Nicole: Oh, I should have known. I should have seen right through that sneaky little-- no wonder Theresa didn't tell me who her partner was, because she knew exactly how I'd react.
Kate: Or maybe she wanted to wait until you were fully vested in the idea of the partnership, and realized that the players aren't as important as the game itself.
Nicole: What Theresa and you should have known, if you didn't have your heads so far up your-- what you should have known is there's no way in hell I would have signed off on you being part of basic black.
Justin: Yeah, those.
Justin: So glad you suggested this. Allow me.
Adrienne: Oh, thank you. So glad you agreed.
Justin: After we signed the divorce papers, I thought there was no going back for us.
Adrienne: Well, there was a lot of hurt.
Justin: And, uh, I was to blame for most of it.
Adrienne: I don't want-- let's not play the blame game. What's important is that we're here now trying to make it work.
Adrienne: Do you really think we have a shot?
Justin: I wouldn't be here if I didn't think so.
Adrienne: We really did bottom out this time, didn't we?
Justin: That's why we have nowhere to go but up.
Rafe: I understand that this is a difficult time for you. Obviously you're grieving, but, um, I don't understand where you came up with this. You're way off base here.
Eve: Oh, really? So, you've been keeping tabs on your long-lost dad? You know exactly what he's been up to?
Rafe: No. No, I haven't, bu--
Eve: Rafe, listen to me, I know this sounds crazy, and I'm still processing it myself, but it's the truth. Paige, she was your half sister. Eddie was her father too.
Gabi: [Mutters indistinctly] [Giggles] Mmm.
Ben: Hey, dr. Evans.
Marlena: Oh, Ben, hi. How are you?
Ben: I'm better. Thanks to you.
Marlena: What did I do?
Ben: I didn't think it was possible, but my dad has been a kinder, gentler Clyde since he finished up his sessions with you. You did him a lot of good.
Marlena: You know I can't really discuss a patient. Um...
Marlena: But I'm so glad to hear that you're getting along better.
Ben: Yeah, we are. He's just been really optimistic about life for the first time in a long time. And me? I'm marrying the woman of my dreams.
[Knock at door]
Abigail: Hey, he's okay. He's better than okay. He was just taken down to do some tests.
Chad: [Sighs] Okay, thank you. For a second I thought that, uh...
Abigail: You kidding me? It's Stefano. He's practically immortal, right? You had to know he'd be okay.
I've, uh... been meaning to call you. I've been anxious to hear how it went with the hypnosis. So, hopefully, Marlena was able to help you find out exactly where you were the night both of those women were murdered, and you were able to get an alibi and everything's... fine. Chad?
Ben: I never thought I'd care about place cards or color schemes, but...
Ben: I'm really looking forward to meeting with the wedding planner. And, I don't know, maybe it's just that I like having this time with Abigail.
Marlena: Spoken like a true groom. And I wish you and Abby every happiness.
Ben: Oh, isn't it congratulate the groom, best wishes for the bride?
Marlena: Ooh, you are up on your wedding etiquette. Good for you.
Marlena: Oh, you know, Ben, I'm sorry, I have to get back to the hospital.
Ben: Oh, it's okay. I'll come with you. I wanna surprise Abigail.
Marlena: Okay, let's do it.
Ben: All right. [Chuckles]
Chad: Hypnosis isn't quite like it is in the movies. You don't just, uh, count backwards from ten and it all comes flooding back. Marlena says it's gonna be a process.
Abigail: Chad... your freedom depends on this. Does she know that?
Chad: Yeah, she does. We have another session.
Abigail: Good. That's good. I hope it's soon.
Chad: It is. You know, I've also been looking into whether or not I was drugged.
Abigail: Well, you had to be. I mean, Chad, it's just too much of a coincidence that you don't remember what happened either night.
Chad: Well, I remember Clyde being there the night that I was with Serena, but... it's just a dead-end.
Abigail: Hey. Do not give up. Okay? We're gonna figure this out. We're gonna find an answer to this.
