Nicole: Oh, Maggie, hi.
Maggie: Hi. I'm sorry to drop by like this.
Nicole: Well, that's okay. Oh, but parker just went to sleep, and Daniel went to talk to victor.
Maggie: Oh. Really? I wanted to talk to him.
Nicole: About Xander, right?
Maggie: About Xander. Then you already know that victor has hired him and Xander's staying in Salem.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. And so does Daniel, and he's not happy about it.
Daniel: What a surprise how, out of the blue, victor Kiriakis has decided he knows what's best for everybody and he's decided to play god.
Victor: Oh, damn it, Daniel. Grow up. I know Xander is a threat. I know he's dangerous. I'm trying to contain him, control him--
Daniel: Oh, no, there is more to it than that, and I know it. I know you're not being honest. The two of you have some kind of connection.
Victor: Alexandros is dirt! I'm going to see to it that he pays for what he did.
Hope: Tell me she's gonna be okay.
Eric: Are you sure you're all right?
Kayla: I'm fine.
Eric: Because you look exhausted.
Kayla: No, I'm fine. And your grandmother is going to be fine too.
Eric: Thanks to you.
Kayla: No, really, thanks to Serena. You know, thank god that she was there and she knew exactly what to do. I mean, not only did she save your grandmother's life. Your grandma has a really great chance of a full recovery because of her. Thank you.
Serena: I should get going.
Eric: Serena, wait.
Abigail: [Sighs] Oh.
JJ: Abigail. My god, what--
Abigail: [Chuckles nervously]
JJ: What is it? What's wrong?
JJ: I was approached by an agent from the DEA.
Jennifer: As a suspect?
JJ: No. They want me to work for them.
Clyde: So she said yes? That's wonderful, Ben.
Clyde: Why are you so moody?
Ben: Because she's pregnant.
Clyde: She's pregnant? My gosh. You son of a gun. That's great! That's really great!
Ben: Yeah, really? Is it still great if that baby is actually Chad DiMera's?
Daniel: What happened? What's wrong?
Victor: It's Caroline.
Kayla: I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. Shh, shh, shh. Has she woken up yet?
Caroline: Yes, "she" did.
Kayla: Hi. How you feeling?
Caroline: Great. Never better.
Kayla: [Laughs] I want to ask you a couple questions, okay?
Caroline: Do I have a choice?
Kayla: Do you know where you are?
Caroline: The hospital.
Kayla: Do you know who I am?
Caroline: You're my daughter. You're the one who keeps asking me inane questions when I'm trying to sleep.
Kayla: Well, you're cranky as ever.
Kayla: Okay. Can you squeeze my hands?
Caroline: Thank you. Thank you.
Kayla: I love you. Good job. Well, she has full mobility.
Caroline: I could have told you that.
Kayla: You know what? You are a pain in the butt.
Caroline: Language. Language.
Kayla: I love you.
Caroline: Love you too.
Kayla: All right, shoo, shoo, everybody. Come on. She needs to get some rest, okay?
Roman: Okay, you know what? I'll call-- I'll call will and Sami.
Roman: You know, you are a pain in the butt.
Roman: I love you.
Caroline: Make sure that he's okay.
Hope: You scared the hell out of us. Don't do it again, okay? I love you.
Caroline: I love you too.
Serena: I wanted your grandmother to do me a favor. I wanted her to... give you this.
JJ: Did something bad happen? Is mom all right? Grandma and grandpa?
Abigail: Yeah, no, everyone's fine. It's just-- it's nothing bad.
JJ: No? You're crying. You and Ben. You're engaged? [Laughs]
Clyde: Ben... son, don't do this to yourself. Abigail is not having Chad DiMera's baby.
Ben: And how the hell do you know that?
Nicole: But what's hard to live with is the fact that that pig is basically getting away with attempted murder.
Maggie: Well, so far, no one's giving up. I mean, victor wants him answering to him until the police can build a case.
Nicole: I'm also scared that if Xander's around, free, that Daniel's gonna take matters into his own hands.
Maggie: Well, then it's good, then, that he's talking to victor. [Sighs] Listen, there is something else I wanted to talk to you about.
Maggie: Uh, yeah. I wanted to talk about dates and maybe ideas about the engagement party.
Nicole: Maggie, really, you don't have to do this.
Maggie: Well, actually, I think I do.
Abigail: [Sighs] [Clears throat]
JJ: Okay, I have a question. What's with the tears? This is a good thing, right?
