Jennifer: JJ, Abigail, I made some of gram's doughnuts. Come get them while they're warm.
Eve: It's not gonna happen, jenny, because you're never gonna see your kids again.
Jennifer: [Gasps] [Breathing heavily]
Eve: Well, that's what you get for making me lose my daughter, bitch.
Eve: [Thinking] God, if it were just that easy. [Chuckles]
Jennifer: Aunt Maggie, hi. No, absolutely not. I'll be right there.
Kyle: Hey, you.
Kyle: I was just about to text you. I thought maybe we could hang.
Paige: Um... actually, Kyle, I've been thinking. This you and me thing, it just isn't a good idea.
Watts: A guy like Kyle southern is totally paranoid with good reason. Don't ask questions, just observe.
JJ: Yeah, got it. Don't be nosy.
Roman: Okay, I put a number in here. That's where you text if you feel like you're in danger.
JJ: Uncle Steve?
Watts: A new member of your family, that way southern won't suspect.
Roman: What's the code if you need immediate extraction?
JJ: Happy birthday.
Watts: Great. Well, this is a good first session. We'll let it sink in, and we'll pick it up again tomorrow. Any questions?
JJ: Once I get something on this dirtbag, how soon before he's arrested?
Anne: Oh, there she is. Guess what. I brought muffins from Martha's to celebrate you and little Tate all snug and cozy in the big Kiriakis mansion.
Serena: Well, this is a surprise. Come on in. I've--I've been thinking a lot about what we talked about last night. Finding out that your fiancée slept with another man, that's gotta be a real punch to the gut. I'm guessing you had a few words with Nicole when she got home.
Daniel: I spoke with her.
Serena: How'd that go?
Daniel: Very well, actually.
Nicole: [Groans] Way, way too much work for a picnic. I should have just stuck with PB and Js. Parker would have loved that.
[Knock on door]
Nicole: Chloe! Oh, my God. What are you doing here?
Brady: You seem-- you seem better. You almost seem calm.
Eric: I am. I made peace with my feelings about Nicole.
Brady: Really? That's great, 'cause last time we talked-- so Nicole marrying Daniel doesn't bother you at all?
Eric: No. And just as long as certain information stays just between us, everything else will be fine.
Serena: Very well, meaning Nicole didn't do her usual and lie to your face?
Daniel: I asked for the whole story and she gave it.
Serena: But you told her that you knew everything, so she had to come clean.
Daniel: No, no. I simply asked and she told me everything.
Serena: That's a first. Still, it must have been hard to hear. Believe me, I got no pleasure out of playing that recording for you, but you deserved to know the truth, and I'm sorry I hurt you.
Daniel: I actually came to thank you.
Serena: Because you're finally getting rid of her?
Daniel: No. Because Nicole and I are closer than ever.
Nicole: Wow! [Laughs] This is such a surprise, and you look great, as usual. But Daniel didn't tell me you were coming.
Chloe: He doesn't know.
Nicole: Oh! Well, seeing his mommy today is certainly gonna knock Parker's little socks off. But he's with Joanna right now. Well, come in. It's no problem because I can text her, and she can bring him right back.
Chloe: No, it's okay. I'll just see him later. Is--is Daniel here?
Nicole: No, he's-- he's running errands.
Chloe: Good, because you and I need to have a good long talk.
Anne: What's the matter? You don't like my muffin?
Theresa: She blew it, Anne. She blew the whole damn thing.
Anne: What, Megan?
Theresa: Yes, your stupid friend, Megan!
Anne: Hey, she just lives downstairs.
Theresa: You know what, I wanted a nanny who could do the job, who could fix things for me and Brady, and instead you sent me this bored, lazy loser.
Anne: News for you, you're the one who green lit her, okay, honey bunch? I was just doing my best to help out.
Theresa: Well, your best got me kicked out of the mansion, okay? Brady wants me to move out. He thinks I'm apartment hunting right now. Oh, my God, Anne, how am I supposed to get close to Brady again if I don't even live in the same building?
Anne: Yeah, maybe you and I should think about that now, huh? Brady broke up with you. You keep coming up with scheme after scheme and he's still not into you, so maybe you and I need a big, fat reality check.
