What's your problem, man? Hmm? Why is who Paige hangs out with any of your business?
Paige: Yeah, JJ. Why would that be any of your business? Let me tell you again. Get the hell out of my life, and stay out of it.
Jennifer: Paige. [Sighs]
Eve: Overdose can cause extreme exhaustion and/or hallucinations.
Aiden: Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes. No, I just wanted to make sure it's one of the rooms with the "spa-inspired bathrooms, with the large soaking tubs and the plush, luxurious bathrobes." [Chuckles] Great, great. Oh, did you get the CD I sent? Fantastic, fantastic. I know I sound a little obsessive, but it's for an anniversary, and I just want everything to be perfect.
Daniel: Well, I guess I better get some of these things out of here, huh? I'll put these in the bedroom, and I will be right back.
Hope: Good luck.
Daniel: Oh, thank you.
Hope: Daniel, uh... [Stammering] I wasn't searching the place. I swear to God I wasn't. It just fell out of the bag when I--
Daniel: Do you like it?
Hope: Do I like it? Do-- what is there not to like? But I know this is none of my business.
Daniel: No, no, I think it'd be nice to have a female point of view. It really would--here. Is it too big?
Hope: [Laughs] You're hilarious. "Is it too big?" Diamonds are never too big, Daniel, but this? Holy moly. Stone, the setting-- it's exquisite.
Daniel: I'm glad you like it. But you will keep my secret, right?
Hope: You're going to ask Nicole to marry you.
Daniel: Yeah. I mean, God knows we've had our ups and downs, but this just-- it just feels right now. For both of us.
Nicole: I need to know for sure. Can I count on you to keep this to yourself or are you gonna tell Daniel what happened between us?
Eric: I can't talk about this.
Nicole: We have to.
Eric: Not now. And certainly not in this place. Don't you see it would be pointless?
Nicole: Pointless? This is the most important thing in my life right now. Are you going to tell Daniel or aren't you?
Kyle: Is there a problem here?
Paige: I don't know what he's been telling you, but remember that loser ex-boyfriend I was telling you about before? Well, I was talking about him. So whatever he's been telling you, don't believe it, because everything that comes out of his mouth is a total lie.
Jennifer: What did they put in this thing?
Hope: Okay, then. Hey, every light is on in the place, and there are boxes everywhere. What I don't see are flowers, candles--champagne. I sure hope there's champagne--
Daniel: No, no, whoa, whoa. No, I'm not gonna ask her tonight, no.
Daniel: No, I'm gonna wait until she has a little time to just settle in.
Hope: Yeah, well, with all of Nicole's stuff here, that could really take months.
Daniel: Well, I don't know if I'm willing to wait quite that long.
Hope: You know, something else you might want to think about is maybe calling a closet company, yeah. They can be expensive but they can really maximize your space.
Daniel: You know, this news doesn't exactly thrill you, does it?
Hope: I didn't say that.
Daniel: No, no, you just started chatting about closets. Hope, you know, one of the things that I like about you is you don't chat, so my guess is you think I'm making a mistake.
Eric: You have to know I'd never hurt you.
Nicole: Not on purpose. But you still haven't answered my question.
Eric: Listen, I have a lot of work I have to deal with right now. Later, all right?
Nicole: Looks like I don't have a choice.
Hope: I'm not talking about her moving in here or you two seeing each other, it's this. It's the ring. It's the commitment, Daniel. It just seems a little rushed! Doesn't it seem rushed?
Daniel: You think I'm going to marry her because she almost died? No, it's all right. It's all right. Say it--you can say it. I came close to losing her, and I realized I am never going to take the chance on losing her again.
Nicole: What are you doing here?
Serena: That's your business because?
Nicole: Because it seems every time I turn around, there you are.
Serena: This is the town square, not a deserted alley. I think you're being a little bit paranoid. You gotta remember, it's a small town.
Nicole: What I remember is what you've done and who you are. I remember months of "butter wouldn't melt in your mouth," while you're conspiring with that animal who tried to kill Eric and me. What I remember is that you are a deceitful and yes, lethal, bitch. So I don't think it's paranoid to worry about bumping into you. I think it's good sense.