Abigail: Yes. Of course it is. It is. It's just-- I mean, it's just a little overwhelming. Really kind of overwhelming.
Jennifer: I thought I heard you two out here. What is it? What's wrong?
JJ: This isn't about me, for once.
Jennifer: Abigail? What?
JJ: I'll leave you two alone.
Jennifer: Honey, what is it? What is wrong?
Abigail: Let's just-- let's go inside. I have to tell you something.
JJ: You want me to take off?
Abigail: No. Besides, you already know.
Jennifer: Know what?
Abigail: Um... Ben and I are engaged.
Abigail: What? You didn't see that coming, did you?
Jennifer: No, no, I didn't.
Jennifer: Oh! Abigail, yes! Congratulations!
Clyde: Ben, don't fly off the handle with me.
Ben: I'm not flying off the handle. I'm just asking you, how the hell do you know who the father is? Are you god? Do you just know everything?
Clyde: No, I don't know everything, but I know Abigail. She's not the kind of girl who would marry a guy and try to pass off some other man's baby as yours.
Ben: 'Cause she's so honest and pure, right? She slept with him eight weeks ago. Guess what. She's eight weeks pregnant. So maybe this isn't about love. Maybe this is about her using me to cover up what she did. She doesn't want a husband. She wants a solution to a big fat problem.
Aiden: You know, you don't seem like an in-law. You seem like another kid in the family.
Hope: When I had to tell Caroline I was divorcing Bo, I was scared. Really, I really was. I wouldn't have been able to take it if it changed how she felt about me. I lean on her, Aiden. I really do. I mean, come to think of it, I... I actually lean on all of them in this way that I can't even really explain. You know, I think maybe it was a little easier for Ciara to accept Bo wasn't here because she does have all of them.
Aiden: And so do you.
Hope: And so do I.
Hope: You never really know how long you have with someone you care about. And you've got to make the most of every single moment. Never take anything for granted, not ever.
Aiden: I couldn't agree more. Come here.
Serena: To say that I've screwed up everything since I came to town would be putting it mildly. I don't think anyone's gonna be brokenhearted if I leave.
Eric: Do you want to go?
Serena: Don't you think that's what's best?
Eric: No, that's not what I asked. I asked, do you want to go or not?
Caroline: I had a feeling that you might drop by.
Victor: You know, if you were trying to get my attention, it worked.
Kayla: What I keep coming back to is, thank god Serena was there.
Kayla: For all intents and purposes, she saved my mother's life.
Serena: The research project, yeah, it might be interesting. It could be great for my career, but I think maybe it's just better if I leave.
Eric: Serena, you keep dodging my question.
Serena: Then I guess I don't understand what you're asking, Eric. This morning, Daniel made me see there is nothing left for me here anymore.
Eric: Did he help you see that, or are you just trying to get out of town?
Serena: Daniel was very nice, considering everything I've done.
Eric: If Daniel was nice to you, other people will get there. You have to give it time. People will settle down. It doesn't mean you have to leave.
Serena: Eric, I'm not leaving because I care what other people think or that Xander might give me grief or that I know that I'm gonna run into people who will judge me, like Brady and Nicole.
Eric: Then why?
Serena: Because of-- because of you. I can't stand seeing you hate me.
Eric: Serena, I don't--
Serena: I know-- I know that right now, you're grateful that I was there with your grandmother and I did what anyone else in the world would have done.
Eric: Yeah, well, that's not what Kayla said.
Serena: But given everything that's happened, does that really change the way you feel about me?
Nicole: Maggie, uh-- how should I put this? I would be grateful, for Daniel's sake, if you wouldn't mind pretending to tolerate me. I mean, after everything I've done, I think asking you to be nice to me would be pushing it.
Maggie: [Clears throat] Nicole, I want you to know that I'm not gonna pretend to tolerate you. The fact is, I love my son, and I want him to be happy. And I used to think that I knew what that meant.
Nicole: I know how much you love her and you wanted them to be together.
Maggie: I did.
Nicole: And you hate what I did to her, to them. You hate that I hurt Daniel.
Nicole: Me too. So... so the party and you being nice, this is just your way of getting past all that, right? Your way of accepting that Daniel and I are together?
Maggie: You know, for being a journalist and a very smart woman, sometimes you just get your facts so wrong.
Jennifer: I'm sorry if I seemed taken aback. It just--it surprised me.
