Daniel: Nicole... will you marry me?
Hope: Hey, Abigail. Sweetie, hi, it's me. I just wanted to call to see how you were doing, check up on you. Sweetie, I just-- I realize how difficult and how scary it must be to find out that you're pregnant when it wasn't planned, but I just-- please know that you can talk to me, okay? So call me. Let me know that you're okay. I love you. Call me. Oh.
Hope: Oh, hi.
Marlena: Thank you for the gorgeous postcards.
Doug: Well, it was wonderful. Perfect weather.
Marlena: Now, Cozumel, the keys, where else?
Julie: That was it. Glorious sea days. The interesting thing was all the voice mail. The rumors were flying.
Marlena: What rumors?
Julie: About you... and you.
Doug: So... what's the story? You two guys back together again or not?
Brady: Look who came to see my son.
Maggie: [Whispering] Well, he's sleeping right now.
Brady: Um... you want to hold him?
Maggie: You want to try?
Brady: Want to try?
Brady: Here you go.
Maggie: Whoops. All right, shh.
Brady: No, it's all right. Good job. Look at you.
Maggie: Shh, that's it. That's it. That's it.
Paul: Hey, buddy.
Roman: You came up the back way, right?
Watts: What have you decided?
JJ: To go undercover for the DEA, like you asked.
Roman: Okay. Good.
Watts: When can you start?
JJ: I've already started. I have a meeting set today with Kyle southern.
Kyle: So this guy, my possible assistant, he's gonna meet me later today. No, and it's a good thing. I can't move all the weight I have by myself. I need him, yes.
Clyde: Don't you get cocky, boy.
Kyle: Why do you say that?
Clyde: You just use your head.
Serena: What happened, Eric? What happened when Xander locked the two of you in that crawl space and you thought you were gonna die? What really happened between you and Nicole?
Eric: I'm not gonna play games with you, Serena. You know exactly what happened.
Serena: Do I?
Nicole: [Cries] Daniel, is this really happening? [Inhales deeply]
Daniel: Is that a yes?
Maggie: You're a natural.
Paul: Because this little guy's making it real easy for me. This means so much to me. I'm just the uncle. I can't even imagine what it's like being a dad.
Brady: Oh, it's pretty crazy. I mean, I always thought about having kids, but when it finally happens to you... you have no idea the kind of effect it has on you. It changes everything... for the better.
Roman: JJ... you shouldn't have done anything without talking to one of us first.
Watts: Moving forward, yes, but good for you for getting a meeting with southern.
Roman: Agent watts, he doesn't know what he's doing yet.
Watts: He'll learn on the job. Look, we need to get to this guy fast, because I believe he's a direct link to the source bringing drugs into Salem.
Roman: JJ... no more going rogue. Is that clear?
JJ: Yes, sir, clear.
Watts: And you know this entire op stays in this office. So no one on the Salem pd knows about this, just Roman.
JJ: I know.
Roman: I am curious about something, though.
Roman: You had zero interest in this the two times we talked about it before. Now you're all-in. What changed?
Paige: I was thinking of calling this guy Kyle.
Daphne: Kyle southern?
Paige: Yeah, why?
Daphne: Well, everyone totally thinks he's a drug dealer, Paige.
Paige: Doesn't mean it's true.
Daphne: Even so, what do you even see in him?
Paige: Have you looked at him, Daphne?
Daphne: I know you, and I know you don't go after a guy just 'cause you think he's cute. You're doing this 'cause you know it's gonna make JJ mad as hell.
Eric: Don't you bait me, Serena. You know what happened. Your friend Xander--he tried to kill Nicole and me, and he seemed to derive great pleasure in making it slow and painful.
Serena: I tried to warn you.
Eric: Then why are you bringing it up? You know I'm not gonna forgive you for what you put us through.
Serena: I'm sorry. Just--Nicole said something to me the last time we were alone together, and... I can't stop thinking about it.
Nicole: Yes! This is a yes! Yes, yes, yes!
Daniel: Yes. Yes.