Serena: You should watch what you say to me.
Nicole: And you should stay far, far away from me.
Serena: Is that a threat? That might be a mistake.
Aiden: Ladies, is there a problem?
Serena: Everything's fine.
Nicole: No, everything is far from fine. I'm glad you're here, Aiden. In fact, you are just the man I want to see.
Jennifer: Excuse me. You may want to check what they put in these shakes. It tastes really strange.
I'm sorry. Would you like another?
Jennifer: Oh, no. That's okay. I kind of lost my taste for it. Thank you.
Eve: [Sighs] Leave it to ms. Horton to have a refined smoothie palate.
Eric: Hi, eve.
Eve: Hi, Eric! Oh, gosh, it's great to see you. I mean, literally great to see you. I heard on the news what happened.
Eric: Yeah, it wasn't the best night of my life.
Eve: I'm sure, but your mom said that you're doing better and that makes me happy. I'm glad to hear it.
Eric: Oh, thank you for the nice message. Guess there aren't cards for "glad you didn't die locked in the brutally hot crawl space."
Eve: [Laughs] Well, actually, you know, there is a card, there was one, but I just thought it was too sentimental for a guy like you.
Eric: I'm sorry I didn't get back to you.
Eve: It's okay. I just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you, you know? Oh, and by the way, I was on your website, and you have this one picture of the crocus coming up through the snow--
Eric: Oh, hi!
Jennifer: Hi! Oh, my goodness! I've missed you! It is so good to see you! Oh, my goodness!
Kyle: So you two... you guys were, like, together?
Paige: Yeah. A real fun chapter of my life.
Kyle: Okay, well, whatever is going on between you doesn't seem to involve me, so, I guess I'll get going.
JJ: Just keep going, okay?
Kyle: I'll see you later. Peace, bro.
Paige: You have nothing to say about my life. Do you get that? Nothing.
JJ: He is bad news, Paige.
Paige: That's for me to decide! I don't need you telling me who I should see or not see, okay? I don't need you telling me anything. But here's what I'm going to tell you. You need to get it through your thick head that I see who I want and I do what I want, and what I want now, more than anything, is for you to get out of my life.
Daniel: So maybe it's a little rushed, but we have been through so much, I think we deserve to be happy.
Hope: You do. You deserve to be happy, absolutely. I'm looking at you right now, and I can honestly see you really are happy. I'm happy for you. And I will look forward to dancing at your wedding.
Daniel: Thank you.
Hope: If Nicole messes this up, she's a complete idiot.
Nicole: Aiden, this is Serena, the woman who used Eric as a mule, pretending to be in love with him while working with that guy Xander. You know, the one who tried to slow-cook me and Eric. Serena, this is Aiden, my lawyer. Probably the best lawyer in Salem, if not the state. Now I know I need to meet with you on this, but the criminal case against Xander has been stalled, and I was thinking of bringing some kind of civil suit. You see, the legal standards are different. It's a lot easier to get justice with a civil suit. Just ask OJ. In fact, I think that's going to be my next step. If you and Xander don't end up behind bars where you belong, what could be a better second choice than to bleed you both dry of that filthy money you got from those blood diamonds?
Jennifer: Well, I know that you're okay physically, but it couldn't have been easy for you to get over that emotionally.
Eric: I do have a new phobia. Steer clear of crawl spaces.
Jennifer: How masculine of you to make a joke like it didn't mean anything.
Eve: Um, I need to make a phone call. Jennifer, it's nice seeing you.
Jennifer: It's been a pleasure. No, but I'm serious. Really, are you okay?
Eric: Yeah, I mean-- well, it's weird. I was so focused on Nicole and, you know, we almost lost her. But now that she's okay, it makes it easier to move forward. But it means a lot that you care. But honestly, I'm all good. No worries.
Jennifer: Good, so you're ready to go back to work, 'cause I have a project for you.
