Brady: I feel like we've interviewed half the women in Salem.
Theresa: I know.
Brady: I mean, this agency is supposed to be known for top-of-the-line nannies, right?
Theresa: So they say.
Brady: So why is every woman that comes through these doors unqualified?
Theresa: I have no idea.
Aiden: I sent my assistant home early tonight. Here, have a seat, please.
Ben: Your message said you got another call from Florida.
Aiden: Yeah, the authorities apparently have some more questions.
Ben: Am I in trouble?
Clyde: All right, stop talking and listen, the both of you. We got everything we need on that lab technician. You know how it goes down, right? Okay, it happens tonight. No screw-ups.
Kayla: Ah, great. I'm glad I caught you.
Abigail: Hi, I texted you. Did you get it?
Kayla: I did. And the answer is yes. You are eight weeks along, and you can find out who your baby's father is.
Will: Who's that? Who's that?
Chad: And look at you. All ready for bed? Oh, my God, she is gonna break so many hearts, will.
Will: Oh, I know. Will you hold her for a second? I got to grab her blanket.
Chad: I would love to.
Will: You remember your honorary uncle Chad?
Chad: I would hope so. Oh-ho-ho, what a feeling. Yeah. You are magic. You know that? Huh?
Will: Did you tell him that you're pregnant?
Will: Have you given any more thought about what you'll do if it turns out that Chad's the father?
Abigail: Yes, will, of course I have. That's all I think about.
Eric: I do love you. I want you to have the life that makes you happy. I'll never tell Daniel what happened between us that night. You have nothing to fear about that ever again.
Nicole: Thank you. Does this mean you've gotten over how you feel about me?
Eric: No. I don't think I ever will.
Serena: Daniel, there's something that you need to hear.
Daniel: Look, if this is about Nicole...
Serena: It's not. It's Eric.
Nicole: It can't be that way. You're saying you still love me, but that I have nothing to worry about? It can't be both ways.
Eric: Yes, it can. And it is.
Daniel: This is about Eric?
Daniel: Okay. Before you start, though, if you think I'm gonna help you fix things with Eric, you better think again.
Serena: That's not what this is about, Daniel. I didn't come here for a favor. I came here to do one for you.
One, two, three o'clock. Four o'clock pop.
Eric: All I've done is think about this, and pray, and...
Nicole: Eric, I am glad you still have your faith, but--
Eric: Nicole, just hear me out, please. My prayers were answered. But, as usual, not the way I expected. You see, it finally hit me, the real reason why I needed to tell Daniel. It's because if I thought if he knew... you and I could have a chance to be together.
Eric: But that's not love. It's selfishness. And if I love you, honestly love you--and I do-- what I should want is for you to be happy. What makes you happiest, and what you deserve, is to be with Daniel.
Daniel: You're gonna do me a favor?
Serena: Daniel, I've known about you a lot longer than I've known you.
Daniel: Because of Melanie.
Serena: And when I met you, I-- is this Nicole's jacket?
Daniel: Yeah, yeah.
Serena: Is she here? 'Cause she should hear this too.
Daniel: No, no, she's out.
Serena: She'll be back soon?
Daniel: I think so.
Serena: Good. I'll wait.
Brady: I have no idea what to tell the buyers at this point. It's something I'm gonna have to deal with at the office.
Theresa: Work's a real killer, huh?
Brady: You have no idea. Theresa, do you think we're being too picky?
Theresa: Are you kidding? This is our son we're talking about.
Brady: I realize that.
Theresa: Come on, Brady. You've interviewed all those losers. You know how incompetent they are. Let's not forget that last disaster we had to fire.
Brady: Hayley, right, I know. What about that women that came here the other day who had just moved here? She seemed okay.
Theresa: The one I caught Googling your net worth? That's not okay, Brady.
Brady: You're right. That's not okay.
Theresa: Listen, there's a parenting website I found, and it spelled out exactly what we need, all right? A nanny has to have the right qualifications, you know? Tate's a helpless little baby. And who's gonna look out for him if we don't?
Brady: Right, I know. When's the next interview?