Nicole: Daniel Jonas, I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life showing you how much. Yes! [Laughs]
Daniel: Mm. Oh. I am so grateful I found you. For everything we have, for everything we've been through to get right to this moment... I am so grateful.
Nicole: Mm. [Chuckles] Matt's gotten used to the funk in his man-cave.
Marlena: John and I--
Julie: I know, we're being nosy parkers, but it's because we care about you guys so much.
Marlena: We know you do.
Julie: So is it on, or is it off? Or is it off and on or just sort of off, sort of on?
Julie: So what is it?
Marlena: Well, I--we, um... I don't know. What would you say?
John: Well, I-I would say that doc and I are... we're finding our way back to each other.
Julie: [Gasps] May I say, we are so very glad you're finding your way back to each other.
Marlena: Thank you, Julie.
Julie: The last night of this cruise, Doug and I were feeling rather sentimental. [Laughs]
Doug: Very unlike us.
Julie: Yeah. Well, we're sentimental, and we're proud of it. But--but that night we were having a serious conversation, and we talked about how blessed we are... to share our lives with each other, that it has made everything we do so much sweeter, so much more meaningful, and we were just wishing the same for the people that mean so much in our lives.
Doug: And you guys are on the top of that list.
Marlena: Wow. You know, we--we do feel very blessed for all the time we've had together, blessed for... great family, unmatchable friends like you... who we know are always rooting for us.
Julie: Big-time. Could the two of you put your heads together?
Marlena: Uh, why?
Julie: I would like to get a photo of you finding your way back to each other.
Doug: So put your arm around her, big guy. Over there, yeah, that's it.
Doug: That's it.
Julie: A little closer. How about a kiss? Oh, perfect. Oh, perfect!
Paige: That's not true, Daphne. I try not to even think about JJ anymore, much less waste my energy trying to get him mad.
Daphne: Okay, so, if you're not trying to get him mad, then what? You're getting involved with a loser drug dealer to make him care, to make him save you?
Paige: No! I don't want to make him care or save me or anything. I just want him to leave me alone forever, okay?
Daphne: Can you say that again and mean it?
Paige: Maybe you're right. Maybe I need to just... let go of this whole thing.
JJ: I thought about it a lot. And with my history, I just want to do my part.
Watts: That's admirable, JJ. But you have to get that this operation won't be fast. You got to be patient. You got to make this guy Kyle trust you and build a relationship.
JJ: I can do that. I can be patient.
Watts: And you got to keep quiet to everyone.
JJ: Actually, there's one person that I have to tell. My mom has to know what I'm doing.
Watts: Your mom?
Roman: Agent watts, hear him out.
JJ: I put her through hell, and if it got back to her that I was dealing again, it would break her heart. So, if she can't know... I'm not going undercover.
Jennifer: Can you believe that this clerk job in surgical still isn't filled?
Maxine: How many people have you seen for it?
Jennifer: A whole lot, but there's only one suitable candidate.
Maxine: Who's that?
Jennifer: Paige Larson.
Maxine: You offered it to her?
Jennifer: Yes. I didn't even give it a second thought, and she applied for it. But she must have changed her mind, because she just turned it down flat.
Daniel: I know nothing's ever perfect, but... this feels very close to it.
Nicole: [Laughs] It does.
Daniel: Mm. We have come through so much to get here, and now... knowing we can trust each other always, share everything, I know nothing could ever come between us.
Daniel: What? You okay? What is it?
Nicole: Uh, it's just, um... does parker know about this? I mean, I know you told him that I'd be living with you.
Daniel: Yeah, and he loves that idea a lot. And when he comes home from his mother's, I will tell him about the proposal... and what it means.
Nicole: Okay. Are you--you sure I should wear this, you know? Maybe I should wait until you tell him, until we tell everybody.
Daniel: What? No way. That ring stays on your finger.
Nicole: Are you sure you don't want to tell everyone before they see the ring?
Daniel: I am absolutely sure. Honey, this is about us and not anybody else. Besides, we'll tell family and friends immediately. There's no reason to hide it. You don't agree.