Eric: Great! Just tell me when, where, what.
Jennifer: I will, but I can't tell you right now, because I have to run, but I cannot tell you how glad I am to see you!
Eric: Thank you.
Jennifer: Oh, did I tell you that we want to do a photo essay of all the crawl spaces at university hospital? Pronto. Yours--it's all yours.
Eric: They all think you are so nice, but you're not so nice, and I'm gonna tell them all.
Eve: I couldn't reach my friend.
Eric: Oh, right, I'm sorry.
Eve: But I was still wondering if you've sold that photo or not.
Eric: Not yet.
Eve: Okay, well, I thought about this: Why don't you go home and pick up the picture, and then meet me at the pub? I haven't had dinner yet, and I hate to eat alone--
Eric: Oh, me, too. But honestly, I have this very, very important phone call that I have to take at home, because all my pictures are there.
Eve: Oh, oh, yeah, okay. You know, some other time.
Eric: You know, you know what, let me finish. Why don't you come back to my place? Listen, I can look for the picture and maybe I can rustle up something for dinner. I mean, if you're willing.
Eve: Willing? Yes. Yes, I would love to, yes! Let me ask you something, though. Are you as good a cook as you are a photographer?
Eric: Well, let me put it this way: In terms of dinner...
Eric: Don't get your hopes up.
JJ: Paige, believe me. I get that it's over. I want to stay away from you.
Paige: Then do it!
JJ: Okay, but then get a brain, Paige! For someone supposed to be so smart, you are so stupid.
Paige: [Breathing loudly]
JJ: I'm just saying one thing, and I want you to hear me. You don't have to say anything. Just take this in. Kyle is bad news. This isn't about me trying to get back into your life. You have made your feelings totally clear. I can't make it happen, and I know that it will never happen. But be mad at me. Try to ruin my life, not yours. I can't just walk away when I see you making a huge mistake, one that might really hurt you.
Paige: You're right. You're so right. You can't get back into my life. Say hi to my mom for me.
Eve: Well, I don't guess anyone would call you a neat freak.
Eric: Listen, I know I may not be organized, but I can definitely put a finger on anything important in a matter of days.
Eve: Okay. Well, I'll tell you this much. You're certainly talented, Eric.
Eric: Well, I don't know about that, but I'm definitely prolific.
Eve: I tell you what. You get all this organized and I'll check out what's in your refrigerator, because, you know, we all have our talents, and mine is heating up leftovers. [Clicks tongue]
Eric: [Clicks tongue]
Hope: Okay, great. Thank you so much. I think that's it for now.
Daniel: Anything to help. You think you're any closer to making a case against Xander?
Hope: We'll see.
Daniel: Can't believe I'm connected to that animal, or that Victor is.
Hope: Victor being so good and pure and all of that? Sorry, withdrawn. We've been playing so nice lately.
Hope: Hey, don't forget. Put the ring away...
Hope: Before Nicole gets here.
Daniel: Yes, yes, yes, yes. I think I am going to claim this drawer as mine, 'cause I'm pretty sure Nicole's gonna take the rest of the apartment.
Hope: Well, I hate to tell you this, but these might only be the first wave.
Daniel: Yeah, I fear you're right. [Laughs]
Hope: Oh, gosh, I gotta go. I have a date with Aiden tonight.
Daniel: He is a lucky man.
Hope: Actually, you know what? I think I'm the lucky one. Oh, you might want to think about renting a storage unit.
Hope: It's a lot of stuff.
Hope: Good luck.
Daniel: Thank you. [Exhales]
Aiden: Would you excuse us for a moment?
Aiden: Okay. All right, look. I have to go, but listen to me. If you're gonna have a prayer of winning this case? You have to know when to... keep the mouth closed, understand?
Nicole: I understand. I don't like it, but I understand.
Aiden: Good. All right.
Serena: Just so you know, your threats don't scare me, and as you well know, I had nothing to do with what happened to you and Eric.
