JJ!
JJ: You have no idea--
Ben: No, no, you have no idea, pal, so shut the hell up!
JJ: Come on, make me shut up!
Chad: You found me.
Abigail: How did you know it was me?
Chad: Harold isn't so light on his feet.
Abigail: Well... neither am I, these days.
Chad: Abby, what are you doing here?
Abigail: I just came to see how you were, Chad. I wanted to make sure you were okay.
Chad: What if you were followed?
Abigail: I was super careful.
Chad: I'm more worried about you than me. I don't want you getting in trouble for helping me hide out, and I definitely don't want to cause any more problems with you and Ben.
Abigail: Ben is actually the reason I'm here. I wasn't expecting to see you at all. I was hoping that Stefano was going to be here and I could give him a message to give to you. Isn't this the worst possible place you could be, Chad? I mean, wouldn't this be the first place the police would check when they were looking for you?
Chad: Well, the cops have actually searched here a bunch of times already, and even if they came back, we have hidden passageways. So this is actually kind of the safest place for me to be right now.
Chad: Yeah, I wasn't gonna rely on my father's help, but I had to admit to myself that I didn't really have another choice.
Abigail: Well, I hope this is over soon. What I wanted to say was, um... Ben's father was just arrested. You knew that.
Abigail: Did you have anything to do with it, Chad?
Roman: Damn it! Take it easy! Calm down!
Ben: What have you got against my father, JJ, huh? He's had a tough life, and he didn't always do right by us, okay? But he's trying now, and just because you don't have a father, JJ--
JJ: Don't even go there! My dad did some things that he wasn't proud of, but I always stood by him. But Clyde... oh, I'm gonna really feel for you, man, when you find out the truth.
Donner: Commissioner Brady... I understand that you're holding my client, Clyde Weston, without cause.
Roman: Here's all the cause in the world, ms. Donner.
Donner: Here's me, being unimpressed. May I see Mr. Weston?
Roman: Yes, you may. Follow me. All right, you two... behave, okay?
Clyde: Hey, Ms. Donner. Thank you for coming down so quickly.
Donner: Of course. As soon as I can establish that the police have been wasting their time...
Roman: You take all the time you need. I don't think you'll be going anywhere soon.
Donner: First things first... I don't want to know if any of this is true.
Clyde: [Chuckles] What, you don't believe in my innocence, counselor?
Donner: I do my job regardless. I assume you want me to fight the extradition?
Clyde: I do.
Donner: I'll do what I can.
Clyde: Well, you're not being paid to do what you can. You're being paid for results.
Donner: If you're sent to Florida, you're not paying me at all, in which case I do have some recommendations for fine attorneys in the Miami area.
Donner: Oh. You'd rather find someone on your own?
Clyde: No, I'm not going to Florida. It is your job to find a loophole and make this all go away.
Chad: Of course I didn't have anything to do with Ben's dad getting arrested. Why would I do that?
Abigail: I mean, Stefano could pretty much just snap his fingers and--
Chad: Well, my father's police contacts say that it's drug-related.
Abigail: Drugs... Clyde?
Chad: That's all I know. It has nothing to do with the murders.
Abigail: Why? Why not?
Chad: Well, apparently the police have been trying to tie Clyde to a local drug ring for some time now. You should probably ask your brother, JJ.
Abigail: Why would I ask JJ?
Chad: Just saying. We all heard he was dealing out of Horton center.
Abigail: Oh, my God. You know, that was a really, really vicious lie that was--
Chad: Okay, but you didn't let me finish.
Abigail: I can't believe that you're--
Chad: You didn't let me finish. Whoever started that rumor about JJ did it for a reason. I think it's all connected. JJ's gonna know more than any of us.
Abigail: I'll ask him.
Chad: So go ask him. Yeah, Abby, I-I... I really don't get it.
Chad: You're getting married. You're having a baby. You're happy, right?
Abigail: Yeah, of course I'm happy.
Chad: Okay, and you know how much it upsets Ben when you come to see me.
Abigail: Well, that's because he thinks that you're dangerous.
Chad: Well, that's because he thinks you have feelings for me. Why don't you tell me the real reason why you're here tonight?