Theresa: It's not for a while. Listen, I need to go check in at the hospital, okay? But Tate's sleeping, and the monitor's on nice and loud. So I'll be back later, all right?
Brady: Okay, all right.
Maggie: Still no nanny?
Maggie: Is it really so difficult to find someone?
Brady: Apparently so.
Theresa: [Laughs softly] Yeah, it's really hard... when you've rigged the system.
Will: Oh, I'm sorry. Sonny's not here. I can leave him a message if you want.
Chad: Actually, I came to see you.
Will: Oh, okay. Well, just give me a minute. I got to go put her down. She's staying with the sitter tonight, and it's usually better for the trip over if she's already asleep, so...
Chad: Okay. Good night.
Will: Say bye-bye.
Chad: Good night.
Ben: Was it the cops who called you?
Aiden: No, it was an assistant state's attorney.
Ben: So they're keeping tabs on me.
Aiden: Well, more like following up.
Ben: It doesn't make sense. I was a total nobody in that whole gambling thing down in Florida. Plus, I thought they closed the case. Why open it again?
Aiden: Would they have a reason to open it again?
Kayla: We have Chad's DNA on file, so we'll use that to check for paternity.
Abigail: Okay. Hey, Kayla, thank you. Thank you so much, so much, for helping me with this.
Kayla: You are welcome. I know that this has been weighing you down the last few weeks. Now it's time to know for sure.
Abigail: Doing this is... sort of questionable, right?
Kayla: Somewhat, yes. But actually, the privacy issue is fairly small. All I'm gonna do is just check for a match. And then you'll finally know for sure.
Abigail: Right, then I'll know if the father is either Ben or Chad.
Will: It's a nice shot, huh?
Chad: Yeah. Did you know grace would have 6 years old now?
Will: Yeah. 6 this last January.
Chad: Yeah, I guess it's easy for you to remember. You know, you actually got to spend time with her, hold her and play with her.
Will: Do you think about grace a lot?
Chad: Yeah, I try not to go there. But, you know, anytime I see a little girl or, you know, especially when I hold Arianna, it just all kind of comes back.
Will: Did you come here just to talk about grace?
Chad: No. No, actually, I came here to talk to you about Abigail. Woman: How are you doing in there baby girl?
Ben: Mr. Jennings, I have no idea why they'd still be looking at me.
Aiden: Okay. Is there anything that you forgot to tell me?
Ben: Nothing, no. Look, I know I should have been more upfront with you when I first came to see you. But aside from telling people where they could go to gamble, if they asked, seriously, I walked--I made sure I walked the line when I was in Florida.
Aiden: Yeah, when you were going by the name of Kevin Reynolds?
Ben: I used that name to keep my father from tracking me down.
Aiden: Yeah, you told me that. And he never did?
Aiden: Well, then it's probably nothing, okay? So go. Do whatever you're gonna do tonight, and don't even worry about it.
Ben: Yeah, okay. Thanks.
Aiden: All right.
Ben: All right.
Aiden: Take care.
Ben: You too.
Kayla: I thought you'd be relieved. At least the suspense of all this will be over with. Is there something else?
Abigail: Yeah, lots.
Kayla: About Ben or Chad?
Abigail: Well, how about people finding out before my family does? Hope already knows.
Kayla: You told her?
Abigail: No, I didn't tell her. She accidentally spotted the box that the pregnancy test came in.
Kayla: But she doesn't know that Chad could be the father?
Abigail: No. No, she'll go through the roof if Chad is.
Kayla: No, she wouldn't, baby. She would support you, just as JJ and your mother would. They all love you. And no matter who the father is, this child is gonna be yours.
Abigail: Well, I don't-- I don't see them throwing a big celebration if the baby turns out to be a DiMera.
Will: Chad, I don't know why you want to discuss Abigail with me, but...
Chad: Because you're close with her, all right? And I have to talk to her.
Will: Call her.
Chad: She won't pick up. All right, I went to visit her at the hospital today, which made her mad, and then furious. And then Ben's old man shows up, so I was out the door.
Will: Why was she angry?