Nicole: As I well know? That is bull. You brought Eric into your mess with that animal. Look, if you bring a sociopath and a semiautomatic to a party, and he uses it to kill someone, you can't say you had nothing to do with it.
Serena: Your analogies are lamer than your reporting. Do your worst. Go ahead and file your stupid lawsuit.
Nicole: You think that's my worst? The lawsuit is the least of your problems. I have a bigger, faster, more effective way to blow your life to hell. Want to hear? Woman: How are you doing in there baby girl?
Hope: Aiden, I'm so sorry. I didn't--
Aiden: Detective Brady! What a surprise, and you look beautiful, as you always do.
Hope: This is beautiful.
Aiden: Just like you. Bit of the bubbly?
Hope: Not quite yet. Something I need to do first.
Aiden: What's that?
Serena: I am not interested in anything you have to say.
Nicole: Really? 'Cause my boss sure was. He can't wait. Everybody loves stories about lying, hypocritical skanks.
Serena: So you're writing your autobiography.
Nicole: Clever. You're insinuating that I'm a bad girl, too. Well, that's true. I've lied. And I've married men I don't love for money, and I've done some pretty terrible things. But I have never hooked up with some rough trade--that would be Xander--and helped him smuggle blood diamonds. You know whose blood that refers to? Children's blood. You and Xander deal with warlords who make children kill. That is where that money comes from. And there aren't enough degrees of separation to wash that blood off your hands, and my boss seems to think that's a great story.
Serena: You can't prove that.
Nicole: No. But there are a lot of nice, decent people who would like to try and help me. Even if I can't prove it in court, I can prove it in a court of public opinion. I can prove you're a medical journalist just like Paris Hilton is an actress. Journalists do not use an innocent man to smuggle blood diamonds into the country, and then sleep with him to try and get them back. That job has a different title.
Serena: Write whatever you want, because everyone knows it's just tabloid garbage.
Nicole: As little as I think of you, I know you have an Achilles' heel. You actually care what Eric thinks about you, and I'm gonna make him learn the truth about you, and he will finally see what a disgusting person you are, and he will never, ever forgive you.
Eric: This is delicious.
Eric: I--how did you do it?
Eve: Hot sauce.
Eric: I-I had hot sauce?
Eve: Yeah, you did. It was up in the cabinet, like, way in the top. But I also made some coffee. Would you like some?
Eric: Great, and I can look for that old picture.
Eve: Oh, well, good luck with that. Oh, wow. This is lovely. I mean, this is a beautiful girl, but this--
Eve: You know, you can almost feel how much you feel for her in this, you know. You can see it.
Eric: Yeah, it's an old picture.
Eve: I guess I, uh... touched on a sore subject. What happened?
Eric: She betrayed me.
Eric: Yeah. I thought she loved me. It turns out she was just using me. Just an old boring story.
Eve: I'm sorry.
Eric: Oh, please, don't be. I finally smartened up. Almost dying will really do that for you. What are you looking for?
Eve: Checking to see if you have any sweetener.
Eric: I don't have any.
Eve: You know what? I do, actually.
Eve: In my purse. So, you and Nicole, what that guy did to you, and that girl, Serena, right?
Eric: Serena, right.
Eve: Well, was she a part of it?
Eric: In a way.
Eve: So, "betrayal" wasn't too harsh a word, then.
Eric: You know, with Serena, she's gonna be brought to justice. But she committed plenty of crimes that were far worse than just breaking my heart. People delude themselves into thinking they can get away with the horrible things that they do. But ultimately, if you commit a crime, there are consequences.
Jennifer: Oh! Hi, honey.
JJ: Hey, nothing.
Jennifer: Hey! Hey, hey, hey. What's wrong? Don't do this. Come back down here. You are upset. And I'm going to worry if you don't tell me what happened.
JJ: It's stupid. I ran into Paige. She's hanging out with some really bad people and she just won't listen to me. And she could end up getting really hurt.
Jennifer: All right, and I'm really sorry to have to tell you this, but there's nothing you can do about it, honey. You have to let her go.
Kyle: [Chuckles] So... what was all that about?