Theresa: Don't you dare tell me to give up! Ow! Aah! Oh, for heaven's sakes.
Anne: What?! Hey, watch out, okay? Somebody could get hurt.
Theresa: Yeah, well, I don't give a-- you're right. Somebody could get hurt. Oh, my God, Anne, you are so amazing sometimes. You just-- you're amazing.
Maggie: The notice came yesterday.
Jennifer: And there's no way to extend the lease?
Maggie: No. The developer is putting up a strip mall, and the Horton center is right in the way.
Jennifer: Okay, and the fact that this has been a shelter for abused teens over 20 years doesn't mean anything?
Maggie: Not to this developer. Victor offered to find a new center, and the only one he could locate was way out on baker street.
Jennifer: Oh, no, it's gotta be in town.
Maggie: I know. I know.
Jennifer: I mean, kids aren't gonna use it unless it's someplace central.
Jennifer: Aunt Maggie, we can't let this happen. Gram built that building. She furnished it. She--she decorated it herself. What's the name of that developer?
Maggie: Satterfield corporation.
Jennifer: What?! Riley Satterfield?
Maggie: I know, I know you come up against him in the past.
Jennifer: Yes, you bet I did. I got his Mayfield project shut down back when I was a reporter.
Maggie: I know, but maybe this time you should--
Jennifer: No, no, no, wait a minute. If I did it once, I can do it again. So I'm gonna raise enough money to buy him out, and then I'm gonna start digging everything up that I can on that piece of slime.
Kyle: I thought we had a good time last night.
Paige: We did, and... I was really impressed with how you talked my mom into leaving.
Paige: But still, I just...
JJ: Don't be around someone who isn't good enough for you.
Paige: Been there, done that already. There's nowhere to go but up now.
Kyle: Hey, what's going on, Paige?
Paige: Kyle, what I'm doing with you is really messed up.
Watts: JJ, I know you're on edge. This situation is dangerous. You want it over and done with, but this is a long-term project.
Roman: Step by step, JJ. First step is find out who Kyle's boss is.
Watts: That's who we really want.
JJ: But you're gonna stick it to southern, too, right? Make sure he spends a couple of decades in a hole?
Roman: You know what, JJ? Let me ask you a question here. You seem really, really wound up about seeing Kyle Southern do time. Why is that?
Kyle: Paige. Paige, we're not doing anything. Just seeing if maybe we could be friends, I mean, how is that messed up?
Paige: It's kind of hard to explain.
Kyle: That's okay. You don't have to. I know why you're acting like this. It's what I do, right, for a living?
Paige: Well, you have never actually told me what that is.
Kyle: Right, but you have a good idea and you don't like it.
Paige: How could I? I mean, I try not to judge, but some things, it-- it just probably is a good idea if we don't do this anymore, okay? I'll see you around.
Kyle: Paige, wait. Please.
JJ: We all know what kind of bastard we are dealing with here. I think he should get what he deserves.
Watts: He's a means to an end, JJ.
JJ: Like hell. He's dangerous. The longer he is walking around free, the more people get hurt.
Roman: Valid point, JJ, but eyes on the prize, remember?
Watts: We need Kyle's supplier.
Roman: And if you don't want to work like that, then maybe we pull you out of this thing now.
Watts: Well, no, come on. Let's just not yank the plug over a misunderstanding. Here's how it goes, JJ. If we get Kyle to roll on his boss, it's not like he goes free or ever gets a chance to retaliate against you. He goes into witness protection. He disappears.
JJ: Good then. Let's do this.
Roman: You sure? You need more time?
JJ: No. If southern goes down permanently, I'm in.
Watts: Good man. Listen, I gotta get to another appointment. I'll talk to you later, gentlemen.
JJ: Wait, Kyle said he was gonna call me today. What if he doesn't? What should I do?
JJ: So I'm just gonna sit around?
Anne: Wow, I got to admit, cupcake, you're kinda like a genius sometimes. I mean, what a plan. Where do--where do you come up with these things?
Theresa: What can I say? It's a gift, Anne. So you think it'll work?