Chad: Okay, look, here it goes. I did something last month that hurt her, badly. Like, think of something so disgusting that you wouldn't even want to say it out loud, and then multiply that by ten, and that's what I did.
Chad: Because I love her.
Clyde: Wait a minute. That's all there was to it?
Ben: Well, yeah. Mr. Jennings said it was probably nothing. But still, I thought I'd let you know.
Clyde: Yeah, I'm glad you did. That's my boy. I'll see you soon.
Nicole: Thank you. You made my day. My life.
Eric: Hardly. But I'm glad.
Nicole: We still have to worry about Serena.
Eric: I don't think so. I mean, what does she actually know? Nothing. I mean, if she wants to dig, let her. She'll just come up empty.
Nicole: And you won't...
Eric: Say a word. I'm at peace. There's nothing more to say to anyone. You certainly won't say a word to anyone.
Eric: Then Serena will never have anything more than a wild guess.
Daniel: No, Serena. No, you are not waiting for Nicole to come home. The hell with this conversation. In fact, we're not even having a conversation.
Serena: Wait, did you just say that I'm not waiting for Nicole to come home? Meaning she lives here?
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, we're engaged. But don't expect an invitation. We're done.
Serena: No, you're right. You're right. We don't need to wait for Nicole to come home. We need to do this right now. You deserve to know what's going on.
Maggie: Tate looks so sweet when he's sleeping.
Brady: Yes, he does. Okay.
Maggie: Are those all the nannies you've interviewed?
Brady: Yep, and it looks like tomorrow we'll be interviewing some more.
Maggie: You know, I really don't understand why it's so difficult.
Brady: Theresa downloaded a bunch of questions that we were supposed to ask. And sure enough, none of them made the cut. I know we're supposed to demand the best. Tate deserves the best. But the longer we drag this out, Maggie...
Maggie: The longer she lives here.
Brady: And I'm swamped at the office, so I've had to give her every responsibility. She found the agency. She's setting up the interviews.
Maggie: Mm-hmm. So do you think she's dragging her feet?
Brady: No, I mean... not exactly.
Maggie: All right, then. What exactly?
Theresa: [Laughs] It is exactly the way I planned. It couldn't be better.
Anne: Did I deliver, or did I de-liv-er?
Theresa: Oh, you did. And your friend who runs the agency is amazing.
Anne: Yeah, Gloria's always talking about how there's, like, ten deadhead losers for every decent nanny. You know, she's gonna want a little something for her efforts here.
Theresa: Yeah, tell her not to worry, I'll come through.
Anne: Okay. Oh, no, I told her. I told her that, despite what I thought, you're gonna marry this gorgeous gazillionaire.
Theresa: Look, Anne, I don't want to marry Brady because he's rich, okay? We have a child together, and I love him. Oh, Anne, I love him so much. I love his heart, and I love his soul, and--
Anne: Yeah, and his money.
Theresa: Look, Anne, stop making snide remarks, okay? I'm serious. Just focus. Did you get a hold of your friend?
Anne: I did. She'll be here any minute.
Theresa: Great. Okay, the main thing is, I just someone around who will say the right things and drop little hints to Brady about how I'm just this amazing--
Anne: Oh, there she is. Hey, Megan, right on time. Theresa, please meet Megan, your dream nanny.
Will: Wait, so you did something awful to Abigail because you love her?
Chad: Yeah, I know. It was stupid. But that's why I need to explain it to her, and soon.
Will: Why soon?
Chad: She moved in with Ben a while ago. For all I know, he's thinking it's time to take it to the next level.
Will: Yeah, that could happen.
Chad: But I got to at least give it a shot, right? I mean, even Marlena said that if I love somebody, I can't just do nothing.
Will: Does Marlena know that you're talking about Abigail?
Chad: No. But, I mean, she's still right.
Will: Okay, but, Chad... what if Abigail is sold on Ben and she wants nothing to do with you?
Chad: Then... I back off, permanently. But I have to at least give it a shot, right? The problem is, is she won't talk to me, which is why I need you to get to her and convince her that she has to hear me out. Please.