Nicole: No, no, it's not that. I just, uh...
Daniel: You just... Nicole, is there some reason you think we need to keep our engagement a secret?
Eric: So what did Nicole say to you when you were alone with her?
Serena: It wasn't so much what she said, but the way she said it. It just seems that there's more to it than either one of you... forget it. It's none of my business.
Eric: You're right. It isn't. Nothing in my life is. We have nothing left to talk about.
[Knock at door]
Brady: What the hell are you doing here?
Hope: Sweetheart, thank you. Such a nice surprise.
Kayla: Hey, guys.
Hope: Oh, hi! Oh, I'm so happy to see you.
Kayla: You know, I was actually gonna call you this week because I wanted to invite the two of you over for dinner, like, maybe Sunday night.
Aiden: Sunday-- that works for me.
Hope: Yeah, it works for me too. We'd love to. That'd be great.
Kayla: Yeah, I'd like that too. I feel that I've been, you know, a bit remiss in having you over, and maybe I've just--I've just been a little embarrassed.
Hope: What? Why? Why would you be embarrassed?
Kayla: Well, I think you know. I mean, look at the two of you here together, happy. And in the beginning, I think you know better than anyone, I just--I wasn't really-- I wasn't really rooting for the two of you as a couple.
Aiden: Oh, no, no, no. Please, Kayla, that was--that was so long ago.
Kayla: Well, still, I-- you know, I rushed to judgment, and I shouldn't have done that, and I'm--I'm really so glad that I was wrong about you.
John: Good to see you all.
Julie: See you soon.
Doug: Good to see you.
John: And you... I will--I will call you later.
Marlena: Say hi to the kids.
Marlena: Well, you know what? I've got about 20 minutes, and then I've got to dash. I have, um, a patient I have to see.
Julie: Mm-hmm. 20 minutes. The office is 5 minutes away, so that gives us 15 minutes to talk to each other.
Marlena: All righty, then. Let's see, what do you want to talk about?
Doug: Marlena, Julie and I have been thinking.
Julie: Which we probably do a little too much of, but, again, it's--it's because we care about you. We're concerned. All these changes in john's life as he's finding his way back to you... he has a new job. He has a new grandson. And he has a son that he didn't even know about before.
Marlena: He's thrilled about all of that.
Julie: Yes, of course. But we're concerned about you, Marlena.
Marlena: About me? Why?
Julie: Well, I imagine all of this is very consuming for john. It probably takes up a lot of his time and perhaps all of his emotional energy, shall we say.
Marlena: Well, I'm--I'm fine. I'm very busy myself, you know.
Julie: Yes, I-I know, but his focus should be on you. His focus should be on repairing the relationship and giving you the attention you deserve, darling.
Marlena: It's all good, Julie. It's just fine.
Doug: Yes. So let's ask the question, eh?
Doug: Marlena, how are you handling this? I mean, with all these changes in john's life, tell us, how is it affecting you?
Jennifer: Maxine, she didn't take the job that she's qualified for and that she really wants because of me. What are you thinking?
Maxine: Well, that doesn't surprise me. I heard that several of the internships were interested in her, and she turned them all down. I know that girl is furious with you. What I don't know is why.
Watts: Fine. You can tell your mother... but only her, and she's sworn to secrecy.
JJ: She won't say a word.
Watts: I'll be in touch about training.
Watts: Talk to you later, Roman.
Roman: Okay, agent.
JJ: All right, I should go.
Roman: Hey. When you see Kyle today, don't do anything. You just talk.
JJ: That's fine.
Roman: JJ... you can still back out.
Kyle: I bet we could have a lot of fun together.
JJ: No way. I'm gonna nail this guy.
Roman: You be careful.
Serena: I, uh--I'm just returning something of Eric's, that's all. I'm--I'm leaving.
Eric: Yes, you are.
Serena: Well, it's okay. I have to get to the hospital, anyway.
Eric: You still work there?
