Provided By Suzanne
John: All right, this is the last one.
Marlena: Good. Good. I'd just forgotten what a pack rat you are.
John: Actually, I'm famous for traveling light.
Marlena: Oh. Maybe the topic of traveling isn't good at the moment.
John: No, it's time to celebrate the fact that I am home forever.
Marlena: Forever, at least until the ISA calls and sends you on a mission.
Theresa: What are you talking about? I don't even drink that much.
Brady: No, but anytime you're upset or things aren't going your way, you just head right for the wine. I don't want Tate around that kind of behavioral pattern.
Theresa: I'm not upset, and things are going my way. In fact, I don't know that I've ever felt better in my entire life.
Daniel: I am really sorry I'm gonna be late for dinner. That surgery was more complicated than I thought.
Nicole: Couldn't you have told the patient that you had dinner plans? Oh, surgeons' wives aren't supposed to say things like that, are they?
Daniel: It's frowned upon.
Nicole: [Laughs] Don't worry. I'll get the hang of it.
Daniel: I think you already have. I love you.
Nicole: I love you too, doctor. Bye.
Kate: Nicole walker as the stoic housewife. Talk about playing against type.
Nicole: Hi, Kate. Why don't you drop dead?
Kate: I have a better idea. Why don't I keep you company?
Aiden: [Muttering] Now, you said yes, yeah?
Aiden: You said yes!
Aiden: You said yes! Now, you will marry me?
Hope: Yes, I will marry you.
Aiden: Baby, baby, you just made me the happiest... mwah! Man in the world. Oh! Oh.
Justin: Do you want me to call anybody?
Justin: Should I just take you home?
Eve: I'm alone.
Justin: Okay. All right.
Eve: All alone. My Paige. [Sobbing]
Justin: Hey, hey, hey, hey. You're not alone. You're not alone. I'm right here. I'm right here.
Hope: [Laughs] Is there any chance of you putting me down in the near future?
Aiden: Baby, I am never, never gonna put you down. I'm never gonna let you down. And I'm gonna tell you something. Chase is gonna be so happy. I mean, he's gonna get a new mom. He's gonna get a new sister. And he already loves you both.
Hope: And we love him. We're gonna be a family.
Aiden: We are gonna be a family.
Aiden: That's right.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: Oh, should you get that?
Hope: You sure?
Aiden: Whatever it is, it can wait. All right, let me focus here.
Aiden: Where's that ring?
Hope: The ring.
Aiden: The ring, yes.
Hope: Okay, well, let me move this one.
Hope: Okay. Mr. Jennings.
Aiden: All righty. All right, now, I told you that this ring doesn't mean a thing to me unless it's on your finger. Now it means the world to me. What is it? What's wrong?
Justin: It's okay.
Eve: I got--I got-- I'm gonna go.
Justin: Wow. Can't even imagine what she's going through.
Rafe: Me neither. Her only kid, dying like that. Can't think of anything worse.
Justin: Well, well, well, look who's back.
Rafe: Have a seat. Boy, well, the DA, they're ready to lock you up and throw away the key. But I'm not jumping to conclusions, so right now, I'm your best friend.
Chad: Looks like I don't have a friend in the world, then.
Rafe: Huh, that's too bad. Sounds lonely. Let's talk about this, shall we? It was found in the shower next to Paige Larson's body?
Chad: Well, with all due respect to Paige Larson, so what?
Rafe: Looks like it was on the bottom of someone's shoe.
Rafe: My point is, this flower, it's not found in Salem. In fact, it's not even found in the united states, so guess what. I did some checking, and I found out that it's imported from Europe, and guess where it goes specifically. To the DiMera mansion.
Chad: Well, I don't live there anymore, so...
Rafe: Oh, I'm sorry. A man without a home, huh? So where were you this afternoon?
Theresa: Have you ever had this feeling that you're talented at something, something that no one else knows about, but then you wonder if maybe you're lying to yourself?
Brady: You lie to everyone else. Why make a personal exception?