Abigail: That's why I haven't said anything to my mom or JJ.
Kayla: Well, you need the facts first.
Abigail: Right. And then, even if it's worst-case scenario, I'll tell them, and I'll hope that they'll understand.
Kayla: You know what, I can't say this enough. They love you, and they're gonna love your baby. Does anybody in this family love Sydney or Johnny any less because of who their father was?
Kayla: No. And you forgot that maybe this baby could be Ben's. Why don't you concentrate on that? I mean, he'd be happy about this, right?
Abigail: Oh, yeah, yeah. I think he'd be thrilled.
Kayla: And so would you, right? Assuming that you're gonna keep this baby. You're going to keep it, right?
Aiden: Okay, I should leave these on her desk.
Clyde: Good evening, counselor.
Eric: So, from now on, any time that we meet, everything's gonna be fine, because I've accepted the fact that your life is now with Daniel.
Nicole: Eric, you know I will always care about you.
Eric: Back at you.
Caroline: Oh, sorry, sorry.
Daniel: Great. More cryptic threats. Let me guess, you were gonna trash Nicole.
Serena: Daniel, if I were about to marry someone and I was told that there's really important information that I didn't know about that person, I'd play it smart and listen.
Daniel: Oh, you might, but I won't... since I know the information is coming from a liar.
Serena: Really? You don't want to know that Eric and Nicole slept together the night they almost died?
Megan: I pretty much raised those Hawkins kids nine long years, and then I did a three-year stint with the Mannings over in east Salem. That ended last spring.
Theresa: Yeah, you were a nanny for a lot of years.
Megan: Yeah, kind of a no-brainer, really. I mean, if you can wipe one bottom, you can wipe them all, right? Trust me. When it comes to kids...
Anne: Oh, no.
Megan: I got it down to a science.
Anne: Yeah, Megan's my downstairs neighbor, and she is willing to come out of retirement to help you because, well, she loves children.
Theresa: Oh, come on, let's be real, Anne. What she loves is the salary that I'm offering. Listen up, Megan. There's a lot that goes into this, okay? There's a hidden camera in the nursery, and a lot of other rooms in that house probably. So I just need you to know that I'm not gonna be the only one watching you, okay?
Anne: She knows how to play the responsible game, T.
Megan: Relax, kiddo. I can do this, piece of cake. I mean, not that I wouldn't rather be playing keno somewhere.
Anne: [Laughing] Keno.
Theresa: Hm, well, that's reassuring. Listen, also, on a daily basis, you need to tell anyone in that house who asks, or anyone who doesn't ask, that I am one terrific mom.
Megan: Got it.
Theresa: And you just can't understand how the baby's daddy and I aren't a couple, and how I love Brady, and even if he doesn't want to hear it, I love him, and you think that we should be a couple, you know, for the baby's sake.
Megan: Check. Anne already filled me in. I will tell him you are his one and only. He'll be thinking about you night and day.
Theresa: All right, well, then you're the nanny we've been looking for.
Brady: It does seem strange that all of the applicants seem unqualified.
Maggie: Well, maybe it's because Theresa is in charge of the search.
Brady: [Chuckles] Possibly. I've been playing phone tag with the woman that runs the agency, so as soon as I get a hold of her, I'm gonna tell her exactly what we need.
Maggie: So why does she keep sending applicants that aren't qualified?
Brady: Maggie, I don't know. I just want this to be over. It's driving me nuts.
Maggie: Brady... maybe Theresa's making this harder than it needs to be, or not. But one thing we both know from the program: Change the things that you can change.
Maggie: Good night.
Brady: Good night.
Abigail: Yes, I'm-- I'm keeping this baby no matter what. I thought I told you that.
Kayla: You did. I was just wondering if maybe you'd changed your mind. I'm hoping that you didn't.
Abigail: No, I haven't changed my mind. It's just... God, I just--everything just feels so overwhelming right now.
Kayla: Of course it does. But everything will be clearer once we do the paternity test.
Abigail: And, Kayla, everything is completely confidential, right?