Anne: I don't see why not.
Theresa: Great. Can you help me?
Anne: Yeah, hang on. I think I may know somebody perfect.
Theresa: [Sighs] God, please, please make this work.
Eve: Oh, Theresa, I need your help and I need it now.
Theresa: [Mouths words] Perfect timing.
Brady: So your prayers were answered when...
Eric: When God helped me realize that if I loved Nicole then I'd want her to be happy. And that meant her being with Daniel and Parker.
Brady: And you're perfectly okay with that?
Eric: Well, selfishly, of course I'd want her to be with me. But it's about her being happy.
Brady: I gotta tell ya. I'm impressed. So you've made your peace with Nicole. What about Serena?
Serena: I think I missed a step. You and Nicole are closer than ever?
Daniel: And that's why I came to thank you. And you don't have all the facts about what happened.
Serena: You know what? I think I got enough.
Daniel: Okay, here's the story. I know what happened between Eric and Nicole. I--you know, I understand it and why they had to keep it a secret from me.
Serena: I guess I should start calling you St. Daniel.
Daniel: Look, I have my reasons for forgiving that I'm not going to share with you. But I want you to know that Nicole and I are together. Better, stronger than ever.
Serena: Okay, fine, I got it. You and Nicole, doing great. Thanks for coming.
Daniel: That's not the only thing I came to tell you.
Nicole: So I was up at the crack of dawn trying to find this-- this great recipe... here you go. 'Cause I figured, you know, it--it's our first real picnic, and I thought the food should be original. Do you know how many steps it takes to make mushroom diamond polentas? Polenta diamonds, whatever the recipe is.
Chloe: No, I don't. And I don't think I've ever seen you look so domesticated.
Chloe: Yeah. Let me say a lot's changed since last time I was here. Nice ring, by the way.
Nicole: Thank you. We have a lot to catch up on, you and me. Daniel told you we're engaged, right? I swear he said he was gonna call you.
Chloe: Yeah, yeah, he told me. Nicole, I thought you were my friend. I mean, what the hell's wrong with you? Do you have no decency? You wouldn't do half of your daily routine.
Eric: Serena is-- you know what? The less said is better.
Brady: No problem. I've been there.
Eric: Yeah, well, how is everything at home? Is Tate keeping you busy?
Brady: Oh, well, we've been crazy trying to find a nanny. Thank God that's over.
Eric: Is everything good?
Brady: Well, it's better than good now. Theresa has no reason to stick around. You know, she's out looking for an apartment right now. Well, she supposedly is out hunting for an apartment right now.
Eric: But you don't think she is?
Brady: Eric, when it comes to Theresa, never trust her.
Eve: [Laughs] My little sister just never stops, does she?
Theresa: So you're in?
Eve: I think it's workable. Just send me your e-mail with the details.
Theresa: Okay, thanks, great!
Eve: Okay. So now you can help me, right?
Theresa: Yeah, ask away.
Eve: Okay, so you once told me that Jennifer was really, really sloppy about her bookkeeping. That, you know, it was easy to break into the hospital accounting, right?
Eve: So I was thinking that maybe you could show me how you did that, and then I could--
Theresa: No, you'll get caught.
Theresa: Yeah, ever since I pulled that thing off with Jennifer, she's gone from couldn't care less, to counts every penny every damn day.
Theresa: Sorry, I think I taught her a lesson.
Eve: Oh. [Groans] You know, I had this great opportunity that landed right in my lap because she's really desperate to raise money for her granny's little community center. I thought, you know what--
Theresa: You thought you could catch her in embezzlement. Forget it. Nope, that bitch is as tight as they come.
Eve: Stupid cow. On, man, now I've gotta think of something else. I mean, this is just so infuriating.
Theresa: You're still gonna help me with my thing, though, right?
Eve: Yeah, whatever. Just text me.
Theresa: [Giggles] [Sighs]
Kyle: Paige, the thing is, I don't like what I do either. But the way my life's played out, sometimes I have-- you have to make choices you don't want to make to survive, you know?
Paige: Kyle, this isn't some third world country.