Serena: The police don't want me to leave town, so, yeah, I picked up another project.
Brady: Great. Well, you know what? Get out of here. Stay out of my brother's life, okay?
Serena: Eric, you are a terrible liar. What are you and Nicole hiding?
Brady: All right, Eric... you are not yourself. I want to know what the hell is going on here.
Nicole: It's just... [Sighs] Before we tell everyone... I need to know if you're sure about this.
Daniel: Well, usually when a man puts a ring on a woman's finger, he's pretty sure.
Daniel: What, honey? What aren't you saying here?
Nicole: Daniel, you believed in me when no one else would... no matter how badly I screwed up. And I still do screw up all the time. I wake up in the morning. I've made three mistakes before the coffee's been made.
Nicole: Just listen, okay? This is your out. I love you, and I just want what's best for you, and if it's not me, I don't want you to do this. Look, you were really worried that I was gonna die, and I'm afraid that affected your judgment, you know? And--and maybe you wanted something that you really don't. You know, and--and life will-- it'll finally get... more quiet and normal, and then you'll realize that... so I just need you to think about it right now. Are you absolutely sure you want to spend the rest of your life with me?
Paul: Now, you see, your Uncle Paul is gonna have to teach you the proper grip for a split-finger fastball.
John: [Imitates whoosh]
Paul: [Chuckles] This kid is strong.
John: Looks that way. Yeah.
Paul: Brady left me with him, and I-I started to panic a little bit. But we've been fine ever since.
John: Oh... amazing stuff, right?
Paul: It really is.
John: Just the fact that Brady found out he had a son and then he got him back, kind of a miracle all the way around, right? Yeah, I know about that kind of miracle... being a father and all.
Paul: What is it?
John: I just hope that someday you can experience the same thing, son.
Brady: Do you think Serena has another reason to stay in Salem besides this-- this Xander investigation?
Eric: Listen, I don't know, and I don't care! I just want to forget about her, okay?
Brady: Dude, I know you want to forget about it, but she's bad news. You can't ignore the fact that girl-- who knows what she's capable of?
Eric: Listen, Brady, forget it, okay? Just let it go! Just let it go.
Daniel: Nicole... look at me... and listen very carefully. I don't care what happened before this night. Wait. That's a lie. I do care about it. But all it does... is make me love you more... make me see how far we have come... and feel so much gratitude for the honesty and the love that we have.
Daniel: It is everything... to me. So, yes... I am sure I want to marry you.
Daniel: I am very, very, very, very sure.
Kyle: Hey, what's going on?
JJ: Do you have the stuff?
Kyle: You ever hear of foreplay, JJ? Relax, man. What's your rush?
JJ: I-I just don't know what else we need to waste time on, so...
Kyle: Turn around.
Kyle: Turn around.
JJ: Come on, are you serious, man?
Kyle: Yeah, man.
Jennifer: I did a terrible thing.
Maxine: Sweetie, you don't do terrible things, so I'm not buying that.
Jennifer: Well, you should, because you're wrong about me. I hurt Paige badly. And I would do anything to make it right with her.
Kyle: Mm-hmm. Yeah, you can't ever be too careful. [Chuckles] You should know that.
JJ: Yeah, yeah, but, um, I-I admire you for being so thorough. What? Is there a problem?
Kyle: Depends. You and me, JJ-- we got a lot to talk about.
Kayla: You know, actually, sometimes it's great to be wrong. And I'm really glad that I was with you.
Kayla: Okay, good. So dinner on Sunday night?
Hope: Yes, absolutely. We're looking forward-- of course, I'll bring dessert.
Aiden: Yeah, and the wine. How about that?
Hope: Yes, I will also bring the wine.
Kayla: Great. That's all we need.
Aiden: Okay, good. All right, I have to go to court.
Hope: Okay. Bye.
Aiden: All right, bye-bye.
Kayla: Bye. Um, I should get going back to work too.
Kayla: Great to see you.
Hope: Oh, so good to see you too. Let's meet up and--wait. Let me ask you--how are you? What's happening? What's new in your life?