Abigail: Chad, I don't care what Justin or the police or what anybody says. I know you. I know you, and you are stubborn, and you're headstrong, and you're impulsive, but... you did not do this. Once you unlock those memories, then everyone is gonna see the truth.
Adrienne: Have you seen the latest?
Justin: No. Show me.
Adrienne: [Laughs] Look.
Justin: Aww, look at that. Selfies from la marais?
Adrienne: Uh-huh. He looks so happy, doesn't he?
Justin: Or like he's trying to be happy.
Justin: Sometimes that's the best we can do.
Adrienne: I know, I know. I miss sonny so much, but I think this distance right now is good for him. Um, you know what? We could look at these pictures anytime. I think, right now, we have to do the hard thing.
Justin: Okay, what's that?
Adrienne: Stop talking like parents, and turn this into a date. Okay?
Adrienne: I miss hearing about you. I mean, how's the new job? Really? I miss hearing about you, Justin.
Justin: Well, let me see. Um... when it ended for us, I really didn't like where I was. On so many levels. But I feel like I'm in a better place now. I really like my new job. I feel like I'm finally doing something that I'm supposed to be doing. And when I get Chad DiMera on double murder...
Adrienne: What if he's not guilty?
Justin: He wouldn't be the first raging narcissist to go off the rails.
Adrienne: Go off the rails is different than murdering two innocent women.
Justin: Not in this case. I am going to be the first DA to nail a DiMera and make it stick.
Adrienne: Nail a DiMera?
Justin: What? Does that offend you somehow?
Adrienne: Well, no, but it just sounds like you're using your position as a DA to stir up the old Kiriakis/DiMera family feud again.
Nicole: I don't have to listen to this.
Kate: Okay, Nicole, it's practically a fait accompli. All right? So, what I say is, grow up, lean in. You can't get rid of me. Why don't we sit down and find a way to work this out?
Nicole: Because I would rather have my nails pulled out with a pair of pliers.
Eve: I heard it from Eddie himself. He told me that you were his son. I just assumed he abandoned Paige and me same way he abandoned your family. He was going by a different name when I met him. Called himself Larson.
Rafe: Why would he change his name?
Eve: I don't know. I mean, does it really matter now? I mean...
Rafe: Oh, my god. So, did Paige ever know?
Eve: Oh, yeah. She knew him. She, um... she absolutely adored him. I mean, he could be so attentive, loving.
Eve: Then there were times that, uh, she asked me that, "is it my fault, mama? Did he leave because of me? Was it something that I did? Did he think that I wasn't a good girl?" And it just--it absolutely-- god, it broke my heart, you know?
Eve: And I think I had finally convinced her that it had nothing to do with her. Absolutely nothing. And I think she actually eventually believed me.
Rafe: Yeah. [Scoffs] Gabi was, um... she never really got to know him. She was so young.
Rafe: Oh, you know, I remember we were obviously so shocked when he left.
Rafe: And then angry. And Gabi was just, um-- well, she was sad she never really got to know her dad.
Eve: Rafe, I know you must be really bitter about being abandoned like that, but a guy who could do something like that, you don't want him around. Who could walk away from two families and never look back.
Rafe: No, I know. So, what, the son of a bitch, he just comes back into town and now we're all supposed to, what? Welcome him with open arms? Is that it?
Eve: I don't know. I don't think that's gonna be the case. 'Cause he told me that he was gonna leave as soon as Paige's funeral was over.
Rafe: Oh, well, that's not soon enough for me.
Gabi: Oh, Ari. Okay, wait, let me get mine. Okay, hold on. [Gasps] Oh! Ari, hold on. Excuse me, sir?
Gabi: Yeah, um, I need your help.
Ben: What is this?
Abigail: Ben, I was just--I was walking by Stefano's room and I saw that Chad was upset about his dad and I was just reassuring him.
Ben: Damn it, Abigail, I told you how worried I was about you. I asked you to stay away from him and you promised me that you would. And now, not 24 hours later, here you are with his hands on you.
Abigail: Ben, no. I need you to listen to me, okay? [Stammers] That's not what's happening here. Okay, I just--I was just reassuring him. He just needed a friend, and I--
Ben: He needed a friend?