JJ: Me too.
Jennifer: But I shouldn't be surprised, because the two of you have been together for over a year, so... so I have a wedding I need to start planning. How much time do I have?
Abigail: Uh, we-- um... well, Ben and I haven't-- we haven't set a date or anything yet.
Jennifer: Okay. Hey, listen, if-- I don't know what JJ's trying to say or what I'm sensing, but you seem a little hesitant.
Abigail: No. No.
Jennifer: Maybe you're just surprised, too, or overwhelmed. Honey, if you think this is happening too quickly and you don't want to rush into a wedding, that's okay.
Abigail: That's not what-- that's not it.
Jennifer: Honey, then what is it?
Clyde: Ben, if Abigail wasn't sure that you were the father, she wouldn't be marrying you.
Ben: Why the hell not? Like I said, I'm like an answer to a prayer right now. Dad, she's a Horton. Things have to-- they have to look right, respectable. She can't go back to DiMera. He treated her like dirt. He told her he only slept with her because he wanted to get back at her for sleeping with his brother.
Clyde: Well, that girl sure does get around when it comes to DiMera men, doesn't she? At least that other brother's dead, I think.
Ben: Dad, this isn't funny.
Clyde: Well, it's not a tragedy either, Ben. From where I sit, she's all yours. She loves you and wants to marry you. Do you doubt that?
Clyde: Then what the hell else matters?
Ben: Think about it, dad. Do you really think Chad DiMera is gonna sit still and do nothing when he finds out that Abigail might be having his baby?
Jennifer: Honey, what is it? What's wrong?
Abigail: No, there's nothing--there's nothing wrong.
Jennifer: If you're having second thoughts, it's okay.
Abigail: No, I--
Jennifer: You can talk to me. I'll understand.
Abigail: No, mom, I'm not-- no, I'm not-- [Sighs] I'm not having second thoughts, okay? I... I love Ben. It's just, um... it's just that... I'm... I'm pregnant.
Serena: See, Eric? I'm right. You can't even look at me. You still hate me and all the things that I've done.
Eric: And one of the things you've done... you saved my grandmother's life.
Serena: But that doesn't change the past.
Eric: And on top of everything else, you cannot ruin your career because of how you think I feel about you.
Serena: Are you asking me to stay?
Eric: I need to see my grandmother.
Jennifer: Yeah, I can see why you would be overwhelmed. Are you happy about the baby?
Abigail: Yes, Mom, of course I'm happy about the baby.
Jennifer: Of course--it-- um, you're really young, honey.
Abigail: Mom, I'm happy about this, okay?
Abigail: I am.
Jennifer: How long have you known?
Abigail: For a little while.
Jennifer: I see. So you and Ben, you thought it would be best-- you decided this--
Abigail: No, mom.
Jennifer: Would be best if the two of you got--
Abigail: Mm-mm, that's not it. Ben didn't know I was pregnant when he asked me to marry him, okay? So we're good. That's not what this is about. I'm not getting married because I'm pregnant, okay? I'm getting married because Ben and I are in love. That's why I'm getting married.
Clyde: Think about it, Ben. Why would Abigail tell you the kid is yours if she wasn't sure about it?
Hope: Thank you so much for being there tonight. Nice not feel alone anymore.
Clyde: Well, look at you lovebirds. Can't keep your hands off each other.
Maggie: Did Daniel ever tell you about the early days when I couldn't stand him? I mean, I thought he was a dog, and I wasn't exactly wrong. But he changed, and I actually quite liked him by the time I found out I was his mother. Nicole, I believe in my soul that a person can change.
Nicole: But if I can't forget what I put Jennifer through, how can you?
Maggie: I can understand. You had been through unbearable pain, and you lost your way. And I know what that's like.
Nicole: So... [Sobs] So what are you saying? I mean, are you saying you want to be friends?
Maggie: No. I want us to be family.
Maggie: Family. [Laughs] Oh.
[Cell phone ringing]
Maggie: Oh! My butt. My butt's ringing here. Hold on here. Okay. It's from Daniel. Oh! Oh.
Victor: That woman is impossible. I've got to go.
Daniel: Why, so no one can see you crying?
Victor: You know, sometimes I think you deserve to be stuck with a-- an expletive deleted like Nicole.
Eric: Listen, Kayla, can I see her now?
Kayla: Let me just check her over again, okay? And then don't stay long. I just--I just convinced will not to come down here. I mean, I know everybody loves her, but we don't want to tire her out.