Theresa: But here's how you find out you're right. You get confirmation that you actually are talented from someone who can't stand you.
Brady: You actually found somebody that couldn't stand you?
Theresa: Abigail Deveraux, who'd like to see me rot in hell, had to admit that my sketches are really, really good. I mean, here, just take a look.
Brady: They are good.
Brady: Very good.
Theresa: Thank you. Look, Brady, please let me prove myself to you. Okay, I'll hire someone who knows the business, and I'll learn as I go.
Brady: Theresa, why?
Theresa: What do you mean? I literally just told you--
Brady: No, why? Why do you really want to do this?
Nicole: You want to hang out. Cool. You just let me know how you want to handle the "we can't stand each other" thing.
Kate: I say we table it until you hear what I have to say.
Nicole: Ooh, shot in the dark, wild, wild guess-- the only reason you want to shoot the breeze is because I came into a lot of money? Huh.
Kate: I have to tell you the truth. I was so impressed with the way that you parlayed a horrific near-death experience into a major chunk of change. Tip of the hat to you.
Nicole: Well, it sure as hell beats marrying someone you hate.
Kate: God, is that true.
Nicole: Well, that chunk of change is no longer the figure that was quoted in the paper.
Kate: What did you do? Did you blow it all on candy?
Nicole: [Laughs] No. I gave Serena's portion to charity.
Kate: What? A moment of weakness?
Nicole: Well, I'm glad I did because of, you know, what happened to her.
Kate: Yeah, well, and it will give you a substantial tax write-off.
Nicole: That's true.
Kate: But what about the quarter mil that Victor gave you for Xander's share of the settlement?
Nicole: Hmm. Dear Kate, that's none of your business. Okay, fine, I'll bite. Would you just tell me what you want from me?
Kate: Basic Black.
Nicole: You want to talk to me about Basic Black?
Kate: Now that john has ruined it, we could get it for a song.
Nicole: We, as in you and me?
Kate: I know that you're interested in buying the company, and so am I. But I have a slight cash flow situation right now, so I thought, why not let bygones be bygones?
Nicole: Yeah, I just bet you do.
Kate: We could pool our resources, and we could take it over ourselves.
Theresa: Look, Brady, I understand that you have reservations--
Brady: Theresa, look. If I were to help you out with this little scheme, I think it would be a lot like giving me that first little taste of cocaine. First you'd start planning how to get the ring back on your finger, then how to get your name on the marriage license, then how to get your name on my joint checking account. I'm not feeding into that delusion. And by the way, when I told Nicole that I would help her, I agreed to front her half the money that she needs.
Theresa: [Scoffs] What? Because she's never lied or cheated before.
Brady: This conversation is over. It's over.
Theresa: Fine. But you know what? I'm gonna get that money, and I'm gonna buy that company. Nicole walker can just go to hell. [Sighs]
Hope: What could be wrong? Just got engaged to the man that I love.
Aiden: Who knows you really, really well. I always want you to be honest with me, okay, even if you think it's something I don't want to hear. It's about Bo, isn't it?
Hope: I feel that I have been completely honest with you about everything.
Aiden: Baby, listen to me. I understand that. I do. And I understand that the good memories are still precious and the bad ones are scary. And I know the way that he left you has-- has made you a bit gun-shy. Listen to me. I won't do that to you. Gonna love you for always. But if he's gonna be a cloud over our heads, well, then this isn't gonna work.
Bo: [Groans] [Coughs]
This would be so much easier on you if you'd just cooperate. We have all the time in the world, but you... you don't have much left unless you tell us what we want to know. Hey?
Hope: I definitely would not have said yes unless I was really ready to marry you. I'm yours.
Aiden: You know, since the kids are having a sleepover, maybe we could have one too, maybe.
[Cell phone rings]
Hope: Maybe you have to answer this.
Aiden: I'm sorry. I'll just--I'll see who it is, and then... hello. Don't say anything. I'll be right there. I'm sorry. I just--
Hope: No, it's okay. This is what our life is going to be like. You have to go. I know.