Marlena: Thank you both for your concern. I should tell you that john has been insistent that I be involved in everything that has to do with Tate. He's an adorable child. And, of course, I already-- I already knew Paul a bit.
Julie: I hope we get to know him too.
Marlena: I bet you will. But john wants me to be involved with his son's life and his grandson's life. We're just so glad to have these two new people in our family.
Julie: I'm very happy to hear it. I'm glad for you. I'm glad for john, all of you.
Doug: I'm just sorry that-- that john and Paul lost so much time.
Julie: Tell us a little more about Paul.
Marlena: Paul is a little like his dad, you know. He's--he's bright, sensitive.
Doug: And there's his fastball.
Marlena: There's that fastball.
Marlena: An astonishing athlete, yep.
Doug: Just a crying shame that--that he blew out his arm at such a tender age.
Marlena: Well, not to go down the, um, "gosh, if things had been different" road, but the truth is that Paul blowing out his arm, as you said, um... really was a catalyst for him coming to Salem, having surgery, and finding out that he had a father that lived here.
Marlena: It was good for both of them. Me too.
Paul: [Whispering] There you go. Hey. [Sighs] [Normal voice] I'd--I'd like very much to have kids someday, if I find the right person to, uh, marry and start a family with.
John: Yeah, I'm sure you will. So what else has been going on with you?
Paul: Well, I don't know if you've heard, but, um... I've lined up some work with Kate.
John: Mm, yeah, actually, I did hear that. So, uh,--so how's that working out?
Paul: It's, uh-- it can be challenging.
Paul: [Chuckles] Yeah, but I'm dealing with her.
John: Yeah. I'm sure you will. What else?
Paul: Well, I'm trying to get back into shape. Not competitive-sports shape, obviously.
John: I think you're doing pretty good.
Paul: Oh, thanks. I played a pickup game of basketball with some friends.
John: Yeah, no kidding. With anybody I know?
Paul: Will and Sonny.
Eric: Let's just talk about something else, huh? Like, you know... how's things going with Theresa? I mean, has she moved out of the mansion yet?
Brady: No. No, Eric, we had to postpone it because there's a problem with the nanny. Listen to me. I think you should talk to someone.
Eric: Listen, if you mean a shrink, forget it. Forget it.
Brady: All right, well, then talk to your brother. Why don't you talk to me? You know, obviously I'm concerned. Eric, you need to talk to me about what really happened that night when you and Nicole were trapped and you almost died... because I think something else happened, something that I don't know about. I don't know whether it was with Xander or Nicole or both or what. Talk to me! Come on. What--what has you so rattled?
Nicole: You're right. It's all behind us. And whatever mistakes we make moving forward, we'll fix those too.
Daniel: We will.
Daniel: So we're getting married.
Nicole: Damn straight we are. [Laughs]
Daniel: Mm. Well, we need to set a date.
Nicole: My calendar's wide open.
Daniel: Oh, yeah?
Daniel: Well, I'll explain to Parker first.
Daniel: And then we'll tell everyone else.
Daniel: W-w-wait. Where are you going? We haven't even eaten yet.
Nicole: Who can eat? Honey, I'm going home to our place to calm down, make lists... and be happier than I've ever been.
Daniel: You're crazy.
Daniel: I love you.
Daniel: [Exhales deeply]
Kyle: [Clears throat] You know what I do, right?
JJ: That's why I'm here.
Kyle: You know what the risks are?
JJ: Yeah, I'll take 'em. I told you that before.
Kyle: Greater risk...
JJ: Greater reward.
Kyle: I need to know that I can trust you.
JJ: Well, I'm here, aren't I?
Kyle: Yeah, but... [Clears throat] The thing is, right now, JJ, I'm just not feeling it, man... and I think you know why. (Music plays)
Eric: Brady, there's-- there's nothing else I need to tell you. So last time, I'm okay.
Brady: All right. All right, man, I'll leave you alone. I got to get going.