Ben: And it had to be you? All he has to do is pout and you break your word to me.
Ben: And here I am walking around on cloud nine like an idiot, bragging about our wedding plans.
Abigail: No, Ben, please. You just have to listen to me, okay?
Ben: No, no, no. I won't listen. Why should I? I can't take your word for anything anymore.
Abigail: Ben, that's not true. Okay, please, just listen to me, okay? We have worked so hard to get to a good place right now. This is just a misunderstanding.
Ben: No, no, no.
Abigail: Yes, it is. No--
Ben: It's a lot more than a misunderstanding, Abigail.
Ben: This is you... this is you breaking your promise to me to stay away from this bastard. And now you expect me to make you my wife when you lie so easily?
Ben: Why would I do that? What kind of fool do you take me for?
Justin: Adrienne, you are wrong about that. Chad is a DiMera through and through, but this case is not about his family versus mine.
Adrienne: And you're completely objective? No ax to grind?
Justin: Adrienne, this is a chance for me to do something notable, and maybe for the first time in my life it has nothing to do with what my last name is. It's on my own merit. On my skill as a prosecutor. And it's a once in a lifetime case. And it's mine.
Adrienne: People are gonna be talking about it for years, how single-minded and driven you were. Ruthless.
Justin: People will know that they need to take me seriously. If that's ruthless, fine. You disapprove?
Adrienne: When you were talking just now, you said you were so happy that you were doing something on your own, away from the Kiriakis name. And yet, what you were saying, you know, the tone of your voice...
Justin: What? Tell me.
Adrienne: It never sounded more like victor.
Rafe: The sister I never really knew. Now I get to learn about her this way.
Eve: She was one of a kind. She was.
Eve: She's so smart and funny... [Laughs] And gentle. It just amazed me that I could have given life to such a gentle soul, you know? Made me feel like maybe I wasn't such a bad person after all.
Eve: Then I realized that her goodness and sweetness didn't reflect on me at all.
Rafe: Listen, uh, I'm really sorry that you're going through all this.
Eve: If I could just go back and get those last few months, you know?
Rafe: Well...listen. Maybe when this is all over... or when the investigation's over, maybe we can get together and we can talk about her.
Eve: Oh, gosh, Rafe, I'd like that.
Eve: I would. That'd be nice.
Rafe: Yeah, that'd be great.
Rafe: Great. I could get to know her. [Sighs] Listen, obviously, now that I know she's my sister, I just want you to know, it doesn't make a difference. I was already 100% committed to this case. We are gonna find whoever did this, we are.
Rafe: We're gonna make 'em pay, I promise you that.
Eve: Okay. Thanks.
Eve: Oh... I should go.
Eve: Oh, gosh.
Rafe: Okay, I will call you as soon as I hear anything, all right?
Rafe: As soon as I know something.
[Both crying] Hey, one last...
Rafe: How old was Paige when Eduardo left?
Eve: She was still all legs and pigtails. She was just ten.
Gabi: Would you mind?
Eduardo: Oh, yeah.
Gabi: It's so crazy how kids get attached to these things. I don't know what she would do if she woke up tomorrow and her little pink bunny was gone.
Eduardo: Yeah. She's beautiful.
Gabi: Thank you. Do you have any kids? Any grandkids?
Abigail: Ben, please, you don't mean this, okay?
Ben: I'm out of here.
Abigail: No, you don't mean this, Ben.
Chad: Come on, man, Abigail's the best thing that's ever gonna happen to you. Don't punish her because she has a heart. She knows I'm going through something and she reached out. That's who she is.
Ben: Don't you tell me who she is.
Abigail: Ben. Ben, look at me. Hey, Ben. Hey, Ben, I love you. I love you and you know that, okay? Let's just go somewhere and talk, okay? We just need to talk just the two of us. Excuse us.
Ben: No, I'm done talking. I'm done.
Abigail: No, no, Ben.
Ben: I'm done.