Kyle: Paige, I-- don't get me wrong, I know that there's many other ways to make a living. But see, I'm thinking, you grew up with a lot going for you. Me, my family was a mess. My father walked out on us when I was about 4 or 5 years old. My stepdad hated me. Kicked me out when I was 16.
Paige: Your mom couldn't stop him?
Kyle: No. My mom wanted me out, too.
Kyle: [Scoffs] [Chuckles] So living on the streets-- no more high school, no college. What I do now, Paige, that-- that's about the only thing I can do that brings in enough money. God knows I'm not proud. It's like I'm stuck, you know, in a life I don't like.
Paige: I'm sorry.
Kyle: Don't be. I'm--I'm okay. But I get why you want to back off. I do. It's just that I was-- I don't know. I was kinda hoping that-- that maybe you could help me.
JJ: Why don't I call him? It's not like I'm some stranger. And maybe when we--when we meet up, I could wear a wire.
Roman: No! No, absolutely not.
Watts: You're still too new, JJ. He'll be checking you for wires for a long time.
Roman: One delivery is not gonna make this guy trust you, all right? Besides, we got more training to do, including self-defense.
JJ: Like, I couldn't take that scum.
Roman: Hey, listen to me. This is not a school playground. Do you understand that? Now, I promised your mom I was gonna do everything I could to keep you safe, and that's what I'm damn well gonna do.
Watts: If Kyle contacts you, respond and let us know.
Roman: But he moves first.
JJ: Whatever. All right, I'll be in touch.
Daniel: Look, since Nicole told me everything on her own, I didn't say anything about how you'd recorded Eric at the confessional at St. Luke's.
Serena: Thank you.
Daniel: Not that I'm gonna keep it a secret. I will tell Eric and Nicole when, if I need to. But I really hope we can all find a way to stop this fighting.
Serena: I-I'd welcome that.
Daniel: And if Nicole finds out you tried to ruin her future with me--
Serena: I know. She'd come at me with both barrels.
Daniel: And Eric. Don't you think he's been hurt enough?
Serena: Yes. Thank you for not saying anything about me to them. Yet, anyway. I know that you must hate me. It can't be easy--
Daniel: No, I don't hate you. I'm angry as hell, but I don't hate you. How could I hate someone who's a friend of my daughter? And I also know you realized you made a big mistake getting involved with Xander.
Daniel: And you tried to fix it, a little late, but I saw how desperate you were to try and help Eric and Nicole that night.
Serena: I still love him.
Daniel: Right. Well, that's too bad, because you've lost him forever.
Nicole: Chloe, I--you-- yes, come on, of course we're friends. BFFs, but I can't believe that you would be this upset.
Chloe: You can't? Well, since we're so close and all, why did I not get one text, not one e-mail, God knows you didn't call me. I mean, you got engaged to my ex-husband. You plan on being my son's stepmother.
Nicole: Look, I'm so sorry. I should have called you first thing and not assumed that Daniel would handle everything. Mea culpa, okay? Culpa, culpa, culpa. [Laughs]
Chloe: Nicole, stop it.
Nicole: Okay, could you just at least let me explain? All right, you weren't here and, oh, my God, there was this woman, Serena mason-- I'm telling you, the minute you meet her, you will hate her guts, too.
Chloe: So this woman is the reason why you haven't gotten in touch with me?
Nicole: Well, yeah, I mean, she was always-- never mind. You know, this--this other thing is bigger. Look, I really didn't think, up until recently, that this engagement would stick. But last night, Daniel and I really, really talked, and now, I'm sure, I am positive everything is gonna be absolutely wonderful. And--and--and you know what? I promise you, okay, starting right now, we are gonna fix this, and we are always gonna talk about Parker. I mean, he's the most amazing little boy and sometimes when he looks at me, I just-- Chloe? You're not still upset, are you? I told you how sorry I was.
Chloe: Well, I don't accept it. In fact, I don't accept anything about what's happening right now.
Paige: You want me to help you? You can't mean--
Kyle: No! No. Oh, God no, never. Sorry, you--you went a little pale there.
Paige: Well, yeah.