Paige: JJ's just a jerk and a loser and I'm just sick of it.
Kyle: I mean, what's he like? How come?
Paige: He's like the biggest liar ever. You can't trust him no matter what he says. But you know what? I don't want to talk about him. I want to talk about us.
Aiden: [Chuckles] You know, when we met, I wouldn't have given you 12 to 1 that we'd even be talking in a year.
Hope: Hmm, I certainly loathed you, didn't I?
Aiden: You know, I think I picked upon that. It's when you said, "I loathe you."
Hope: I did not say-- I did not say that... in so many words.
Aiden: Well, you didn't have to.
Hope: Well, you certainly didn't cover how you felt about me. You were so arrogant and uptight.
Aiden: Whoa, wait a minute. I was arrogant?
Hope: You certainly were, yes.
Aiden: I think you were--
Hope: I was what, Mr. Jennings?
Aiden: Damn beautiful. Yeah.
Hope: Yeah, that was a really, really great save. That was really good. You were kinda cute yourself.
Hope: Wow, huh? What a journey. Wait a minute. How long ago was that? Do you know, hmm? How long ago was it?
Aiden: I do.
Aiden: Do you know what day it is today?
Hope: Hmm, no. What day is it?
Hope: No. What day is it?
Aiden: Let me remind you.
[Waltz music plays]
Hope: Do you hear that?
Hope: Did you do that?
Hope: My gosh, how did you do that?
Aiden: Wait, wait, wait a minute.
Aiden: No, don't--stop, no.
Aiden: Do not be a cop.
Aiden: Okay? It is romantic. Just listen. Do you remember?
Hope: Right. It is romantic.
Aiden: Does it give you a hint?
Hope: I do remember.
Aiden: It is our anniversary. It was a year ago today when we first danced together.
Hope: And we didn't fight. I'm going to say something I probably really shouldn't say--
Aiden: Oh, boy.
Hope: I, um... I liked fighting with you.
Aiden: You did?
Hope: Yeah, I loved how you could keep up with me.
Aiden: Well, you know what I loved?
Aiden: How you didn't play the girl card, yeah.
Hope: I'm so glad we didn't get stuck there. I guess I liked the dancing more than the fighting.
Aiden: Me, too. Just took me longer to get there, that's all.
Hope: Me, too.
Hope: Both of us. As they say, we had a lot of baggage.
Hope: This is beautiful, and I love that you remembered.
Aiden: Are you kidding me? How could I not remember? I mean, all of a sudden, I wasn't bitter or angry, alone. I was happy. Dancing with the most amazingly beautiful woman, who actually made me look forward to the next day. How could I not remember falling in love? So... may I have this dance?
Hope: And the next one. And the one after that, and after that.
Nicole: Daniel, no, I told you I'd do that. You shouldn't do all the work.
Daniel: No, no, no. Wait till you see the bedroom. Trust me, there's enough work for both of us.
Nicole: [Laughs] Well, maybe you were right to clear the living room. Make room for the next load.
Daniel: Next load?
Nicole: Oh, don't be so cranky. Come on, now that I'm back, things will move twice as fast. Why don't you get this big box over here and I'll just move this, right in here?
Oh, that's gonna be-- don't...
Daniel: Touch that drawer.
Eve: You know, if you don't find the one with the crocus, I love this one. I'll take this one.
Eric: Thank you. It's one of my best sellers.
Eve: Well, I'm sure it is. It's the header to your website, too, isn't it? Gosh, you know, it's really, really perfect because it captures just how unique your work is.
Eric: Well, that was Jennifer's idea. She's got a great eye. I mean, it really helps me do what I'm doing.
Eve: [Scoffs] Is there nothing that that woman can't do? What, is she gonna win a Nobel peace prize next?
Eric: Eve... I like you. And you are always welcome in my home, but you understand that Jennifer is my friend. An old, trusted friend. I understand the two of you have issues, and I'm not taking any side, but please, I just can't have you talking about her like that in my home.
Eve: Wow, I-- I feel like I'm five now.