Abigail: I came here because I don't think that Clyde has anything to do with those killings, and if you are trying to railroad my fiancé's father--
Chad: Do you really think that I would do that? If Clyde's the killer, he should be caught, right?
Chad: Yes. The killer should be stopped, and I would really love to start living my life again, Abby.
Abigail: Well, I would-- I would really love that too.
Chad: You and Ben were supposed to leave Salem. Why are you here?
Abigail: Because we changed our minds.
Chad: Can't say I'm surprised.
Abigail: [Laughs] And what does that mean?
Chad: It's just the two of us here, Abby. Why don't you tell me the real reason why you just can't seem to stay away from me?
Abigail: That is pretty egotistical of you.
Chad: What is?
Abigail: Well, I mean... to assume that I can't stay away from you because you are just that irresistible?
Chad: You have done plenty of resisting, Abby. I poured my heart out to you and you rejected me, remember?
Abigail: Maybe you don't remember, Chad.
Chad: I just can't figure out what it is. Is it the baby, you're feeling trapped? Or maybe it's because you don't really want to tell me--
Abigail: Okay, just--just stop, all right? I'm not going to say what you want to hear, so just-- I don't-- Ben needs me. He's very close to his father, and he's gonna need me right now.
Chad: Well, maybe you should've stopped by there in the first place, then.
Abigail: I'll make sure nobody sees me when I leave.
Chad: Well, it might actually be easier if you use the hidden passageways to the underground tunnel. It sounds a bit gothic. It's not that bad. Bunch of cobwebs, but... that way, you'll know where it is in case you--you'll be coming to find me... again.
Will: We were really happy.
[Cell phone beeps]
Will: Sonny, hey. Um... um, I-I-it must be the middle of the night over there. I... I just wanted to hear your voice. And--and I wanted to say to you that, um... that I-I've blaming just about everyone for what went wrong with us... but I'm finally able to admit to you and to everyone else... that I'm the one who screwed up, and all of this talk that I've said about taking ownership of my mistakes-- I wasn't. And, um... I'm just finally able to accept that this is all my fault. I love you so much, Sonny. And even if I never get a chance to be back together with you, I have to make this right for you. Um... I love you. Good night--um, good morning.
Ben: Why are you still hanging around here?
JJ: Your dad threatened to kill me. I'm not going anywhere until I'm satisfied that he can't come after me.
Ben: You keep standing here, JJ, and I'll come after you.
Clyde: Ben, don't! Hey, don't worry. I'm gonna beat this. Worst-case scenario, I go to Florida for a little bit. When I get off, I'll be back in time for your wedding.
Clyde: I give you my word. Family's what matters most. Right?
Roman: All right, let's go.
Clyde: [Chuckling] Well... hey, Mr. Jennings. Fancy meeting you here.
Aiden: Good luck, Clyde.
Clyde: You can keep your luck, counselor. You might need it someday.
Aiden: Yeah, I hear you're going down to Florida. Salem won't be the same without you.
Roman: All right, Clyde, let's go.
Clyde: I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of each other, counselor.
Ben: What are you-- what are you doing here? I thought you were going to stay home and rest.
Abigail: I couldn't. I was too worried. How are you? How's your dad? Hey, this is just a crazy misunderstanding, right?
Ben: Why don't you ask your brother?
Ben: I need to get some air.
Abigail: Wait, Ben. Hey, are you okay?
Ben: Yeah, yeah. And no matter what anybody else tells you, my dad's innocent.
Abigail: What is going on?
Abigail: JJ, what are you doing here?
JJ: It's a long story.
Abigail: Are you okay? JJ, why did--why did Ben say that you have anything to do with Clyde being arrested? JJ... what have you gotten yourself into now?
André: [Sighs] Weston's apartment has been searched.
André: Mm. There was nothing to tie Weston to the murders, to the drugs, or anything else... of any kind of illegal activity.
Chad: Well, we know how that goes. It doesn't mean he's innocent.
Chad: I'm not surprised we didn't find anything. Clyde may be a lot of things, but he's not sloppy.
André: We've been watching him since he came to Salem.
Chad: How long have you been here?
André: As I was saying... Weston doesn't make many mistakes, because he doesn't allow his emotions to get in the way of what he wants, and apparently, he's not foolish enough to leave evidence lying around in his house, where somebody else can find it!