Aiden: Yeah. You know how much I hate that, don't you?
Aiden: Yeah. Okay.
John: I didn't know you cared.
Brady: They're not for you. A tribute for agreeing to put up with my old man one more time.
Marlena: [Laughs] Thank you. And I got your sparkling water.
Brady: Thank you.
Marlena: So we can toast to john's new job.
John: Here we go.
Marlena: Yeah, he's going back to work for the ISA. But this time, it's gonna be different.
Brady: Are you-- are you serious? Really?
Marlena: Yeah, this time, he's not gonna be gone from home, and this time, it won't be dangerous at all.
Brady: You're taking a desk job, right? Yeah, I didn't think so.
Marlena: You look about as happy about this as I am.
Brady: Well, I mean, I'm sure this time-- I mean, this time, the bad guys won't be as violent, right? And we won't have to sit up worrying about where you are or what you're doing.
John: You know, I really hate it when the two of you gang up on me.
Marlena: You need to get used to it.
Brady: You know, dad, I don't know if you know this, but Liam Neeson, he has a stunt double. Is the ISA providing one for you or--
John: That's an ageist comment, and I resent that.
Marlena: It means he doesn't have a comeback for you.
[Knock at door]
John: I'll get it.
Marlena: Why don't we put these in water?
Brady: Good idea. Don't-- we're not done ragging on you.
John: [Chuckles] Family. What the hell are you doing here?
Maggie: Hey, you. Done for the day?
Daniel: I'm just meeting Nicole at the club. You want to join us?
Maggie: Nope. You're probably gonna talk about the wedding, and future mother-in-laws should keep their noses out of it.
Daniel: Well, I don't know if we will. So far, everything's been pretty vague.
Maggie: Well, you tell Nicole that I'm standing by, ready, willing, and able to throw one hell of an engagement party.
Daniel: Yeah, she told me you offered. She was really touched, mom.
Maggie: It's the least I could do.
Daniel: Now, we both know that's not true. You went out of your way to make Nicole feel welcome, put the past in the past. I know that wasn't easy.
Maggie: Well, actually, it wasn't.
Nicole: Okay, well, you know, there's the obvious historical obstacles to us pooling our resources. I mean, right off the bat, well, you don't have any. And then there's: Well, I don't like you, I don't trust you, I hate your style, and you're ruthless and greedy. So there you go. And even if none of that were true, I don't need you.
Kate: Okay, I admit, there'd be some issues that we would have to work through.
Nicole: Not really, 'cause I wouldn't work with you if you were the last bitch on earth.
[Indistinct police radio chatter]
Justin: I thought you were supposed to be interrogating him. It sounded like the start of a bromance. Hmm.
Rafe: Wow. Wow, you've been in the DA's office, what, two days now, and already you're an expert on how we cops should do our jobs, huh?
Justin: Two women are dead!
Rafe: Do you think that that has slipped my mind, huh?
Justin: People need to know it's not gonna happen again.
Aiden: Ah, so you're gonna railroad my client to make people feel better? And what the hell are you doing questioning my client without me there?
Rafe: Oh, we were just having a conversation.
Aiden: Yeah, look. Unless you got some hard-core concrete factual evidence, you need to let my client go-- now!
Daniel: Mom, it means the world to me that you're trying to be nice to Nicole, but you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.
Maggie: I said it wasn't easy to put the past in the past. But Nicole and I did, and we did move on. And planning parties and welcoming Nicole into the family is--it's now a pleasure, because I see how happy you are.
Daniel: Thank you. She does make me very happy. And nothing is gonna get in the way of that.
Kate: Nicole, I know and understand how much you're enjoying this. If I was in your shoes, I would too. But I worked at Basic Black. I know how to make it better. I can help you turn this company around and make it the blueprint for the industry.
Nicole: And then you would take said company, put it in your purse, and throw me to the curb. No, thanks, pal. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
Kate: You're going to regret this.