Abigail: Wait, Ben, we--
Chad: God, just let me--
Abigail: No, don't, don't! Don't, you're just gonna make it worse. It's gonna be fine. Once he calms down it'll be fine. [Sighs]
Chad: I'm just gonna go see Marlena.
Abigail: Oh, uh, good. That's good.
Chad: I didn't mean to make trouble for you.
Abigail: No, I know. It's okay. I just want you to stay focused today, okay? And I hope that you have some real progress.
Chad: Yeah. Ben's right about one thing. You're better off staying away from me.
Marlena: Patient presents with a history of manic mood type. His current stressors include interaction with his primary support group. He identifies specific issues that--
Chad: I know, I'm really sorry to interrupt. I know I didn't make an appointment, but I need you to put me under again.
Marlena: Why? Did something happen?
Chad: No, I just realized that it's not just about me anymore, and that it's-- this whole thing, it's affecting other people, so...
Marlena: Chad, I will gladly make time for you, but you're far too agitated. You've gotta calm yourself down. Whatever is going on that's got you upset, you've gotta put that aside. Can you do that?
Kate: Well, hopefully you've gotten all that sturm and drang out of your system, and now, we can get down to business.
Nicole: This ain't no sturm and drang. This is reality, okay? And I have absolutely no intention of working with you.
Kate: Oh, right. Because your delicate moral compass can't handle being near to me?
Nicole: Don't you dare talk down to me.
Kate: What I'm going to talk to you about is the truth. We're not talking about us getting mani-pedis together, Nicole. We're talking about business, about making money. Something I know that you're not adverse to. So, why don't we just establish that from now through eternity, perhaps even longer, you will never like me, I will never like you? Nevertheless, together we can get rich. What do you say?
Eduardo: When it comes to me and kids, I don't have the magic touch that...
Eduardo: You seem to have with this little one.
Gabi: Well, I wouldn't say magic touch, but, um--but I know I couldn't love this little girl any more. And you know that, don't you, sugar, hmm? My little cutie pie. Oh, look, uncle Rafe. Hey! Hey. Uh, Arianna's toy fell and this nice gentleman over here picked it up. It landed over there.
Rafe: You know what, Gabi? It's getting chilly out. It's time to take Ari home.
Gabi: Okay. Yeah, let's go home. It's, uh, close to dinnertime anyway. Say, "bye, uncle Rafe." Uh, nice to meet you, sir.
Eduardo: Yeah, you too.
Rafe: See ya. So, tell me. Which family are you here to reconcile with, hmm? Multiple choice question.
Marlena: I want you to clear your mind completely. Let your body relax. Be aware of your breathing. That's good. I want you to go back to a few days ago. You saw Paige Larson in the square. You argued because she saw you with Serena. Was that the last time you saw Paige that day?
Chad: I don't know. The day just ends there. Just ends. Now I'M... I'm back in my hotel room.
Marlena: Let's go back a little farther... a couple more days. You're in your club. You're with Serena. She gets upset. She slapped you. Her fingernail cuts your lip. You're bleeding. She walked out. What happened next? What did you do next? Chad, what do you see? Tell me what you see now.
Chad: Someone's here.
Marlena: Okay, tell me what--
Chad: Get off of me!
Marlena: Chad, you're safe. You're safe. Nothing can hurt you right now.
Chad: We're fighting.
Marlena: Okay, okay. Calm your breath. You're fine.
Chad: I don't know what's happening, I can't tell what-- I don't know what the hell is happening. [Gasps]
Nicole: So, you want me to happily sign as partners with a woman who is the undisputed queen of blackmailing, forgery, double dealing, and god knows what else? Oh, and in case you need me to elaborate, you drugged my brother Brandon. You drugged Sami Brady. You held Daniel hostage. You nearly killed Stefano. You tried to cover nick's death. Oh, and you almost killed your own son when you set that fire. My god, woman, what haven't you done? Yet, you want me to ride shotgun while you wreak even more havoc with everyone? Oh, I mean... [Laughs] Your whole life has been a testament of excess while you've grabbed and clawed for the things you felt you had coming to you. [Scoffs] I mean, I am not perfect, but I don't bat in your league when it comes to leaving a trail of misery and destruction wherever I've been. What? No legendary Kate Roberts comeback? No arguing? No giving it to me in kind? Come on. Wow. Is it possible I actually got through to you? That you finally see what the rest of us have always known about you?