Kyle: No, I was thinking the exact opposite. Paige, maybe you can help me get out of the life, be somebody else.
Paige: I-- I don't know how I could do that.
Kyle: Just being around you would be a start. I don't get to meet a lot of people like you, Paige. The kind I run into-- just to have a friend who's smart, sweet, kind, that's probably why I was hung up on you right from the start. I'm rambling. [Laughs] I'm sorry, oh.
Paige: No, it's okay.
Kyle: I'd never hurt you. I'll never ask you to do anything. I'll never get you in trouble. You know that. I'm totally clean myself. So you think maybe?
Kyle: I'll tell you what. I'm gonna text you my address. Have you had breakfast yet?
Kyle: Great. Great, if you come by my place in, like, a half an hour or so, then we're on. If not, well, I understand. You don't want to be around somebody like me, but I'm hoping I'll see you.
[Cell phone alert buzzes]
Kyle: There's the text.
JJ: [Thinking] If Roman checks my call history, they'll know I made contact first. Oh, they'd pull me off the case. I've gotta do something, 'cause Paige has no idea.
Brady: The thing is, Eric, look, I want--I want to raise Tate in a loving home, a serene environment, and I'm totally cool with the joint custody thing.
Brady: [Sighs] Look, I'm not saying she planned it, but this extensive nanny search that we've been on, she's ended up living in my house yet another week.
Eric: Brady, you sound like you're still angry from the way she pressured Melanie to leave.
Brady: I am. Why wouldn't I still be angry about that? The thing is, I don't want Tate picking up on that anger, because he will if that woman is in my house for another minute.
Eric: I hear you, but listen. Theresa is learning to cope. She's a mother adjusting to a new life. I mean, it's hard. You know, she could use some help.
Brady: You know what's hard, Eric? Having to look at her face and being reminded that she was the woman that ruined my future with probably the sweetest woman that I'd ever known.
Eric: I think you need some distance.
Brady: [Scoffs] Yeah. Preferably today.
Anne: So am I a genius? Am I connected?
Anne: Am I good for America?
Theresa: Did you do it?
Anne: Everything's arranged. Gumdrop, here you go.
Theresa: Oh, Anne, you are so terrific!
Anne: Yes, I agree with you.
Theresa: Oh, my God. All right, if this doesn't work, I don't know what will.
Anne: All right, let's get out of here.
Chloe: Look, I know that I had a problem with Daniel moving on with Jennifer.
Nicole: Yeah, I seem to remember.
Chloe: However, I am over him now. I'm completely over Daniel, and I was thrilled when he told me he'd found someone. Until I heard it was you.
Nicole: What kind of statement is that? You're saying I'm not good enough for him?
Chloe: That's not my call. What my call is, is anything that has to do with my son. And you're definitely not good enough for Parker.
Jennifer: Mr. Satterfield, if we could just speak to each other in a civil-- okay, well, I don't believe that I'm wasting your time. I-- Mr. Satterfield, the Horton community center is a shelter for abused teens who have no other-- hey, hey, you wake up! No, it is not my fault that you paid out millions. I was a reporter doing my job exposing you for committing fraud. Oh, oh, really? Well, guess what, I'm gonna do it again. Oh, oh, yes, I am. I'm gonna nail you to the wall the same way I did last time and you will-- [Gasps] You jerk! Jerk, jerk!
Eric: Hey, hey, is everything okay?
Jennifer: Oh, that makes me mad.
Eric: What's going on?
Jennifer: There is a developer. He wants to completely destroy the Horton community center and put in yet another strip mall. And when I talked to Aiden Jennings, he said there's nothing we could do about it. So I called Satterfield on the phone personally, and you know what he did? He hung up on me, and he called me a fool. And I feel the same way about him.
Kyle: [Laughs] No, she totally bought it. Practically had tears in her eyes. Yeah, chicks like that always get weepy when I do that little sad puppy dog routine. [Laughs] Are you kidding? She's totally hot. Definitely worth it, definitely.
[Knock on door]
Kyle: Oh, looks like she's already here. I gotta go. All right, all right, bye.
JJ: Hey, man.
Kyle: What are you doing here, man?