JJ: I have no clue what you're talking about. I don't want to play games, Kyle. Look, you change your mind, hit me up.
JJ: You know what? You came to me, not the other way around. I am in, and I've told you so. So I don't know what changed.
Kyle: I can tell you in one word... Paige.
Jennifer: Oh, Paige, hi. Are you working at the yogurt place today?
Jennifer: Oh, good. I mean, because I heard there's a lot of jobs at the hospital that you've been turning down, jobs that would probably pay a lot more than the yogurt place and... not to mention the experience you would get career-wise and being able to move forward.
Paige: I just can't get into this with you, I'm sorry.
Jennifer: Honey, please. I am just trying to understand your reasons.
Jennifer: Because if it has to do with--with me and Abigail and you wanting to avoid us--
Paige: No, look, it doesn't.
Jennifer: Honey, I know that you're having a rough time, and I am so worried about you.
Paige: You're worried about me? What a joke... 'cause I am so not the one you need to be worried about.
John: How'd that basketball game go?
Paul: Good. My shoulder held up pretty well.
John: Mm-hmm, and?
Paul: And I'd go as far as saying that Sonny and will and I may end up being friends.
John: Sounds great.
Paul: Yeah, could be. We'll see.
John: [Sighs] You know, son, in terms of... finding someone that you care about again like you did Sonny... it's gonna happen.
Paul: Yeah. I hope so. Anyway, I finally realized that there's no rush.
John: Well... if there is one thing that I've learned in my dotage...
John: It's that sometimes that person you're meant to be with could be on the other side of the world, and other times they could be right there with you all along.
Daniel: Hey, Brady.
Brady: Question-- have you seen, uh, Serena?
Daniel: No. No. From what I heard, her work is done here.
Brady: Don't count on that.
Brady: Meaning don't quote me on this, but she insinuated to me that the hospital assigned her a new project.
Daniel: When did you see her?
Brady: Just now... at Eric's.
Nicole: [Screams] [Laughs] Oh! Oh, my God. [Laughs] Oh, my God. [Sighs] [Giggles]
[Knock at door]
Nicole: You couldn't stay away, could you? [Laughs] Eric.
Eric: I called your office. They said you took the day off.
Nicole: Half day.
Eric: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come.
Nicole: No, no, no, wait. I'm glad you did. There's something I need to tell you.
Daniel: What in the hell was Serena doing at Eric's?
Brady: I have no idea. I pressed Eric after she left, and he wasn't talking.
[Cell phone rings]
Daniel: Ugh. Hold on. All right, you know what? I got to take this.
Brady: Go ahead.
Daniel: All right, you take care, Brady.
Brady: All right, man. [Sighs]
Nicole: Uh, come in.
Eric: Let me go first. It's about Serena.
Nicole: What about her?
Eric: I think she knows.
Eric: About us.
Clyde: Well, that's very nice of you. Well, I look forward to that tour, you know, because I'm considering making another donation to the hospital. Yes, sir, I will. Well... since Abigail's auntie's the chief of staff and the one who gave her that prescription, I'll bet she's the one gonna be doing the paternity test. And I'll soon find out if I'm gonna be a granddaddy... or if she's carrying a DiMera bastard inside her. [Chuckles]
Paige: Don't get me wrong. I don't care even one little bit, but if I were you, I'd be dead straight worried about JJ and his new friend... the drug dealer.
Kyle: Don't you remember, JJ? You told me to steer clear of Paige Larson or you wouldn't come work for me. And then you two get into some petty little fight, and suddenly you don't give a damn if I start seeing her?
JJ: What's your point? I really don't like the way you're looking at me.
Kyle: See, JJ, I'm getting the sense that you're not being 100% honest with me. So how about you cut the crap and come clean with me?
Kayla: So I'm on the bicentennial committee, and we are coming up with all sorts of events to commemorate the big day.
Hope: Wow. This is great.
Hope: Please let me know if there's anything at all I can do to help. I'd be happy to. It sounds like it's gonna be a pretty great celebration.