Rafe: See, here I thought you only abandoned our family, but you were just getting started, weren't you? Once you learned how to do it, you did it again. You went to another family. You left another wife and a daughter. I'm sorry that you didn't get to see your other daughter grow up. I'm sure that must be breaking your heart.
Eduardo: I screwed up.
Eduardo: Twice. But I'm sincere in wanting to reconnect with you. And I'm sincere in my grief over my daughter.
Rafe: So, you think that I give a damn about your sincerity? And don't talk to me about grief 'cause you don't get to grieve. You don't grieve if you walk out on people. That's for people who give a damn. And as far as reconnecting with me or Gabi, and working your way back into her life, that's not gonna happen.
Eduardo: Yeah, maybe not.
Rafe: Yeah, maybe.
Eduardo: Her daughter, my--my grandbaby... she's very beautiful.
Rafe: Yeah, she is. Hope you got a good look at her 'cause it's gonna have to last you a long time.
Eduardo: Yeah, I know that. I will be leaving soon.
Rafe: Good. I actually heard that. After Paige's funeral, right? Yeah, you should stick to that plan. In the meantime, stay the hell away from me and my family.
Abigail: [Sighs] [Crying] Help me. [Sobbing] [Gasps]
Chad: I was this close. I was this close to something important. It was a fight, I know that much, but who was it with? Was it with Serena? Did we just go through all of this to find out that it was me? That I am actually the killer?
Marlena: Chad, we don't have to fill in the details. I think what we should do is pause and regroup before we try this again. But the important part is you've opened the door. Now the information will begin to flow as soon as your mind is ready.
Chad: Thank you for seeing me today and for your help.
Marlena: Of cour--oh.
Kate: I didn't really hear anything that begged for a response, frankly. I mean, you were venting, which I know can be therapeutic. That's why I didn't want to interrupt you, and-- although, actually, if you wanna spew some more venom, please, please, go ahead.
Nicole: That's funny. That's--ha--that's very funny. Make light of it all you want, Kate, but you know damn well I was doing a lot more than venting. I was trying to make it crystal clear to you that you will have no part of this deal. No way, no how. And if you doubt me, if you continue to be snide and dismissive and grandiose... you'll come to regret it. Deeply. [Scoffs] Theresa, where the hell are you?
Adrienne: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You know what? We were having a good time and I go and hit the rewind button on our not-so-greatest hits.
Justin: It's okay. God knows you've witnessed enough at the Kiriakis mansion. You're justified to be a little concerned. But, Adrienne, I want this to work too.
Justin: Yeah, it's Justin. Okay, I'll be at the station in ten. Sorry, I gotta...
Adrienne: No, no, no.
Justin: Go deal with this.
Adrienne: No worries. Let's rain check that dessert. How about that?
Justin: Or you can come with me and then after we're done, we can go back to the mansion. Whole night still ahead of us.
Adrienne: Um, I think, no, maybe I'll just go home and try to get to bed early, okay?
Justin: Okay. I understand.
Adrienne: I just think we should take things slowly this time, okay? Please?
Adrienne: Baby steps.
Justin: Yeah, sure.
Adrienne: Thank you.
Marlena: Dr. Evans.
Rafe: Marlena, it's Rafe. Just wanted to touch base on the profile of the killer.
Marlena: I haven't gotten to that yet, but as soon as I have information, so will you. Rafe, I gotta go. Bye.
Where do you go when lightning crashes and everything has turned to dust what do you do when all you've got is love and everything you love is gone at the end of this can we stay in yesterday can we dream today away can we make tomorrow fade fade away oh to beautiful yesterday mm-hmm beautiful yesterday
Marlena: [Gasps] [Choking, grunting]
Marlena: [Gasping, choking]