Nicole: Mm-mm. But you will. And you know, you just made my night. [Scoffs]
Julie: May I say, not only is Aiden is a very lucky guy. He has exquisite taste in women and rings.
Hope: Daddy? You don't seem quite as enthusiastic as Julie.
Julie: Oh, he's just being a party pooper.
Hope: No, he's just being super protective of his daughter.
Doug: [Sighs] Honey, I know what a difficult step this is. Because you can't tell me that you have just forgotten Bo.
Hope: Of course I haven't forgotten Bo. And we both know this is-- it is. It's going to be a huge transition for me. We realize that.
Julie: A positive one. A positive transition. Aiden's gonna be a wonderful husband to her and a great stepdad to Ciara, and you know Ciara's already crazy about him.
Doug: Well, I know you would not marry anyone that Ciara didn't like. But, honey, I got to ask you this. Looking at you, I have to wonder if you are 100% sure about doing this.
Justin: We have witnesses who saw Chad with Serena mason the night she was murdered.
Aiden: Yeah, right. Justin, here's the thing. If you had something that you thought would hold up in court, you would have arrested him by now, but you haven't. Why? Because you have nothing. You know. I know it. Hell, even Rafe knows it.
Justin: I know he and Serena had a fight. I know there's a napkin with his blood on it found at the murder scene. I also know he has no alibis for either one of these murders.
[Cell phone rings]
Justin: And I also know that he's a material witness, which allows me to hold him for several days without charging him, which is exactly what I plan to do.
Aiden: [Sighs] Oh, he loves his job, doesn't he?
Rafe: And then some.
Aiden: I need to see my client--now.
John: Do you really think, after everything you've done to me and Brady and my family, I would walk across the street to help you?
Theresa: This is for Tate.
John: Anything and everything you have ever done has only been for Theresa. But for my grandson's sake, I will give you a modicum of civility. Just don't push your luck. If you want to buy Basic Black, get the funding yourself. I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake, given your track record.
Theresa: Well, it was worth a shot.
Marlena: Who was that?
John: Oh, just somebody looking for a handout. No big deal.
Marlena: Hmm, lovely.
Quilted northern works so well people can forget
Nicole: You should have seen the look-- [Laughs] You should have seen the look on Kate's face when I told her Brady's giving me half the money I need.
Daniel: He is?
Nicole: I didn't tell you?
Daniel: No. No, you didn't.
Nicole: I'm sorry, honey. I guess it slipped my mind.
Daniel: Or you guessed what I'd say. Turn him down.
Justin: Hey. Got your text.
Eve: I thought getting drunk might help me forget... as if that were possible. Because you see, all I just think about is my little girl, how it felt the first time that I held her and she looked me in the eye and then the time she fell out of the swing and I felt guilty because maybe I'd pushed her too hard.
Justin: And you will always have those memories.
Eve: I don't want the memories. I want her. I want her. I can't be alone. Would you--please just don't leave me alone. Please.
[Knock at door]
Aiden: I'm talking with my client.
Rafe: Oh, yeah, well, just so you know, we're not open all night.
Aiden: Yeah. So Chad tells me that you were questioning him about some flower petal.
Rafe: Yeah, funny story, that. You know, it seems that flower is only found in his backyard.
Chad: And I already told you--
Aiden: Okay, okay, okay. Don't say anything. Look, it's not his backyard.
Aiden: No, it's Stefano DiMera's backyard, okay, and you can't place my client there. Why? Because he had moved out. Now, there are a whole lot of other folks who've been in and out of that garden. Some of them even have criminal records.
Rafe: Wow. You know, that's a great tip.
Aiden: Would you like a second one?
Aiden: Here it is. Given that Serena mason was in business-- illegal business, mind you-- with Xander cook, given that they dealt in blood diamonds, I wouldn't have a very hard time arguing reasonable doubt. See, Serena mason lived in a pretty violent world.