Kayla: 100%. Martin Hines runs the lab, and he'll be handling this. I will take Chad's name off all the records. I will walk it down to him myself, and then martin will take over.
Abigail: My name won't be, I mean...
Kayla: No, your name will not be anywhere on the blood sample. Strictly anonymous.
Abigail: Thank you so much.
Kayla: I love you, babe.
Abigail: I love you too.
Kayla: All right, I will see you in the morning.
Kayla: All right, stay positive, all right? Okay.
[Cell phone ringing]
Chad: Hey, look, I know that this is asking a lot, but thank--
[Cell phone ringing]
Will: It's Abigail. She'll be here in a few minutes.
Chad: Thank you so much, all right? I'm just gonna-- I'll wait in the bedroom.
Will: Whoa, no. No way. Look, I said I would talk to her. I did not say that I would help you ambush her.
Chad: Yeah, but if she says no, then I need to be able to plead my case.
Will: No. No, Chad, if she says no, then it's over. It's her decision. It's her call. And you have to respect whatever she says.
Chad: Yeah. Yeah, I guess.
Will: No, not, "I guess." Chad, you can't be here. And if you hang out there and just come charging in, I swear, we are done. You clear?
Chad: Okay, got it, fine. Then I'll just-- I'll wait in the park, and then, you know, you can call me if she says yes, or doesn't.
Will: Yeah, you'll know when I know.
Chad: Thank you. Thank you. All right.
Clyde: You probably know why I'm here. Ben called me.
Aiden: Yeah, I thought he might.
Clyde: Well, being his daddy, I need to know what I can do to help. Now, who was this fella who called you?
Aiden: Look, Clyde, I know you want to be a part of this, but Ben is a client, as are you, so it's an issue of confidentiality. Now, of course, you're free to discuss anything you like with Ben, so...
Clyde: I don't know, Aiden. It doesn't seem right, you shutting out a daddy like that.
Aiden: Well, look at it this way. Wouldn't you want me to be equally discreet if Ben came here asking me questions about your legal situation?
Clyde: Good point. I thank you for your time, counselor, and for being so honest with me.
Aiden: Always a pleasure.
Caroline: Well, you told me about the two of you getting back together, and I'd forgotten.
Eric: No, grandma. You didn't forget. Nicole and I, we're-- we're good friends, and I was just offering my best wishes. She and Daniel, they're getting married.
Caroline: Oh, really. Oh. Best wishes, Nicole.
Nicole: Thank you. I'm very happy.
Eric: She deserves to be.
Nicole: Well, listen. I'm gonna let you two have some time, so excuse me.
Eric: Grandma, what's the matter?
Caroline: Well, it's just wrong.
Eric: What is?
Caroline: Well, Nicole is very happy. I mean, she's found love. And... my grandson, who's the sweetest man in the whole wide world, he deserves to be happy too.
Eric: Grandma, I'm fine. I have all I need.
Daniel: I am sick to death of your games. Eric is my friend. Nicole loves me. We are engaged.
Serena: I know what you said. Look, you don't have to take it from me. Listen to your good friend talk about your fiancÚ.
Eric: It was more. I loved her. She loved me. Time was running out, and... we started to make love.
Kayla: Martin, I need this to be off the record.
Martin: Sure, no problem.
Kayla: Are you going to be alone tomorrow morning in your lab?
Martin: Yeah, yeah. Nobody else comes in until I'm done with my lunch break. Why?
Kayla: I need to ask a very big favor of you.
Abigail: Hey, I saw your sitter was just leaving. It's a little late, isn't it?
Will: She's actually taking over the night.
Abigail: Oh. Oh, you and Sonny are gonna have a little night, maybe?
Will: Ah, we'll see. Thank you for coming.
Abigail: Yeah, yeah. Oh, I had a puzzle that I got for Ari I wanted to drop off anyway.
Chad: Thank you.
Abigail: So? You said it was important.
Chad: Well, first, I'm gonna have to ask. Any news?
Abigail: The paternity test is tomorrow. I'll know then. And yes, I will tell you.
Abigail: Okay, so what's up?
Will: Actually, Abigail, I want to talk to you about Chad.