Eric: I understand.
Victor: Well, speak of the devil. You're Serena mason, aren't you?
Serena: That's right.
Victor: Well, I have something I need to say to you.
Victor: I've heard a lot about you, most of it bad.
Serena: I could say the same about you.
Victor: From what I hear...
Daniel: Okay, victor, not now.
Victor: You were largely responsible for Caroline being okay. She's very dear to me, so I'm grateful to you, and I always will be.
Maggie: Daniel, I got your text.
Victor: I just spoke to Caroline. She's going to be fine.
Daniel: Wow, I really thought he was gonna tell you off.
Serena: Me too.
Daniel: It would have been interesting. He's really good at it.
Caroline: Well, where the hell have you been?
Daniel: You know, victor's not the only one who's grateful for what you did.
Serena: I just did what anyone else would do.
Daniel: Not necessarily. You kept your head. Not everybody does that.
Serena: Daniel, I want you to know that I... I thought about what you said this morning, and when I went to see Caroline, I was on my way out of town.
Daniel: Well, have you changed your mind?
Serena: I still might go. But I want to wait till tomorrow to make that decision. I do still want to talk to you.
Daniel: Okay, well, I need to get going now, but you-- you know where to find me, right?
Daniel: Okay, will you excuse me?
Daniel: Good news about Caroline, isn't it?
Maggie: It's wonderful.
Daniel: Yeah, thank god. I'm headed home. I promised parker I'd say good night. And we can finish our conversation later.
Maggie: When Daniel said "conversation," he meant "fight," didn't he?
Victor: Sometimes it's hard to deal with someone that's that obstinate. I mean, he refuses to see the other side of the question.
Maggie: I think I know what it's like to deal with someone like that.
Serena: I-I was just leaving.
Eric: No. My grandmother would like to see you.
Hope: Mr. Weston. Ben.
Hope: Nice to see you. Oh, if you guys need to talk to Aiden, I'll excuse myself.
Clyde: No, there's no need for you to do that, ma'am. Evidently Mr. Jennings hasn't told you the news.
Hope: What news?
Clyde: Well, Aiden decided it would be in everyone's best interest if he no longer represented me and Ben.
Jennifer: I-I know that you love Ben. And I know he loves you. I've spent some time with him with hope, and... his face just lights up whenever anyone would say your name.
Abigail: Thank you, Mom, for not being upset that I didn't tell you sooner.
Jennifer: Well, I think that you needed to process this, really, before you told anyone.
Abigail: I did. Yeah.
Jennifer: And I want you to understand that... I need you to live your own life in your own way. And I don't want to interfere with that. I just want you to know I want to help you.
Abigail: [Inhales deeply] Thank you.
Jennifer: Yes. Even though you are independent and all grown up, you are always gonna be my little girl.
Abigail: Love you, mom.
Jennifer: I love you so much. Okay, so this is me not interfering. When was the last time you ate something?
Abigail: Um... I had a salad for lunch.
Jennifer: A salad, that is not enough. Okay, so... you did this when you were a little girl. You would always get weepy when you were hungry...
Jennifer: So I'm gonna fix that.
Abigail: Oh! What, JJ?
JJ: Can I ask you something?
JJ: Is this really what you want? Mom's in the kitchen. We're alone. Abigail, you were crying on the porch. And you went weeks without telling me or mom--
Abigail: Well, I was crying on the porch because I was-- I was happy... or hungry... or maybe, you know, because I'm-- I'm pregnant, JJ, and I've been very emotional.
JJ: All right, I'll back off.
Abigail: No, that's not what I said.
JJ: It's what you meant, and it's okay. But you need to know that I'm your brother and you can tell me anything. And if you're getting married because you think that you have to or that--
Abigail: No, that's not-- that is not backing off, JJ. I know that I can tell you anything. And I know that you'll always be on my side.
JJ: Okay, well, then tell me this. Would you have said yes to Ben if you weren't pregnant?
Abigail: Yes. Of course I would, yeah.
JJ: Okay. Well, so how did Ben react when you told him about the baby?
Aiden: I don't think this is the time or place to get into all that.
Clyde: Oh, I agree. I just wanted you to know there's no hard feelings. And I didn't mean to speak out of turn just now. I just--I just thought you two looked so happy together.
Hope: How about you, Ben? No hard feelings?
Ben: No, no, it's fine.