Rafe: Sure did come to a violent end, didn't it? Now, you make some pretty good points. Unfortunately none of those points explain why that flower was found next to Paige Larson's body. And Paige Larson, well, she lived in a peaceful world, didn't she? Till that night, anyway. You know, here's the thing. We keep coming back to the fact that I can link your client to both murders. Now, he hasn't come up with one alibi, despite the fact that he actually needs two. So how are you gonna talk his way out of that one?
Hope: Daddy, this wasn't a sudden decision or an impulse. There was realizing that Bo probably will never come home. And I just-- I just want to be happy. I want a future with Aiden.
Doug: Whatever makes my baby happy.
Hope: Thank you, daddy.
Julie: So now can we move on to the fun stuff? Would it be inappropriate to start making wedding preparations?
Hope: Why not? I want to start living the rest of my life today.
Julie: Oh, great, because I want to plan! Sweetheart, what do you say that we go...
Doug: Here we go!
Julie: Directly over to St. Luke's and see if we can book the church?
Doug: Do we have to make plans right now?
Julie: Yes, of course we have to make plans...
Bo: [Screaming] [Groaning]
If you don't start talking, do you know what's gonna happen? I'm just gonna come back, and I'm gonna do this all over again.
Bo: No, no, no.
Have it your way.
Bo: No! [Groaning] [Panting]
Brady: Dad, you want Marlena to accept this decision about the ISA without even a hint of compromise. I mean, what would be so bad about taking a desk job?
John: You know, maybe doc and I can talk about it later in private.
Brady: I'm sorry. You think none of this is my business? 'Cause I'll tell you what. I'm the one that's here when you're God knows where. I'm the one that's dealing with the day-to-day strain, watching Marlena cope with the fear and jumping every time the phone rings, dad.
John: Hey, come on. Kid, come on. Come on. This is supposed to be a celebration.
Marlena: You know what? It's hard to celebrate when you're determined to go back into harm's way. And it's very hard for me to celebrate committing to the man I love, living in fear that he may not come back one day. owe you an explanation. He doesn't have to give you an alibi. The burden of proof, that lies with the DA's office. Justin can't meet that burden, and that's why he's threatening Chad with this material witness crap.
Rafe: Oh, it may be crap. But it's true.
Aiden: You know, I know how miserable you were when you couldn't be a cop. And here you are back on the force, what, a week? Don't let Justin Kiriakis' ambition convince you to arrest the wrong man. Could end up costing you, big-time. I'll get you out of here as soon as possible. Don't say a word.
Eve: [Sighs] Isn't that your cue, tell me that I've had enough?
Justin: That's the last thing I would ever tell you. You know, I don't think I've ever felt more useless in my life. We both know there's nothing I can do or say. All I can do is sit here.
Eve: So I'm not alone. Well, I guess I can't put this off forever. I got to go home.
Justin: Okay, then there is one thing I can do. You shouldn't drive, so I'll take you.
Eve: You don't mind?
Justin: Of course not.
Eve: I'm scared. I'm scared. I'm scared of going into that apartment, knowing--knowing that...
Justin: I know. I know. I know. I know. Let's go. You can do it. Let's go.
Nicole: Brady's offering me money. Why in god's name would I turn it down?
Daniel: There are just too many strings attached. He'll try to micromanage you. He may try to run the business, second-guess all your decisions.
Nicole: Okay, honey, first, Brady is not like that, and, second, he'll be too busy running titan, and not to mention he has to handle Theresa, who's a full-time job all by herself.
Daniel: I just think it's a really bad idea.
Nicole: You thought it was a great idea until Brady's name came up. Are you jealous?
Marlena: Theresa wants to run Basic Black? Does she have any idea what that entails?
Brady: She admits that she has a lot to learn, but...
John: But what?
Brady: She showed me some of her designs, dad, and... she actually does have talent.
John: Come on, son. Don't tell me you're being taken in by her again.
Brady: No, no. No, no, no. No, if she got her hands on the company, it would be a disaster. And she would be so driven that she would see less of Tate.
Marlena: I don't think either one of you has anything to worry about here. Now, Theresa may want to be a fashion designer with her own company, but I don't think she has a chance of pulling that off.