[Cell phone ringing]
I saw that Martin guy talking to the lady doctor you told me about.
Headed toward the elevator. He's about ready to leave.
Clyde: You know which way he always walks home, right?
Yep, I'll be right behind him.
Clyde: Better be. Hey, it's a go. I'll see you there.
Serena: He was confessing to his priest. Daniel, if that wasn't clear enough for you, I can play it again. Should I?
Eric: There's more.
Daniel: That's enough.
Serena: I'm sorry. At least now you know. I'm not the only one who made mistakes, but at least I admit to mine, unlike Nicole. Daniel, that woman that you're about to marry, there are liars and there are cheaters, and then there's Nicole.
Daniel: Get out.
Theresa: Okay. So just hang here for a minute, and then ring the bell. Say all the right things, and voila, you'll be the answer we've been looking for. Oh, for god's sake, spit your gum out. I meant in a piece of-- just...never mind. Okay, here we go. Brady, I'm back.
Brady: In here.
Theresa: Oh, okay, great. We can pick up where we left off. Who's this?
Brady: Theresa, we can finally stop looking. I have found the perfect nanny.
Aiden: Okay, great. Keep digging. Yeah, I want to know everything there is to know about Clyde Weston. All right, thanks again. And just call me back when you have anything more. All right, bye.
[Cell phone ringing]
Chad: Will, what's the word? What'd she say? Zoe, hi. Yeah. Yes, I thought you were in-- uh-huh, yeah, I remember. Right. No, sorry, I can't. I can't make it. No, I know I should have told you, but you know, something came up, and... I'm actually waiting on a call, and it's really important.
Abigail: Seriously, will? Really? You want to talk to me about Chad? That's what you want to talk-- that's why you asked me to come over here? Chad, the one person that I do not want to talk to anyone about?
Will: Come on, Abigail...
Abigail: No. You know what, will? I've actually had my fill of Chad for the day, because he came to the hospital to see me. Yeah, he barged into my office today because he wanted to--
Will: I know, I know. He came in, and you were really angry, and then Ben's father showed up, and then Chad lost his chance.
Abigail: Sorry. Chad lost his chance? His chance to what, exactly? And how did you know that Clyde was there?
Will: Chad told me. He was here just a few minutes ago.
Abigail: Oh. What'd you--what'd you say to him? What did you tell him, will?
Will: Would you take it easy?
Abigail: What did you tell him?
Will: I didn't tell him anything about you, okay? You can trust me.
Abigail: Can I? Can I trust you? You talked to that bastard behind my back. I don't know if I can trust you, will.
Will: I did not go behind your back, Abigail. He came over here asking for a favor. I listened, that's it.
Abigail: No, that's not it. You asked me to come over.
Will: Chad wants-- Chad needs to talk to you.
Abigail: No, I'm not talking to Chad. After the way that he's treated me, why should I talk to him?
Will: Chad is in love with you.
Martin: Oh. Sorry, I'm just trying to go that way.
Clyde: Yeah, I was hoping we could have a little talk first.
Martin: Excuse me? Do we know each other?
Clyde: No, sir. But I'd like to remedy that.
Eric: Are you sure you don't want me to walk you back to the pub?
Caroline: No, no, no. Cindy's waiting for me. Eric... I want you to promise me something.
Caroline: I want you to look for love again. Now, I know you've had some terrible times, but I don't want you to give up.
Eric: I've got family and friends. Grandma, I love them all. That's enough for now.
Caroline: I don't think so.
Caroline: All right, dear.
Daniel: Mom, I realize that. I mean, an engagement party is-- can I--can I get back to you? No, I'm fine. I'm okay. I just... yeah, okay. No, it's fine, mom. It's good, yeah. Just give me--give me the possible dates. Okay. [Sniffs] Yep, yep, okay. I--I got it. Yeah, no, it's just a lot going on today. I will get back to you. All right, Mom.
Nicole: You know something? It's beautiful out there. Stars everywhere, gorgeous moon. After dinner, we should take a walk down by the river. It'll be perfect, just like here, in my new home. Daniel, what's wrong?