Clyde: Yeah, Mr. Jennings really helped Ben out with that DiMera mess, and we won't forget that. But that's the past, and now we got a whole lot of other things to keep us busy and happy, don't we, Ben?
Hope: Other things?
Clyde: Don't worry. You'll all find out soon enough. You two have a good evening. Ready, Ben?
Hope: Bye, Ben.
Hope: Are there really no hard feelings?
Aiden: I'm sure everything is just fine.
Hope: Right. I can't believe you didn't tell me that you dropped Weston as a client.
Nicole: So after Maggie left, I looked in on parker, and I thought about him growing up in this big family where everyone got along and loved each other, and... I really want that for him.
Daniel: Wow, Maggie really got to you. She has a weird way of doing that.
Nicole: Well, I... guess I was ready to be gotten to. And since I have you, it's no longer me against the world. And I just don't want to waste any more energy on being mad or raking up the past.
Daniel: Well, I'm still gonna keep an eye on Xander... and on victor.
Nicole: But we need to try to see things from his point of view. Victor is trying to take care of his family, of us.
Daniel: Right. Right. Well, now that I don't have to lock horns with victor anymore, guess I can concentrate on what's really important.
Nicole: And what's that?
Daniel: You. You.
Maggie: You hardly said a word the whole way home. Are you all right?
Victor: Just promise me that you're gonna stick around for a very long time.
Maggie: I was just about to ask you the same thing. I love you.
Caroline: Serena, I want to thank you for everything you did.
Serena: I just did what anybody else would have done.
Caroline: Well, I do remember that before it happened... I wasn't very nice to you.
Serena: Well, why would you be? I've done some terrible things to people you love.
Caroline: You asked me for a favor. What is it?
Serena: It's nothing, nothing at all.
Caroline: Well, I owe you one.
Serena: [Laughs] Okay. Tell you what. You just get yourself better, and we'll call it square. Glad that you're all right. I should be going.
Eric: Serena, wait.
Nicole: So Caroline's gonna be all right?
Daniel: Kayla predicted a full recovery.
Nicole: Oh, that's great.
Daniel: Yeah. There was someone with her when she had her stroke. Those first hours are critical, and this woman... knew exactly what she was doing.
Nicole: "This woman"?
Daniel: Yeah, I know. "Oh." Look, I'm gonna go check in on parker.
Daniel: All right?
Daniel: Thank you for the wine. Hey.
Daniel: I am really glad you and Maggie had a talk. This night is ending a hell of a lot better than it started out.
[Both laugh] Ah.
Nicole: [Sighs] So Serena mason is the heroine in this piece, huh? [Scoffs] And if I know her, she'll play it for all it's worth.
Eric: I wanted to talk to you tomorrow before you make a decision about leaving.
Serena: Okay. Sure.
Eric: I told Daniel I don't think it was a coincidence that you were there for my grandmother when she needed you.
Serena: You think that it was god acting in a mysterious way?
Eric: I just think he's telling me to look at things a little different.
Serena: What things?
Eric: We'll talk about it tomorrow. Good night.
Abigail: What was Ben's reaction? Um... stun--disbelief, which makes sense, because I told him about the baby almost immediately after I told him that I would marry him. So then he was excited--
Jennifer: Well, he should be excited. It's exciting news. Here you go. Okay, and I want you to know that JJ and I, we are just gonna spoil this baby rotten. And you and Ben, you're gonna be wonderful parents, really. And we're gonna do everything we can to help.
Abigail: I'm sorry.
Jennifer: Oh, honey.
Abigail: No, no, it's not-- really, it's not hormones. It's just that-- it's not. It's not hormones. I just--
Jennifer: Come over here, both of you.
Abigail: Seriously, you guys, I just love you so much.
Jennifer: And we love you. Mwah. I love my kids.
Clyde: You know, I do have a feeling it's gonna be a boy. Clyde Weston ii-- got a nice ring to it.
Ben: Oh, god.
Clyde: Hey, I'm kidding, all right? Where's your sense of humor? You're gonna be a daddy. You should go out and get drunk, you know, buy the whole bar drinks. Just at least smile. You're a real man now.
Aiden: Although I dropped Clyde and Ben as clients, attorney-client privilege still applies for everything I worked on while I was their lawyer.
Hope: I know. I know. And it also applies to the reason why you decided not to represent them any longer. I understand.
Aiden: That's right, so maybe we should just drop it, yeah?