Kate: Here. Next best thing to a martini when you got the blues.
Theresa: I was always told not to take candy from strangers.
Kate: And when have you ever done what you're told?
Theresa: I know who you are, but I don't know why you're talking to me.
Kate: Well, we share so many people. We share so many enemies.
Theresa: Can I ask you something?
Theresa: When you were first starting out in the business, did you have, like, rich parents or a mentor or something?
Kate: [Chuckles] Mine was not a conventional career path.
Theresa: Did anyone ever try to stand in your way?
Kate: [Laughs] They did more than try to stand in my way. It was close to armed warfare.
Theresa: Yeah, but you made it. You made it big-time. So then how do you make it if everyone's so determined to make sure that you don't?
Hope: Actually, I wasn't working. I asked dad and Julie to come over.
Hope: I showed them the ring, and I told them we were getting married.
Aiden: You did?
Aiden: "And how did that go?" He asks with great trepidation.
Hope: It went fine.
Aiden: Did it?
Hope: No, really, it did. They could see how happy I am, and that's all they really care about anyway. Well, actually, that's not entirely true, is it? Julie also cares passionately about wedding plans.
Aiden: Oh, so it's a simple ceremony in a cathedral with 87 bridesmaids? Maybe that's...
Hope: But no, wait. Wait. She had an idea that I thought was pretty wonderful. And I hope you agree.
Aiden: Well, tell me. What is her idea?
Hope: Well, she thought that we should get married during Salem's bicentennial celebration.
Aiden: Well, you tell Julie I think that is truly inspired.
Hope: Me too.
Hope: Yeah. We'll be celebrating the past...
Hope: While starting our future together.
Aiden: That's right. I think this calls for some champagne, yeah?
Aiden: Oh, and just one more of these.
Kate: So the first thing you need to do when the whole world is against you is stop whining.
Theresa: Wow, I can see why everybody hates you so much.
Kate: And why they can't stop me. So what do you have that means that people can't stop you?
Theresa: Oh, well, I want to buy Basic Black, but I don't have any money, and no one wants to help me--
Kate: Okay, you're not listening to me. That's what you don't have. I want to know what you do have. What's in your arsenal, Theresa?
Theresa: Um... well, I have these.
Kate: They're good.
Theresa: Thank you.
Kate: Don't say, "thank you." Say, "yeah, they're good." You know they're good, right?
Theresa: Yeah, they're good.
Kate: Excuse me?
Theresa: They're damn good.
Kate: That's right. You know, I think we might be able to help each other.
Daniel: I am not jealous. It's just your instinct to run to Brady and money. It's an old pattern. It's a quick fix.
Nicole: Good to know what you think about it.
Daniel: Okay, give me your paw. Bring it here. Hey, I don't mean to take the wind out of your sails. But it is really important that we be honest from the beginning.
Nicole: Then let me be honest.
Nicole: You did not take the wind out of my sails. And I'm gonna do what I said I was gonna do, and I'm gonna prove that you're wrong about me.
John: That was-- that was so good. That was--that was great. Thanks, doc. That was--that was amazing.
Marlena: Mm-hmm. You've said that-- many, many times. You complimented the lemon tart. One thing you haven't talked about is the ISA.
John: What's there to say?
Brady: Oh, I don't know. Why you made the decision, why you won't budge on it, why you won't listen to a word that Marlena has to say.
John: You know, it's like I said before. Perhaps this is a private discussion between me and Marlena.
Marlena: Are we going to get to discuss it, or are you gonna shut down as usual?
John: Look, I have my reasons for doing this, and they're personal.
Marlena: So personal, you can't discuss them with me?
John: I'm using the ISA resources to find out who the hell I really am.
Eve: I just... keep thinking, when I open that door, my daughter's gonna be sitting right there on that sofa, asking me how my day went. How my day went. [Sobbing] How my day went.
Justin: Eve, Eve. Come here. Look at me. Eve.
[Cell door slams]
All right, have it your way, and I'll be back, and we'll do this all over again... if you're still alive.