JJ: I decided I don't want to bus tables all summer. We gonna do business or what?
Kyle: Actually, I was thinking, like, later, JJ.
JJ: Like when later?
Kyle: Hang on.
Kyle: I got these to take care of, stuff lined up, like that.
Kyle: Okay. Look, it's hard to do business if--if--if you don't plan accordingly. You get my meaning?
JJ: Yeah, so you're saying I got nothing?
[Cell phone rings]
Kyle: Hang loose. Don't touch anything. Be back in a sec. Hey, what's up?
Serena: I know I lost him. We had such a wonderful thing. And then all the lies, my lies, destroyed it.
Daniel: Then you must know the best thing to do right now is just-- just move on.
Serena: Meaning leaving Salem?
Daniel: Well, what else is there for you here? Melanie's gone, Eric's a mess, thanks to you. And everyone else here just wants to help him.
Serena: And hate me. I just disappear.
Daniel: Too much ugliness went down, Serena. Leave it, leave it behind. Start fresh somewhere else.
Daniel: Think about it.
Nicole: How dare you say that. I adore that little boy...
Chloe: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you'll really turn on the sugar...
Nicole: And he adores me.
Chloe: Until you find a new a new project.
Nicole: No, we have bonded.
Chloe: Bonded. Nicole, I'm talking about a stable home life. Do you even know how to spell "stable"?
Nicole: Oh, my God. This coming from a crazy woman who let her mother take Parker to brazil and then threatened--
Chloe: Oh, enough, enough.
Nicole: No, I--no, it is not enough because I love Daniel and we are gonna build a terrific life together.
Chloe: Really? Isn't that what you said about Brady, oh, and EJ, oh, and Eric, and God knows how many--
Nicole: That is not fair.
Chloe: You know what's not fair? Is an unstable woman saying that she's gonna raise my son. Face it, Nicole, you always screw up. You always do. And when you do with Daniel...
Nicole: I won't.
Chloe: I don't want my son being in the middle of that mess.
Nicole: He won't be. I've changed. Daniel and I talked about that last night how I'm becoming honest and real and--
Chloe: Oh, please, oh, God, don't give me that this-time-is-different crap. Nicole, this comes from the heart, okay? I really want you to be happy, I do, but you're just one of these people who never seems to make it to the finish line. And I can't risk having my son around someone like that. Okay? So for once, please stop lying to yourself and stop being selfish. If you really love Daniel and Parker, then walk away.
Theresa: In here.
Brady: Good, listen, have you managed to--
Brady: Hi. What happened?
Theresa: Brady, I'm really sorry. I know--I know that you want me to move out, but I think I'm gonna have to put that off for a while.
Serena: [Sighs] [Thinking] Dear Eric, I'm not sure you'll be willing to read this, but I need... [Cries] To say good-bye.
Eric: Jenn, just take a breath, calm down. Try concentrating on something else.
Jennifer: Okay. I will concentrate on-- I need to go to work. That's what I need to concentrate on.
Eric: And I have to meet my mom at the hospital, so why don't I walk you?
Jennifer: Okay, thank you. I'm telling you right now, I am gonna stop that man if it is the last thing I do.
JJ: What's this for? Maybe a spare.
Kyle: Okay. We gotta set some ground rules, man, because I don't like people just dropping by.
JJ: Okay, look, I understand.
JJ: But I don't like being some part-time errand boy.
[Knock on door]
Kyle: Hang on. Watch out.
Paige: Hey, I was wondering if that breakfast offer was still--
Nicole: Chloe, you need to leave. Now.
Chloe: We're not done.
Nicole: Seriously, go. You know what? I have to get ready for a picnic, and I don't need you dragging up things from the past to make me feel bad about myself, okay? So just seriously, get out of my life.
Chloe: We're not done!
Nicole: Aah! Oh, my God! Do you have any idea how hard it was to make those?
Chloe: Believe me, I did everyone a favor. You're a terrible cook and a terrible friend. Just like you're gonna be a terrible wife and a terrible stepmother.
Nicole: Take that back!
Chloe: You bitch! What's wrong with you?!