Eric: I didn't mean to do that. Listen, we can just change the subject or something.
Eve: No, no, no. You know what? I like that you said that to me. It was, um-- it was very direct, not angry, but not the least bit ambiguous. Look, there's something that you probably don't know, but... feelings are weird.
Eve: There's a part of me-- I mean, a very detached part of me who knows that the way I feel about Jennifer is really screwed up and has been for a really long time. But it doesn't help that everybody in this town--I mean, absolutely everybody--thinks that she walks on water, and that everything is just my fault, has to be. All my fault. Well, it's not my fault. It's not all my fault, anyway. I'll never forgive or forget what her son did to my daughter, what he put her through. You know, Jennifer's not blameless, either, here. Okay, you know, here I go. I start, and--I start and I just can't stop. But I gotta stop. Gotta stop, 'cause it just takes me to a bad place, and I can't go there, because my daughter needs me.
Eric: You know, I think telling me what you just told me was really brave.
Eve: That's not brave. Talking. Changing how you think and what you do, that's brave. Eric, you really helped me tonight, so thank you.
Eric: I can't imagine how.
Eve: You made me realize that I need to think a little less about myself... and more about my daughter.
Kyle: I'd love to talk about us, but how about we find someplace a little more private?
Paige: Sounds nice, but I've gotta get back to my dorm, but maybe we can hang out sometime?
Kyle: Sure. What about JJ?
Paige: Are you worried about him?
Kyle: Me? No. Of course not.
Paige: Then I'll give you a call.
JJ: I get that it's over, and that she won't listen to me. I'm scared. I don't think she understands what kind of people she's dealing with.
Jennifer: And I'm sorry that there's nothing you can say that's going to change anything, honey. You have to accept that.
JJ: You're right. There is nothing I can say, but maybe there's something I can do.
[Waltz music plays]
Hope: Oh, wow.
Hope: I can't believe that it was a year ago tonight, I finally admitted to myself that I was falling for you.
Aiden: Do you know I couldn't imagine my life without you?
Hope: You never have to worry about that.
[Cell phone rings]
Kyle: Didn't expect to hear from you again, after that scene with your girlfriend.
JJ: No, she's not my girlfriend.
Kyle: Then what was all that warning me about staying away from her?
JJ: Well, you can forget about that. After you left, we talked, and it came crashing back what a pain in the ass she is. So if you want her, you can have her.
Kyle: Is that why you called me, to give me permission?
JJ: No. To talk about that other thing.
Kyle: You mean business.
JJ: Yeah, well, I've been doing some thinking. Maybe I can help you. Maybe it might be exactly what I need.
Eric: I'm sorry I never found that picture.
Eve: It's all right, Eric. Just, you know, let me know when you do, okay?
Eric: You know, if you want to talk more, I can put on another pot of coffee.
Eve: Oh, you know... I really should go home and think things through. It's not my strong suit, but you've helped me realize that it's easier to be mad at JJ and Jennifer rather than face what I've done.
Eric: Well, everyone makes mistakes.
Eve: Yeah. Everybody has secrets. No matter how much you try to keep them, they always have a way of coming out. 'Night.
Eric: Good night.
Nicole: Why'd you do that?
Daniel: Because that's not for tonight.
Nicole: For when, then?
Daniel: Ah, soon. Just not now, because tonight-- tonight is for something else.
Nicole: We're gonna organize my purses and shoes?
Daniel: No, that would take eternity.
Daniel: Ow! No, it is for this.
Nicole: Mm-hmm, yep. Yes, I'd rather have that, than seeing what's in this old drawer. [Grunts] I can't believe it! I can't believe that tonight is my first night in my new home. Our home. Tonight is for us. Just for us.
Nicole: [Grunts] I need to know for sure. Can I count on you to keep this to yourself? Are you gonna tell Daniel what happened between us?
Eric: I can't talk about this. Nicole, I love you.
Serena: Wonder what would happen if Daniel were to find out whatever it is that Nicole so desperately doesn't want him to know?
